Brennan is just fucking with us at this point because what do you mean in the the span of less than twenty minutes he both made the conscious decision to have Evan snuggle with Sam (and thus that ENTIRE scene) and then also dropped the line "There are things that are so worth protecting that they are worth killing for." some of you can only appreciate Sam, Jammer, and K through their relationships with Evan, and its getting annoying. I know that a lot of s1 was revolving around Evans possession, but come on, it's so frustrating to see almost every post about magical misfits be about "evan and _". K and Sam are literally childhood friends! Jammer watches Sams streams!

i promise that if you explore other dynamics within the party, their bonds with Evan are not gonna disappear.

Sam knows, deep down she knows, but she has to see it. Over time, the less connection she felt with people the less she saw the lines. She never liked to believe in the golden thread or red string of fate. Destiny was not a word she particularly liked. If destiny was real, Evan would be dead, but Evan wasn't dead. She had saved him. She would keep saving him. Breaking her wand wasn't dramatic nor was it loud. In fact, it wasn't even all that hard. When your best friend––the man you love––has that familiar crushing weight on his chest, its like a mother lifting a car. Maybe it wasn't that hard because someone else was already there, prompting the break––always stalking that sneaky Tad. Now protecting. Evan had more protection than ever. The book was in Jammer's hands. Evan was in Sam's arms. The air mattress was deflated and they were falling in on each other but she didn't mind. Before this––before falling asleep and rediscovering demons––Evan mentioned coming to stay with her. He was picturing couch... She was picturing this. She shook the thought out of her head and hesitantly rolled out of the bed as he began to stir and the voices of K and Jammer got louder outside. Planning was happening. The two were bonding, K and Jammer; the lines Sam had missed so were glowing brighter. She glanced back at Evan as he deflated the mattress and wondered if all his admiration was just that––full stop, he's like that with everyone... but differently. She thinks this throughout the day. He is complimenting Jammer, holding him by the arm, insisting in the way that only Evan can, but it's different. He isn't calling Jammer the greatest wizard of all time. He's just calling him their leader who is full of magic no matter what reality is. Sam doesn't know what reality is. Sunday breakfasts with slow mornings and finally seeing Evan settled down and soft––not in the e-boy way K craved but in that softness you get when you can be yourself without defenses; how he is with Sam in the small moments. Engaging and calling upon Sam Butler of all people, though he has never known her as that. Sam shakes out of it, moving her gaze away from him and back out into the storm.

Anyway it's not my otp but I think Sam x Evan would be fun because I keep picturing Sam being the very famous very beloved host of a TV show that is internationally acclaimed and the obssession her fans would have with the fact that she's dating Evan, who to them is 'just a dude'.

I think Evan would see Sam's fans call him boring but nice enough and speculate why Sam broke up with Timothee Chalamet to date a nobody, and be so stunned that such a large number of people could be aware of his existence and have the prevailing opinion that's he completely uninteresting that he may start crying tears of joy.

I think that Evan would take Sam seriously, because he's fundamentally aware of how capable Sam is, and more importantly of how afraid and aware she is that other people don't. Evan wouldn't let thoughtless or intentionally rude/snarky comments about Sam slide regardless of what setting they were in, and this would be good for Sam because she has someone to back her up and remind her those people are being shitty to her. (This would also endear a large part of her fanbase to Evan).

Also I'm still of the opinion that Sam and K dated before Gowpenny so I think it's absolutely very funny and in keeping with my own queer friend groups to think of one person's exes starting to date each other but also that person's current dynamic with each ex are wildly different.

And finally, I think Jammer would be extremely glad that he is not involved in any of that but he would send Evan all the funniest memes Sam's fans make about her boring af boytoy and listen to K panic about what to get their exes for Christmas.

sorry i'm too shy to come off of anon but i saw your comment on the sam x evan dropoutconfessions post and hard agree. i think a lot of the negativity is misogynoir and it sucks! i'm personally so invested in the ship because it's sam centered in my mind. i think half of the appeal is that it's a friends to lovers situation and they're still friends. i think if they did break up their friendship wouldn't be made awkward. also we have erika on our side which is pretty cool. i'm so happy sam is getting more time to shine this season like i burst into tears multiple times in episode three because of danielle's acting. i've shipped them since season 1 (platonically and romantically because i love their dynamic) so season 2 is like ambrosia for me lol.

yeah absolutely! Sam x evan has a special place in my heart not only because it’s a wonderful relationship respecting a black woman but its one of few relationships i began to ship without the fandom pointing it out to me (im pretty oblivious to ships usually). They truly mean so much to me i could talk about them forever and it bums me out when people dedicate themselves to crushing it with reasons that aren’t even logical and largely elements of fandom misogynoir
