"Attack on Titan" Theme Song Artist Linked Horizon's Live Tour Heads to Blu-ray

Fans of Attack on Titan and theme song performers Linked Horizon will soon be able to own the band's "SHINGEKI NO KISEKI" live tour on Blu-ray. The animate International shop has the three-disc special edition release available for international buyers online, with pre-orders set to close on June 21. 

  The Linked Horizon Live Tour "SHINGEKI NO KISEKI" Souin Shuuketsu Gaisen Kouen Blu-ray covers the concert held January 13-14 at the Yokohama Arena. Priced at ¥74,073 ($675), the set is a pre-order-only production run, so you'll need to order before midnight on June 21 to secure a copy. While the contents are the same as the Japanese special edition, the guidebook is an English Edition. There's also a "mysterious bonus" from Linked Horizon in the set that has yet to be revealed.

[Saigo no Senka] Vocal: Tsukika A song about Ilse, a member of the Survey Corps before Eren’s generation. The lyrics describe what happened to her using a storm of clever rhymes! The song starts with a rush of adrenaline and then transitions into the scene where Ilse encounters a giant, And the entire hall was enthralled by the world shown to them. [Soyoku no Hikari] Vocal: MANAMI A song about Petra, who belonged to Levi’s team. Both her strong resolution as a soldier and her personal feelings are conveyed through this song. The multiple meanings of “light”, Along with the choreography of this performance Left me in awe of its beauty and tragedy. [Kanojo wa Tsumetai Hitsugi no Naka de] Vocal: Misaki Fukunaga A song depicting Annie until her sealing into the crystal. The song offers a unique interpretation for the thoughts running through her mind at that time, And the wavering emotions that were conveyed truly tugged at my heartstrings. The songstress, dancers and the anime footage all came together and did a great job at bringing the world of AoT to life. ≪P2-3 [left side half]≫ Guitar: Takeshi Nishiyama The bandmaster for this tour. His strong personality definitely showed in his performance of “Jiyuu no Daisho”, Where he ran up the stairs in the center of the stage. His blue guitar features the mark of Linked Horizon! Bass: Atsushi Hasegawa During this tour, he revealed the fabled song composed by Revo, titled “My heart’s on the right, whatchu gonna do ‘bout it?” His took the center stage with his solo during “Jiyuu no Tsubasa”, and it was totally badass! Guitar: YUKI He’s the one who played the bulk of the unison melodies in “Shingeki no Kiseki”. Apparently, his dive bombing during “Shinzo wo Sasageyo!” is meant to evoke the neighing of horses. Keyboards: Koji Igarashi He also played the melodica during “14 moji no dengon”! He unveiled his treasured solo arrangement of “Soyoku no Hikari” alongside Mr. Ittetsu. Drums: JUN-JI He really knocks it out of the park with his impressive drum performance! The teru teru bozu that hangs from his drum set is orange, his lucky color. Violin: Gen Ittetsu Leader of “Gen Ittetsu Strings” During the final performance, he and fellow 1st violinist Cameroun Maki pulled off an amazing performance where they both played on the same violin! Dancers: Yosuke Sato OBA Takeshi Matsumura Nobuhiro Shibuya Akane Takasuki Ayu Hosoki Minami Yajima They showed off a series of [AoT Dances] which broke all sorts of genre barriers! Vocal: Revo The commander of the Linked Horizon Corps. He’s responsible for all the lyrics and composition in Linked Horizon. The leader of Gensou Gakudan (Fantasy Band) Sound Horizon. His knowledge of Attack on Titan and his love for it are both exceptional! ≪P4-5 [right side half]≫ The MC featured various inside jokes local to the region In Hokkaido (Namahage mask) “Are naughty jaegars around?” In Kanazawa (Gold leaf sunglasses) “I can’t see.” As well as local mascots Anyways It’s a whirlwind of emotions! Special notes:

The album name “Saijiki (歳時記)” means “year-time chronicle” is the collection of Japanese words and phrases that associated with a particular season (kigo) which also used in many traditional forms of Japanese poetry. 

If you recognize, both Yuuya and Saigo were born around the solstices, but with different seasons —Yuuya’s in summer (the day with the longest period of daylight) and Saigo’s in winter (the day with the longest period of nighttime), thus this becomes the idea of their duet’s name.

“Otsukimi” means “moon viewing” which refers to the Japanese tradition of holding parties to view the harvest moon in autumn. Actually, since Yuuya is still underage, those two adults are hanging out somewhere else with mochi and liquor.

Spot something that seems out of place? Hmm, that’s maybe not your imagination or is it~?

P.S. Because I neither have a Spotify account nor know many songs in particular, that’s why I decide to bring this idea to life for the time being.

News: Linked Horizon’s “Path of the Advance” Album

Original Release Date: May 17th, 2017 Retail Price: 3,980 Yen (CD + Blu-Ray) or 3,000 Yen (CD Only)

Linked Horizon has announced their next album as well as a nationwide tour in Japan starting in July 2017! Titled “Path of the Advance” (Shingeki no Kiseki), the album will contain the first OP of SnK’s second season, previously announced to be “Dedicate Your Heart!”

The CD + Blu-Ray combo will also contain a bonus track.

Update (March 29th, 2017): Linked Horizon’s website confirms the foundation performers for the CD! SnK seiyuu Inoue Marina (Armin) and Kamiya Hiroshi (Levi) will be delivering voice parts, notable DJ Sascha will be doing narration, while the vocals will be provided by 月香, Fukunaga Misaki, MANAMI, Matsumoto Eiko, and Yanagi Mami!

A Natural Picture

Here I am with the next part of March’s themed week in “Throwback Thursday”! The subject is the second full album by the Japanese folk rock band Wagakki Band, entitled Yasouemaki (Picture of a grassfield) and released on 02nd September 2015. This release is the first full work featuring new songs by them, following up the cover album Vocalo Zanmai, where there’s an approach to the musical balance between the tradition and the rock energy. And now... let’s review!

-Ikusa (War) [life as a war]: the album kicks off with the theme song of the anime Sengoku Musou, with a fast guitra which introduces the theme, which is steady and features a rapid rhythm, along with a soft shakuhachi; Yuko’s voice is flowing, for a catchy theme, suitable as album opener. ---> 9/10

-Hoshizukiyo (Starry night) [love night]: the following track starts with Yuko’s limpid voice, accompained by a vibrant koto; then the rhythm goes on, simple and melodious, thanks to the shakuhachi, then becoming more and more fascinating. ---> 9/10

-Perfect Blue [being always the same]: a faster and cheerful rhythm characterizes this song, where the melody is soft and enjoyable in its own way; a really good and catchy folk-rock theme, reinforced by the vocal duet made of Yuko and the guitarist Machiya (who is even the vocalist of m:a.ture for who doesn’t know it). ---> 9/10

-Tsuioku (Reminiscence) [it’s hard to forget]: a longer track, with a more melodious sound and a suave atmosphere, where Yuko shows off her tender and fascinating tones, along with the shakuhachi; then the sound adds other elements, such as the male voice and the electric guitar, making it more compelling. ---> 9.5/10

-Hagane (Steel) [piercing dance]: this song is opened by male vocals, kicking off a piercing and energetic tone, with a powerful rhythm and whirling guitar riffs, as by title; the vocal performance is vibrant and warm, with even high notes; a powerful song by them. ---> 9.5/10

-Fuurin no utautai (I want to sing of wind chimes) [being free from pain]: the following track is opened by Yuko’s suadent voice, where the koto softly accompains the whole theme, in a song where the vocal interpretation is the core, for a complex and deep performance. ---> 9.5/10

-Hanabi (Fireworks) [party of emotions]: the koto and the shakuhachi introduce the song, in a deep and suggestive style, featuring even a powerful guitar and Yuko’s vibrant notes; a good song, easy to listen to. ---> 9/10

-Kyoushuu no sora (Sky of nostalgia) [believing in a better tomorrow]: this song starts off with male vocals, which then lead to an interesting duet; the rhythm is slow and quite balanced, accompained by a vibrant shakuhachi; a decent tune. ---> 8.5/10

-Akatsuki no ito (Thread of dawn) [desire of reuniting with the loved person]: the intro of this song is brilliant, where the koto creates a quite interesting effect inside the melody, resulting in a powerful toned rock theme, with a steady rhyhtm; Yuko’s vocals are strong and Machiya’s guitar is engaging, for likely the best track of the album. ---> 10/10

-Shiromadara (Vitiligo) [love leaves scars]: a rapid guitar opens a faster rock theme, with vibrant touches and piercing vocals, along with energetic guitar riffs, for an awesome rocking and melodious song at the same time. ---> 9.5/10

-Nadeshiko sakura (Pink cherry-tree) [birth of a new love]: the ending theme of Sengoku Musou kicks off with a melodious shakuhachi, where Yuko’s voice is deep and suggestive, for a really intense vocal interpretation, accompained by Machiya’s energetic guitar, making the whole thing more enjoyable. ---> 9.5/10

-Hangeki no yaiba (Counterattack blade) [never having fear]: Yuko opens this song with cheerful and flowing vocals, in a steady rhythm and good guitar playing, for another interesting and catchy theme. ---> 9/10

-Senbonzakura (Thousand of cherry-trees): *already reviewed by me* ---> 9.5/10

-Hanafurumai (The flower’s behavior) [flower --> symbol of love feeling]: already released as digital single, this track is characterized by the strong presence of the vocal duet, for a fast and relaxing melody, helped by a relevant rhythm and a sweet shakuhachi; a simple but enjoyable song, with a really good vocal work. ---> 9/10

-Chikyuu saigo no kokuhaku wo (Last confession of the Earth) [saying thanks for the life we have]: included only in the limited edition of the release, this final song is opened by Yuko’s fleble voice, leading up to a positive and melodious theme, with typical but enjoyable features, good for concluding the album. ---> 9/10

Final Vote ---> 9/10

Following up the incredible success brought by their cover album Vocalo Zanmai, the Japanese ensemble continued to estabilish itself in the scene, thanks to their dynamic musical fusion, now more confirmed and balanced in this album, the first one where their real talent has been completely expressed. In general there are all the features seen in their debut phase, such as articulated melodies, careful use of traditional instruments inside a more rocking theme and above all the vocal talent represented by the utaite Yuko Suzuhana, who starts to uncover her real spirit, charismatic and powerful as few female singers can be in the Japanese scene (helped by the great experience of Machiya, giving another positive score to the band). So with Yasouemaki, Wagakki Band unleash their real essence, in each note or beat they did, without any effort, confirming their energy and fascination. An album for who wants to listen to Wagakki Band’s own songs.
