Before the violence and outbreak in Gaza, Youssef and his family enjoyed a peaceful life. Now, they are one of the many displaced families living in makeshift tents in Rafah.

I am a 33-year-old Moamen from Gaza. I stand before you as someone who is trying to support my family of 5: me, my wife and my three children, in the miserable conditions we live in after the occupation launched the war on Gaza. We were displaced from our home and it was completely destroyed. We now live in a tent. Due to the circumstances and the lack of income, we are unable to provide the necessary support such as food and drink due to the crazy rise in prices. Thus, my source of livelihood has been destroyed, in fact completely destroyed, as we are no longer allowed to work; and we expect to live in miserable conditions in tents. It is difficult for me to find the words to describe what we face every day on the street; without food, medicine or clean drinking water; with the oppression, helplessness, psychological pressures, doubts and daily trauma caused by everything around us and the inability to care for our loved ones. The fear of danger, illness and death never leaves us.

“Now I find myself in this difficult situation, and I humbly ask you to help me save the lives of my family, especially my infant, by getting us out of Gaza to Egypt and building a new life outside Gaza, or helping us get out of Gaza. My family was a beautiful, cheerful family that loved life and they love each other.

We have children are make fun and they the source of happiness for home

Until one day, the sounds of explosions overtook them. Days passed, and these days were very difficult for everyone in the family. Suddenly, my father fell ill, and it was determined that he was suffering with cancer, and needed surgery outside the Gaza Strip. But, because of the situation, he was unable to leave Gaza for treatment — eventually, due to lack of medical care and after suffering with his symptoms, he died. Five days after my father death, his children (my brothers- and sisters) were injured after their home was targeted. My brother suffered a double amputation of his feet and one hand, and his other siblings were injured as well, including a severe back injury.

Help For Fedel

Fedel has reached out to me asking that I share his story with you. Hoping to get the help he needs. Fedel, with his family, had been displaced 5 times during the genocide on gaza. Relocating each time in the hopes he would find a safer place to live. They moved back to their house they had before the war, hoping the same, that it was safe. But it was bombed by the occupation forces. Fedel luckily made it out with his life but he was heavily injured. Shrapnel from the bomb had lodged into his body. Knocked unconscious Fedel was taken to one of the few hospitals that still operate in Palestine. There they tried to remove the shrapnel, but the surgery was far to delicate and intensive. The healthcare system in Palestine has collapsed, making Fedels surgery impossible to do in Palestine.

Fedel has only one option, to try and leave Palestine to seek medical care in a country that has the capabilities to help him. This means evacuation from Gaza, which will cost 7,000 Euros. On top of the 3,000 Euros he will need for his surgery. I have seen dozens of Palestinian fundraisers and from that I know that 10,000 Euros is not a difficult task. More has been raised in a matter of days, or even hours. Fedels condition risks getting worse every day he is in Gaza. The conditions right now are hostile to anyone in poor health. More so for people like Fedel who have outright wounds from the occupation.

Donations to Fedel right now will be life saving. Because every Euro to Fedel is a step closer to evacuation, to medical care for his injuries. Every day for him is spent in pain, pain that could very well be cured if he got the funds to do so. Along with donating, you can share. Wither you can donate or not, actually, I heavily encourage you to share. This spreads Fedels story further and brings in a more consistent income. It makes sure that Fedel isn't forgotten. All your efforts for Palestine and Palestinians aren't in vain if you do not let them be. Support Palestinians no matter their story.
