im thinking about rewriting all of voltron and putting it on ao3
FIRST THINGS FIRST im not a writer but ill do my best like ill use proper grammar unlike now.
im making klance canon
rewriting the end
giving the characters more depth and development
making lotor good (i love him)
changing the way voltron looks like it deserves fingers
probably killing off different characters:)
spending a bit more time in the garrison before they leave
lmk what you would change!!!! and if you would read!!! and headcanons I should add!

Can you recommend three history books that you couldn't put down and would be good xmas gifts for a history nut? Doesn't need to be presidents just any history.
I could spend the entire holiday season debating which books to suggest, so I'm just going with the first three books that came to my mind when I considered which books I'd choose if I could magically read them for the very first time again. Anyone would has been following me for a while will have heard me recommend these before because they are among the very best books I've ever read:
•Crucible: The Long End of the Great War and the Birth of a New World, 1917-1924 by Charles Emmerson (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) It's difficult to describe this book in a way that illustrates how incredibly interesting and original it is. It's a look at the world as it came out of World War I and slowly tried to repair itself in the Great War's aftermath. But during that period, various personalities start appearing in the story like characters in a gripping novel. Those people end up being many of the leading figures of World War II and that becomes apparent as you read the book, as does the fact that the tense state that the world was in at the time wasn't a time of peace and reconstruction, but an incubation period for what would become an even more horrific world war that was the deadliest military conflict in the history of our species. Those leading characters in Crucible drive the story, not so much because of how extraordinary they became but because of how ordinary they were when they started. Emmerson tells these stories in an extremely creative way, and it makes the 739-page book fly by despite the fact that you will NOT want it to end. Without hesitation, I can confidently say that Crucible (which was published in 2019) is the single best book I've read in the past ten years.
•Rise and Kill First: The Secret History of Israel's Targeted Assassinations by Ronen Bergman (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) This doesn't mean that I'm giving my stamp of approval to Israel's long history of targeted assassinations and daring special operations. But this book is an excellent example of top-notch investigative reporting and war journalism by Ronen Bergman, who is still an immensely talented correspondent for the New York Times with deep connections throughout the Middle East. Some of the military and intelligence operations described in this book with shocking detail are absolutely mind-blowing and would seem too far-fetched if you saw them in a movie. Bergman's book gives the reader the perspective of being embedded with forces as they undertake these ridiculously dangerous missions.
•Raven Rock: The Story of the U.S. Government's Secret Plan to Save Itself -- While the Rest of Us Die by Garrett M. Graff (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) Speaking of journalists with remarkable connections, in Raven Rock Garrett Graff reveals aspects of the blueprints for America's continuity of government planning that have never been fully detailed. Beginning in the early days of the Cold War, Graff takes us through the creation of top-secret plans to keep the government functioning in case of all sorts of Doomsday scenarios. It's incredible to learn what would be prioritized (and how anything would still function) and where surviving members of the government (or their designated alternates -- which is an even crazier revelation) would run what was left of the United States in case of massive attacks that might decapitate vast sections of federal, state, or local governments. What should seem somewhat reassuring -- the fact that the government would continue to function and serve survivors, no matter what -- is frightening when Graff reveals systems that raise far more questions than it delivers answers. It even raises questions about aspects of the shadow federal government that existed during the Cold War (just in case). In some ways and for many reasons, the book is actually pretty frightening. (You'll probably start worrying about the records the U.S. Postal Service keeps about you considering all of the potential uses the government considered using it for in case of a widespread nuclear attack with massive numbers of casualties.) But it's also incredibly interesting and full of amazing details about secrets that I guarantee you'll want to share with people after you read the book. Raven Rock is right behind Crucible when it comes to the very best books of the past decade.

@sockdooe, I could genuinely write up multiple essays about how poorly a lot of the general relationship-building and maintaining is handled in this show.
There are some truly excellent, stand-out moments between the main cast and the aliens they encounter, like Shay and the Balmerans, and even Slav, and the main cast and the Holts, the Blades, and members of the Garrison.
Shiro and Pidge's older brother-little sister relationship in the early episodes will forever be dear to my heart,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to the point that I cherish even the crumbs we get in the final seasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The banter between Shiro and Allura in Collection and Extraction is top-notch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not to mention everything else about their relationship when it's acknowledged.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shiro and Keith have their deep, abiding bond.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Hunk has amazing moments with darned near everyone, because he's Hunk.
Tumblr media
But, yes, so many inter-team and beyond relationships were established, just to be tossed away.
Where's the resolution for Lance's failed attempt to connect with Shiro in the Astral Plane? Why did Shiro start riding in the Green Lion with Pidge on the journey back to Earth after so much significance was given to the literally death-defying depths of his and Keith's devotion to each other? Why set up Acxa having a thing for Keith and Keith going out of his way to save her,
Tumblr media
only to do nothing further with their relationship and later hint at a romance between Acxa and Veronica?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Have a bonus really awkward closeup of Shiro from that episode, as if he isn't disrespected enough in this grueling nightmare of a season:
Tumblr media
It looks like they tried to make him white.(πーπ) )
Shiro and Hunk barely talk to each other, despite being the support pillars of Voltron, and its voices of reason. You have two half-Galra main characters, and they- according to what I've read- never have a single conversation? But, we can do a poor man's recreation of Shiro's confrontation with Zarkon in the Astral Plane, only with Keith, this time, so it's "better" because it's one Galra Paladin calling out the other as unworthy, even though said Paladins have absolutely no prior history with or emotional connection to each other and have done nothing between them to earn this moment.
Why did the Real Shiro and Matt never interact with each other at all after Shiro sacrificed himself to save Matt's life?
The majority of this can be explained by the simple fact that somebody in charge hated Shiro, and didn't want to have to do anything with him, anymore. The rest of it is just... sheer, bewildering, aggravating beyond all comprehension incompetence.

Life in Gaza, my friend
Just living in the Gaza Strip means that you are experiencing a new catastrophe and suffering every hour
Let me explain the topic to you in a simple way
This means that every hour you will see your brother, friend, or acquaintance brutally killed in front of you.
Tumblr media
It means that you will see your little brother die of hunger and disease (from the Al-Kafarna family in the northern Gaza Strip)
Tumblr media
This means that you will struggle to provide drinking water.
It means that you will suffer just because you want to enter the bathroom and find no water or paper to clean yourself.
This means that you will be exposed to poisoning because the food allowed to be brought into Gaza is spoiled or spoiled inside Gaza due to the lack of refrigerators.
Tumblr media
It means you won't find a cure for a headache or any other illness due to the lack of medicines.
It means that you will see an Israeli tank run over your mother while she is alive, while you are tied hand and foot amid the laughter of the occupation soldiers.
Tumblr media
It means seeing your home, built with sweat and toil over 13 years of work, destroyed by air raids for no reason.
Tumblr media
That means a doctor amputates his 16-year-old disabled daughter's foot at home without anesthesia because she was hit by a tank shell, and the army does not allow them to leave the house to go to the hospital.
Tumblr media
This is a small, indivisible part of the reality of Palestinians in Gaza. Despite this, we endure and say we will not leave our land and will rebuild our destroyed homes.
All we ask of you is to support us in providing water, food, and rebuilding homes."

🍁🍁Comfy-vember 🍁🍁
Day 7: Sleeping on shoulder
Grant Ward & Phil Coulson, Agents of SHIELD, AU
------
Skye can't sleep. She tosses and turns for an hour, worries about Coulson, anxiety over Ward, questions about herself all churning through her mind.
Finally she sits up, throws off her blanket in frustration. Maybe she should try a hot drink—some warm milk or even tea.
Her socked feet are quiet on the stairs, as she climbs from the dorms up to the main level. In the hallway, almost to the kitchen, she pauses, cocks her head.
Someone is watching TV. On low.
She turns right, pads to the door of the common room, peers in.
She can see both the television screen and the people on the couch clearly. It's an episode of BBC's Sherlock, and Coulson sits quietly, snacking on something from a bag in his lap. Grant Ward is asleep on his shoulder.
Ward has cleaned up, shaved, he's wearing SHIELD sweats and an old school hoodie Skye thought was Coulson's. It shocks her how thin his face is, typically sharp cheekbones on the verge of cutting through skin. Gaunt, she thinks. He’s slit his right pant leg around the cast that sticks out at what looks like an awkward angle. His left arm is not in its sleeve, and Skye remembers Simmons saying he would need more than one surgery on that shoulder to fix all the accumulated damage.
She thinks for the first time of the pain he must have been, and still is in, taking that bullet for Coulson, months ago. She's been trying so hard not to be sympathetic, but now, seeing him asleep like this on the shoulder of the man he calls 'dad'...
Something hard inside her loosens, something clenched relaxes.
Ward sleeps deep, not stirring even at the sound of gunshots from the television. He's curled in close to Coulson's side, head on top of his dad's shoulder.
Even as Skye watches, expecting Coulson to glance over at her any moment, he turns his head the other way, presses what she'd swear to be a kiss into the shaggy black hair at his cheek.
Skye eases back hastily, almost out of sight, but then Grant stirs and she freezes.
A murmur from Coulson, and there is some shifting; a slurred mumble from Ward indicating the presence of painkillers in his system as he pulls his uneven weight of legs up onto the couch. Coulson eases Ward's head down his lap, reaches for the throw on the back of the couch, pulls it over Ward's body.
When did Ward last sit near someone he could trust? When did he last get touched kindly, or hear his own name spoken the way Coulson said it? How has she been hating this man with the wounds of a true shield (I had to keep you safe), who now sleeps like a child safe with his father?
Skye turns away, hurries to the kitchen. She works quickly, but she tastes salt before warm milk hits her tongue.
It tastes like hope.
