What’s you opinion on Yubel?

My friend and both think the way GX handled Yubel and their relationship with Jaden wasn’t great.

It feels like Jaden gets blamed for Yubel’s actions and him fusing with Yubel is somehow supposed to be Jaden “taking responsibility.”

Like, Yubel tried to commit multiversal genocide because Jaden had friends other than them. Any potential responsibility Jaden had for Yubel’s actions is a moot point.

Imagine if your ex tried to kickstart nuclear Armageddon because you broke their heart. At that point I don’t think you can really be blamed for your ex’s actions.

Yubel's one of those characters that when I first watched gx SEASON 3 (jesus christ GONNA BE THREE YEARS AGO SOON??!? MAN ok take everything i say about s3 with a grain of salt it's been forever since i've watched it) i liked...fine?? they didnt click with me right away, it wasnt until some time simmering that i really grew to like them more as a character. I have a lot of qualms with season 3, it's probably my least favorite gx season by a large margin, but honestly it's less springing from yubel and more just from how im not a very big fan of how Jaden's character is written and handled in s3.

i'm personally not big on the way jaden's writing in season 3 kind of disregards/compromises a lot of his writing/his personality up until that point, especially to the idea that he would give up all he's been before to effectively be the past life king yubel wants him to be. but even so, i doooonttt really think it feels much like Jaden's being blamed for what yubel did?? i dont like 'soulmate fusion' very much as a trope (but thats just personal preference LMAO) but the gesture isn't really jaden 'taking responsibility' for yubel's actions to me??? but instead that's him reaching out to what hes now recognizing as someone who's been going through eons of agony and telling them "hey it's ok, i'll be here for you, and i love and care about you, and i won't leave" which for as much as i dont like jaden's s3 writing it does feel just like a logical extreme to any Yutag's Love and Friendship Offering Capabilities.

i do also unfortunately think a lot of this isnt helped by the way the season 3 dub did end up taking a bit of a bigass axe to a lot of the nuance of things/details related to yubel and their love for jaden especially. WHICH SUCKS!! I LIKE THE GX DUB A LOT I WISH IT DIDNT CUT A LOT OF LITTLE NUANCES!!! cuz like... it's kind of a simplification of matters to say that it's just "yubel's committing dimensional genocide just because jaden has other friends"--in the dub yeah there's this idea that they just wanna Play With Him, theyre Mad at him for the 'sending their card to space' thing, when the deeper read on it is like.... yubel was made into a Creature specifically to protect The Supreme King, and the love they had for and with that long ago past Jaden is like. Everything They've Had. That's They Soulmate. That's What They Exist For. And Then They Got Shot Into Space and Driven Insane By Cosmic Horror Space Light. so of course theyre gonna be a little Out of Their Mind when the one person theyre supposed to protect and who said theyd love them only is thriving and existing Without Them (even though Jaden is his own person, arguably someone else entirely.) (i do wish we got to see more of this idea that 'the jaden now is not the jaden yubel knew, but theyre slowly coming to peace with that and care about him just the same;' i read such a good fic that played with that, really made me see yubel in a different light)

anyway im losing my train of thought BUT yeah i think theres better ways yubel and jaden's relationship could have been written and handled (yubel really gets the ygo bad guy pedigree of "if you dont die theres a 90% chance youll just get away with all the insane shit you did,) though personally i don't really see it as jaden taking responsible for Yubel's warpath. As it is, for as much as Yubel wanted to fuse the dimensions, it was the Dark World beasties like Brron doing most of the actual Violence and Carnage and Killing Jaden's Friends and Plummeting Jaden Into Supreme King Mode, and jaden blaming himself (i guess you can argue HE thought he was taking responsibility for yubel's shit with the fusion, but again i dont really think thats the overall case)

i do like yubel though, thinking on them more rn actually. They're a yugioh bad guy, they do a lot of yugioh bad guy things and get a lot of the yugioh bad guy "post villainous acts" 'redemption.' but they are a victim of Yugioh Pacing and Clumsy Writing and The Dub Twisting Itself In Knots Shrouding Half of Their Character and Motivations. IT'S A SHAME i wish they'd gotten utilized more in season 4

hey guys i just discovered smth. so fellow celiacs know that gluten free bread, even the best imitation thats light not incredibly dense and has the right texture, still kind of tastes bad. like the best u can get w gluten free bread is Kind Of Bland.

well i had enough of overprice small as fuck store bought gluten free bread, so i stopped buying it but i am still in need of something to eat on the go and i cant think of anything better than a sandwich. so i started baking bread myself and i found a brand of gluten free flour that makes for great texture (schär mix b, the recipe on the back works well for me) but the taste is still bland. if u put more salt in it its just salty.

now this may be obvious. but i was like. i could season this. but i still kind of wanted it to taste bread-y so what i ended up going with is simmering crushed garlic (like 5 cloves) in olive oil for about 5 minutes then pouring it all into the cup and letting it cool. i then put it into the dough like normal but i take the actual bits of garlic out and this fixes EVERYTHING. this isnt enough garlic to make the bread taste overtly of garlic so you can still use it for sweet things like nutella, but it gives it a bit of extra flavour that masks the Gluten Free Bread taste

so anyway this fucks and im a genius

Because I love salt, what do you find to be the most annoying lines of so-called evidence or foreshadowing for ships you hate? For me it’s hard to pick just one but Jon saying Sansa looked radiant is up there for me because the idea that Jon had a crush on Sansa in the first book or before is so much worse than the thought of them meeting again and then developing feelings (which I still hate, but it’s just not as bad). It’s super normal for people to think their siblings look nice. Arya’s POV chapters also remark that Sansa is beautiful. Ashford theory is annoying because it was originally about the hound and Sansa (also hate this ship but the fans are a million times more tolerable). I also roll my eyes when fans insist that the bride of fire line foreshadows Dany marrying Jon (and I even LIKE that ship but only in an AU in my head where Lyanna is Jon’s mom but Rhaegar is NOT the father)

Thats a good one I hate though, multiple siblings and family members in this series all compliment one another. Even characters with bad relationships compliment each other. In the books, Arya recalls that her father calls her pretty, which only Jon ever also called her. Does that mean Ned had romantic feelings for Arya? Or Lyanna for that matter? No of course not. Thinking someone in terms of beauty is zero indicator of attraction in any way.

Also its even funnier with Jonsas because Sansa herself notes that Arya looks just like Jon, and then on multiple occasions notes that she thinks Arya is ugly. So, its even less compelling.

In the show Tyrion compliments Cersei's beauty all the time and we know there is nothing to it. It's reading into something that isn't there beacuse if they ignore the way beauty is used in this series as a common compliment towards other highborns, then its a really simple box to check on really stock symptoms of attraction. (I also dont really enjoy Sansan but it is funny how they just stay in their circle and mind their business like they somehow are winning based on being not fucking annoying alone).

I'm gonna rapid fire for Jon here because pretty much every single ship he has is backed by the worst evidence known to man.

The idea that Jon never thinks about Sansa because he loves her the most is dumb and not how we know Jon works. He holds back what he says not what he thinks. He thinks of Sansa the least because despite being his sister, she treated him like shit because she looks down on him for being a bastard. Jon cares about her, but not anywhere near how he cares about his other siblings who have clearly shown him love and respect.

The worst of Jon and Arya is a very very old outline that grrm scrapped. Its an outline that wasnt used and most of it isnt canon so it is literally a piece of non evidence for a ship that is disgusting. (Both Jonsa and Jonrya make Jons good older brother behavior towards his sisters look predatory and the shippers are all literally too blind to realize it)

Jon and Dany have literally nothing to back that up, because they are staged as moral oppositions to one another, dont know the other exists, and the idea that the motif of ice and fire will be about the coming together of romance is antithetical to everything grrm has established about the themes of his story. They are so far from being a ship that literally the ONLY thing they have to support it is the show and thats an absolute joke (see my every post that got me blocked by jonerys stans for more detail)

Ygritte is a rapist, so I accept literally zero "evidence" on that ones validity.

I also hate the "the actors have chemistry" argument to support really bad ships, because some actors having chemistry doesnt equal good romance, it equals good on screen dynamics in its own unique way. Like Tywin and Arya in season 2 have GREAT chemistry, but I don't need to explain why shipping that is creepy. Catelyn and Jaime have great chemistry, but it doesn't mean anything was actually there which could've worked.

Like shipping is fine, but so many people just INSIST it is canon or meant to be instead of something fun to think about. I joke ship about Stannis and Davos because its fun but I'm not over here arguing that people who don't ship it are "ignoring the text in front of them deliberately".

Also honestly, its really funny to me that you had to specify you'd only like that ship if they weren't related. Big oof on that one. Jonerys stans hate the idea they couldn't be related because they somehow think Dany being his AUNT isn't at all creepy. Like, Dany is related to Jon the way Jon thinks hes related to his MOTHER. There is no capability of romance or attraction there, that's crazy.

People who are biologically related but don't know it, 99% of the time are in fact, still not accidentally attracted to each other because that's biological survival instinct. Anti inbreeding protocol. But they think because DANY was raised to think her families blood superiority driven incest is fine, that somehow means JON would think its fine. Jonsas have no argument for that they just have to pray desperately that Jon would want to fuck his little sister despite how much it makes him look like a predator.

I'm sorry, I hope you have water on hand to wash down all this goddamn salt I just threw at you all at once.

Really, it isn't individual lines that irk me, its the overall tendencies of these ships to put more emphasis on things that don't even exist to justify something they don't even realize WHY people think it's creepy. I don't hate a lot of ships, just...all pro incest ones, and ones that promote predatory/rapist behaviors. Which is why I don't ship much in this series.

We're probably not meant to ship many people in this series if I in any way understand even a modicum of why grrm writes the lack of romance the way he does.

Helluva Boss - mastermind s2 ep 11

this is going to be my first post for this bc of how long this would be otherwise

loved the episode even though i want to yell at some of the characters and such

sinsmas is going to be brutal thou especially with how octavia must be feeling rn

also i will soon be posting pt 3 of my arcane thoughts and theories

first vassago is kinda shown as more important in the trailer than he is in the episode and so im thinking and hoping he'll play a bigger role or a more important one in season 3 especially involving octavia (i talk more about that in her section of this post).

now octavia. i feel so bad for her and im probly gonna cry during her song next episode. also stella pretending to care and comfort octavia just makes me wanna punch stella and hug octavia. the one time octavia sees her mother care about her its just part of andrealphus's plan (idk how i remembered his name i kinda broke it down to - and-real-phus). the role im hoping vassago plays with octavia is one where he helps her see the truth. that her father could/couldve been a better father he was at least trying. maybe he brings up what he knows of stolas's childhood and the effects stolas's childhood had on him and while it doesnt excuse stolas it at leasts helps explain things. my guess for andrealphus's long term plan is to get octavia on his side so that whenever stolas does die octavia might give some of her inheritance to him and stella. since stella wont care and just be happy he's dead andrealphus will just take it. one final thing about andrealphus is when in the start he gets mad at stella for not telling him about the stolas and blitz thing he goes into this sort of ice queeny form. he does so again with vassago. we havent gotten the scene with stolas on the ground and blitz protecting him but it pretty clear andrealphus is attacking them and so something's happened to make his emotions run on high and 'transform' i guess. also blitz is partly probly protecting stolas like that bc stolas saved his life.

next stolas and blitz (i'll talk about everything else i've planned in a second post) first im gonna talk about them singularly. stolas is totally broken and depressed which is shown with a few things. first, his eyes - we only ever see his eyes or pupils i guess when he experiences very strong emotion. so for them to be showing for all that just happened isnt a really good sign. then theres just his whole attitude or demeanor i guess i'll call it. he just doesnt seem to care at all which is fair and just with everything that just happened. he is even fine with basically drowning in the bath scene. next up the final stolas and blitz scene. stolas finally getting the love he wanted a long time ago from blitz now that he has basically nothing is just a punch to the gut and salt in an already infected wound. he had to give up everything just to have blitz love him and he's gonna wonder if at this point its even worth it. also blitz and stolas have switched places, its very obvious but i did want to mention it. also since stolas is going to be living with blitz (he's probly gonna insist on leaving but stay) he gonna see how blitz crosses his face out in pics. which *cry*, i just need them to have a whole heart to heart. next their song. they cant live without each other based on the lyrics and blitz still doesnt feel worthy of stolas loving and saving him. i think the line where blitz says this is 'why are you doing this, i dont deserve'. overall they'd do basically anything for one another. now blitz. blitz overall right before stolas saves him is just wanting moxxie, millie, and loona to be safe and alive which *CRYING*. he doesnt care that he's gonna die in those moments just that they're gonna be okay and have each other. i might come up with more for him and write about it in another post.

hi anon! i havent played through my own SSR Dark Ripple yet but i did watch it in advanced when the card came out last year on cn server and the story is seared in my memory HAHA

(DISCLAIMER: take all of these with a grain of salt tho, bc it has been a whole year, and idk if some things were changed from the translation last year!)

long story short: no, nothing spicy Actually happens (and by spicy i mean "fucking", and by Actually i mean "written into the story with absolutely no doubt that fucking is what they did"), as those steamy moments are largely up to interpretation and/or cut to the next scene pretty promptly.

the steamy moments really are not the focus of the card's overall story, and are instead like....seasoning sprinkled around

for a more detailed rundown of the steamy moments (which will inevitably contain some spoilers) ive listed them under the cut :D

this card involves luke undercover as a cold, intimidating, and even cruel persona who goes by the alias "Raven" (which.....my god luke, u couldnt even think of a fake name that isnt ur codename? jHVKJAHSVKDFJAH) and mc joins the fray of this undercover mission as raven's arm candy who hes very protective over

the particular steamy scenes i think you could be talking about:

early the card story, to establish his cover character more raven!luke eithrer [EDIT: THIS IS A STORY CHOICE BASIS] 1) makes mc get on her knees and clean up a drink she spilled on his shoes so that they make a scene. or 2) pushes mc to the couch and pins her there, quietly telling her to resist so that they make a scene.

later on, they then go to a room alone to discuss case things more freely, but due to the fear of the room being bugged and surveilled, luke and mc have to stay very close. theres some talk of a mirror that Could be a two-way mirror, and theyre eventually interrupted by the Big Bad of this story when he goes into the room. it is this moment where mc straddles luke, so they wouldnt look suspicious like they were talking about the case and instead were in the middle of a passionate moment

later later on, luke starts getting a headache/fever which are side effects of a drug he took before the mission. this drug upped his alcohol tolerance so he could still drink during the night (and thus not be suspicious), but he does have to deal with those symptoms. mc doesnt like luke having any symptoms tho, so luke goes to the bathroom which hAS NO DOOR (????? WHO DESIGNED THIS MANSION AHSFVKJASH) and goes into the bathtub wiTH HIS SHIRT STILL ON (???? LUKE????) and he has a moment there thats teasing cuz mc was like "i wont peek!" and luke was like "im not bothered by that" and then he gets in the bathtub

the bathtub scene is Literally Steamy, because the water is a bit warm and theres literal steam everywhere. mc goes into the bathroom because she wants to help luke, and luke says something like "stimuli elsewhere can help distract from the pain" and then mc provides him Stimuli Elsewhere

again, largely left to interpretation Where that Elsewhere Stimuli is

lastly, in the scene towards the very end, mc and luke are back in their childhood home and for some reason (i forgot...i need to read through my own card soon i swear) mc is sitting on a table and luke is very close

given all of these, there are several points where a lot of thirsty fans (me, it's me, im thirsty fans, but tHERE ARE OTHERS TOO HAJKFVSKJHF) have filled in some blanks as moments where things couldve gotten intimate. but again, since it's not written undoubtedly in the story itself, it's left to interpretation, and so in my eyes, it doesnt truly count as fucking actually happen

I will say this, Great episode for the Couffaine family. All of them got some Development. (well anarke was a bit lacking but still)

Juleka was MVP. And I am glad Marinette and Luka are friends.

It was cute and the fight wasnt boring. I think they could have done a bit more with it. But it was fine. The comedy was on point.
