La relación latinoamericana con la muerte es fascinante. No digo que todo esté conectado con todo pero creo que mí profe de antropología estaba en una interesante cuando dijo que la colisión y el sincretismo del catolicismo mediterráneo con las creencias de América y de África generó algo muy interesante acá.

Ni sé por dónde empezar con esto pero lo que noto en Europa y en la América anglosajona es que la muerte es algo aparte de la vida. En América Latina al difunto se lo reza y se lo pide que rece, se lo tiene en distintos recordatorios en fechas y lugares físicos, es como una actitud cordial con los difuntos y la otra vida.

Yo en particular la veo de lejos porque yo, en mí experiencia personal, tengo como muy marcada la distinción entre vida y muerte. Pero tengo muchísimos conocidos y amigos que no. Que van al cementerio a pasar el día y tomar mates. Ni hablemos del Día de Muertos en México, por ejemplo, que tengo entendido que era una costumbre mucho más extendida. Es una cosa muy interesante.

How do you think eda would react to luz on her period? Like Luz is just crying VERY loudly in her sleeping bag because of her hormones acting up and eda doesn’t really know what to do.

It depends if witches get periods too. Given that we know they get pregnant, it's very likely that they do.

I can imagine Eda seeing Luz crying in her sleeping bag and think she's upset about something going on at school, with her friends, or maybe missing her mom.

So when she cautiously asks Luz about it and finds out what's actually wrong. Either because Luz outright tells her or Eda figures out through context clues (Luz talking about cramps and stuff), she's revealed it's just THAT.

Then she gives her potions that are basically the Boiling Isles equivalent of Ibuprofen and a Heating Pad. (The Heating Pad potion just makes your stomach warm on the inside. Eda and Lilith weren't allowed to drink it when they were younger because their mom said it would prevent them from getting pregnant when they're older)

And buy her Boiling Isles chocolate that Luz will probably not eat

I was actually was thinking once that between Luz and Anne Boonchuy, Luz got stuck in the better situation when concerning periods. Because Luz is living with a humanoid woman with a bathroom that is accessible to humans.

Meanwhile Anne is living with FROGS. Frogs don't get periods. What is she gonna do? Use a bunch toilet paper? Toilet paper made for FROGS-

myy biggest criticism of camila and one im shocked no one else talks about AT ALL is the fact she watches luz put the gift her DEAD FATHER GAVE HER into the trash after giving her the 'reality talk' and says NOTHING? doesn't even flinch? she instead SMILES and rewards her for going along with it.

like????? why is no one talking about this? it LITERALLY sets up the entire series?
