In A Culture Of Complaint They Developed The Politics Of Grievance

America has made its bed and now it has to lie in it. A while ago, expert political strategists worked out that voters engage more fully with the democratic electoral system on an emotive level than a mere rational one. Therefore, they made negative attack ads which painted their candidate’s political opponents as demons. These campaign strategists formulated speeches and oped content full of emotive finger pointing about stuff upsetting sections of the electorate. In a culture of complaint they developed the politics of grievance. This has now culminated with presidential candidate Trump, who lights the bonfire of hate every time he opens his mouth to speak.

Political Strategists Have Mined The Politics Of Grievance

As several expert political pundits have said, the Trump GOP voters love all this noise and nasty furore. They no longer find politics boring! Their guy pushes every statement to the edge of decency and well beyond. These folk don’t care about protocol and etiquette. They don’t care about doing or saying the right thing. To them it is a circus worth a few laughs and hardly deserving their respect. America has no standards. Free speech lets everything rip. Guns kill children on a daily basis. So what! The only sort of standard is a dollar figure in a civil court proceeding.

America The Land Of Lies & Disinformation Alex Jones tells lies to millions of podcast listeners about a massacre of little children at a school being a faked conspiracy. Sandy Hook. Fake news is a way of life in 21C America. Jones was successfully sued by the parents of the murdered children for millions of dollars. Donald Trump goes around telling tens of millions of people that he was robbed of the 2020 presidential election by voter fraud, despite numerous judicial and private enquiries proving otherwise. How can you have a candidate undermining faith in the electoral system with lies being allowed to do so without being prosecuted? It is crazy. America has no standards. Fox News peddled these election fraud lies and were sued successfully for $700 million by the Dominion company. America is full of lies and disinformation.

Attention Deficit Motor Mouth Culture Americans talk too much. Perhaps this is the consequence of running off at the mouth – nobody believes a word you have said? The truth gets lost in a web of lies. The facts go missing amid the storm of misinformation. Presidents lying – “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” Bill Clinton. Richard Nixon was forced to resign from the presidency after telling so many lies about Watergate. Trump has taken the cake and turned presidential lying into the norm rather than the exception. A large section of the American public are so used to lying by their elected officials that they no longer see it as a bad thing. Better an entertaining lying President than a boring one for their attention deficit psyches fed on a diet of mind numbing TV shows. Navel gazing American pundits have long predicted the fall of their civilisation. The fall of the American empire viewed in Gibbon like Roman terms. I suppose there are modern parallels with the gladiatorial games attending denizens of Rome addicted to a diet of entertainment and free bread. The Trump cult Americans demand ever more piss and wind from their erstwhile President. If these folk feel disparaged by elites at least they can get their revenge and a few laughs along the way as they watch America crumble and burn before their eyes. Morning, folks!

Please enjoy the (Thursday) December 9th 1943 edition of Fort Hancock's soldier-run newspaper, the "Sandy Hook Foghorn" which was issued Eighty Years Ago, today! A weekly publication, the paper represents an incredible "snapshot in time" of the day to day life of the Soldiers of Fort Hancock during World War 2.

This amazing historic resource comes from the holdings of the Monmouth County Historical Association in Freehold, NJ, where they are available to the public.

The Foghorn had an entirely enlisted staff, with a small board of officers as advisers. Printed on-site, it told the stories of the Post and our sister site, Fort Tilden, in Breezy Point, across the harbor.

Due to the heavily censored nature of the day - and being on the front lines of the Battle Of The Atlantic - you'll see that specific units and persons are mentioned via nicknames that would be known only to those stationed there, thus providing no useful information to the enemy.

Rounding out the paper are articles on upcoming recreation events, movies, VIPs, and a handful of one-panel cartoons, drawn by military personnel and "syndicated" across the services. Nearly every ship and post had their own newspapers, telling of the daily life at each location, and major stories, photos, and cartoons were used as filler across the board. Please remember that these stories, articles, photos, and cartoons are products of the era, and should be viewed as such - and not responded to in an inflammatory manner when seen through the views of 2023.

Of note, with Americans pouring into the Service by the millions, the military intentionally drew upon each new recruit's professional background as much as possible. This was especially seen in the technical services, aaanndd... the media.

Those troops who had served in civilian journalism as reporters, printers, broadcasters, and photographers often found themselves right back where they came from, now working in the Signal Corps or running post newspapers, such as the Foghorn.

The Onion, the Chicago-based satirical news company, won a bid Wednesday in a private bankruptcy auction to acquire conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ Infowars and related assets to his media empire, with backing from the families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims, who are owed compensation due to Jones’ years of dismissing the massacre.

According to The Associated Press, Jones spread false claims about the Sandy Hook shooting, calling it a hoax, which led to over $1 billion in defamation judgments against him. The families have supported this move, viewing it as a form of justice for the 20 children and six teachers killed in the 2012 Connecticut shooting.

“The dissolution of Alex Jones’ assets and the death of Infowars is the justice we have long awaited and fought for,” Robbie Parker, whose daughter Emilie was among the victims killed in the shooting, said in a statement from his lawyers, per AP.

While the sale price remains was not made public, The Onion now owns the Infowars website; video archive; social media accounts; studio in Austin, Texas; and trademarks, per AP. Jones, 50, shared a video Thursday on X, formerly known as Twitter, providing an update about the sale to his followers.

“I just got word 15 minutes ago that my lawyers and folks met with the U.S. trustee over our bankruptcy this morning, and they said they are shutting us down even without a court order this morning,” Jones said.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m going to be here until they come and turn the lights off,” he added.

The Onion partners with Everytown for Gun Safety to raise awareness

Jones founded Infowars in 1999, which is operated under Free Speech Systems with around $6 million in cash and $1.2 million in inventory, according to June court filings obtained by NBC News.

Despite his earlier claims about Sandy Hook, Jones has since testified in court multiple times, stating that he now believes the shooting was “100% real.” However, the litigation between him and the families in Connecticut and Texas remains ongoing, per NBC News.

The Onion also reached a multiyear agreement with Everytown for Gun Safety — the anti-violence organization will be the exclusive advertiser on the new Infowars website in order to highlight gun control and related issues.

“The Death of John Colman”

414 Years Ago, Today - (Sunday) September 6th, 1609, Sandy Hook Bay & New York Harbor:

Famed and intrepid explorer Henry Hudson arrived with his ship, the “Half Moon,” arrived off what is now New York several days earlier. Several of his men are out in one of the ship’s boats, exploring the deep waters that we now know as Sandy Hook Bay and the Lower Harbor.

For reasons that will never be known, two canoes full of Lenape Indians arrive, and unleash a hail of arrows upon the sailors. One of them finds its mark, going through the throat of the Half Moon’s 2nd Mate, a man named John Colman. He falls dead into the bottom of the boat as the men furiously row back to the safety of the Half Moon.

The place of his burial – “on the beach” has been lost to history, and there are several candidates as to the location. However, the most plausible location was a spit of sand that was jutting out into these deep waters, adjacent to the Half Moon’s anchorage. It was thus named “Colman’s Point” in his honor. In turn, as the Dutch continued to expand their influence in the area, that spit would come to be known as “Sant Hoek.” We know it today… as Sandy Hook.

Today, we remember John Colman, and warmly reflect on the fact that our beloved Sandy Hook has been intertwined with our nation’s history, literally, since Day One.

The columbine massacre happened April 20th 1999 in Littleton Colorado. This post isn’t about the sh00ting itself but the effects on the world and the years to come.

Since the day over 338,000 kids have experienced gun violence at schools in America. Lead cause of child d3aths? Guns. 1-10 gun d3aths are kids 19 or younger.

The attack caused Americas ‘no tolerance’ policy where any unqualified individual found with weapons on school grounds would face consequences.

The first related incident happened only a few days after the attack, the teens friend Eric Veik had thr3atened to ‘finish the job’ of his friends. After police interrogation he claimed it was simply a joke.

Since 1999 the world has seen a resurgence in school attacks many being copycat crimes. There is 74 known plots 21 played out attacks and the rest being thr3ats or plans. 95% of them were men, 4/5 of them were white. 53% used guns, 18% used explosives and 14% used knifes. 67% obtained the weapons via household. The average age being 17.

This is the number of school sh00tings that happened pre pandemic and post. 2022 has had more school sh00tings than the other years after columbine. One of those being the Kerch Polytechnic sh00ting of 2018. Which down to the end was a copycat. Many refer to it as the Columbine 2.0.

In 2022 34 children and adults died and more than 43,000 children were exposed to gunfire.
