"Over there!" Harry yelled over the cacophonous sound of the rain hitting cars and pavement, waving towards a small awning over the entrance to a closed café. He took off towards cover, half dragging Draco along with him as they picked their way over cobblestones and cracked sidewalks.

I was totally entranced by this fic, and have the others in the series lined up to read as well!

The rain tracks down his cheeks like tears, but his expression is one of pure, unadulterated happiness. A beautiful, messy boy full of contradictions and the fiercest desire to fight, fight, fight.

Harry screams into the deafening roar of the rain. How dare the Minister and his DMLE lapdog try and keep Harry penned in and Draco barricaded out. How dare they use Draco like this; hurt him like this. How bloody dare they make Draco believe this was his only option, that he is sacrificing himself and the astounding, perfect world he’s built for the greater good.

A Very Pairy Christmas - 31 Podfics for December

A couple of months ago, I had the crazy idea to do a 25 days of Christmas type thing for podfics. I read a lot of Drarry and other ETL pairings, so I thought it might be nice to mix it up a little. Of course, I then went down a rabbit hole, spent way too much time agonizing over the fics to choose, recording, editing, cringing over my singing of Christmas carols, re-recording, re-editing, worrying that I wasn't being inclusive of other holidays, coming up with and discarding a number of punny names, and then giving up and just reveling in the holiday vibes.

So starting on Friday. December 1st, I'll have a new podfic every day, each with a different HP pairing (or in a couple of cases, a trio). Each week will have a different theme (because I like to overthink and over-organize everything that isn't my real life).

"She said she was seeing someone else. She was… seeing a girl. Sarah Beecroft. Albus… I think Rose might be gay!" Scorpius said.

"Oh?" Albus said and grinned wickedly.

"Wait! You know! And here I was thinking I was just a big geek who couldn't measure up to someone as cool as Rose Granger-Weasley and you're sitting there not the least bit surprised that your cousin, who you know I fancy, is gay," Scorpius said then laughed and scooted to the end of the bed, sitting next to Albus.

"Relax, mate. I only found out this afternoon. Not like I could bust into your date and shout 'she's gay, you can both go home!', now could I?" Albus said, not admitting that he loved that idea, actually.

Scorpius turned and smiled at Albus, placing hands on his shoulders then suddenly pushed him back against the bed. Albus felt his body flush with excitement.

"You absolute shit!" Scorpius said, pressing his hands down on Albus's shoulders and grinning wide.

Albus was forced to look up into Scorpius's perfect face. He liked the angles of it, the sharpness of his nose and jawline. The curious shape of his pale, pink lips.

Best Mates (rated G, 3400 words) - When Albus confesses his feelings for him, at first Scorpius isn't sure whether he loves Albus or LOVES Albus. 

Hogsmeade Outing (G, 2700) - On their first date in Hogsmeade, Scorpius decides he doesn't want his relationship with Albus to have to be a secret.

Protego Club (G, 4600) - Albus and Scorpius are invited to join the Hogwarts LGBT club. They will make new friends, whether Albus likes it or not.

Albus Day (T, 7900) - It's Albus's 16th birthday, and Scorpius has plans for him. Birthday presents, surprise parties, bad poetry, and dorks in love.

No Distractions (E, 8200) - While studying for OWLs, Albus and Scorpius turn kissing from a distraction into an incentive. But once their exams are finished, they want no distractions from each other.

The Talk (M, 5000) - After coming out to his parents about his relationship with Scorpius, Albus is not prepared for an all-new gay version of the "birds and the bees" conversation with his father, or the secret Harry shares with him.

Missing Pieces (T, 6900) - When Scorpius finally gathers the courage to come out to his father, at first Draco doesn't take it very well. 

Merlin’s Whiskers (G, 2100) - Scorpius decides to get himself a 17th birthday present. Albus isn't sure about it at first.

Don’t listen while driving: a rec

There have been only two times in my life wherein listening to audio fiction in the car impaired my ability to drive.

The first was when I listened to the end of The Martian and found myself ignoring traffic in order to bang on my steering wheel and shout “come on come come on COME ON!”

The second was yesterday, when I finished listening to Raitala’s podfic of Frayach’s The Price We Pay for Wings and found myself leaking from the eyeballs so much that my vision got blurry.

I realize that I’m years late to this fic, and I can’t deny that my reaction may be partially due to timing–a story about the personal costs of fascism and war cuts pretty close to the bone right now. But it was a Significant Emotional Experience, and so I am sharing it here. 

(Thanks to @dictacontrion for nudging me towards this podfic, 10/10 would be devastated by again.)
