Life With Derek and Taylor Swift Songs
Songs I associate with Life With Derek, mainly Dasey, from Taylor Swift, and the stories I imagine in my head instead of properly writing them (until now, I guess) If there's any I missed that you have ideas for let me know, and yes this is long.
Tim McGraw: Casey Mcdonald and the way her blue eyes shine. Honestly, this is the type of song Casey would write. It’s cute, storytelling, and detailed. I imagine her writing this song not based on her experience but on a day when her hopeless romantic side feels sad. She imagines what she hopes to have but does not have. She wrote it when she first moved in with the Venturi’s or before Nora and George met.
Picture To Burn: There’s the obvious answer, where this could be about any of Casey’s exes. But honestly, I imagine Casey being dramatic and writing this song after Vicky kissed that boy she had a crush on. Or Vicky dating another guy Casey liked after the guy used Casey to get close to Vicky.
Tear Drops On My Guitar: Another song about Casey being dramatic. But also Derek sad boy hours. He’s glumly playing his guitar and that inspires Casey to write the song, since she doesn’t own a guitar. But don’t tell Derek she wrote a song inspired by him, and don’t tell Casey what that implies… she’ll figure it out eventually…
A Place In This World: Casey Mcdonald. I think this one doesn’t really need an explanation, to be honest.
Cold As You: Could possibly be about Dennis or Abby walking away, but I honestly can’t think of anything for this one. Maybe Casey writes something like this about Vicky after being really mean at one point.
Tied Together With A Smile: Derek Venturi. This could be seen in Casey too a little bit, but she doesn’t try to appear as perfectly fine a lot of the time. She does when it comes to school stuff, but not with her emotions. Derek is the one to put on a fake smile, make a joke and manage to hide what he feels a lot of the time. Even if he isn’t hiding it well, he still isn’t as open about it right away.
The Outside: When Casey first starts at her new school
Stay Beautiful: Cory’s eyes are like a jungle and his butt is gonna sue! I regret nothing. Could be a cute Dasey song, but I just keep remembering Corey Plunkett.
Should’ve Said No: Truman or Scott the cheating scums
Mary’s Song (Oh My My My): Dasey or Nora and George. I personally imagine Casey finding an old journal of Felicia’s and writing this about some of the entries. Maybe it was about Felicia and her husband before the divorce or an old high school romance.
I’m Only Me When I’m With You: Smarti and Smerek. Or the entire family together
Fearless: Dasey. Enough said.
Fifteen: “In your life, you’ll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team.” This song is just so Casey coded and with everything that happened with Max I feel like Casey just really needed a song like this at the time and i see this being one of her favourite songs from Taylor.
Love Story: Dasey. I have this idea called The Shakespeare Debate it’s still a working idea, but it is Dasey. It’s basically Casey being really into plays and thinking Derek doesn’t respect them, Derek being really into film and script analysis and actually enjoying the dark tragedies of shakespeares plays. I also kind of made a whole debate scene where Derek manages to bring up Carrie while talking about Romeo and Juliet just to confuse Casey and end the conversation, but it actually makes sense and that confuses her even more.
White Horse: I just find this song so pretty and Casey being very into fairytales she would totally be into white horses
You Belong With Me: Emily whenever Derek is seeing a girl that isn’t her. Especially when he was dating Kendra
The Way I Loved You: Dasey
The Best Day: God smiles on my little brother, inside and out he’s better than I am. Makes me think of Derek and Edwin. I see Derek actually thinking very highly of Edwin and with his self esteem he probably thinks of everyone very highly compared to himself.
Change: Casey might be scared of change, but I see this song with her.
Superstar: Derek Venturi
Crazier: “Not telling her is driving me crazy.” Dasey. After the whole Scott thing and Derek realises he likes Casey. He hates himself for writing such a sappy song, but he also likes that he managed to write a song.
Mine: So freaking Dasey coded are you kidding me!
Back To December: Derek and Kendra
Speak Now: Derek when Casey married Peter. The kids are against George and Nora getting married in the beginning. Everyone going against Fiona’s wedding because dear god that was awful
Mean: Seems like a song Casey would write
Never Grow Up: Smarti and Smerek
Enchanted: Imagine after junior prom Derek with his guitar in the white jacket. Or maybe it’s sitting nicely draped over the foot of his bed as he is sitting on the floor at the foot of his bed after leaving early once Sally’s boyfriend comes to whatever diner they ended up in. He hears Casey, Max, Sheldon and Emily pull up from his windows at the front of the house as he writes a song about how he realised he’s in love with Casey that night when he saw her coming down the stairs to the living room in a beautiful dress that he actually found, not Emily.
Better Than Revenge: Dedicated to Vicky and Truman. CD Rock totally performed this and Derek was very encouraging of the anger.
Haunted: My favourite song on the album and I mainly think about Dasey just because of the sound. The orchestra rock sound is a perfect combination for Derek and Casey. It can be loosely inspired by Derek and Caseys anger towards Dennis and Abby after they left. It could simply be a song one of them wrote or they both wrote together, after a breakup. The fic idea i have is Derek writing this based more so on an actual haunted experience and from hearing ghost stories. Casey's classical did inspire him a little bit.
Last Kiss: I imagine this being a cute song for Sally and Derek when she moves to Vancouver. But also “I'm not one for dancing but for you I did.” Works for both Dasey and Sally and Derek. He did take her to the dance.
Long Live: Just Life With Derek as a show
Ours: Cute George and Nora song. Felicia was against them, the kids had to grow with it. It just a cute song for them too me.
Electric Touch: A CD Rock song sung by Casey and Derek. The first time Derek manages to actually sing in front of people properly without psyching himself out.
I Can See You: Dasey. But also (even though I don't ship them) I can see this as a Truman and Casey song when she's in her rebellious phase
Castles Crumbling: After Casey breaks up with Max and she quits cheerleading, and she is trying to find herself again. Also her transition from being popular at her old boarding school and starting at a public school. The haunting feel to it makes me think of haunted and since its a duet makes me think of Derek and Casey working on this song together after her and Max breakup, which is after the episode where Casey helps him write a song for Sally. They work together on a few songs after the episode.
Timeless: The epitome of Dasey for me. Just like Mine. I see both Casey and Derek writing this song by themselves, but I really like the idea of Derek writing it though.
Safe and Sound: In Life With Luca Skylar mentioned that Derek would sing her to sleep because the dark freaked her out. I just imagine this as a lullaby he would sing to her and Marti with his guitar.
State of Grace: Dasey
Red: Casey reflecting on her relationship with Max possibly. Derek and Casey write it together and that's where we get the guitar solo
Treacherous: Dasey
I Knew You Were Trouble: Casey dedicates this to Truman
All Too Well: Someone made a really good edit to the 10 minute version for Dasey
I Almost Do: Derek almost tells Casey his feelings multiple times. Wants to call her multiple times while he's out of the country as well, and she wants to call him multiple times despite being with Peter.
Never Ever Getting Back Together: Casey and Sams on again off again relationship
Stay Stay Stay: I can picture Derek showing up in his hockey helmet after his first fight with Kendra.
Last Time: Dasey duet… possibly
Everything Has Changed: “freckles in your smile” Duet with Derek playing guitar.
The Moment I Knew: change up a few lyrics this can be used for absent parents on someone's birthday. I picture this one from Derek's perspective, though since it mentions Christmas lights and I'm Sixteen Smartplugs aired on November 5th, making him a November baby. I don't know the date production wise.
Better Man: Same as The Moment I Knew, but with Casey and Dennis. Some minor changes and the song works well with a dad who wasn't around.
A Message In A Bottle: “You got me hypnotised, by freckles and bright eyes.” this entire song I feel like Casey would dedicate to Derek. She might've been late in telling Derek her feelings before he left for Paris, but this was the best she could do.
Welcome To New York: Casey's year in New York
Blank Space: I think this works for Derek's persona he had in the beginning of the show. Casey definitely viewed him this way before finding out he's actually a really good date.
Style: Dasey. Sidenote: I also picture Derek having his bisexual moment in College with this song. Derek can have his James Dean and his feelings for Casey at the same time.
Out Of The Woods: Dasey
Shake It Off: Someone made a really good edit for Casey to this song. But also Dereks crazy legs. That's enough said.
Wildest Dreams: Dasey
This Love: Dasey
I Know Places: Dasey. Also Derek's secret boyfriend while his band takes off. I have a full story idea about that. I guess his hidden relationship with Skylar's mom works as well.
Clean: Derek eventually having to let go of Casey after she marries Peter and has Luca.
You're In Love: Dasey
Dancing With Our Hands Tied: Dasey. There's a nice edit to this song someone made as well.
Cruel Summer: “He looks up grinning like the devil!” I'd so Derek coded you can't tell me otherwise.
The Archer: Casey and her anxiety, but also Derek and his which isn't as obvious then Casey's but she can see through him when it does come up the same way he can see through her.
Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince: Dasey. “Ripped up my prom dress.”
The 1: Dasey
Exile: “you never gave a warning sign” “I gave so many signs.” I feel like this part in particular is very Dasey coded. But Derek is Taylor's POV and Casey is Bon Iver's. Derek gave so many signs about his feelings for Casey, but Casey took longer to noticed then took even longer to finally think about the possibility to actually give it a try, by then though Derek left for Paris. I don't believe he just up and left with no warning, he definitely had his warnings Casey was either in New York or wasn't taking them seriously. Our boy tried leaving for Spain and Vancouver he was wanting to leave for a while, once he finally had a good reason he took it and the reason was 100% Skylar's mom going to Paris while pregnant.
This Is Me Trying: both Derek and Casey can relate to this one. Lizzie can throw into the mix too, especially in Vacation With Derek.
Illicit Affairs: Dasey. Theres a really good edit to this as well.
Tis The Damn Season: Dasey
Tolerate It: Even without knowing too much about Peter, I think this works for how Casey feels about her marriage. This could also work for a lot of her relationships on the show as well. Max and Sam were simply tolerating her feelings, but that's really it.
Anti-hero: both Casey and Derek coded
You're On Your Own Kid: I see this more for Derek.
Midnight Rain: I can see this working for Dasey
Question…?: I can see this working for Dasey as well.
Paris: I think this one is pretty obvious.
Hope you enjoyed this!

We Ride at Dawn
(Quincey teams up with his friend Miguel to save a third friend Henry from being forcibly married off. They escape on horseback. It ends happily. No one dies)
(Text below Ao3 link. One 13+ phrase has been removed for this post but is present in the Ao3 text)
Quincey was woken from his dreams by Miguel’s reaching in through the bedroom window and tapping on his shoulder. It was early morning.
‘’Quincey, we have work to do.’’
Quincey was up in an instant.
‘’Quick. I have breakfast with me. We can eat as we ride.’’
He ran to tell his brother Robert that he was leaving, put on a broad-brimmed hat and settled on Mariposa.
Miguel handed him buttered toast slathered with honey. The bag was bulging, promising a hearty meal.
‘’Quincey, do you know of Lochinvar?’’ Miguel was now a school-master.
The fourteen-year-old Quincey eagerly shook his head. ‘’Of course! He is the gallant knight of Walter Scott, whose lady-love is to be wed to another. He rides to her father’s home, all alone, on her wedding-day, dances with her, swings her onto his saddle and rides off into the sunset.’’
‘’Quite right. It is time for us to play the part of Lochinvar. Only this time, it is not a fair Ellen, but just our good friend Henry Chapeuax who is to be rescued.’’
‘’Why? Is he marrying already?’’
‘’Hmph. Apparently his father has concluded that the best way to strengthen his business is to marry him to the daughter of his business partner. Poor Henry, he has no inclination to be married. I hear he cries all day.’’
‘’But why do we not know of this wedding? They live just twenty miles away!’’
‘’My friends there say it is a hasty, secretive affair. You do not want too many people tp be there when your son is weeping at the altar.’’
They rode for much of the day and rested for a few short hours. When they reached their destination, it was the last hours of night, and first sickly, pinkish rays could be seen.
Quincey found Henry in a worse state than Miguel had described. He had spent most of the night praying prostrate, passing in and out of consciousness, his face muddy with the endless tears mixed with the grime on his cheeks. On seeing his friends, he rubbed his eyes and tried to put on a brave smile,
Miguel bent low over him and said, ‘’Dry your tears Henry, we are here. Just do as we say.’’
Quincey walked over to Mr Chapeaux and put on his most winning smile. ‘’Please, oh please, Mr Chapeuax, let us teach Henry this dance, it is so pretty, everyone will like it at the Balls.’’
Chapeuax looked at his cherubic face and thought, ‘’I hope this excellent boy can teach something to my good-for-nothing son. And they can’t help him run away, for they can know nothing of my plans.’’
Meanwhile, the three of them walked down the vast passages of the Casa Chapeaux, intending to go to the courtyard for some alfresco rehearsals, which Quincey convinced Mr Chapeaux was absolutely essential to learn the dance. As they were crossing the foyer, he stopped dead in his tracks.
‘’The horses! They must be secured in the stables by now.’’
‘’Not quite so secured. My friend works there.’’
Out in the open-air, the lessons began. Quincey guided. ‘’See, it is not too difficult, 1…2..3…1..2..3.. Now raise your heels, now turn.’’ The dawn air invigorated Henry, who was now smiling, They practiised in broad circles, whose centre would shift with every turn. Soon, they were quite near the stables.
Before anyone could guess what was happening, Miguel sprinted and returned with the horse. Quincey jumped on his and dragged Henry in front of him. The three of them shot out into the rising sun.
Chapeaux, however, was quick to catch on. His thundering calls aroused all of the servants. They were ordered to make preparations for the chase, but they proceeded as slowly as they could. Henry was a very sweet boy, and they all hated to see him doomed to such a life, aged just nineteen. Despite the best efforts of the servants and stable hands, Henry found a whole posse of father, uncles and cousins behind them. Quincey urged Mariposa on.
‘’Quincey! Quincey! I am slipping!’’
‘’Wait. Let me just lay you across the saddle. No Mariposa, don’t slow down. I am holding Henry, he won’t fall.’’
All three reached the Morris’ safe and sound. Somehow, Henry had managed to straighten himself up on the saddle mid-chase. It was arduous, they escaped only because their pursuers could not keep up with their great speed. The horses were foaming at the mouth and Henry begged them to stop so that the horses could rest.
The days passed very happily for Henry. Robert’s spare wardrobe fit him like a charm. He spent many hours each day matching items of clothing in various colour combinations. The rest of the day was spent in reading, painting and walking among Robert’s flower-beds.
One day, not many days after his escape, Chapeaux showed up in their drawing-room. Henry ran and hid in Quincey’s closet. Robert positioned himself in front of his siblings and discreetly placed his finger on the trigger of his pistol.
‘’Morris, I want my son back.’’
‘’I do not turn away anyone who seeks shelter under my roof, least of all someone as innocent as your son.’’
‘’Morris, I am warning you…’’
‘’No. I am warning you. My sons and I are both men of action, we do not waste our words. Stand here any longer, and you risk being thrown out.’’
Chapeaux looked once at the face of Mr Morris, then at the at face of Robert, and thought it was best to leave. Isabella, Quincey’s younger sister gave a whoop of joy and Quincey himself hopped on one leg.
And Henry lived happily ever after.

Name: Josh, but I have been known by many names, Shadow, Cobalt, Sasuke-Mun... Star Sign: Pisces. I'mma feesh Height: I don't know exactly but like, 5'10"? 5'11"? (177cm-180cm) Middle name: David.
Put your itunes/spotify/youtube on shuffle. What are the first 6 songs that popped up?: Oh god, let's see how my music playlist on YouTube is gonna expose me... 1. BIG SHOT feat. Alpharad [Deltarune Metal Cover] - FamilyJules 2. "Spider Dance" (Vocal Music Box Cover // Undertale) - Adriana Figueroa 3. Homestuck - MeGaLoVania - Toby Fox 4. Touhou Luna Nights BGM - Stage 4 Boss - Septette for the Dead Princess - Team Ladybug 5. Eye of the Tiger by Survivor (Duet) - Gawr Gura and Nanashi Mumei 6. PCB Stage 6 Boss - Yuyuko Saigyouji's Theme - Border of Life - ZUN
Well, that could have been a lot worse.
Ever had a poem or song written about you: Not as far as I'm aware, no. Dunno how I'd react if someone had done it... probably would depend on how well I knew them. When was the last time you played air guitar: ...I dunno, actually. I'm way more likely to just jiggle my leg and tap my fingers to the rhythm on whatever hard surface is nearest. Who is your celebrity crush?: Uhhhhh... I dunno. Like, I have a lot of celebrities that I REALLY like, like Robin Williams (R.I.P.) and Daniel Craig, but I'm not really crushing on any celebrities at all? Not that those two would be likely candidates, since I'm a heterosexual guy, but nyeh. What’s a sound you hate? A sound you love?: The sound of people chewing with their mouth open and the sound of polystyrene. Sounds I love though... I'm struggling to think of anything other than meowing. Some meowing, of course. I just like talking to cats and having them talk back. :3
Do you believe in ghosts?: Not really, no. How about aliens: I mean, do you KNOW how big the universe is? No, of course you don't. No-one knows how big the universe is, that's how fucking big it is. And when you look at the sky, and see all those stars? There's even more planets than stars. We cannot be the only planet where life occured and flourished. Like, that's just statistically impossible, I think. Do you drive?: Nah. Honestly, I'm a little scared of learning, and if I did learn I'd probably just work on getting a license for an automatic. A little less to worry about when driving. If so have you ever crashed: I mean, I don't drive, but I've fallen off horses before, does that count?
What was the last book you read?: I mean, if you want a new book I've read... then I have no idea. If you want one that I've re-read, Scott Pilgrim Vol. 2 Do you like the smell of gasoline: ... in small doses. It's just a really heavy smell so a little of it goes a long way.
What was the last movie you saw?: Knives Out!! Such a great film, great to see Daniel Craig proving that he can do more than just James Bond even after so long, and Chris Evans showing that he can still be an asshole after being Captain America for so long. What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?: ...Honestly, it's a bit of a draw. When I fell of the horse, like I mentioned above, I fell onto my back, couldn't get up for a minute, and wasn't in any condition to get back on the horse that day. My arm and shoulder hurt for 2 weeks, and my back was aching for a week or two after that. And that was when I was a teenager. More recently, I ended up falling backwards in a really awkward way and busted both of my kneecaps. Couldn't get up for five minutes, got up, managed to finish my walk home, and then could barely walk for like a week, and my knees still hurt 3 weeks later. That was when I was much older so I dunno which is worse really. Do you have any obsessions right now?: .....Watermelon/Suika Game. Shush.

Quotes in session 2 of DL smp that sounded more dramatic than it should’ve been for a minecraft series (Somehow more evil than the last):
-----
Ren: You came here and cause death, whether you try to or not! There is something wicked within you.
Pearl: I just wanted to have some fun...ok, I’ll go then...
-----
Grian, about Scar: Everyone else get a real partner except me. (Wow ok rude /lh)
-----
Martyn: Look at them, building their happy little home and oh, ‘I’m in love with Scott’ and oh, ‘I’m in love with Cleo and we’re best friends and we have flowers in our hair and we build bridges’ and stuff like that! When is she gonna think about building our bridges!
-----
Etho: Impulse, look at Bdubs right now. That’s what he looks like on his green life, when he gets to red life, there’d be nothing left of that face.
Impulse: He’ll still be beautiful to me.
-----
Scar: Rule of thumb, never mess with my animals. Pizza, Yellow snow, never works out.
(soon after)
Scar, after burning down team rancher’s house: Boys, I want Oreo returned by the end of the session.
-----
Cleo: Do you not want to win Martyn, is that what you’re saying to me. That’s a first for you.
Martyn: I do, but what I’m saying is keep your enemies closer.
Cleo: Well maybe you should go and get Pearl. That way we both have 2 health bars to go through.
-----
Bdubs, to Impulse: I promise I love you more than anybody.
-----
Tango: [Angry noises]
Scar: Where’s the ranch guys, I mean, where are you gonna put the horse if you don’t have a ranch.
-----
Tango: If I’m gonna do this, I need a flint and steel! No-- we have to do better!
Jimmy, trying to speak over everyone egging him on: Tango, let’s think about this-- Tango! Let’s think about this. Don’t go straight over, we gotta talk this through.
-----
BONUS!!
BigB, getting hit by a zombie, to Cleo: A zombie, Cleo.

Please do elaborate about LL!Scar and Bad by Deluxe Royal, I'm interested 👀
Ohooho. You got it! I uh... went ham,
*claps* OKAY! SO,
It all starts with the sounds.
The theme of this music is almost cartoonish in the way it wants to portay 'big, bad, evil' (chanting in a low chorus like a boogeyman "im bad I'm bad as bad can be." behind the main voice.) It reminds me of "How Bad Can I Be?" Which, ahem, while a meme song fits Scar's happy-go-lucky attitude that he upholds regardless of the guts and gore of the situation.
With a dramatic western attitude, the voice is very confident in his own image. It just screams Scar. Big Bad Scar trying to be spooky in that disney villain way he admires and reflects in his video and performance style. Its natural for him, but hes also careful with his words. He pauses, thinks, stalls for time when he speaks to people because if they get him rambling he'll give it all away. He is very very cautious this season in that sense.
Now, the lyrics! Oo I shiver at how well they fit.
If you'd like, we can imagine this "devil" as Grian. People have consistently seen him as a threat, Scott even dramatically and repeatedly calling him a monster. Hes death itself- the one who started it all.
Or, it can simply be other reds. People that Scar so far seems to be cautious of, but never fully intimidated by.
[I made the devil run
I gave him poison just for fun
I had one friend, now there's none
I made the devil run]
The last two refer closely to the comparison of the first season to this one. Grian was quite literally his only true ally, and now Grian frequently leaves him behind at any given moment. It's not fully Scar's fault, but Grian does take some care in talking and making deals with Scar. The game has changes course and they're keeping distant tabs on one another. Scar currently drives people away from staying at his mountain, despite claiming he wants friends. And for some reason (could even be dumb luck) Joel the first and possibly most unstable Red Lifer, lives right next to him and hasn't lifted a finger yet. This I'm certainly exaggerating, but I wonder how cautious Joel is of Scar ("I made the devil run.")
These next 2 lines are the only ones that dont fit easily, as Scar is incredibly clumsy lmfAO. However, I think it speaks poetically with 3 and 4.
[I broke so many bones
But none of them were ever my own
They were an army, I was alone
I broke so many bones]
From Scar and Grians perspective things are very, very light in s1. It does not apply to the others'. In the previous season Scar was terrifying. Ren and others wanted to protect their friends and stay together. Scar wanted to win or put on a show trying. It's why him and Grian make such a good team— they know there are limits to how they can rely on one another.
From the other perspectives all Scar did was talk people out of their resources and scheme to destroy them, regardless of any sort of spoken friendships. He was very, very dangerous. He broke many structural bones so-to-speak in the other teams, including trust and physical resources.
And in the end? It was Scar's little team against Rens whole army that won 3rd Life. ("They were an army, I was alone, I broke so many bones.")
The CHORUS IS MY FAVORITE THO.
[I'm bad, as bad can be
So bad that it's hard to believe
Oh, what they say about me
I'm bad, take a look and see
So bad that it's hard to believe
I don't care what they say about me]
Scar this season is lying to everyone around him. People are cautious, but only the very, very perceptive ones (to name a few: Etho and Scott) are actually catching Scar in his lies. Even then he doesn't let up his own act. This gives him such a good facade.
People are going to underestimate him. Hes so polite to some and to others hes burning them at the stake. Other people talking about Scar are going to find plot holes, twists and turns in attitude that just don't make sense. No one will know what to believe or not. His kindness feels genuine, but so do his threats. ("So bad that it's hard to believe what they say about me.") His gentle attitude makes it really difficult to grasp his violent intentions at times.
And recently, especially with the destruction of a recent horse he seemed to be attached to, he's revealed a little to others about his values. "So bad that it's hard to believe, I don't care what they say about me." He is first and foremost a businessman and a showman. If people are scared? Great! If people think him kind? That's just good for business.
That's the most frightening thing about him being isolated this season: He doesn't care as long as he gets what he wants. But he'll pretend he will up until the second he knows it doesn't matter. No attachments, all deals. If people don't show him kindness he remembers and returns the favor later, and explicitly states he will frequently in his perspective.
Now, to remember 3rd Life S1 again:
[I watched an empire fall
I stormed the gate and scared the walls
They wouldn't share, so I took it all
I watched an empire fall]
A refusal of resources, a few missteps and misconceptions here and there and they had a war on their hands. To Ren, he was fighting for his team and his empire. To Scar, he was made into enemy #1 for... what reason? They did nothing wrong! Just having a bit of fun. All of this is a game and something Scar's character takes much more joy in than some other perspectives. It's not a game in some views, which would make him... what?
Crazy? Literally insane in some sense that he would treat this battlefield like middleschool capture the flag?
They targeted him and Scar simply didn't like it, so he took up arms with Grian and the rest and killed Ren himself. ("They wouldn't share, so I took it all, I watched an empire fall.")
[I'm bad, as bad can be
So bad that it's hard to believe
Oh, what they say about me]
You can't trust what anyone says about Scar, including Scar himself.
(I'm bad, I'm bad, as bad as can be)
I'm bad, take a look and see
So bad that it's hard to believe
I don't care what they say about me]
And he doesn't care about rumors as long as he gets what he wants. He'll take advantage of them.
Akdhakd also this isnt a dig and moreso just a dramatic retelling of how I think this song brings out a more dark idea of Scar's character. All in good fun :). Thank you for enabling me PFTHAHAHA

My Thoughts on Predator 5
It’s been a long time since I talked about anything in relation to the Predator franchise. To me, the franchise has been steadily going down hill with the release of Robert Rodriguez’s 2010 sequel PREDATORS and there didn’t seem to be going back after that movie whatsoever. Bad ideas had begotten more bad ideas in the expanded universe material with the idea that there were Predators who were bigger and badder than the original concept which Stan Winston came up with, that the idea of the original Yautja species was outdated and no longer iconic.
And for nearly eight years, I struggled to hold onto the franchise as a loyal fan. And then when 2018′s sequel, The Predator was released under the direction of Shane Black and written by Fred Dekker... I considered the franchise dead in the water, and that there was nothing short of saving it save for a full on reboot or a massive retcon which kept Predator, Predator 2, and both AVP films in continuity... But I knew I was never going to get that. A fan would have to be hopeful or deluded to think that would happen. Perhaps I was the former, perhaps I was the latter, perhaps I was both.
And then the Disney purchase happened. My greatest fear was finally realized, as the Mouse devoured another company in the film industry and now owned the intellectual rights to both the Alien and Predator franchise. I saw what they are doing to Star Wars, or rather what they were doing-- and I saw what they are doing to Marvel comics-- the MCU being a success but the comics not so much with Disney pandering to the Tumblr and Twitter crowd.
And with the Disney purchase I knew that they were going to do to Alien-Predator with what they did to Star Wars. And that was the erasure of the existing expanded universe material which was published by Dark Horse, the first stewards in creating what used to be a shared universe which was birthed in the comics. Marvel acquired the rights, and so far it doesn’t seem like as if they plan on continuing the continuity laid out by Dark Horse.
In hindsight, I consider this a blessing as I hope they NEVER touch the beloved characters of Dachande, Machiko Noguchi and many other characters that are so beloved by the fandom.
And then I had read that after the DISASTROUS performance and fandom reaction towards Shane Black’s The Predator, that a Predator 5 was going to be put into production. A part of me was hopeful in that this could be a full on retcon of Shane Black’s movie, and maybe Robert Rodriguez’s movie-- or a full on reboot of the franchise. But instead, what we were getting was a prequel to the 1987 John McTiernan movie...
So, this was a movie which... everyone wanted to see. It’s something that’s never really been explored, unless you count the first AVP: Alien vs Predator movie, but those were flashback segments in the film.
Then the details of the movie started coming out, and already it was just... stinking of Disney’s agenda. It would serve as a complete antithesis to what the original movie was-- which let’s face it, was a testosterone injected and masculine 1980s action movie with memorable one liners. The story for this upcoming movie was about a Native American young girl who decides to go up against the tribe patriarchy while also fighting against an enemy never before encountered on Earth.
Now, I am not saying that an action movie cannot have a female protagonist. The Alien films show this and they do it BEAUTIFULLY. But bare in mind, this was handled with care and focus on the story first from both Ridley Scott and James Cameron for the first two Alien films. This could most certainly be done for Predator if in the right hands...
But Disney is NOT what I would consider the right hands, especially considering what Disney has done to Star Wars with the sequel films-- which I now hearing, are about to be retconned out of continuity by the efforts of John Favreau and company much to the displeasure of Kathleen Kennedy.
But this movie just screams everything Anti-Predator. Many fans have even said that this is just Mulan but with a Predator in it. And I have to agree with them.
And then word got out that the Thomas Brothers were fighting for the acquisition of the franchise from the hands of Disney. I say good luck to the Thomas Brothers, especially since they are fighting to get the franchise which they have a major hand in creating from the clutches of Mickey Mouse, but we all know the Mouse has a crack team of lawyers who are going to do whatever they can for their company to keep the franchise.
And then the news gets worse, as now the word is that Predator 5, now titled as Skull, is going to be about the FIRST hunt on planet Earth-- the first visitation by the Predators in a pre-colonial era America. So when this was announced, this was an indicator that both the AVP films were going to be ejected out from the Predator canon, as they were ejected out from the Alien canon with the arrival of Prometheus.
This would mean for both the Alien and Predator franchises, that thirty years of storytelling, thirty years of character development, thirty years of developing the Predator culture, thirty years of a shared universe... Is now destroyed. It’s put on the chopping block, ready to be axed and when that happens... the past has been destroyed. Yes, that pun was intentional as it’s a reference to what Kylo Ren said in one of the Star Wars sequel movies.
And the upcoming movie is rumored to be released only on Hulu because of the legal disputes between the Thomas Brothers and Disney... It might not even get a theater release. And I hope it doesn’t.
To me, the golden era of Alien and Predator has long since passed with the 1990s when Alien vs. Predator was a big thing-- to where even children’s toys were produced by Kenner for it and a side-scrolling beat’em up by Capcom was released. I am quite happy with the 2004 and 2007′s AVP films-- regardless of what anyone else thought of them as I felt they were true to the original source material-- which was the comics and novels, as they spawned the idea of a shared universe.
2010 was where it ALL started falling apart... And now Disney owns it all.
The franchise is dead. Now it’s being desecrated for the greedy corporate shills who just don’t care about the lore and want to see nothing but dollar signs... Of course, Fox wasn’t doing any better with the franchise. It’s been dead since 2018.
I’m not going to see this movie. What made it special is going to be killed off a second time. And I hope it doesn’t release in theatres and that the Thomas Brothers get it back.

home with you - Stiles Stilinksi | everything i wanted
Title: home with you – Part One
Pairing: Stiles x Reader
Summary: Lydia Martin has a cousin. She’s Y/n. She moved in with Lydia and her mother two years ago after tragedy struck in her life. She met Stiles and Scott, and the two boys basically saved her. She developed a crush on Stiles through this, despite him having a crush on her beautiful cousin. People start going missing in Beacon Hills, and Y/n is forced to face her feelings and her ability to save the people she loves.
Word Count: 6.8k
Notes: Finding a title that fit this story was a bit of a task, but I think ‘home with you’ by FKA twigs is pretty fitting in a way for the feelings I have for this story.
This story is based on season 6A of Teen Wolf. It took me three years to finally finish Teen Wolf and season 6A was definitely a favorite of mine. The character development of everyone was just wow. So here we have a Stiles and Reader fic, because this idea hit me. Enjoy. More Stiles fics to come!
Masterlist
********
“Lydia, don’t say that.” You said to your cousin as she picked at her nails.
“What, I thought Stiles would have moved on by now. It’s been what, 4 years?” She popped her gum as she lounged back on her bed. “Aiden and I have been together for a while now, he does know I’m not breaking up with him, right?”
“I’m sure he does, Lyds. Just don’t antagonize him. He can’t help who he likes.” You would much rather not be talking about Stiles’ crush on your cousin with her, but she brought it up when Aiden mentioned that he thought Stiles was still into her.
You sighed and laid back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. This whole thing was not fun to talk about. You hated the way she treated Stiles, yet he still loved her. Two years ago, you moved in with Lydia and her mom after your parents were killed in a freak accident. You and Lydia had always gotten along, but she was definitely not the nicest person. But she’s been getting better.
“Oh I know, why don’t I set him up with someone? That will help him move on, right?” She raised her eyebrows as she grabbed her phone from the table. She started browsing it.
Your heart perked up, hoping she would realize you were the perfect person to set him up with. But she ignored you.
“Stella is a good choice. Wait no, she’s into James. Oh maybe Ellie, oh she’s perfect! Her hair is identical to mine.”
“Except for the fact that Ellie plays for the other team.” You mumbled.
“Wait, she does? I never knew that.”
“Yeah, at that party at Derek’s last year, she was all over that chick from Econ. Hailey I think.”
Lydia sighed and put her phone down. “Well then I don’t know what to do. He needs to move on, like now. I can’t have him stuck on me like this. We’re seniors and I don’t want him following Aiden and I around in school.”
Rolling your eyes, you moved from her bed. “I will talk to him, Lydia. You don’t have to worry.”
Her eyes lit up, “Perfect Y/n! Now I’m meeting Aiden for a late-night talk. Can you cover for me, with my mom?”
“Of course.” You left her room and headed down the hall to yours. It was nice that Natalie Martin took you in, but sometimes Lydia took advantage of you.
A message came through your phone. It was Scott.
Stiles and I have a kid at the station. He’s terrified and we have no clue who his parents are, we need you and Lydia.
Of course she was already gone.
I can help, but Lydia just left with Aiden. I’m the best you got.
Scott and Stiles became good friends with you when you moved to Beacon Hills. Almost immediately you fell for the quirky boy who had way too much energy. He was funny and sweet to you. When you moved, you’d fallen into a depression but somehow him and Scott got you out of it. Especially since they vowed to find out what happened to your parents.
With the help of Sheriff Stilinski, you did find out what happened to your parents. Not that you wanted to remember it right now.
Stiles will be there in 5.
Okay!
You rushed around your room, pulling off the sweatpants you had been wearing and pulling on some jeans. You got one leg in and lost your balance and fell to the ground. Chuckling, you pulled the pants on and searched for shoes to wear. Finally you had finished dressing when you saw Roscoe pull into the driveway. Shoving your phone into your pocket, you were off. Natalie was nowhere to be found, so you didn’t have to convince her to let you go.
Stiles smiled when you hopped into the jeep. “Well hello, little Martin.” He stated with his signature smile.
“I’m the same age as Lydia and you know this.” You quipped as you clicked the seatbelt in.
“Of course, I know this. I’m just joking with you. I only say it because you’re shorter than me and Scott.” He patted your thigh. “We love you regardless.”
Shaking your head, Stiles backed out of the driveway and headed towards the station.
“Damn, I wish I had a growth spurt.” You mumble making Stiles laugh.
“No Y/n, you’re perfect the way you are. Trust me. You don’t need to be taller or anything like that.”
The words warmed your heart. This is why you had a massive crush on him. He was the sweetest man alive.
“Well that was as sweet as pie, Stiles. Now tell me what to expect with this kid?”
Stiles was now in detective mode. You loved how passionate he was about all of this. He had amazing skills that made him valuable to Scott’s pack, despite being human. You on the other hand, felt very useless to the pack. Your cousin was a Banshee, Scott was a werewolf, Malia was a Coyote, and well Stiles was gifted with his detective skills as well as being smart as hell. You were just a human with no special skills to help them. You always did your best when these things happened, but you just weren’t all that useful to them.
“Liam and Hayden found this kid in a car alone. He was mumbling about needing to find his parents, but my dad has no record of them or the kid. We are all simply confused. He was also mumbling about these men who came out of nowhere on horses and stole his parents.” Stiles explained as he stopped at a red light.
“Interesting. What does your dad think?” You asked when you watched the light turn green.
“He thinks he just ran away from home and found an abandoned car to hot wire.” Stiles was not happy with that answer.
“How old is the kid?”
“12 apparently.”
“Okay, what twelve-year-old can hotwire a car? Who’s the car belong to?” Everything was not adding up.
“The car wasn’t registered to anyone. It had no plates. But the windshield was smashed off. The kid said the men on horses shot the car.”
“That doesn’t sound like a runaway kid to me.”
“Same. Scott is not sure what he thinks.”
You put your hand on Stiles’. “What do you think happened?”
He sighed. “I think it was supernatural of course. I’m not sure what, but I feel it in my bones that he didn’t just run away from home. They don’t even have record of this kid.”
“Well then we will find out what it is, won’t we?”
“You want to help?”
“Of course I do, Stiles. You’re my best friend and I believe you when you have a feeling about these things.” Also your feelings for him, made you believe him even more.
The two of you pulled into the station and he led you from the car. Sheriff Stilinski was in his office with Scott and a kid who looked scared and confused.
“I just want to find my parents.” He cried as Sheriff Stilinski looked on in helplessness.
“How do we find his parents if he’s not even in the database?” He asked Scott in a whisper.
Scott looked pensive before a thought hit him. “Well I could use my claws?”
You shook your head. “Scott no, that’s a horrible idea. That will hurt him!”
The kid spoke up. “I will do anything. I just want to find my parents.” You all exchanged looks, unsure of how to precede. Did Scott really want to use his claws on this kid to get answers?
“It’s going to hurt. Are you sure?” He asked him.
“I am. I need to know where my parents are.” He whined, tears clouding his eyes.
“Okay, we have to do this.” Scott looked to Sheriff Stilinski, Stiles, and I.
Stiles’ dad sighed and shut the door, locking it. Then he lowered all the curtains to his office. You stepped back, knowing it would hurt him. Stiles stepped up beside you and took your hand in his. You turned and buried your head into his chest as Scott buried his claws into the neck of this kid. He screamed in agony as Scott delved into his memories. Stiles wrapped his arms around you, blocking out some of the sound.
It all stopped, and Scott fell away from the boy. Stiles loosened his grip and you turned to see a highly confused Scott. The kid was passed out now.
“What did you see?” Stiles asked.
“Nothing. There are no memories of his parents at all. Just him. His name is Alex.” He mumbled, walking away from him.
“How is there no memories of his parents?” Sheriff Stilinski was so confused.
“That’s what I want to know.” You were all left in a state of confusion. Sheriff talked about how he would be keeping Alex at the station until they could locate his parents. Stiles, Scott, and you exited the station.
“We should go look at his house. You did see his house, right?” Stiles said as you three stopped by the jeep.
“I did. I know where it’s at.” Scott stated.
“Then why don’t we go check it out?” He suggested with hope in his eyes.
“Tomorrow we will go. It’s getting late and we have school in the morning.” Scott told him.
“Okay, that’s fine. Let me know if you remember anything else?”
Scott smiled and put on his motorcycle helmet. “Will do. Good luck!” He told him before riding off.
You were confused. “Good luck with what?” You asked as Stiles led you to the car. You hopped in.
“Oh it’s nothing. Can we, uh, go somewhere to talk?” He was suddenly nervous.
“Sure. I’m positive Lydia isn’t home yet and well I didn’t see her mom, so she’s also probably on a date.”
“Good, let’s go.” He started up the jeep and drove off without another word. He was silent as you both drove along with quiet streets of Beacon Hills. Your mind went to what Lydia asked you to do, and your chest tightened with nerves.
Stiles parked the jeep on the edge of the Beacon Hills Preserve. He shut the car off.
“So I actually needed to talk to you about something.” You said knowing you had to do it now or never.
“Sure, go ahead. I have something to say too.” He said with his cute little smile.
You smiled back but felt like bolting from the jeep. You couldn’t believe Lydia was making you do this. “So I was talking to Lydia and she mentioned that she still thinks you have a crush on her. Do you?”
“I don’t know, maybe.” He answered while watching you closely.
“Okay, she said her, and Aiden were talking, and she didn’t like that you still crushed on her. She was rambling on about how she didn’t want you to spend Senior year following her around, especially now that you and Malia are over.”
“That’s good because I have a crush on someone else.”
You barely registered what he said as you continued on. “And I know it sounds mean when she says this. I even told her she couldn’t say that because you are so sweet and don’t deserve that kind of treatment.”
“Of course.”
“I’m so sorry Stiles, I didn’t want to be the one to say it. But she wants to set you up with someone else, and I said it was a horrible idea because I hate when people set you up with others.”
“Mmm hmmm.” He mumbled as he watched you ramble. He loved when you got like this. You were just so dang cute when you rambled without really understanding what the other person was saying.
“Because I think we should be able to choose who we date on our own without being set up.” You stopped when you realized something he’d said. “Wait, did you say you have a crush on someone else?”
Stiles started laughing. “I was wondering when you would catch that. Yes I did, and yes I do have a crush on someone else. Someone who’s beautiful and loyal and just downright adorable all the time. Someone I should have seen ages ago.”
Inside, your heart ached. “Who is she?”
He shook his head. “Well I think you know her, she’s in all my classes.”
Your brain went into overdrive, thinking about all the girls you and Stiles shared class with. There was only a handful that were in all your classes. “Melanie?”
Once again he was laughing. “No. Y/n, it’s you.”
The world stopped. You looked up at the dark-haired boy in front of you. His eyes sparkled in the moonlight as he watched you with curiosity.
You point to him. “You like me?” Then you pointed at yourself.
“I do. Ever since the Chimera stuff, as well as me and Malia drifting apart. I realized I had the perfect girl in front of me. Who is more perfect than she realized.”
“But I’m not Lydia. At all.”
“I don’t want you to be Lydia. My crush on Lydia was infatuation for someone I thought I knew. But she’s been pretty keen on ignoring me for years, despite us now being in the same friend group. After the Nogitsune, I started thinking about why I liked her and realized all my reasons for liking her, didn’t make sense. I think I just wanted her because I couldn’t have her. Does that make sense?”
“It does. But you really like me?”
“I do, a lot.”
Smiling, you leaned forward and kissed him. “I like you too, Stiles. A lot. I have since I moved here.”
He smiled and pulled you into another kiss. Stiles was happy he finally admitted his feelings to you. He’d known you had some sort of feelings for him but because of Lydia, you never said a thing. He knew he was truly over Lydia.
“Then will you let me take you on a date?” Stiles asked with hope in his beautiful amber colored eyes.
“Yes, oh my god, I would love that!” You wrapped your arms around his lean body, and he reciprocated the movement. His arms pulled you close as you leaned over the console of his car, where he kept his police scanner.
He kissed your forehead, then your cheek, and finally your lips. His lips were hot against yours. You leaned into the kiss until the console got to be too much. Stiles pulled away and motioned to the back of the car. You nodded before hopping over the console with Stiles hot on your heels.
His arms wrapped around you as he pulled you close once again. His lips found yours in another searing kiss. You’d wanted this for so long, that you simply melted into his kiss. Stiles licked your lips to get you to open up, and you did. His tongue was quick to find yours. Your mouths meshed together in the most perfect way.
Stiles’ hands wondered your body over your clothes, increasing your excitement. The way your bodies fit together, was truly a magical feeling. The kisses had your head swimming while he caressed you in the sweetest way.
You took a hold of the situation and rolled the two of you, until you were on top of Stiles. Your lips left his and started sucking on his neck. Stiles moaned when you found the spot on his neck that had his body feeling alive. He pushed up against you, allowing you to feel the forming bulge in his jeans.
Smiling, you pulled him into another kiss and this time, your hands were the ones exploring his body. You felt every muscle in his body as your hands trailed it like he’d done with you. Stiles’ hands were gripping your waist, holding you in place so he could still have some sort of control over you. But you had your own plans up your sleeve, and you pressed yourself into the bulge that was pushing up into you.
“Oh shit.” He moaned as you did that. He was not expecting that at all. “My dirty girl is taking control, huh?” He groaned as you rubbed yourself on him. Your pussy was soaked at this point and the friction of you rubbing against him, was sending you on a trip.
“I am.” You whispered as you ground down again.
“Fuck, you’re making it hard to take this slow.” Stiles’ grip had tightened on your waist. He was trying to stop you from grinding yourself down on him again.
“What if I don’t want to go slow?” You’d pulled away to study his face. You counted the moles on his face, dying to kiss him again, so you pushed forward to do just that.
He lightly pulled away. “As much as I love that, I would hate myself if we did that. I want to do this right. I want to take you out and show you the world.”
You bit your lip as you thrust your hips down again. A steady pressure was building in your core, and you were so ready for it to burst.
“Y/n, gosh you’re so fucking sexy.” He let go of his inhibitions and pulled your lips back to his. His hands were now exploring your body again, while yours wrapped around the back of his neck. He pushed himself up against your needy core, causing the sexiest moans to fall from your mouth.
“Please Stiles, I need you.” You moaned when one of his hands grabbed a breast and palmed it.
His lips were hot against your skin. “I need you too, shit.” His head fell back as your core connected with his hard cock. He was so ready to release it and plunge into your needy little pussy.
“Then have me, Stiles, I don’t want to wait. I have wanted this for so long and I want this now.” Despite everything, you wanted to feel him, and you wanted him to fuck you right here and now.
“Yes, I would love that.” He flipped you over, so you were beneath him. Then he leaned over the seats to grab a condom from the glove compartment. He pulled you into another erotic kiss when a cellphone went off. Your cellphone.
“Awe fuck.” You mumbled as you leaned over the seats to grab your phone. It was Natalie.
“Hello.” You asked into the phone.
“Where are you, Y/n. Lydia said you were in your room but you’re not. It’s nearly 12:30.” She kept her voice level as she asked. She was never too strict with you. Not after what happened with your parents.
You mouthed that it was Natalie to Stiles.
“Scott and Stiles needed me for some research for school. We lost track of time.” You said quickly as Stiles frowned.
“Okay, well you need to come home. You have school in the morning.” She stated, not sounding mad.
“I will be right there. Thank you Aunt Natalie.” You hung up the phone.
Stiles dropped the condom in defeat. “No sex, huh?”
“I’m sorry Stiles. I think we really lost track of time.” You kissed his cheek and jumped back into the passenger seat. Stiles followed behind and started the car.
“Well it’s probably for the best. I meant what I said when I told you I wanted to take my time with you. You just distracted me with your charms.” His eyes traveled the length of your body. Your face heated up when he did this.
“Alright, I agree. We did move a little fast. I just lost myself when I was kissing you.”
“I know the feeling. Now, let’s get you home. I don’t need Natalie on my case for keeping her niece out all hours of the night.”
“That ship has sailed. But she likes you anyway. Especially after what you and Scott did for me when I moved here.” You smiled in his direction.
He smiled back and put a hand on your thigh as he drove through Beacon Hills towards the house you lived in with the Martin’s. He didn’t move his hand at all, not until he pulled into the driveway.
“I had fun, Stiles. I can’t believe you like me.” Never in the world would you have expected the night to turn out this way.
“Well believe it, babe. I’m all yours. Now I will see you at school tomorrow.” He leaned over to kiss you sweetly. Not letting this kiss grow out of control.
“Yes, I will see you tomorrow.” You left the jeep and waved bye to him. He stayed in the driveway until you were safely in the house. You stood at the door and watched him leave. A huge smile was planted on your face as you did this.
“Damn, what has you so smiley?” A voice cut through your thoughts. Shutting the door, you found Lydia sitting on the couch watching you.
“I had fun with Scott and Stiles.” You stated, trying to not let her know you had just been making out with Stiles Stilinski in the back of his jeep.
“Sure, that’s totally why you’re smiling. I know you better than that. Who’s the lucky guy?” She stood from the couch and crossed the room to stop in front of you.
“Guy? There’s no guy.” You mumbled, looking away from her.
“Y/n sweetie. Your neck is red like some guy was just sucking on it. Cut the bullshit and tell me who it is. I think I have an idea. But please, do spill.” She smirked as she watched you.
“Uh, it was a friend.” Why couldn’t you just say who it was? It was not like she’d be upset.
She shook her head. “It was Stiles wasn’t it?”
“Um, maybe.”
“It was. He was the one who just dropped you off. Besides, I know you’ve had a crush on him.”
Wait, she knew? “How?”
“Y/n, we’ve been close since birth. I saw all the signs. Why do you think I told you to talk to Stiles tonight?”
“You said you wanted to set him up with someone.”
She laughed. “You, I wanted to set him up with you. I knew if I just nudged you towards him, you would admit your feelings for him. I’m happy he feels the same way.”
“Me too. So you aren’t mad?”
“Why would I be? I wanted him to move on from me and you know I want you to be happy.”
“Thank you, Lydia. I really do like him. I never expected him to like me back though.” Not in the least. Not when your cousin was Lydia.
“How could he not? You’re beautiful Y/n.”
“Because he’s liked you forever.”
“Well it looks like he’s over it. Okay, time for bed. You can tell me all about it tomorrow.” You nodded and the two of you went off to your rooms. A huge smile stayed on your face as you drifted to sleep.
**
You drove with Lydia to school, but you woke up to a ridiculously cute text from Stiles. It was still very unreal that he likes you the way he does. But you knew it was real. The proof was the hickey you had to cover when you woke up. Part of you wanted to leave it there, so people knew, but that was stupid to do.
I hope you slept well, my sweet girl. I was sorta up late when a theory hit me. I did some research; you know how it goes. I can’t wait to see your beautiful face at school. See you soon, gorgeous.
The text had you smiling the whole morning, which freaked Lydia out a little. You texted Stiles back, telling him you couldn’t wait to see him at school. Now that you had expressed your feelings, all you wanted, was to be in his presence.
You pulled up at school and spotted Roscoe in the parking lot, with Stiles leaning against it, with Scott not too far from him. Liam was there too, while Malia had just pulled up to school. Trying to hold in the excitement, you and Lydia joined the group.
Stiles didn’t even hesitate before taking your hand in his. Your group of friends eyed you curiously, but the two of you didn’t really notice at all.
“What’s going on with them?” Scott questioned as he watched the way you both looked at each other.
Lydia chuckled. “Somebody came home extremely late, after being out with Stiles last night. It’s safe to say, the two of them admitted their feelings to each other.” She told them.
“Finally!” Scott shouted, throwing a fist into the air. “It was becoming way too much to keep Stiles’ feelings from Y/n.”
Malia rolled her eyes and smacked Scott on the shoulder. “Knock it off. Stiles was just being Stiles. I knew he would do it eventually.”
You looked to your friends. “You knew he liked me?”
They all nodded, even Liam.
“Shit, he even showed me his feelings for you when we were dating. Stiles isn’t particularly good at hiding his feelings.” Malia stated, wrapping an arm around Scott. The two of them were becoming particularly close since Scott and Kira officially ended things a few months back.
“We also knew Y/n had a crush on Stiles. I mean, I’ve known since it started.” Scott laughed as your face heated up.
“I can’t say I knew about it until Scott told me recently.” Malia admitted.
Liam laughed. “I’ve known since I met you all.”
“Well that’s my cue to go find Aiden. He said he was here early to study.” Lydia waved goodbye before leaving the group.
The fact that all your friends knew that you and Stiles had something for each other but said nothing, was frustrating. “Now that I know my friends have been keeping things from me. Is there anything else you want to tell me?” You said, trying to look serious.
They knew you better than that. “You love us, Y/n. Don’t lie.”
“Perhaps. But I am a little mad at you.”
Stiles chuckled. “No you’re not. You can never stay mad at them for long. They just wanted us to figure it out on our own.” Stiles stated while kissing your cheek.
“I know.” With that, the bell went off and you all headed into the school to go to first period, making plans to meet for lunch in the quad.
*
Lunch rolled around and the group met up in the quad like they said they would. Scott, Malia, Lydia, Aiden, Stiles, and you all sat around the tables. Lydia was particularly invested in Aiden as always.
Stiles was talking about going over to Alex’s house on his break, because the investigator in him couldn’t wait to get more evidence. Luckily, Scott convinced him to wait until after school, where he would be able to go. You were grateful because it would be safer to have Scott with you both.
They were going around taking pictures for the yearbook when they stopped at your table. You all huddled in for the picture. Stiles wrapped an arm around you and held you close as the picture was snapped. Everyone was happy to get a picture of the friend group.
Stiles was practically bouncing off the walls when school ended. You followed him and Scott to Roscoe, you jumped into the back and were all headed to Alex’s house. The closer you got, the more a deep feeling of dread built up in you. Something was up and you kind of didn’t want to know but you had to. Alex needed help.
The jeep pulled up in front of a dark blue house, the same one that Scott had seen when he delved into Alex’s memories. The three of you exited the jeep and headed up to the house. There was something up with it.
Scott led you and Stiles into the home and immediately the three of you were massively confused. It looked like a completely abandoned house. There was hardly any furniture, but the minimal furniture that was there, was dusty as hell.
“Are we sure this is the place you saw?” Stiles asked as he looked around the home.
“Yes, this is the right place.” Scott said as he touched a dining table that had a lone plate setting.
You were silent as you wandered the house. The three of you wandered up the stairs where you found Alex’s room. It was fully furnished, and looked clean and lived in, unlike the rest of the house.
“Oh what the hell is this?” Stiles sighed as we looked at the room.
“This doesn’t make sense. How the hell is the rest of the house empty, but his room is not?”
Scott was silent as he looked at Alex’s belongings. “I’m not sure. This is weird. Let’s see if we can find anything else.” He started to leave the room.
You were looking at the bulletin board when you noticed something odd. There was a picture of Alex, but he was alone, but it was clear there were other people that were supposed to be in the picture with him.
“Stiles, look at this.” He stepped up beside you and took the picture from you.
“Huh, that’s weird. It’s like the others in this picture were completely erased from it.”
“Right, this is not any normal disappearance. Especially since we don’t even know Alex’s parents names.” You flipped the photo, to see if he’d written anything on it, but it was blank.
Stiles stopped short. “Did you hear that?” He muttered as he looked towards the hallway.
Hearing nothing, you shook your head.
He was focused on the door though. “I heard a horse.”
Clearly, he wasn’t joking. You knew when Stiles was joking and right now he was completely silent.
“A horse? Stiles, we’re in a house. There can’t be a horse inside it.”
“Yeah well I hear one and it’s getting louder. Stay here.” He said as he headed for the door. The dread you felt earlier was back and more intense. You looked at the ground and spotted something peculiar. A dirty white bandana laid on the ground. Reaching for it, you saw a flash of a vision. It was some sort of creature on a horse, pointing a gun. You jerked from your thoughts when you heard Scott in the hallway. You rushed to the door.
“Are you okay, Stiles? What happened?” Scott asked as you saw Stiles on the ground. He looked absolutely terrified.
“I saw this ghost rider on a horse. He was coming at me. He was about to shoot me.” He rambled, clearly terrified by the ordeal. Your stomach dropped.
“Stiles, was the ghost rider wearing a handkerchief?” You questioned as Stiles finally pulled himself from the floor.
“No, he didn’t have one on. Why?”
“Because I just found this in Alex’s bedroom.” Holding up the dirty piece of fabric, the two guys studied it. Stiles grabbed it and examined it.
“Shit, let’s see if there is anything else in there.” Scott was quick to go back to the bedroom but stopped when he opened the door. There was no furniture in the room anymore.
“What the hell.” You mumbled, grabbing Stiles’ hand. For the moment, you forgot the vision you had when you touched the fabric Stiles was holding.
The guys were silent as they looked into the room. “We need to get out of here. We need to check on Alex.” All three of you left the house to head to the station. Stiles had handed you the handkerchief again and you studied it while he drove the three of you to the station.
Entering the building, something was very wrong. The cell where Alex had locked himself was empty. No one in the station had any recollection of the boy either. It was like he vanished into thin air, just like the furniture from his room.
“He was taken by the ghost riders.” Stiles said to you and Scott. You had headed back to Beacon Hills High for the Lacrosse scrimmage. Stiles and Scott were late, but coach didn’t really seem to notice.
“Hey, why are you wearing my jersey?” Stiles asked a random kid when he walked by in Stiles’ 24 jersey.
“Coach gave it to me at practice yesterday.” He said with a shrug before walking off.
“Huh, what the hell. Why would coach do that? Did he forget to tell me something?”
Scott shrugged. “Not sure man. Let’s head in to change for the scrimmage.” Scott left you and Stiles for the school. Stiles was looking after the guy who wore his jersey.
“Are you okay, Stiles?” You asked, jerking him from his thoughts.
“Yeah, this is just weird.” You agreed and followed him into the school.
“Hey, I forgot some of my homework in my locker. I need to go grab that. I will meet you in a few.” You told Stiles as you both entered the school. His hand was locked in yours. He was on edge and you could feel it just by the way he held your hand. “Hey Stiles, take a deep breath. You’re going to give yourself a panic attack.” You whispered while putting a hand on his cheek.
He looked to you. “I’m okay.” He assured, kissing you before telling you to get your homework.
You nodded and walked away, feeling like something bad was about to happen. The vision popped back into your head as you walked towards your locker. Why and how did you get a vision? That shouldn’t be possible. At all.
Rummaging through your locker, you looked through your belongings to find the book you need for your homework. You stopped short when you felt someone behind you. You glanced back and saw no one at all. Shaking off the feeling, you found the book you needed and slipped it into your bag.
As you were headed back to Stiles, you saw him looking extremely distraught. You rushed back to him and took his hand in yours.
“What’s wrong?” You whispered making him look down at you.
“They don’t remember me.” He said with a frown.
“Who doesn’t remember you?”
“Your Aunt. Liam, Hayden, and Mason. My dad.” None of them remember me.” His voice was low. You felt the panic building.
“Shit, what’s happening?”
Stiles looked behind him. “They are here.” He gripped your hand tighter and pulled you out of the school.
“Who’s here?” You stopped when you heard the distinct sound of horses.
“The ghost riders. They are back.” He raced around. You could hear them, but you didn’t see them and that scared you.
“Where are they. I can hear them?” You jumped when you heard it from your left. Stiles led you away from them.
“You hear them?”
“Yes.”
“Come on, we have to get out of here.” The two of you ran to his jeep and jumped in. He tried to start it, looking up every other second. When the jeep wouldn’t start. He gave up.
“Y/n listen to me. They are going to take me. This is what they do. They take people and make everyone forget they ever existed. I need you to help me. I need you to remember me.” He said, the panic increasing.
“What, no they can’t take you!”
“They are. Listen baby. I love you; I need you to remember me and help them find me. You have to do this for me.” He was now holding your hands in his.
“Please no, you can’t go. I just got you. I need you.” You whined, feeling tears dripping from your eyes. The sounds of the horses were loud, and you knew you were completely surrounded by them.
“I know, baby. I don’t want this. I need you to stay strong.” He wiped away some of the tears that streamed from your eyes.
“Don’t leave me Stiles. I love you. Please.” He was now crying too.
“I’m sorry baby. I don’t have a choice.” He grabbed your head and pulled you into one last passionate kiss before the door flung open and he was pulled from the jeep. “Remember me, Y/n!” Those were the last words you heard from Stiles before he was completely gone.
“Please no!” You yelled as he disappeared from existence. The tears flowed heavier down your cheeks as the weight of the situation hit you. Stiles was gone and you weren’t sure if he would come back.
Everything hurt. Your heart ached in your chest as you cried for Stiles. It was unreal that he had been taken from you. The two of you only just realized how much you liked each other and now he was gone. The biggest fear was that you would forget him. You didn’t want that.
Holding your hands to your chest, you cried for the boy you now knew you loved. He’d been a huge reason why you were still alive after losing your parents. He pulled you from the dark depression that threatened to claim you.
The two of you had danced around your feelings for way too long, but now it had been ripped out from under you.
“Stiles please, come back! I need you.” You mumbled as the tears never ceased falling.
You glanced in the backseat to see a jacket. Stiles’ jacket. You grabbed it and as you touched it, another vision popped into your head. It was Stiles, being thrown off the horse by one of the ghost riders. The vision was so quick that you couldn’t see where he was at. But it gave you a small sense of hope that you could see him again.
The tears still fell as you grappled with the weight of the heartbreak you felt. It was like losing your parents all over again. The world felt incomplete and you weren’t sure what to do.
The fear of forgetting Stiles, made you stay right in his car. Curled up in the back seats as you mourned his disappearance and prayed he would return to you.
At some point, you managed to drift to sleep but you were plagued by nightmares of the ghost riders, taking the ones you loved. Taking Stiles from you over and over again. It was about 3 am when you were awakened with a start.
There was a loud ringing in your ears, that scared you. You noticed you were in Stiles’ car alone. The disorientation from sleep, made you forget where Stiles was. But the weight of the loss hit you like a freight train.
The ringing was coming from outside the car. You pulled yourself up and jumped the seats to get out. The ringing was loud outside the door. A flash of gold caught your eye.
Bending down, you studied the gold object. It was an old-style pocket watch. You reached down to grab it. The ringing stopped once you held the strange object.
Opening the watch, you noted that the time was stopped at 8:43. The time Stiles had been cruelly ripped from the jeep by the invisible ghost riders.
You closed the watch and turned it over. There were initials on the back. ‘GD’.
“I think that belongs to me.” A voice startled you. You turned to find an unfamiliar man behind you.
“Who are you? What are you doing here so late?” You asked, taking a step back from him.
“I’m a teacher here, and I lost track of time because well it looks like I dropped my watch out here.” There was something unsettling about him. “I’m Mr. Douglas, one of the new teachers here.” He added.
“Okay.” You watched him closely.
“Can I have my watch back?” He eyed the gold piece in your hands.
“Oh yes, here.” You handed him the watch, hoping he would leave you alone.
“Thank you, darling.” He placed the watch in his pocket. “What are you doing out here so late anyway? Alone I might add.”
“I’m not alone, I’m here with my boyfriend.” Your heart constricted when you said that.
“Where is he?” A sick smirk entered his face. “I don’t see him around here, Y/n.”
Chills went through your body. You had never met this guy, so how the hell did he know your name.
“Uh, I have to go.” You quickly hopped back into the jeep and locked the doors. Mr. Douglas stood outside and watched you. The keys were still in the ignition, so you turned them and hoped the jeep would start. It did.
As quickly as you could, you raced away from the school in Stiles’ jeep Roscoe.

LIGHTS, parker (1/?)
– summary: in which y/n and peter had secrets
– warnings: curse words!
“hey y/n.” you knew that tone, you also knew that it wasn’t going to be a pleasant conversation. “yes, peter?” you flashed a smile at him, easing off the tension. “i don’t think i’ll be able to come to our sleepover this week.” he apologized.
you were looking forward to spend the night with your long-term best friend and his other 2 friends (who were also your best bitches). “mj has decor duties this saturday, and ned’s going to that weeb convention… i guess it’s cancelled. but that’s okay! what are you up to?”
“i- i have an internship.” you furrowed his eyebrows. sure peter was smart, but he wasn’t smart enough to fool you. although it was true he applied for internships, you didn’t think he would score one. “what internship? how come you’ve never talked about this?” you were concerned. “it’s a stark internship. and i’m not supposed to talk about this to anyone.”
a stark internship was something to be proud off, without feeling any more suspicion towards your best friend, you hugged peter. “oh my god baby, congrats!” he flustered as he heard you calling him with his favorite nickname.
“thanks! i never thought i’d be able to score a freakin’ stark internship!” the two of you continued walking to the cafeteria. “hey guys!” ned greeted you with a wink. “my handsome sir ned! and my girlfriend mj!” she rolled her eyes and threw a protein bar at you. “guess what? i got an internship!” peter announced.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆
there was something off about this whole situation. you couldn’t shake off the weird feeling of peter being away from you. and with your enhanced senses, you knew he was lying. and he probably knew that you knew he was lying, but being the good friend you were – he knew you wouldn’t pry.
because of the canceled sleepover – you decided to go to and hone your skills. you took a deep breath and let the weapon control you.
“good shot!” the man behind you praised you. “if you were aiming for my horses.” he continued, as he picked up his own bow. “haha, very nice barton.” you nudged at your trainer. “do you believe in fate?” the brown haired man suddenly asked you.
“depends on what situation you’re talking about.” you answered him. “i think it’s fate that you decided to spend your friday night here.” you raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue his sentence. “and i think it’s fate that someone needs your help, lights.” your eyes widened in shock.
lights. it was the nickname nick fury gave you whenever he wanted you to use your powers. light manipulation was your speciality, other than bow and arrows like the old man next to you. it wasn’t very powerful, but with your reflexes – it was something else.
“nice to see you, l/n. i guess clint has already explained what we’re up to… and if you wanna back out now, i understand.” you shook your head. “no, no. i took an oath with clint that no matter what happens, we’ll stay on your side.” the captain smiled and patted her back.
“everyone, this is lights. their power is light manipulation. there’s no time for formal introduction, suit up. take what you need.”
the costume fury gave you was still a prized possession. it was similar to clint’s but the color scheme was white and gray, you had a ninja-like mask covering your lower face in order to protect your identity.
they divided the team into three; sam and bucky were together. clint and wanda were on the south side of the field. steve, scott and you were together. you had trained with steve several times; and you knew the two of you were made for each other in the field.
the plan was for steve to go first and bait the opposite team. you were on top of a truck, not far behind from steve – but far enough for them to not see you. the captain was surrounded by tony’s team. you spotted a tiny scott giving you some signals.
you quickly ran to the group, lifting your arms to blind them with your power. everyone squinted their eyes, giving time for scott to return back to his default size. “i believe this is yours, captain.” scott took back the shield from the red-suited person.
“really, you brought out lights for your fight? what were they doing? chemistry homework? come on, steve.” tony scrunched up his nose. “no, it’s our fight. and they will defend their choice too.” steve gripped the shield tighter than before. “then we fight for what we believe in.” tony stated, preparing for his battle.
your head was too in the game to think about your best friend, who was coincidentally on a stark internship – while tony stark himself was right in front of you, avoiding the blinding lights from your palms.
“nice to see you lights, last time we met you were still playing plasma ball catch with me, and you didn’t know anything about politics!” he sassed you. “last time i saw you, you wouldn’t hold back!” you knew he was holding back his strength. “that’s because we have someone your size!” right before you could take the lights out of his suit – your hands were tied.
the string-like substances annoyed you. “what the hell is this!” you gritted your teeth, trying your best to break free. “sorry bro! i will try to protect mr. stark!”
you froze for a second. you knew that voice, and you knew that tone. you took a second to look at the boy on top of the container. that voice belonged to none other than your best friend. you sighed in frustration and conjured sharp lights from your veins, freeing yourself.
“hey, i can tie your legs too so you won’t escape!” you didn’t want to speak, he would immediately know that it was you. “cat got your tongue?” he swung in front of you, shooting his web to your legs, but to your luck – he missed.
“you’re gonna regret that, baby.” the boy landed in front of you. “y/n?” right before he could say anything, you blinded him with lights, causing him to fall on his back. “sorry baby, but we don’t know each other here!” you shouted, conjuring some plasma balls to trap him.
your best friend stood up and swung to another container, as you prepared to conjure more lights. “oh we’re gonna have a long ass talk after this battle.”

Slides and Serendipity
Part Eight (4.5k)
Masterlist
AN: Lots of stuff happening. Also I wrote most of this after emptying an entire bottle of cider by myself so I take no responsibility for any mistakes (yes I sunk that low)
Warnings: probably swearing (idek anymore), alcohol?
“I’m in trouble Lisa, he’s definitely trouble”, I said to my best friend as I stood in my closet, phone pressed to my ear. Ever since the party my thoughts had been running wild and I had come to the realization that I couldn’t handle being just friends with benefits with Tyler. Right now it was more like friends with one-sided feelings.
“Yeah I saw that coming from a mile away. What changed?”
I told her how I’d been the last one to leave Tyler’s house at the party last week. After dancing around with Roope and Jamie I’d sat outside for a while to cool off, Tyler joining me on the sofa not long after. He’d started pestering me for juicy details of my threesome, but Lisa and I had promised each other to not tell any specifics. As soon as he realized that I wouldn’t tell him who it was with he gave up on the topic, switching to something less intrusive instead.
We’d spent the rest of the night there, only leaving once to grab more blankets as the temperature dropped. With my legs tucked underneath me and his arm around my body, apparently I’d looked like I was cold, we’d spent hours talking and trying to see the stars dimmed by the city lights. As the time had passed I’d found myself snuggling closer and closer but at one point I practically couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore.
He tried to convince me to stay, but with my house only being a five minute walk away there was no logical reason to accept his offer, even if I really wanted to. The dogs had all found comfortable spots on his couch to sleep and the sight was so domestic that it almost broke my heart to wake Yogi up so we could leave.
Tyler had insisted on walking me home again and as I hugged him goodbye I knew that I was in some deep shit. It wasn’t like I’d actively tried to avoid falling for anyone up to this point, I’d just had a more it’ll happen when it happens approach, meaning I didn’t particularly look for anyone either.
In hindsight I should have seen it coming with the amount of time we spent with each other and the way he reminded me of the one guy I’d ever had feelings for but yet it still took me by surprise.
He’d texted me a couple of times while being away and saying that I wasn’t looking forward to his snapchats would be a lie.
“So what are you going to do now?”, Lisa asked after listening to me telling her about what happened. I had thought about this a lot, especially since Tyler had asked me to come over for a bit before his first game of the pre season tonight. I wanted to go and watch in person but Mia wasn’t free tonight and I didn’t want to go by myself, so I promised I’d cheer on him from the confines of my couch.
Mia, Jason and I had finished working on our first day together an hour ago and I had just stepped out of the shower when Lisa had finally returned my calls.
“I don’t really have a choice, either it’s just friends or something more and I’m pretty sure that that isn’t what he is looking for right now.” I didn’t want to ruin our friendship by admitting anything to him prematurely so my only option was to wait for him to take the first step.
“You don’t know that.”
“Well no but I don’t know, seems highly unlikely.”
I put her on speaker as I put on some yoga pants and a loose shirt and when I looked at my screen I saw that I had a message from Tyler.
Ty: I’m cooking do you want some?
Me: Depends on what you’re cooking because I’m not in the mood for food poisoning
Ty: Funny as always..
Ty: Pasta, salmon and some salad I think even I can handle that
I hadn’t eaten lunch yet either, so I called for Yogi and then told Lisa that I had to hang up now.
“Go get your man.”
“Fuck off Lisa.”
The weather was nice today so it came as no surprise that Gerry was enjoying the pool, Marshall and Cash still wet from having taken a dip themselves sometime before we arrived. Yogi was more than happy to join the action and I already dreaded having to brush out the tangles in his fur tonight.
The food actually smelled really good and this time I let Tyler tell me what to do, as I didn’t want to mess with any pre-game superstitions. He did let me make some adjustments to the pasta sauce though. We took our meals outside so we could properly enjoy the sunshine, something I knew we both liked to do.
I tried to act normal and I was pretty sure that I was doing a great job or at least Tyler didn’t let it on if he picked up on something being off.
It was crazy, ever since my realization my feelings had snowballed and now I found myself overthinking every little action, trying to figure out what was going on in his head while also being confused of the mess that was my thoughts.
Afterwards we settled in the media room to watch some kind of animal documentary that Jamie had recommended, but we ended up mostly just talking and laughing until it was time for his nap and for me to go home again. Time always seemed to fly with him.
“I won’t wish you good luck because you’re definitely too good for that. Have fun tonight Ty, I’ll be watching closely.”
“Thanks, I’ll try my best to put one in the net for you.”
I hugged him closely and he pressed a kiss to my temple, making my thoughts go crazy. Perhaps him leaving for over a week on a roadtrip after the game would give me some much needed distance.
He didn’t put one in the net for me that night and I felt bad for him because of the loss, even if it was still only a pre season game. The team had been doing well after that, winning the following two games but Tyler hadn’t been on the ice for those.
Mia had asked me to go out with her because Elias would be staying with her grandparents for the weekend and without having any say in it I found myself in a crowded country bar on a Saturday evening. I’d even donned some boots that Mia had dug up from somewhere but I drew the line at the jeans shorts and a flannel, opting for long skinny jeans and a normal shirt instead. The boots were cute but I was nowhere near a country girl so the full get-up would only feel phony.
Mia taught me some dance moves and I even tried riding the bull-thingy, unsurprisingly not lasting very long. It did make me thirsty though so I made my way over to the bar, which offered a broad selection of beers to my delight.
“I could give you some lessons if you want me to”, I heard a voice next to me. I turned to my left and recognized the guy who had sat on the bull before me. While the time he lasted on the damn thing was impressive in itself, I’d been more captivated by his looks.
He had given me a ‘The Longest Ride’ vibe from the moment I laid eyes on him, a dark haired version of Scott Eastwood. For a second I contemplated shooting him down, but he gave off genuinely nice guy vibes with his bright smile and I could really use the distraction right now.
“How about we start with a drink instead?”, I asked, giving him my best smile. He chuckled but waved over the bartender nevertheless, ordering a round of shots and beer after taking a look at the bottle that I had in my hand.
His name was Mark and he had to lean down to hear me because he was so tall. This made me miss my heels but I also kind of liked the way he had to get close to me during our conversation at the bar.
“I’m actually here with a friend though and I don’t want to abandon her.”
“No need for that, why don’t you just bring her over to our booth over there?” He pointed over to a small group of guys that could have made up the cover of a cowboy calendar. Mia would be more than happy to spend some time with them.
She didn’t mind at all, of course, only telling me that this reminded her of our days in college when we didn’t have to spend any money at all and still stumbled out of the club drunk.
Hours later I was still dancing with Mark but what had started innocently was not so innocent by now. He had taken off his flannel long ago and his cowboy hat was now firmly planted on my hair while got to enjoy his tan skin and muscular built, results of hard work on his horse ranch.
I hadn’t gotten laid in almost two months and all the confusion from the situation with Tyler made me want to go further than I usually did with random strangers. It also helped that he could be the lead actor in any country romance movie. Mia seemed to really get along with one of his friends who promised to take good care of her and gave me his address so I could hunt him down if needed. Let’s just say it wasn’t like she minded me disappearing either.
It wasn’t until the next morning, after seeing Mark out, that I realized that I had forgotten to check on Tyler’s game, his messages from last night still unopened and portraying the frustration he felt after playing and having to watch Minnesota put six in the net.
Tonight I would finally get to watch Tyler play. I had to miss the game on Thursday because I had to attend some meetings for Bumble in Austin yesterday but now it was finally time.
After a brutal workout at the gym I’d gone over to his house in the morning to make breakfast after his morning skate, something that had somehow turned into our weekend routine.
It was the last game of the pre season and against Denver out of all teams. Mara had texted me earlier to tell me that while she was still rooting for the Avs, she wouldn’t be mad if they lost tonight, which was a compliment in itself.
Mia had arranged for a sitter so she could come to the game with me and I insisted on going over to AAC early so we could watch the warmups, wanting her to get the full experience for her very first ice hockey game. I didn’t have a Stars jersey but I did own a hoodie in victory green. Tyler had offered to hook me up with some merch but I declined because I honestly couldn’t handle wearing his jersey right now.
Mark had been an alright distraction but as soon as I saw Tyler again after the trip I was reminded of the mixed feelings that I was desperately trying to get in order.
The sex with Mark had been fun, although not mindblowing, and under different circumstances I probably would have hooked up with him again but I needed to get my shit together first. While throwing myself under someone else to get over whatever this thing with Tyler was sounded very appealing, I knew that it would only distract me for so long.
Mia honked from my driveway, ripping me out of my thoughts and I checked Yogi’s food and water again before grabbing my things and making my way out of the door. Following Emily’s recommendation I had installed a doggy door that would only open when a chip in his collar got close, meaning he was free to roam the backyard as he wished while still not enabling any instrusions. It was kind of ugly but I’d figure out a way to make it look good. This way he would be fine on his own for the next couple of hours at least.
I could tell that Mia was excited, her choice of music only pumping her up even more. I was really looking forward to this as well. My last hockey game had been during the playoffs in Denver and while watching the games on TV so far was fine, nothing beat watching them live.
We were early enough to still snatch a spot up at the glass for warmups next to a family, something I’d never experienced either. Whenever I’d go with the girls one of us had always taken longer than planned so by the time we’d make it to the arena we could only watch from our seats.
Mia and I had seen each other almost every day of the week so far, but yet we still found things to talk about until the guys finally stepped onto the ice. After passing some pucks Tyler skated a lap around the rink, stopping in front of us when he finally spotted me.
“Look who finally made it”, he teased and I was tempted to flip him off but I was also very aware of the many eyes watching our every move so I only stuck my tongue out at him.
“Yeah and you better win tonight or I’m not coming again.” I was kidding of course.
“I guess I have no choice then.”
“I know you’ll do great. Go ahead and crush them”, I said and he looked like he wanted to say something, but then stopped himself, which of course only made me curious. It was times like this where I was almost convinced that perhaps he liked me back as well but I knew how unlikely that was. I might not be a professional athlete but I did understand the perks of not settling down as well.
He was called over for some drills, effectively breaking the look we shared right now and he shot a quick smile at me before tapping his stick to the glass and then skating off.
“Just friends my ass”, Mia whispered in my ear and I elbowed her in turn. I was surprised that she’d picked up on the weird tension between Tyler and I. We’d talked about him a couple of times during the week, especially as we’d made plans for the game tonight, but I hadn’t told anyone but Lisa about my current dilemma. She sensed I wasn’t in the mood to elaborate though and quickly let it go after that, which I was really thankful for.
After the warmups we decided to grab some food and drinks before finally settling in our seats. Katie had asked us to join her and the others up in the box but I declined, wanting to spend some one on one time with an old friend during the game. Besides I’d be up there during opening night soon enough.
The game wasn’t off to a very good start and while the first period was action packed on both sides, it left the Stars trailing behind by two goals. Mia was a bit confused at first but I gave her a quick crash course and soon enough she picked up on the mood in the arena, following the lead of the other fans on when to cheer and when to boo.
I used intermission to wait in the ridiculously long line for the restrooms and to check my phone, Mara flooding the group chat with messages that were practically a play by play of the game. I shot a quick text to Tyler, even if I knew that he probably wouldn’t get a look at his phone until after the game.
It was different to watch a game when you actually knew the players on the ice. I probably hadn’t been this on the edge of my seat during any sporting event since the soccer world cup finals in 2014.
After Tyler finally scored my screaming could probably be heard by Mara all the way in Denver. Mia and I were hugging each other, way too excited for the Avs still being in the lead.
Colorado scored again in the third and at this point I was already considering my options on how to cheer Tyler up. Mentally I was already going through my cute animals folder to pick out the cutest puppies to show Tyler afterwards, something that always made me feel better.
With less than four minutes left the Stars scored and Tyler had the assist so it was back to screaming and jumping for Mia and I. By the time Jamie scored to even out the score we were practically wrapped around each other, hoping for one last goal.
It didn’t happen and overtime wasn’t any better, not for lack of trying though.
“Your first time watching a hockey game and you get to watch a shootout you lucky bitch.”
“I’m just glad because this time it will be easy to follow the puck, the stupid thing moves so fast that I lose it every few seconds.”
At this point we couldn’t even stay seated if we wanted to, not that we did, because everyone else was on their feet to see what would happen. Shootouts were always brutal and not for the first time that night I was glad that I’d put on some lipstick because otherwise my lips would probably bleed from constantly biting them. Life hack by the way.
With the sound of the final buzzer I was pulled into the arms of the middle aged man to my left that I had never seen before, but I didn’t mind because I was so happy that the Stars had won. For this being only a pre season game things surely had escalated quickly.
Mia was still buzzing by the time we made our way out of the arena, enthusiastically recounting her favorite moments of the game. She would probably never watch games on TV but I knew from experience that it was hard not to fall for hockey when you got to watch games live. Perhaps I could take her again sometime, I had a feeling that she’d like glass seats even better.
The amount of fans trying to leave at the same time had slowed us down quite a bit so we were still at the parking garage when I felt my phone buzz with a call.
“Hey Ty what’s up?”
“Sorry I just got out of the shower or I would have called sooner but I wanted to ask if you want to come out with us tonight. You should bring your friend too, we’re celebrating the end of a good pre season.”
I really tried not to think of him dripping wet from his shower but it still took me a couple of seconds to relay his invitation to Mia.
“Sorry I can’t, the sitter can’t stay over that late but you should definitely go out with them.” I didn’t want to abandon Mia in the parking lot like this, but she practically forced me to say yes and not soon after I was led through the arena by a security guard that Tyler had sent.
There was a group already waiting outside the locker rooms when I arrived, some of the guys greeting me enthusiastically. Roope even went as far as to lift me up so he could spin me around, saying that I was their good luck charm. I didn’t spot Tyler yet but I did see some of the girls so I made my way over to them. Some people must have already left, especially the players with kids, but the group was still big due to some of the rookies coming along as well.
I was just talking to Katie and Dominika about the game when I felt strong arms wrap around me from behind. By now I was very familiar with Tyler’s scent so I didn’t even hesitate before reaching up to put my hands on his forearms, tilting my head so I could smile up at him.
“We won so that means you can never miss a home game again”, he said and I laughed, not quite remembering that part of the agreement but also not willing to protest either.
The group must have finally been complete because now everyone was walking towards the exit, making a lot of noise and drawing looks from the few remaining employees.
I’d gotten my fair share of VIP treatment, money does solve a lot of problems after all, but yet I never really got used to the judging looks of people when security guards usher you through. The bouncers didn’t even question the presence of the rookies, even though some of them were definitely still underage, yet another bonus. It was the same club I’d been to with the girls a couple of weeks ago but up in the lounge everything was much more relaxed and the tables were actually clean.
“First round of shots is on me as a thank you for being so nice to me ever since I met all of you”, I called out before handing the waitress my credit card, loud cheering erupting from the rest of the group.
“Ooof our sugar mama, look at that shiny black”, Katie whooped and I just winked at her, receiving a kiss on the cheek in return. Meeting Tyler had been great in itself, but the friends I had made through him were a close second. I’d endure an eternity of unrequited feelings if it meant getting to keep everyone else in my life.
Several rounds of shots later I was out of breath from all the dancing, choosing to take a break in the lounge once again. Our group was split up by now, some lingering up here and others still tearing up the dance floor. I’d done my fair share of dancing as well, jumping around with the boys and pulling out the sexy moves with the girls. Hockey players definitely came in clutch for that part, as not a single guy came up to bother us, too scared of the human fridges that always kept a watchful eyes on us.
I’d danced with Tyler the most, his slight lack of rhythm being a great excuse to make him wrap his arms around me so I could ‘guide’ him. Perhaps I was a masochist after all.
I could spot Esa and Anna having a dance off with Klinger and Fanny from my spot against the railing and I watched them for a while before looking around some more.
Tyler was standing close to the bar, currently talking to one of his friends that had arrived some time after us. Tonight had been the first night where I could see his NHL fame in full action and it was both mesmerizing and terrifying to watch.
At all the other parties he’d known the other guests to some capacity at least so it wasn’t as bad, but tonight I got to watch girls literally throw themselves at him. Yes literally, I’d watched one of them ‘accidentally’ trip so he had to prevent her from falling not long ago. Some waited until I left his side, some just straight up didn’t care, interrupting our conversations or dancing without any regard for me. To my surprise I’d seen him turn down every single one of them so far but it was like a Roman battle formation, others always stepped up to close the gap. They were hot, there was no doubt about that and if I’d swing that way I’d definitely pick up some of them myself.
“I’m surprised Tyler let you out of his reach.” Roope’s voice ripped me out of my people watching trance and I looked up to him in question.
“I just overheard some of the rookies talking about how you’re fair game because they think that he hasn’t locked you down yet. I kinda want one of them to make a move so I can watch him put them in their place, he knows what’s going on.”
“You’re being mean. You were a rookie not so long ago.”
“Yeah and I had to deal with lots of shit so now it’s my turn.” I only shook my head at his ridiculousness, not really wanting to respond to his statement. Technically they were right and no matter how much I tried to convince myself of the opposite, that definitely stung a little bit.
“I’m being a good friend right now so I’m telling you that there’s this girl who’s been looking at you all evening and she looks like she’s nice. You could even braid each other’s hair,” I deflected, pointing towards the girl in question. Roope shoved me before flipping me off but his smile said that he’d go down to talk to her either way.
I chugged down the last few sips of my beer, quickly making my way back downstairs before any of the rookies could act out on their stupid idea. I doubted that Tyler would actually lash out at them if they did but I also didn’t want to tempt fate. Tyler waved me over as soon as he saw me walking down the stairs and I slowly made my way towards him, the writhing sweaty bodies and my height, or lack thereof, not helping at all.
I wasn’t even surprised anymore when he pulled me towards him as soon as I finally made it. Despite his bad boy looks I knew by now that he was a big teddy bear who loved to cuddle, the alcohol only making it worse. Or better, because he gave amazing hugs. He’d introduced me to his friend a while ago and I seamlessly slipped into their conversation until Tyler took me by surprise when he asked me if I was ready to leave yet. A closer look made it clear how exhausted he really was, his tired eyes not something I’d noticed up until this point.
“I honestly would’ve just gone straight home after the game but the others practically forced me to invite you along so I had no other choice because I wanted to spend some time with you”, he said once we had made ourselves comfortable in the backseat of the uber.
My heart was doing somersaults of course but my brain told me that it couldn’t keep up reminding me for much longer that there was no way he actually liked me back. I’d never been on this side of feelings and I definitely wasn’t handling it well.

Kentucky's Finest- Prologue
So fair warning, it's been some time since I've written and I had to redo my master list cuz my dumb drunkass accidentally deleted it. But I wanted to write a new fic that happened to be a series so here goes
WC- 1.3k
Warnings- maybe a few cuss words?
You never thought that when you first starting riding horses, you would end up as a 5* Eventer much less being able to compete alongside international Olympians. But yet, there you sat on the big couch in the compound looking at the email your trainer had sent you.
“Don’t throw up. We have some work to do.” Mumbling more to yourself, ignoring the now cold coffee you put when you got the alert.
“Why aren’t we throwing up and what are we working on?”
“Jesus Christ Sam, bang a foot or hand on something I don’t need another heart attack!” Grabbing your chest when the man walked in, quieter then you expected. While he wasn’t the quietest of the bunch, you were rather distracted so for you know he could have been walking like an elephant and you still wouldn’t notice.
“My trainer sent me an email. I’m going to Kentucky?”
Thus began the stare. The same stare he managed to adopt from both Bucky and Steve. Looking straight into your soul and learning all your darkest secrets. This went on for what felt like hours when realistically it was probably less than 2 minutes. Next thing you know, you’re no longer on the couch but instead being bear hugged while hearing the clear sounds of poppers and suspiciously a confetti canon.
“Yeah girl we know, she sent us the email first because she wanted to surprise you.”
“Plus it gave me an excuse to finally use my confetti canon.” Peter chirps in from literally out of nowhere while the rest of team files in, also from seemingly out of nowhere.
“Girl if you thought you wouldn’t make it this year then you’re crazy.” Steve replies, acting like he’s forgotten how much of a fever dream the year had been. You give him the Nordstrom look. A look you inherited, apparently, from great Aunt. All he can do is blush and look at his feet.
Taking a look around the room, you see proud faces, even if they wouldn’t admit there’s the smallest bit of concern. COVID had really put a dent on things and for the longest time you had no physical contact with any of your friends. Yes you were isolating in one of the spare rooms above the barn and would talk to the team in one of the big fields, socially distant of course, it still wasn’t the same. Nothing ever was.
They’d still be going out on missions, improved suits with face masks to help protect, while you were still training, and only ever leaving for competitions, getting tested before and after to be safe. You and your grooms had gotten lucky. Tony and Pepper were hell bent on keeping you three safe. Not that any of you minded.
Pulling you out of the trance, Sam lets you go to make the rounds of hugs. Slowly but surely, working your way around the now crowded room, you also see Nina and Bekah somehow got into the compound, hugging you as well.
“You bitches! You both knew didn’t you?”
“Eh, we wanted to see if you’d notice anything.” Nina confirming your thoughts. You had noticed during your sets that morning the girls were being a bit more giggly than normal, but chalked it up to some tiktok they’d seen.
“Hey all that matters is you’re finally making your debut. And at Kentucky no less.” Turning around from the semicircle that seemed to surround you, eyes sparkling and face flushing; a smile is on your face quicker than white on rice.
“Bucky!” You squeal, do a hop, skip, and a jump move, before hugging him with the same ferocity you see in those movies with the airport scenes. Unbeknownst to you to looks from everyone else that the pair of you were receiving. All you could focus on was the smell of sandalwood and dirt, and the warmth, regardless of the difference in appendages.
He pulls back from you and simply holds you there, looking at you as though you hung the moon and stars. Not that you’re any better, but it takes Bekah pulling at your shoulder for you to get back to your senses.
“Besides Doll, if anyone’s earned it from this hellhole year, it’s definitely you.” Looking back at the man, you notice the slightest hint of red on his cheeks, going all the way up to his ears.
“Buck that means a lot to me.”
“Anytime Doll.”
Going back to the email she had sent, you start going over the dates and training schedules she’s mapped out. Morning sets with yoga midday, lifting in the afternoon, and a second yoga practice after to stretch all the muscles. You don’t even bother looking at the meal plan knowing she’s already sent it to Pepper, who in turn gave Friday all the specifics. You were all set, complete with a workout schedule for not just yourself but your boys as well.
And the thought honestly scared you. Yes you were most assuredly on the younger side of the start list, barely even 25 but making it to the same level as Olympians, but you knew you had gotten lucky while having talent at the same time. A combination of both knowing how to get what you need, and being at the right place at the right time. And you knew that, your trainer also knew to make sure you knew that too.
You weren’t her only student, but you were the most experienced; though that didn’t stop her from making you clean out the boys’ stalls every morning. Whenever the donkey of Ridiculous Six came by, talk about being humbled.
For the remainder of the night, while most of the group went back to their rooms, you stayed on the couch to go over timelines, costs, and general necessities, Bucky and Peter kept quiet company, providing a presence in your otherwise, now very stressful life ahead. Trying not to think too much about what this means for your career, you bid the boys goodnight and head off to your room, thankful you only share the floor with Scott, when he’s in New York at least, and Bucky. Though the did sometimes contribute to your stress levels.
“Friday turn the shower on please.” The A.I. turning it to the exact temperature of your preference; hot enough to still annoy anyone who’d happen to share shower space with you. The room you had was definitely too big for your liking, but Pepper was your godmother and she wanted nothing but the best. Being in charge of Stark Industries got you the best. Though that never stopped you from the occasional splurge at Target.
You took time to get all the knots in hair out, wearing a hairnet for 5 hours of the day was always 5 hours too many. But you weren’t about to tell Delilah that. Woman was scary enough as it was. Eventually you made your way out of the shower and continued with your post shower routine, however unaware of the presence lurking by the door.
With how large the rooms were you never bothered closing your room door until you were sleeping. Not to mention you had 2 very large mirrors in the bathroom that gave one rather flustered super soldier a view of tattoos he wasn’t even aware you had. Bucky didn’t peg you as a tattoo girl, but to be fair he never really pegged you as a girl who did much apart from riding. So the second he looked up and saw you switching out your belly ring too, his face may as well have been a tomato from how red it was. Bucky left pretty quick after that hoping he’s even able to get an ounce of sleep with this new knowledge in his head.

…
Fire alarm blared as the room filled with thick, black smoke. An acidic, burning smell filled their nostrils as Brunnhilde and Carol escaped the room, coughing. Smoke stung their eyes and formed tears. They sat on the floor outside the room, panting in defeat.
"I had no… no idea this would be so difficult," said Brunnhilde, catching her breath. "To think I signed up for this," Carol shook her head, "should have listened to Fury."
"Where do you think we went wrong? We followed everything that was mentioned in the briefing," wondered Brunnhilde.
"Well," Carol looked at her, "I don't think I should have used the plasma blasters. That's probably what set the device off."
“As far as plans go, that wasn’t a good one,” commented Brunnhilde. “It was your plan!” exclaimed Carol. “I didn’t think you’d actually say yes!” Brunnhilde retorted.
They got up, brushing the dust off themselves when Sam and Maria came rushing into the room. "What the hell were you doing?" shouted Maria, looking at the destruction in shock.
"Fury assigned us to a mission for today, but things did not go well," Carol admitted.
"Fury gave you an assignment for today?" asked Sam.
"Yes," replied Brunnhilde.
"For Morgan's birthday?" he inquired.
"Yes."
"Did he ask you to bake a cake?"
"Yes."
"And you burned down the kitchen?!"
Carol looked sheepishly at Brunnhilde.
"Weren't Scott and Banner in charge of the birthday cake?" wondered Maria.
"They were, but they had to help with the decorations, as Bucky was a little jumpy around balloons," noting her confused face, Brunnhilde added, "Somebody kept popping the balloons." Maria nodded in acknowledgement as Sam snickered.
"So what do we do now? Should we just order the cake from a bakery?" suggested Maria.
"No. We took this mission and we will see that it is completed," announced a determined Carol.
"Boy you need Martha Stewart to pull this off in such a short time," claimed Sam whole assessing the damage to the kitchen.
"Who is she? Can we bring her in?" asked Brunnhilde.
"I will ask the tag team to locate her right away," added Carol.
"No no! You won't lay a finger on Martha Stewart!" Sam spoke in panic, "I have her recipe book on simple cakes for beginners. You can use it in my kitchen. Just, don't plasma-fry my oven. I can't have a hangry Winter Soldier staying with me."
"Hangry? Don't you mean hungry?" Maria corrected him. "Please! Have you seen the guy? He's always angry. It gets worse when he's hungry on top of it."
Brunnhilde and Carol looked at each other, "Are you sure we don't need Martha Stewart here?"
"Yes absolutely!" asserted Sam.
"You have 3 hours ladies. Good luck," Maria departed with a reminder.
3 hours later...
The birthday party had just begun at the Stark Farmhouse. The house had been transformed to resemble a castle, with balloons, streamers and other decorations dotting the surrounding lawn.
"Everybody! Welcome the birthday girl, Princess Morgan, Ruler of the Cheeseburgers Kingdom!" Peter Parker announced as he accompanied the little girl dressed in a princess costume. Everyone cheered and welcomed the cute princess with confetti and hugs.
Pepper went around the party with Morgan, greeting everyone and thanking them for coming. "Happy," she called out to him, "Where is the cake?" He tapped his pockets, trying to find his mobile, "Let me call and check."
Just as he was about to dial Carol's number, he heard the sound of wings flapping from somewhere above him. Soon, he was covered in the shadow of Brunnhilde's regal white Pegasus, descending on the grounds.
"We are here!" she announced from her seat on the winged-horse. "With cupcakes!" added Carol from behind her.
"Ooooo a flying horse! Look mamma a flying horse!" Morgan excitedly sprinted towards the animal. "Wow! I wasn't expecting the Pegasus Brunnhilde! Thank you for the surprise," said an astonished Pepper. "Yeah well, we thought what does every princess need? A flying horse that she can ride into battle!" Brunnhilde beamed in response.
"Exactly! Say Morgan, do you wanna ride the Pegasus with Aunt Carol and Aunt Brunnhilde?" Carol asked the birthday girl. "YAY!!" Morgan screamed with joy, "Mamma can I go with them? Pplleeeeeaasseee??" she pleaded with her puppy eyes. "Uummm maybe after you have cut and eaten your birthday cake?" suggested Pepper.
"Birthday cupcakes not cake," Carol corrected Pepper, "We just thought cupcakes would be easier for everyone to handle and would save the hassle of cutting and serving each slice."
"Aahh makes sense," Pepper agreed and led them towards the table where they could set up the cupcakes.
"Our distraction is working so far," Brunnhilde whispered to Carol as they started unpacking the boxes. "Let's hope we get away with the next part," muttered Carol.
"Okay everyone! Can I have your attention please?" Carol clapped her hands together and everyone looked at her. "We have another surprise planned for this party! Here we have a large cupcake only for our birthday princess to cut and eat," she gestured towards a cupcake that was a little larger than the others in size due to spillage of the batter. It was coated with multicolored sprinkles, M&Ms and marshmallows. The cupcake was basically a 6-hour worth of sugar rush packed in a bite.
"And for the rest of us, there are plain cupcakes which you can decorate with 5 different coloured icing options! Isn't that fun?" continued Carol, trying her best to be enthusiastic.
"5 icing options? Awesome!" said Peter Parker excitedly.
"Oooo so many different colours that you can eat," Mantis looked at the different icing bags with wonder.
"I am Groot." "He says thank you for also including the brown colored icing," Rocket translated for Groot.
"Aawww you are welcome Groot," replied Brunnhilde.
"C'mon everyone let's sing Happy Birthday and cut the cake," Happy announced.
In hindsight, everyone could have prepared better for this moment. You see, the thing with the Happy Birthday song is that it has different variations not just on earth, but also across the galaxy. Shuri, Okoye and T'Challa chanted calmly in isiXhosa while Drax stomped his feet in tune with his song. Brunnhilde and Thor sang the Asguardian version by flailing their arms around. Rocket and Nebula covered their ears as Mantis shrieked. The rest of the earthlings hummed/sang along at different tempos, with Peter Quill ending on a high note ".... to yoooooooooouuuuu!"
Morgan looked around happily at the cacophony of birthday songs and blew the candle on her cupcake.
As the others started crowding around the cupcake stand, Maria expressed her concerns, "Have you guys eaten these?" she said, gesturing towards the cupcakes.
"Ha. Ha," Carol laughed sarcastically, "Don't worry we had them tested in the lab. They are safe to eat."
"Y'all baked cupcakes, made different frostings, and got here in just 3 hours? Especially after that fiasco in the kitchen? Spill the tea sis," Shuri cocked an eyebrow at them.
Both Brunnhilde and Carol looked at each other with confusion. "We didn't spill any tea. Although we did knock over a jar of coffee beans," said a confused Brunnhilde.
"Yeah and how do you know about the disaster in the kitchen?" inquired Carol.
"It's trending on Twitter," Shuri shrugged nonchalantly.
"Who put it there?" they both asked in unison.
"I did!" Shuri confessed with a smirk and left to play with Morgan, who was busy admiring the giant Pegasus.
Bucky came over to their stand, unsure of the choices. He tentatively picked up a plain cupcake, thanked them, and quietly headed for a corner. Calling out after him, Sam asked Bucky to wait. Sam quickly took an icing bag and started frosting swirls on his cupcake. He looked at the 2 ladies, "Do I dare ask about my kitchen? Has it survived your baking endeavours?"
"Yes yes of course. We only had to use the fire extinguisher once," Brunnhilde reassured him.
"Twice," Carol reminded her.
"Oh right. Yeah twice. But everything else is good!" Brunnhilde beamed at him.
Sam shook his head and went ahead to join Bucky. To Carol's surprise, they exchanged their cupcakes as they sat on the bench.
Almost half of the cupcakes were now gone, leaving the tabletop in a mess. While Brunnhilde was busy teaching everyone to ride her Pegasus, Carol was busy bursting the balloons filled with confetti above Morgan.
Rhodey approached Brunnhilde as she landed the Pegasus with Nebula. The blue alien looked visibly happy when the winged-horse nudged her playfully. "Thank you for bringing this guy over here," said Rhodey, acknowledging the animal. "It was nothing. Anything for little Morgan," Brunnhilde brushed him off. "And it's also a good distraction from the fact that there's no birthday cake and y'all are clueless when it comes to decorating cupcakes," Rhodey added with a smirk.
Brunnhilde chucked. There was no pulling a fast one on Rhodey. "So what's going on between you two?" he playfully elbowed her. "Nothing much really. We spend some time together whenever she comes back, which is hardly ever. But that's really all there is to it."
"And you can't join her on her travels because?" Rhodey paused for her to fill in.
"I am a Queen Rhodey. I am responsible for my people. They have nobody on Earth other than me. And you, of all the people, know how difficult the government is. I mean it's not our fault that we are more advanced than the entire human civilization!"
Rhodey sighed defeatedly, "I hear you. More governments across the globe are increasingly losing sympathy for the Asguardians. I know you have already considered this before, but are you sure you want to keep your people on Earth? Don't get me wrong, I love having you guys around. It's just that the Council isn't exactly happy with the fact that there are literally aliens living amongst us."
Brunnhilde considered him solemnly, "It's not that easy to just find an empty planet in the galaxy and inhabit it. There is always some or the other governing body who would have an issue." She kicked a stone out of her way as she continued, "Behind all its glitz and gold, Asgard has a bloody history, one that is marred by the destruction of civilizations. Any other planet familiar with it wouldn't be as kind to us as Earth. At least here, it helps that Thor is a popular figure."
"And have you shared this with Ms I-Got-Plasma-Cannon-Blasters-In-My-Hands?" Rhodey nodded towards Carol.
Chuckling, she shook her head, "She has enough problems of the galaxy on her shoulders. I don't want to add on to that. I just want her to relax and enjoy herself when she comes back home."
Home. There was another reason she didn't share with Rhodey. Brunnhilde was scared that if the Asguardians moved to another planet, Carol might stop visiting her afterall. For her, Earth was her home, where she was born. And even though they hadn't discussed the extent of their "relationship", Brunnhilde didn't want to lose Carol. After the battle with Hela where the love of her life had bled to death in her arms, Brunnhilde had been scared to be with someone. But now, she was terrified of being alone.
Brunnhilde didn't realise she was standing alone on the ground, gazing into space when Carol's voice brought her back to earth. "Hey what's wrong?" she cooed. "Ahh nothing much really," Brunnhilde managed to compose herself as the despondent memories of her lonely time on Sakaar dispersed from her mind. "Had fun with the balloons?" she inquired.
"Yeah, until Pepper said no to the use of superpowers at the party," Carol pouted.
"How are we supposed to keep ourselves entertained then?"
"Clint for one found a few magic tricks to practise on the Strange Doctor," Carol gestured towards Clint where he excitedly removed a quarter from behind Doctor Strange's ear, who looked ready to send Clint into the dark dimension.
"And as for us," Carol continued in her honey-sweet voice, "I can think of a few things we can do to entertain each other," she said with a wink.
"Not at a kid's birthday party!" Brunnhilde dramatically gasped.
"I was talking about sharing a cupcake! What were you thinking?" Carol giggled as she revealed the cupcake from behind her back. It had an uneven, squiggly heart piped on it with pink icing.
Brunnhilde laughed as she looked at the heart, "Are you sure we should eat it?"
"Eh, everybody else seems okay. Wouldn't kill us to eat at least one."
"You never know. WE baked this," Brunnhilde chuckled as they sat on the lawn, enjoying the setting sun.
"Ummm so listen. Have you heard about this planet called Nyorg? It is around 12 jumps from Asgard, in the Androyorg galaxy?" asked Carol.
"I think so. Isn't that the planet which went barren a few thousand years ago?"
Carol nodded in confirmation. "I was recently inspecting that planet for signs of life. Few patches across the planet are already covered with trees and grass. There are tiny streams and lakes which supply a steady amount of water. Also, the houses that people left behind are still there. But they do need repairs."
"Why are you telling me all this?" Brunnhilde looked at her with curiosity.
Carol hung her shoulders, "I know the problems Asguardians are facing on Earth. This is not your home. And it will never be. The best option for you guys is to start over, you know that too."
Brunnhilde squinted her eyes at her. "Are the Mnoreyags okay with us residing on their planet?"
"Technically, they abandoned the planet 4,578 thousand years ago. So they have no claim over it. Still, I spoke with the head of the Mnoreyags and he is happy to concede his claim on the planet," Carol assured her.
"But what does he want in return from Asgard?"
"Nothing," Carol said a little too quickly, averting her gaze and instead looking down at the grass.
Brunnhilde held her chin and turned Carol to face her. "What did you offer him?" she asked her gently.
Carol placed her head on Brunnhilde's shoulder, "He wants my blood sample to try and recreate my superpowers."
"But that's -"
"I know. It can be disastrous. But I am hoping Asgard regains its past glory and power to help stop the threat," Carol smiled hopefully.
Brunnhilde shook her head in dismay.
Sensing her hesitation, Carol continued, "The Nine Realms that Asgard guarded are no longer under your command or protection. You know better than anyone that peace and order must be restored in the realms. And for that, Asgard needs to become powerful. Worst case scenario? We will deal with the Mnoreyags if they manage to replicate my powers."
"You shouldn't have to do this for me," Brunnhilde whispered sadly.
"There's nothing I wouldn't do for you, my Majesty," Carol rested her forehead on Brunnhilde's.
Sudden explosions in the sky demanded their attention. Beautiful patterns of fireworks lit the darkening sky. Brunnhilde noticed the colours from the fireworks highlighted Carol's features in the most beautiful way possible.
"No," she said abruptly, to Carol's surprise, "No, you will not give your blood sample to those Mnoreyags idiots. They abandoned that planet. They have no right over it."
"But we need to give up something-,"
"The Queen of Asgard will never give up anything of hers. Ever," Brunnhilde interrupted her with a smile.
Tears filled Carol's eyes when she realised the importance of that statement.
They shared a quiet kiss amidst the hub hub of the party, with the stars in the night sky promising a brighter, better future.

Grandma Tourismo - Re-Review #44
Wouldn’t we all love to have a Grandma like Sally? Yes everyone, meet Sally. It was, after all, about time someone gave her a name besides ‘Grandma’.
“It’s Sally. Call me Sally.”
For the record, I still adore these dice. They are exactly the type of thing I can imagine fitting in with the Tracy boys lives. I think they belonged to Jeff, or the boys’ Granddad.
And the rescue operation is in full swing!
“Virgil are you fully prepared for today’s mission?”
“Everything’s A-Ok, John.”
“Sure you don’t need backup?”
“Situation under control. Cargo pod is go.”
Yes! Hang on... cargo pod? Yeah, not quite the rescue I originally thought they were setting it up to be.
Those dramatics zooms! It’s only Grandma, remember!
“Let’s do some shopping!”
“This is going to be so much fun.”
I don’t think you could possibly be any more sarcastic, Virgil.
And let the shopping list of Tracy Island be unveiled. P.S. I always thought it was a shame that the paper covered up whatever grand expression Virgil probably made at the sheer length of it.
Suppressant something (Grandma’s hand is in the way)
Toilet Paper
Hairspray
Hawaiian Shirts (this one makes so much sense after ‘The Long Reach’ too, but really, where were the Pink Flamingos? Still raging)
Plant food
Protein Powder
Celery crunch bars (um, last episode’s vow forgotten so speedily Gordon? That’s the last time luck with give up promises ever works for him)
Toothpaste
Piano Strings
Fire Extinguishers
Tanning lotion
Tofu
Multivitamins
Snooker cues
Apple Pie
Bagels
Lemon squeezer
Pillow case
Anti-rust spray
Extra cable
Oh, I know - let’s play a game! Assign someone to every item on the shopping list. I know I have my ideas about what is for whom.
Also, it’s nice to see a really sneaky TOS nod there.
Played in ‘Operation Crash Dive’, ‘Move and You’re Dead’, ‘Security Hazard’ and ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’. I believe there was also a scene shot for ‘Edge of Impact’, but I can’t remember off the top of my busy head whether it made in into the final cut or not. So, I wonder where they’ve been hiding this on Tracy Island?
“Grab some of that super shine gel for Scotty. I’ve never seen a boy spend so much time combing his hair.”
This. This is one of my absolute favourite lines ever in the history of TAG. Because we all knew this was Scott without it needing to be confirmed - and this is also definitely where Gordon gets his nickname streak from.
“Detour!”
Grandma really is a task shopper. And you know what, I love how Virgil knows exactly what that sole word means.
Remember this scene from ‘Unplugged’? Well, this is that episode, but in series 2 and a lightly new form. The thing which has stayed the same? The team up of Virgil and Grandma. Interesting choice for that pairing, but it makes so much sense for it to be Virgil. He’ll joke, but never at her expense, he defends her cooking, he accompanies her on shopping trips, he listens to her, he even seems to take after her. At this point in time, I always thought this was just a nice way to explore that relationship - by the time we get to ‘The Long Reach’ it’s a whole lot more than that. One thing that storyline didn’t disappoint on was tying up this relationship in a neat little bow.
“We’ve got a situation.”
Of course we do, because this family can’t even get through shopping without interruption - which I’m guessing might be the norm as they speed out of the shop with non-paid for goods (note, us normal humans would all be arrested on the spot for this, so do not attempt it in your local store).
“Hey!”
“Put it on our account!”
Or maybe they - like many others - just didn’t want to argue with Grandma. Wisely so.
“This is my job, Grandma.”
“And worrying about you boys is mine.”
Just a really nice little family moment here. The nuggets like this are part of what made this show for me. They tell more than any massive display could.
What a great landing - in fact, there were many great landings in this episode.
Talk about just going along for the ride, hey? I think there was a lot more than that on display.
“I can’t be two places at once, Thunderbird Five.”
“You don’t have to be, I’ll go.”
“Grandma there’s no way you can steer through a storm.”
“Isn’t that what you have your fancy autopilot for?”
“She’ll be safe in Thunderbird Two.”
“The ship will do the work. I’m just going along for the ride.”
“Okay, I’ll program the autopilot to take you straight there and back. You won’t need to touch anything.”
I love how all that concern was disguised with the same look he gives Gordon to not touch his ship.
“Look after her.”
After all these years, I still can’t work out exactly who this line is for. It’s one of those beautiful lines which has such a lovely level of ambiguity. It’s obviously about Grandma, but it also references his ship and there is just a gorgeous level of family and responsibility balanced out in this episode.
“Grandma...”
“I didn’t touch a thing.”
And lovely little chunks of humour interspersed.
“Can you reprogram the autopilot to do that?”
“No. For that we’d need Virgil to pilot remotely.”
Even the communications were all go in this episode. Honestly, sometimes John is so much more than go-between.
“Is Grandma ok?”
“She’s fine, but she needs your help with the rescue.”
“The storm’s about to hit here. I need to get these guys out.”
“The storm’s already here. And this young woman isn’t going to make it, unless you help me get this ship to her.
“Sorry guys, this will just take a minute. Someone needs are help.”
“Go for it.”
Well, those guys weren’t really in a position to say no, were they? I mean they need IR’s help too, and I probably would have been tempted to leave them there if they started getting on their high horses. Good people besides the Tracy’s do exist in the world of TAG and this episode had a really nice mix of them. No obnoxious rescuees.
“Let’s just hope I can do this.”
“I heard that. Of course you can do it.”
“Perfect!”
“You did it!”
Of course he did. He’s Virgil Tracy of International Rescue, and that’s his Grandma.
“There’s no getting out in this! We need to stabilise the building.”
“John, we’re gonna’ have to ride it out down here. Can you make sure Grandma stays put?”
“I’ll tell her to put on the coffee pot.”
“You’re with International Rescue?”
Never judge a book by it’s cover.
“You could say that. I’m the Tracy boys Grandma.”
“Kate. And I’m really pleased to see you Grandma Tracy.”
This was so interesting to watch! What you do when you’re stuck in a Thunderbird.
“I’d offer you something to eat, but I’m all out of homemade cookies. As the boy’s would say, lucky for you.”
And one of my favourites;
“John, be a dear.”
I love it when Grandma says that! We saw her do it in ‘Volcano’ too and it was grand.
“Now if we’re lucky all we do is sit here until this blows over.”
I’ll just clear my throat at the idiocy of saying that as Virgil slides expertly across the floor to hold the roof up. And yes, it was possible to do and type this sentence in the time that move took.
“International Rescue, we have a situation.”
“I think our luck may have just run out.”
Predictable...
“The shifting sands are putting extra weight on the structure. It’s not gonna’ hold much longer. John, if we don’t find a way out of here, we’re not gonna’ make it!”
“Yes you are! I’m coming to get you!”
“Grandma, there’s no way. The storm is interfering with my autopilot, and I’ve got my hands full. I can’t remotely fly you back.”
“Don’t need remote control or autopilot. I’ll do it.
“You?”
“Have a little faith, boys.”
Yeah, have some faith. I think there’s a song lyric there;
You gotta have faith
Back to the conversation at hand;
“Who do you think taught your Dad to fly?”
“But that was a single engine plane.”
“And a long, long, long time ago.”
We so often see Grandma sat here at the desk (like above), so in this episode it’s really nice to see her in the driving seat. Age doesn’t have to stop anyone, and this episode was a brilliant piece of script writing to showcase Grandma’s place in IR. She is far more than just anyone’s Grandma and I love how the tension of this episode really built up with the pressures of duty and family.
Oh, the history that is here! I adored that little chunk of life we got a look into.
“You’re following your dream. Good for you.”
Do this, people, it’s one of the best pieces of advise on the planet. I’ve been doing it, and it’s working out pretty well for me so far. I’ve interacted with animals I honestly thought I would never meet, met amazing people and seen the world from many angles. Whatever your dream is, it’s worth doing it.
“Was this your dream?”
“It was my son’s dream, to help people. And now it’s my Grandsons. And I’m happy to support them.”
“Virgil, how are you holding up?”
“Oh, it could be better.”
“Well don’t you worry, I’ll be there any minute. You tell the others.’“
“My Grandma says don’t worry. She’s coming to pick us up.”
“Your Grandma?”
The look on Virgil’s face which just speaks not to underestimate her.
“I can do this. I think.”
“I heard that. Of course you can do it.”
“Of course I can.”
This moment is the sort of writing I live for. It was so nice to see Grandma’s own words thrown back at her. Everyone needs a little positive reinforcement from time to time. I’m sure Virgil can forgive the little scratch on Two’s paintwork.
The hats! It was a really nice touch and look at how happy Grandma looks in hers. Kate doesn’t know what she’s got herself in for in meeting this family. Little taps of those dice for luck.
“Hurry, Grandma, CO2 levels are critical.”
“We’re not gonna’ make it.”
You were saying?
“I’ve never been more glad to see anyone’s Grandma in my life!”
Too right you haven’t. And Virgil had move moves than Kayo in this episode, even with all his equipment on. I love the fact that Virgil is holding the dice now! Oh, they were so a small thing, but they managed to make them matter so much. Sometimes it’s the little things which matter the most.
“Not so fast! We gotta go back and finish our shopping!”
I think that might be the face of someone who would prefer another rescue than a conclusion to the never ending shopping trip from hell!
Oh well, Virgil’s still in one piece for episode 19 so he must survive and get that shower at some point.
This is another of my favourites though really. The balance of family and danger and normality and duty was just spot on.

Let’s talk about the Sokovia Accords!
Hoo boy! Let’s have a chitchat about the Sokovia Accords, shall we? I’ve seen a number of arguments for and against them, but let’s break them down.
Any enhanced individual who agrees to sign the accords must register with the united nations and provide biometric data such as fingerprint and DNA samples.
LOL. Okay. So, let’s talk about this data bank and how dangerous it is. Let’s talk about who has access to this information and these samples, because this is a clone saga waiting to happen.
At best, it gives the UN the ability to make an army. At worst, it gives the UN the ability to make an army.
Those with secret identities must reveal them to the UN.
Cuz that goes well every time a hero is outed and doesn’t give their enemies license to go after their loved ones.
Those with innate powers must submit to a power analysis which will categorize their threat level and determine potential health risks.
Uhm.
Whatcha gonna do if you feel their threat level is too high, UN? Who gets to decide that? How is it decided?
Those with innate powers must wear a tracking bracelet at all times.
Problem one: Who is tracking them? What if that tracking information lands in the wrong hands and suddenly Hydra is like “WOO! WE GOT LOCATIONS!” and all those people wearing tacking bracelets are suddenly murdered?
Problem two: This stinks of a way to ID them to the public in the same way the Nazis used the Star of David before they started shipping Jews to camps. And no thank you.
Any enhanced individual who signs is prohibited from taking action in any country but their own, unless they are first given clearance by the UN or that country’s government.
Hey! This one makes sense! Communication is great!
Governments are prohibited from deploying enhanced individuals outside of their own national borders unless given the clearance stated above. The same rule also applies to non-government agencies, such as SHIELD, and the Avengers.
Again! Totally fine. Talk to each other before you bust in.
“Yo! We think maybe there’s a thing happening! Government of foreign nation, are you cool with us coming and helping out?”
“Yeah, dude! Haul that sweet ass over here!”
Great!
Any enhanced individual who does not sign will not be permitted to take part in any police, military, or espionage activity or take part in any national or international conflict, even in their own country. They will not be allowed to take on missions run by private institutions such as SHIELD either.
...Eh...I mean...I see what you’re doing here, accords? But a number of things can happen that would be not so awesome surrounding this rule, including enhanced individuals being framed for breaking this rule, and governments ignoring this rule when the shit hits the fan and they need specific people’s help, accords or not.
Also, espionage is espionage for a reason. It’s a great cover.
Any enhanced individuals who break the law (including vigilanteism) or are otherwise deemed to be a threat to the safety of the general public may be detained indefinitely without trial.
Holy shit no.
Again, I ask, who gets to decide whether an enhanced person is TOO POWERFUL?? And no trial? At all? Somebody get the ACLU on the fucking phone! This is some horse shit right here.
If an enhanced person violates the accords, or obstructs the enforcement of the accords they may likewise be arrested and detained without trial.
Oh yeah? For how long? Who decides? They’re just tossed into the raft and forgotten about? Damn. Clint and Scott got fucking LUCKY with their plea deals!
The use of technology to bestow individuals with innate superhuman abilities is strictly regulated, as is the use and distribution of highly advanced tech (Asgardian, Chita’ri).
Oh, regulated. Not banned outright. I see. Cuz Tony.
The creation of self aware artificial intelligence is strictly prohibited.
Uhm.
This is so awkward. Are the Accords retroactive? Cuz...uh...Vision existed when they were created. And uh...also Tony still uses Friday. A lot.
So awkward.
The Avengers will no longer be a private organization and will operate under the UN.
Let me explain why this is bad:
The UN is run by the world’s governments, which makes any Avenger who signs the accords beholden to their whims and at their beck and call no matter how the Avengers themselves might feel about it.
If the team or a member or two disagree with what the UN is up to, the UN may just decide that those members, or the team as a whole, are “too powerful” and throw them in jail with no trial for however long they feel like, because the time frame isn’t spelled out anywhere.
Or, let’s look at the current world political climate:
The United States has an administration that is...fucking terrible, and has pulled out of the UN for the most part. They’re storing innocent people in camps, they’re rolling back civil liberties for women and the LGBTQIA+ community, and they are destroying the environment because they like money more than anything else in the whole world and they wanna help their rich, racist buds.
Since the Avengers are, mostly, American citizens, there’s nothing stopping the US from doing a number things:
1. Taking their toys and going home, amending the accords so the US Avengers are at the beck and call of the US goverment.
2. Disbanding the Avengers altogether.
3. Again, claiming they are too powerful and throwing them in jail when they inevitably turn on the government and start liberating immigrant camps (They do, in fact, have a member who has personal experience in liberating prison and concentration camps, and he’d be the first one on the quinjet for that mission).
So there are literally two regulations in the above list (the only confirmed part of the accords we have as fans) that make any damn sense and don’t violate liberties, or make for some very dangerous situations that would cause some bad, bad things to come about.
TL;DR: The accords are a nightmare of potential “whoops all your DNA got out and now there is an army of clones with the spliced DNA of every single hero we had on file and they know where you are via your cute li’l bracelet so they’re coming after you,” and “LOL we don’t like you right now, so we’re putting you in jail for however long we feel like, bye, bitch!”
Sing me another one.
#MCU#Captain America: Civil War#Anti Sokovia Accords#Fuck's sake someone get the ACLU on the phone#Steve Rogers#Tony Stark#oh my fucking god you guys#Avengers

Non-Sequential [Ch. 19]
Pairing: Pre-Serum Steve Rogers/Steve Rogers x Reader
One night, Steve Rogers met a beautiful dame named Y/N. He hadn’t intended on letting her get away. But fate had other ideas. Y/N appeared and disappeared in his life so hauntingly that Steve started to wonder if she was an angel meant to watch over him.
Word Count: 3,114
Chapter 18
It really didn’t matter that Steve wanted to meet so early. Y/N hadn’t even fallen asleep. It was partly from still recovering from her trauma and partly from her anxiety of meeting up with Steve. She knew it was ridiculous. They had been dating for over a year, known each other since their teenage years.
So, why did Y/N feel like she was going on a first date?
Y/N put on a little makeup, mostly to cover the shadows under her eye. The last thing she needed was to show proof to Steve that she was barely sleeping.
With one final look in the mirror, Y/N sighed. That was as good as it was going to get. A part of her didn’t know why she bothered. Steve had seen her at her best and her worst. Even when she didn’t have a stitch of makeup on or had the flu, he still told her she was beautiful. Even more importantly, he made her feel that way too.
Y/N opened her bedroom door and jumped when she saw that Steve was already waiting on the other side.
“Jesus, Steve!” She gasped and put a hand over her heart. “How long have you been standing out here?”
“I just got here and was about to knock on your door. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” He really did look sorry.
“It’s fine,” she told him. Then she shifted her weight. The awkwardness of the whole thing quickly returned.
“Ready to go?” He asked her.
She nodded.
Steve started leading her through the palace. For someone who hadn’t spent much time in Wakanda, he walked with confidence when it came to directions there.
“Sleep OK?” Steve asked, trying to make conversation. But he knew better than to ask her anything real. She wasn’t a morning person and he knew that.
“Mhmm,” she hummed and added a nod.
Steve knew that was her attempt at lying without actually lying. But he didn’t push it.
Eventually they found their way outside. The sun was just about to come up, making the sky the prettiest shades of pink and lavender.
Y/N was so busy looking at the sky that she didn’t notice there were two palace orderlies holding the reigns of two different horses. It took her a moment to process that these horses were for her and Steve.
“Is that a look of confusion or a look of fear?” Steve asked nervously.
Had he made a mistake? Was this a terrible idea?
But Y/N caught his worried tone and immediately adjusted.
“Neither. I was just surprised. Are we going horseback riding?”
Steve looked nervously between the two horses. He had already grabbed the reigns from the two orderlies and thanked them, sending them on their way.
“Is that OK?”
Y/N finally smiled. It really was like a first date. Steve was nervous as hell, as if he didn’t already know her inside and out. “Yes, Steve, it’s OK.” She finally laughed.
Then she grabbed the reigns of one of the horses and immediately started petting it.
“I just didn’t know you knew how to ride horses,” Y/N teased without stopping her petting or looking away from animal.
Steve had the audacity to blush at that. “During the war, the Howlies and I got stuck behind enemy lines. They couldn’t pull us out, so we just started walking. Halfway through the trek, we came upon a dozen horses. You learn how to ride real quick when it’s life or death.”
Y/N finally looked up at him with a sheepish grin. “No matter how many times it happens, I’m always surprised by how the man who’s lived so many different lives also seems to be good at everything.”
Steve blushed and bowed his head. “I’m not good at everything,” he muttered under his breath.
“Only people that are good at everything say that,” she shot back with a smile.
Steve would take Y/N’s teasing of her ignoring him any day. Hell, he’d sign up for a roast on national television, hosted and starring her, if it meant getting back on her good side.
Now he saw her eyeing the saddle and looked a little unsure of herself.
“You know how to mount?” He asked carefully.
Then it was her turn to look embarrassed. “I’ve always had a little stool when I do this…”
Steve gave her a small reassuring smile, making sure she understood that it was nothing to be embarrassed by.
“Here. Let me help you,” he offered before walking over.
Any other person would cup their hands together and tell her to step in as they lifted. But not Steve. He told her to put her foot in the stirrup and then, with his hands on her waist, he lifted her high enough that she could swing her other leg over the saddle.
Every once in awhile, Y/N forgot how strong Steve really was. Then she was reminded at times like these and it usually left her all hot and bothered.
Steve kept a hand on her thigh longer than necessary. But in his mind, he was just making sure she was seated safe and sound.
Once he was convinced that she was okay, he moved to his own horse. And, of course, he mounted like he had been born to ride horses. Y/N almost rolled her eyes at the sight.
“You good?” Steve asked, which was just his way of asking if she knew how to ride without sounding patronizing.
“Yeah, I’m just glad you didn’t bring the rhinos to ride.” She replied before digging her heels slightly and urging the horse into a walk.
“Wait, what?”
“Exactly.” Then Y/N looked back at his face and couldn’t help but giggle.
Steve smirked at the sound. Her smiles and laughter were few and far between. He’d take any that he could get, even if that meant that they came from mocking him.
They eased the horses into a slow walk. Steve knew what trails they should follow and Y/N let him lead the way. They kept the conversation light. Steve didn’t dare ask how she was recovering in Wakanda. Bucky had already enlightened him on the turmoil of Y/N’s life since he had abandoned her.
Y/N had to offer up that information.
But Steve did tell her where he had been, what he had been doing. He answered all of her questions and made sure to be as specific as possible. It was sensitive information – being on the run from basically every government and all. But there was no one he trusted more than her.
Y/N asked how everyone was doing. She had grown so close to them through her relationship with Steve. They were her friends and her family.
Steve explained that Clint and Scott had made a deal with the government so they could return to their families. Y/N frowned when she realized the “deal” was staying under house arrest.
“We’re doing OK, Y/N.” Steve finally added softly after he saw how she was getting more and more distressed about the team.
“I saw Tony…before I left,” she suddenly told him. “Apparently he made quite the scene in London, trying to bring me back to the medical wing of the Compound.”
With the mentioning of Tony, Steve’s jaw clenched and he narrowed his gaze to the horizon in the distance.
“I’m not sure he’ll ever forgive me,” Steve muttered under his breath.
Y/N’s heart broke at such a statement. She was a witness to the two men’s friendship. Yes, they bickered. Yes, they argued. Yes, they had a different way of seeing justice, and even right and wrong. But they loved each other. They were practically brothers.
“Do you know why he dragged me back to the Avengers’ Compound?” She asked him gently.
But he just looked at her, waiting for the answer.
“Because he wanted me to have the best care. And he did that because he knows how much I mean to you.” She sighed. “It doesn’t matter what’s happened between the two of you, because he proved that he would still do anything for the people you love, Steve.”
His face softened at the concept. But then he gave her a little side smirk. “You’re missing a big piece though…”
Her eyebrow quirked. “What?”
“He doesn’t care about you just because I love you, Y/N. You’re family to him too. Has nothing to do with me. I’m just the one that introduced the two of you.”
Y/N smiled at that. But then a thought was nagging in the back of her head. “He’s basically there all alone. Rhodey is constantly traveling for his job. And from what you’ve said, Vision is just constantly looking for his next chance to see Wanda. I don’t know if him and Pepper ever worked things out.”
“That’s what I was worried about,” Steve sighed.
A moment of silence passed between them.
“What are we going to do, Steve?”
He bowed his head, but said nothing. He wasn’t going to lie, because he knew that he had no idea what they could do next.
“Are you going to be on the run for the rest of our lives? Are we just going to live in Wakanda? Are you really OK with being labeled a criminal from now on?”
Steve looked into her eyes with the most heartfelt and apologetic gaze. “I don’t know, Y/N. But I promise I’m figuring it out.”
Y/N nodded and glanced down, petting her horse’s neck. “Guess it doesn’t really matter though, does it?”
He narrowed his gaze. “What do you mean?”
She looked back at him again. “As long as we’re together, nothing else really matters. We’ll have each other.”
Steve swore his heart stopped at her words. He stared into her eyes, making sure she knew that he understood and, even more importantly, agreed.
Eventually, he had to tear his eyes away from her. Then he pulled his horse to a stop. Y/N followed.
“This is why I made you get up so early,” Steve pointed ahead of them.
They had stopped their horses at the edge of a hill, allowing them to clearly see a ravine below with all its hills and valleys. But what Steve pointed to was the rising sun.
“I’ve heard Shuri and T’Challa talk about the sunsets here… but they’ve never mentioned the sunrises,” Y/N said in awe as she took in the beautiful colors.
Steve nodded silently.
After a few minutes, Y/N finally managed to tear her eyes away from the scene. Steve was already waiting for her gaze.
“Thank you…for doing all this,” she told him softly.
He just gave a modest grin and then dismounted.
Steve was no fool. He knew he had to do more than just horseback riding at sunrise to win her back.
He reached for something that was on the other side of his saddle.
“Come on. I brought reinforcements.” Then he held up what looked to be a large thermos and a bag.
“What’s that?” Y/N asked.
“Coffee and some pastries – I think they’re called vitumbua?”
Steve was already at her side. He didn’t offer his help when she dismounted, but he stayed close by just in case.
Apparently Steve had thought of everything, because he spread out a blanket for them to sit on as well.
They laid down, drinking coffee and eating.
Y/N couldn’t remember the last time she let this relaxed feeling wash over her. It seemed Steve was the only one to help with it.
They didn’t force conversation, because they didn’t need to. When either of them had something to say, they said it. But they weren’t afraid of comfortable silences.
“You should’ve brought your sketchbook,” Y/N told him, leaning her head on his shoulder.
Steve hummed in agreement. “Next time,” he promised with a quick, whisper of a kiss to her forehead.
“I’ll bring my camera,” Y/N added with a dreamy smirk.
“There was this small village we were hiding out in a few months back. It was in the countryside of France, right by the border of Switzerland and Italy. The entire time I was there, I just kept thinking about how much you would’ve loved it. You’d be taking so many pictures that I wouldn’t even be able to get a glimpse of your face – your camera would be blocking you from me the whole time.”
Y/N took in a deep breath, admitting to herself that it sounded like a lovely concept.
She turned to him. “Maybe that’s what we should do.”
“What?”
“Find someplace beautiful. Small population. Somewhere no one will recognize you. No internet connection. Minimum connection to the outside world.”
“Easier said than done,” Steve pointed out.
Her shoulders slumped, realizing he knew better than she did.
After a couple of hours, they figured it was time to get back to the palace.
But they took the long way home, choosing a different route so they could see even more scenery of the Wakandan countryside.
Steve didn’t realize how close to the border they had come. Not too far away, were the first people, besides farmers in the distance, that they had seen during their ride.
But they must’ve seen the couple first, for they were already riding in their direction.
Steve squinted and shielded his eyes from the sun, his super-soldier sight being able to see clearer than Y/N’s.
“You weren’t kidding about those rhinos, were you?” He thought aloud.
30 seconds later, they were surrounded by half a dozen men. Two of them quickly dismounted from the rhinos while the other four remained seated in their saddles. However, all of them eyed Steve and Y/N with weary glares.
One of them spoke in Wakanda’s native tongue, even though they were clearly dressed like outsiders. Wakanda may have officially just opened its borders to the world, but the people of Wakanda still did not trust foreigners.
Steve dismounted from his horse. However, he was put on edge when Y/N did the same.
“What brings you to the border?” The same man asked the same question, now in English. His accent was still thick.
“We’re friends of King T’Challa. I’m sorry… have we offended you in some way?” Steve asked when he saw the men’s hands hovering over the spears or knives buckled to their waists.
“King T’Challa?” The man spat as if it was a terrible lie. Then he turned around and started talking to his men, anger and irritation clear in his tone.
Steve moved closer to Y/N, stepping forward so he could easily move to shield her if need be.
“Steve, this is the Border Tribe,” she muttered quietly.
“Yeah?” He obviously didn’t fully understand what that meant.
“They were the group behind the civil war. They suffered a great deal when Kilmonger tried to take the throne from T’Challa. Now is not the time for them to welcome outsiders,” Y/N warned him.
The leader turned around again and got in Steve’s face. “Who did you steal these horses from?”
Steve held up his hands, trying his best to keep the peace. “They belong to King T’Challa. I told you, we are friends of the King. We mean no harm. We were only going for a ride – just passing through.”
Suddenly one of the men had grabbed both of the horses’ reigns and pulled them roughly away from Steve and Y/N.
Next thing they knew, one of them was grabbing Y/N.
Her entire body went hot. She could hear her own heartbeat pulsating in her ears, making it impossible to hear anything else around her. Her entire body started trembling. She couldn’t breathe. There was suddenly a tightness in her chest, like 500 pounds was pressing on it.
Y/N was having a panic attack.
Everyone had been so careful about invading her space and touching her. But the trauma of Hydra was still far too fresh.
She was getting flashbacks of being stuck back in time, getting tortured every day.
The panic attack could’ve lasted seconds or an hour. She couldn’t tell.
All Y/N knew was that when she came to, Steve was clutching her face and telling her over and over again that she was OK.
Y/N blinked and looked around. All of the men had been knocked off their feet, clutching various injuries and looking at Steve with utter fear.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” Steve muttered to Y/N as he pulled her to his chest and wrapped his arms around her protectively.
Then there were sounds of someone running to approach them. Y/N felt Steve’s entire body tense and shifted so he was blocking their view of Y/N. He was already prepared to defend once again.
But it was one of the Royal Guards. He must’ve been stationed in the village after the civil war to assure there were no more rebellions conjured up.
“Captain Rogers, I apologize. Had I known they had come to address you, I would’ve made sure they knew who you were,” he told him with the bow of his head.
Steve relaxed, but kept Y/N in his arms, rubbing soothing circles on her back and arm.
“Please, can you contact someone to bring us back? She can’t ride.”
The guard immediately nodded his head and took a few steps away to contact someone with his kimoyo beads.
But Y/N had not stopped shaking. Not even Steve’s body warmth could stop it. He quickly grabbed the blanket from his saddle and wrapped it around her.
“You’re OK. I got you,” he murmured to her. “Just keep taking deep breaths.”
It was strange to think the man who tried to comfort her so gently now was the same man who could’ve easily killed those six men in seconds.
But this wasn’t about Steve’s fierce protectiveness of Y/N.
This was the first time Steve had actually witnessed Y/N’s trauma for himself. All it took was a few men to invade her space, to touch her, and her mind and body were thrown back to place of torture and fear.
“I-I’m OK,” Y/N tried to lie through her trembling.
Steve clenched his jaw, not having any intention of addressing that it was obvious how not okay she was. At least…not yet.

Chapter 20
A/N: I know this took me awhile. Honestly, things have no been great. This summer has just been...pretty terrible TBH. So writing and finishing this series has not been easy. That’s not be looking for attention or help, just wanted to be real about why these updates are less frequent than my other series.
