When I was saying that I loved #brightcolors and that I was not very#shabbychic in my home, this is the perfect example. This plastic #kitschy #yellow #frame used to have a mirror in it. The mirror broke many moons ago and I kept it in a drawer not knowing really what to do with it but knowing that I could do something with it. #coronavirusperiod dictates, I am feeling the urge these days to do some #crafts and #glue stuff. I reinforced the piece of cardboard, glued some #tissuepapers on it, glued a #painted piece of #watercolorpaper , varnished it with some acrylic #satinvarnish and placed it in this soft frame. It is the contrary of Shabby Chic, but it makes me smile every time I pass in front of it, because firstly, it is screaming me, secondly in this world where everything is upside down, I #repaired something and gave it a new life. Pauline’s signature style is layering several colours of paint using a dry brush technique, to give the piece warmth, depth and interest, utilizing specific colours or whatever she has on hand. This lovely little table had seen better days and was badly marked up. Rather than repair all of the scratches and gouges, it was decided to camouflage the top with a random pattern. The top was painted in Cottage Black and then stenciled with one of our Cottage Paint stencils in various colours; True Blue, Waterdrop, Antique Silver Metallic Wax, and Antique Gold Metallic Wax. Then two coats of Satin Varnish were added for protection. It’s a fun little table now with just the right amount of colour popping through! Little tables are so much fun to play with! This tiny corner table was painted entirely in Cottage Paint Black, then Old Gold Metallic Wax and Silver Metallic Wax were applied in various techniques; brushed, rolled, stenciled, painted and then given a light sand to look distressed. The table was then sealed with Satin Varnish for durability.
