Let's say chocolate is a metaphor for traditional relationships that happen to appear good but are too sickly sweet for Sanji to handle and after WCI he ends up not liking chocolate. At least for a while. He needs to move on from what happened first. But he wants to force himself to like it because he should like chocolate. It is one of the most basic ingredients when making sweets and it is also everywhere.

So what if it makes him want to throw up? What if his stomach betrays him when cooking? What if he needs to stop every two seconds to breathe because his lungs don't work properly when he smells chocolate? He will keep trying and trying to make it work. Everybody loves chocolate, after all, he should too.

But then, one day, Usopp sees everything he has around the kitchen. Like. That's an awful lot of sweets and a disgusting amount of chocolate and he doesn't seem like he has slept in a week. So of course he is concerned. "Why- What's all of this about, Sanji?" He tries to hide his nervousness with a laugh.

Sanji grips the counter tighter. So much his knuckles turn white. "I- I don't know. I guess I was just. In the mood for chocolate." But he doesn't sound sure at all. In fact, he looks like he's about to cry.

"Well." He looks around the room without wanting to touch anything but approaching Sanji a bit to check on him. "Luffy can have all of my portions because I kind of... Not like chocolate?"

"You don't- You don't like chocolate?"

"No? Too sweet. I actually pretty much hate it? The smell already makes me ill."

"Me too."

"You what?"

"I think I don't- I don't think I like chocolate anymore. Is that- I don't know if I ever did. Is that alright?"

"Why wouldn't it be alright, Sanji? It's just chocolate. Nobody can force you to eat it. Or cook it if you really don't want to."

And Sanji realizes that maybe... Maybe it is alright for him to not want chocolate, and a wave of relief takes over him for a solid second.

Additional Headcanons:

Nami needs her own episode on extreme couponers. Sis has an entire binder dedicated to it.

Zoro cannot for the life of him beat Luffy in an arm wrestling match. No matter how much he lifts or trains, he always loses.

Zoro is actually pretty good at grilling. Sanji was pleasantly surprised when the burger that was presented to him wasnt a pile of ash/ so raw its still walking around. One day the two will have a grill off.

Usopp and Luffy love playing yugioh with eachother. Neither of them actually know the rules of the game, they just make it up as they go.

Nami used to collect american girl dolls and she keeps them in a closet in her apartment. One day when usopp luffy and chopper were snooping around, they found the accursed closet and were scared shitless.

Usopp has an ant farm and luffy thinks its the coolest shit.

In this modern au, sanji takes the place of that one guy on tiktok who makes duets with cooking videos, and films until they put the entire block of cream cheese in the crock pot.

Even though nami has scary dog privilege when walking with zoro, its not just beneficial to her. In fact nami has outlawed zoro from going on walks in general alone, as he would get lost and need nami to walk to him to direct him home. Nami has scary dog privilege and zoro has sense of direction privilege when they walk together

Sanji and Nami rewatch Pretty Little Liars/ Gossip Girl/ Glee/ and other CW drama shows together.

Nami and Usopp always be shit talking someone/something. They are hateful bitches.

How luffy meets each of them:

Zoro- they met each other because the 24 hr gym Zoro works in is right down the street from Luffy’s apartment and one day Luffy was walking by at around 3 am and noticed Zoro in there. Luffy asks him if he wants to join him fucking around at 3 am on the streets of this city area they live in and Zoro accepts after a little convincing from Luffy. When they get outside Zoro’s like

“where’s the rest?”

“Of what?”

“Of your friends”

“Its just you rn”

“… :| i mean, i had assumed you werent alone”

“Nope!”

“HA OkAy”

Nami- they took the same economics course together. They were paired up in a project and hit it off after that and often had study sessions together. Their defining friendship maker though, was they teamed up to steal the answer key to the test they were both definitely going to fail because the class was bullshit.

Usopp- they had taken a graphic design course together. Luffy had no idea what he was doing the entire time and Usopp was very happy that he could impart his wisdom uponst this newcomer to the arts. Although luffy did already have some… incredible(?) art skills of his own already. It was instant chemistry for them honestly, their synergy just clicked and before they knew it, they were besties.

Sanji- works in the restaurant thats underneath the ASL brothers’ apartment complex. Their fist encounter with the restaurant was not of them going in to eat there, though. The trio were throwing around the ol’ pig skin in the street in front of their complex when luffy failed to catch the ball, and accidentally ricocheted it into the front window of the Baratie, through the eating area, over the counter, and into Mr. Zeff’s face. Zeff stormed out of the eatery and asked which of them destroyed his glass and hit him in the head

And luffy looks over and notices his brothers selling him out and is like “HEY!!! D:” So luffy was stationed as the place’s chore boy and met sanji while working there. 2 years later the debt was repayed, sanji and luffy are friends, and the Baratie is ASL’s fav eating place due to the great food, delightfully violent vibes, and great company.

Luffy

Since Luffy loved adventure and the outside world, he was rarely inside your shared bedroom, so your little scheme of collecting blankets and pillows and stuffed animals basically goes under the radar.

Luffy does see you climb on board the Sunny holding bags upon bags of stuffed animals and pillows (with Robin’s assistance) but never questions it because he just assumes you and Robin went out on a shopping spree.

When he eventually does go inside your shared room and find you buried in a pile of blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals, he laughs it off and gets ready to jump in with you.

From that point you had created a rule that Luffy must have showered prior to getting into your pillow fort. 

Luffy didn’t even question your comfy fort when he saw it. Since he was in the room only every few weeks, and with that terrible memory of his, he just saw your fort and went, ‘oh yeah that’s how our room looks!’

At night, when Luffy has showered and is clean, the two of you like to snuggle inside your fort you built, and just talk about anything that comes up.

Zoro

There was no doubt that Zoro had an affinity for sleeping, and doing so with comfort. 

Even though he was barely in your shared room because he had to keep watch at night, your operation went under the radar. 

But Zoro wasn’t Luffy. He eventually noticed the growing amount of pillows and blankets that piled up on the bed, occasionally catching you board the Sunny holding a stuffed animal he’s never seen before.

Within weeks of your operation, he already knows about your hoard and your plans. He doesn’t think much about it, and rather thinks it’s rather cute you loved and craved the comfort of having pillows underneath and above you. 

He never let you know that he knew about your scheme, rather letting you do whatever you wanted, except for a detail.

He would always steal one pillow from your collection to use while he was sleeping. Snatch a pillow and a stuffed animal, and take a nap somewhere on board the Sunny. He’d also snatch some blankets and pillows and put that on the crow’s nest, creating quite the comfy sleeping place for himself.

You didn’t realize your stash was starting to deplete, until you couldn’t find your favorite stuffie.

So you searched all over the place, and found Zoro sleeping on the deck with one of your pillows and your favorite stuffed animal in his arms, a smug smile on his face.

You snatched your stuffed animal back, accusing him of taking your stuffies and pillows.

He relented, and commented on how your hobby of gathering stuffed animals and pillows and blankets was cute.

From that day on, you had spared some of your pillows and blankets into decorating the crow’s nest for Zoro, so that even though he couldn’t spend the entire night with you, he’d still be comfortable while guarding the ship at night.

Sanji

Sanji found out about your operation rather early on compared to the rest, as he would actually get a few hours sleeping with you before having to go to the kitchen to work on the next day’s meals. 

He finds it adorable and absolutely loves it (cue Sanji swooning over with heart eyes and his body turning into that noodle shape where it goes left and right)

He 100% supports your idea of gathering as many comfy things onto your shared bed, so he would give you cash to buy more, and even go on shopping trips with you to buy something he wants to add to the pile.

Sanji added a padlock to the door to your shared room, because he didn’t want anyone to see the fort the two of you were constructing, and he didn’t want anyone else to be a part of your fort.

At night, he’d bring a snack that isn’t wet or crumbly into your fort, and share it with you, hiding underneath the blankets and just talking to each other.

You two have a designated stuffed animal you chose for each other, and you treasured the stuffed animal Sanji picked for you. The stuffed animal you chose for Sanji can always be seen next to him. You chose one pocket sized so that it could be by his side like a good luck charm whenever he was in a fight, and had a hook so he could hook it to his belt so it won’t go missing. 

The kitchen is now covered in stuffed animals of different animals. The Straw Hats don’t question it. They just think Sanji’s just reconnecting with his childhood; they have no idea that it’s you who’s having this effect on Sanji.

Except for Robin, of course. She knows everything.

Agh. AHGHHH. I had a really fucking stupid self-indulgent AU idea where Sanji eats a devil fruit that gives him healing powers. Generally it's a great thing to have but there's two (2) problems with it.

He can only use his healing powers on others, not himself, and depending on the injury it takes a massive amount of stamina to heal (to the point of being life-endangering), and

It is a highly. HIGHLY coveted devil fruit. Sanji has to be very, very careful about when and where he uses it, bc people have and will come after him for it.

Cut to Sabaody, where Kuma decides to send Sanji to Marineford instead of Momoiro, so Sanji spends the next few days trying to hide out (his garbage ass wanted poster actually helping him with this for once lmao). It isn't long before he hears about Ace's planned execution, and Sanji thinks about infiltrating to break him out but realizes it would be too dangerous. Knowing his captain though he's 100% certain Luffy will show up to rescue Ace, so he decides to lay low until the war starts.

Fast forward to when Ace gets fatally wounded and Sanji jumps in to save his ass. He manages to heal the wound enough that a regular doctor could take over, but using that much power and stamina kicks his ass so hard that he's almost crying blood and Luffy has to carry him off the battlefield. Sanji, being an idiot and stupidly self-sacrificing, waits for Luffy to focus on Ace before he slips away and decides to haul ass back to Whitebeard in an attempt to heal him too. Luffy flips his SHIT when he realizes Sanji is gone and has a panic attack after nearly losing his brother and now not knowing where the fuck his stupid cook went.

Sanji and Whitebeard probably argue back and forth for a few minutes before Whitebeard finally relents and lets Sanji take care of the worst of his injuries. Whitebeard watches him and he's like. You're gushing blood out of your nose rn should that be happening. You don't look well. And promptly smacks him on the head when Sanji starts mumbling some self-sacrificing bullshit fjadnsadna

Whitebeard's like well. I WAS planning to die here fighting since I was in really bad shape. But I guess since this dumbass decided to heal me and I owe Strawhat for saving my son. He picks up Sanji (who has long since passed tf out) and is like okay I'm out! Peace!! And books it back to everyone else lol

Cue Luffy BAWLING when Whitebeard shows up with his stupid idiot boyfriend (who uhhh doesn't look too good) and they all manage to escape bc this is a fix-it and I do what I want. They stumble onto Law's submarine who now has to deal with three (3) critically injured patients (Luffy, Sanji, Ace) and the in-recovery arc that happens after is very stressful but also very, very soft.

Basically my brain said "Marineford but it's a fix-it with Sanlu" so here we are LMAO

Okay since I'm in Zosan hell rn. Here's an AU idea I cooked up based on @/7Shizuka9's Isekai Au on Twitter.

So in this story, Zoro was competing against Mihawk in a famous Kendo competition. He manages to get into the semi-finals and come face to face with Mihawk but unfortunately lost, only to win in second place with an injury on his chest. Zoro, feeling like he broke his promise to Kuina all those years ago (and being a dramatic ass/sore loser) overstrains himself in hospital and dies.

Suddenly when Zoro wakes up, he finds himself transported into a romance visual novel and he, you guessed it, is the main protagonist. Meaning like ants attracted to a puddle of honey, all the girls are throwing themselves at him. And he hates it because:

1. He's awkward and an ass

2. He's thinks about Kendo and only kendo (i.e. he doesn't even know how to open the goddamn game menu)

3. He's gay. EXTREMELY GAY.

So for one person, this scenario could be heaven, but for Zoro, it's an equivalent to Dante's Inferno and he's not having a good time.

But for every demon comes a guardian angel and his shining light is Sanji Blackleg: His classmate and love rival in the game.

Except he's not a guardian angel. Because to Zoro, he's a douchebag to all of the guys, including him. So naturally, he hates Sanji's guts and the feeling is mutual on blondie's side too (because Zoro is goddamn cockblock)

At first these guys can't stand each other. They argue in the halls, in class, on cleaning day. It's a nonstop bickering and punching match for these two.

But everything changed once Zoro saw Sanji giving a bento box to a homeless kid on the street, snacks to the school's gardener, and finally, giving Zoro some handmade rice balls himself after Zoro's stomach growled from not eating anything since his reincarnation.

So to make amends, Zoro subtly makes attempts to get the girls to pursue Sanji instead of him. Sanji takes notice of this and confronts him about it. Zoro replies with:

"Because if anyone deserves someone, that'd be you Curly."

And since then, they try to help each other out, Zoro putting a good word for Sanji (albeit terribly) and Sanji pursuing the girls.

Their pursuits don't go so well (The game unfortunately makes the girls go "Urk!" when they see him) and it comes to a point where one girl rejects Sanji's advances completely and throws Sanji's home-made bento box to the ground.

Zoro, annoyed and upset that their hard work has gone to waste, eats the ruined bento from the ground and eats it in front of Sanji to cheer him up.

And Sanji with his cheeks flushed, angrily shouts at Zoro for eating like an animal and offers him to go to a famous ramen place, his treat.

*cue more shojo shenanigans insue*

Base concept I’ve got going rn is essentially just a vinsmoke siblings swap (Sanji ends up modified, the rest are “normal”) and they still have a bad relationship, but it’s still due to the siblings’ attitude and not because of something Sanji’s done. Hell, the relationship between each other kind of worsens too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that around and the idea kept itching at me

The long and short of it would end up being that Sanji’s not strictly a success the same way the others are unequivocally failures— he’s enhanced, but they overcorrected on the emotional front and he’s ended up with little to no personality, very good at taking orders and being a soldier but it’s severe enough that Judge has to swallow his pride and turn to his failure children if he wants the country to run at all once he dies. It doesn’t preclude any of them from abuse at his hands though , just so long as they don’t “look bad”. Sora also died as soon as the boys were born, so they don’t have her as a pillar of support.

When they all collectively decide to run away, Sanji ends up with them and ends up essentially their guard dog, as part of his orders has always been to protect them from outside harm.

The siblings are relieved but also all have differing and even clashing opinions on the “sanji issue” , and all of them are some level of wary of him because it’s just… kind of weird and terrible to be with their brother outside of a Germa context and have the full weight of his emotionlessness settle on them. There’s the issue of them being hunted down and whether Sanji could be used as a weapon against them, but also the issue of him being useful to them on the grand line since they can’t realistically stand up to more powerful crews all on their own, but also fundamentally the issue of Sanji literally being their brother and how messed up it is that they’re debating over him like he’s a gun instead of a person (Reiju is the one who always stresses this).

It leads to a lot of arguing and even a couple fights but they’re family and they have no one else and they love each other so it’s just an exhausting cycle of constant fights and shaky reconciliation where the core issue doesn’t get addressed. They need outside help to resolve it.

Really long synopsis lol but I throw it out here because you might get some mileage out of it too and ur free to elaborate on it as well if it appeals to ya! I have some other specifics figured out and some stuff might change, but basically if you see an AU like this ever pop up on AO3, you’ll know ya boy wrote that ✨

Do you have any thoughts about who would Corazon, Doflamingo, the crew, Luffy etc be in the modern AU?

I DO hehe but I'm up for suggestions for Usopp, Franky and Robin ㅡ for the modern au, I have so far as follows:

Corazon is absolutely an elementary school teacher who has Law come in for career day and brags about him and the kids ask if Law is his son (he says yes, and Law almost cries).

Doflamingo absolutely is involved in the rise and fall of global economics/world trade and stock investments. Shady as fuck, definitely guilty of some less than legal things, but nobody's been able to get proof yet.

Penguin and Shachi are either RNs or instrument techs for Law or radiology techs. They're also his wingmen (he doesn't want them to, but alas) and try constantly to get him a date.

Ace is an EMT ㅡ Marco is his partner, but Ace also has a way of calming down both young patients and older ones. Always has some kind of stuffed animal in the back of the rig, makes silly jokes, generally does his best to keep patients calm.

Sabo works in dispatch for Ace 'n Marco ㅡ also helps clean out the rig if he needs to, also helps get paperwork turned in when Ace inevitably forgets.

Luffy i haven't decided whether to put him as a firefighter or have him as a pediatric nurse because he, like his older brother, has a way of putting kids at ease and showing them the hospital isn't so scary.

Sanji is absolutely works in a Michelin starred restaurant that has months out in booking, but as far as where exactly he is is up for debate because he's multifaceted.

Zoro I'm also not sure with because there is the idea that he either teaches Kendo or he's a personal trainer

Nami is absolutely a meteorologist with a higher percentage of accuracy bc she knows how weather patterns work.

Okay okay one plot point for my One Piece Sound AU is that Zoro is a kendo instructor, and works at the dojo he grew up going to as a kid. Meaning he still works with his sensei Shimotsuki

What I can piece together with Zoro’s early life (I’m still in early one piece idk anything about that gets added to his backstory later) his parents died before the events of the story, so in my AU im going to take that to mean his parents died in some kind of accident when he was a junior in high school.

Shimotsuki took Zoro under his wing cus their families were close and Shimotsuki knew what it was like to lose family. He gave Zoro a steady job at the dojo, set him up with an apartment, and supported his passion for Kendo past high school.

but shit goes south when Zoro finds out he's pregnant and has to notify his work. So again I'm in early one piece, idk anything really about this Shimotsuki guy or what's in his soul, what I do know is that he's a sexist who told his own daughter she couldn't fulfill her dreams. So I think Zoro telling him that he's pregnant with no plans to get married or mate, he'd get on a moral high horse about it. Idk if it's close to canon but I'm okay with bending the personalities of minor characters for my own stories

Essentially, he tells Zoro he would have to give up his dream of being a competitive Kendo fighter if he goes through with this, and that he wouldn't support Zoro and his "lifestyle" so he fires Zoro from working at the dojo. Pregnancy discrimination is a very real thing, and like small tourists towns aren't exactly known for being supportive of unwed pregnant ppl.

Zoro's side of the story is all about his ambition and masculinity, while he goes through something where he'll be judged and made vulnerable, and I think something like this would be a massive hit to his ego and emotional state. It makes him bottle up more, while also making him lean more on the straw hats and Sanji.

When Sanji learns Zoro is now jobless, he offers to let Zoro live with him. They have a whole posturing match about it until Zoro agrees, but ONLY until he finds another job. The plot, as one says, has thickened.

I would say there are about like two months in between when Zoro finds a new job, and I do have some plot ideas as to what will happen in that time span, but rn the important thing is that he gets a job with Mihawk. Who's a fencing instructor and another strong male omega. Mihawk takes Zoro under his wing and lets him use the fencing space to practice his kendo but also shows him some things in the ways of fencing. I like the idea of Zoro having a strong role model to look up to. Like this male omega who's comfortable in his skin and strength and would never let anyone walk over him. Also, someone who doesn't coddle him just because he's pregnant and doesn't assume he doesn't know his own physical limitations.

this is a sidenote tangent: but it really pisses me off when ppl assume people shouldn't be doing anything physical while pregnant. sure avoid stressers, but if you were incredibly physically active before getting pregnant, it's fine if you keep being that level of active, and decreasing as your pregnancy progresses. exercise is great, and it's not other people's place to tell someone what is too much, it's their body!!!! sure Zoro probably couldn't do all-out kendo matches, but there is probably a lot working out he still does, and I already know he's annoyed by people assuming he's doing something wrong by working out.

about zoro... I've been thinking about a few AJSJ.

this is mostly inspired by one of the manga's early color spreads, but basically it's that zoro's actually pretty good at board games and puzzles esp those that require mathematics, and sometimes robin invites him so they can play or solve a few.

this one's more in line with canon lol, that while he's the reserved type compared to other straw hats, he doesn't mind physical affection at all as long as it's from people he likes/is friends with and occasionally he will initiate but it's completely random. no one can tell when he's gonna do it or with whom but he's more likely to do so when drinking. (the weekly joint baths with luffy are also canon in my heart).

LAST ONE I SWEAR this was lowkey a fic idea I was musing. I haven't read all the SBS so idk if this has been brought up before but I had this brainworm that zoro doesn't really talk about kuina (at least not aside from vague mentions or references) though he cherishes her memory dearly, so the idea was that he asked franky post enies lobby to include a place on a corner of the sunny to make a small shrine in her honor. he lights candles and leaves offerings in it (one of the few times he willingly asks sanji to prepare something), esp around her birthday or the anniversary of her death. sometimes he sits there in silence for a while with only wado, and on some occasions the straw hats will keep him company. usually brook, luffy or nami.

lmfaooo seriously tho, it's a tie between ace, sabo and big mom. gotta say I unironically like big mom's design a lot and her pirate hat is so funky I love it.

☔ - scene that made you cry the most?

listen. listen. I'm a crybaby ok and OP is filled with a lot of heartbreaking scenes BUT it's probably the flashback to noland and kalgara, and all the scenes where the folks in skypiea put their hopes in luffy to ring the bell and bring back the light of shandora again. I adore skypiea so much. robin's backstory, ace's, corazón's and oden's deaths made me sob a LOT too.

when he wants something (a rare spice, a certain brand of wine, an expensive cooking utensil) all he has to do is mention it and his brothers would race each other to get it to him first. They're like a bunch of suitors eager to prove their worth. reiju finds it adorable (she doesn't need to race bc sanji adores her when she's not even doing anything).

I like the idea of Sanji allowing himself to express his needs and wishes, and 124ji wanting to prove their love and devotion after years of having a strained relationship.

On a smuttier note though, Sanji’s favorite thing to do is when he wants to get fucked.

all sanji has to do is where something white and tight, and suddenly they're getting a view of the lacy red lingerie he put on under his clothes. they never stood a chance against him.

Even if sanji didn't ask for anything I feel like they'd still get him things. They'd be out on a mission and they'd see a expertly crafted knife set, or a rare ingredient, or an utensil with a very particular purpose and they'd immediately get it for sanji because they know it's something he'd like. They'll make custom orders for him all over the world, they'd go to great lengths to give him anything and everything, all of the best quality. They're obsessed and it clearly shows, there's no denying it and sanji's definitely not complaining

UGH. where he just wants to be sweet but cant let himself get too comfortable where he is (literally in his case). i also relate to him irt my relationship with my family/sibling. hes just constantly aware of other people both to be cautious and to know the people he cares about more, hes been shown canonically to pay close attention and provide gifts that he knew people wanted

kingdom hearts: xion, not for very long but right around when i was finally actualizing my gender identity (id previously been very agender/masc) i rlly took to xion for like. Gender Inspo. i felt like even tho she got the short end of the stick she did her damndest to forge her own identity (roxas got his whole game and arc about it while xion bascially got fridged but its fine). when i finally let myself consider who i would be as a fem person, i pictured her :D

one piece: sanji!! i already sorta liked him (okay maybe not in fishman island or thriller bark. that was. shit.) before heading into whole cake but. lord almighty. lemme tell ya i dont cry very easily over anime but whole cake took me OUT. sanji just tries so hard to be someone who doesnt cause the problems, hes cringe fail but he tries so hard to just be ALLOWED to exist bc hes fought so hard to believe he SHOULD uugggghhhhhhhhhhh. irt the straw hats i think he has some of the most unique and fleshed out philosophies (not wasting food) that his backstory perfectly contextualizes. also im on board with trans fem sanji

ace attorney: to the surprise of absolutely no one THE PHANTOM ive just always attached to the whole. Not Being thing. in the past i struggled rlly hard with depersonalization/derealization/dissociation/basically every manifestation of the phantom, so id connect to them (which i dont think helped lol). nowadays, i focus rlly hard on the idea of the phantoms semi-redemption bc its like... being a person not being a required prerequisite to existing/being in society if that makes sense???? its complicated and probably only makes sense to me :P

runner up is obviously UENDO+ i love them all tell no one but i think kisegawa is my fav i wish she got more lines i actually only watched soj for them bc at the time everyone said the game was literal ass

rvb: if you asked me while i was a fan id probably say agent maine but in retrospect grif was clearly my fav, especially later in the show when he was one of the few leads who had a genuine character arc. he feels the most like a real person idk man

silent hill: every fucking gif of henry is him busting his ass thats all that needs be said

danganronpa: i changed favs very often bc i had zero idea what constituted well written characters lmao i have ~eclectic tastes~ but the main character i rlly liked was touko/syo, her arc in despair sisters afairc was decently well done and her relationship with komaru was sweet, even if dr is kinda an inescapable grease fire. in hindsight, i think i also related more to her than i realized bc of her self esteem and the way her trauma/phobias seemingly blocked her from basic self care/socialization but it was really more about her never having the courage to push her own boundaries (idk how well thats shown in the game but that was my experience)

runner up: korekiyo bc i liked him a lot for longer than most othr characters but afairc my perception of him was VERY heavily based on headcanons/fanon so i doubt id like him at all on a replay. best guess is id only maybe like shuichi or something. pretty much everyone in dr is an asshole tbh i cannot emphasize enough how ass my taste used to be my ability to pick characters i like boiled down to someone telling me a character was cool and i immedaitely absorbed them

Soooooo...

- she barely remembers her life before she was thirteen years old and the last six months, before Shanks and crew find her alone on a boat drifting somewhere in the East Blue, are missing completely

- she probably only sees Shanks a total of six, maybe seven times (?) before he leaves for good to search for the One Piece (because he only ever comes to Windmill Village when it suits him and the crew in terms of pause and provision)

- but he is her first ever real and true and firm memory and when they first meet heis kind and funny and 23 yo with pretty eyes and a soft smile and this is what makes him such an important figure in her life and that feels a lot like love for a girl her age (and hurts just like love to lose it)

- after he loses his arm, Shanks savely returns Luffy to the village, but then goes into shock. Sun refuses to leave his side for two days (this will be recounted in flashbacks after Zoro gets injured in the duel)

- she actually misses the whole duel drama because she spends the night with Sanji - it leads to (another) big fight with Nami

- she technically has no interest whatsoever to help Nami, she just comes with so that Luffy - whom she is very protective over - doesn't get himself killed, but she's basically like "fine, we'll get her back on your crew, but when that's done, so am I"

- she's not done, ofc

- she can't barrel pledge a dream, because dreaming was sth she didn't allow herself to do, but she vows to eventually find one

- she will eventually find the whole truth about her past, including why her memories are so fuzzy, what happened during the missing six months and who forced her to eat the (Mythical Zoan) Sairen Sairen No Mi

- we will also eventually learn her full name

- I have two possible ideas of how I could see her meeting Shanks again

- the first is not that canon compliant (because it would require the whole crew to be together, his promise to Luffy be damned cause I cannot wait until the smol bean is king of the pirates for them to reunite and finally get their shit together!!!1!)

- the second would be set during and after Marinefold (😭), so definitely more canon compliant (it comes with a lot of delicious drama and is probably the "sexier", more adult one, but she would be alone/ without the straw hats for an extended period of time)

and i was wondering how the worst gen trio and the monster trio react to reader-san apparently having a first mate or ally who basically is them? and by that, i mean like... has the same personality as them.

meanwhile, reader-san is just easily tolerating and going with them easily.

example is law-like character making plans and they either help them/him with their/his plans and even follows them (unlike a certain someone), zoro-like character who often naps and both of them just have nap sessions anddd lastly, (your favourite victim) kid-like character who is usually cocky and easily angered and reader-san's there easily calming them/him down.

ps. another thing for kid-like character is that they often cheer for him in the background when he starts unnecessary fights before pulling him away when it gets too far or when they think it's enough.

you’ve always liked luffy since the day you’ve met him, but you don’t know when the urge to appeal to him with everything you do started. of course, it started off small with things like actively looking for a supply of food in a forest you guys entered or listening to him intently when he talked.

it soon changed over to more noticeable things, like cooking for him if sanji wasn’t around (even when he was because you were eager) or asking him what he thinks about your new attacks. you let him know your ideas and opinions because you lived for his praise, something that always lit a fire in you.

every time you made an effort to impress luffy, he got really excited. at first, it was innocent. you were a new crew member and he wanted to make sure you felt comfortable, so indulged in you as much as he could.

he always praised you when you found hella food on an island and subtly noticed when you listened to him when he talked! everyone’s always listening to luffy, but something in him wanted to make sure you were listening to what he has to say as well!

and when you started cooking for him, he was delighted to try whatever you made! being the glutton he is, he is always eager to eat especially when it’s made by someone he truly trusts! sure, he questioned why you were the one making the food a few times, but it didn’t matter! he ate it up either way!

don’t get me started on seeing your new attacks. he always said something along the lines of:
