Oh noooooo. Did my disability remind you of your own mortality and now you feel a little scared, Nancy? That’s not my problem.

Here’s a reminder that even if your parents had their own trauma, it doesn’t mean it was okay for them to treat you the way they did.
It’s valid if you’ve forgiven them or whatever else, just please don’t invalidate your own feelings because they were also hurting.

Danny and (a recently revived) Jason move into an apartment together, they live right next to each other too.
The thing with this, however, is that the both of them?
They goddamn hate each other.
If murder was not illegal, they would genuinely kill each other. But since it is, they settle for the next best thing, just beating each other up on sight.
At least, until the landlord told them to not fight on their property and if they were to do it out of sight, so they don't scare away any more potential clients.
They've already scared away more than 10.

i think fandom spaces would become much more enjoyable across the board if people stopped flipping their pancakes over other fans enjoying characters that they don't like. or, god forbid, like them but in 'the wrong way.'

I didn’t notice this sentence when reading the draft. But now I’m thinking of the parallel to how important Navani and Jasnah are to Dalinar’s journey with that same book and visions.
He trusts Navani to write down the visions for him, and she’s the one who figures out that they’re real. It’s part of what makes them spend time with each other again and eventually get married. He asked her to teach him how to read.
Jasnah is of course the one who read the way of kings to him originally. And they are among the first people who he lets go into a vision with him.

shipping two characters: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
shipping two characters but there's a third guy there all the time who just roasts them: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
(to clarify, this third guy is not romantically involved with either of the people being shipped. he's literally just. there.)

When you leave comments like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here’s what I see:
“I don’t actually appreciate the work you put into writing this fic. I don’t think about the time, the care, the love, the effort it takes to write something this intensive. Just drop everything you’re doing to give me, specifically, more, more, more.”
There is no next part, commenter. This is part 6, the final installment of a multichapter fic I’ve been working on for 3 years, with many other fics that branch off of this concept. This is the hardest I’ve worked on any story in my entire 30-some years of writing. I love it with all my heart.
Now, I don’t actually believe you intend these comments to come off this way. You don’t mean to discourage me, or to leave a sour taste in my mouth, or to make me consider ending everything I’m currently working on and deleting this blog forever.
So, let me help you. In the future, when you comment on a writer’s work, try this instead:
“I loved this! I particularly liked (insert favorite part here). This made me feel (insert emotions here). Thank you so much for blessing my dash with this masterpiece. I would love to see more of these characters.”
This is so much more constructive. I’ve received comments like this before and, let me tell you, I got to work on that next chapter almost immediately (even if I hadn’t originally planned to write one).
On that note, thank you to the people who have stuck with me this long, who leave amazing comments, who reblog, who keysmash in the tags. You encourage me and make this all worth it ❤️

It makes sense when you have a character you relate to very strongly, that when you see things with that character it sometimes can make it feel very personal and when it’s something that doesn’t match how you feel about the character it is overwhelming and you can’t stand to look at it. I am the same way with my own comfort character, it is hard to look in the character tags even though I want to see art because of the way a lot of the fandom shows them. Especially because one relationship is always shown romantic or sexual but I like it more like friends or siblings or some other close bond. For me, in my head if I see the ship tag I try to just change it to mean a friendship haha, but it is hard sometimes.
Who knows if it’s right or wrong to feel this way about characters but your own boundaries on your own blog aren’t hurting anyone so it isn’t their business. Sometimes things are just bad and you can’t explain it but don’t want to see it anyway.
Anyway platonic shippers deserve to have their own art and content of their characters and relationships, people who act like they are entitled to make every art romantic are just mean.
!!! I know this ask came in my box when I was posting a rant, I am so sorry for taking so long to answer 😭 (sometime I just don't know what to answer, or felt a bit overwhelmed abt the situation kskdkfkzs)
Thank you so much for understanding, anon ! And so sorry you also live through all of this too ! 🥹

patch notes for patch #7
gortash no longer recognizes the dark urge
gortash's name is no longer "sickeningly familiar"
Orin will no longer comment about DU's relationship with gortash, so that it can better be "left to interpretation"
Wyll has been replaced by a slightly smaller Astarion

At the end of the day you can use "Varric is an unreliable narrator" to overwrite literally any part of DA2 that you don't like. Like you can say, "Oh of COURSE Varric isn't actually against mage freedom! He just said that he objected to Hawke freeing the mages because Cassandra was interrogating him." And sure, I can't prove to you that he isn't lying about that. I can't prove to you that Varric isn't lying about anything. I can't prove to you that the entirety of Inquisition isn't also Varric making things up because he did also write a book about that and we hear Cassandra reading it in the end credits. At the end of the day if you want to you can basically wipe out Varric's entire character as presented to us and say, "Actually he was lying! He's really this."
But at a certain point you do also have to acknowledge that the frame narrative is a storytelling device that's meant to enhance the story, not like... erase it. Or at least I prefer to acknowledge that, because going too far the other way basically guts the story of all meaning. If Varric is a character we are meant to engage with on any level--and I think it's clear from his prominence in the franchise that he is!--then at least some of what we see him say and do needs to be able to meaningfully interpreted, even if we second-guess him, even if we can pick out half-truths here and there, even if we cross-check our interpretations against how he behaves in other parts of canon.
Like at least some of what we're given about Varric has to be meaningful to his character, or why even bother, I guess is what I'm saying.
