avgn/bj fans that aren't complete uncritical cinemassacre shills are such a rare sight 😔
Hello!
Yeah lmao, I don't give a shit for Cinemassacre. Screenwave Media (and really Rolfe as a whole) are shady mfs and I can't bring myself to back that. Old AVGN was good (though I'm not a fan of AVGN anyhow), and I just like Board James for the lore and writing. Some say it's pretentious, and I can absolutely see how and agree to an extent, but I just enjoy it for the symbolism and narrative it paints. It's interesting for its complexity to me.
What happened behind the scenes was awful. Support Bootsy as a musician (dude is AWESOME), fuck Cinemassacre, fuck Screenwave, don't stan celebrities. I implore you to do your own research on the matters.
Thanks for the ask! I hope you have a great day. :)

You know what? I just wanted to post some pretty pictures, but you might be on to something.
We could use the reblogs to share our favourite FGC moments to try and lure more vict... More people in!
So, like meep suggested. This is Evo Moment 37.
youtube
Evo is this annual fighting game event where pro fighting game players gather each summer for the finals in whatever fitting game is currently hot. The games in my original post were actually this year's lineup!
Moment 37 was when Daigo Umehara (the Ken player in the above video) successfully parried every single hit of Chun-Li's super (played by Justin Wong) during the Street Fighter III: Third Strike tournament at Evo 2004 and eventually won the game. This requires very precise timing and if a single hit had landed Daigo would have lost as he had a slither of health left. As such, it is considered a very iconic moment in the FGC (the Fighting Game Community) and is forever talked about.
This is another very cool video I wanna share.
youtube
Basically the guy talks about how he wasn't very interested in fighting games but around the time Street Fighter IV came out he came across a video full of hype moments that peaked his interest and later proceeds to give suggestions on how to learn to appreciate fighting games and having fun while doing it.
Then there's Core-A-Gaming, having possibly produced the most extensive series of video essays on fighting games. His entire channel is worth a watch, I regularly watch his old videos again and again so I have a few suggestions.
youtube
This video attempts to better explain and analyse the oh-so-common reason as to why people don't play fighting games.
This is Corey's (the guy who owns the channel) personal favourite video where he analyzes the premise and the importance of the presence of the FGC.
youtube
He also interviewed a handful of female pro gamers on their experience as women in the FGC.
youtube
The FGC, because of its birth in the arcade scene and eventual move to consoles, which are considerably cheaper than building a gaming pc, has always been extremely diverse in terms of racial and social backgrounds, but is still struggling with female and LGBT representation. Things have been getting a lot better though, and one of our top players, Sonic Fox, is actually openly gay, non-binary and a furry, often competing in his furry suit, and he's one of the most respected and decorated players in the community.
Back to Core-A-Gaming, his most recent video sheds light on the Pakistani Tekken scene.
youtube
The upper echelon of Tekken pro players has been traditionally dominated by Koreans, but the Pakistani Tekken community has begun to do exceptionally well in recent years and they are constantly cheered on by the rest of their community, with Arslan Ash and KHAN spearheading Pakistan's rise to the heights of Tekken superstardom!
Then there's of course Maximilian Dood, the No. 1 YouTuber who specializes in fighting game content. He, along with Justin Wong and another YouTuber, Matt McMuscles, who is better known for his What Happened? series but still has tons of fighting game related videos, have all joined forces to create the Triple K.O. podcast.
A new episode comes out every other Tuesday!
Leon Massey is also one of my personal favourite FG YouTubers.
youtube
GekkoSquirrel mostly focuses on Guilty Gear so if you're into that you might like him
youtube
Arya is a Tekken-oriented YouTuber. Tekken is my personal favourite series so I like him for obvious reasons! He released a great analysis on every single Tekken 7 character's playstyle.
youtube
My final YouTube recommendation is Thorgi's Arcade. He makes these AMAZINGLY detailed retrospective series on fighting games. He's currently tackling Street Fighter in a multi part series but his magnum opus is the KOF one.
youtube
Tackling a series with FIFTEEN different entities is certainly no easy task. And that's not even taking into account all the spinoffs! Last year I fell head first into KOF and it's largely thanks to his series on it. He goes into detail about the inception, the characters, the development of the games and, of course, SNK itself, the company in charge of the games. This company has literally gone bankrupt a thousand times yet has consistently pulled itself back from the dead and continues to make KOF, among other fighting games and if this is not inspirational I don't know what is. In fact, the types they went bankrupt they still went ahead and made some of the best games in the series so yeah.
I'm sure there are MANY more I'm forgetting so I'm hoping others might chime in.

Johanna, Crystal, Kira, and Mint Salad team up to review the infamous Ghostbusters remake from 2016. In this movie review/podcast they will talk about all the things that make this THE WORST Ghostbusters movie. Like the awful script (if there even was one), the jokes that constantly fall flat, and bizarre acting choices from the cast-Very Famous YouTuber Tony from Hack The Movies

Use Your Words
Developer: Smiling Buddah Games Publisher: Screenwave Media Rrp: £10.99 (Steam) Released: 4th April 2017 Available on: Steam Played Using: Tablet (or any internet enabled device) Approximate game length: 15 minutes. I love that there are now games allow you to gather a group of friends to play that don't require a separate peripheral. I mean, why have that extra bit of plastic when most people (especially in the audience that would buy games like this) these days usually have a web enabled device close to hand, be it a smart phone, tablet or laptop that can be used instead? For this review I've enlisted the help of two friends of mine (and my fiancee). To attempt to differentiate between them I'm putting one in italics one in bold and lastly one in underline (which apparently doesn't work when viewed withing Tumblr itself... so great). I apologise if that seems a bit messy but its the best system I can come up with at the moment. Anyhow lets get on with this review!
Tumblr media
This game is funny as fuck, I am the greatest at subtitles. However it could do with more variation in the games. I have to agree with that statement, the second part anyway (although she is very good at the subtitle round). The game has four game types that are played over six rounds, as fun as these are it can be become a bit repetitive and makes me wish that they had a couple more game types rather than make the players do the subtitle and headline rounds twice. The repetitiveness becomes even more apparent when playing the subtitle rounds because the game repeats the same video clip before each subtitle which in a four player game got a bit grating. It's a great game to play with a family (maybe activate the censor mode before playing with your parents) But it didn't go into full screen causing clipping on the sides of the headline game which affected how funny an answer was. Hilarious. The screen parameters were out specifically on the 'newspaper round' slightly affecting how funny some of the answers would have been.
Tumblr media
As you can clearly see my three other players really enjoyed themselves with the game. I'd definitely say that it was worth the money, especially since I know they've played it again a few times without me since this review was written. However if I had an option I'd probably go for one of the Jackbox Party Packs over this simply because there is a much greater choice of games and the price increase for it isn't all that much. If this appeals to you perhaps try; The Jackbox Party Packs 1-5 Gremlins Inc Ticket to Ride

It’s a bit late, but I’m honored to have won the Screenwave Media Award at TooManyGames in Philadelphia last weekend. The convention was tons of fun, full of great people and feedback, with lots of love from and for indie developers!

Accessibility in Indie Games
Developing a functional game can be an extremely daunting task all on its own. To make that game accessible as well might seem beyond the scope of what a small team of independent game developers can realistically do. But that’s not true!
All the examples below are indie games with small development teams that still managed to make great strides in accessibility.
Chicory: A Colorful Tale — Can I Play That Accessibility Review shows just how creative you can get with in-game accessibility toggles.
Visually Impaired Review – Untitled Goose Game discusses how immensely helpful an integrated zoom feature and smart visual design can make a game more accessible.
Celeste has an Assist Mode that acts as a sort of customizable “easy mode” you can adjust to suit your unique needs.
HyperDot is a fantastic example of an intentionally challenging game that was still made exceptionally accessible by taking accessibility into consideration from very early on in the development process. You can check out both the Deaf Game Review and Mobility Review for HyperDot on Can I Play That’s HyperDot game page. The game scored a 10/10 on both, a relatively rare score on the site.
Eagle Island - Accessibility outlines all the features Screenwave Media Games put in to the game’s accessibility menu, including a built-in screen reader for all in-game text!
The Sequence Storm Accessibility Report is a great example of how rhythm games can still be decked out with accessibility features.
Accessible Game Feature – Lost and Hound outlines how  game designers can use sound design to make games accessible for completely blind players without locking out other players (such as Deaf and hard of hearing gamers) by lacking visuals altogether.

Alright, so apparently some reviewers of the Hazbin Hotel pilot have been getting automatic copyright claims from Screenwave Media via Content ID, and some people are trying to spin that into a narrative that Vivziepop is attempting to silence criticism of the pilot.
You know... despite the fact that YouTube’s copyright system is notoriously fucking broken and can’t tell the difference between an unauthroized reupload and a fair use review.
She’s using Content ID to stop unauthorized reuploads. Reviews are just getting caught in the crossfire because Content ID fucking sucks.
Use your fucking brains people, jesus christ.

Iron Meat Is A Horror-Themed Version Of Contra And It Has A Free Demo
Iron Meat Is A Horror-Themed Version Of Contra And It Has A Free Demo | #Indiegame #Ironmeat #IndieDev #FreeDemo #Contra #HorrorGaming
Ivan Valeryevic Suvorov and Screenwave Media’s Iron Meat is a true throwback to classic side-scrolling action from the NES and SNES era of gaming. The golden age of console gaming when the little plastic buggers weren’t trying to poorly imitate PCs. The game has a brand new playable demo available that you can download right now from over on the itch.io page. (more…)

Use Your Words (Steam) Review
#UseYourWords #Steam Review!
Parties just aren’t complete without games that give players a chance to show off their comedy chops. Use Your Words is similar in style and implementation to some of the Jackbox Party Pack titles. While it delivers some unique opportunities for laughs, it could benefit from just a little more streamlining. Game Name: Use Your Words Platform(s): Steam, PS4, Xbox One Publisher(s): Screenwave Media…
