Eagle Island Light, Eagle Island (unincorporated territory), East Penobscot Bay, Maine. Lubec native, Charles W. Allen and his family occupied and maintained the light station in the 1920s. In summers they tended a flower garden, and grew vegetables to supplement their food supply.

Eagle Island (1986)
Film review #576
Director: Mats Helge
SYNOPSIS: A military installation in Sweden comes under attack by Russian special forces ninjas. The soldiers on the island attempt to fend them off from obtaining a secret code.
THOUGHTS/ANALYSIS: Eagle Island is a 1986 action film. Set on Eagle Island (unsurprisingly) somewhere near Sweden, a military installation comes under attack from a group of Russian special forces who might also be ninjas, looking for a secret code, and the inhabitants must fend off the attackers. There's not much else to say about the story: it is both completely devoid of any substance, and overly convoluted with additional characters that serve no purpose. The main thread of the story (apart from the Russian ninjas) is a guard on the island who has to escort a woman trespassing on the island to take photos of the eagles that give the island its name back to the mainland. The two inexplicably fall in love and get together, and when they learn about the Russian ninjas, they decide to go back to the island to stop them or something. It sounds like a premise which might be interesting, but there is so little that actually happens in the film you'll be horrendously bored and disappointed that the film doesn't match the premise.
Probably the most disappointing aspect is that the "ninjas" aren't really ninjas at all, and just use weapons. Obviously the film wanted to capitalise on the ninja trend, but without wanting to do the choreography and stunts for it. The action is just the occasional gunfight, and as mentioned the story is all over the place and fails to establish any of the characters in any real depth. The most notable aspect of the film and it's only real saving point is the soundtrack: it is the most eighties soundtrack you can ever imagine, and the synths and beat goes hard. It's actually not a bad soundtrack either, but it is wholly misplaced in this film, and just adds to the sense of confusion experienced while watching. Overall, Eagle Island is a mess that is devoid of any real story, its characters have no personality or development, and the soundtrack is just so out of place it's difficult to comprehend it. You don't need to let you curiosity get the better of you with this one: there's really nothing of value here.

A pair of white-tailed eagles in County Fermanagh have become the first to breed in Northern Ireland in more than 150 years. The birds are four years old and were released on the shores of Lough Derg, County Tipperary in 2020. White-tailed eagles were reintroduced to Ireland by the Golden Eagle Trust (GET) and National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) between 2007 and 2011. News of the discovery was welcomed by the Northern Ireland Raptor Study Group (NIRSG) and Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). The white-tailed eagle, or ‘sea eagle’, is the UK’s largest bird of prey, standing at almost 1m tall, with a huge wingspan of up to 2.4m and a distinctive white tail, as their name suggests. They can live to over 20 years of age, and usually begin breeding at five years old. The conservation effort was to secure a viable population following extinction from Ireland in the late 19th century. From 2007 to 2011, 100 eagle chicks were brought from Norway and released in Killarney National Park, County Kerry. Phase two of the reintroduction, by NPWS, continued in 2020 with more young birds released at a number of sites across Ireland. Each was wing-tagged, with colours relating to their year of birth and many were fitted with satellite tags to track their locations.

Random assorted thoughts apropos of very little;
I found out that Milkweed actually COULD be ecologically valid, but not the way you think. It's another name for Pretty Spurge, so called because it has a milky-white sap.
So I won't need to totally change Milkweed's name when I come around to her
Going to be trying to use orvet to refer to slowworms, a French term that makes a really nice warrior prefix (thanks @graphi-horse-time)
On the subject of the Ivypool super edition, if the awful place with "strange creatures" that the patrol visits ends up being a zoo, I will not stand for zoo slander. I highly doubt that The Erinzzz have targeted critique on the lack of inspectors to uphold the animal welfare guidelines of the Zoo Licensing Act of 1981.
Maybe they'll surprise me.
If not, I'll either change the setting entirely, or portray the welfare of 99% of the animals as superb except for the magic, talking things the Clan cats are trying to bust out.
I could easily make it not a zoo and just an animal center if I have to, a place that keeps domesticated animals. Just have like, James and Jane Smithton accidentally capture two demigods because they caught them rooting around in the bins lmao
