I just spent way too much time talking at the Child about where she can find information for research projects. She is in middle school, she just needs five articles on food deserts for an English assignment that she’s fallen behind in. They don’t have to be scholarly, they just have to be reliable enough for a middle school English paper that is to be written tomorrow in class. Did I mention that the Child had fallen behind in English? Because she has fallen behind in English. But I shall make sure she gets that free day on Friday, even if I’d rather read my mystery novels and my comics and play my games in peace.
#i was helping with said homework#it was letting her use my phone for research#i also taught her a way i prevented myself from gett overwhelmed with homework at college#after the unsolicited advice banshee came over to talk about a game she played with friends#the advice was basically bother your local college student for access to their school’s library and google scholar#I imagine actual researchers have a better way of getting information#but i’m a lowly college dropout who’s been applying to schools so i can go back and finish my degree#i am taking my very much needed gap year that i wish I hadn’t let my mom talk me out of#after a mental breakdown my last semester

It's so striking cuz like. we have UA celebrating in their large pretty campus that's administered by extremely influential, well-connected, world-famous Nedzu who's also a billionaire, and these kids are speaking of a bright future where there is humor because they believe it in—
(and there's Aoyama too, who was Villain/Villain-associated, and now has to leave UA, but it's his choice, and he's still going to be a Hero, he can start over)
—and ten pages later, seemingly another world away but it's in the same country, is someone in visible pain and misery, walking out of a crumbling building into a ruined street, barefoot and utterly alone. Does this person have a bright future they believe in?
And like, obviously this person can... if the Heroes are there to find them and help. If the Heroes can show up and bless them with a helping hand. And I know that's a good thing, but it just feels so cruel, that they can only receive their bright future if a Hero is there. Specifically, a student from this elite national school.
That's saving, yes, I guess, but also not really. That's fucked up.
The students acknowledge this too - there's chaos out there, and now it's their job to help rebuild and main public order. But it's like they're separate from all that. They go out to help. They travel to go prevent the deterioration. They speak of aftermaths and 'confusion' via textbooks. Again, I know that's not quite the intention, probably, and they're just kids and learning and they're doing their best, and they shouldn't be starving in the streets either or living through deterioration, and some of them know first-hand the sufferings too, before, but it feels like they aren't part of the chaos. They're there to contain the chaos. They're above the chaos, and they descend down to help.
Heroes and Villains have always had this insane disparity, whether it's the League being a bunch of middle school dropouts and runaways, or AFO being a trash river rat orphan baby while All Might came from a lovingly warm home, even if he later loses it.
The Heroes are good guys, the Heroes are good people, they're kind and they truly want to help. And they will help, if they know. But knowing doesn't feel like it's good enough.
Anyway. I hope this person gets saved. I wished they didn't need saving in the first place.

Graduation (WIP)
Says I won't ever dip again. *Dips again*
But I'm back!!!
Here's some updates on me if you're interested:
I've actually been pretty productive and not (just) bed rotting this whole time! Yay me!
I've been drawing, not as much as I personally want but still, and I've changed and improved my art style! (I'm also working on some references for my aus, and my personal TMNT iterations too, hopefully you guys will see them before January)
And in case the drawing wasn't a hint, I'm graduating highschool! By which I mean I'm getting my GED. (Beauty school dropout was written for me specifically you guys, trust.)
I've already passed two tests and scored pretty high! When I actually graduate I'll finish the drawing as a small goal for myself.
Rise April is the only April we see graduating from highschool to college which is why I drew her. I doubt I'm going to college anytime soon though, but I didn't think I'd graduate HS, so who knows.
I want to post here again, I love this blog and I really do hate that my mental health and autism prevents me from posting here (keeps me from posting anywhere at all tbh). I guess seasonal depression (or depression² for me) hit me early or something and my anxiety of not having a "good excuse" for why I left and if I didn't make something good then I shouldn't come back, kept me from this blog for so long.
I love feedback from you guys, and even if there wasn't any I still love creating and posting here.
No longer gonna promise to never dip again because clearly my passion and stability is not guaranteed (thank you depression, and executive dysfunction, and posting anxiety, and perfectionism, and—)
But unless I get locked out of my account or Tumblr disappears or (pizza supreme forbid) I permanently lose interest in the turtles, I'm gonna keep coming back.
Sorry If this is rambly and nonsensical there's a reason I'm a fan artist and not a fanfic writer (yet 👀)
Still dealing with pretest and the GED testing so my next post will probably be later this week or next week, till then bye!
#blog update#rottmnt#tmnt#my post#rise april#my art#rise of the tmnt#rise april o'neil#art wip#digital art#paint tool sai#tmnt fanart#vent? ish?#kinda just rambling about what's been going on with me#which includes my mental health didn't going deep into it tho so idk

usahockey: In honor of our men and women making history by both winning gold at the World Championships this past weekend, we highlight two players of the tournament, goaltender Y/N Y/LN, and center Alex Turcotte. The two of them both attended the University of Wisconsin and played for their respective hockey teams.
Y/N Y/LN spent four years with the Wisconsin Badgers and helped lead the women’s team to 3 consecutive B1G 10 Championship Titles (2023, 2024, and 2025), and 3 consecutive NCAA Championship Titles (2023, 2024, and 2025).
In the tournament, Y/LN had a .937 save percentage, and a 1.42 GAA, which propelled the U.S to a gold medal and a world title.
Alex Turcotte only spent one year with the Wisconsin Badgers and had 9 goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 29 games played.
Turcotte turned pro in 2020, and unfortunately dealt with a few setbacks with illness and injury before having a breakout year in the 2023-2024 NHL season. He is now a core member of the LA Kings alongside roommates, Francesco Pinelli, Quinton Byfield, Jordan Spence, and Brandt Clarke, all of whom also participated in the World Championships and won the Bronze medal for Team Canada.
Now comes the debate we all have been waiting for:
Who did it better? Y/N Y/LN or Alex Turcotte? Let us know down below.

Is there a way to push states to have free birth control programs? The states that implement it have fewer abortions as well as maternal mortality rates, which on paper should please everyone.
What a fabulous idea. If the goal is fewer abortions and decreased health risks for pregnant people, it sure seems like increased access to birth control is a clear way to make that happen.
Actually, Colorado did that and it worked GREAT. By increasing access to long acting contraception (shots, implants, IUDs) unplanned pregnancies fell, abortion rates fell, and other only slightly less obvious things like high school dropout rates decreased. It made a huge difference.
The teen birth rate was nearly cut in half.
The teen abortion rate was nearly cut in half.
Births to women without a high school education fell 38 percent.
Second and higher-order births to teens were cut by 57 percent.
The birth rate among young women ages 20-24 was cut by 20 percent.
Rapid repeat births declined by 12 percent among all women.
The average age of first birth increased by 1.2 years among all women.
Costs avoided: $66.1-$69.6 million.
A FABULOUS result, right? Let's all do it!!!
Again, contraception access is wonderful for young girls, women, and people with uteruses.
But that assumes that "everyone's" shared goal is improving maternal health and reducing abortion.
It is not.
Conservatives do not like birth control. Even though most of their wives and sisters and daughters and conservative women themselves use it at some point in their lives. And many of them get abortions. Fucking hypocrites.
Birth control facilitates autonomy for people who can become pregnant. It allows people with uteruses to have sex for without procreation, which is obviously not acceptable if sex is only something men are supposed to like. It removes the risk of the "punishment" of pregnancy. The pill literally liberated women, see
Some religions (run by men) see birth control as thwarting God's plan because only God should get to decide if a person should get pregnant.
Some religions and some people believe, contrary to actual science, that all hormonal birth control is equivalent to abortion, and preventing a fertilized egg from implanting in a uterus after sex is the same as a first trimester abortion or a second trimester abortion.
These groups also force cuts to medically accurate health education in schools. They do not want girls to know how their bodies work and how they can avoid pregnancy. Because the punishment for the sin of having sex is pregnancy.
Which is of course why they don't actually care about the child once it's born by providing medical care, child care, education, etc. Nope, the new mother has little governmental support and is shamed for needing support, even though the system was stacked in favor of her getting pregnant anyway. The child is her punishment and who the fuck cares about the child?
Women's liberation (and that of people with uteruses) is not a goal for these groups - it is a problem. People who control their own bodies control their own lives - to get an education, to have a career, to leave a bad relationship without a tiny human connecting you to your ex for the rest of your life even if you do manage to physically leave. Birth control helps keep women out of marriage and helps facilitate divorce.
The patriarchy hates birth control. Birth control is highly counterproductive to the patriarchy.
Is there a way to push states to have free birth control programs? HELL YES THERE IS.
VOTING.
Voting is how. Vote these anti-choice, science-denying, misogynistic GOP bigots out of fucking office at the local, state, and federal levels.
And
COLLECTING YOUR PEOPLE
especially if you're male, and very especially if you're white and male. Birth control access has long been painted as a women's issue, in part because some men want to have control over women, and in part because some (many) men see birth control as exclusively a woman's problem, just like pregnancy.
It's everyone's problem. It's a human rights problem. Everyone should get to choose what to do with their bodies and the fact that some person was born with a penis shouldn't mean that they don't care about the equal rights of a person with a uterus. Because no child should be born to a parent who doesn't want to have a child, whether they're too young or in an abusive relationship or they just don't fucking want to. You can't force people to donate their organs, even after they're dead, but we allow forced pregnancy - like, what the fuck is that except misogyny?!?!
It's also an economic problem, though I wish "you should care about other people" was enough for everyone. Talk about why it's good for taxpayers, why it's good for the economy to have fewer unplanned pregnancies, fewer children needing social supports, and more educated women in the work force. Talk about the cycle of poverty and the prison pipeline.
Collect your people by talking openly about birth control, why it's important. And that we need to vocally support it, and vote like it. And then show up and vote.
So. That's why and that's how.
#artielu answers an ask#birth control#bodily autonomy#misogyny and patriarchy#human rights#elections have consequences so here we fucking are

note 2: I WRITE ON MY PHONE SINCE I DONT HAVE AN ACCESS TO A COMPUTER SO IDK HOW IT APPEARS ON OTHER DEVICES
Also idk what courting means soo I had a little hard time with that part so I’m gonna try to to replace with with pda (public display affection)
OKOK ENOUGH OF ME YAPPING
Red=kurro
Blue=bokuto
Purple=you
.

.
.
*beep*
*beep*
*beep*
-the sound of ur early alarm goes off-
-you groan annoyingly and turn it off-
You think to urself
(“I should’ve went to bed earlier”)
You get out of bed and get ready for the day
.
.
(Timeskip)
As u were walking down the hallway you pass by all the people being lovey dovey to each other, and some some volenteers decorating parts of the school in hearts.
You forgot! Today is Valentine’s Day
While you continue walking down you run into the “popular guys” or as you know them as Kurro and Bokuto
Almost EVERYONE knows them. Even the teachers are aware of them.
On the other hand You were not really known-as much. mainly because of ur shyness which prevented you from interacting with people as much. You are also on the chubby side and acording to other people’s standards. Was not really intriguing to them

But
Not for these two
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“HEY HEY HEYYY, [Reader name] how’s it going”
-He says as he hugs u from behind-
“Bokuto try not to be so loud the morning.. And hey what’s up [Reader name]?”
-Kurro says as he smiles and pats ur head-
“Say,Are you doing anything for Valentine’s Day~!? You should hang out with us if you’re free”
-Bokuto says as he does his normal smile-
“Usually on days like this people sometimes confess to there crushes and such~”
“Yeah! Like confessing to you!”
-While the duo talks to you-
This slightly catches the attention of some people since they didn’t really expect them to interact with you like that
And especially on Valentine’s Day they’re even more intrigued

You noticed that and that racked ur nerves
U didn’t really like being the center of attention
As you notice this you try to maneuver yourself self away.
“Um I gotta go..”
-You quickly speed walk to ur college lecture-
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
.
.
.
.
After walking away from that situation you thought to urself
(“Thank god I got outta there, anyhow I would’ve stayed there anylonger people would definitely be curious”)
You couldn’t bare the thought of being the center of attention
You’re anxious just thinking about it
And the craziest part is that those two wants to make you their BOYFRIEND
As much as you try to avoid them
They just don’t stop trying
You try to take ur mind out of it by hurrying up to the lecture, you needed the notes anyway
(“Hopefully these 2 hours can take my mind off off this, plus I really needs those notes anyway”)
.
.
.
.
(Time skip) sorry
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
-you get up from ur seat after it felt like hours-
As you walk out into the hallway you can instantly guess who was waiting for you
“HEY HEYY HEYY”
“Yo”
And Kurro
Bokuto ofc
god. He’s been saying “hey hey hey”since he was in Highschool
Never gets old tho
You noticed that they both have something behind there back
“Since it is Valentine’s Day”
“We decided to get something for you!”
They both pull out [insert gift of ur choice]
“Maybe this could even convince you to be our significant other~?”
“I would if I were you hehe~”
In your mind u were really flattered, heck.
You ALMOST gave in to being their boyfriend
But.
That would defeat the whole point of you trying to avoid them
Writer note: I’m just gonna fast forward after this part because my brain is frying and idk what else to put for this part so you can imagine what happens there 🥲
.
.
your walking back to ur dorm after a long day
you can just chill out for now
And your dormate decided to dropout so technically you have the room to urself
-you sigh of relief-
Luckily you don’t have to avoid those two since ur in ur dorm room!
Right?..
Right…
Smut starts here‼️
Right as you grab ur keys you felt someone hug ur waist from the back
-you jump in fear-
but that all changes when you hear that certain someone’s voice
“[Reader nameee] why have you been avoiding uss”
“I-erm-I-uh-a”
You couldn’t even form a sentence
-he puts ur hand under ur shirt-
-caressing ur whole front side while his other hand slowly makes its way down to ur lower groin-
“Now now bokuto let’s not do that in the hallway”
You could instantly guess who that was
Something in your brain told you to open the door
You can already guess where that’s heading
[fast forward]
.
.
.
.
Right now you are sandwiched between them
While Kurro is under you just exploring you praising ur body (we love body positivity<3)
And Bokuto is in front of you giving you head
He sucks on the tip of your dick while stroking this at the same time
You’d wish he just put the whole thing in his mouth already but. He already knows you would cum instantly from him doing that
So for now he’s just having his fun <3
.
.
Now Kurro is just loving all up on you like crazy
Kissing up all over ur neck
Leaving love bites
Telling u how handsome you look
Giving unlimited compliments about you
Just oh.my.goodnes. this man just appreciates you and loves you too DEATH.

I saw your tags on that reblog about voting and, I keep seeing people bring up Project 2025 like it's some horrible thing but doesn't it already say a lot of stuff "those types" of people have already been saying anyways. I don't really understand what makes Project 2025 so different than what they're already doing ykwim
I highly highly recommend watching the LegalEagle video on Project 2025 because while they are discussing Project 2025 they even pull up screenshots of the exact pages with the exact wording that the document contains. I can mention a few things here but I really cannot emphasize enough that this document is over 900+ pages long and covers so many different topics where if I were to discuss everything i see wrong with it and what upsets me this post could easily reach several thousand words
Here is my biggest takeaway: many of the ideas and propositions Project 2025 suggests are either things that are based completely upon faith, morals, and/or opinions, OR, are things that are inherently proven to already be ineffective or even outright dangerous. Project 2025 is an explicitly Christofascist manifesto where they claim that the biggest problems in our country are having too many unmarried mothers, queer people, immigrants, and rejection of the Church (not rejection of religion as a whole, they explicitly use "the church" referring to either christianity or catholicism specifically multiple times throughout the manifesto) and seeks to rectify what it sees as problems with extremely damaging and dramatic actions that are, by definition, fascism, heavily restricting your human rights and even creating targeted government agencies to surveil the American public
>project 2025 explicitly says that fatherlessness is a "principal cause of poverty, crime, rejection of the Church, and high school dropouts" and they seek to rectify this through abolishing no fault divorce and completely getting rid of food stamps and other public welfare programs. How can you be an unmarried mother if you literally cannot access the programs intended to help you feed your child, after all?
>it blatantly preaches that keeping the (exclusively heterosexual) family unit together will solve most of America's problems and they take this to delusional degrees.
>they want to get rid of plan b, birth control, and even CONDOMS and instead insist that women use the rhythm method and track their ovulation cycles which is already known to be extremely ineffective and has been for most of human history
>they want to get rid of Planned Parenthood despite the fact they provide many many health services outside of abortion and even go far as to claim that we wouldn't need STI treatment and prevention once everyone is in monogamous faithful marriages.
> This also pretty explicitly means that if you're not married and want to have sex that they want to leave you without any way to prevent yourself from becoming pregnant and if you do become pregnant, you won't be allowed to seek an abortion and you won't be allowed to raise your own child unless you have a good income. They either want you to straight up fucking die or put your baby up for adoption (but don't worry it's not like Republicans are well known for defunding foster care and there are red states where teachers have explicit legal permission to use corporal punishment on children or anything...)
>they want to completely remove specific words and verbiage from government laws, regulations, and documents, in an extremely blatant attempt to censor the truth and scientific fact to intentionally keep the average American ignorant and uninformed. They want to completely remove language about gender, race, climate change, abortion, and other extremely basic words and topics. They quite literally do not even want you or in this case the government to even MENTION these issues as being real and important because if you don't know about it, you cannot educate yourself and possibly rise up
>did you know Fox News basically never even talks about Project 2025 because they don't want their viewers to even know what it is. The GOP model is to literally keep everyone as stupid as possible to trick them into submission
>speaking of, they want to completely abolish the department of education and this is explicitly because they want to control the flow of information and basically create a massive propaganda infrastructure where only their specific ideology and opinions are taught.
>it explicitly mentions a plan to mass deport immigrants, at least 20 million. I don't think any of us can even properly understand how extremely damaging that is to our country. Every single country on earth relies on immigrants to help keep their economies and job markets afloat and this is a policy explicitly rooted in hatred over fact. It is explicitly racist and is not based in any logic or reasoning besides "we don't want brown people in our country"
>Jesus Christ they hate queer people so much. So so so much. They literally refer to the modern movement or giving queer people and POC more rights and recognition "as the totalitarian cult movement known as The Great Awokening". THESE PEOPLE HAVE HELD POSITIONS IN GOVERMENT AND THIS IS HOW THEY'RE SPEAKING IN THEIR OWN OFFICIAL MANIFESTO. They are childish, delusional, and INSANE
>they want to completely remove uh, laws and regulations preventing you from being discriminated against and fired and being the victim of hate crimes, by the way. They want to be able to fire you if they find out you're queer. They want to physically harm you without repercussions if you are queer. They want you to not even be visible in public if you are queer. If you are a queer child they want your teachers to out you to your parents. If you are queer, they want you dead.
>not related to project 2025 but also related to this topic: did you know the man Trump elected as his Secretary of the Department of Labor, Acosta, was once a forner Epstein defense attorney. Trump was literally directly tied to Epstein and put a fucking Epstein lawyer in high level government. Members who have worked in Trump's administration have worked on this document. These people have already served and have had careers in government and they're THIS fucking nuts and ideologically poisoned
I just. I could literally keep going but it's quite literally just openly fascist behavior. "We don't like when people do this so we're going to make this illegal. We don't like Those People using welfare so we will completely get rid of welfare so no one can use it. We don't like people who don't go to our church so we will force our religious beliefs upon them and make them live by our rules regardless. We KNOW immigrants harvest most of our food and do significant portions of our less desirable manual labor jobs but, they're brown and they vote Democrat and we don't like people who arent straight white religious heterosexual conservatives so we will get rid of them despite the fact it would negatively impact our economy"
I just really cannot emphasize enough how much is riding on this election for not just our country but GLOBAL consequences. America has already been damaged so heavily by this conservative Suprene Court and the more we let these actual cultists take power, the harder they right to make themselves seem reasonable and the right choice and brainwash their already extremely easy to fool supporters, who then are now doing things like, setting ballot boxes on fire and attacking poll workers, all because their God king is still saying his election was stolen despite every single government agency and even governments who align with him saying it didn't happen
I know who I'm voting for in November. Do you? And before anyone wants to say "both sides are the same" you're clearly missing that neutrality explicitly benefits the side that is the most aggressive. Abstaining to vote or voting third party is a vote for Trump and Project 2025. If you are not attempting to stop them, you are assisting them. Buckle in everyone, because it's gonna get real messy over the next few months

Ironically, Aizawa's expulsions would make sense if UA wasn't a Japanese school. While dropouts, transfers, and kicking students out of the Hero course for not meeting standards would legitimately be a thing, in fact, some schools would probably want to have a student who made into the Hero Course but have other issues at hand. The problem is that since UA is in Japan and is a Japanese school, the cultural context about expulsions and the black mark is fundamentally a serious liability and business in Japan compared to the west. Having a black mark in Japan is enough to prevent someone from getting a normal job and MHA Japan would not have enough time to develop away from this mentality, thus causing more problems down the line.
The manner in which Aizawa gives his students black marks instead of basic transfers to the General Course, since full expulsion from UA would be too extreme given that a 2-A does exist in canon, would mean that the moment that these black marked students graduate, they would not get basic jobs even if they graduated from the top school in Japan. There is a difference between changing courses of student and being given a black mark and while both could happen, getting a black mark is a gunshot wound to the person being kicked down the steps. Aizawa ironically is creating more villains and vigilantes on the streets by his actions and those students are very likely to die due to societal pressures and being forced into poverty. It would be an extremely minority that could have back-up plans and money to survive a black mark in Japan.
And let's not get onto Stain as he's just crazy. He would support Aizawa's expulsion of students on the basis of weeding out the weak heroes early. He just forgot that having a black mark is a death sentence in Japan.
See this is why I just don’t get the black mark thing. Like unless Aizawa is meant to be a big bad villain it makes no sense. Him temporarily expelling students to shove them into Gen Ed for a bit is much more reasonable if they need a reality check and fits his personality more. Still a bastard but not some jackass villain. And then he softens as he learns he made the wrong assumptions becoming a better teacher! See?! Way better. Instead we get this.
Also he can scare them with the idea of a black mark but not actually give them one. Fits more to with his logical ruse shit.
There’s a reason I drop canon Aizawa and it’s cause his shit makes no sense.
Stain would approve. Hes a bitch. I really do not like him.

A little-noticed research revolution confirms that our family courts are damaging the health of our children on a daily basis.
In 2014, three separate and independent groups of experts reviewed decades of child development research. They found that after parents separate or divorce, children do much better with shared parenting — joint custody — on multiple measures of wellbeing than with single parenting. Yet in more than eight out of 10 custody cases today, one parent (usually the mother) is awarded sole guardianship.
The negative impact on our children is dramatic. For instance, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Census Bureau, children raised by single parents account for:
63 percent of teen suicides,
70 percent of juveniles in state-operated institutions,
71 percent of high school dropouts,
75 percent of children in chemical abuse centers,
85 percent of those in prison,
85 percent of children who exhibit behavioral disorders
And 90 percent of homeless and runaway children.
Last year’s formation of Gov. O’Malley’s Commission on Child Custody Decision Making is a promising start to tackling the problem. However, much work remains to ensure that more children experience the benefits of shared parenting, which include fewer behavioral and emotional problems, higher self-esteem, better family relations and better school performance than children in sole custody arrangements, according to 2002 Maryland research. Psychologist Robert Bauserman, then of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, conducted a meta-analysis of 33 studies between 1982 to 1999 that examined 1,846 sole-custody and 814 joint-custody children and found that children in joint custody arrangements were as well adjusted as intact family children on the same measures.
As the International Council on Shared Parenting put it in July, “shared parenting is a viable post-divorce parenting arrangement that is optimal to child development and well-being, including for children of high conflict parents.” This represented the consensus of nearly 100 experts from over 20 countries. Similar sentiments were recently expressed by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (“Children’s best interests are furthered by parenting plans that provide for continuing and shared parenting relationships “), and by 110 experts around the world who endorsed a consensus statement published in February the journal of the American Psychological Association (“shared parenting should be the norm”).
Shared parenting is also better for parents. The claim is often made that joint custody exposes children to ongoing parental conflict. In fact, the studies in Mr. Bauserman’s review found lower levels of conflict with shared parenting, possibly by disposing of the winner-loser feelings that come with a sole custody decision. Shared parenting also gives each parent a break from continuous child care responsibilities.
Towson dad Mark Cyzyk reports that, “12 years out” his teen-aged daughter is thriving. She recently brought home straight A’s, has a good group of friends and appears well adjusted. “For as far back as she can remember,” Mr. Cyzyk said, “she’s had two homes, two extended families, and now with remarriages that’s four extended families, all of whom care for her deeply. I couldn’t be more proud of her and am lucky to have been awarded shared physical custody years ago. But I should not have had to rely on luck — nor should she.”
And neither should the other Maryland children whose parents separate or divorce. The alternative to reform in Maryland is a continuation of the one-size-fits-all tradition of giving sole custody to one parent. This is the outcome in more than 80 percent of cases, so that 35 percent of American children are being raised by only one parent, according to the U.S Census Bureau. In some cases, one parent has walked away from the children. But in most cases, the family courts have created a sole custody arrangement even though both parents are fit and both wish to remain closely involved with their children.
Governor O’Malley’s commission holds out hope that family structure after separation or divorce will become part of Maryland’s dialogue about children’s health, emotional balance, educational difficulties, substance abuse problems, bullying and violence. Family court reforms that return both parents to 35 percent of our children where possible would help them in all these realms at no cost to the taxpayer, while bringing children what they most want: two loving parents actively involved in their lives.

"Country singer Dolly Parton wrote the songs "I Will Always Love You" and "Jolene" on the same night. When the first song was at the top of the charts in 1974, Elvis wanted to record his own version of the song. Dolly was interested until Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis' manager, said that it was standard procedure that when the king of rock and roll covered a song - half of the rights to that song would go to him in the future. She refused it. "I said, 'I'm really, really sorry' and cried all night. It was terrible for me, on the one hand, it's Elvis. People told me: "You are crazy." It's Elvis Presley...' but I just couldn't do it. Something told me in my heart not to do it and I didn't. I know he would rock with that song. But I couldn't. And then Whitney Houston came along with her version and I made enough money from the rights to buy Dollywood." She grew up in severe poverty and no one famous has done more for the education of the poor than her. In 1990, the percentage of students who did not graduate from high school in her hometown was over 30%. She introduced the "Buddy Program", where all high school graduates received a nice sum when they graduated. It wasn't just a waste of money, she personally came and explained the concept to them - everyone should find a buddy, and whoever doesn't succeed she will find one for them. Everyone had to sign that they will graduate and do everything in their power to ensure that their buddy also graduates. She taught young people about friendship and helping. The number of school dropouts dropped to below 6% and has remained so until today. When 900 families lost their homes in the 2016 fires, she paid each family $1,000 for the next five months. When she came to the bank to finish the paperwork, she gave each family another $5,000 to find a new home. A total of nine million dollars. Also, her work - Imagination Library from 1995, was inspired by her realization that young people in rural areas and poor families already fall behind when they start school and that this prevents them from pursuing higher education. The goal of her program was for every child in her district to receive one book, once a month, from birth to school, completely free of charge, without any conditions. It started as an initiative in her hometown and has spread to a huge number of countries around the world. By 2018, over 100 million books were distributed in this way. She is also known for her witty statements, at the beginning of her career she said-"I'm not offended by jokes about stupid blondes because I know I'm not stupid... and I'm not really blonde either.""

There was that joke in the fandom about Horikoshi looking through fanfics to see what theories to make canon like the "Dabi being Touya" or "the UA traitor" (even tho most of those were just stuff hinted at in the canon before hand). Since we're doing the whole "sharing memories" bit, the one fanfic trope he can definitely throw in the manga right now is the "Spinner tells Shigaraki he used to have a tail that got cut off by bullies"
Is that a popular trope? Enough to be a thing Horikoshi would pick up on. I don't think it's anywhere near the same level as 'Dabi is the lost Todoroki son' and 'UA Traitor is _____'… but it would be interesting if Spinner Tail Trauma is made canon.
Though at this late stage, I don't know if I want it, to be honest! If it's a memory, it's angst fuel to develop characters other than Spinner - guy wouldn't even be there for it. It would a real iffy choice to show something deeply personal and traumatic that happened to Spinner, something so unjust, without Spinner there—and really only for the benefit of the contrived connection between Shigaraki and Deku.
I guess because Spinner is still unaccounted for, he can still show up so it doesn't have to be just a memory, but. Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. HeroAca resolutions are less about the victims and what they're owed, and more about how cool and merciful the Heroes are for saving them. This would be that, but even more so, and infinitely worse.
Plus, it would make the heteromorph riot mini-arc even more of a mess. Not to say there's levels of suffering that can be compared, but in-universe and in story, Shoji is kinda framed as having been worst off - his parents weren't heteromorphic like him, he got bashed in the face with a rake and was heavily scarred for life after he saved a girl from drowning, then he even has to wear a mask to prevent people from thinking he's resentful for being the victim of a hate crime. All that, but he came out of it with a strong and golden moral core, ready to be a great and inspirational Hero who protects the status quo.
Shoji's positioned as being in the right: here was a kid who suffered terribly, but he still managed to overcome the odds and be a Good Person, who thought deeply about the Right Way to end discrimination and is putting it into action (which is being a model minority). So what's everyone else's excuse?
Meanwhile, Spinner's backstory is that he only gets sprayed with pesticides, succumbs to being a NEET hikikomori, and goes running off to join terrorists without a single original thought in his head. For the narrative to work, he needs to be the selfish, hypocritical loser who didn't try hard enough to overcome his hardships that were comparatively mild.
If Spinner was revealed to have a tail cut off by bullies, the bnha balance of heteromorphic good and evil would collapse. A young boy's classmates mutilates him as the apex of heteromorphobic bullying, and the victim was left to languish as a high school dropout shut-in? That's not something that can be fixed by waiting out generations (just wait for the adults to die! their mindset would go with them—oh, but the perpetrators are the new generation…) or having the victim change their behavior (there's just no excuse for chopping off a child's body part). That reveals something much darker in the fabric of society that Heroes' plucky 'work-harder! plus ultra!' optimism are unequiped to handle.
At the very least, it's something that "Stop holding a grudge" and "Sorry for not realizing earlier" (as the rando hero tells the PLF guy in Chapter 373) and "Shine bright until your torments feel ashamed" are utterly insufficient and unconvincing in resolving. Not quite as inspirational, you know?
I'm sorry anon! I know you were asking as a joke, offering a fun idea. And I do like it! I'm still not opposed to Spinner having that canon backstory if the writing around it was to suddenly radically change the story and expand it by 300 more chapters to fix everything. I still love the idea that Spinner had a tail. I just took it too seriously and overthought it. My apologies. Thanks for the ask.

Benefits of UP Government Scholarships for Higher Education
Education is a transformative tool that paves the way for economic and social progress. In Uttar Pradesh, a state with a burgeoning young population, the pursuit of higher education is often hindered by financial constraints. Recognizing this, the UP Government has implemented various scholarship schemes to support students in their academic endeavors. These scholarships not only alleviate financial burdens but also foster a more educated and skilled workforce, contributing significantly to the state's development.
Empowering Economically Disadvantaged Students
One of the primary benefits of UP Government scholarships is the financial support they provide to economically disadvantaged students. Many families in Uttar Pradesh struggle to afford the costs associated with higher education, such as tuition fees, books, and living expenses. Scholarships like the Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, SC, ST Students and the Dr. Ambedkar National Merit Scholarship help bridge this gap, enabling students from low-income families to pursue their academic goals without the burden of financial stress.
Promoting Educational Equity
The UP Government scholarships are designed to promote educational equity by ensuring that students from marginalized communities have access to higher education. Programs like the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships specifically target students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). By providing these students with the necessary financial resources, the government helps level the playing field, ensuring that all students, regardless of their socio-economic background, have an equal opportunity to succeed.
Enhancing Academic Performance
Financial constraints often force students to work part-time jobs, which can detract from their academic performance. By alleviating these financial burdens, scholarships allow students to focus more on their studies. Research has shown that students who receive financial aid tend to have better academic outcomes compared to their peers who do not. With the support of UP Government scholarships, students can dedicate more time and energy to their coursework, leading to higher grades and better overall academic performance.
Encouraging Female Education
Another significant benefit of UP Government scholarships is their role in promoting female education. Initiatives like the Kanya Vidya Dhan Yojana are specifically aimed at encouraging girls to pursue higher education. By providing financial incentives, these scholarships help break down the barriers that often prevent girls from continuing their education beyond secondary school. As more women receive higher education, the state benefits from a more diverse and inclusive workforce, driving social and economic progress.
Reducing Dropout Rates
High dropout rates are a major challenge in Uttar Pradesh's education system. Financial difficulties are one of the leading causes of students dropping out of school and college. Scholarships play a crucial role in reducing these dropout rates by providing the necessary financial support to keep students in school. The Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships have been particularly effective in this regard, helping thousands of students complete their education and pursue successful careers.
Boosting Employment Opportunities
Higher education significantly enhances employability, and scholarships make it possible for more students to attain advanced degrees. The UP Government's focus on providing scholarships for higher education has a direct impact on the state's employment rates. By equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for the workforce, these scholarships help create a more qualified and competitive labor market. Graduates who benefit from these programs are better positioned to secure well-paying jobs, contributing to the overall economic development of the state.
Fostering Innovation and Research
Scholarships also play a vital role in fostering innovation and research within the state. By supporting students in their pursuit of higher education, the UP Government is investing in the next generation of researchers and innovators. Scholarships like the Chief Minister's Fellowship Scheme provide funding for students to undertake advanced research projects, contributing to the state's academic and technological advancements. This not only enhances the state's reputation as a center for education and innovation but also attracts further investment and development.

[BRIGADOON | PLAYLIST | PINTEREST | INSPO]
GENERAL
Name: Elijah Bell
Age: 52 ; born June 23rd 1972
Gender/Pronouns: Cis Man, He/Him
Faceclaim: Khary Payton
BACKGROUND
Place of Birth: Riverdale, Georgia, US
Family: Darius Bell [father] ; Mary Bell [mother]
Previous Occupation: English Major [Dropout]
Biography:
Knowing peace is not a requirement for a life well led, right?
Being born in a southern suburb came with it's own challenges - most importantly, keeping up appearances. Darius and Mary Bell certainly worked hard to present themselves as hard-working, modern, church-going residents of suburbia. And the birth of their long awaited only son seemed to perfectly fit into the life they created.
The only thing that seemed to disturb the family idyll seemed to be Elijah's tendency to wander the moment he could walk. No order for him to stay put stop him from exploring, no instruction to come straight home after school prevented him from taking a detour. Elijah seemed to feel a natural joy at exploring, taking new opportunities without hesitation. With how well Elijah performed in school, certain things could be overlooked. His parents called him 'free-spirited', the nickname 'Wild child' was mostly affectionate coming from his relatives.
That was until one day, Elijah was brought home by the police. Elijah had been caught train-hopping, and taken into custody. Getting the charges dropped was hard enough - ereasing the stain it'd left on the family's reputation proved to be much harder. The worst seemed to be that Elijah never offered much an explanation of why, other than a shrug. That changed the lenient attitude his parents had towards his escapades - and aside from being going to school or planned meetings
Despite the incident, the fact that Elijah would end up in college seemed to be set from the beginning, the second one in his family to go. The choice of his English major, however, was not quite as well met by his parents. Even if it guaranteed him a full scholarship, his parents felt that such a major would be a waste of time, and made no attempt to hide it, though they didn't succeed in persuading their son, who seemed apathetic to their disapproval.
Elijah doesn't really talk about his time in college, aside from a few offhand remarks. He doesn't mention what exactly caused him to drop out after a year and in the middle of the night. The first message his parents got about their son dropping out was from Elijah himself, calling them from a gas station over in South Carolina. The shock sat deep, and their pleading and anger did not move their son.
From that point on, the amount of times Elijah returned to his home state on two hands. Instead opting to travel the US, then soon enough the rest of the world, he went about his new life of backpacking and hitchhiking, hardly staying in a place for longer than a couple of weeks.
And though it not could be called peace, Elijah seemed utterly, completely content. Moving around seemed to spark something, though he could not tell you why.
But one has to follow happiness right?

Schuyler County may ask state to reject legislation that could close shooting ranges statewide
A proposed bill in the New York Senate is a gun control law being presented under the guise of an environmental law, warns the Schuyler County Clerk.
According to County Clerk Theresa Philbin, "the Sporting Range Good Neighbor Act," currently pending in the New York State Senate, would place heavy restrictions on shooting ranges, due to proximity to wetlands and open water sources, potentially forcing existing ranges to close.
That, in turn, would prevent people from getting pistol permits. It would also mean local school shooting leagues would have no place to practice.
At Philbin’s request, on Monday (May 13) the Schuyler County Legislature will consider a resolution asking state officials to reject the bill.
The proposed resolution, drafted with the assistance of Schuyler County Attorney Steven Getman, cleared the county’s Management and Finance Committee in April. It points out that the proposed act “will cause severe hardship on the clubs, members and schools who depend upon the fish and game clubs for this very popular recreational sport in Schuyler County and the Finger Lakes with no empirical evidence that the mandates and restrictions are necessary.”
“This Bill is based upon misinformation as to the trajectory of skeet shots, and the reason why most trap and skeet fields have been operating for decades without the need for this additional legislation,” the resolution notes.
“This mis-named Act would require skeet field tracts at shooting ranges to be a minimum of 600 yards by 300 yards….Participants are shooting shotguns with small lead pellet loads which are only capable of traveling a maximum distance of 150-200 yards; in addition, most clubs reclaim the expended pellets for reuse.”
The bill says these restrictions will prevent lead from bullets getting into the environment.
Critics of the bill, including Philbin, have noted that shooting ranges already have to meet restrictive guidelines to operate safely, costing them up to $100,000, and that restrictions will cost thousands of dollars more, possibly forcing them to close.
“This Bill essentially will force most ranges and clubs to build a covered backstop and be required to follow the State rules regarding lead reclamation,” Philbin said. “Most if not all clubs will not be able to afford to comply with these regulations.”
Getman noted that closing ranges could impact citizens’ ability to obtain a pistol permit under New York State’s gun control laws.
“If you wish to apply for a concealed carry license, you need to complete the Concealed Carry Firearm Safety Training Course,” Getman said. “Often, those classes are held at the local ranges.”
“Forcing those ranges to close would effectively prevent many New Yorkers from exercising their Second Amendment rights.”
According to Philbin, it is not just club members who participate at these ranges, but also school trap teams. “When you look at those kids that are on school-sponsored sports teams, they get better grades in school, they have a lower dropout rate, they stay away from alcohol and drugs and tobacco,” she said.
"This legislation could negatively affect students’ futures. That’s why we want to protect our clubs."
The county’s resolution, if passed, will be sent to Gov. Kathy Hochul and the county’s representatives in the New York State legislature, Senator Thomas O’Mara and Assemblyman Philip Palmesano, asking each to oppose the bill.
The Schuyler County Clerk is the point of contact for pistol permit processing in Schuyler County. Amendments to the permit, name and/or address changes, transfers to/from other counties, as well as suspensions are made through the office. Pistol permit records are kept in the office, the original of each record is sent to the state.
The Schuyler County Attorney is the legal advisor for county government and its various officials. The County Attorney prepares legislation and prosecutes and defends civil actions on behalf of the county and county employees acting pursuant to their official duties.
A complete copy of the proposed resolution is available here
