As a young adult, I am so tired of limiting myself to who I can be because of peoples expectations of me.

I am so tired of the friends and adults who watched me grow up saying "I've known you since you were blah blah blah" Shut up, actually shut up.

I am so tired of having to fight to express even a sliver of myself because everyone thinks I haven't changed since I was 12.

I am tired of having to surprise people with who I am.

I am so tired of gaslighting myself into thinking everything about how I feel is a "phase" or "unusual" or "worth keeping an eye on".

I am more than anyone will ever know. I am deeper than the ocean and wider than outer space.

And I am so tired of trying to find a way to articulate that fact.

And for a terrifying moment, I think of how glorious it would be to live in complete isolation.

Because maybe, just maybe, with no one else to pollute my thoughts-

I could finally hear my truest self, whoever that is.
