It’s been 19 thrilling days, but the OFMD Craft Fair is officially CLOSED!
What started off as a simple idea (“what if we did something crafty to raise money for trans kids?”) blossomed into something greater than any of our wildest expectations.
For those who like numbers, here are some fun ones for you:
1: the number of auctions we planned to hold
2: the number of flash auctions we ended up holding in addition to that
156: the number of people who donated crafts
214: the number of listings at the start of the fair
503: the number of listings at the end
842: the number of people who placed bids or made donations
$5,000: our original fundraising goal
$95,021: the amount we ultimately through auctions alone, all to benefit the Campaign for Southern Equality’s Trans Youth Emergency Project
At least $105,000: the amount we’ve raised so far through our donation form
Those numbers are all phenomenal, mind-blowing, even. But this auction’s success is about more than just numbers. It’s about a group of people who saw an opportunity to help and grabbed it. It’s about people stepping in to help any way they could. It’s about people sharing the excitement, boosting each other up, spreading the word of the event so that more and more people could join in.
It’s about people coming together as a collective, because while individually we may be capable of small change, together, we can do something truly incredible.
Thank you to every single person who was a part of the craft fair, whether it was through crafting, bidding, or spreading the hype. None of this would have been possible without you.
So… now what? The craft fair team is in fulfillment mode, working to make sure everyone is paid up and receives their items. We very much appreciate your patience through this process; as a reminder, it’s still just six of us, and we promise we’re working as fast as we can!
Additional donations We know some fans are keeping the generosity going and offering commissions to raise even more money, to which we say, FAB! You can continue to make donations through this link: https://bit.ly/OFMDcraft We will get a final count of the amount we raised through additional donations next week, but the form will stay open for now.
More crafts, please! While there will NOT be another craft fair, we’re gathering information from our crafters so you know where to go to continue to shop their wares or seek them out for commissions. More to come!
Questions? As always, reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions along the way.
Thanks again, crew. Our family, our fight!

Thank you all for making the OFMD Craft Fair such a huge success!!!! We’ve raised $89,878 for the Campaign for Southern Equality’s Emergency Trans Youth Emergency Project, just through the auction! And folks keep donating, and offering commissions, and sharing, and hyping. INCREDIBLE.
Right now the organizing team is hard at work behind the scenes working on fulfillment!! While we’re doing that, we wanted to share some updates/next steps for you:
Payment: We know some people struggled to make their donations through CSE’s website. We have connected with them and confirmed it was due to the tremendously high volume of donations coming in, and it should be fixed now!! We are asking that you make your donations by Friday, March 7 so we can confirm our final donation amount and get rolling with fulfillment. If you have trouble, email us a screenshot!!
Confirmation Message: Some people reported not receiving confirmation of their donation. Please note that this message will not come from the CSE, but from the Executive Director, Jasmine. The subject line will be Thank You for Supporting Trans Youth. If you have Gmail, it will wind up in your Promotions tab.
Fulfillment: If you’re a crafter fulfilling your own shipping, hang tight—we’re still collecting emails and confirming donations, so we should be sending out your addresses soon! If you’re mailing to a hub (Canada, UK, or AoNZ), you should have that address—if not, email us! Any going to hubs we’d love to have mailed ASAP because they’ve still got a long journey ahead of them!
Commissions: We are working to connect those who offered commissions in the auction with their winners. You should get an email in the next day or two! If you offered a commission, please make contact with your winner by Monday, March 10. If you run into any issues, please let us know!
But wait… there’s more?! No, there will not be another flash auction. BUT we are SO close to $100K, we think we may be able to break that. If you are willing to offer sketches, etc. to raise some additional funds to be donated toward our final tally, we would very much support that (we just can't be in charge of it!). And if you’d like to just make another donation, or share the link with someone else who would like to support, you can do that here!
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at [email protected]. THANK YOU AGAIN for coming along for this ride!!! We’re making a real difference for about 200 actual human kids, and that’s SPECTACULAR. WELL DONE, OFMD FANDOM (and friends)

I've said this before, but something I love about OFMD is that Ed and Stede's kisses carry both narrative and character weight, and they are deliberately choreographed for that. The first kiss is awkward and uncertain and sweet; they don't know what to do with their hands, they're sort of half turned each other, very tentative, but there's this sense of relief underneath it. It's not making out, at all; it's more meaningful in terms of their characters and their relationship's progression.
And each kiss moves them forward. It shows their desire for each other, their movement towards one another, the places where they're on the same page and where they're not. Those kisses are significant to them and to the audience, far more so than if they were all the same or if they were all deep and intense and passionate.
The way Ed and Stede touch each other, beyond kissing, is important and their kisses are symptomatic of other emotional elements, including developing intimacy.
And I'm gonna say that I find it a lot more meaningful and moving than shows or films where the leads just make out with tongue at intervals. That's just...boring.

“And I know we’re not through. I can feel it in my soul. A love like ours can’t disappear in an instant. We’re joined to one another. Intertwined. We wrote our names on each other in permanent ink.” 🏴☠️
