I’m about to begin a new novel, so I thought I would check in and ask the cards “What do you I need to know about my relationship with writing?” I drew the 3 of Wands from Tarot 33.6, the Page of Swords from The SPT 33.6 Transitions Tarot and the King of Pentacles from Sawyers Path Tarot. I’m constantly searching for my next project and try to grab hold of them all at once and take them all on at the same time. I keep going until I need to focus on grounding myself once more. 🌟 I have been trying to learn all about balance and I’ve been trying to find moment of joy in my craft again, so I asked the cards “How can I change my relationship with writing?” I drew the King of Pentacles from the Tarot 33.6, Justice from the SPT 33.6 Transitions Tarot and the Emperor from Sawyers Path Tarot. I need to ground myself first, find balance between my craft and the other elements of my life and make those elements part of the foundations that I build my new relationship with writing on. 🌟 I can’t give all of myself to my craft. This evening, I asked the cards “What do I need to know about my internal critic?” 🌟 There is a voice inside my head that is always pushing me to create more, to be continually creating and when I’m not, it gets upset and makes me angry. It almost hurts when I’m not writing or painting or creating something. I try to hold all of the idea I have to myself, try to do everything that my internal critic tells me that I *should* be doing. It’s gotten to the point where that kind of drive feels like home, mostly because it’s what I know, what I’ve always held on to. 🌟 This evening, I found myself going down that path again. It’s not even the end of the first month of the year and my internal critic was pushing me to sit and write, to just write anything, to create for the sake not of creating, but of putting out more work as if to justify my existence. I held that thought and looked at it, studied it for a moment. I didn’t need to hold on to it any longer. What I create doesn’t equal my worth. I’m not worth less because I’m in not writing. 🌟 So, I asked the cards “How can I forge a new direction for myself?” 🌟 I just have to choose a different direction. I don’t have to decide what I’m doing right away, right now or this evening. I can take my time choosing what I want to do and follow the words when they come to me. I need to look at words with joy again, let them take me on a voyage. I need to fall in love with words once more and let them come from my spirit, not my mind. I also need to learn balance. That was one of my new years resolutions, to let myself balance writing, play and rest. This morning, I asked the cards "How can I sparkle on today?" I drew the 6 of Pentacles from The Sawyer's Path Tarot. 🌟 I've been feeling emotionally heavy as of late. What with the world being in turmoil and winter hitting us full force right now, there are all sorts of emotions running through me. It seems like it's been a long time since I've seen any kind of light, so I want to bring my own. 🌟 I need to ground myself in acts of kindness. I should reach out to others and see what they need right now as we are all in the midst of some kind of storm. This evening, I asked the cards "What did I learn today?" I reflected on the past a lot today. There were memories of joy in my life that shone and taught me to love. Knowing that I had love in my past showed me what to look out for in my present. Sometimes, you look back at a memory and it's such a sweet surprise to find it there. This morning, I asked the cards "How can I change my reaction to events?" I drew the Knight of Wands from Sawyer's Path Tarot. 🦎 Because of events that happened throughout my past, when something goes wrong I react in three different ways: I'm stupid, I'm wrong and I will fix it. These three reactions have an offshoot of various other reactions that add to the downward spiral. 🦎 The Knight of Wands is looking ahead to the future, keeping his eyes on what is coming rather than what came before. I'm usually way too hard on myself but I'm trying to let that behaviour go and embrace self love. If I remind myself that I *can* love myself often enough, it will become a new habit. 🌟 However, I am already surrounded by love. It's all around me and my life is abundant with it. This evening, I asked the cards “What’s my relationship with self care?” 🌟 Often, I look for external sources for self care when what I should be doing is looking within. I’m very good at loving others, but not myself because I have always done this to fix a problem and make others happy. I’m forgetting about myself in the long run and then when I do, it’s a rush to give myself that self care I need until I burn myself out. 🌟 I need to make self care part of the foundations of my health so that I have the stability to work on finding my balance and my footing. I need to take a restful stance to this. Self care shouldn’t be stressful or emotionally taxing. It should be enjoyable and blissful. I’m over thinking it. This morning, I asked the cards “What do I need to know today?” While I was shuffling, the 3 of Cups from the Sawyer’s Path Tarot jumped out of the deck. 💖 I love the reminder that this card brings. Life is constantly in motion around me. The water is always flowing, the moon is always changing from waxing to full to waning. The world is in constant change. Tomorrow will not be the same as today and I let go of what came before and embrace the possibilities of the now and the possible future. 💖 Throughout all of this change, there are some things that will remain the same. Even though we are all far apart right now, there are people in my life that are close to me because they are in my heart. I thought of my family and friends when I first looked at this card, at the love and light that they fill my life with. 💖 I need to know that life is always changing and so am I. This evening, I asked the cards “What is my relationship with balance?” I drew The Wheel of Fortune from the Tarot 33.6, the 10 of Swords from the SPT 33.6 Tarot Transitions and the 5 of Swords from the Sawyer’s Path Tarot. 🌟 I am always on this cycle of the wheel, turning and turning, always trying to do too much until I become exhausted, and I have no choice but to stop. This morning, I asked the cards "What do I need to know about putting myself first?" I drew the King of Wands, the Page of Pentacles and the 9 of Wands from The Sawyer's Path Tarot. 🌟 I have difficulty choosing myself. I will do everything for anyone else, even if it means harm to me. I will eventually choose myself when I have no choice and will feel guilty about doing so. I can't continue this way. 🌟 I have to remember to listen to my internal wisdom. Throughout my life, I've learned or been taught so many lessons that have added to my growth. I may be a creative powerhouse, but every fire needs to be tended to and taken care of. 🌟 I must choose a different direction for myself and look at every new choice I make for myself as an opportunity for expansion. There is always another way forwards, even if it's not easy. I need to take the direction that will be good for me *and* others. 🌟 I can't discount everything I've been through. This evening, I thought I’d try a little something different. I asked the cards “How far have I come on my journey?” I drew the 5 of Wands from the Tarot 33.6, the Knight of Pentacles from the SPT 33.6 Tarot Transitions and the 9 of Wand from the Sawyer’s Path Tarot. I also drew the Hen from the Sawyer’s Nature Portals and Book from Sawyer’s Lenormand. It’s also the first time that I’ve used a casting board! ⭐ My life may have started with a battle, a time where I had to fight to find the place that I belonged as well fighting against a body that made sure every day was a fight. However, I always looked ahead, knowing that there were opportunities out there for me, a place where I belonged and where I could find my home. It took me a while to start on the journey forward, but it brought me to where I am now, surrounded by everything that I’ve created in my life. The jeweled tipped wands look like paint brushes and make me think of how I found part of my home in front of the canvas. ⭐ If I look at the cards below, at the Hen and the Book, it’s like the other part of me. I protect those I love and I also work hard at protecting myself and my spirit. It looks like I’m about to step from the nest and protect myself and my own. The book is very telling, because much as I found part of myself in paints, I found the other part of myself in the words I write every day. ⭐ This has been a journey of growth and expansion. This morning, I asked the cards "How do I engage in self love today?" I drew the 10 of Swords from The Sawyer's Path Tarot. 🔪 I've been struggling a lot with self love as of late. I have real difficulty loving what I see in the mirror. Covid has brought the voice of the internal critic to a loud volume and instead of love when I look at myself, I pick out every fault or cringe when I look at pictures of myself. 🔪 I don't know who the voice of my internal critic belongs to, but it ends today. In reality, this has all been a journey towards loving myself and being comfortable with who I am and how I look. 🔪 I will pull the Swords from my back, thank each one for the lessons that they taught me and start walking on a new path of self love.
