UsaMamo Week 2024 - Day 3/6 - Inspired by a Song/Coffee
Late again, and it's tough to say how late because this is technically two prompts in one. I was originally planning to write this as a song fic, but wasn't really feeling it leading up to the event week. Then last night I read @caelenath's awesome song fic and felt inspired to take another look at my outline.
This is not the whimsical lark that my other UsaMamo week pieces have been (which is why I was torn about writing it) but it's an idea that's been nagging at me for a while now. This is only the first part of three, but I thought it would be nice to post it for the event.
Title: Happier Summary: Mamoru wants a cup of coffee. Rating: T (for language) Words: 1722
“Thirty eight!”
Chiba Mamoru is not a melodramatic person. He is not given to histrionics. Flagrant displays of emotion are simply not his thing. Indeed, he is a calm, composed, and exceedingly rational human being. Life is stressful—his arguably more so than most—and he prides himself on his ability to ‘rise above’. But if this beanie-wearing, mouth-breathing barista doesn’t call his number in the next sixty seconds he might just lose it.
“Thirty nine!”
Mamoru stares down at his receipt and wills the numbers to change. Unsurprisingly, they remain the same. He can transform into a superhero in the blink of an eye, but he can’t change a number on a piece of paper. It may be the caffeine withdrawal talking but this seems…unfair. Unjust. Unacceptable. He is a reincarnated prince, the rightful heir to the planet beneath his very feet, and yet he cannot get a simple cup of coffee.
“Thirty seven!”
Are they counting fucking backwards now? He takes a breath and stuffs the receipt in his pocket so he can run a hand through his hair. He needs to calm down. He’s just tired. He’s had another rough night of precious little sleep and this is just a bad morning. That’s all. One bad morning. At the end of a bad week. At the end of a bad month. He just—
“Forty!”
He just really needs some coffee. It’ll be ready soon. So long as they serve him in the next—he checks his watch—four minutes he can still make it to the hospital before his shift starts. He thinks. He’s only just started at UoT and he’s still not used to the bus transfers. Getting to Keio was much simpler. He didn’t have to get up so early, and the coffee shop across the street was much faster. Not to mention better. He misses that coffee. He misses Keio. He misses sleeping. He misses…a lot of things.
“Forty one!”
Lucky number forty one strolls up to the counter to claim their prize. They walk away with a tall plastic cup full of frothy green liquid that looks like it was poured directly out of an infected nostril, and Mamoru can’t help but shudder when they take a long, noisy sip from the straw. Who comes to a coffee shop and orders…whatever that is? This is apparently a trend now—ordering non-caffeinated beverages at coffee shops—because the last ten people who have walked away from the counter have had similarly ridiculous drinks. Why does everything have to be dessert, or snot, in a cup nowadays? What’s wrong with a regular cup of coffee?
He needs to find another coffee shop.
“Forty two!”
He needs them to call his number.
He pulls out his phone to distract himself and scrolls through a list of notifications: weather, junk mail, update reminders—up to forty five now, he’s got to get around to doing that—and one text. His thumb hovers over the blue bubble for a moment or two before he eventually presses down.
Training session Fri or Sat ppl. LMK work schedules ASAP. No ghosting Chiba. Ur old ass is getting rusty. 👴
As Mamoru rolls his eyes three little dots appear at the bottom of the screen. He holds his breath.
“Forty three!”
He doesn’t look away from those three little dots, doesn’t blink, doesn’t breathe. He just watches them, transfixed, until finally—
I’ve got a shift at the restaurant Friday night, but I can do AM Sat wide open
He releases the breath he’s been holding in a quiet sigh. Just Makoto. Not— His thumb hits the back button of its own accord then scrolls down through the list of chats, until…there, near the bottom. Sandwiched between an old banking verification and a number he doesn’t even recognize. He reads the date to the right of the name and winces. Again, his thumb hovers.
“Forty four!”
He taps. A string of texts populate his screen. He doesn’t need to read them again, he knows them by heart. But he reads them anyway. Like he always does. He can’t help it. He’s weak; in these moments at least. When no one can see. He should stop looking now. Should close the window. Should delete the whole thread while he’s at it. But he won’t. He can’t. He can do a lot of things—has done a lot of things—but he can’t delete those words.
I love you, Mamo-chan.
“Forty five!”
I’ll always love you. Even if you’ve stopped loving me back.
“Forty five!”
I wish I knew why though. I wish you would tell me what I did wrong.
“Forty five! That’s four five, people. Four five!”
I’m sorry, I get it now, I won’t bother you anymore. Be happy, Mamo-chan. I want you to be happy.
“For the last time, forty five! Going once, going twice…”
Mamoru’s head snaps up. Forty five. Fuck. That’s his number.
He stuffs his phone in his pocket and rushes up to the counter and beanie-boy does not look happy. Mamoru begins to mutter an apology then stops as the barista shoves a large mug topped whipped cream, caramel, and chocolate shavings toward him. Mamoru looks from the mug to the mouth-breather and back again as his brain tries to comprehend what is happening. After an eternity of waiting they finally called his number and yet…this is not his drink.
The barista is staring at him with a bored, somewhat vacant expression and Mamoru can clearly see that he is wondering why Mamoru isn’t taking the mug and walking away. Apparently the barista can’t tell from Mamoru’s assumedly apoplectic expression that he has no intention of taking the mug. This mug is not his. It’s not what he ordered. It’s not what he wants. Apparently that’s just his life now. An endless string of miserable disappointments that he’s supposed to suffer through silently. But he’s fed up with being silent.
He wants his damn coffee, and he wants it right fu—
“Oh, hello, uh, hey, sorry, excuse me but…I think that’s mine actually.”
Mamoru blinks as a cheerful man with sandy blond hair steps up beside him. He points to the confectionery concoction on the counter and shoots Mamoru an apologetic smile before turning to the barista. “Yes, chocolate macchiato with caramel, right? I believe that’s mine and not this gentleman’s.”
Beanie boy looks from Mamoru to sandy-hair and blinks.
Sandy-hair glances at Mamoru and shoots him another overly apologetic look. “Right, umm, well, if it’s all right, I’ll just grab this and get out of your way.” Mamoru steps to the side and sandy-hair takes the mug and hurries away. Presumably to overdose on sugar.
Mamoru turns back to the barista.
Barista scratches his temple. The beanie must be itchy. Mamoru hopes it is.
“So…what was your order again?”
“Large. Black. Coffee.”
“Right. That’ll take a couple of min—” Beanie boy must have just learned to read facial expressions because his eyes widen and he takes a step back. “I’ll go get it now.”
Mamoru feels a little bit of the tension ease in his shoulders and he breathes a weary sigh. He’s being an asshole. He’s doing that more and more often now. He keeps telling himself it’s the long work hours and the lack of sleep, but he knows what the real problem is. It’s her. He misses her. But there’s nothing he can do about that so he needs to find a better way to cope than being rude to baristas. And co-workers. And neighbours in his apartment building.
The barista comes back with his to-go cup and Mamoru tries to smile and thanks him for the drink. The guy nods but appears otherwise unaffected and that’s fine. Mamoru’s not looking for a new friend, he’s just trying to be a decent human being. A tinkle of bells sounds as he reaches for his cup. A gust of air follows, and a familiar tingle between his shoulder blades compels him to turn. He follows the innate instinct before his mind can warn him against it.
The unmistakable sight of blond odangos makes his heart soar before the inevitable sensation of crushing gloom comes down hard upon his ribs. Just when he thought his morning couldn’t get any worse. He can’t handle this. Not right now. Not again. He’s not strong enough to face another awkward meeting, another painful interaction, another agonizing opportunity to break her heart. Why are they always bumping into each other? Why, in a city as big as this, can he not get through one single week without running into her? Why?
Mamoru knows why. Because they’re soul mates.
He looks around for an alternate exit, a side door, a window, anything so he can avoid being seen. Before he can consider hiding in the bathroom he realizes she’s not approaching the counter where he stands, she’s rushing over to a table. She’s out of breath, her cheeks are pink, and she’s spouting a string of apologies. He’s seen her look exactly like this countless times before, and he can’t help the smile that spreads across his face as the memories replay.
His smile disappears as a new memory implants itself in his mind.
Of Usako, rushing up to a table where a man with sandy blond hair is standing in wait. Where a man with sandy blond hair is taking her hands. Where a man with sandy blond hair is pulling her forward. Kissing her cheek. Making her blush.
“Don’t worry,” sandy-hair says, “your timing is perfect. Your drink just came out. I wasn’t sure if you wanted a muffin, a danish, or a doughnut, so I got one of each.”
Usako laughs with delight.
Usako laughs with delight.
Usako laughs with delight.
Mamoru heads for the door like the building is on fire. He doesn’t hear the barista calling after him, telling him that he’s forgotten his coffee. He doesn’t hear the tinkling of bells as he shoves through the door or the loud rush of traffic as he hits the sidewalk. All he can hear is Usako’s laughter play over and over in his head.
When was the last time he heard her laugh? When?
Mamoru doesn't know when. He can’t remember.
***
Ain’t nobody hurt you like I hurt you But ain’t nobody love you like I do Promise that I will not take it personal, baby If you’re moving on with someone new

Happy Birthday, Mamoru! Sorry bud, this is a breakup fic. What can I say? I both love and hate the breakup arc. The song that inspired this fic is Happier by Ed Sheeran.
Thanks for reading! ❤️
Be sure to follow @usamamoweek for all of this year's content!
Many thanks to our awesome hosts @random-mailbox and @lilliebellfanfics for making this possible. 😘😘

And now for the other ruler of Crystal Tokyo: King Endymion, and second only to roses, the flower he’s most closely associated with is none other than lavender. 💜
Lavender symbolizes devotion, just as Endymion and Serenity are completely devoted to each other. Yet, it is also associated with deceit. Legend has it the snake that bite and killed Cleopatra was said to have hidden in a lavender bush. Endymion did have to resort to a form of deceit in order to try to warn Mamoru in the 90s anime, and that part of the plot and the resulting breakup arc remains one of the most controversial talking points of the fandom.
I chose to go with the Sailor Moon Eternal rendition of King Endymion’s costume in this fanart because, as fond as I am of the old anime, that’s still a little TOO much lavender on one tuxedo. Though I suppose I did make up for it with the amount of floral drawings lol 😂

The breakup arc of Sailor Moon R is so infuriating and yet I cannot bring myself to hate it because it’s so necessary.
It’s such good character development for both Usagi and Mamoru. Especially for Mamoru. He had to learn how to go from the lone wolf who handled his business all alone in season 1, to a partnership with Usagi in season 2. He had to learn that he was not alone anymore and therefore did not have to handle things alone anymore. He shouldn’t handle things alone anymore. And that took growth. Growth isn’t always pretty. And it wasn’t in R. But it was so necessary.
The boy that broke up with Usagi in R was not the same boy who proposed to her in Stars, he put a good amount of work into himself before asking her to marry him.

Hey look, I found and filled out an old school controversy meme template!
Favorite Character: Rei Hino and Minako Aino. Rei was my favorite ever since I was a kid because she had a fun personality and badass fire powers, but as I grew up and gained access to things like Codename Sailor V, I really began to develop a deep fondness and appreciation for Minako as well. I can't possibly choose between them; they're both great.
Despised Character: The Sailor Starlights, primarily the anime versions (the manga versions just seem kind of pointless to me). It's the final season of the show and yet so much time is being hogged by these newcomers, who are unlikable jackasses on top of that. Truthfully, I'd have much rather kept Chibiusa around, at least she's someone I know and care about.
Most Overrated Character: The anime's Haruka Tenoh and Michiru Kaioh. Now don't get me wrong, I love them too and I 100% get why they're so special to so many fans. But I feel that often blinds people to their less than stellar writing in the second half of S and throughout Sailor Stars. The writers took their status as "Darker and Edgier Sailor Senshi" way too far, to the point where they started coming off as unlikable strawmen of Magical Girl genre haters.
Most Underrated Character: Unazuki Furuhata. Why didn't she show up in Crystal!?
Favorite Couple: Usagi/Mamoru, primarily manga/Crystal and Junichi Sato-directed!anime.
Despised Couple: Usagi/Seiya. Toxic, inauthentic, just all-around bad. Burn it with fire.
Favorite Season: The original Sailor Moon. I don't even know how to describe it other than lightning that never quite struck twice. I think the franchise owes much of its success to it.
Despised Season: Sailor Stars. First we have an arc that butchers Queen Nehelenia, then Chibiusa is insultingly written out offscreen, then Mamoru dies without anyone knowing so that we can have the Breakup Plot 2.0, then a boy band that can transform into female Sailor Senshi start hogging the spotlight with one of them getting into a toxic relationship with Usagi, the villains are more incompetent than ever and still doing the same Monster of the Week formula with the monsters being utterly nonsensical in their origin (not to mention not in the manga at all), and we end with a six-part finale that tries so hard to cram in as much emotion and devastation as possible without doing it half as well as the original season's two-part finale. And this is the last season of the show! It's just such an insulting way for the show to go out, with its good points few and far between. Most of the staff from prior seasons weren't on this one and its director was actively sick of the franchise, and it really does feel like it.
Favorite Villain: Technically my favorite villains are the Dark Kingdom from the anime's original season, but across the whole franchise I have to go with the Black Moon Clan.
Despised Villain: Queen Nehelenia from Sailor Stars. An offensive, contradictory rewrite of what was previously among the anime's best villains. Let's pretend she never happened, 'K?
Favorite Episode: Episode 24 of the original season. The show taking an unrepentant villain and still allowing him to rediscover his humanity and find a measure of redemption by sacrificing his life for another blew me away when I first saw it as a kid. This episode and all the ones leading up to it marked the point where a really good show became a great one.
Despised Episode: Episode 22 of Sailor Stars. The Sailor Starlights reach the absolute pinnacle of unlikability in their hypocritical attitude toward discovering the Senshi's identities, and then Sailor Aluminum Seiren is killed off in a cruel, mean-spirited way that we end up with no emotional catharsis over later. At this point, it just didn't feel like Sailor Moon to me.

Meet the Creators - Goddess_Althena
What username(s) and platform(s) can folx find you on? (Please include links!)
@goddessalthena's works can be found here on AO3
(Fun Fact) What is your favorite kind of potato?
"Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew." I, like Samwise the Great, have no single preference for the mighty spud. I worship potatoes in all forms.
How long have you been creating works in fandom spaces? How long have you been active in the SM fandom?
Sailor Moon is the only fandom I've ever written for. While it might be something of a stretch to call myself 'active', I've been dabbling on and off since the early 2000s.
What type(s) of creative works do you usually make? (fanfics, digital art, cosplay)
Fanfic only. I can't draw to save my life, and the only character I dress up as (unintentionally) is Captain Sweatpants.
What do you enjoy about creating for the SM fandom?
I've always loved writing, but I adore the people I've met in the Sailor Moon fandom. Getting to know fellow writers/creators has deepened my love for the characters and inspired me in so many ways. It's a great fandom for collaboration and support.
Are you strictly UsaMamo or do you create for other pairings as well?
I have a couple 'gen fic' one-shots, but my brain generally defaults to UsaMamo content.
What inspires you to create works for Usagi and Mamoru?
I'm not really sure why I always default to these two, but I think there's a 10 year old version of me still crying out for all the UsaMamo content I didn't get from canon. That breakup arc left deep, emotional scars. Each angst fic is me reliving the trauma. Each fluff fic is me trying to heal. 😂
Do you tend to work on multiple projects (WIPs) simultaneously or try to finish one at a time?
Yes. Yes.
Do you prefer large projects (chaptered fics, webtoons/zines, highly detailed art) or small projects (one-shots or simple art)?
If we're talking about writing, then I prefer one-shots, tyvm. My tiny peanut brain gets lost in the intricate maze that is longfic.
As for reading, anything goes!
Are there any common themes, situations, tropes, or mediums in your work?
I'm not really a trope writer, so my pieces can be pretty random. I often strive to imbue a sense of emotional realism into my writing, to 'ground' the content in a way that canon often chose not to.
Is there anything you haven’t explored artistically and would like to try?
I'd like to write and direct an old-timey Sailor Moon radio drama, but something tells me my Moonie friends would refuse to perform it live. Thus my dream is dashed.

Story Idea: Sailor Moon Season Mashup
I just had an idea I've got to share and hopefully inspire someone to write. An aged-up season mashup where the first season and the latter half of the second come together.
Basically, when the Nijizuishou Arc is happening Usa and the others are in their early to mid twenties. Usa and Mamo are pining for each other but don't want to act on their feelings because they don't want to endanger each other in the event their identities are found out so they make the best of their situation by getting together with their partner-in-youma-fighting/not-quite-ally-or-enemy because at least if they're discovered as being together they know they can protect themselves.
And then, the Reveal.
It's during the time of Mamo's conversion, Usa doesn't know if he's dead or alive and depressed that the man she's been pining for and wanting to be with is also the man she's unknowingly been with because she didn't know she could be with him, that a strange little girl with hair in a familiar style lands in Usa's lap while at the park for some fresh air. And to get away from her well meaning friends' smothering. Said little girl is stunned that she's landed in the lap of someone who looks so much like her Mama that she just starts crying and apologizing. It's all her fault after all. Usa gets her calmed down before taking her home, she's been SM for a while now and whatever instincts she's honed however long are telling her to not let the girl go off alone. That she's important and she needs protection and, depression over her lost love or not, she's gonna give it to her, damn it!
I think you see where I'm going with this. Instead of the 'breakup' that happened in the second half of the 90s R season it's that Mamo is Dendy when Chibi makes her appearance. Diamond wants Serenity, as always, and, what joy of joys, they've come to a past in which the King has married a different Queen (obviously he hasn't but the minds of the obsessed work in mysterious ways in order to fit reality into their narrative). And lo and behold, because Diamond knew the King was only in it for the power she could wield, the Senshi are fighting against the King, not with him because he wants the Ginzuishou for his 'new' Queen; Diamond's ecstatic. Because it means Serenity's his for the taking. No marital vows of fidelity. No spawn that man planted in her beautiful body to trap her into marrying him in the first place. She probably hasn't even been tasted yet, never known the pleasures of a woman fully grown. But he wouldn't mind being the one to teach her. No, no, he'd do so gleefully.
Thing is, despite the many precautions that SM and TK took whenever they were intimate, Time will always try to find a way to keep the future it wants to happen preserved, even if it doesn't happen the way it should. Usa is, unknowingly for now, pregnant when Mamo's kidnapped. The Key is acting as a shield, not that Chibi knows that yet, against the Law that says "Past and Future must not be in the same space for long." It's keeping Chibi's presence from affecting her Past self while being in said Past.
But now, the Senshi are being run ragged because they're being attacked on two fronts because a surprise second enemy faction came out of the woodwork, they're not gonna ally with people trying to hurt/kill a child, while they were still fighting against their first while also trying to make money at their jobs and keep a surprise child fed, clothed and safe from said second enemy faction. Usa's not gonna let her family be targeted, even if she has to claim of secretly being a teen mother who recently, finally, got her baby back; being an adult in this AU Usa can't help but act like the Mama she's claiming to be to Chibi. It's feels scarily easy, she tells the others, there just seems to be a connection she can't ignore, and she doesn't want to. Then there's how certain Shittenou are being weirdly protective of certain Senshi (you figure out how to justify not killing them off) when the Ayakashi Sisters try to nab them time and again, and said certain Senshi gets frantic returning the favor (you choose whether the sisters are saved like in the 90s anime or not and too whether any of the Travelers know about the Shittenou in their time or if they just don't exist as an AU timesplit) when the Ayakashi sisters try to kill them for interfering which they don't understand why! They're the enemy! ...Aren't they? Not to mention the hullabaloo caused by the miracle worker Dr. Chiba going missing so suddenly even though there are multiple people calling in saying they've seen him here and there but it's just Endou. And poor Chibi, unknowing she's Found Out and Realized, can't seem to stand letting Usa out of her sight if she can help it. (She really is Mama! She's alright and not sleeping, maybe dying, in a Crystal Tomb because she was a bad girl playing with something that wasn't hers.) Clings to SM whenever she saves her and only tends to let go when she mentions getting her to her Mama. Crying silently whenever she gets a glimpse of TK when she's near the battlefield and trembling like she's holding herself back from... something whenever she sees Endou on the street. (She wants her Papa to hold and comfort her, he claimed time and again that there's nothing in the world to keep him from loving her Mama and she wants to know why?! Why did he lie?!)
You can choose whether or not the BMC and the DK ally with one another and actually try to help keep Usa and Mamo apart or try to make them properly fight against each other, but ultimately (obviously) fail, or go the route of Ail and An in trying to kill the one in order to have the other, making excuses to keep the other sweet when they fail, and damn the feelings of the one who's obsession is killed because they have what they want. And/or Metallia and Wiseman team up in the background while the two fools who act as their respective puppet leader get destroyed alongside the Senshi they're fighting against while their own plans come to some form of fruition.

🦇 Sleepless in Dubai Book Review 🦇
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
❝ “Be the light. No matter how much our flame dims over the year, this is a time for renewal. Don’t let the negative energy keep you in the dark. Bring your flame back to life, let it roar, and be brighter than ever." ❞
❓ #QOTD What's your favorite Middle Eastern or Indian food? OR What's your favorite holiday? ❓ 🦇 High school senior Nikki is ready to celebrate Diwali in style—not at home, but during a five-day trip to Dubai! There's only one hitch: her childhood friend and neighbor, Yash, is coming with his family. After a fight at the beginning of the summer, they've been estranged. To celebrate the true meaning of Diwali (and earn back her parents' trust), can Nikki let go of her dark resentment to let light and forgiveness in?
[ Find my review below or on Goodreads | Literal | Storygraph ]
💜 The bookish bats who know me are aware that a) I'm Middle Eastern and b) I love books by South Asian authors that make you salivate because of all the delicious food. The moment Nikki mentioned Arabic coffee, I was like, "This is my girl." I've had the fortune of traveling to Dubai before and can attest to its stunning sights, so I connected with the story right away. Yash is adorable, Nikki's little sister is a freaking HOOT (I have three younger sisters, so I felt Nikki's mixed frustration/amusement). Reading this book was an adventure through Dubai without the long, exhausting flight. Getting to celebrate Diwali with Nikki through the food and customs was an absolute delight.
🦇 Unfortunately, Nikki is a difficult character to love from the start. While this is listed as YA (Nikki is about to start her senior year of high school), she's stubborn, childish, and a bit of a crybaby. She reminded me a little bit of Usagi from Sailor Moon. Her stubbornness toward Yash doesn't relent for most of the story, and since there's technically a third-act breakup, it takes a long time for her character development to really come into effect. Nikki's voice is off at times, too; the random "Bros" and ending her thoughts with exclamation points only make her seem younger (even though she wants her parents to recognize her maturity). Though the vacation only spans five days, the story drags at times, too. The biggest issue for me was the predictability; from the first chapter, anyone YA reader can guess every plot point moving forward. While the rich culture of Dubai dazzles and lives up to the real-world splendor, the rest of the story fell flat for me.
🦇 Recommended to fans of YA, books with TONS of delicious food worth salivating over, and friends-to-lovers stories with plenty of angst.
✨ The Vibes ✨ 🌴 Young Adult 🇦🇪 Travel / Foreign Food 🎇 Friends to Enemies to Friends to Lovers 🪔 Diwali Celebration 💞 Rom-Com
🦇 Major thanks to the author @sajnipatelbooks and publisher @abramskids / @piquebeyond for providing an ARC of this book via Netgalley. 🥰 This does not affect my opinion regarding the book. #SleeplessinDubai #Netgalley

Oh shit.
I didn't actually expect to get one.
Tab 41 is "Her Time to Shine" by WildRiverInTheSky. It's a Sailor Moon fic, and I haven't read it yet!
Summary from author:
Has a strong Serena. Total re-imagining of the breakup arc (very little angst, lots of personal growth), the Black Moon Clan (No ChibiUsa), and Darien's Generals. It starts with Serena deciding to try to get Darien the perfect gift: his Generals back. While she is distracted with that, he is pulling away over constant nightmares of her death. Rated: M language & situations

Your response to my SG question has given me ideas for a story involving Illaoi and Sarah in the SG universe. Still plotting it out, but something I’ll definitely have is Sarah at some kind of party event and she’s doing her thing in the corner holding a red cup and she sees this new girl who slammed a guy through the arm wrestling table.
Alternatively, they could be exes, but I’ll figure that out.
And you know. Stuff happens. I also like Amumu and Shyvana, that’s neat too. I could absolutely see a mini arc where Nocturne or someone briefly corrupts students and there’s a mini mystery arc about what’s causing it.
Anyway, rambling over. For now…
Its so hard to write and imagine Fortune x Illaoi outside the canon universe. Cause Ruined King was like a messy breakup/divorce arc in the end and that makes you wonder if maybe in a Star Guardian context this could blossom positively. Although making them exes is great, too.
Thinking about Illaoi becoming an irreversible and powerful villain by Nocturne's influence but the last thing Sarah did while she was lucid was arguing with her and breaking up and probably saying the meanest shit ever without thinking about it and she tries to save Illaoi but ends up killing her in the process, kinda like a very twisted episode like the one with Naru and Nephrite in Sailor Moon? That type of angst but mixed with 'I didnt mean what i said but now its too late'.
I dont know why we like to inflict characters more trauma than they already have but here we are bestie.

I say this as a chibiusa fan, season 2 of the 90s anime is most overrated imo
Out the gate in going to confess i am bitter that Dark Lady is one of the most iconic character designs from the series
and a lot of fans who never re-engage with any of its mediums including the 90s anime ignore her actual character and what she means as a character and boil her down to "sexy villain sailor moon"
Also the writer's given reason this all happened?? Like in the manga Chibiusa is magically stunted and stuck with a child's mind/body for 600 years and was getting bullied for it and had a lot of pressure as NQS/NKE's heir
But u kno what if her parents pretended to forget her birthday to throw a surprise party instead? That tv trope never gets old!
Like I know this was airing at the same time the manga was releasing, but even if they had to make something up, that's really weak writing
Not to mention this season has a big feminism writing kick with the 3 sisters of the dark moon clan, and their toxic relationship with Ruby, but Usagi's terrible 90s friends are STILL bullying her (for comedy!) they not only call her dumb and fat also start calling her unlovable due to her shortcomings bc this is the season that added
✨️✨️✨️the breakup arc ✨️✨️✨️
Lets have some fun on the 31st Anniversary of the 90's anime( March 7th 1992) premier shall we?
Which arc do you feel like is the most Overrated?
Let's define Overrated
Overrated- rated or valued too highly.
So which Season you feel like the fandom hypes up so much??
I'm also going to do one for Underrated so I'm just running this poll for a day and not for a week.

What if, after Mamoru broke up with her, Usagi decided to make him jealous? Would it break his heart too? Would Usagi have the strenght to go through with her plot? Happy ending guaranteed, after a lot of angst. This story is set after episode 69, in which Mamoru kissed Usagi to save her from the nightmares the enemy had thrown her into, that were slowly killing her. I wasn't really satisfied with the outcome of that episode and with how the whole break-up arc was resolved. I wanted Usagi to put Mamoru in a more difficult position, to allow him to understand his errors and live his feelings more freely. So here it is, my take on this story :)

So here is my week 2 smut (written for a week 1 trope (Sex With The Ex) - yeah I know I’m going against my own order lol um). ANYWAY beware this is SUPER FRIGGIN ANGSTY and written in the angstiest aged up version of the break up arc I could POSSIBLY THINK OF. You were warned! I hope you like it anyway!
