Announcing The Light at the End, a Fan Zine dedicated to Arkane Austin, in celebration of their amazing works over the years!

A farewell zine for Arkane Austin, celebrating Dishonored (2012), Prey (2017), and Redfall (2023) and their respective DLCs. The Austin team has been making incredible games for so long, and they deserve to be honored. This zine will be digital only, and completely free.

They released some of the alternative outfits that never made it into the game, and I am having some big feelings about it~ I also just really wanted to draw a cold raven

So happy to finally release my piece for The Light at the End! I wanted to honor Redfall for my submission, specifically the location of Dead Catch Records. Former Arkane Austin 2D/UI Artist Sadie Boyd did a lot of work on this location, in particular the album covers. I had a blast trying to recreate some of them for my piece!

I'm so sad that Redfall concept art creatures never made it to the actual game. They all look so neat! Not to mention gameplay difference which they could have brought to the game. Redfall is definetelly one of those game where you can see THE potential that sadly will forever be only on paper.

Also Im puttin them under the cut because of mild body horror.

We’re moving to a new timeline, in order to ensure this zine is the best it can be! We also want to give the community a chance to leave a parting message to the Arkane Austin team. This can be any kind of well wishes that fit the spirit of the zine.

You can fill out the submission form here! Please try to keep your messages to a maximum of 300 characters. The mod team reserves the right to filter out messages that are not on topic or in keeping with the spirit of the zine.

October 27th - Parting Messages Open November 3rd - Parting Messages Due November 17th - Final Cut-off for Art/Writing November 30th - Release Day!

Hello hello, to all interested participants in The Light at the End! This will be a Fan Zine dedicated to Arkane Austin, in celebration of Dishonored, Prey, & Redfall. There's one week left to apply to participate! Link to apply is here.

Our projected timeline is as follows:

June 28th - Applications Close (11:59pm EST) June 29th-July 1st - Participants Chosen, Acceptances Sent July 31st - First Check-In (Sketches, Drafts, relevant progress check) August 31st - Second Check-In (Mostly-completed work so the zine can be arranged) September 30th - Finished Pieces Due October 31st - Release Day!

One question we've gotten a lot is regarding Dishonored, so to clear it up here, this project will focus on the first game in the series only (Dishonored 2012 and its DLC). The Austin and Lyon teams collaborated on the whole series, but the spirit of this zine is more about the Austin team and their foundational work <3
