Intro:
(i'll just put it at the bottom so i remember to delete it)
I have been hoarding all of these (there are like 1000 more in my draft and queue lol) for a while now in my draft bc even tho they are like 3 note gifs, they are historical artefacts to meeee.
Anyway, I've got a cold, and so to occupy myself, I decided to just make a blog so that everything can be organised and easy (ish, this is tumblr after all) to find!
I know heaps of my fellow ✨motogp tumblrinas ✨have made archives for their favs, and you are all braver than me, bc I would lose all the gifs immediately if I tried to create new archival posts. So I just reblogged everything and am going to hope for the best in terms of copyright lol
But yeah, these aren't just my favs. This is more just a snapshot of the fandom at different periods. I only reblogged the deactivated ones, but, y'all, use the posts as little gateways to blogs from that time period, it is FACINATING.
As always, peer review is welcome! If i completely messed up a tag (very likely, since i used the mass tag editor), you're welcome to let me know. Also if there's a ship tag, fun tag or something you want me to add in the mass tag editor, lemme know! more than happy to add literally anything ✨✨
I only started this today, so it's very much a work in progress! All the things without a link are because the posts that match up with them are in the queue. I also need to add the ones i forgot
#there is an updated version of this in my pinned#motogp#tag navigation#it just made me sad seeing all of the gifs from 2012 just chilling on abandoned accounts with no tags#pack bonded to the deactivated posts#also the sociology minor in me LOVES lurking around old forums and blogs#like seeing how people reacted towards things and what was popular 15 years ago??? i'm sat i'm writing notes#also soooo devo that i can't yap on all of these posts bc it will mess up the tagging system :((#edit: it's been 2 days and i've started yapping on the posts but i think??? it should be fine#I mean I can just reblog the funny stuff on normal account and yap but still#repsol-ariel#motogpblr#motogp gifs

The Incompetence of the FIA
FIA's Safety Shortcomings: A Critical Overview of Formula 1
In the high-stakes world of Formula 1, the recent history of crashes and fatalities has brought the FIA's (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) commitment to driver safety into serious question. Below, I present a concise analysis of notable incidents and the inadequacies in FIA's responses.
Historical Context of Safety Incidents in F1
Tragic statistics: Since its inception in 1950, Formula 1 has witnessed 52 drivers tragically lose their lives in various incidents throughout races, practice sessions, and even non-championship events.
This grim tally reflects an ongoing concern over driver safety. Some key incidents include:-
Ayrton Senna (1994): The loss of this racing icon at the San Marino Grand Prix due to a steering failure prompted a critical reevaluation of safety protocols.-
Jules Bianchi (2015): Following severe injuries sustained in a crash during the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, pivotal safety innovations such as the Virtual Safety Car and the Halo device were introduced.
A Decade Without Losses:
The 2000s marked a notable achievement: a decade without driver fatalities. This was not mere luck but rather a direct result of the FIA's implementation of rigorous safety measures.
Evaluating FIA's Safety Efforts:
Inadequate Response to Concerns:
The FIA has consistently lagged behind in addressing safety issues raised by drivers and teams. A case in point is the 2021 Miami Grand Prix, where drivers voiced concerns over unsafe barriers following several accidents. The FIA's response? A lack of action that left many frustrated.
Preparedness Lapses:
The tragic incident at the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix, which resulted in Roger Williamson's death due to inadequate safety protocols and missing equipment, exemplifies the FIA’s failure to maintain a proactive safety strategy. It raises the question: Why are fundamental safety measures not being prioritized?
Recent Developments and Safety Challenges
Alonso's Candid Critique:
Fernando Alonso has openly criticized the FIA stewards, emphasizing their perceived lack of professionalism and failure to address critical safety concerns. His comments highlight how driver safetyissues often go unheard, particularly regarding the absence of protective barriers at key corners—an unacceptable oversight.
Drivers Unite for Enhanced Safety:
The Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) is now advocating for heightened safety standards and better communication with the FIA. They demand acknowledgment and respect for their concerns regarding their safety on the track. In conclusion, the FIA's track record on safety is becoming increasingly untenable.
It's time for significant improvements in their approach to ensure the well-being of drivers.

Recently started watching motopg (I've become a huge marc fan). I wanted to watch some of the old races, and sooo... which races do u think are the most iconic/ which ones are entertaining to watch (no pressure, u don't have to answer this ask<3)
HIII welcome to motogp 🥳🥳🥳 okay so i’m terrible remembering old races so if you want something older than 2013 (i rewatch 2013-2019 races A LOT during marc’s injured days so they’re like branded in my brain) i would invite other mutuals to reblog this with their recs. OKAY SO LETS GO
1. assen 2018 aka everyone’s favorite race. THIS is the race everyone and their mothers will name drop when people from other motorsports start coming for motogp okay… i’ve converted 3 people into this sport from that race alone 🙂↔️🙂↔️
2. any phillip island races are instant classics sooo you can pick any of them no matter the year (shout out to 2015 and 2017 personally)
okay now moving forward to marc centric races bc i am a marc fan first and foremost sooo:
sachsenring 2016 brno 2017 and san marino 2017 for introduction to mixed condition specialist marc marquez <3
silverstone 2013 mugello 2016 austria 2018 bc i love good old marquenzo duels <3
if u want to see recent good ol marc comeback races assen 2021 and cota 2022... p20 to p7 and p24 to p6.... in THAT honda.... everyone pls bow down.....
aragon 2021 is also fun i love a good honda marc duel with ducati.... sachsenring 2017 or '18 (?) duel with folger is also fun.....
i think some motegi ('17? '16?) and aragon '18? were fun too.... okay my brain blanks out i forget all races now pls i need my mutuals to intervene sorry KJSKSJHSJKS i have memory of a goldfish….
#austria 2019 and silverstone 2019 back to back for PAIN... great race terrible week for me (marc losing in the last corner TWICE in a week)#thailand 2018 and 2019 for marc last corner masterclass to balance out austria and silverstone#laguna seca 2013 for a classic and the lore....#also catalan gp 2014 was fun too JHSJKSHS OKAY THATS IT#i can't remember anything now lol#💌💌💌

Eurovision Fact #446:
Over the 67 years of Eurovision, quite a few American contestants have taken part, one American even won the contest.
To begin, non-qualifying artists include:
Cyprus' 2006 representative and former backup singer for Brittany Spears, Annet Artani; both Austria and Slovenia's 2013 representatives, Natália Kelly and Hannah, respectively; finally Jimmie Wilson, who represented San Marino as part of a duo with Valentina Monetta in 2017.
Next, there were many qualifying American artists. Many of which made it into the top 10. For starters, artists that did not make the top 10 include:
1979's representative for Luxembourg, Jeane Manson; Denmark's 1981 representative Debbie Cameron, who took part as a duo with Tommy Seebach; Kim Cooper of The Rounder Girls, who represented Austria in 2000; Poland's 2008 representative Isis Gee; Oscar Loya of Alex Swings Oscar Sings, who represented Germany in 2009; Tamar Kaprelian of Genealogy, who represented Armenia in 2015; Bulgaria's 2018 contestants Trey Campbell and Johnny Manuel of the group Equinox; in 2021, Flo Rida featured in Senhit's performance for San Marino; and Poland's 2022 contestant Ochman.
Finally, a total of 6 American contestants have made the top 10. In order of placing, they are:
Rhonda Heath of the Silver Convention, who represented Germany in 1977, earning 8th place; Romina Power, who represented Italy twice with her then husband, Al Bano, once in 1976 and 1985 -- earning 7th place both times; Hungary's 2014 representative András Kállay-Saunders, who placed 5th; Wess, who performed with Dori Ghezzi in 1975 for Italy, placing 3rd; also placing 3rd was Greece's Kalomira, who took part in 2008; finally, taking home first place in 1997 was Katrina Leskanich of Katrina and the Waves, who represented the United Kingdom.

The Last Place Squad
There's a saying my mother tells me when I do rankings of any kind, "Someone's always gotta be vanilla." The implication is that you could have a great batch of anything to rank, but someone has to rank at the bottom (apologies to my vanilla ice cream fans it is a good flavor). And with Eurovision, we have to have one song that ranks not last in the Grand Final (that's a future post though), but last of all the songs. Which I will be ranking (in my pure opinionation)!
Disclaimer: I won't be ranking "Europapa" as dead last because *technically* it was dead last with the disqualification, but it *did* qualify for the grand final. Same goes for my last in Grand Final post later.
2022: "Disko" by LPS (Slovenia) 2015: "Time To Shine" by Mélanie René (Switzerland) 2024: "Scared Of Heights" by Hera Björk (Iceland) 2016: "Play" by Jüri Pootsmann (Estonia) 2019: "22" by Sarah McTernan (Ireland) 2018: "Our Choice" by Ari Ólafsson (Iceland) 2023*: "Like An Animal" by Piqued Jacks (San Marino) 2017: "Spirit Of The Night" by Valentina Monetta & Jimmie Wilson (San Marino) 2021: "The Moon Is Rising" by Samanta Tīna (Latvia)
*: Technically speaking, "Like An Animal" by Piqued Jacks from San Marino and "D.G.T (Off And On)" by Theodor Andrei from Romania ranked dead last in Eurovision 2023 with nul points in their semi. HOWEVER, the tie has been canonically broken by running order. Since Piqued Jacks performed after Theodor Andrei, Piqued Jacks ended up ranked dead last.
Well that does it! I wanted to note here that my Eurovision 2006 ranking originally slated for today will be coming out tomorrow, and my rankings may come out on Saturdays from this point out because it's a lot easier. Just assume for now that you get rankings on weekends.

Eurovision 2024 - Meet the Malmö Participants
🇸🇲 San Marino - MEGARA - "11:11"
More than a band, MEGARA is a concept!
Rock, pop, metal, electronic - whatever! These guys play with all kinds of musical genres, forgetting about prejudices and labels. The band embraces inclusivity, and within their act there is space for spikes, headbanging and fire, but also for dancers, unicorns and candy. There's room for everybody!
They released their very first EP Muérase Qué Puede in 2015, and one year later they put out their debut album Siete. Since then, three more albums have followed, with Truco o Trato being the most recent one in late 2022.
After competing in Spain’s Eurovision pre-selection Benidorm Fest 2023 and finishing in 4th place, the band has one year on achieved its dream of taking to the Eurovision Song Contest stage, this time representing San Marino.

🎊 2-Year Anniversary! 🪅
I started the World Challenge around April 2022, so here's my little 2-year celebratory post with a bunch of stats that no one cares about!!
The stats:
Books read: 70
Countries completed: 66
Total pages read: 23,918
Average rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3.9 stars
Average publication year: 2015
Average page count per book: 341
Native authors: 74%
Queer books: 24%
YA or MG genre: 68%
As you can see from the number above, it can be hard to find queer books for certain countries. I have also somehow managed to generally pick books that I like, as the ratings show!
Top Genres:
Sources:
Total spent: $41.39
Most of the spent is 2 months of Scribd, and some Kindle sale books. The "Other" is, ahem, when there were no affordable options, and thankfully that was low! Otherwise I managed well with libraries and free trials! (all digital)

Un'isola
[ 1a parte ]
Nelle ossa.
Scompiglia i piani, i programmi, strappa i panni dai fili, sbatte porte, vetri, tende.

Some Eurovision Song Contest opinions <3
Slovenia has never sent a bad entry, all of their songs are inside their years' top 10 for me
Australia is waaaaaaay too overrated, like we get it, yall are on another landmass yada yada, but cmon, only a single top 20 result for me and it's a 20th in 2015, up yall's game fr
Georgia is EXTREMELY underrated, they are what San Marino wants to be, but sadly are pretty on-par result-wise
Montenegro's "Heaven" is my 2019 winner :3
Slovenia getting last overall in 2022 was a crime, like, even with my Slovene Entry Bias™ i don't see what made the entry so bad to the point of being lower than Halo
Ça M'Ennuie Pas is jarring and Gustaph deserved the W

My top 5 of Eurovision 2014
Maybe (San Marino) - It may not win Eurovision so easily, but it easily conquered my heart with this song. I listened to it before watching Eurovision and this song is so beautiful! Valentina is such an icon for San Marino as well. Her voice is so pretty, the melody may be simple but beautiful, i just really love this song and wonder how things will turn out when San Marino wins Eurovision one day.
Rise Like A Phoenix (Austria) - A great winner, honestly. Took me a while to truly love it until i started repeating the build-up to the chorus. It's beautiful. Conchita is beautiful and their voice is impressive as hell. No wonder they became such an iconic winner in Eurovision. The instrumental is also really good.
Undo (Sweden) - I heard this song before and the moment i found out it was an Eurovision song really surprised me. Sanna's voice is really good and the song gets kinda catchy after a while. It's only not any higher because the others mentioned are far better than this, but the nostalgia just brings back the memories of when i loved this song.
Shine (Russia) - A great song. That's all i can say. The Tolmachevy Sisters were so creative and talented and they were only 17 around the time. The performance was great, the song is kinda catchy, it was just pure amazingness. Probably one of the best russian entries alongside the 2015 and 2021 ones.
Tick Tock (Ukraine) - Amongst the many options i had, such as Ireland, Italy or Switzerland, Ukraine takes the spot. It reminds me a lot of Shady Lady from 2008. It's not as catchy as Shady Lady, but it's not bad either. It's not exactly the best, but there was some effort put into it. Mariya had so much charisma and the performance was odd, but slightly captivating.
Honorable Mentions: Portugal, The Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, Belarus, Poland, Latvia, Slovenia, Finland, North Macedonia, Moldova, Denmark and Montenegro. (Not a bad edition, just really hard to rank.)

Eurovision Fact #453:
In 2014, children aged 10-15 were allowed to participate in Junior Eurovision. This rule would hypothetically allow 15-year-olds to take part in Junior Eurovision one year, then Eurovision in the next.
However, this was only ever done by Anita Simoncini, who participated for San Marino in Junior Eurovision in 2014 as a member of The Peppermints, then represented the nation in Eurovision the following year as part of a duo with Michele Perniola.
She placed 15th in Junior Eurovision and unfortunately did not qualify for the Grand Final in Eurovision, placing 16th in her semi-final.
