“You’re the child of divorce—I’m the child of an 88 year old and his sugar baby. We are not the same.”
I’ve been thinking of my Sam and Donna’s crack AU where they have an accidental magic baby and igdfhgfidhg RE-INTRODUCING Xiomara, the pillow princess of the Pearl Isles who can continue to terrorize both the citizens of Prakra and Vesuvia lmfao
Some random bits of lore & her general personality:
She is a Daddy’s Girl through and through and primarily stays on the islands because she wants to be sure she gets to have Sam in her life as much as possible :’) she has always been brutally aware that her dad is Old and doesn’t have much longer like other folks her age do, so she’s very Anxious when it comes to his health and being away from him for too long
She obviously loves Donna very much (hence why she has several tattoos to remind her of them), and she will travel to Vesuvia with Sam to visit them too. Absolutely does not vibe with Valerius LMAO they’ve gotten better as she’s gotten older, but she just does not vibe with her step-dad lmao
Other than the looming threat of paternal death, she is very much the life of the party lmfao She’s much more of a socialite than someone with many political interests, and if there’s an excuse to throw a party, she’s throwing a damn party
She’s a lesbian and in a slllliiigghhhtly monogamous relationship (much to her father’s shock and horror), but she’s an exhibitionist in her heart and loves to put on a good show knowing her Zaddy is watching and cheering her on lmao <3 her orgy parties are also very famous around Prakra where people can truly fuck around and find out lol
As fun loving as she is, she also has both Sam’s temper and Donna’s lmao in general she really enjoys combat training and loves to spar, but she’s 6 feet tall and full of muscle, so if she sees something that upsets her, her first reaction is to hit/bite and then talk through it after lmfao
Undercut is her full ~nude~ model so beware of boobs and bush but im v proud of how she came out even nude so you all shall see her LMAO
No other thoughts just. She 💖

actually thinking of subs showing love for their doms (even the brats):
an incomplete list of things Donna loves about Sam (some of which he will never know lmao)✨✨:
First and foremost his HANDS—his hands are their favorite body part on him including his ass lmao They like playing with them, kissing them, licking them, nibbling em, etc etc etc
How raspy his voice is—they know it’s the T & life long smoker combo, and they cannot deny it short circuits his brain (especially when he whispers)
His ability to get and maintain anyone’s attention; they were often attached to his hip at different parties and would just be zooted and nonverbal watching their man shmooze with anyone and everyone (they also admire this in Valerius)
Slightly related, but the man can TALK and they love how he tells stories. I think the reason why Donna holds so many of Sam’s secrets so close to them is partially the way he tells stories from his childhood and what a rare treat it is when he does—they would never divulge that to anyone because they were special moments just between themself and Sam
Sam is honestly the only partner to not even bat an eye at any of Donna’s deranged sexual fantasies LMAO for someone who grew up thinking they were Too Much in everything they do, having an older partner be not at all phased and instead very encouraging of them and their kink was like vital to their brain LMAO
They really really really like how he smells, even when he’s smelly lmfao
While they adore the sadist in him, they also really love the nurturer in him too. Not everyone gets to see that genuine side of Sam that goes beyond aftercare, and it’s why Donna was even so down bad for him (and still is lmao)
This is post-game specifically but Sam is just really good with kids and it makes them fucking feral seeing how sweet he is with Damien lmfao
THAT BEING SAID what they really love about Sam and a common theme that always comes up in my fics with them is that Sam is not afraid of hurting Donna exactly how they need it. He knows his own body and strength better than the average person, and he’s put in the work into knowing all of Donna’s hard limits. They won’t ever say it to his face, but truly no one hurts Donna like Sam does, and that’s a massive compliment coming from them lmao
(To get sentimental: for a character whose entire life was shrouded with pain and fear, Sam really has carved out a space for Donna to experience these sensations in a place that is safe and sacred for them and that they have complete control of. They would objectively be much more fucked up if they didn’t have kink and they wouldn’t be so versed in it if it wasn’t for peepaw and that’s something they’re eternally grateful for lmao but sshhh don’t tell him, that’ll inflate his ego way too much LMFAO)

Sweet Rescue - 01
Firefighter!Dean Winchester x Fem!Reader
Content Warning: None, I think.
A/N: I hope you like it, please let me know if you do!
Tumblr media
Your parents always warned you about the dangers of driving late at night, but did you listen?
It all happened too fast. As you were waiting for the red light to change, out of nowhere you felt a violent impact on the left side of your car, launching you across the empty street. Shattered glasses splattered down your face and you instinctively squeezed your eyes shut, waiting for the worst, only opening them again until your car finally came to a stop.
The front of your car was completely destroyed, which is likely the reason why your legs felt trapped. You tried to move them to get out of the car, but it didn’t work. Your eyesight started to get blurry. You reached up to touch the side of your head and immediately felt a wave of nausea wash over you when you looked at the blood on your fingers.
There was no room to move, your throat felt dry and tight, refusing to let you scream for help. Your phone was nowhere to be found, and with each passing moment, your eyelids grew heavier, as if sleep was pulling you under.
You weren’t sure what the handsome firefighter was trying to tell you, you weren’t even sure when they arrived at the scene, let alone who called for them.
The only thing you were sure of, was that the man in front of you had the prettiest green eyes you’ve ever seen in your entire existence.
Suddenly, the shock wave left your body, and all the noise came back. The blaring sirens and flashing lights complicate your vision, their brightness finally blinding you. For the first time in what felt like forever, you blinked again. The dryness in your eyes stung a bit, giving you a hint of how long you had been frozen at that moment.
“Sweetheart?” A deep and raspy voice caught your attention.
“You have pretty eyes.” He flashed a smile at you.
You saw how he gestured for the other firefighters to help him get you out of the wrecked automobile.
“Don’t move your head, sweetheart, my friends here are going to take good care of you.” He pointed at two women who seemed to be the paramedics.
——
“Oh God, I came as soon as I heard.” A worried redhead barged into your hospital room. “Are you okay boss?”
Charlie has been there since you opened the bakery. Doesn’t do a lot of baking but she’s really good at managing business.
“I’m okay, they just wanted me to stay the night to monitor my contusion.” You reassured. “I will be discharged in a couple of hours. Just remind me to never drive at night again.”
The redhead sat on the end of the bed. “What happened?”
“A drunk driver, luckily the street was empty, it was just me, so it wasn’t a big accident.” You quickly explained.
“I heard the firefighters got you out.” She narrowed her eyes. “Pretty? Hot? Spill it.”
You chuckled while shaking your head. “Pretty hot, I would say.”
“We’ll have to thank them to save the best boss ever.”
“Oww, I knew you cared, Charlie.” You said placing a hand on your heart.
“Well of course, if you die I become jobless.”
“Touching words Charlie, they are really heartwarming.”
“No, really boss, I’m glad you’re fine.” She smiled softly, grabbing your hand between hers. “I should come back to the bakery, and make sure Donna hasn’t burned anything, but I will come back in a few hours to get you home, got it?”
“Got it.”
You waved goodbye to her and smiled to yourself. There was nothing much to do but stare at the white, sterile walls around you. No phone to distract you, it was probably destroyed in the accident. You’d been planning to replace it anyway, though not before buying the new refrigerator for the bakery, paying the bills, and—oh right—baking the wedding cake for your aunt, along with cupcakes for that birthday party. Damn it, you were way too busy to be hospitalized.
Before you could spiral further into your thoughts, a throat clearing from across the room caught your attention. You looked up to find a tall, green-eyed man staring at you.
Those eyes
“Hey, I'm Captain Winchester, I don’t know if you remember me, but I —.” You interrupted him.
“The firefighter who pulled me out of the car, I remember.”
He smiled widely. “You do?” He chuckled a little. “I came to drop some patients and found out you stayed overnight, so I came to check on you.”
“Yeah, apparently they wanted to monitor my head injury and the concussion, but they will discharge me in a minute.”
“It was a pretty nasty cut, huh?” He pointed at the baby pink Hello Kitty band-aid covering your tiny wound.
You laughed a little embarrassed. “Hey, it could’ve been dangerous, I almost died out there.”
“Not on my watch, sweetheart.” He leaned on the end of the bed, getting closer to you. You struggled to breathe.
Your hand traveled at the tiny band-aid in your head, suddenly remembering your choice of style.
“You know, they didn’t have normal ones, so they gave me no choice.”
“The hospital didn’t have regular band-aids and forced you to use a Hello Kitty one?”
“Yup, those bastards.” You frowned, not able to hide your smile.
He narrowed his eyes at you, calling your bullshit.
“Fine, I chose it, but it was because it’s the only band-aid that fits my personality.”
He chuckled. “That I can see.”
Captain Winchester stayed for about half an hour, chatting with you. He would have stayed longer, but one of the paramedics—Jo, as you had learned—came looking for him.
“Dean?” You looked up in surprise at the blonde girl standing in your doorway. Captain Winchester seemed equally caught off guard. “The guys are waiting for you. They want to rest.”
“Oh, sorry,” Dean muttered, glancing at his watch in confusion. “I kind of lost track of time.” He turned back to Jo. “This is the lady from the accident. Jo is, well, you know her.” He gestured to you. “Jo’s the paramedic who helped you.”
“I remember. Thank you so much, Jo,” you said, offering a genuine smile.
Jo nodded, her expression briefly softening. “That’s my job, but glad to see you’re okay.” Her focus quickly shifted back to him, barely acknowledging you.
Dean gave you a small smile, his fingers tapping on the bed rails. “I should get going, but I’m glad you’re alright.” He hesitated for a moment, then added, “Need a ride? There’s room on the truck.”
Jo raised an eyebrow at his words, clearly confused by his offer.
“Oh, my friend should be on her way. But I appreciate it, really.” You smiled at him.
He returned the smile, more warmly this time. “Alright. see you around, then.”
“Bye, Captain,” you said, your voice soft as you watched him leave.
——
“See you around? Are you stupid, Dean?”
“Jeez Sammy, I’m sorry, my mind blocked for a moment, okay?.” Dean looked up at his brother, feeling slightly offended.
“Clearly, how are you gonna see her around if you didn’t even ask for her number.”
“I’ll ask Cas, he’s a doctor there, maybe he can get me her phone number?.”
“No, he can’t, it’s against the hospital policies.”
“What if I invite him a beer in exchange?” Sam shook his head in disbelief.
“A bribe? That's illegal.”
“No, it’s not.” His fingers grabbed the bacon on his breakfast plate.
“Of course it is Dean.”
“It’s not illegal if you don’t get caught.”
“That’s not how it works, and you know it.” Sam massaged his temples with his fingers.
“Fine! I’ll ask Jo if she can do a follow-up and help me get her number.” The older brother took a bite out of his bacon, shrinking his shoulders.
“No, bad idea, don’t ask Jo.”
“Why not?” Dean looked at this brother in utter confusion.
“Just don’t, trust me.”
Dean's mouth opened to argue back, but before he could say something a soft voice interrupted him.
“Excuse me? I'm looking for Captain Winchester.”
And there you were, looking beautiful, a different band-aid adorned your forehead, this time it didn’t have a Hello Kitty on it, it was simple in a pretty cherry red color. You were juggling with a bunch of pink pastry boxes, Dean recognized the logo, it was from his favorite bakery.
“You’ve found him.” You smiled when your eyes found his green ones.
He immediately stepped forward to help you with the boxes, noticing there were at least six of them, each in a different size.
"This is for you," you said, offering him a warm smile. "Well, for all of you," you added, glancing at the curious firefighters who were watching. "It’s just a small way to say thank you for saving my life."
"Oh, sweetheart, you didn’t have to do this," he replied, smiling at you.
“It’s really no trouble,” you said with a shrug, your voice softening. "I didn’t know what to bring, so I grabbed a little bit of everything, pie, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, cookies, I hope you like it." You clasped your hands together. "It was baked with a lot of love and a big thank you."
"How do you know it was baked with a lot of love?" came from Jo’s voice, echoing from the doorway as she leaned against the frame, arms crossed.
Dean winced, but you didn’t seem bothered by her tone.
"Uh, I baked them." you said, smiling softly.
"Do you work there, sweetheart?" Dean asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Well, kinda," you chuckled lightly. "I actually own the place."
"You own the bakery with the best pies in town?" Dean asked, a hint of excitement creeping into his voice.
"I don’t know about the best pies in town," you said with a small laugh, "but yeah, I own it."
"Awesome." He said.
"Excuse my brother." A deep voice said from behind him. A tall man with long hair stepped forward and offered his hand with a smile. "He really does love your bakery. I’m Lieutenant Sam Winchester."
You shook his hand, handing him a piece of paper as you did. He glanced at it, looking slightly confused.
"I wasn’t sure what would be enough," you explained, suddenly feeling a little shy. "But being there during the accident, seeing all of your faces, it just made me feel like I had another chance. So, I wanted to give you something to show how much I appreciate what you did for me."
You took a deep breath, watching his expression carefully. "For the next year, you can go to my bakery and get anything you want. My treat."
Sam blinked, surprised. "What? That’s too much, Are you sure?"
You nodded with a smile. "Yes, absolutely. I’ve already talked to all my employees. If I’m not there, they’ve been instructed to let you take whatever you want every morning. No charge."
"That’s really kind of you," a voice said from behind you. "We really appreciate it."
"Sweetheart, this is Chief Singer, Bobby Singer." Dean said, introducing you.
"A pleasure, Chief. You have the finest firefighters in town." you said with a smile.
Bobby grinned. "That I know." he replied, clearly proud.
You glanced at Dean, suddenly reminded of your to-do list. "I really should get going. I need to take care of some things for the insurance company."
"Let me walk you out, sweetheart," Dean offered.
You nodded, gathering your things as you made your way toward the door, stopping to say goodbye to everyone in the room.
"Thanks for the pie, beautiful," Dean said teasingly.
You felt your cheeks flush. "Thanks to you, for rescuing me and for checking on me."
"Always," he said, his smile softening. "I’ll be there tomorrow, first thing in the morning."
"I’ll make sure to be there."
"You better." he said with a playful grin.
And he stood there watching her leave the fire station,  her red high heels clicking against the gray concrete floor and hips moving side to side as she walked out.
“Oh my god, you really like her.” A voice coming from behind him said.
“Shut up, Sammy.”
“Hey, it’s okay, it’s been a year already.” The younger sibling looked at him, placing a hand on Dean’s shoulder. “It’s okay to move on.”
Dean simply nodded.

"As you probably know, the President does a regular Saturday morning radio address, which he records on Friday. The address is usually two to three minutes in length. When it's over, the President will be happy to stand for pictures. Uh, I'm gonna ask you to form a horseshoe against that wall. Not an actual horseshoe. That takes special training as a blacksmith."

The Infiltration
The Beginning of the New Pantheon
Masterpost
Donna Troy dialed a familiar number as she flew through the air from Mount Olympus. She could feel the weight of her coming responsibilities on her shoulders already. Zeus had chosen her to be Queen of the New Olympians. She would need a whole freak out later, but for now, she had to inform the others.
“This is Nightwing.” Dick’s voice came through her comm, calm, curt, and ready for any crisis. Just what she needed.
“Hey Boy Wonder.” Donna said.
“I get the feeling this isn’t a social call.”
“Unfortunately no. I’m going to send you a list of junior leaguers, can you make sure they are waiting for me at Titans Tower? Along with any of you bats that are free.”
“Of course, Donna. Does this have anything to do with the emergency meeting Diana just called with the rest of the League?”
“It sure does.”
“Got it. What should I tell the others? What should I be ready for?”
Donna took a moment to think through what she thought would happen and how the others would react.
“Tell your birds to polish their batarangs and prepare for an uncertain diplomatic situation.”
“Got it. I’ll round up the others and meet you at the Tower.”
“Thanks.” Donna almost ended the call, but stopped. “And Nightwing?”
“Yeah?” His voice was half distracted as he sought out where the other bats were currently.
“I’m going to need your help to keep them all from falling apart.”
“Don’t worry Donna. I’ve got your back.”
.
Cassie was baffled by her mission. How was it that there was a group of heroes that had flown completely under the radar of the Justice League, yet had somehow earned the respect of the Olympians? Her list had a bunch of different names on it, but all had the same location. She had looked up the names in the JL systems as she flew from Olympus to the middle of nowhere Illinois. None of the people were in the database. Red Robin would be pissed if he knew.
Even more concerning was the fact that there wasn’t even a town listed at the coordinates. Batman insisted that the League had the best satellites with the best cameras and there was nothing in the area. There weren’t even any JL calls! If there were a bunch of heroes who had been facing things that had been known to the Olympians, there should have been some calls from civilians for help right?
She was really hoping this wasn’t some kind of weird murder-cult or unsanctioned government organization. She hated dealing with those, and for now she would be on her own. Young Justice got up to a lot of weird stuff that didn’t make it into the League reports, especially under Red Robin’s leadership, and this might top all the rest.
Cassie landed just on the outskirts of what appeared to be a regular suburban town. Her eyebrows rose at the sign that welcomed her to Amity Park. Underneath the city’s name had previously been an older town slogan, she could still read the faded letters even though the words themselves had been removed, “The Most Haunted City in the US!” Over those faded marks was a new slogan, “A Place to Live.” Clearly the slogan had changed recently, with a real half-assed effort.
Over top the new slogan was some graffiti in a neon green spray paint that crossed out the other words and said, “Welcome to Hell.” She supposed it only made sense for someone who would replace Hades as the lord of the Underworld to live in a place like this. She sighed to herself, switched her uniform to her more stealth focused look and crept past the city limits.
Her feelings of concern grew when she saw what was clearly a government blockade stretching across the road into the rest of the city proper. Multiple all white vans blocked all out going traffic and the in going road was limited to a single lane. She could make out multiple government goons in tacky white suits carrying all manner of glowing green weapons; blasters, rifles, even what looked like a bazooka.
A fence extended from the blockade and seemed to wrap around the entire city. The fence was topped with barbed wire and had strange sensors every few yards. She pulled a few wires, and connected them to the small palm computer she carried with her equipment. She might not be as techy as Red Robin and Impulse were, but she was better than Superboy, and Red Robin made sure they were all equipped to handle the basics of infiltration and espionage.
Whatever the sensors were searching for, and it wasn’t movement, heat, radiation or anything else she could figure out on her own, they also didn’t detect her. There didn’t appear to be any cameras that she could see, so the goons were solely dependent on these sensors. This was becoming even more of a mystery, and she hadn’t even found Phantom yet.
Cassie lifted off, flying easily over the fence to land on the other side. Both the goons at the gate and the sensors were aimed at the sky, so she had to imagine that whatever they were trying to contain was a known flier. Even if the sensors couldn’t detect her, she would have an easier time avoiding problems on the ground even if it would take longer to get around.
She walked quickly into the mid-sized town from the outskirts and her concerns only grew. There were hardly any cars on the roads, which made perfect sense considering the road was pocked with massive craters like the town had been bombarded by meteors. The few citizens she could see hurried by as if afraid to be caught out on the streets.
This was a city under siege, but from what?
Also, why hadn’t the Justice League been called?
Cassie had a bad feeling that she wouldn’t like the answer to either of those questions.
She hurried through, her eyes peeled for any threat, as well as on the look out for the mysterious Phantom she was supposed to be making contact with. There were stores boarded up, more sensors along with loud speakers on tall poles, and posters warning the populace about a curfew.
Cassie ducked into an alley at the sound of squealing tires. Her eyes just about bugged out of her head as a silver tank, with that same neon green detailing barreled around the corner. It took out a stop light, then without stopping carried on down to the other end of the street. The tank had what  she could only describe as a cannon on its roof, that same eerie green glow to it.
She had fought alongside Superboy often enough that her first thought was Kryptonite, but unless there were somehow an entire city of secret Kryptonians, it didn’t make sense for them to carry weapons specifically against the Supers. She leaned out into the street to see if she could see which way it was going, or if there was any sign of what a tank like that was needed for.
“Hey! Get out of the streets!” A voice hissed to her from the opposite alley way.
Cassie whipped her head up. There in the opposite alley were two teenagers, desperately waving her over. She double checked that the tank had turned the corner and wasn’t in sight and she ran across to them. They pulled her away from the street into the back alley behind one of the businesses.
She looked the two of them over once they were no longer moving. The girl was goth, with dark hair, pale skin, a leather jacket, and backpack with several plants hanging out of it. Cassie thought she might get along very well with Raven. The boy had dark skin, a ratty and stained beanie and the oldest PDA she had ever seen even if it looked modded to Hades and back. He would probably get along entirely too well with Red Robin. She would have to keep the two of them apart.
The boy was watching back the way they had come, his PDA in his hand as he checked for any followers. The girl was watching with Cassie with the same examining glare she was used to from Batman.
“What are you doing?” The girl snapped her question out. “We told all teenagers to stay off the streets. It's not safe with the GIW on patrol!”
Cassie ratcheted up her mental alarm scale quite a bit. This whole town already had so many red flags it looked like a ski slope, and now she was adding even more. She set her feet and squared her shoulders. She was a member of Young Justice. She wasn’t going to let this happen.
“I need you two to tell me everything you know. I’m called Wonder Girl and I’m with the Justice League and I’m here to help.” Cassie said, using her “Daughter of Zeus” voice that she reserved for during a crisis. Impulse always said he could hear thunder in her voice when she did that.
“What’s the Justice League?” The boy asked, and Cassie was knocked onto her back foot. She had purposely said the main League because people sometimes looked down on YJ and TT because they were kids, but how could someone not even know about the Justice League? They were in the news almost every day for one reason or another.
“Uh, the Justice League is a group of heroes that protect Earth? They’ve fought off alien invasions and saved lives and things like that? Because of my strength I usually help fight off meta humans who want to conquer the world or steal stuff.”
The two teens looked completely baffled and Cassie just gave up trying to catalog the red flags in this town and just marked the whole thing as FUBAR. She would probably need the help of the rest of Young Justice to get this sorted, or maybe even the full League.
“Well, ‘Wonder Girl’ my name’s Sam and-”
“Wait, Samantha Manson?” Cassie ignored the implied finger quotes around her hero name in her excitement that she may have just found one of the people she was looking for.
“My name is Sam.” Sam snapped.
Cassie ignored her clear irritation and unrolled the scroll she had been given, ice and frost cracking and flaking off as she did so. If Sam Manson was here, it made sense that she would know the other heroes the Olympians were looking for. Cassie closely examined the list she had before looking up at the boy. He didn’t look like a Jazz, or Danielle, he might be a Dan or Phantom himself, but considering his collection of tech she could see, she had a good guess of who he could be.
“And that means, you must be Tucker Foley!” Cassie said triumphantly.
Both of the teens now looked at her with even more wariness than before. That made sense considering what Cassie had seen, but she now had part of her mission objective in front of her. She dismissed the stealth mode on her costume, flicked her wrist to unfurl her lightning lasso and allowed some of her ‘demi-god aura’ out.
“I am from the Justice League, and I am a hero, but I am also a daughter of Zeus, and I have been sent here on a mission from Olympus to summon the heroes of this town to come to our aid. It is only right that I assist you in any way I can from the troubles you currently face.”
“What?” “What?”

Sleep Without You
Title: Sleep Without You
Song Inspiration: Sleep Without You by Brett Young
Characters: Reader, Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Eileen, Mary, Jody, Donna, Charlie
Word Count: 2,082
Warnings: Reader gets drunk, fluff
Author’s Note: This story is not canon compliant because I prefer my characters alive and happy.
Tumblr media
“Do not make us come in there and take her, Dean,” Jody says through your bedroom door. You throw your head back and laugh from where you’re standing over the bathroom sink. Dean rolls his eyes from where he’d been watching you get ready. He walks over to the door and pulls it open with a dramatic huff.
“I’m not holding her hostage,” he tells the small group of women he finds waiting. Jody looks past him and you stick your head out of the bathroom.
“I’m almost ready. Sorry,” you apologize. Donna looks between the two of you suspiciously.
“There was definitely some hanky-panky going on here,” she says. Dean rolls his eyes again and walks back over to the bed, taking a seat on the edge. You laugh but blush despite yourself. She wasn’t wrong. The second Dean had seen you in the little red dress, he couldn’t keep his hands to himself.
“Honestly, I’ll meet you at the car in five minutes,” you tell them. Eileen laughs and nudges the two other women down the hall, sending a wink back at you before she disappears herself. You quickly slip into a strappy pair of matching red heels and can feel Dean’s eyes still on you. “Stop.”
“I’m not doing anything!!” He says, defensively.
“No, but you’re thinking about it,” you laugh. Standing to your full height, you hold your arms out and turn in a slow circle. “Alright. How do I look?”
“Too damn good,” he compliments. You smile as you step over to him, his hands coming to rest on your hips. “Don’t get to see you all dolled up like this too often. Without it being for a case at least.”
“I know. This is actually so…normal,” you say, shaking your head slightly. “A bachelorette party.”
“Can’t believe they’re actually getting married,” Dean muses.
“Little Sammy’s all grown up,” you tease, giving his shoulders a squeeze.
“Mmmm,” he hums. “Least this time he got my blessing.” You laugh and shake your head. “You should go before the search party comes back.” Leaning down, you give him a quick kiss.
“Don’t wait up,” you tell him. He laughs lightly and gives your hips a gentle squeeze.
“Don’t party too hard,” he says. You can’t help but laugh again.
“The party consists of the bride-to-be, myself, your mother, two officers of the law who might as well be your mother and your aunt, and a lesbian. I make no promises,” you say as you run a hand through his hair. He gives you a smile and shakes his head.
“Sammy and I will work on the bail money,” he jokes.
“Much appreciated,” you laugh and take a step back for him to stand. He takes your face in his hands and kisses you tenderly. The two of you stand there for a moment, enjoying each other’s presence.
“Y/N!” Mary calls your name as she comes down the hallway.
“Whoops! They sent the big guns this time,” you say, stepping away from Dean. He laughs as he follows you to the door and leans against the frame, crossing his arms.
“Be careful. Have fun,” he says as Mary takes you by the elbow. You wink back at Dean and give him a wave as you stumble along behind his mother.
***
“Don’t wait up.”
Those had been your instructions to Dean. He had tried to follow them. He knew you all would be out late so he made a valiant effort to turn in for the night around 12:30. The scent of your shampoo on the pillow next to him was too much to bear.
At 12:35, he made his way back to the library and poured himself a glass of whiskey. Sitting back in one of the chairs, he pulls his phone out and smiles at the picture of you grinning back at him.
At 12:40, Sam wanders back into the library. He pauses when he sees his older brother. Dean looks up at him and chuckles.
“Couldn’t sleep either?” He asks. Sam shakes his head as he walks over and sits across from Dean who pours a second glass. “What was it for you?” Sam swirls the glass slowly and cuts his eyes up at his brother.
“She usually plays with my hair while I go to sleep,” he admits, a bit embarrassed. Dean smiles and shakes his head, taking a drink. “You?”
“Pillow smelled too damn much like her,” he says, as though it were completely obvious. Now it’s Sam’s turn to shake his head.
“What happened to us?” He laughs. Dean shrugs, glancing back at his phone screen. “I mean…I’m getting married in a couple weeks. What?”
“Nah. I always saw that for you,” Dean says, looking at his younger brother. Sam gives him a skeptical look. Dean shrugs in response. “Hoped for it at least. You deserve it.”
“Just not with Becky?” Sam asks, trying not to smile.
“Eileen is a much better choice. Hands down,” Dean laughs. Sam laughs as well.
The two brothers sit in silence for a little while, each taking sips from their respective glasses. Sam watches his brother pour himself another glass before finally speaking again.
“You deserve it too, ya know,” Sam says simply. Dean looks at him curiously. “Your relationship with Y/N. Being happy and…and loved.”
“I haven’t done a thing to deserve Y/N loving me the way she does,” he says. Sam frowns but Dean gives him a smile. “And yet she keeps on doing it anyways.”
“I understand that,” Sam agrees, raising his glass slightly. Another silent moment passes as Sam gathers the courage to ask his next question. “Have you thought about it?”
“Thought about what?” Dean asks, raising an eyebrow.
“Marriage,” Sam says, making some elaborate, grand gesture with his hands. Dean laughs at Sam’s awkwardness and looks into his glass again.
“I was about ready to ask Mom for her ring but, ugh…someone beat me to it,” he says, smiling at Sam now. Sam’s eyes widen quickly.
“Oh!! Dean, I’m sorry,” he rattles off quickly. Dean laughs and holds a hand up.
“It’s fine. You got to it first, fair and square,” he says, standing and walking across the library. He stops at a lockbox sitting on one of the shelves and quickly puts in a combination. Sam watches his brother, curiously, as Dean removes something from the box. “Had to hustle a hell of a lot of pool but…” He walks back to his seat and holds up a simple but beautiful diamond ring. Sam stares it for a moment before looking at his brother, wide eyed.
“How long have you had that?” He asks. Dean shrugs, examining the ring between his fingers.
“Bought it about two weeks after you asked Eileen,” Dean recounts. “I’d been thinking about it for a while. Almost asked Mom, like I said. I just wasn’t sure if Y/N would go for it. What we have now is one thing. Marriage is whole other one. Then when you asked Eileen…I could see it in her eyes.”
“That was months ago. Why haven’t you asked her yet?” Sam questions.
“Didn’t wanna feel like I was just copying you or trying to steal anyone’s thunder,” Dean explains, going back to the box. “I’ll give it a little time. Let you and Eileen have your moment. Then I’ll ask.”
“Neither of us would care. We’d be thrilled for you both,” Sam tells him. Dean smiles and shrugs, putting the ring away again. He closes the box and relocks it.
“I’ve waited this long. A few more weeks won’t hurt,” Dean says. Sam smiles a little and nods as Dean comes back to his seat. Dean stretches and looks at his phone again. “Now, the real question…is when are you two gonna make me an uncle?” Sam sputters on his drink, quickly setting the glass down. Dean roars with laughter as the door to the war room opens up.
“Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play…and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate…but I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake…shake it off, shake it off…” You, Eileen, and Charlie all come in singing together, arms around each other. You all three stumble through a few very uncoordinated hip shimmies.
“Dear God. They are wasted,” Dean laughs. Mary runs around in front of your small choir and heads you off at the stairs.
“A little help?” She calls down to her sons. The two brothers get up quickly and make their way up the stairs. Sam wraps an arm around Eileen’s waist and starts to help her down the stairs as she giggles. Mary assists Charlie who grips the handrail as the room starts to spin on her. You cross your arms as Dean comes over to you.
“I told you not to wait up,” you scold him. He laughs and shakes his head, hands coming to rest on your hips.
“I tried, promise. Turns out I just can’t sleep without my girl,” he says, pulling you closer quickly. You let out a squeal as you stumble and fall into him. Before you have a second to process what’s happening, Dean scoops you up into his arms and starts to carry you down the stairs.
“I could have walked,” you mumble, wrapping your arms around his neck. He rolls his eyes at your protest.
“You wouldn’t have made it two steps,” he teases. “I’ll put you down if you want.”
“No!!” You exclaim, tightening your arms slightly. He laughs and nods.
“That’s what I thought.”
“These three,” Mary says, pointing between all three of you. “Are not allowed to go out drinking again.”
“Herding cats?” Sam asks. Mary scoffs a laugh.
“Cats would have been easier,” she says. Dean looks down at you and smirks.
“Did you not behave for Mom?” He asks. Your shoulders bob up and down as you smile at him coyly.
“Why? You gonna punish me?” You ask with a wink.
“Oh my God,” Mary mutters, quickly leading a still dizzy Charlie towards the hall. Dean laughs wildly as he goes to follow.
“You’re gonna be so hungover tomorrow,” he says. He glances back at Sam and finds Eileen gently running her fingers through his hair. “Sleep tight, little brother.” Sam looks up at him and smiles.
“You too.”
Dean carries you down to your bedroom and tosses you on to the bed, eliciting another squeal from you. You kick off your heels as he goes through the dresser, finding one of his old t-shirts you’d claimed ages ago. He helps you change out of your dress and into the shirt with ease. You fall back onto the bed with a huff and close your eyes.
“Hold on,” Dean says, going into the bathroom. He comes back out a second later with a makeup wipe and sits next to you on the bed. You giggle as he gently and carefully wipes your makeup away. “What’s so funny?”
“Big, bad, monster-killing, Dean Winchester is taking my makeup off for me,” you tease. He rolls his eyes.
“You’d be pissed in the morning if you woke up with all this still on,” he says. He takes extra care around your eyes before finally finishing. “There.” He tosses the wipe into a nearby trash can.
Dean lays down on the bed next to you and you immediately roll over to face him, moving into his side. He lays an arm across your waist, pulling you even closer. Kissing your hair, he breathes in your scent and sighs. You giggle again.
“What now?” He asks.
“You love me,” you say. Dean laughs softly and nods, pushing your hair from your face.
“Yea, I do,” he agrees. You break into a wide grin as you close your eyes. “In fact, I’m gonna marry you, Y/N.” You giggle again and nod.
“I get to be the bachelorette next time,” you say. He laughs again and kisses your forehead.
“Mom’s gonna be thrilled.”
The next morning, Dean has aspirin and water ready by the bed for you when you wake up. You remember nothing from the majority of the night before, especially anything from when you all returned to the bunker. But when you catch the bouquet at Sam and Eileen’s wedding and see the look on Dean’s face, a fragment of a conversation comes back to you.
I’m gonna marry you, Y/N.

A lot of the time I feel empty, hurt, and confused. But it all seems to disappear when it comes to you. I know who I want to be around you. You make me want to do better, and because of you I am better.
But as high as you make me feel the fall when you leave is deeper than before.

Actually re: all my gushing about Donna & Sam, the real core reason why they can’t (singularly) be together long term is that Sam thrives in violent situations and Donna Does Not LMAO
The deeper Sam got with Donna the more he really wanted to develop their dynamic into what he and Mara had (only the roles being reversed); I think post them breaking up is really when it solidifies for Sam that Mara wasn’t good for him and it isn’t a dynamic he should be trying to model ever again LMFAO Donna can only be ride or die so much—they fled their home because of violence and they don’t want to get wrapped back up in that kind of lifestyle (vs Sam who doesn’t blink at assassination attempts and starts fights whenever he feels like it lmfao)
Everything really came to a head when Asra got involved; Sam couldn’t pretend to play nice with them knowing they were trying to dig around into his business, and Donna wasn’t going to let another violent man break up the home they made for themself and Asra. Valerius is honestly a breath of fresh air because he isn’t going to throw hands with someone, he’s just gonna fuck their dad and maybe call them poor LMFAOOO
Sam has definitely LEARNED from all of that and it’s why he isn’t bitter Donna ended things (he’s bitter they threw out all his sentimental gifts tho lololol), and it’s why they’re much better as….. whatever they are LMAO there’s no more secrets, no more games, Donna fully gets Sam and he really understands them in a different way

Firefighter!Dean Winchester x Fem!Reader

A/N: Please, please let me know if you like it, I appreciate all your comments.
Tumblr media
5:00 am.
You woke up from a restless sleep, you had something in mind and there was only one thing you wondered about.
Did you have enough pie?
Captain Winchester had said he would be there first thing in the morning and expressed a deep love for your pie recipe. You knew you shouldn’t let on how excited you were about seeing him again, and it was probably best if he didn’t know you cared that much.
But you did care, So fuck that.
You needed to be sure to have all the pie you needed.
5:30 am.
You slipped into your robe and made your way down the stairs that led directly from your apartment to the bakery below.
Sure, you could’ve used your kitchen upstairs, but where was the fun in that? Living right above your shop meant you didn’t have to worry about dishes, especially when Donna would be downstairs to help in the shop’s kitchen.
You opened your apartment door and descended the familiar stairs. The cold and the quiet darkness greeted you as you reached the bottom. The large glass windows of the shop let in just enough light from outside to guide your steps toward the kitchen door, where the smell of dough still lingered in the air.
6:00 am
You preheated the oven while you start with the pie fillings.
The kitchen was getting warmer and warmer and your arms started to get sore from kneading the dough.
6:40 am.
The first batch went to the oven.
7:30 am
You set the pies down on the table.
You’d probably gone a little overboard, apple, pecan, cherry, peach, pumpkin, rhubarb, sweet potato, banana cream, lemon meringue, and a few experimental flavors you hadn’t even tasted yet.
Damn, you really went all out.
You sat in front of the pies, trying not to overthink it, but the self-doubt crept in. Was this too much? You didn’t want anyone to think you were some obsessive bitch. Your mind spiraled, Maybe you should’ve just stuck to the basics, and the lecture looped on repeat, getting louder and louder.
Then, you heard the unmistakable sound of a car pulling into the driveway, followed by the rhythmic stomp of boots hitting the ground.
Your eyes went wide with horror. Charlie was here.
Panicking, you ran, making sure everything was off as you rushed upstairs. You jump into the bathroom, turning on the shower.
——
“Oh hey, boss.” The redhead flashed you a grin as you walked into the bakery.
“Hey, Charlie. How’s everything going?” You returned the smile, trying to shake off the lingering nervousness.
“Just opened. Looks like you’re ready for the day, showered and everything.”
“Yeah, I slept through my alarm, so I figured I’d better be presentable.”
“Uh-huh, sure. Was it really for looking presentable, though? Or for washing away the evidence of the hundred pies you baked? Did you even sleep last night?” She placed a hand on her hip, her teasing grin never fading.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You furrowed your brows in exaggerated confusion, trying to play it cool.
“Oh, come on. Poor Donna walked in and nearly had a heart attack when she saw all those dishes.” She laughed, shaking her head.
“Well, poor Donna will be getting a bonus this month.” you said with a shrug.
“Oh, I already made sure of that.” She grabbed her apron and tossed yours at you. “But seriously, what’s all this about?”
“The hot firefighter,” you said nonchalantly.
“Oh, he’s coming today? That’s why you baked for an army?”
“I just didn’t know which pie is his favorite,” you muttered, a little defensive. “Be honest, am I an over-the-top weirdo?”
“Oh, honey, you’ve always been one.” She smirked. “But don’t worry, I’m sure you will be his favorite pie flavor.”
“Oh, shut it.” You rolled your eyes as you headed for the kitchen.
“I’ll let you know when your hot firefighter arrives,” Charlie called after you, her voice full of mischief.
——
“Excuse me, I’m looking for the owner of this place.”
The redhead frowned in confusion, looking up to meet a pair of bright green eyes.
“Oh, you must be the firefighter,” she said with a smile, her expression lightening.
“How did you know?” Dean asked, a little surprised.
“A hunch.” She smiled again and knocked on the door behind the counter. “Hey, boss, the hot firefighter is here.”
Damn Charlie.
Dean’s gaze followed the sound of the door opening, his eyes falling on you as you emerged from the kitchen. Your ponytail was neatly in place, your skin glowing, and your perfect lips tinted in a soft pink.
“Hey, Captain,” you greeted, your smile warm.
“You can call me Dean, sweetheart,” he replied, his eyes twinkling.
“Dean it is.” You took two large pastry boxes and set them down on the counter with a graceful motion. “I pre-selected some pies for you, but feel free to pick anything else you like from the display.” You gestured toward the desserts on the display refrigerator.
“You sure about this?” Dean raised an eyebrow, eyeing the boxes. “Sweetheart, this is a lot of food. You’re losing money.”
“It’s okay, really,” you said with a reassuring smile.
“You sure?” he pressed, clearly not convinced.
You nodded. “And it's not entirely free. It's for the small price of saving my life.”
“But that’s my job.” He chuckled. “Tell you what,” he added, suddenly more serious. “I’ll take all of this if you agree to go on a date with me tomorrow night.”
You flashed him a bright, teasing smile. “You have yourself a deal.”
“Amazing.” Dean lifted the pastry boxes effortlessly. As he looked around, he noticed a box of bakery business cards sitting on the counter. “Is this your number?” he asked, pointing to the cards.
You shook your head. “It’s the bakery’s number, you call there if you want a three-floor cake for your quinceañera.” you said, reaching under the counter for your card. You shoved Charlie out of the way with a playful shove and handed it to Dean. “This one’s mine.”
“I’ll make sure to call you,” he said with a wink.
“You better,” you replied with a sly smile
“Bye, redhead.”
Charlie looked at you with a big smile on her face. “Look at you, all lit up like a Christmas tree.”
——
Jo sat in the common room, watching Sam arrive alone. She raised an eyebrow, confused.
"Hey, Sam!" she greeted. "Did you come in alone?" In all her years at the firehouse, she'd never seen the brothers show up separately.
"Oh, yeah. Dean wanted to stop by the bakery before shift, and I had some errands to run here." Sam explained.
"He went to the bakery and left you behind?" Jo’s tone was more indignant than she intended.
"Well, it's not like that. I do have my own car." Sam tried to clarify, but Jo wasn’t listening. She was too focused on Dean’s absence.
"Amazing. All that just to chase the baker’s skirt?" Sam blinked in surprise.
"Uh, no. I actually think it’s more than that," Sam replied, shifting uncomfortably.
"What do you mean?" Jo asked, leaning in, skeptical.
"I just think he’s ready to date again after the Amara thing." Sam said quietly.
That left Jo momentarily speechless. But before she could react, Dean walked into the firehouse, holding a box of your baked goods. Behind him, a few of the firefighters eagerly followed, eyeing the treats.
"Unbelievable. All this for a dozen of overpriced cookies?" Jo muttered.
"Oh, they’re not overpriced," Dean said with a grin. "And totally worth it. You should try one."
Jo shook her head, refusing the offer.
Dean smirked at Sam while holding up a card. "And guess who has a date tomorrow?"
Jo sighed, rolling her eyes as she turned and headed towards the locker room.
"What’s her deal?" Dean asked, glancing at Sam.
Sam just shrugged.
A sudden emergency interrupted the brothers' conversation, forcing Dean to leave everything on the kitchen table, your personal card included, resting there on top of the pastry boxes.
“Don’t touch my pie!” he shouted, rushing toward the truck.
In the chaos, as firefighters scrambled to manage the scene, your card was knocked to the floor and landed near Jo’s ankle boots.
She looked down at it, her mind racing. For a moment, she considered picking it up, but she quickly dismissed the idea. Instead, she nudged it away with her foot, pushing it down the kitchen aisle. No one would notice, and no one would be hurt by it. Dean would have more time to heal, away from any distractions, and you wouldn’t become just another notch in his belt.
It wasn’t that she hated you, but seeing that card made something twist uncomfortably in her chest. She wasn’t blind to what was happening between you and Dean, but she wasn’t about to let him fall for someone like you, not when he needed space, not when he still had so much to work through. But that moment wasn’t just about protecting Dean’s heart, no, it was about protecting her own, too.
She quickly washed away any sign of guilt on her face and followed everyone to the trucks.
——
"Where the hell is it?" Dean was frantically tossing items around the kitchen.
"Oh, God, Dean!" Bobby's voice cut through the chaos. "What are you doing? Look at this place."
"I left it here, and now it's gone."
"Food doesn't last long around here, son."
"No, not the food, the number. Her number." Bobby raised an eyebrow in confusion. "She gave it to me, and now it has disappeared. I haven't called her yet, and she's gonna think I’m just another player."
"But you kinda are," Bobby said.
It was true. Since the whole Amara thing, Dean had been... well, a little too generous with his attention to women, leaving a trail of broken hearts in his way. But this was different. Bobby had never seen Dean like this before.
"Not the point, Bobby." Dean sighed, clearly frustrated.
Bobby, looking a little too pleased with himself, placed a hand on Dean's shoulder.
"Let me tell you what, son. Your truck’s almost out of gas. Why don’t you and the boys take it to the station, and fill the tank? And hey, make sure you take the street that passes near the bakery, just to, you know, say hello."
Dean’s eyes lit up, a grin spreading across his face as he grabbed his jacket.
"You’re a genius, Chief."
Dean quickly gathered the crew and jumped into his truck, headed straight for you. Bobby stood watching him go, a satisfied smile on his face. He glanced at the pie Dean had been saving for himself, shrugged, and cut himself a piece before heading to his office. After all, he was alone. No one would ever know.
——
“Uh, Boss?” Charlie’s voice floated in as she gently knocked on the kitchen door.
“Yes, Charlie?” You didn’t look up, still focused on decorating your cupcakes.
“Remember that hot firefighter?” she asked, peeking in.
You raised an eyebrow but didn’t stop piping icing. “Yeah?”
“I think you might want to go outside,” she said, a mischievous smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
Confused, you looked up from your work. “What? Why?”
Donna appeared beside Charlie, quickly swiping the pastry bag from your hands. “I’ll finish these for you. Go on.”
You raised your hands in mock surrender. “Fine.” You stood up, but Charlie stopped you.
“Let me fix this.” She patted your head, brushing away what was probably powdered sugar. “Go.”
Still confused, you walked toward the door, but as soon as you saw the red glow outside, everything clicked. Your glass door was tinted red from the reflection of a massive fire truck parked in front of your shop.
And then you saw him.
Dean.
He was wearing his navy firefighter jacket, the one with the logo of his station on the sleeve. He looked unreal.
You opened the door, trying to act casual, though your heart was racing. You took a quick glance at the fire truck again, then back to him.
“Captain?” you chuckled, your voice betraying a touch of nervousness. “Everything okay?”
Dean took a step forward, glancing around before entering your shop. “Sorry about blocking your driveway, Sweetheart. I just... didn’t want you to think I’m some player for not texting you.”
You blinked, caught off guard, but nodded for him to continue. You had noticed his lack of texting, but with the craziness of the shop, you hadn’t had time to think about it.
“I lost your number,” he said, a genuine tone of sorrow in his voice.
You smirked and held out your hand. “Your phone, Captain.”
He pulled out his cell and handed it to you without hesitation.
“No password?” you teased, glancing at him while you added your number.
“Got nothing to hide, especially not from you, sweetheart,” he said with a playful grin.
You raised an eyebrow. “We’ll see.”
“Date’s still on for tomorrow. I’ll text you the details.”
“Just don’t lose the phone,” you shot back, your lips curling into a smile.
He grinned. “Oh, that’s funny, sweetheart.” Then, before you could say anything else, he leaned in and brushed a kiss on your cheek. “See you then.”
“Bye, Captain,” you called after him, a flutter in your chest as you watched him walk away.
“Marry him.” Donna said behind you, you just rolled your eyes and laughed.
Dean got inside the truck and looked at his brother with a big smile on his face.
“What?”
“Oh, you’re going to fall so hard.”
“Is that a threat, Sammy?” Sam rolled his eyes.
“Whatever lover boy.”
——
You paced back and forth in your living room, anxiety bubbling up as you glanced at the clock. You’d already changed outfits four times, and you still weren’t sure if you’d chosen the right one.
Donna and Charlie had decided to stay past their shifts to help, but you were still second-guessing yourself.
“I’m sure he’d like you even if you were wearing a potato sack,” Donna said, her voice light as she sipped her wine.
“You think?” you asked, eyeing yourself in the mirror.
“Of course. Girl, he’s smitten,” Donna replied, her confidence unwavering.
You traced the hem of your red dress, frowning as you considered her words. You glanced in the mirror, smoothing your hands over the red dress you’d finally settled on. It hugged you in all the right places.
“Hey, the bakery’s closed,” Charlie said as she entered, but she stopped in her tracks when she saw you. “Oh, he’s going to lose his mind. You look very hot.”
You smiled. “Thank you, Charlie.”
“I’m glad we stuck with this one after the hundred dresses you tried on.” Charlie’s teasing tone made you roll your eyes.
Before you could answer, your phone buzzed. You checked the screen, it was Dean. He’d arrived.
Donna and Charlie wasted no time, ushering you toward the door before you could glance at yourself in the mirror one more time.
You stepped outside, and there he was leaning casually against his Impala, a bouquet of flowers in hand. The sight of him stopped you in your tracks. His head turned at the sound of the door, and his breath visibly caught the second he saw you.
Dean’s gaze swept over you, slow and deliberate, his green eyes lingering as if he were memorizing every inch of you. He straightened up, his usual confidence faltering for just a moment as his lips curved into a lopsided smile.
“Hey, Sweetheart.” he said, his voice deeper than usual. “You look…wow.”
Heat bloomed in your chest as you walked toward him. “Hi, Dean. These are beautiful.”
“They’re nothing compared to you,” he said softly, handing you the bouquet without breaking eye contact.
“Let me get them in water so we can get going.” You turned to head back inside, but before you could, Charlie popped her head out the door.
“I’ve got it,” she said, grabbing the bouquet and shooing you back outside. You didn’t even notice she followed you downstairs.
Dean opened the car door for you, His hand brushed your back lightly as you slid inside, the small touch sending a spark through you.  As you slid into the passenger seat, you smiled at the familiar scent of leather of his car apparently named Baby.
Even at the restaurant, he was attentive, pulling out your chair for you to sit on.
“Tell me about you,” he said, leaning forward. “I want to know everything.”
You smiled, your nerves starting to ease. “Well, I inherited my bakery from my grandparents. It’s been my passion since I was little. My parents moved away, so it’s just me keeping the place running.”
Dean nodded, his eyes never leaving your face. There was something in the way he looked at you like you were the only person in the room.
His expression softened. “That’s impressive. Takes guts to keep something like that alive.” he said quietly, and the sincerity in his voice made your breath hitch.
“What about you?” you asked, trying to shift the focus back to him.
“When I was four, my family was in a fire,” he began, his voice steady but tinged with something deeper, you instinctively reached out, placing your hand on his. He dropped his gaze to where your fingers touched, his lips curving into a small smile.
Dean’s expression softened as he took a deep breath. “When I was four, my family was in a fire. I’ve admired firefighters ever since and followed them around. That’s how I met Bobby, our chief. He took me under his wing and helped me get started as a Junior firefighter. And now years later, I’m the Captain.”
You gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “You’re really determined, aren’t you?”
He chuckled. “Guess I am. But when I’m not on shift, I work on cars. Baby keeps me busy, and I fix up my friends' cars too. If I wasn’t a firefighter, I’d probably be a mechanic.”
“Funny. If I wasn’t a baker, I’d have been a ballerina,” you said, grinning.
He raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eyes. “Oh, really? I think you should still do it. You’d look amazing in a tutu.”
The evening unfolded with laughter, easy conversation, and lingering glances. There was undeniable chemistry between you two, sparks flying every time his hand brushed yours, every time you caught his smile.
When dinner ended, By the time he walked you to your door, the tension between you was palpable.
“Thank you for tonight,” you said, smiling up at him. “But next time... I think we should go for a burger.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “So, the rumors are true.”
You raised an eyebrow. “What rumors?”
“That you’re going to be my downfall.” He stepped closer, his voice dropping. “I’ve been dying to do something all night.”
Your breath caught as he tilted your chin up, his lips hovering just a whisper away.
“Can I kiss you?”  he asked, his voice rough and quiet like he was holding back everything he felt.
Your heart thundered in your chest, and all you could manage was a soft, “Please.”
He leaned in slowly, as if giving you the chance to pull away but when his lips finally touched yours, the world seemed to stop. His kiss was soft at first, a hesitant brush of warmth that sent a rush of heat through your entire body.
But when you tilted your head, leaning into him, he deepened the kiss with a quiet groan. His hand slid to the small of your back, pulling you closer, while his other hand cupped your face as if you were something fragile.
His lips moved against yours with a fervor that left you breathless, every motion speaking of the longing he’d been holding back all night. He kissed you like you were the only thing he wanted in the world, savoring your lips every second.
The faint taste of whiskey lingered on his lips, mingling with the intoxicating scent of his cologne. The combination overwhelmed your senses, making you dizzy with how right it all felt.
When he finally pulled back, his forehead rested gently against yours, both of you struggling to catch your breath. His thumb brushed lightly against your cheek as if he was reluctant to let go.
“You’re even more dangerous than I thought,” he said, his lips brushing yours again in the faintest tease of a kiss.
“Dean,” you murmured, laughing softly, “you’d better not be married.”
The sudden tension in his body was subtle but undeniable. Something flickered in his eyes, gone almost as quickly as it appeared.
“Just joking,” you added quickly, brushing it off.
He smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes this time. “I know.” His hand trailing down to his side as if it pained him to stop touching you.
Still, before he left, he stole one last kiss, this one softer, a lingering moment that left you breathless all over again.
“See you tomorrow, sweetheart?” he asked, his voice low and full of affection.
“You’ll see me tomorrow, Captain.”

The Meeting
The Beginning of the New Pantheon: Part 3
Masterpost
“What do you mean, what?” Cassie demanded. “Do you know about Olympus and the Hellenic gods?”
“Yes, we know about the Greek gods!” Sam snapped. “We’re not stupid you know!”
“I’m just asking!” Cassie put her hands up in surrender. “I wasn’t certain if I had actually stumbled into an alternate dimension where instead of Olympians the domains were managed by sentient mayonnaise and the oceans were filled with shredded cheese.”
Her statement knocked both of them onto their back foot in a way that announcing she was on a mission from Zeus didn’t. Maybe they were used to higher powers reaching out with missions?
“Has that actually happened?” Tucker asked.
Cassie took a moment to think about all of the weird alternate realities she and Young Justice had gone through.
“Uh… not exactly, but pretty close sometimes.” Cassie said. She pulled out her JL comm “Anyways! I’m going to call for backup. I can explain more once they are on the way.”
“You probably won’t get very much range on that thing.” Tucker said, looking at her comm.
“Wha…t?” She looked down at her comm in confusion.
The top of the line Wayne Tech communication device that Red Robin had personally modded and improved even beyond the rest of the League’s equipment was now a generic two way radio. Like something fresh from the box at Radio Shack, from back when Radio Shack still existed and was popular. Her confusion changed to mounting horror as she pulled out the palm computer that was capable of hacking into the pentagon and instead revealed a flip phone capable of playing snake (maybe).
“Ok, while not an alternate universe full of mayonnaise, Amity Park is still apparently trapped backwards in time, and all technology is forced to match. Cool. Cool. That might make calling for help a little difficult.”
Sam looked sympathetic as Cassie tried to contain her freak out. Tucker looked curious at the thought of whatever advanced technology that might be available outside the city. Cassie took a deep breath and steadied herself.
“I’ll go for help personally as soon as I can, but in the meantime, I’m here now. If you two or Phantom need any help, I’ll do whatever I can.” Cassie declared, her voice once more steady and sure.
“How do you know Phantom?” Sam demanded.
Before Cassie could respond or explain, a wailing claxon sounded, the loudspeakers screaming a warning of some kind. Both Sam and Tucker tensed and Cassie prepared for a fight, whatever was coming, she would be here to help.
.
Donna gave a small sigh of relief as she touched down just outside Titans Tower. Nightwing was there to greet her, and it was clear that the rest of those she had asked for were already here. She led the way to the Tower’s war room. By the time she had settled at the head, the rest of the table was full. Not everyone present would be part of the New Pantheon, but she knew those who would be needed the support from the rest.
“Thank you all for meeting me so quickly.” Donna started. “Diana, Cassie and myself have just returned after being summoned to Mount Olympus by Zeus himself.”
Everyone in the room sat forward, laser focused on her. She had to take a steadying breath. Sure, Zeus had named her the next Queen of Olympus, and it would be her duty to guide and lead the New Pantheon, but she was not alone. She had friends here, allies, some who would share the responsibilities, some who would willingly follow her orders. They could take the domains of the gods and make something better of them, for the whole planet.
“They gave us dire news, and a mission, a larger mission than any we have faced before.” She watched as the others tensed, ready to spring into action, so she raised her hands a little. “The Earth is not currently in any danger. The threat that they foresee will come in decades, not days.” The room relaxed, the air feeling breathable once more. “Since we have been given the time to prepare, we can prevent what they predicted from impacting the denizens of Earth.”
“Well then, what is this threat, so that we may vanquish?” Damian demanded, his hand tightly grasping a weapon, his chest puffed out so he could make up for his short stature. Donna carefully hid, her grin, he would not appreciate being taken less seriously.
“The Gods of Olympus are dying.” Donna said, then she continued on to explain what she, Diana and Cassie had been told.
“I’m not certain I trust when they say that there is nothing that can be done.” Red Robin said, leaning forward while he thought. “We’ve faced impossible and improbable before and succeeded.”
“That’s true, but in the meantime, we should consider the option that has been provided, successors to the gods chosen from among our numbers.” Donna said, she knew no matter what she said that there would be some of them who would try and find an alternative, she wasn’t certain there was one, Greeks in general and the Olympians in particular weren’t known for giving up without a fight, at least as long as they had any other option.
“Who was chosen to be a successor?” Impulse asked, then zipped around to the other side of the table, an armful of snacks appearing in his arms.
“I was chosen by Zeus to be his successor and the next Queen of Olympus.” Donna said.
She had mentally braced herself for disparaging remarks or someone contesting her potential rule, instead she was surprised by the outpouring of support from her companions. Everyone seemed to feel that Zeus had chosen well and that she deserved her future role.
“You definitely should be Queen, but I’m kind of surprised Cassie didn’t end up as Zeus’ successor considering the whole lightning lasso thing she’s got going on.” Kon said.
“Cassie was chosen by Ares to be his successor.”
Donna could see the other three members of Young Justice scowl at the God of War’s involvement, except Dick quickly snapped his fingers at them.
“Hey let’s keep our diplomatic faces on for the time being. I’m sure some of us aren’t happy with some of these decisions, but the last thing we want is for this to devolve into an unnecessary conflict with the Olympians.”
She smiled at him, glad for his support. The Olympians ruled through a monarchy, and the League teams knew they needed a single leader during a crisis, but maybe this New Pantheon could rule with something more egalitarian.
“And speaking of our Boy Wonder, Nightwing, you were chosen by Apollo to be his successor. The League’s Sunshine boy will be our God of Light.” Donna announced with a smile, but when she met Dick’s eyes she knew he could see more truth in her words. Apollo was not just a god of light, he was also a God of Truth, which made perfect sense for a detective like Dick. Plus there were few who could equal Apollo’s wrath when scorned.
“Wait, does that mean he’s your kid?” The younger Superboy, Jon asked.
“We are not literally becoming the gods, we are taking their place.” Donna said quickly before anyone could get any weird ideas. “So no one needs to marry their sibling, no one needs to eat their children, and I will not be leaving a bunch of demi-god bastards all over the planet.”
“If Cassie was chosen by Ares, where is she?” Impulse asked. “Did he already make her a god and we missed it?”
“No. The Olympians agreed not to elevate anyone until all of their chosen successors were together. Cassie went to make contact with a group of heroes who were not in the League database.” Donna watched as Red Robin frowned and started to type on his wrist computer. “According to Cassie they weren’t even on the super secret Young Justice only database that the rest of us are supposed to pretend we don’t know about.”
His frown grew more pronounced and Dick smiled and reached over and ruffled his hair.
“So who are these heroes we’ve apparently never heard of, but have caught the attention of the Olympians?” Dick asked, half to take the attention off Tim and half out of genuine curiosity.
“None of them have names I recognize, half of them don’t even have hero names, just regular civilian names.” Donna replied as she pulled out her copy of the list. She had less information on the new heroes as reaching out to them wasn’t her responsibility.
“Maybe it's something like Constantine?” Stephanie asked. “He’s always just known by his full name, even though his enemies call him the Hellblazer.”
“They could also face magical threats of some kind.” Raven said, her hair floating a little and the shadow under her writhing for a moment. “Demonic incursions are usually handled without the input or knowledge of the rest of the League.”
Donna bit her lip. As a demi-god, Cassie was one of the better members of the younger heroes to face a magical threat, but it was very possible for her to get in over her head. She would trust the younger girl, but if she didn’t report back by the time the rest of Young Justice and the Teen Titans were informed and gotten over their respective fits about it, she would have to go herself to ensure that Cassie was safe.
Though how much trouble could she really get into in the middle of the country?

MORE Random West Wing Headcanons bc I said so
Tumblr media
i’ve gotten back into the show recently (esp bc i understand all the politics and crap) and i feel the need to talk about my favorite dysfunctional political administration
in the first post i made, i said ainsley and sam dated for two years before breaking up. well that breakup didn’t last very long. a month later, they started dating again. from that point, on they never left each others side. they live in georgetown with a rottweiler and four kids.
after being really involved in solving a finance crisis, josh was invited to throw the first pitch at the Mets game. when the camera zoomed in on him, he was visibly emotional.
donna was over at josh’s apartment so much during his recovery period, they’ve begun to have weekly movie nights. they continue this tradition even after marriage and kids.
josh and donna’s house has a wall in the hallway of their house when you first enter that is covered with their kids’ handprints - at first, it was just their oldest being naughty but they let it grow into the Moss-Lyman art exhibit. even sam and ainsley’s kids, and toby and andy’s kids have added their prints to the wall
there’s a weekend every summer where all of senior staff and their families come up to Manchester and stay on the Bartlet Farm at Abbey’s insistence - she wears the title of “Grandma Abbey” proudly
at the inaugural ball (aka s4 josh & donna), josh and donna spend so much time together that a lot of the people there going to congratulate josh on getting bartlet’s second term mistake josh and donna for husband and wife - as a joke, donna and josh let people believe it
^^they end up getting quite the talking to from abbey - because she’s mad they didn’t tell her first (and cj, who has to field press questions the next day and they almost caused a domestic incident)
as an april fools day prank, zoey and charlie covered bartlet’s walls in the oval office with sticky notes - sam helped and wrote a “your mama” joke in latin as payback for bartlet having fun with the staff
josh has a terrible habit of biting the skin around his nails until they bleed - he doesn’t realize how bad it is until he turns some papers into the president with large drops of blood on them - donna keeps spare bandaids at her desk
toby likes to have a little fun with donna and say things to deliberately get a reaction out of her - some are truths, some are lies. one truth is that he likes beans on toast. donna called him clinically insane.
leo really likes musicals. can he sing? hardly ever. but on days he finds he needs to relax, he puts on the original cast recording of oklahoma and everything turns out okay
donna unofficially adopts a sickly kitten that lived in the trash near her apartment - she names it Brownie and nurses it back to health
^^Josh is allergic to Brownie but doesn’t say a word to Donna until after they’ve been married and had kids when they reach the age where they start asking for pets
Donna is sort of a multiple-threat kind of girl - she was an excitable kid so she grew up knowing how to do all kinds of things - these things are tap dance for seven years, karate for two years, horseback riding has been the only constant in her life, she can knit and sew, and she even speaks a little french - josh LOVES it when Donna speaks french
josh is always cold, he’s never run warm. donna knit a blanket for him as a birthday present. he’s never said anything but it’s one his favorite things in the whole world
donna actually likes hearing some of the president’s obscure historical tidbits - she even goes so far as to learning some of her own to exchange with him
toby visits the veteran’s grave that he buried every year and even talks to him a little while he’s there
it took a solid 20 minutes after donna had their first kid to let someone else hold him besides josh. the third person to hold their kid was bartlet.
^^^donna has never seen josh more in love than when he held their kid for the first time. cj took a photo of josh gazing at the little baby swaddled in blue clothing with visible tears streaking down his face. it’s one of donna’s favorite photos.
Sam is really good at hockey. He takes his kids to hockey games whenever he can.
