If I have to read one more avengers fic that basically just goes “-Hey guys I fixed it all so that they still live at the compound together by just having Steve sign the accords” I will lose my shit.

How many people have actually taken the time to research what the Sokovia Accords actually entail? Or the regulations it put on enhanced people such as Wanda and Steve? Because by their own definition Steve would come under that whether or not he remained Captain America.

Do you know who wouldn’t come under it if they simply gave up their technology? Tony Stark.

Whereas people like Wanda and Peter Parker would have to permanently wear a tracking monitor and could potentially be detained if they are suddenly decided to be a threat. There is also no specification on what a threat is, just that if they are seen to have the potential to cause harm then the government is permitted to hold them indefinitely without trial.

It is actually terrifying how similar the Sokovia Accords are to the Mutant Registration Act from the X-Men movies. But of course when it comes to down to it people are only choosing ‘Team Cap’ because of the Winter Soldier, not because they actually see how problematic the Accords are (which by the way if you search it up in the Marvel Universe was supported by Trump).

I understand why Tony signed it, he needed to relieve himself of the guilt, of the deaths that were on his shoulders. But at no point does the Accords offer to help or support those caught in the crossfire of an attack, just that the Avengers have to been approved to join the fight.

But also Tony can at any point get rid of his suit and no longer be considered as enhanced, whereas people like Steve, Bucky, Wanda and Peter (who he dragged into the situation) will forever have to be monitored as a danger of society and potentially be thrown into prison without so much as a fair trial if they so much as stepped one toe out of line just because it is a part of their biology.

What do you think they will do to people like Bruce Banner? Matt Murdock?

A big well done to Clint Barton and Sam Wilson, they saw issue in the Accords and knew the affect it wouldn’t just have on the world but on the people in their team.

hello friends and fans. i am super excited to welcome all my pals back to the latest episode of Laura Yaps About Until Dawn Remake. i've talked about the prologue here and here, and i plan on talking about other elements of the game (visuals, gameplay, narrative changes) whenever life and time allows.

before i go off about the character traits, thanks to @claarria for posting this handy side-by-side of old vs new. super helpful! i'll be using those images here.

and generally speaking, let it be known that i think the font change is so fucking ugly 💖 like god bless but it is so bad 💖💖 and they've made the layout so much less dynamic by just listing all the traits straight down, bullet point style?? it is all very microsoft powerpoint core and it sucks. anyway. onto the characters, in order of appearance.

off topic but very importantly, how did they fuck up sam's face THAT bad?? ballistic moon sapped the life out of her and now there is literally nothing behind those eyes. HOMEGIRL WAKE UP 👏👏

one trait change here: adventurous -> brave. not wrong, but super redundant, because brave is one of the character stats in the menu, so like. at any point when i'm playing her, i can pop in the menu and see exactly how brave she is. it's pointless to put it here.

i know everyone loves to hate on chris now, but he pushes to help sam even when it puts himself at risk and he goes to the shed to get josh even though josh just traumatized the hell out of him lmao. boy is loyal asf and i'm more than happy to see it replace methodical.

big changes here. i'm not jazzed to see confident go. i always thought smg included it purposefully, because this is how jess is trying to come across, even though she's actually insecure.

and imo trusting fits her far better than, say, driven. based on em's comment about her grades (and the fact that jess doesn't deny it lmao), i don't think she has much drive or ambition at this point in her life. she's always struck me as the kind of person who doesn't have a big dream or passion, and as high school graduation approaches she would feel sort of aimless? like she doesn't know where to go next.

i don't mean these as negatives, btw. jess is a top 3 ud character for me. i just don't think she's driven. and i think she is irreverent. and that's fine. 💖

emily

one change: persuasive -> forthright. like sam's change, this isn't wrong. emily is definitely forthright. but i don't like that we're shifting her further from mike (more on that later), and this change makes her use of words seem less purposeful. like she says what she wants just for the sake of it, instead of: she knows what to say to get people to do what she wants.

matt

matt's trait changes make for a much different impression. motivated and ambitious have been swapped with obliging and dependable, which shifts the focus from himself to others. we're drawing attention to an agreeable, go-with-the-flow personality, rather than the fact that he's got big dreams for himself (get that scholarship, bud).

i'm not sure i'm the biggest fan, because it kind of makes him seem like a doormat? it's possible that he never talks to emily about how she treats him, and he does film the prank on hannah even though he doesn't seem like he would. still...i guess i wish there was more of a mix here. he can be obliging and dependable, but he doesn't have to be, depending on your choices, and this really makes him feel like everything he does is for the sake of others.

mike

i appreciate ballistic moon pulling these shots back a little - some of them were really, like, up the character's nose lmfao. but bro those traits are unreadable against mike's skin 😭😭

anyway, mikey gets a complete overhaul. i've been over brave with sam. it's a waste of a slot. and it's not that mike isn't driven or charismatic. i mean, he is definitely charismatic, given his popularity in fandom. even i have this feeling of 'man, i should not be charmed by him' <- is definitely charmed by him. but i think we're losing a lot by separating him from emily, with whom he used to share 2 out of 3 traits (intelligent and persuasive). i always thought that said a lot about why they would be drawn to each other and start a relationship - but also why that relationship wouldn't last.

if i were to give mike any new trait, it'd probably be impulsive, which i think is a great fit for him. mike may be intelligent, but when it comes to decisions, he's a man of action - a doer, not a thinker. which is just as likely to lead to a bad outcome as it is a good one.

one change here (forthright -> sensitive), but god does it fucking suck. SENSITIVE?????? be fr. is ashley sensitive or is she traumatized nonstop for eight hours? she was upset when she was chained to a wall and thought she was going to die! when she thought her friend died! when she thought her other dead friend's ghost was trying to communicate with them! when she was put in a life-or-death trap a second time! that sure was sensitive of her!

if i could revert only one trait change, it would be this one. 0/10.

josh

must be said that josh's shot is much better in the remake. it could not have been worse, like i will never understand how anyone looked at that half-closed eye and open mouth and was like yeah that's a good first impression LMAO. so, cool with that.

tbh i also like josh's trait changes? this is another total overhaul, but honestly, at the risk of getting booed offstage, i'm happy with this. if i'm being real, complex was always a waste of a slot. like...yeah? i hope so? all of your characters should be complex to some degree. it feels like a weird shade to the other characters to point out one guy, specifically, as complex. so the rest of them are simple, then? 🤨 it's not that i would argue against josh being the most complex - i do think he is (though i realize my stance on that means little because i'm up this man's ass). it's just weird to draw attention to it.

as for the other traits, yeah, josh is thoughtful and loving. for sure. but i feel like these are sort of...level 2 traits. ykwim? and the new traits are level 1. if you hung out with josh in a casual way, in a group setting, remake traits would be more likely to spring to mind, to match that initial impression. i think you'd have to look more closely or spend more time to clock that he's thoughtful and loving, because outside of his sisters, i don't think he's particularly straightforward or overt in the way he conveys those things, and he wouldn't draw attention to them. maybe i'm leaning too hard on the version of him i've fleshed out in my mind, but josh is the kind of guy who would, like, remember one offhand comment matt made about liking a specific brand of beer. months later, at the next lodge trip, it's there in the fridge, and josh says nothing about it. but he remembered, and he got it. that's josh's brand of thoughtfulness. in my opinion.

none of these six traits are wrong, i just think the new ones are better 'first impression' traits for him.

No one gasps.

“Anyway,” Miguel bites out, glaring at his unresponsive audience. “I thought I would step in as Love Doctor to help them out, as they once helped me with my love life.”

Sam raises an eyebrow, ”They did what?”

Miguel swallows uneasily and ignores her question. “The problem is Demetri is ignoring Eli, likely losing hope he’ll ever have his memories fully restored, wasting away in sorrow-”

“Dude,” Eli scolds.

“Hawk needs his full memories back so that he can apologize to Demetri, woo him, and this whole thing will be over!” Miguel announces proudly.

“I thought this was about the Sekai Taikai,” Tory narrows her eyes. “Why am I here?”

“It’s a fair question,” Robby chimes in. “Why do you need the three of us?”

6. joncon- giving myself a bonus one to talk about how reading his chapters made me feel like i was dissolving like a powerpoint transition. there’s just so much grief and love and bitterness and doom packed into there it is unreal.

5. sam- gender. he is just so special i’ve never read a fantasy protag quite like samwell tarly and his quest to realize his compassion, empathy, and courage are his greatest strengths despite being discouraged by hypermasculine violent feudal society. he is the real protagonist of asoiaf to me.

4. jonsnow- i liked his pov’s in all the books, but ADWD where he is just trying as hard as possible not to be the protagonist after going though like 4 different genres (can u BELIEVE he started off as a boarding school protagonist) even though he literally has super strengthis so beloved to me. His ongoing crisis where he has to realize that despite everything everyone tries to impose on him he has only ever been just himself is so so real (just as real as him being king beyond the wall. btw) though getting immediately killed for it has to be a downer. MY son was turncloak of the month at castle black👍

3. Jaime- he’s funny. he’s cringe. he stares a lot for someone who can’t fight. he’s delusional. he can’t fit a whole knight in his head. he hasn’t emotionally matured past the age of seventeen. everything he says is insane and also heartbreaking. i love jaime POVs so much y’all don’t get it.

2. Cersei- reading cersei i for the first time last year rewired my brain and i was loud about it. Unlike cersei i was not raised by a fascist nightmare but as a nonbinary girltwin i can say that getting raised alongside a direct example of what your life would’ve been like without misogyny can be very hard, especially when you hit puberty and the “your brother is a person and you are the girl one” starts to get even louder. I was fucking alarmed how personally compelling her weird gender thoughts were given EVERYTHING else the Lannister twins have going on that is NOT personally relevant to me. Don’t know how george rr martin old cishet man that he is knew about any of that.

She’s completely delusional, and at times her mental gymnastics are so so fucking funny, but the like roiling layer of unspeakable (literally unspeakable she refuses to speak or acknowledge it) pain and fear underneath is what got me really. Watching her scheme out of arrogance and mortal terror really just to gain respect and bodily autonomy (though in the Tywin way where freedom from abuse and the “right” to abuse others are the same thing) and then just losing everything incredibly fucking hard was really compelling. i hope you win.

1. Melisandre- wait i said another chapter was my favorite of all time in this post? no i didn’t not when melisandre i is in the room. i have talked about this one extensively and probably will do so again. Finding out that r’hllor is literally her enslaved and her entire black and white apocalyptic worldview is her attempt to feel safe within that truth because she is still just a scared little girl at heart who needs what she’s saying to be true because if it’s not none of her suffering was worth it was the revelation of all time. That and the revelation that she actually does have a human attachment to Davos to the point that she’s watching over his son to spare him the grief. We WILL get melisandre ii in this lifetime and it will break my heart all over again because she is going to outlive stannis and have to survive the worldview shattering.

"for real" (I mean Ruin here- who I believe is also a liar but he at least puts on a show) I may be bias here too, but I dont see why BM should stop being evil, or change to be "a good robot" just like I never lked KC being sentient and then having a body.. if only KC had stayed like Venom? that would make sense that is the only route I see the twins taking if they are forced to play the good guys, be like movie Venom- and by that I mean: -Kill and Eat bad guys , only the bad guys, since the world sure is full of them! is not fully ok, but is the best use of their curse! if not, then they should be the balance of the good guys.. the twins as the evil ones work so well to balance the "good" guys of the show, and I use " because, Sun is not pure, he did bad things,(he mentioned months ago he no longer looks after the kids as good as he did- is not as bad as everyone but, is the little things) and Moon? uuf! so if anything, the twins should only show that bad guys can suffer and be sad, be left with no other options because that who they are.. or just be bad because is free!!~

You know what? Screw Sam, Tucker, and Jazz just STANDING BY! WHEN DANNY STARTS TO GET BAD GRADES BECAUSE HE IS FIGHTING GHOSTS!

I have made a post about this before, I know. But being part of the DP phantom means we do a Better job with it and with the characters than Butch ever did.

So after freshman year, Sam and Danny saw how Danny barely passed. He passed every class, but barely. So, they decide this is unacceptable. The boy earned As and Bs before. They’re not taking his change in grades lying down. Also, did the school not take not of this? Because any decent school is gonna take a student who suddenly starts getting worse grades than normal, pull them aside and see if anything is wrong. Anyway, beside the point.

Sam and Tucker start training so they can take on a bigger role with ghost hunting. They also get Danny to take online summer courses which they help him with and show the grades he earns to the school. It impresses them. Sam manages to make a deal with them and because of the grades he earned in those summer courses, they raise his grades from freshman year. Sam pulled many strings but also made it so any student can do it. So he goes from Cs and Ds freshman year, to Cs and Bs.

Sophomore year, they make sure Atleast one of them is in class with him. Sam tends to doodle to remember in class, but starts to take really organized and neat notes for Danny. Tucker makes digital versions of everything and makes PowerPoints and all that for him to learn from. They work on HW together. They study together. Danny never cheats, obviously. But they work hard together and sophomore year, Danny is back to his As and Bs. Also, Sam and Tucker are more skilled as ghost fighters. They take on bigger roles while fighting with Danny and can even hold their own with some ghosts. Things go well. Obviously, it’s hard. Like there’s still his parents thinking he’s evil and half the town hating him. He has to work 10x harder than anyone else and he’s more stressed than most teens. But he’s passing and he’s got his friends to rely on. Jazz also becomes part of helping him when she learns his secret.

Listen I am. All for angst. But. For Sam. And I get the appeal of angst for Danny but I think the above would have been a better route for the show to go down. And sometimes I just want nice and happy things where things go well. Is that so much to ask? No

Editing this to add: while all of this is going on, Danny is also practicing and learning techniques to study and have balance while also being a ghost fighter. Obviously part of it is being able to rely on Tucker and Sam more, but that won’t work so well in college.

And yes. They go to colleges close together.

Danny’s able to go to college away from home. Because his parents learn his secret and become better ghost fighters.

Author's note: Although this story is not related to the Duskwood game, I will add some of our beloved characters. Please read it only if you're into angst prison stories, slow burns, etc. A little hint: You will get to see some similarities to Jake and his gang from "Never The Same" fic.

"Mc, come on! We're gonna be late."

I turned another corner, following Jake, who had shouted for the third time that morning that we were probably gonna be late to some meeting he had to attend. I had no idea why Jake wanted me there but what I did understand was that Jake didn't leave my side once since our small kiss a few days back, hence why he had probably dragged me to this meeting of him.

On one hand, I was happy that Jake had taken me with him, but on the other hand, it also meant coming face to face with the others. None of them had seen the state I was in, now supporting a big blueish black bruise on the right side of my nose. Jake had made sure to keep both me and himself locked up in our apartment, handling his business from behind his laptop or through his phone.

He kept an eye on me the whole time while he did everything he could to make me happy. It had been clear to me that the whole ordeal with Kaden had made a huge impact on him and that Jake blamed himself for the bruise on my face, hence why he kept me behind closed doors while doing basically everything in his power to please me. To me, this was Jake's way of saying sorry for everything that has happened, even though I felt like there wasn't anything to say sorry for.

"Mc!" Jake yelled again, grabbing me by my wrist while dragging me along through the long white halls of the building. Eventually Jake stopped in front of a door I had never been through before. He opened the door and walked inside, I was still behind him.

My eyes immediately fell on the scene before me. Everyone were seated around a big round table, some sort of map in the middle, multiple pictures of buildings and people on the wall across from me and some kind of powerpoint presentation on a big screen on the wall to my right.

While my eyes were drawn to the scene before me, the eyes of the others were drawn to my face. Seeing Jake beaten up wasn't a surprise to them. They had seen it multiple times already, and after seeing Kaden all beaten up, they quickly came to their own conclusions. But to see me supporting a huge bruise on my face was a whole different story, though.

My eyes wandered through the room for a few more seconds before I noticed the attention that was on me. My eyes wandered over them, not really knowing how to react to all the unwanted attention. Kaden almost instantly looked down once my eyes crossed with him. The action was instantly followed by Lex, who was clearly ashamed by the damage her boyfriend had caused. Dan, on the other hand, had one of his eyebrows up a questioning way, his eyes almost instantly shifting to Jake for an explanation.

My eyes traveled to the last two on the table, both of them with their mouth open in shock and their eyes as big as saucers. They clearly hadn't expected this when Jake told them I would attend the meeting too. I turned my head towards Jake, immediately seeing the clenched jaw and the bald fists.

With a soft sigh, I turned back around, already guessing to whom Jake's anger was angled. With a soft nudge, I freed himself of Jake's grasp on my wrist, and I made my way over to the table, taking a seat between Sam and Jessy. Jessy instantly looked over at me in a questioning way.

"What happened to your face?"

"It's not-" I tried to answer but before I could finish my sentence Jake had already taken over.

"Yeah, Kaden... What happened to her face?" Jake spat while he slowly walked over towards the table, his eyes filled with anger and the knuckles of his hand turning an icy white.

I tried to calm the situation by calling out Jake's name, but as expected, he didn't react to it, clearly waiting for a reaction from Kaden. Kaden slowly looked up at Jake, his lips in a fine line, and his eyes squinted together. The whole atmosphere turned from a confused one to a grim one within a few seconds. Both Kaden and Jake faces were filled with rage.

"I, at least, have the guts to apologize to someone who I've hurt. Can't say the same about you, bro." Kaden spat back, fuelling Jake's anger even further.

Dan, who had slowly started to calculate the whole scene before him, looked over from one brother to another. Knowing both guys long enough, he knew it wouldn't take much for one of them to explode within a few minutes if the situation wouldn't take a drastic turn. Jessy and Sam, on the other hand, still had no clue what was going on, their heads switching from one brother to another every few seconds.

"You fucking hit her! I just called your girlfriend an idiot! That's not the same thing!" Jake suddenly screamed, losing his temper completely. He attempted to charge forward, once again trying to hit Kaden but getting blocked halfway by a fuming Dan.

A small smirk started to form on Kaden's face, concluding how whipped Jake was for the brunette on the other side of the table. Sure, Kaden had seen Jake angry, but he never was this angry when it came to one of his friends. Mc fueled something in him, something Jake couldn't control, and it was more than clear to Kaden that Mc would be the person Jake was ready to protect with his whole life. By hurting Mc, Kaden had hurt Jake, but still it didn't feel like justice for what Jake had done towards Lex... Multiple times.

"Wanna fight again, brother?"

Jake was ready to charge at Kaden, he clearly trying to provoke Jake, but again Dan stopped him from coming any closer towards Kaden.

"Want a matching eye for your right one, Kaden?" Jake growled dangerously low, still trying to get past Dan.

"As if-" Kaden started, getting cut off by Dan almost instantly.

"Stop it, both of you!"

Dan pushed Jake back with a harsh shove, warning him to come back with a murderous glare instantly.

"How old are you two, seven?! For fucks sakes, get a fucking grip! I will not go on a mission to save someone with two people who would rather kill each other than the fucking enemy!" Dan turned a little sideways so he could see Kaden too.

"I'm blowing the whole thing off. Come back to me when you two learn how to act like normal adults!"

I heard a soft gasp from my right, and before I could fully register what was happening, Sam had jumped out of his seat with tears in his eyes and an angry look on his face.

"No! You promised Dan! You promised we would save him this week!" Tears dripped out of Sam's eyes while soft sobs made their way out of his mouth. "You fucking promised..."

A deep sigh left Dan's mouth, and the whole room had fallen silent at Sam's outburst.

Sam had always been the most positive one out of us all. He never yelled. He never cried, and he always tried to make everyone smile. To see him so deeply hurt by Dan's words hit us like a truck. Sure, others knew how important this mission was to him, but he never showed how much it actually meant to him... Till now.

"I'm sorry, Sam, we can't right now. Not when these two are like this." A deep sob left Sam's mouth, and before we all knew what had happened, the guy had already left the room while deep sobs left his mouth.

I had no idea what mission everybody was talking about and who they were going to rescue. I looked slowly around myself, my eyes immediately falling on Jessy, who was fuming with anger. She stood up with a harsh shove of her stool, grabbing the attention from all of us.

"You all are a bunch of idiots! Look what you've done, you've broken the one person who can't be broken! Dan, I give you exactly five seconds to leave this room and get him back, we are so not doing this!" Dan's eyes widened, and without thinking, he hurried out of the room to search for Sam as Jessy had requested.

"And you two! You both keep your calm for Sam's sake! This isn't about you, it's about Sam and the rescuing of his boyfriend!"

My eyes widened shortly, suddenly remembering a conversation I had had with Jessy and Lex before. A conversation in which they had mentioned another member, a member who had been locked up in prison.

Apparently, now was the time to free that member like Lex had forecasted... If Dan managed to get Sam back, that is. I suddenly got ripped back into reality by again Jessy's yelling.

"We all want Asher back, don't we?..."

Silence fell over the room.

"... Then fucking act like it!"

Asher... So that was the name of the last member...

Ten minutes had passed by, ten minutes in which nobody had dared to say a word. Jake and Kaden both sat down at the table, ignoring each other but keeping themselves calm. Lex still hadn't said a word at all, and I didn't dare to say a word after Jessy's outburst.

Five more minutes passed before we heard the door open again, all of our heads turning towards it. Dan slowly walked in, behind him, a still crying Sam who furiously wiped his cheeks to get rid of the tears.

Without another word, Sam sat back on his chair next to me while Dan walked back to the front of the table. My eyes were immediately on Sam, hating the fact that he was crying because of Jake. Without thinking, I reached my hand over to his, grabbing it softly to give him some sort of support. I gently rubbed my thumb over Sam's hand while I gave him a supporting smile and whispering a soft.

"It's gonna be okay. Jake will behave himself."

Jake instantly caught up with my words, lifting his eyebrow without vocal reacting to my statement. If it had been any other member, Jake would have lashed out for ordering him around, but he knew he was wrong this time. A soft sigh came from the front of the room, Dan slowly getting all the attention.

"Since everybody decided to behave, the plan is back on. Lex, can you please enlighten us with the details?"

The small girl gave Dan a soft nod, standing up from her chair to walk towards the board with the powerpoint presentation.

"As we all know Asher's will be moved from prisons tomorrow, this will probably be our best shot to free him." Lex showed a map on the screen while she continued with her plan.

"He will be moved on his own by ten guards spread between two police cars and a prisoners van. Three guards in each car and four guards with Asher in the van, two in the front and two guarding Ash. Asher's van will be between the two police cars and is without a doubt bulletproof..."

Lex looked around the room to see if everybody was still catching on before she continued again.

"Halfway through their route, they will end up between two meadows. That's where we come in. There are no sideways on that road, so they have no way to escape. If we split ourselves into two teams, we can catch them from both the front and the back at the same time. First, we eliminate the police cars by killing the policemen inside of it. One team goes for the front while the other goes for the back..."

Everybody nodded but me.

"In the meantime, I will sabotage the security system of the van so we can free Asher. I need a person who stays behind with me to assist me when I need it, though. When I manage to crack the system, team one will take out the two guards at the front of the van while team two breaks open the van and kills the two guards who are with Asher in the back... If everything goes to plan, Ash should be freed within twenty minutes."

Lex finished while a small smile fell on her face. Dan gave her a soft nod before he took back over.

"I've already decided about the teams. Kaden and Jake, you two will be team one. You will take control over the front part. Sam and I will be team two, taking care of the back. Jessy will ride with Kaden and Jake, assisting wherever she is needed. Lex will ride with us."

Silence fell over the room, everybody thinking about the whole plan and how it was going to play out tomorrow. At least until Kaden noticed something was missing.

"Didn't Lex say she needed an assistant?"

Another round of silence fell over us... All eyes slowly shifted towards me, the last one in the group without a task. Jake's eyes widened, and within a second, he had gotten up from his chair.

"Absolutely not! Find someone else!"

"We can't. No one is available at the moment. Mc's our only option." Dan sighed, already knowing that Jake didn't like this one bit.

"Besides, we can't leave her here all by herself, Jake. we still don't know who we can trust." Lex added softly.

Jake focus.

I immediately fell silent at that statement. Lex was right. We still didn't know who had framed Mc, and leaving her on her own inside the gang would be a risk. On the other hand, taking her with us would be an even bigger risk, but at least it was a risk I could control. I had no control over what was happening inside the gang if I wasn't there, but I did have control over our mission. A soft sigh left my mouth.

"Fine, but only if she agrees and stays inside the car at all times."

Dan and Lex softly nodded, turning their attention towards Mc. Mc swallowed thickly before she slowly nodded her head.

Thirty minutes later everything had been fixed, everybody knew what they had to do and we all had left the room to go back to our apartments. Tomorrow would be our big day, and we all needed the rest.

"Jake? Can I ask you something?"

I raised my eyebrow, giving Mc a soft nod.

"Who is Asher exactly?"

A small smile formed on my face, and both of us turned the corner towards our apartment.

"Asher's the last member of our head crew, the crew you've been seeing the whole time. Before I ended up in prison, we always worked in two teams who did the field work. One team consisted of Kaden and myself while the other team consisted of Dan and Asher. You know what all the others do. Ever since we both ended up in prison, the teams have gone messed up. We aren't as good as we used to be, so we need him back to get everything back like it was before."

Mc gave me a soft nod. I, in the meantime, opened the door to our apartment to let us both inside.

"Why did Asher end up in prison?"

A hard snort left my mouth, another wave of anger radiated from my body.

"We got betrayed, remember? Your sister betrayed us... Asher was one of the members I mentioned last time we spoke about it..." Another harsh snort left my mouth before mumbling an angry. "We got fucking betrayed." Behind it.

Mc focus.

.

I slowly got out of my thoughts, remembering clearly what Jake had said that day. The puzzle pieces slowly come all together. My very own sister had not only been the reason for Jake's imprisonment but also for the imprisonment of this Asher guy. The guy we now had to rescue, bringing everybody at great risk... All thanks to my very own sister.

A feeling of anxiety slowly started to take over my mind, tomorrow could be my last day on this earth and to think it was because of my sister fucked my mind up even more. Tomorrow would be our big day and only then we would know what the future would hold.

Two cars, seven people, and one plan. That was everything I could be sure of in this moment. Together with Lex, I was seated in the back of one of the cars. Sam and Dan in the front, Dan behind the wheel while Sam gave him instructions about where to go and what they could expect.

Lex sat next to me with her laptop before her and a nervous look on her face. Lex would be the one who would guide us to the exact locations she had figured out, and it was more than clear that the big task made her pretty nervous. A lot was expected from her, and she knew that if she got the location wrong, the whole plan would go to waste.

My heart kept beating like crazy in my chest. Ever since I had woken up this morning, a slight feeling of anxiety had crept inside my body. A feeling that kept me on edge for a few hours now while I, at the same time, tried to remain calm and not freak out about everything that was going to happen.

Jake had kept an eye on me the whole morning, only parting with me when he really had to. Sure, Jake didn't like it, and he would love to have me in his own car, but at the same time, he knew that that wasn't an option.

Jake's car would be first in the line of fire, and he wasn't willing to put me in any more danger than he had to, so I had to ride with Lex, Sam, and Dan. Jake telling the three of them multiple times that they had to keep an eye on me and had to make sure I was safe, making them all promise to bring me in safety if Jake himself wouldn't be able to it.

"Blue? How much longer?" Dan's voice sounded from the front, making everybody look up and put their attention on Lex. She pushed a few buttons on her laptop, her eyes scanning the screen constantly.

"Ten minutes, we're almost there."

Dan pushed the gas a little more to speed things up while Sam phoned the three others in the other car to give them an update about the location and the time, a soft sigh leaving his lips at something the others said through the phone.

"Yes, Jake, I will tell them." Sam pushed the end call button, turning in his seat to face both Lex and me. "You two know what to do, right?"

Both of us gave a short nod, I mumbled a soft 'Stay in the car and only come out if you are in danger.' Sam nodded softly, a stern look on his face before he passed two guns to the back.

"Only use these if you really need them... Please stay out of trouble, Kaden and Jake will kill us if something happens to you two."

Both Lex and I gave the guy a soft nod, grabbing the guns from his hands. Lex was way more comfortable with the weapon than I would ever be. I wasn't even sure if I still knew how to use one or if I even wanted to use one if I needed it. Dan's voice suddenly sounded through the car, clearly getting pissed off by Sam's statement.

"For real, I will kill them if something happens to Jessy." A soft sigh left Sam's mouth while he placed his hand on Dan's arm to calm him down.

"Jessy will be okay. She's a great fighter when she needs to be one."

A low grumble left Dan's mouth, clearly still annoyed with the whole situation. His hands grabbed the wheel a little harder, and a harsh look formed on his face.

"I know she is. She's always been. I just want them to protect her. They made us promise to protect Lex and Mc, but nobody promised me to protect Jessy."

Another sigh left Sam's mouth, rubbing Dan's arm a little while he diverted his look on the road. My eyes switched between the guys in front of me. I didn't know Dan too well, but I could clearly see the worry for Jessy in his eyes when he spoke of her.

I could see that Jessy meant the world to Dan, and I hated the fact that it was because of me that they had to be separated. Normally Jessy would be under the care of Dan and Lex would be under the care of Kaden whenever they went on mission, but due to me suddenly joining the group everything had been switched and it was more than obvious that it caused a lot of distress.

Not being able to protect the one you loved wasn't something that any of them liked at all, and it showed. Sam let go of Dan's arm, putting his legs up on his seat and wrapping his arms around them.

"I really want to see him, Dan."

Dan quickly looked over at him, a small, comforting smile falling over his face.

"Don't worry, you will. We will do everything in our power to get him back to you."

Sam softly nodded, a small smile falling over his own face. He missed his boyfriend, and the fact that he was so close to him made him happy and anxious at the same time.

"Do you think he will be alright?"

"I don't know, to be honest, he couldn't get the same treatment as Jake had in the prison. There's a big chance that he would have lost some weight and be in a worse condition than when he was with us, but I'm sure he will recover under your own and Jessy's care. Asher is a though one." Dan smiled, making Sam smile almost immediately back.

Silence fell over the car, my heart still beating like crazy. My hands became clammy, and the color had slowly drained from my face. Within a few minutes, I would be a witness of a huge battlefield, and I knew for sure that I wasn't prepared for whatever there was to come.

I was scared, scared for myself, scared for Jake, and scared for the others. I had always hated commotion, I didn't like it in the prison, and I didn't like it now. The problem was that this was not just commotion, this would be one hell of a battlefield where nobody was sure of their lives.

"Blue, location!?" Dan suddenly yelled, waking me up from my own thoughts, I became fully aware of my surroundings.

Meadows started to surround us, and it couldn't be long before we would come across the small convoi that would hold the guy I now knew as Asher. Lex clicked some things on her laptop before answering with a small voice.

"In front of you, one minute drive."

Sam called the others in the other car again, and Dan pushed the gas again a little harder, getting ready to get close to the convoi and free Asher. My eyes switched from the front window to the side windows, trying to get a glimpse of the police cars that would soon come in sight and indicate the beginning of the battle to free Asher. It was a battle I wasn't prepared for at all.
