Just finished Andor, so some thoughts:

Over all, I think it was a really good show, and I'm really going to miss it. I kind of wish I'd dragged it out more lol, but I don't think I could've paced myself to an episode a week.

I really loved the development of Kleya that we got, and now she's def one of my new favorite characters.

We got criminally little of K2, but I loved (most of) what we got. (Tbh Cass & Wilmon pausing to load him up in the middle of the massacre landed a little awkwardly imo but I can kind of understand the decision.)

I... did not love how they handled Bix. I'm glad she lived and got a relatively happy ending, but having her just up and leave to further Cass's potential, not even tell him face to face just bail, and never tell him about what is presumably his child... idk, it felt like a rather gross, lazy, and cliché handling of a female character. "The Man is important to serving the cause and saving the world and the woman is to go back to the farm and have his legacy so his sacrifice is all worth it" is the vibe it was giving and that is an old and misogynist trope I was not happy to see playing out here. Felt like a Bring Honor To Us All "a man by bearing arms, a girl by bearing sons" moment. I'm not saying it's wrong for a woman—especially one who has done and been through so much—to get to live in a relative peace and have a child; it's more about the narrative of HOW this was handled, how it lines up with a misogynist trope because of how it was presented and the choices she made to get there, that I don't like. Again, Bix getting to live in relative peace as a mom is not the problem; HOW it was written—ye olde "I shall leave so as not to drag you down, great man", breaking up via text, and never telling him about (presumably) his kid, is a cheap and lazy way of getting there that does disservice to her character, imo.

Still really did not like how they handled Cinta's death either and think it did, at the very least, skirt the line of Bury Your Gays. Not so much because a lesbian character died, but because (again) of how it was handled. Idk, something smells about the way a lesbian character and WOC, who was near completely absent throughout the rest of the season, was given the ol' lesbian-death-by-stray-bullet in a way that was NOT, actually, given the same kind of weight that the death of other side characters was, directly after her moment of happiness/declaration of love. Yes, other characters die, and I personally agree that Vel and Cinta should not have had guaranteed plot armor in this particular show; but this show and this decision don't exist in a vacuum. HOW they killed her, how they showed the fallout, doesn't sit right with me.

It fits the pattern of how lesbian characters tend to get treated in media, which feels lazy and disrespectful. It felt poorly done, not only in method and timing, but also in the aftermath of it. The moment was cut with Luthen & Kleya practically giggling together and Bix having a BAMF scene—two scenes of relief and triumph. The focus on her storyline wasn't even about her. It wasn't even so much about the pain of her white lover—which itself would be wrong but ig there would be SOME connection to her in the hole she left behind—as it was emphasizing the feelings of the rando (white) guy who killed her. In a vacuum, sure, Vel's speech is interesting; as the narrative cap to Cinta's life, it's a weird ass choice imo.

Also I still think Vel would've been the more interesting one to die; Cinta just got a chance to be vulnerable, so ripping that away from her would hit more than ripping her from Vel did, for me. I know it might've been due to scheduling conflicts with the actress, but considering how little screentime Vel had after it... idk, would swapping her out for Cinta have been that difficult? It would have balanced out how absent Cinta was, too, and remove the lowkey racist feel that barely giving Cinta any screentime and bringing her back just to kill her had...

I do think it was a generally good show, I'm sad to see it end, and I've been bugging my friends to watch it and give me their thoughts. But I don't think it's above criticism, and I'm really getting uncomfortable with the way some fans try to shut down that criticism with moral shaming—the "are you really gonna be so petty and shallow over some perceived flaws when the political themes are so important?" types when yes, it's actually possible to... digest political themes (esp those that for me are preaching to the choir) AND criticise mishandling of women and lesbians, esp if that mishandling veers accidentally into harmful tropes that do a disservice to the political themes as well. Or if it's not moral shaming, it's sneering about a lack of ""media literacy"" bc catching onto themes that are retrodding tired and problematic old ground is... stupid, apparently?? Idk. I'm not saying all criticism is in-depth and well-thought-out, nor that it's all right/everyone must agree with it, but I wish we could ditch the moral shaming and digs at intelligence for daring to criticise, and let people discuss it more civilly. (Civil disagreements are so underrated actually, I love seeing different opinions that help broaden my own on things, even when I don't agree with them.) But I don't think anybody's actually read this far lol, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

I'm gonna miss this show & need to go rewatch Rogue One now. ✌️

Oh my god. So I binge read ur lesbian!lawstappen works because they are literally my girls and im a lesbian who loves evil blondes. Idea: evil blondes take the 2025 fia awards. It’s up to you to decide how the 2025 season goes but however it goes they show up to the fia award ceremony arm in arm (teammates rivals lovers who cares they’re gay they tick all the boxes) Liam is. Insane. The dress idk what vibe but like. She looks amazing. And she’s forced max to be presentable and the two of them. I’m thinking contrasting colour schemes but sharing accessories. Just them at an awards ceremony or fancy event and them both just gay panicking over the other in their own way.

Max is used to running late for things.

Not because she's especially bad at time management, but because she usually can't be bothered to try and show up on time. Most events can't really start without her, and if they can, they're not really events she wants to be attending anyway. She likes the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony, sure, but that comes with the condition of her winning. If Max wasn't winning, and therefore the one being given a prize, Max would've much rather ditched. So, Max waits until the last second because she can, takes her time on the roads because she can, and shows up about three to fifteen minutes later than her team ever wants her to, give or take.

Max is used to running late for everything, save for races. This, of course, is always on purpose, and is always a statement. Max, frankly, would love to run late to the 2025 Prize Giving Ceremony, because she won, sure, but the FIA had been a pain in everyone's ass this year, especially her own, and she would've liked to stick it to them a bit.

Unfortunately, Max is taking Liam as a date this year. Which is unfortunate purely because Liam cares so much about being on time, and Max cares about Liam so much that she’s not even angry that her plans for revenge are being spoiled. It’s honestly kind of gross, because Max isn’t even grossed out at herself for it. It’s like having a crush all over again, like being those teenagers in the movies Max had made fun of. She trails after Liam like a puppy, lets Liam drag her to events on time and lets Liam make her seem domesticated and kind and non-threatening in the media. She lets Liam dress her up. It’s disgusting, and Max likes it so much.

Max is not used to dressing up. She hated frills and sequins and tulle as a child, found it uncomfortable and itchy, and when her dad put her in karting, there wasn’t a place for it. Her mom used to put her in beautiful clothing, not feminine but high quality, cashmere sweaters and child-fitted denim and sweet little sneakers. These things would get ruined at the track, so Max never took them, and so Max began to live in her hoodies and tees and whatever jeans fit well enough. It’s not like her father was particularly fashionable, and Red Bull never required more than the rare formal suit from her. They would’ve preferred a dress, obviously, but Max told them to fuck themselves and wore a suit, and just keep wearing that suit.

Liam —obviously, with her vintage and her curated wardrobes of shoes and denim and designer, with her personal stylist and personal nail artist— takes Max a bit out of her shell fashion-wise. Nothing crazy, but nicer sneakers, more designed and graphic and adventurous tees. She finds Max jeans that fit nicely, jeans with red and gold embroidery along the pockets and the hems. She pushes Max towards a haircut that isn’t fucked up pixie cut combined with little boy, asks her to maybe quit it with the hats on occasion.

Liam took one look at the three suits that Max had used in rotation since she started in Formula One and sighed. “I’m calling my stylist,” She had said, and left absolutely zero room for argument. Max wouldn’t have argued anyway. At this point in her career, she knows when she’s beat.

So, it is three hours before the ceremony, and Max is on her way to Liam’s apartment, which is really just Alex’s apartment, because Liam moved in with Alex as a test for if she actually wants to live in Monaco, but Alex isn’t home, with Lily or something, so it’s Liam’s apartment then. Max is getting ready three hours before the ceremony, which she usually waits until she has thirty  to fifteen minutes until she has to be there. It’s a strange feeling, especially because she is entirely underdressed, not even bringing the shoes that she’s going to wear because Liam insisted on getting everything for her. Max, once she gets there, tentatively pushes the door open, looking around for Liam.

“Liam?” Max calls out, standing awkwardly in the doorway, in just her sweatpants and a Red Bull tee, toeing her shoes off because Liam insists on it. 

“In here!” Liam calls out from the bathroom, and Max takes a few steps before Liam starts yelling again. “Wait, wait! Don’t come in, just... Go sit! On the bed!” Max turns to wander into Liam’s room, which was once the guest room. Liam’s taken it over though, with her racks of clothing and shelves of shoes and bags and hats and belts. Her bed is layered with thick comforters, plush and heavy, and Max sinks into it. She fiddles on her phone a bit, as Liam makes more noise in the bathroom. It takes her almost an hour before she’s rushing into the bedroom.

“Hello,” Liam heaves, and Max looks up and— Yeah, okay, whatever! Liam is beautiful. Which Max knew, obviously, since before they were half-dating, half-hooking-up, and fully teammates. But, sometimes, it still shocks Max, in the way that winning grand prixs and championships will never wear off in its joy. Liam’s hair is curling over her shoulders sweetly, the front pieces of her hair being pulled back into a circlet of braids, pinned in the back with golden pins in the shapes of wings. Her makeup is glittery and enchanting, an ombre of navy blue and deep red and gold shimmer, a red, glossy lip, and long lashes. She looks like a princess, even in a sports bra and boxers. She rushes past Max, trailing her fingers through Max’s hair as she passes, and Max just watches, her mouth a little dry and her head a little light.

“Hi,” Max replies, belatedly, but Liam doesn’t notice. She’s whipped open the doors to her closet, taking out two dry cleaning bags and tossing them next to Max on the bed. She digs further, and takes out two pairs of shoes, a lacy, guazy heel and a dark, almost pitch, blue loafer. She doesn’t throw these at Max, thankfully.

“What time is it?” Liam asks distractedly, and Max hums, checking her phone.

“Two hours early,” Max says, in lieu of an actual time, and Liam nods. 

“Good, then we have enough time to get dressed and get there and be twenty minutes early.” Liam says, and Max does not groan, but only because she likes Liam enough to not complain. She also understands that Liam has committed herself to doing the talking tonight, to the sponsors and the FIA and the other drivers, so all Max has to do is show up, look as non-bitchy as possible, accept her championship trophy for the fifth year in a row, and go home. Easy. Liam begins to put on her shoes, supporting her foot on the bed as she tucks her foot into the mesh-like material of the red shoe, embroidered and looking entirely unsupportive. Liam looks incredibly comfortable in them though, and Liam takes her boxers off, and pulls up the shapewear she forced Max to understand the other night. Then, and only then, does she unzip the dry cleaning bags, which Max awaits with bated breath.

It’s beautiful. Obviously. It’s pale and a little see-through and entirely more avant-garde than anything Max had seen at these events in a long time. It’s structured, corseted, with a beaded, beautiful heart on the bust, with strands of gold stretching out like the sun from it. 

“You would not believe,” Liam starts, slipping it out of the bag and stepping into it carefully, “the amount of effort it took to get this approved. I mean, honestly, the FIA should know my deal, at this point! But, no, they said it didn’t ‘count as black tie’” Liam scoffs, air quoting with one hand as the other holds up her dress in the front. She waves to Max to get up, gesturing at the laces in the back. Max heaves herself up and tightens as Liam continues to rant, half bent over the bed. “Which is such bullshit! They let men wear the same disgusting suits that barely count as tuxedos every year, and they let girls wear essentially American prom dresses every year, but I want something that goes a little above my ankle and it’s a no go! I got it, obviously, but truly, I think they have something out for me!” Max hums and nods at all the right intervals, before patting Liam on the back in a manner of saying it’s as tight as possible, I can do nothing more. Liam takes a deep breath, and thanks Max in an exhale. Max nods, kissing Liam’s shoulder before turning her around.

“How do I look?” Liam asks, breathlessly beautiful and enchanting. Her waist is tiny and her face is porcelain, and she looks delicate but also incredibly, wildly strong. Max wants to trap her in a birdcage. Max wants Liam to slam her into a wall.

“Like you are trying way too hard,” Max says, in lieu of any of that, because she has a reputation to upkeep. Liam laughs, a little smaller than usual because she can’t exactly inhale fully, but Max bathes in it anyway.

“Alright,” Liam says teasingly, “But it’s your turn now.” Max does groan this time, as Liam insists on Max shutting her eyes for the surprise of it all.

“You’re very lucky, Max,” Liam says, as she wrestles Max’s tee over her head, “You are very easy to make look polished, you just never try. Tom Ford and Gucci’s people are also much easier to deal with than Paulo’s, but I suppose that’s the issue with talking to bridal designers. So entitled, really.” Max doesn’t catch any of that, so she just hums, lifting her legs as Liam slips her sweatpants off and slips more dressy, structured pants on. Max nearly trips over her, but Liam just giggles and leads Max’s hands to her bare shoulders which, okay, Max can be normal about that. Liam guides Max’s arms through the sleeves of a button up, which she buttons over Max’s chest, and then into a vest, and then into a suit jacket. Max, subconsciously, feels over the fabric, and it’s soft. Nice. Comfortable.

“Okay,” Liam says softly, “Makeup might be a lot to ask of you, so we won’t be doing it. You can look...” She drags Max across the room, where Max knows a mirror is, “Now.”

Max opens her eyes. 

It’s a nice suit. Velvet, Max thinks. It’s a dark, dark blue, and it’s all velvet, including the vest. The only non-velvet, non-blue item, is a pale, creamy button up. Max looks nice. She looks dressy, stylish, but she doesn’t look feminine. It’s a good feeling. Liam nudges the shoes into Max’s feet, and Max slips into them fairly easily.

“It’s based on the 96 Fall/Winter show suit,” Liam says, to fill the silence, “But, I mean, obviously we couldn’t do red. We can’t feed the Ferrari rumors, after all, so Lenora asked for them to make it in blue, or at least direct us to something similar. They made it for us, though. Thank God for money and persuasive stylists, I guess.” Max nods, before realizing she should say something.

“I like it.” Max swallows, because she doesn’t quite know how to make it mean more. Liam seems to get it though, leaning to kiss Max’s neck. She leaves a bit of lip gloss, but neither of them move to wipe it off. They stare into the mirror for a bit, silently, but Liam blinks out of it eventually, moving her hand over Max’s throat. Max swallows.

“You need something here,” Liam says, and Max chokes down her natural response of your hand would be great, because, well— Time and place. Maybe later. Liam flutters to her jewelry, tossing a couple thick gold pieces at Max, vintage watches repurposed into necklaces. “Pick one of those,” Liam says absentmindedly, before she amends, “Pick a good one of those.” Max picks an entirely gold one, and Liam hums approvingly, as she piles her own hands with layers of gold rings, wrapping gold wire around her finger up to her wrist in a faux-bangle stack. Liam goes between two identical smelling perfumes, spends at least fifteen minutes choosing between four also identical red leather bags, and then throws on something that looks a bit like a fitted sheet and a comforter mixed together as a shawl/scarf/some-other-fucking-thing.

“You ready?” She asks Max, like she wasn’t the one taking hours. Max smiles.

“Course,” She says, and she means it, and they both rush out into the elevator and into the private garage, in an effort to not be seen before the runway. It’s fun, if an FIA event could ever be fun. Max supposes that Liam makes things fun.

The End of 2024 Upcoming Sapphic Games Guide

As we close the year it’s time to look ahead at what sapphic games might be coming up in the future. I won’t be repeating any games on any previous lists for saving space, maybe I’ll do an update list too to talk about games still not out but that have new info or something but for now do refer to the older lists for lots more upcoming sapphic games I am looking far ahead so none of these lists have 100% of their games out. These games will range from 2025 to gets canceled and never released but be sure to keep your eyes on these projects. I do a ton of research watching tons of indie showcases, following lots of accounts, doing lots of searching, asking devs questions, listening to podcasts, watching trailers, playing demos, and more. I put things that just have a vibe that I Think might pay off in a possible section and I tend to have a pretty good hit rate although sometimes I am coping. 

Before we get into the list proper a games place on the list is not a judgment on the game or the games quality of writing for the queerness, I literally at most have played a demo of any of these games because their upcoming games. If a game is in Make Your Own Gay then it simply means that the Sapphic Content is optional in the game or at least appears to be. A game might have more to it then narrative gameplay but I’ve not seen it so it’s in narrative games. A game being in the possible list might be the most gay game here and just not advertised their sapphicness at all, at least not that I’ve seen. I I am simply working with what I got as I try and find the most sapphic goodness for everyone to enjoy. A game being on this list is also not an endorsement by me personally, IDK anything about these devs or anything like that, I am researching if girls might do a little kiss or not. The Songbird Guild

A mix of visual novel and JRPG The Songbird Guild is explicitly a yuri game focused on our two sapphic magical girl leads in a world where magical girls need to make cash money. Our protagonist is trying to get employed but struggling to find work. She runs into another girl on a promising lead for a job and the two get intertwined.

Dungeon Gals 

A sapphic triad platformer adventure Dungeon Gals where you solve puzzles together and use your abilities to keep moving forward. The girlfriends chat with each other as they go through adventures and it's extremely cute. We got a diverse range of sapphic identity in the trio and I look forward to seeing what the rest of the cast looks like too. The game pulls some inspo from sonic given it was displayed at SAGE this year which is great for any sapphic sonic fans.

Quantum Witch

A little platformer about Ren a little lesbian in a little lesbian commune of witches with her little lesbain wife in her little lesbian life. The game calls itself a PLOTformer given it’s extremely narrative focused for a platformer, the same starts simple with a lost flock but then you end up in Multiversal shenanigans, what to find and get back to your wife and have to make important choices that will effect your friends and loved ones lives. 

They Speak From The Abyss Zenith

They speak from the abyss has you playing in a horror dungeon crawler as a sapphic woman who just moved somewhere new with her partner and shit gets horribly fucked for her.  It's spooky, scary, and it might just fill an itch for fans of Signals who are looking for their next dose of sapphic horror gaming. [I believe They Speak from the Abyss core game will also be Sapphic]

Narrative

The Mysterious Thief Forget Me Not

A yuri visual novel with two different women you can romance, you play as a phantom thief making a name for herself and slowly falling for two different women. How the story will take shape, I’m not sure but it’s an explicitly lesbian visual novel with a fun art style and a fun concept. This is one to keep your eyes on for sure. 

DELIRIA

You play as one of 4 characters each representing a different letter, L, G, B. or T heading to a special bar called DELIRIA. This game bills itself as a musical Visual Novel so get ready for some fun tracks and a lot of queerness. Obviously L and B both are likely to give us some kind of sapphic content and I have no idea if T will or not but it’ll be an interesting time for anyone who’s looking to hop into a bar and maybe discover their true self. 

Distant Oceanic Getaway

This is a sapphic dating sim where you play as a girl going on an Ocean Getaway cruise and have beautiful women to date. Be a little lesbian and court one of 6 women. You have some mild character customization in the game allowing you to chose pronouns and a feminine voice or gender neutral voice intending to represent all forms of sapphics which is really nice for a lesbian centered VN. 

Red Rebellion

A sapphic classical crossover Red Riding Hood X Robinhood takes us into a world full of lesbian couples and rebellion. This is a mostly linear game with some outfits to wear and 2 endings. Seems like a fun dramatic romantic yuri visual novel.

Let's Seduce the Heroine!

An Isekai similar to the likes of many we’ve been seeing with a focus on the villainess. This time being Isekaied into the Villainess and our protagonist feeling she must seduce the games Heroine if she is to survive. Our protagonist does seem to be sapphic to begin with being said to have been trying to reach the games hidden yuri route before she was Isekaied.  This game has a cool focus on your seduction style where you can take forceful, passive, or a mixture of both approaches and that shaping the ending of the game so it goes beyond just making the right choices for a romance. 

The Vampire Bride: The Novel Game

During the Meiji era girls in military uniforms [the page insists this is important] who are paired by vampire and human work together for some conflict that they use weapons that are sometimes not from the Meji era. This is a yuri visual novel 100% and it seems like there will be multiple pairings of vampires X humans to follow over the course of the story. 

Christine's Care

Recently kickstartered game and a rare inclusion of Sapphic Polyamory as one of the possible routes in the game.  Christine’s care has you take on the role of Christine who had a recent break up with her boyfriend and has taken a new job in a new city as a nurse. She gets assigned to take care of a hot girl who is paralyzed from the waste down and a potential romance can form. However, she also meets a kinky D/S couple during her time in the new city and starts to get drawn into it with a complex set of feelings coming in as one of the two lovers starts to really like Christine. It seems like a messy sapphic romance story with a few options of how things can go. 

Make Your Own Gay

Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX

This is like a ultimate addition of Shovel Knight so more or less this experience is already open for you. However, this game does have the potential to add the “Body Swap” mode to the other campaigns and if it does it will be able to make a bit more sapphic stuff given you could also make the Plague Knight Campaign gay and not just the main one. 

A Good Night's Rest

A tactical RPG with music from iconic sapphic trans legend Left At London. This games all about mental health exploring that theme through a different lens then the mental health platformers we’ve seen or horror games. This game lets you build relationships with new friends and presumably have them come into your nightmares to help you overcome them and get better sleep. 

Date Everything 

Look at something and it turns into a person, a person you can date from you UI to your toilet everything can become a datable person.  The game is aiming to be silly and funny but hopefully they'll be a lot of fun romance to be had in earnest as well, it seems like a real sweet time.

My Time at Evershine   

The next game in the my time series so we already know the formula, pick a gender, do a farm, kiss people regardless of gender but the marketing basically is only going to show MF couples, you know the classic farming sim experience. The game is attempting to do a lot of little modernization and updates to the graphics to push their style further.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma 

This is a really beautiful looking japanese culture inspired farming sim and the newest entry in the Rune Factory series. This is a pick one of two characters game, the other character ending up another romanceable character [and being a guy for our purposes since we’re concerned with sapphic content so will be playing the girl] and then romance anyone regardless of gender. In this game we’ll be able to date goddesses for our sapphic goodness and take them on adventures with us. 

Artisan Story

A monster ranching focused farm sim, it appears to fill in the classic formula of pick a gender and then date anyone of any gender. You can go out and tame monsters in the wild then raise them up using all the yummy food and stuff you make on the farm. it seems like it does a lot of fun little things with the farming sim and that it'll end up being a stand out farming game.

Tales of Seikyu

Like Guardians of Azuma this is a japanese culture inspired farming sim but unlike runefactory this game isn’t bound to series conventions and is doing it’s own things in the farming genre. 

Thieves Of Dingirra

A fantasy RPG where you pick your gender and have 6 companions who are all presumably also romance options giving 3 of both of the bundled gender male/female combo you’ve heard so much about.  You can get your little adventure on as a master thief trying to step up a thieves guilt in Dingirra while getting up to romantic hijinks one assumes.

Dungeons & Furry

Dungeons and Furry’s isn’t the same that normally catches my eyes but i saw this game has a full lesbain mode you can toggle on and only have to experience lesbian content in this furry game. This goes so far as to change the gender of some characters like the above example werewolf has a male version or the genital's of characters like a dragon having a choice of either set up for a fun time. It has match 3 gameplay and you have a sexy good time.

Truer than You

You play as a girl who is an actor faking relationships with people to help them. This game boasts a more dynamic conversation system and has 3 different relationships that can go somewhere it seems. They say the same has a queer friendly cast that of characters and relationship types so I will take that as confirmation of at least one F/F ending. 

Scholomatch

A match 3 dating sim game in a polyamarous normative school and one of the games I am most excited about for next year. Your one of the few human students at a magic college where the students all teach each other spells. You learn from other students new spells which impact your match 3 gameplay and get to build relationships with them romantic or platonic. It’s a simple little cozy nice time but it’s not sexless unlike a lot of other cozy games with there actually being some sexual desire and stuff if you opt into it. It’s not like full on smut or anything but the sexual part of many relationships is on display here as one might expect in a college full of students with no supervision. 

Progress Orders

Another farming sim but this time focused on Dungeon Crawling JRPG elements to stand out from the crowd. You can choose between being a guy or a girl and date anyone regardless of gender for the full player sexual experience.  The girls designs are ummm you know ummm well everyone has their own personal taste but I am sure the fine folks as Bushiroad noted gambling company will kill it with this game.

Sugardew Island 

Another farming sim but this games gimmick is that you run a farm shop and a focus on being totally stress free with no in game time. This cutest game seems to be a game that just ignores your gender probably they/theming you and has more fantastical dating partners. 

Wylde Society So this is not confirmed but when it’s basically a lock there is no reason to have it in decent potential. Wyld Society is a Prequel game to Wylde Flowers and like this game you take the role of a woman and it’s a life sim game where I think like it’s previous game is safe to assume there will be romance in. Unlike other life/farm sims though the Wylde series has a preset character you play as in this game we get the lovely addition of a black woman as protagonist which is rare in gaming in general and in the sapphic game space that I am following here. This game is a period piece but it’s set in a place for outcasts and there is some monster people so I expect the queerness will still be here. It seems like it may drop it's farm trappings in favor of boarding school management as the core feature but we currently know very little. I would say this is a series that I would hardly even put in the make your own gay because the queerness in the last game is more explicit given your locked in protagonist means they can write a bisexual woman as our lead and have the women you can romance.  I could be wrong, she could not have any romance at all, we could get ace/aro rep, she could be a lesbian and it should be in Adventure Lesbians, I’m not totally sure but I wanted to cover this now cuz it feels very likely that this is where it goes beyond the normal decent potential contenders. 

CraftCraft: Fantasy Merchant Simulator

A fully voice acted game where you play a crafts person. It has a pretty fun character creator and boasts romance as once of the core parts of it's cozy experience. This game feels like a really great cozy time building stuff with a cute pet and a nice little community vibe where our choices should matter to the world.

Wish Upon A Lama 

This game invokes our modern indie farming sim but this game is only about the animal breeding and raising elements rather then the full farm experience. It’s utterly loaded with characters you can adopt the animals you raise out to and some of which you can give a lil kiss to maybe get married. There is 20 characters to romance but not all are revealed for me to do a gender break down. I can say that the game is far more involved with the players family then these normally are. Multiple of your family lives in town and your parents do write for you so if these cozy games are an escape from family for you, you may not like this experience.

Magical Warrior Diamond Heart

A magical girl visual novel, I’ve been following this game for a long time on Itch.io but it’s coming to steam in a full released version and lets you take the role of a magical girl and gives you a few romance options which include a sapphic option.  They are always talking about DLC routes too which would add 3 more sapphic routes to the game. I believe the core game is intended to be F2P and the DLC is how the creator intends to monetize it so not really bonus paywalling more sapphic content as much as charging for the game finally for that. We'll see how it plays out on release but that's my current understanding. It seems like a cute magical girl story and it has some nice dress designs.

Paralives 

A sims like game where you make characters, put them in the world and can have them form relationships. I don’t know if you’ll be able to explicitly set sexualities and trans status and stuff like you can in Sims 4 which is F2P so probably should be the standard for this kind of games queer features there is romance elements and they don’t appear to be gender gated so if you're looking for something like the sims but probably without 1000 paid expansions then this might be the item to make your own little gay dollhouses. 

Velvet Bite: Softly, with Teeth A vampire dating sim, 6 romance options 3 men and 3 women where you play as human girl who was thrown into a Halloween party full of vampires. Who will chomp on you and will you fall in love too?

Decent Potential

To get this to yall just a little bit faster I decided unlike other decent potential sectionsnwhat I am going To do is extremely brief no images just quick as short as I can explain lines on these and if they show queer content later they can be featured on a future list in the actual sections. 

The Last Rose: You play as a girl, it’s marked as LGBT, They say there is one romantic ending so one assumes it’s sapphic but you never know. 

Sibel's Journey: Sibel's Journey is a game focused on the queer community, you play as Sibel who is exploring gender identity and sexuality and stuff. The game uses she/her to describe Sibel so I assume it’s got some sapphic stuff. 

Nivalis: This is like a 99% chance of being gay being a life sim with romance but we don’t know if you can do character creation or be gay but it’s literally cyberpunk life sim no shot you can’t be. Alabaster Dawn: Woman protag RPG and it just has a vibe but I’d say this is less likely.

WanderStop: It’s got like cozy game vibes and you play as a woman, I feel like there is a shot.  Reign Breaker: Buff woman, short hair, punky, seems gay to me.  Project Type N: It’s like all girls but it’s megaman, that’s gotta be gay right? 

MIGHTREYA: Honestly just a vibe 

Kernel Hearts: There is romance in the game and most the characters are women but nothing indicates women will be able to romance each other so far we've seen MF. 

All WIll Rise: This game is super early in development but is by the studio that made thirsty suitors And I think the main characters a woman so I think it's possible.  

Stratagem Lost: This is a Fire Emblem Like game with some systems in common it seems like you'll be able to pair up characters in some ways. 

DeathTower: Cyberpunk big cast SRPG to me screams there will be some kind of sapphic rep but there is just nothing to confirm. 

Exodus: It's inspired by mass effects with companions I kinda doubt it won't It feels pretty safe.  

Slight Of Hand: Woman noir detective screams lesbian to me. 

Demon Tides: It's a vibe, girl protag and a vibe. 

Incolatus: Don't Stop, Girlypop!: it's listed as LGBT and there is fairies and stuff and men aren't girlypop so ya know. 

Split Fiction: So it's about two girls forming a relationship together through each others creatives vision it be a lock but the main girls are named after the directors daughters sooo. 

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet: The main woman is a butch space lady and it's from the last of us people sadly it's from the last of us people. 

Mansion of Memories: A furry game with a murder mystery vibe, I think you can play as a woman

Cyber Paradise: This game has you playing as a woman and I think it was in some LGBT games event. IDK I think it’s there. 

For these final games they all are here for the very same reason and that's becuase they were in seasons of pride midboss steam event which is explicitly for queer games. They feature a woman protag so while it might be a bi MF game, a trans game, a ace game, am aro game or something there is a chance any or all of these games for the lesbians in the.

Sentinels Of the Multiverse is a card game with a fictional history created by two cis het white men who want to be progressive but are also nerdy white dudes who work at a tabletop company who clearly don’t have the best politics. There is some gay heroes in this games lore but you likely won’t be getting much gay content in this game. Maybe the campaign mode will provide more gay story telling but nothing has been confirmed so for now like the original version of the game I will say A Lesbian Exists and some other gays too.

Spill the Beans

This game I don’t know how much you can direct relationships or not in them but two of the women are ex girlfriends with one another. You are trying to steal the crabby patty secret formula as plankton…no I’m being corrected your trying to steal a coffee secret recipe as a person of whatever gender you want to be infiltrating the coffee shop as a new worker. You try to manipulate people to pin the crime on someone else after stealing it and get away with the formula. I think the exes can end up back together and I don’t know if there “lesbians” or some other flavor of sapphic but I’d say it doesn’t seem to be the point of the game and it’s unavoidable so it’s not really a make your own gay it’s just there are some gay NPCs.

samarina magical girl headcanons?

I have a few headcanons so far and the whole plot is kinda done! Uhh sorry this is a bit of a rant in advance! Feel free to just skip to the headcanons, the order doesn't matter too much (also mild spoilers for the canon gamee!!)

Backstory:

So this takes place sometime in the early 2000s, not modern but also not the canon 1940s time era. The backstories are pretty much the same except the Ninth Circle has an even sharper eye on Samarie. At some point Marina catches Samarie stalking her and gives her a talking to. But, after several apologies and begging from Samarie, Marina decided to get to know her a lil better. They slowly become friends overtime until some plot stuff happens and they die. I don't have a solid idea yet but I was thinking what if the Ninth Circle was more of a lab than a "school". Still a cult but y'know the vibes are a bit different. They catch the two running away and threaten to shoot Marina if she doesn't turn Samarie back in. Marina refuses, they shoot, Samarie takes the shot for her but unfortunately they just shoot Marina anyways afterwards.

Somewhat luckily Samarie was close enough with the Gods to make some sorta deal with Rher specifically (for arguments sake let's pretend in this au Rher is still semi close with humans). Marina and her would be allowed to live and be resurrected, in exchange for.. Well idk yet. I was thinking something to do with Moonscorching. Maybe every night they turn, or every few days, full moon, you know something like that.

So they're brought back to life, but both have MUCH stronger magic. Not only that but Samarie doesn't feel as sick as she used to be. The two later on realize they're stereotypical ✨️magical girls✨️ and fight against "villains" ig. The villains would be actual enemies from the games. Uhh I might add other characters to this au later on, but for now it's just my own little corny ship indulgent au so yeah!

Actual Headcanons:

Samarie uses a Star themed staff while Marina uses a Moon themed staff. I just thought it fit their souls aesthetic wise!

Samarie has extremely powerful magic, but is a terrible fighter. She's clumsy, messy, and a nervous wreck. Marina is a bit weaker magic-wise, but is wayy better in combat. She's more confident, focused, and skilled.

I think it'd be funny as shit to make Black Kalev their little sidekick.

They're constantly saving eachother. Usually it's Marina saving Samarie, but if Marina is in danger Samarie fucking kicks ass. She's still a crazy girl after all.

They have more stereotypical sparkly magic cuz.. Well magical girl. But they can still use other canon spells. It's just less convenient.

Their staffs will transform when they do. When they're not in their combat fits the staffs both turn into crystals. Both wear them around their necks like necklaces.

They can't use the gifted magic without the staffs. Basically they're witches in a way.

They do flirt on the battlefield cuz that's romantic imo. It's more Marina flirting and Samarie being a gay mess but that still counts!

In this au they're not dating (yet). Samarie obviously has a massive crush (or obsession) with Marina, and again after becoming friends Marina develops a crush back on her.

This has nothing, and I mean NOTHING to do with the au, Samarie has autism. I didn't know where else I'd share that hc so taking my chance rn.

Samarie still isn't used to the outfit change. Especially Marina's outfit (she is a lesbian disaster).

They rest and cuddle together after long battles. It'd be cute okay?

Hi, big fan of your fics. I've just found your Tumblr and binged everything Icemav-related. When reading about Icemav's political beliefs, I've gotten curious. Does Bradley share the same political beliefs as Ice (and Mav)? Does being raised by them or them pulling his papers influence how he votes? Or there are other factors in the play (e.g. generations, social media)? How about Jake and the other Daggers? How does this young generation of the Navy perceive politics (elections, gender, etc.)? My apologies for bombarding you with questions. But as a non-American, American politics have always been something we must pay attention to. I've seen many interesting interpretations on Tumblr but it feels more or less wistful than realistic, but I might be wrong (again not an American) so I would love to see your perspective on this. ice: reagan democrat. “educated moderate” who was more right-leaning pre-9/11. now just a regular ol liberal (did you SEE those gay little round glasses in tgm? no way this guy isn’t a straight-up lib) with absolutely no strong feelings about most domestic politics besides “fascism bad”. Has some foreign policy opinions that areeeee questionable at best, like all members of the military elite (hangman voice: DO NOT ASK ICEMAN ABOUT CHINA. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE). foreign policy neoliberal favoring the dovish side of the spectrum. A force conservator (“let’s save our military assets [read: my boyfriend maverick 🥺] for when we really need them, not for any old conflict. the deterring specter of the American war machine should outweigh the risk of underperforming”). He’s in favor of marriage equality of course, but treats it like a privilege and not a right. would be sad/upset if it got repealed but wouldn’t necessarily fight for it. “well at least my marriage will always be legal in california so i just won’t leave, problem solved.” Normie median Biden voter.

Bradley & ice/mav disagree on the VISIBILITY of politics. And they believe their relationship IS a political statement, whereas Bradley would rather encourage them to treat their relationship like, I don’t know, a relationship that has a right to exist independent of politics!

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon | S1E1 Thoughts

Okay I am gonna list all my positive and negative thoughts regarding each episode (I know no one asked but I feel like this is the only thing I am somewhat “qualified” to talk about ad nauseam on here).

Positive Thoughts

Norman’s acting is so good like?? Listen we all know he’s not Laurence Olivier and he doesn’t claim to be but goddamnit he nails the subtleties of Daryl’s expressions and conveys his emotions really well I think! I’m very impressed

Obviously the cinematography, setting, and aesthetics are really cool. It’s both gritty but pretty!! I love the gothic architecture and how OLD everything looks, which is only exacerbated by the apocalyptic feel

Everyone in the cast is so good in terms of acting (well, I mean… Laurent is certainly there but he’s a child so we’ll be lenient)

The walkers are great as usual. I love the burners. Really interesting! I’m kind of wondering if the “experiments” the people on the ship refer to relate to the burners? Maybe they’re making them like that idk.

I love the religious imagery. We have had cults and stuff in TWDU before but I don’t think we’ve had this Catholic vibe going on. I’m a sucker for anything nun related because I have a weird infatuation with them, so I’m all for it.

DARYL BATHTUB SCENE??? They put that in for the girls and the gays and we are LIVING for it

Daryl is so reminiscent of early seasons TWD era with his witty lines and snark remarks. I feel like we don’t get to see this side of Daryl very often anymore, but now that he has his own show and is THE main character, we get to see those sides that have been neglected again. I also love how much he sort of scoffs at the nuns and their religion. Atheist Daryl we love to see it

It’s cool seeing people in France dealing with the same things our characters have dealt with since the beginning. It’s interesting to see these new parts of the world in this universe for sure

Negative Thoughts:

Okay. I have some very petty/subjective critiques. I realize a lot of you guys probably disagree with me but that’s okay! Don’t read my negative thoughts if you aren’t prepared to be annoyed with me lol. Once again, a lot of these are super petty/nitpicky

First thing that bothers me is that Daryl says he is from the Commonwealth. No. He is from Alexandria, thank you very much. Well, at least he should be. He should’ve been living at Alexandria imo but the finale didn’t really make it explicitly clear where he was living in that year time jump. Basically I just hate the Commonwealth because I have zero attachment to it and it’s just a stupid ass place that I wanna forget about

Daryl seeing Carol in his haze 🙄 … just annoys me solely because Carol annoys me. They could’ve just shown Judith because that would’ve made more sense to me. But don’t get me started, I don’t even want Carol in season 2. Anyway.

Laurent isn’t terrible but he’s kind of annoying in that “I’m so smart I know everything” way. Just very annoying smart kid at school who everyone hated vibes. Plus I just don’t think it’s realistic that he would be THAT smart just from being raised in a convent of nuns

I also fail to understand what they’re doing with Laurent. Is he just some kid that the nuns think is the messiah or is he ACTUALLY the messiah? Like are they gonna throw in a whole other supernatural religious element? Because Laurent conveniently knows Judith’s line from the finale “you deserve a happy ending too.” Right down to the letter. I find it cheesy as hell because I’m so tired of these blatant in your face parallels that are trying to be clever, which always involve children too like we get it children are basically the duck tape of TWDU. Don’t know what to do for this plot? Throw some kids in there!

Neither Positive nor Negative Thoughts:

I don’t trust the nuns. I think they’re gonna use Daryl to get what they want and they don’t really care about getting him home. Worse, I think it could be possible that Isabelle won’t let him get home. She already tried to keep him from using the radio. I’m not saying I hate her character or anything (I actually like her so far… as long as she stays friendly and not… overly friendly), I just think she’s way too invested in this “messiah” stuff to actually care about Daryl so I fear she will take advantage of him. We shall see.

She's an EMT, her husband, a cop, dies and she moves in with her two friends (living together cause they're already in Gay) to help with her two daughters while she grieves

And she falls for Sayuri and Wakaba too

At this time, Sae is 16, Makoto 6, Yusuke 5, and Futaba 4. Makoto is so excited to be a big sister, and holds her little siblings' hands while walking to school. Like. She warms up to this new situation real fast

Sae and Makoto share one room at first, then when Sae moves out at 19, Makoto and Yusuke share. Futaba and Yusuke were sharing before, and Futaba swaps out with Makoto.

Their moms are in the Master, and there's three other rooms. Originally Yusuke and Futaba were in the biggest, room A, and Makoto and Sae in the second largest, room B. Futaba takes the smallest, C, so they turn room B into a sort of play room slash games room

Eventually they'd take in an angsty 13 year old Goro, who gets the smallest room, Futaba moving into the room with the other two. It's slightly crowded, but they only sleep in there with the games room existing

So, Sojiro is in this! He's not close to Wakaba, they'll become friends again when their kids meet in high school, but he's a registered foster. He goes through a few short placements, then a child involved in a neglect case enters his care

Haru is 8 when he gets her, and lets just say it's a foster fail, that's her dad now. He takes her to visit her mom's grave every month, keeps her away from media and such because that cause was all over the news, and. They're a good fit

Then, he gets his second foster fail, another neglect kid, Akira at age 12. The kids each have their own small rooms, it's not a big house they have, and just. Sumire and Kasumi lose their parents in a car crash and live with Zenkichi so they'd move to Tokyo before they start high school, and that's how they're in there. Also, Sophia?? Human?? Akane has three big sisters now she's never lonely

Things I Love About the Shitty Live Action Resident Evil Movies

So, it was my birthday recently and my roommates asked if I wanted to do anything fun. My response, of course, was to suggest getting drunk and watching the live action Resident Evil movies and like, damn, I love those stupid ass movies so much. So I wanted to make a really dumb (and lengthy) post about the goofy things I like, whether for legit or meme reasons.

Y'all, I know they're bad, that is, in fact, why I love them.

1 - The opening is genuinely kinda freaky, like, the elevator scene? Oof, well done suspense

2 - Michelle Rodriguez. That's it, that's the post.

3- The LASER ROOM - so iconic they used it in the games. The first movie came out in 2002, RE4 then used the laser room in 2005, like, y'all, they took that from the goddamn movie, that's how much of a vibe it was

(And honestly, just the Red Queen in general, what an absolute icon, love that her appearance changes in every movie she's in)

4 - Alice is the most fanfic Mary Sue character I've perhaps ever seen on-screen, and I love that for her. Look at her kicking this zombie dog in the face, it's hilarious

5 - Pretty game-accurate costuming? I can dig it

6 - They're gay, your honor

7 - Bad CGI on the Licker, I would expect nothing less

8 - Alice is at her most powerful when she finds a white bathrobe just lying around somewhere

9 - Raccoon City gets destroyed in the course of, like, a day if I'm understanding the timeline right. Like, first infection to nuking the city seems to be about 24 hours. Incredible.

10 - Leon fucking wishes he was Alice, miss ma'am out here driving motorcycles into buildings and then launching them at a monster just to shoot it and blow it up.

12 - "GTA MOTHERFUCKER" - LJ, before running over a zombie

14 - Keeping with RE tradition, the helicopter almost always crashes.

15 - They just decided, fuck it, let's give Alice superpowers. Also the stupid Umbrella eyes, literally whenever they come up.

16 - The third movie is just Mad Max and Fallout: New Vegas merged together. Also the way they say the whole earth withered and died but later movies very clearly show flora still alive

17 - Why is Jorah Mormont from Game of Thrones here? WHY IS JOHNNY CAGE FROM MORTAL KOMBAT 1995 HERE???

Also why does Wesker look a little like Eminem to me in the third movie?

18 - The amount of just, like, "hey, this monster/character was in the games, let's just put them in the movie anywhere!"

19 - Carlos gets one of the only satisfying death scenes for a named character from the games. And by that I mean he gets one of the only on-screen death scenes for a named character from the games. Slay, king.

20 - Why does the Tyrant look like that?

21 - The army of Alice clones were blonde originally, but all went out and dyed their hair together between movies and I think that's cute.

22 - The timeline is so fucked up, I don't think they even knew how long was supposed to pass between the movies

23 - The way they shoehorned Chris in so bad that, as a kid, I thought he had no importance and they just wanted to give Claire a character to help her with her amnesia (also, Claire having amnesia). The Redfields do get to shoot the shit out of Wesker at the end though, good for them.

24 - THEY'RE GAY, YOUR HONOR

25 - The Executioner from RE5 just like, is in Los Angeles for some reason?

26 - This shot of Wesker.

27 - Wesker takes Alice's powers away in the beginning of the 4th movie, then at the end of the 5th movie he reinfects her with the T-Virus so she can be a superhuman again and just like, bud, you're wildin'. Also it's mentioned in the 3rd movie that Alice's blood could be the cure, and that she could synthesize it once the Tyrant is dealt with? But she doesn't? She just takes the clones of her in the facility instead of using the equipment to make a cure? I know they cure it in the last movie but like, girlie, you could have tried earlier idk. Fascinating.

28 - The opening credits scene for the 5th movie is actually pretty cool

29 - The rest of the fifth movie . . . whatever those writers were smoking, I want some. I know there's literally an Umbrella base in Antarctica in the game but like, idk, having an underwater base where you have multiple city simulations running for BOW production is so funny to me. They've got clones of Carlos and the whole team from the first movie, a random child Alice adopts, Las Plagas lads on motorcycles, more Executioners, Barry (oh, hi Barry!) and damn I love every terrible minute of it.

31 - Li Bingbing as Ada, my beloved

32 - Whatever the hell this fight scene is (I am obsessed with it). The sapphic energy of Jill v Alice. Las Plagas giving you instant superpowers. Michelle Rodriguez beating the shit out of Leon Kennedy (mans draws his knife and immediately gets disarmed, Krauser would be so disappointed). Ada just snoozing in the snow the whole time. Cinema.

The music kinda slaps though.

The second half of this where Michelle gets clocked in the face with a fire extinguisher and just looks offended? Immaculate.

33 - Wesker saying that he, Alice, Jill, Leon and Ada are the last hope for humanity from the roof of the White House. What a team.

34 - AND THEN LEON, ADA AND JILL FUCKING DIE OFF SCREEN BETWEEN MOVIES ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Peak writing right there.

35 - I have never seen the Final Chapter, but I do know that Claire is the only (known) surviving original RE character. Chris is MIA and everyone else is dead. The lesbians win again.

36 - Also there's a character named K-Mart. No notes.

37 - WESKER GETS KILLED BY A DOOR LMFAO

I cannot say I would recommend these movies without the consumption of alcohol involved. Once that's in the mix? They're a great time.

You know I'm still in denial about the ending of Voltron Allura should have lived, Lotor should have been a good guy, Lance and Keith should have ended up together.

Like come on Allura should have had the chance to be queen and rule New Altea she should have have the chance to enjoy the universe that she helped save.

Lotor should have been a good guy. Like he should have been the embodiment of what the Galra were before their Emperor and empress where corrupted. And having him and Allura be friends or even romantic partners would have been a symbol of unity to the rest of the universe. Like he defeated his father and took over the empire and together with the last of the Alteans he was righting the wrongs done by his father.

And come on Keith and Lance had the classic rivals to friends trope it wouldn't have been difficult to and one more step and make it rivals to friends to lovers. They dropped the ball with this one. I read somewhere that the show gave us a gay character but they made the wrong character gay, meaning that a lot of people would have been ok with Shiro being straight (and with Allura) and Keith being gay (with BI Lance).

And what the hell did they do to Lance!?!? Like someone who was so full of life and passion was just a shell of a person by the end of it? No way I absolutely hate what they did to him. He loved space, loved to explore and yea he missed his home and family but to make him be basically grounded and rarely leave the planet after everything he did to save the universe was just wrong.

I like that Shiro was gay it was different but did they have to make him lose Adam before he got a chance to see him again? Like that's fucked up. The writers kept using Shiro as a punching bag in this series. Also side note I would have been ok with Shiro and Allura getting together like they had the whole parental vibe to them and Shiro being the black lion and Allura bonding with the white lion it made sense that they would have been a good pair. But also I kinda liked the Shiro and Matt Holt ship. Like the fact that Shiro did everything he could to keep Matt safe was so sweet I wouldn't have minded if the ended up together.

Idk that's just my rant I watched the show in March of 2020 so I was not a part of the fandom while the show was on air so I wasn't around for the craziness of the shipping. I heard it was bad that a lot of fans left the fandom because of how toxic it was.

How I feel about this character

Love Jacob. He's got such a sweet heart, kept behind so many protective walls that he's had to build over so many painful years, but he's never been able to quiet it entirely. He cares so much more than he lets on, and is definitely the type of character to see someone in mortal peril, say to themselves, "I'm gonna risk my life for that idiot aren't I?" and not even second guess it. He's a trauma boy for sure, and I love all the little moments where the sun peeks through the clouds and we get to see his easygoing side.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Devinder is such a fun foil to him, I fell for them so fast. Dev is actively excited to be in a vampire apocalypse, whereas Jacob is in a living nightmare. They both help each other see things from the other perspective! My ideal vibe for them is like, heart wrenchingly romantic, bc I think Jacob deserves to be with someone who sees him clearly and doesn't want him to be any different <3

My non-romantic OTP for this character

I mean!! The Raven! He's friends with the gals for life, for sure, but that Raven's part of him, whether he likes it or not :)

My unpopular opinion about this character

I'm not sure there are enough opinions in this fandom for anything I say to be considered popular or unpopular 😅 I hold that the bandanas in his back pocket are canonically gay flagging, but everyone I talk to doesn't push back on that so idk xD

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Well I actually have yet to finish the whole game (been saving the ending), so I'm not sure what will be included! I wish there was more of a resolution between him and Miss Whisper, and I wish the other heroes got 'personal' big bads, as well.

OUGH okay so me, CL, and SL (CL's husband) went to Autoheart's first US tour :D

We had to wait in a p long line before the show, but we talk loud so some of the people behind us were laughing at the stuff we were saying n that's always fun :> the merch line was long as well, but I got 2 CDs and a shirt <3 (they didn't have the third CD there, but for some reason they had them at later concerts? I don't get that but I'm angy, I don't wanna pay like $22 shipping for a $13 CD ;0; )

Anyway the show started with the first opener, RAEGAN. She was p cool, her music was very punchy n we got to participate at one point n shout "FUCK RAEGAN" but like, there were a couple minors and a lot of nice people not entirely willing to yell that so it wasn't as loud as it could've been u,u

The second lady came up, Pidgeon Pit, and oh man her energy was amazing! She was all over the stage with her guitar, her songs were toothy and some political (in a good way) and she gave off hardcore big sister vibes, she was great :D she even had a moment of like, well for context Autoheart is popular with the gays bc it's a gay band (I know for sure the lead singer is gay but idk about the other two) so of course the queers were out in full force n the lead singer is a trans woman herself, so she gave a big shoutout to all the trans people in the audience (like me and some of the people to my right, who I made a bet with on Autoheart's opening song hehe) and it was nice to be in a room with so many people shouting for trans people instead of against them

OH BUT THE MAIN COURSE HOLY SHIT

Okay so I'll be using names; Jody is the lead singer, Simon is on keys, Barney is on guitar, and he's not a member of the band but Adam handled drums, he was fantastic <3

Anyway so they call come out on stage, Jody first, and he's got these genuine Gucci shades on that are so round and thick, it was so cute X3 he also had a suit jacket on that was a pinkish-reddish color over a black shirt, it was such a good look ;; Simon had jeans, a red Dickey's shirt, and a white short sleeve button up over that And Barney I believe had a graphic tee and jeans, but he also had a jean jacket on when we saw them after the show

Their first song is Lent bc of course it would be and everyone was singing along and like, god first of all, this is genuinely my favorite band ever of all time, I don't dislike a single one of their songs, I have them all saved to my Spotify, so you know I'm crazy about it, second I kinda face a lot of "oh that's what you're listening to?" (/neg) at home when I try to play Autoheart, and third I was with two of my favorite people in the world So believe me when I say I was FEELING it, being in a crowd of people who knew every word I knew, every vocal flourish in every word to the point the audience could all be heard doing the same vocal flourish from the base song that he did differently live, it fuckin got me man, I'd never felt so connected and part of something great like that ;0;

And of course the band is just going, they're playing banger after banger, Jody making these cute little smiles n doing these cute little dances and moves with his hands as he's singing, he was a joy to watch Barney was killing it on the guitar over there too, he was also doing backing vocals and he sounds so nice!! I'm not fully sure if he does backing vocals on all the songs or if it was just for live, but if it was just for live, then I hope they let him back up on more songs cause he was wonderful <3 Simon, oh man, don't even get me started, his work on the keyboard is part of why I fell in love with Autoheart in the first place, their first albums and EPs being FULL of those deep, punchy piano work, it's so good ;;;; oh and his tambourine work was great too, he was on that on the more lowkey songs And of course Adam was fantastic, filling the room with percussion when it calls for it omg dude was killer!

Oh oh and the LIGHTS oh man during "Time Machine", there's the line "voices/7 of them inside of me/each requiring autonomy" (referencing the 7 deadly sins) n when Jody got to that point, he'd do a Y pose, reaching his arms up as he's bathed in green light and subtle smoke, it was religious ;;;;

AND THE BEST PART IS WE GOT TO MEET THEM AFTERWARDS

Unfortunately we had to do it out on the back patio where the radio was turned up; I'm hard of hearing n they couldn't turn the radio down, so I could barely hear them ;-; But we got to meet them and get things signed and I got to tell them how much they all mean to me and I got to hug Jody ;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Last thing though, for those of you who know about me n CL's EW OCs known as the blormas, I imagine you're familiar with Joey. Ok final thoughts on Gundam Novels. Idk why ppl call them novelizations when it's a p different story lol. Lots of Tominoisms unsurprisingly.

Frau stays a Civilian! And presumably has pants. Garma has more narrative raison d'etre (er, to die ig) in this but he's still a bit character as he should be lol. Kai is less fun imo but apparently he gets laid more than anyone, good for him. Ages are a bit older, but sleggar is still younger than me lmao.

Low points: not a huge fan of what I assume is the translation lol. I assume the original has more dry humor, there's a bit abt Big Zam that was tainted (I assume) by this, as well as a lot of moments where the text vs subtext seem out of balance, rip. Scene by scene pacing is good but overall is sooo jumpy esp w the POV swaps and lore dumps. I like all the espionage but it's not presented in the most ideal way. Also the fuckinnnn pube amulets. Why.

??? Moments: Amuro and Char aren't as much of narrative foils, as this has some concepts that would go on to be used in Zeta such as their attempt at allyship. Baffling name choices. Lalah is a minor character! She's not even the most Lalah of a character narratively lol. Some transliterations are inconsistent which irks me. M'qve's biggest contribution to the story is calling Char a fuckboy lol. The ending has a very different vibe, despite both ending on the idea of desperate hope. The story itself is stunningly gender essentialist to the point it breaks its own verisimilitude wrt identity and eroticism, but simultaneously frames misogyny as bad. Let her cook.

High points: Char and Amuro both have sex multiple times with women and yet they seem just as gay. Phenomenal. Lots of detailed characterization thru snark, intimacy and lack there of, and of course Amuros insane diet my beloved. Give him his mocha mandarin coffee! Let him complain against warcrimes while eating strawberry shortcake! Delightful. It's such a good addition to any scene. I like the continuation of the water motif! Lalah's few scenes are spot on. The moment w the scars lives in my head rent free. Some of my fav characters were ones specific to this! How cool is it that Amuro interacts w a proto Reccoa? Also Bright is even easier to hate in this lolol. Genuinely impressed by some of the descriptions of how it feels to have a newtype flash, there's a lot going on conceptually wrt neurodivergency, personhood, autonomy, vulnerability. Its like an attempt to interrogate the BDSM concept of subspace thru more rational lenses like physics and psychology. They really can have sex fully clothed on opposite sides of a building huh.

A lot of the more infamous or contentious moments were spoiled for me but it's defs worth reading in context! It's not SO good I'd recommend it to a non fan but that's really not the audience to begin with hehe. Just make sure whatever format u do,,,, don't be like me and read it miniscule on ur phone. Save ur eyes.
