World-Building for My Squirrel and Hedgehog AUs: Flower Hill Area Specific
I could not find the motivation to write for The Rod That Blocks the Lightning this week, so I made these instead. Splitting it into three posts, because they are pretty large and a lot of information. I also cannot draw well, so I have
So, I think I have finally figured out how my AUs work a bit in context of the Squirrel and Hedgehog universe, or at least what I will use. This is subject to be changed as time goes on, but none of this should spoil anything I have written so far, or what I will write in the future.
Shout out to @sah-headcanons for listening to me ramble nonsensically about ideas for AUs for the past 3-4 years, and offering encouragement the whole time as I had revelations to actually write it out! Might have taken an offhand comment or two they made and turned them into entire massive plot ideas.
For one, the continents appear to be about the same as in the real world. I am assuming the flag colors represent the dominant culture or country in the region.
Tumblr media
It is likely that Asia is more in the middle, but is blocked on the screen here. Some real life world maps have their own country in the middle to make it easier. It is safe to say that North and South Korea would be in the same shape and place.
As such, I think I can say that some of the same concepts will appear throughout all of my AUs. It does not necessarily mean they are taking place in the same timeline/AU, just that the areas, countries, and concepts are the same.
History of the area Around Flower Hill:
Tumblr media
As with regular Korea, it used to be run by emperors, and had a strict caste system split up by species. Strong predators such as tigers were at the top, while weaker animals were towards the bottom. Most creatures lived in villages located according to their species or biological (food, sleep, hibernation) needs, and did not mingle with each other.
Within each caste, there were hierarchies depending on how useful the attributes of the family bloodline were. For instance, sheep that grew wool rapidly that could be used as clothing, as with domesticated sheep, were higher ranking than sheep who did not have fast growing wool, or wool that simply blew off (wild sheep). This would help explain the appearance of domestic sheep, pigs, and Korean Village dogs in the absence of humans. Plus why accusing individuals of being a lapdog or running dog is apparently a thing in universe.
Likewise, animals within a caste with a bloodline that allowed them to see colors better than others were also higher ranking, such as wolves seeing the color green, since they cannot in real life, and seeing green made them more effective in their tasks.
Eventually, the royal families were overthrown, as was the caste system some time later. Newfound trade allowed different species to move between areas and better survive, leading to populations forming alliances with each other based on what they needed and for protection, as well as larger villages and some cities.
However, even generations later, echos of the caste system still remain. Weasels and tigers still see themselves as being superior over mice, squirrels, rabbits, and other, smaller creatures, for instance. Inter caste system issues still occur, such as canines that have trouble seeing the color green seen as lesser than canines who can see green.
Descendants of the old royal families still exist, and while some are content with their lives, others seethe over the lost power their ancestors used to hold. Some wish to hold the values of their royal ancestors, whilst living within their means. These descendants can usually be identified by the possession of a royal or high ranking family munjang, which is useless to many, but still gives the wielder much respect.
I also have the headcanon (and we came up with these ideas separately) that Mulamgcho's family are descendants of royalty. Although it does not seem as if he wishes to reinstall an empire himself, as much as live comfortably and in power somewhere with his surviving family member(s).
Tumblr media
Food and dietary habits are close to that of real world animals. Animals that eat meat subsist on seafood (non-sentient in this universe), small non-sentient birds, and insects. Cannibalism, even of the enemy, is seen as unclean and taboo, so bodies are disposed of as quickly as possible and thoroughly as possible to prevent temptation. Crematoriums are a booming business, although the wealthy may get personalized electrified coffins to dispose of their bodies in a more individual manner, if funerals are available, as seen when General Commander Jogjebi faked his death.
The split between South and North
Tumblr media
I hold the idea that weasels and other obligate carnivores live in villages around the ocean and large lakes in the South. There, they are able to create fish farms for food. The south of the continent is great for fish farms, as long as they are properly managed, although agriculture is possible. Other inhabitants live towards the middle of the country, or labor for the weasels.
The North of the country is better for agriculture, and proper management has made it very profitable. Fish farming is possible, but given the coast would require considerable more effort. Smaller species, and those who were not obligate carnivores, also migrated up north to avoid the amassing weasels taking over the power vacuum from the royals. Silkworms also thrive in the Northern climate.
Weasel Empires:
Tumblr media
Location and Geography: South Korean area. The weasels mostly live in villages around the coastline in small fishing kingdoms. Smaller weasel villages might live inland around larger lakes. Non weasel species, such as mice, also live inland in impoverished villages. But the villages are subject to being raided, with inhabitants being forcibly conscripted into the service of the weasels, when not taxed heavily.
Government: A central government dictatorship, but since the territories are scattered, the strongest weasel in the area leads.
Economy: most of the economy comes from fishing. There may be small areas of agriculture for species that work for the weasels. Wheat and rice farms exist for the purpose of making soju for export in some areas. Weasels levy large taxes against all non weasel villages, leading to very poor villages that struggle to survive and trade amongst themselves. Agriculture is looked down upon, so while farming could be viable, it is seen as for servants and lesser species.
Demographics: Mostly weasels and mice, some crows, anyone else they can force to join to their side.
Foreign relations and relations involving Flower Hill: The weasel policy is to fish farm in an area until there are not enough fish to sustain the current population. Then, they will create a new territories up or down the coast. However, severe mismanagement has led to a depletion in fish across the weasel villages throughout the nation. Flower Hill has coastlines, and therefore, fish. Which means more power and food to whoever takes over the area, which is also very rich in other resources. Also, forced labor for the fish farms, so they can rule over the area while they themselves relax. Many upstart weasels are promised fame and power if they occupy a region of Flower Hill, and the temptation of new servants to rule over. The mice are mostly just desperate to take over Flower Hill for the food, and to force the residents to work for them so they can taste a bit of power for once. Propaganda posters also promise mice and crows higher pay and higher ranks for joining the army, and the idea that they can treat the residents of conquered regions as their own servants.
Political Alliances: Wolf Unit and tiger kingdoms, and what would be the equivalent of Japan, in universe, that I have not gotten around to yet as I highly doubt they will play a part.
Traditional Clothing style (other than military gear): Much taken from the Japan equivalent, clothing is a Kimono covered by a Haori, although these are usually worn more by high class individuals.
Tumblr media
Regular shirts and trousers are worn by lower and working classes. Villagers more towards the inner part of the country wear simple, traditional Hanbok.
Tumblr media
Other: The idea of the weasels needing to stay on the coast works with a certain concept with the Kidnapped Scientists AU. It would be an interesting idea to have the scientists eventually work with the weasels by helping them conquer inland areas around Flower Hill, knowingly forcing the weasels to waste resources trying to get extra fish to the area before it goes bad, as well as having the army be stretched thin.
While the Weasel Country is allied with the equivalent of Japan, the country is not interested in helping the weasels take over another country due to pressure from the international community, and the fact that they see countries as too small for them to want to get involved.
Flower Hill:
Tumblr media
Location and Geography: North Korea, although I assume the rabbit villages are China. Varies between coastal, woodlands, plains, lakes, rivers, and mountainous areas
Government: Stratocracy, where the government is headed by military chiefs. Villages may have their own chiefs, but they answer to the military in the end. Strangely, more and more village chiefs are becoming military chiefs...
Flower Hill also encourages education and sending intelligent individuals for prestigious universities to hopefully bring back new ideas and information that could help the economy and the government, although it is noticeable that almost everyone that goes seems to have an affiliation to the military as well...
Economy: For the most part, Flower Hill is an agricultural nation, with plenty of food to sustain the population. Fishing is also popular, and many countries like the local goby fish. Science and research allows for many discoveries and patents to be made in Flower Hill.
Honestly, I saw sah-headcanon's post asking about what carnivores eat, and wound up seeing if insects were a food eaten in Korea. What I found was that Beondegi (silkworm pupa) is a well known food in Korea, sold as street food and in convenience stores. Which has led to me deciding that Flower Hill has a massive silk and silkworm industry that takes up the bulk of the exports. Good for lots of food, and also for fancy clothing for themselves and other countries, which bolsters foreign relations.
They will import what they need from other countries.
Demographics: squirrels, hedgehogs, ducks, monkeys, pigs, sheep, deer, geese, bears. Originally, each species had their own specific jobs, such as squirrels being farmers, hedgehogs being military, ducks being the navy, monkeys being entertainers, and so on. But that was abolished a few generations ago, and the hedgehogs encourage other species to join in the military or try other careers.
Foreign relations: Flower Hill prefers to keep peaceful relations with other countries. Even though they are being invaded by the Weasel Unit, they will still invite weasel leaders to diplomatic events and festivals. However, dark secrets are hidden deep from the international eyes. Many countries enjoy the high quality silk that comes from the area.
Political Alliances: Jindo Dog Island, Chaand Hadia, Chambelli Koh
Traditional Clothing Style (not including military uniforms): Flower Hill citizens would wear intricately patterned chosŏn-ot, bolstered by their massive silkworm pupae industry. Otherwise, shirts and trousers for when they are working.
Tumblr media
Other Countries/continents outside of the local area:
Tiger Empires: believe that they are of royal blood, and at the top of the old caste system, and will occasionally create small empires. Their disregard for other species usually results in their collapse. Tigers tend to be the main villains for many Korean cartoons, so it is an interesting concept.
Tumblr media
White-Naped Crane Party:
Used to be the upper class clergy and preachers meant to keep the lower castes under control. Most of this group fully supports the return to the emperors and caste system. White-Naped Cranes in real life primarily live in the demilitarized zone of North Korea, but they do migrate to other areas before returning. Therefore, it is only natural to have them appear at some point.
Their migrations have them bring back strange, new ideas of subservience to emperors, and they cause each disruptions that Flower Hill considers revoking their traditional permits to come and go as they please. They also tend to be found within the territories of Tiger Empires.
Tumblr media
Other Countries:
I don't think other countries outside of the immediate area will feature too much. For them, It's too much effort to get involved in that type of conflict for a country that is not a big superpower. I do hold that the Geneva Convention and international courts exist, but not because of World War reasons. Due to species restrictions, events like World Wars are not possible, but rules of warfare are, for decencies sake.
Travel and trade is still allowed into the area, and both the weasels and Flower Hill avoid angering citizens from other countries due to diplomatic reasons, which can lead into reporters poking their noses in there they don't belong...
Outside of Flower Hill, in more industrious countries, there are larger cities. Universities exist, and some are very prestigious. But, due to the lack of travel ability and certain species restrictions (climate and such), long distance and online classes are available and seen as valid.

Making a post because I CAN'T be normal about them and those HCs have been begging to be let out 🤸
Little disclaimer before I start, I will be referring to Kakashi hair twin as Sah, and he, and flat hair as Mekh, and she or they, because that is how I see them personally. The names aren't canon, but I like to use them as they seem to fit. These HCs are also my own and you may disagree, but they are based on my own analysis of subtle things found in the game, and expanded upon.
So let's start with this:
The appearance and ' mask '
Tumblr media
When it comes to the mask part, it is moreso relating to Mekh. But let's start with Sah:
Sah's Personality: Sah's personality is on the confident, playful side. He's very much of a jokester, and tends to make jokes almost out of anything, which might make him seem silly or simple minded. This is not entirely true, as Sah is very talented, incredibly skilled, athletic, and a major visionary. He tends however to focus on the big picture of things rather than on the details. He would be described as someone whose heart is quite pure and honest, as it doesn't hold any sort of presumptions or hidden intentions. He says things as they are, and sometimes may come off as blunt. He values honesty to the point that almost everything about him might be laid out on a silver platter. He might get competitive at times, but not to the point where it might tarnish his relationship with his competitors ( namely his twin ). Speaking of which, the fact that they are so complementary is seen as an advantage to him, and he strives on the fact that they build off of each other. He is quite aware of his own limitations and weaknesses, but he never lets this come in his way. Although a prideful person ( and rightfully so ), it does not lean into boastfulness and condescension. Any kind of boastfulness would mostly be playful exaggeration. He might be a little over-dramatic, at times.
Mekh's Personality: When it comes to Mekh, her personality is mostly reliant on the mask. Much like Sah's, her persona is very theatrical, flamboyant and seemingly confident, as well as prideful ( and rightfully so ). While Sah seems to surpass Mekh in rapidity and agility, which doesn't undermine her own outstanding capabilities, she seems to surpass him when it comes to estimation, observation, and strategy. She seems to be more serious than her brother, and pays great attention to the way that she is perceived, especially when she is in the company of others. Her behavior might differ greatly when she is alone with her brother, or in the presence of other orders or sky kids. It seems that a lot of effort is put into appearing as approachable and likeable. Mekh might often act as the voice of reason and focuses on the utmost details rather than the big picture. She also gets competitive, but often to a fault. However, she might often cover up her feelings of defeat with a forced joke, or another challenge. And this is where the mask part ends.
Now, this is purely based on my own headcanons. I thought such a dynamic would be incredibly interesting considering they are siblings; well, two parts of the same star, amirite? So, enjoy!
Tumblr media
Unmasked :
When it comes to Sah, there is not much that can be said about a mask, because his mask isn't false, per se. What can be said however, is that he may be repressing a massive amount of things and covering it up with a go-with-the-flow attitude, with humor as a way to deal with things he would rather not think about. All of this doesn't mean that he is not a hopeful person; on the contrary. He very much clings to hope so much that it may be to a fault, stopping him from facing the reality of certain things. He would rather not face them, as he knows that they may weigh him down considerably.
The mask part concerns Mekh much more, since the mask is a sort of imitation of Sah.
Let me explain.
In reality, Mekh seems to have a deep complex of inferiority issue. Although they are meant to be ' one ' , Mekh doesn't see this the same way as Sah. While Sah sees as complementarity, she sees as inferiority, and often feels second to him. Despite her genuine care and love for her brother, she is often consumed by feelings of jealousy and envy. Both twins admire the other, but while Sah might openly admit it, Mekh would think twice and thrice before even admitting to it. Mekh's admiration for Sah bleeds into envy, and the desire to BE the person that one admires. Her competitiveness might often gnaw at her, and she takes any defeat to heart, while Sah may brush it off and use the opportunity to build off of a loss. Mekh is an over-thinker, and to a fault. While this makes for great observation skills, it also narrows her field of vision to her own perception of things, rendering her more selfish than her brother in that regard. But once again, all of this is hidden behind a mask; this turmoil of emotion is unknown to Sah, although he might subconsciously be aware of it to a certain extent.
Unlike most people with a self-centered view, Mekh is deeply self-aware, and often resents her own feelings and incapacity to take things as freely as her brother.
Her strengthened ability to see also renders her incapable of ignoring detail, and thus being struck by the harsh reality of things. Unlike Sah, who represses the things that weigh upon him and clings to the tiniest bits of hope, Mekh is incapable of doing so and struggles to see hope in what seems to be an eternal cycle of life and death. Her resentment might even lead her to attempt to drag her brother into her own, darker view of the world, since she cannot seem to elevate herself to his level. This competition between them seems to be one-sided, and wholly internal, as once again, this is internal turmoil that she does not share. In fact, she may tend to be extremely cryptic about things, which frustrates Sah, who values honesty and just blurts things out regardless of their nature. Mekh always thinks of repercussions, and fears to expose any sort of weakness that might be used against her. While Sah wouldn't hesitate to show vulnerability, Mekh would never allow herself to do so, as she fears that her mask may drop, and her deep insecurity may show.

I've kinda been playing with an idea since I read a couple of fics that portrayed Winter and Bucky in this way;
I'm thinking of having James Buchanan Barnes, both Bucky and Winter by separating James's psyche with him having developed DID to survive when Bucky would slowly try to 'take the light' and try to bleed into Yasha's identity, which is all fucked up because of the monstrosities he was forced to deal with brainwash after brainwash.
All of the above is just one of the reasons that would end up sparking an actual PERSONALITY with Yasha, not just HYDRA's fist, therefore creating Winter's/Yasha's whole personality other than murder bot.
But he'd be traumatized, scared, and unsure all while doing what he was told to do by his handler regardless of the mission, only every now and then- between long stages of cryo and mind wiping when JAMES tries to sneak into Yasha's headspace (Not Bucky because he has a different personality and view on life and what's acceptable and isn't and view on his actions either by his body's hands or not) BUT NOT WEAK AND UNCOOPERATIVE.
Not until he escapes.
And yes, he escapes. Steve doesn't play a part in that until Bucky starts to fight for their consciousness.

Why do you headcannon Juldarami as having cerebral palsy? Not trying to be mean, just curious.
Thank you for the ask, I'd love to talk about it!
Of course, there isn't any evidence in the show to suggest that he has it, but I like to think that he does because it makes me feel closer to him as he's sorta like a comfort character to me.
There isn't much representation for people with invisible disabilities in the media (especially for those with mild CP like me) so I've got loads of headcanons. The idea of a character who is very strong and sprightly but also has the same disability as me feels very inspiring, even if it has no basis in canon.
Sorry this is a little long, I hope this answers your question 💚

the beginning of a history of violence happens 6 weeks after the end of driving force so it’s reasonably possible that sah and teddy haven’t seen each other for over a year in universe :(

⭐️⭐️⭐️ for jett while I keep playing baldurs gate LMAO
for each “⭐️” I get, I’ll write a headcanon about our muses @pan3m
one time when they were both in the capitol, a while after katrina's games, jett invited her clubbing. she looked at him with a blank face and proceeded to tell him "i would rather go drink lighter fluid"
one night near the end of the war, the threats he made during their fight echoed in her nightmares. she wakes up and reminds herself that she killed him, but it still takes her a bit to fall back to sleep.
one year evelin insists on making him a happy birthday card and insists on mailing it to him herself, so katrina helps her write the envelope. it is addressed in blue marker to uncle jett and has drawings of fish on it :)

I can see them as also having investigative reporter jobs, and they have figured out that Geumsaegi is a spy for an enemy nation that their country is at war with. But Geumsaegi has managed to make himself a much beloved member of the community, so they have a hard time proving it while going about their regular reporter jobs.
Everyone thinks they may have cracked under the pressure, and should take a nice relaxing vacation. Even better if they themselves are well liked by the community.
Question is if Geumsaegi also acts openly hostile towards them confusing the community into making jokes and rumors, or pretends to try and make friends with them.

I keep thinking about the concept of field mice in the show (also revisiting old concepts on species research).
These poor mice go through so much for the Weasel Unit. I know we rag on the Flower Hill Commanders a lot in here, but just think about how stupid the Weasel Unit commanders have to be to not rely on them more.
For one, these mice are super loyal. They happily go to infiltrate Flower Hill despite the limited disguises, and still continue to be loyal after they are betrayed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But one would think a field mouse would be able to tell that another field mouse is a squirrel. And the Weasel Unit Commanders do nothing to capitalize on that.
Tumblr media
(Field mouse number 2 on the left, squirrel in the right).
Of course, I assume that by field mice they mean mice in the field. They are more likely to represent Japanese dormice, who do have bushy tails. Also light to yellow enough that I don’t have to bring in hazel dormice at all if I want.
Tumblr media
Which matches nicely with red squirrels, who also have darker patches on their backs and heads, depending on phenotype. I just think about the work the writers must have put in to notice this. Can’t use regular gray squirrels here! (Asian red squirrels grow tufted ears in the winter, and you can kind of see this on Bamsaegi)
Tumblr media
(I have better pictures but those are at home).
Mind, I assume Juldarami’s pattern is stylistic to help tell him apart, but there are also many types of striped squirrels in Asia I have already talked about if I wanted to make things more complicated.
Tumblr media
So it’s a wonder that the field mice don’t appear as often, even if they are more of an elusive and rare species. They could easily call out Geumsaegi and Juldarami.
Tumblr media
Field Mouse Number 6 doesn’t even hesitate.
I wonder if they weren’t killed off by the commanders because they looked so much like squirrels. Also, apparently they are rare and elusive, so I doubt they would be drafted as much, considering the confusion they might cause.
I can really see Huinjogjebi and other weasels as going into ‘I have to protect myself and the unit’ mode and just purging them.
Which could lead to an AU or short story someone could make about the mice having to flee to Flower Hill in order to escape the commanders, only for him to later realize he’s made a horrible mistake with all the intel he’s lost with them being gone.

What always struck me about this particular scene is a two-part terror that chills me to the bone to this very day. One, these two crows knew their superior was about to commit suicide, and two, they did nothing about it as far as we can tell. No contacting a psychiatrist, no getting someone to talk him down, no, you know, taking steps to prevent the suicide. Just waited for it to happen.
Which makes me wonder. Is this kind of thing…common, in weasel culture? Is it some kind of honor related thing? I mean, the weasels are supposed to represent Japan, so that’s not the biggest logical leap in the world. This sort of thing does pop up later in the series as well (I won’t say exactly when just in case you haven’t seen it yet) so I think we can safely assume this sort of thing is a well-known, accepted, and possibly expected method of dealing with an especially crushing military defeat or, in this case, coup failure.
Once again, further proof that the world of Squirrel and Hedgehog desperately needs access to therapists and psychiatrists.
Jesus christ was this really for kids ? I know it's the DPRK but still

what are your favorite daleth headcanons? :O
Daleth Head-canons‼️‼️‼️‼️💥💥💥💥💥💥 (v.long)
c.900 yrs old
If I were to draw them ‘human’, he’d be blasian.
Refuses to eat chicken, SahMekh taunts him with chicken soup.
Favourite colours are pink, purple and blue
Always hyped for Days of Love, decorated literally everywhere (Loves Love)
Would hang around with Teth for hours listening to them talk about their inventions, never understood anything they said.
Says he doesn’t have a favourite bird, does.
Tea. Everyday, every hour, can never be seen without tea
Always wanted a child
Enjoys puzzles, Teth would present one to them and it would be solved within the day.
Is a bit of a hoarder, still has Very Old trinkets from the others, Tsadi’s prototype gloves for an example, but when faced with questions about it, they’d get extremely defensive
Used to have excellent vision, but was blinded in the process of their mask shattering
Desperately tried to keep up blissful ignorance for his people during the War (specifically the children)
Is extremely spiteful towards the other Elders, at first (after death) he tried to be civil with the them but quickly gave up after being faced with lacklustre remorse.
When Tsadi finally had the revelation of “omg animal abuse is bad!!!!!” Daleth was. So Mad.
Is the resident ‘nurse’ among the elders (knows basic medicine)
Not really a hc, but his temple is literally a birdcage. that speaks for itself
Sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen. They once caught Sah without it and they had to deal with an hour long speech from him.
Generally just falls under the Listener type, but ask him about a topic they enjoy and they’ll yap all day long.
Wasn’t an alcohol per say, but definitely had a bit of reliance on it in the last few years of their life, to deal with it all.
Audhd. If that wasn’t obvious enough
Fridge is just stocked to the brim with different meats (not chicken) and maybe some vegetables
Their bed is an amalgamation of sticks, pillows, other birds (somehow), and blankets, their very own nest.
Likes to prank others with illusions. and paint bombs
Has minor future vision, like, see a bit into the future but never past a day, and it's always blurred like watercolour
I was originally gonna talk about my fav hcs other people have made but loh and behold, there are very little. But I'd say these are all the ones off the top of my head, sorry it's long lol

…Am I allowed to share them with you?
I hope so
Know that I know absolutely nothing about ISAT so anything that is kinda tied to it in the headcanon hell is completely coincidencidental. Understood?
Imma share the valley elders since they are the source of my brain rot and I am proud of what I did come up with lol. And to make my life easier, spiky haired twin is Sah and bob-cut haired twin is Mekh
General
-They behave like siblings. Mortal enemies one second, best friends another second. The spirits are sometimes kinda shell shocked by this.
-They find it extremely easy to harmonize (in both physical activity and vocal activity)
-The Valley of Triumph was developed by those two, but the crab track (sliding race) and the manta track (flying race and citadel) were developed by them but individually
-They did undergo an intense punishment for interrupting the operations of the power plant.
Sah
-Sah is stronger is stronger than Mekh
-Sah is the twin responsible for Citadel and the Flying race
-Sah is fairly introverted and feels mostly in their element around the plethora of light creatures that inhabit the Valley of Triumph
-Sah can communicate with Mantas. This basically makes them their biggest advocate (this makes the whole Season of Abyss lore… situation a source of trauma to him. I have something else for that hehe)
-Sah was also kinda responsible for teaching the manta rider spirits how to fly and steer their manta mounts
-This guy has a mount. They don’t know where their mount went for Sah’s calls to not be reciprocated, but he prays it wasn’t the Golden Wasteland.
Mekh
-A very extroverted elder.
-They are responsible for the crab track!
-They don’t seem to have a social battery. They can communicate with others for hours.
-Loves crab races, though they do suggest that Skykids don’t go to the Golden Wasteland unprepared.
-They are responsible for organizing any event in the coliseum (Sah MUST help them, no questions asked)
-They like the light creatures, but prefers to spend time with other spirits and skykids.
And since people are sending they sky kids, have mine.
Tumblr media
Ooooohhh! I approve ALL OF THESE THEY ARE GREAT!! I love the sibling relationship between the Valley Elder they are so silly omg.also thank you for the sky kid!

Random Elder Headcanons
Thinking about the Sky elders and what they would have been like when they were fully alive (I use he/him for Daleth and she/her for Teth based on things the devs have said when talking about them but given the elders canonically don’t have biological genders I just go with some of them decided to use gendered pronouns while others didn’t - everyone is free to their own interpretation of the lore)
Daleth / Isle Elder
Likes solving puzzles
Stargazes and knows the constellations by memory (as the guide / ferryman elder I imagine he would be skilled in navigating by stars)
Takes a really long time to make decisions but usually makes good ones
Very supportive (concept stuff compared him to a kindergarten teacher), knows how to talk to kids (though he can sometimes get overwhelmed by the noise he’s super good with children)
Actually very skilled in both combat and magic. In his old age he’s getting weaker but he can definitely still kick ass
History geek
Blames himself for the King’s corruption. He thinks he could have prevented it, that he didn’t do enough. He still loves the King like a grandchild and wants to make sure he’s okay.
Ayin / Prairie Elder
Really good at cooking, even though the Elders probably had staff to cook for them
Loves baby mantas (baby light creatures of all kinds really)
Likes to make miniature models of things. would really enjoy those several thousand piece Lego sets if spirits had legos
Vegetarian
super patient. Almost never mad. Absolutely terrifying when they do get mad
Listens to everyone’s opinions on things, very thoughtful
Gives the best hugs
Very hard worker, incredibly strong. The kind of person who does not procrastinate
its canon that they snore loudly
Very sad over how the light creatures were drained under their watch, filled with guilt about it. Wishes they could have found another way that didn’t involve trapping the King in Eden.
Teth / Forest Elder
Could be bossy or stern sometimes, but actually cares very much about the people around her
She will snap at you for annoyances like handing her a shipment of improperly prepared darkstone. Everyone around her deeply respects her though
Introvert at heart, secretly enjoys cheesy romance novels as well as like. Business / mining manuals
Originally called the shaman ancestor so probably had a deeper connection to Megabird, at least at first
Nothing scares her (at least, that’s what she says)
Inner turmoil about her role in the Fall - knowing she played an instrumental role in the Kingdom’s downfall, but also unwilling to place the blame on herself. Despises the former King
Samekh / Valley Elders
Very focused on maintaining their public image and being seen as great by the Kingdom
Sibling Banter™️ with constantly trying to out-perform each other. Despite this in the face of a threat they fight almost as if they were the same person… or used to be
Former bodyguards of the King, watched him become corrupted. As the youngest Elders they looked up to the King more and didn’t know what to do
Liked to throw massive parties/spectacles
Because of this and their playful/occasionally flirtatious streak, some regarded them as more shallow and less intelligent than the rest of the Elders. Sah and Mek were actually geniuses, though prone to making impulse decisions
they judge you by how well you perform in the races / other tests laid out by them. Very dismissive of those who don’t do well.
Because of the “maintaining public image” thing, even in a dead Kingdom they don’t want to let anything be known about the extent they had to do with the corruption
Tsadi / Wasteland Elder
Got seriously corrupted by darkstone like they did in concept art. Used to be super in control of their emotions, as the corruption took hold they became more short-tempered and angry
Long-term planner, very good at military strategy and also strategy games like the Sky version of chess. Has an amazing poker face. (Ignore that the spirits wear masks okay)
Really needs someone to talk to, finds it hard to open up but has a lot to get off their chest- loss, regret, pain, things they could have done better, people they could have saved. Before the Storm they used to talk to Ayin, but now they can’t anymore
Doesnt talk much. Enjoys the company of Teth because they’re both introverts and Teth also likes strategy games.
Wanted to be seen as a hero, not a monster. Thought they were fighting for the good of the Kingdom
Enjoys books on military history and strategy
Cares a lot about people, bad at expressing it
Feels like the King used them as a weapon, incredibly angry about that
Lamed / Vault Elder
The kind of person who will silently judge you instead of confronting you about something
Always uses inside voice
Knows so many things. Passion is searching for obscure and forgotten history
Doesnt get involved in other people’s drama, would serve as a mediator in debates between Elders. Has never needed to raise their voice because a stern look is enough to get everyone to shut up. No one wants to see them get mad.
Fluent in sign language and several ancient languages
Good friends with Daleth, they have tea and share stories
MASTER at strategy games, better in many of them than Tsadi. Sharp-witted too, good at the occasional pun and knows if you’re hiding something/lying
Feels bad for skykids. Doesn’t know how to tell them they were basically created to die, so does their best to prepare them for the storm instead

My unpopular opinion? Alright, don’t say I didn’t warn ya…
But I think the spies from the Tokgasi group might have been better than Geumsaegi and Juldarami at their jobs.
Look, how many times have Geum and Jul been nearly found out (or actually found out) and had to fight or manipulate their way out of the situation? A lot. I’m not saying that isn’t an important skill for a spy to have, but you know what’s better than getting yourself out of a situation? Not getting in it in the first place.
The Tokgasi group clearly knew what they were doing. We see them manage to gather information on weapons in development and upcoming strategies that would put Flower Hill at a disadvantage, there seems to be a lot of them in a variety of positions, and Geumsaegi (and Flower Hill’s military at large) was shocked to find out there were spies located in Flower Hill, which means they were pretty good at blending in.
And yes, the majority of that group was caught, but that was only because Geum managed to get his paws on the list that presumably included who all of the spies were, who they were disguised as, and their approximate location. Of course they’re gonna be caught after that. But I think the fact that Geum needed the list to expose them speaks volumes about how good of a job they were doing to begin with.

Mission Oriented
Character: Commander Goseumdochi, Commander Darami, Commander Mulori, Guemsaegi (Mentioned)
Note: While I was cleaning up my flies, I found this short SaH fanfic I wrote a while back. The story is very heavy on headcanon so please read at your own risk. 😖
———————————————————————
In Flower hill military, Commander Goseumdochi, Flower hill armforce’s general commander and general commander of the flower hill’s military is known for his calm and collected manner while Commander Darami, his second in command and the commanding officer of flower hill’s intelligence is known for his kind and gentle attitude. Most would assume that Goseumdochi is the stern commander that need Darami to balance out and help him loosen up occasionally.
However, from Goseumdochi’s perspective. Things couldn’t be more different.
Darami is very mission oriented, and he will dismiss almost every single help from Goseumdochi if it could blow his agent’s cover. After all, Darami would rather let his men die accomplishing their mission while Goseumdochi would rather aboard mission to save his men’s lives.
At this point, Darami will press on with the mission and push Geumsaegi to the breaking point.
Using joint command protocol, Goseumdochi and Mulori decide to order Geumsaegi to aboard his mission and come back to flower hill while Darami isn’t around. Unfortunately, Guemsaegi refused. He disobeyed Goseumdochi’s order and continued his mission regardless.
Darami is surprised, not because Guemsaegi ignore commander Goseumdochi direct order but because a decision as big as aboarding mission is decided without him, the commanding officer in charge of the espionage and intelligence service.
While the commanders are having lunch at the headquarter, Darami decided to speak up about it.
“I beg your pardon, but did you give command to my agent behind my back?”
Darami asked, trying his best not to sound upset or disappointed that his authority was disrespected.
“Your agent is fatally injured, and to avoid endangering him any further I ordered him to come back”
Goseumdochi calmly answered.
“No, you lose faith in my agents, and you lose faith in my decision”
Said Darami.
“Are you only intending to return your men to their families as corpses?”
Goseumdochi spoke severely in a calm manner, he is slowly losing his head but is trying his best not to show it. Darami clenches his fist tightly in an attempted to maintain professionalism.
“Yes, if it will guarantee the safety of their families in the future”
Darami replied firmly.
“Isn’t that the reason they join the military?”
Darami hopes that he didn’t accidentally raise his voice.
Commander Mulori, the general commander of flower hill navy would love to exit this room since he has already finished his lunch. However, he still must work with this two for the rest of the day.
“We still have a war to fight so, if you don’t mind, I would like you both to put this behind and focus on the task at hand first”
Said Mulori.
Darami and Goseumdochi look at each other, Mulori is right.
The three of them went back to the main office, Darami is working the detail of IMINT using top-down photos taken by Mulori’s seamen on air patrol while Goseumdochi is handing out reconnaissance order to chief of staff to cover the area missing from the photo.
Once again, the hedgehog acted as shield for the Flower hill. Just like the night that the squirrel village was burn down, the hedgehog arrived with the first light to save them.
The hedgehog didn’t have to do that, they really didn’t have to endanger their men going up against an army of mice and weasels for a bunch of squirrels that dismissed their warning.
Goseumdochi and the other hedgehogs really didn’t have to go out of their way to used up all the ammos, fuel and money for their neighbor nation that were too laid back to defense themselves, but they did it anyway.
Darami looked away once Goseumdochi notice his gaze.
Squirrels are soft and small, they have no quell, they can’t swim as good as mice or ducks, they can’t fly like ducks or crows, they have no super hearing or leg strength like rabbits.
True they are fast, acrobatic and flexible but not to the extent of other animals out there, Goseumdochi thought.
He has to protect them.
