So... I decided to do more with my selfsona. I want to have an "official" mascot, if you will, for my blog and so... I've done bits here and there with the few pics I've posted previously, but I decided to refine them. Here, we have multiple attire for myself, or rather, for Bean!!

First of is childhood. Small, tiny girl always dressed in some shade of green with a pink accent color. Hair is medium length.

Second is sailor fuku, or school attire. It's a heavy reference to the standard trope of an anime girl in her school uniform, especially in shows such as Sailor Moon, Urusei Yatsura, etc. Hair is now shoulder length.

For the rest of the outfits in the lineup, the hair is more like Kasane Teto's. Every magical girl (with the exception of Sailor Moon unless you include the live-action PGSM) have their hair altered when they transform, be it in color or in the way it is styled. I went with this, as well, mostly because I honestly couldn't choose between my hair as it usually is (short, down, no styling) or going with a more anime style. Her twindrills are tied back with little hairties that have those plastic balls on them like you'd see in the mid-2000s.

Next is the main, official mahou shojou attire. Magical girl time. This attire features quad roller skates (the wheels are retractable so the shoe part can actually double as regular booties) and a pastel color scheme. I referenced both a lot of modern and classic mahou shojou characters to get the look I wanted. In the end, it sort of looks like a mashup of who different Precure outfits, but I really like it.

Now onto the Mew Mew outfit. For this attire, Bean goes by Mew Sushi and her DNA is fused with a mouse. She has a pair of overall shorts and a sleeveless crop top. Her "garters" are on her upper arms, and she has loose legwarmers.

Ahh now we make it to Sailor Moon time. Out of all magical girl media, Sailor Moon is my classic go-to. I couldn't NOT do a sailor senshi form. She sport an overall eternal form look, but her bow is akin to Usagi's super form, including the fact it's actually semi-transparent.

Lastly, like most magical girls (Usagi, Madoka, etc.) we finish off on the royal or princess form. For this one, Bean would be more akin to Princess Serenity. Its a regal form to obtain later in life.

Okay, so, this "reboot" you're reading was originally going to be more of a faithful adaptation until I wrote the rough draft for this chapter.

Here, the characters suddenly started acting on their own, doing stuff I didn't expect them to do. Wow! I really wanted to see what happened next! So I had to keep writing to find out! (I hope I didn't just raise your expectations too high!)

The following pages are loosely based on the events of chapter 6 of Marvelous Land of Oz with a bit of chapter 8 and is named after chapter 4, "Tip Makes an Experiment in Magic."

This cover is, of course, a blatantly self-indulgent nod to high school romance manga tropes because Yellow Brick Ramble is nothing if not blatantly self-indulgent.

Another of the drawings I started during my most recent Picarto stream. The theme that evening was back-to-school. Both the MLP fandom and Hasbro through the IDW comic series have speculated and explored the idea of Shining Armor and Princess Cadence being high school sweethearts. So I decided to draw them dressed in anime-style school uniforms.

A crop sweater, a skirt worn higher on the waist to shorten it's length and making legs appear longer, spiced with 'Nii HAi' socks.

I wish school uniforms in our area weren't so boring. If they were better, something in my head might have clicked 😜, and I would have tried wearing them back then in school.

But even now, I won't mind stepping out in these, if I am ever in Harajuku

ben's mom & school uniforms

so something that's popping up in my expensive baby poll is ben's mother & her school uniform. and it got me thinking... is there some meaning behind the uniform to be unlocked?

to cut things short. im not convinced that the uniform is accurate anyways??

i really need someone with more knowledge on south korea to weigh in here bc i'm totally out of my depth. so pls correct me if im wrong!

ben's mom appears to be wearing a sailor fuku

only, this seems to be a japanese uniform, not a korean one. (or so says wikipedia).

the standard korean uniform seems to be closer to what westerners would understand as a school uniform, with white shirts, vests/blazers & ties.

so, im confused. is ben's mom's uniform not accurate or am i overthinking things?

Saturday 9/2/23 starting at 5:30pm Pacific I'll be streaming on Picarto. Here in the States it will Labor Day Weekend. When I was growing up the weekend marked the end of my summer vacation and the start of the school year.

Yes nowadays many school districts begin classes before the Labor Day weekend, but from Elementary School until my first years in college the weekend heralded my return to the classroom.
