The Taurus-Hierophant Connection: 🌟 Why and how is the Hierophant ruled by Taurus? What is the connection between this Fixed Earth sign and such a heady, spiritual card (perhaps more quickly evoking Water or Air at first pass?) To understand, we need to talk about High Priestess. Just as Empress and Emperor complement each other in meaning and in function, so do the High Priestess and the Hierophant, or as they’re called in Tarot de Marseilles, The Pope and Papess. 🌟 High Priestess is a receptive energy. They are a channel, sitting in perfect stillness communing with the Sacred Mystery. They do not take action, and do not find words to translate their experience. Their full attention is focused on listening. Hierophant, then, is the active energy in this pair. What happens when we take our pure mystical experience and activate it? We bring it into the physical realm, grounding ourselves into the earth and delighting in the link between spirit and body. We are present, we are well rooted, and every movement of our wonderful bodies is infused with the spirit flowing through us. That, my friends, is the experience of Taurus in its highest form. 🌟 Hierophant is the embodiment of Taurus in its sensual, grounded character. That fixed earth element creates a stable vessel for spirit, who exults in inhabiting a body with hands that can create, and a voice that can sing. When motivated by love, that body is often also compelled to share their ecstatic experience with others so that they too can feel such a joyous relationship to spirit. In their purest form, Hierophant would never share this message as a way to insert themselves in a position of power.
