After three seasons, the last episode of Star Trek (TOS) aired on June 3, 1969. The series ran for 80 episodes. The episode was originally meant to air on March 28, but was pushed back due to coverage of the death of Dwight D Eisenhower. In the episode, Captain Kirk's (William Shatner) ex-lover Doctor Janice Lester (Sandra Smith) not only took over control of the USS Enterprise but took over his body as well. The events took place in the year 2269. In 2016, fans of the show voted it the 4th worst episode of the entire franchise. ("Turnabout Intruder", Star Trek TOS, TV, Event)

Jaja's African Hair Braiding
Written by Jocelyn Bioh
Dir. Whitney White
Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, 2023
This dazzling world premiere welcomes you into Jaja’s bustling hair braiding shop in Harlem where every day, a lively and eclectic group of West African immigrant hair braiders are creating masterpieces on the heads of neighborhood women. During one sweltering summer day, love will blossom, dreams will flourish and secrets will be revealed. The uncertainty of their circumstances simmers below the surface of their lives and when it boils over, it forces this tight-knit community to confront what it means to be an outsider on the edge of the place they call home.

Andrew Scott was the winner of The Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Actor, for his amazing one man performance in Simon Stephens' Anton Chekhov adaptation, Vanya.
The award was presented and accepted on Andrew's behalf by Jenna Coleman, as he was unable to attend due to a conflict with promotional activities for his upcoming film All of Us Strangers.

Transcript of Andrew Scott's acceptance speech, read by Jenna Coleman (edited slightly)
Hello everybody,
I'm really gutted that I can't be there this evening. I will never forget the experience of creating this show with these magical people.
I would like to thank Simon Stephens for his generosity, and his hilarious and devastating adaptation, and Rosanna Vize for for her extraordinary wisdom and her impeccable eye for design.
In truth I missed the company atmosphere, so I would really like to thank the stage management and crew for being so fun and patient with a saddo, lonely actor.
This was a big risk for our producers and I would like to thank Emily Vaughan-Barratt, Benjamin Lowy and all my friends at Wessex Grove for being so supportive and collaborative and inventive.
Playing these extraordinary parts was exhilarating and moving and exhausting and there is no doubt in my mind I couldn't have done it without the support and friendship and sheer kindness of our director Sam Yates. He came to the show every night and he was just a constant source of good energy, reassurance and care.
Lastly, I'd like to thank the audience who came to see the show. I'm so grateful that I get to do what I do and this experience has provided me with memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life!
So thank you Evening Standard for this wonderful honor, I am truly thrilled! Have a great celebration! Long live London theatre and theatre everywhere!
- Andrew Scott
