Playing DA:I again in preperation for DA:Ve and remebering the disaster that was my first playthrough in terms of romance.

Because the moment I saw Cassandra and Leliana I wanted to romance them (this was my first Dragon age game so everyone and everything was new to me) but after a quick google search I found out one was straight and the other not romanceable.

So I just continued to flirt with every one of the characters and exept for Solas because I didn't know I could flirt with him and when I found out I could I was already in Skyhold and got the romance cutscene with Blackwall, who I promptly broke it off with due to me not really seeing him that way. (That's what I get for choosing the heart option on every dang dialouge tree.)

I am now at the point where I really fell for Solas but I also didn't know I could reload an old save file so I continued my pinning existens for that stupid bald elf and tried to be with someone else.

Who turns out to be Dorian. I SOMEHOW still haven't got the memo that he is gay even after the scene with his dad and I still tried to romance him and eventually googled it to find out why I couldn't. ( I can't even really blame the german translation on this his vibe says it all.)

At this point I'm running out of options as I missed both Sera and Bull and could no longer recruite them, so I'm now left with Cullen and Josephine. In the end I chose Josephine as I liked her more and didn't really vibe with Cullen.

HOWEVER I couldn't actually finish her romance as I could not find an item you need to buy from a merchant in Val Royeaux, which was literally just in a diffrent window all I had to do was click on the book icon in the shop.

So I finished the game with my single Inquisitor and her very unsuccsesful lovelife.

ts3 folks: bad cc alert!!! 😭

hey everyone, so i have been experiencing an odd issue:

when saving certain lots in Edit Town mode, i would get an endless "processing" loop, until finally i had to end the game using task manager. this was happening even in clean new saves with minimal cc.

after some testing, i'm 99% sure it's because of the "Modern Kitchen Counters Default Replacement" set i made.

any lots containing those counters and cabinets would cause this endless processing error when being saved from edit town mode.

please delete the files from your cc folder and clear your caches!

I am not gonna name names (coughs @swollenbabyfat coughs) but my brain has been picked over and over again, and I succumbed to my need of going back to my roots and drawing Eevee!

I made these during the week before the last of October. The idea was to turn them into bookmarks which would reveal a "secret puzzle" on the back if all four were collected :)

The images uploaded are purposefully low-res.jpeg files. The idea was to imitate the nearly-lost-media file that's been distorted from the older internet days (around 2008), as a "tribute" to baby-old me learning internet surfing and being starry eyed at pictures with eevees and anime girls.

Before I drew these there was one night I lost sleep on, trying to find a specific eevee picture I was obsessed with back in the day. It was made by a user named "Rikoula", depicting a shiny eevee crying. It was my absolute favorite picture of eevee, and my entire purpose of getting better at art back in the day and for many years later, was to reach this level. Sadly, even after ending up watching eevee-tributes on YT (while not being able to find anything on the internet Archive, pinterest and the rest) up until 2012, I did not manage to find the picture. I hope one day I will.

I had the entire timelapse of these nearly ready. Sadly, as I saved the first part to be uploaded, I deleted the second believing it was the one "without music". I even double-checked the title and said "yep, 100% sure", even though later, before shutting down my computer I thought "hmm, maybe I should check what's inside the trash before I empty it". <<<<< idiot didn't do it :'(

I played tetris on how to arrange them and still can't decide so I settled with the order of the pokédex for this post. The original order I sketched them is like the tags.

So I would like to officially announce that this blog is retired.

It has been a great 12 years of absolute wholesomeness and bullshit. Sadly not everything lasts including my files. While I still have all the screenshots of every post I do not have the demoman model backed up and that was corrupted in storage and out storage.

So to end this blog let me sum up the story in the quickest and most understanding way possible. (I made this up when I was 15 btw)

So hugman fell in an endless hole that time did not run, out of nowhere Trigon from the DC universe pops in and tells him he'll save him if he takes care of his baby Raven, hugman does so, Raven doesn't like being trapped and escapes with the help of hugman while also opening a portal for hugman to escape as well. Hugman is in the white void of protection and does random stuff via the blog.

I had this idea of a proper ending for the blog for Trigon to find him and use hugman as bait to get Raven out of hiding and some fighting that results in hugman finally dying, but my motivation ran out as I grew up.

I want to thank everyone that interacted with my silly little blog and to wish you all amazing lives moving foward. I had fun.

Currently I am in the process of making a video for my sideblog that's going to take me god knows how long but other than that I'm just watching youtube and playing video games.

Sadly, I don't have an empty template to share since it was an edit I made long ago of Simgaroop's 4 multi-pt mod that I turned into a 6 PT mod. I no longer remember how I did that but luckily it's really simple and easy for you to download my multi pt (or any other multi pt with the number you prefer) and have your sim of choice replace mine. I did this every time I wasn't happy with the DNA I picked and wished to have a different facial features, skintone or eye colours. So what I'm teaching you won't break your neighbourhoods.

How to replace a Multi PT sim(s)

(Just a reminder, you can never use more than one Multi PT at a time, so treat them like a default replacement and only have one in your download folder)

For this tutorial, I'm gonna use my own Multi PT mod as an example but this can work with any other version that's shared out there since you're still gonna use the same GUID number. Which is needed to ensure the mod knows which sim they will pick up the DNA from.

So firstly, let's download and then store the PTs and Mod files in a folder like shown below.

You should have the sims that are being treated as the PT NPC and the mod that I renamed "Simgigglegirl_6PT_Mod". We aren't gonna mess with the mod at all but keeping it in this folder so that once you finish replacing the PTs, you have all the files needed together.

Make another folder inside this folder and name it something like "New PTs" so that you can store the sims you'll use as the replacement.

Now we're gonna make our PT sims. Open up Bodyshop and make as many sims needed for the amount your replacing. Reminder #1: Make sure to have a note pad open and everytime you finish making your sim in Bodyshop and click save, write down the date and time (or just time if you want) that's shown in the SavedSim folder. This way you can keep track of which sim is which since it doesn't allow us to rename the file while Bodyshop is still open. Example shown below.

Reminder #2: Whether or not you plan to share your Multi PT. If your planning to use CC on your PT then keep a track of what you used. That way you can include the file needed for those downloading your PT or so you know which CC file(s) not to delete, while clearing up your download folder.

I only made one new sim for the tutorial but you will be repeating the following steps with the other PTs as well. So after you made your sims in Bodyshop, close it and transfer all the files in SavedSim folder over to the "New PTs" folder, the one I asked you to make before opening Bodyshop.

Now open up one of the "to-be-replace" PTs with SimPE and then open up the sim you want to replace with SimPE. You should have two separate SimPEs opened up right now.

Inside the "to-be-replace" PTs you want to highlight the following Res files (Function - Main, Function - Int, Catalogue Description, Semi-global File, Multi PT - #####, [Object Functions]) These files are all you need from the PTs, so highlight them and then right-click to extract. Save them temporarily in a place you will remember to grab them from.

Before leaving, click the Multi PT - #### Res file. With a notepad open, make a note of the GUID and which PT is linked with it. Usually it transfers this detail correctly but just incase, you need to know what GUID number the mod will be looking for to extract DNA info from.

Now we can close this PT and move to your replacement PT. Right-click and click the Add function. Go to where you placed the files I told you to extract and add the XML files, which are inside each folder. You have to add them one by one but you should have all six files in the end.

If you plan to give your PT a new name then you need to edit the Catalogue Description and Multi PT - #####.

For Catalogue Description, the red underline is treated as the sim first name and the purple underline as last name. Remember to click "Commit File" once you made the change (you'll find it on the far right)

For Multi PT - #### you can change the name where BiancaBunnyPT is written. Leave the "Multi-PT - " part unchanged. I forgot the reason why, but let's assume it can confuse the mod on how this sim should be treated. Once you finish renaming the filename, check that the GUID number match what my PT had. If so the transfer was done correctly and the mod will pick up this sim as one of the PTs to choose. If not, just type in the right GUID number and then click the update button.

Commit and save the file.

And that's it! One PT has been successfully replaced with your sim. Make sure to delete the PT you extracted from and repeat the steps I taught you above till all the old PTs are deleted. You should have only the mod left inside the folder, at the end.

I would recommend having your new Multi PT files bundled up together in the same folder, as shown below, in your download folder. So that it's easy to find, should you want to edit it again.

Christmas comic cancelled

I really hate it when I cant be a man of my word. But sadly it's cancelled due to a stupid mistake. So here's what happened. It's abit of a long read so I'll add this just to not take up alot of space.

around a week ago I was trying out a game called Tiny Tina's Wonderlands since I'm a borderlands fan & I forgot this spin off was a thing. So after playing through it I ended up getting corrupter data on my character. I don't know how it happened so I looked it up trying to fix it. I found the solution but I have to delete my character since there was no option for me to restore it for some reason. After heading the advice I was able to enjoy the game again... until it happened again for like 4 times and I have to restore the character data by copy and pasting my data file through the game's files to prevent corruption only to end up starting in the exact same save point with the exact same build. I decided to dig deeper to find the real problem. Turns out the real problem is that I have no more data storage on my C drive. I found it weird because I installed the game on my D drive but it turns out that my onedrive cloud is on my C drive and my game save is in there for some reason.

I tried to move the save from my d drive but sadly it would make a exact same save back c drive. So I decided to delete the stuff from my drive so maybe the corruption can finally end. So I used the clean up option to free some space. then a restart was required due to an app I never use. when it did I finally can enjoy the game again. And then...I notice that all of my drawings from my folder in c drive was deleted along with it...even the wip of the Christmas comic 15 pages wasted.

So yeah I cannot stress this one enough and I really want to make it up somehow. I did have an idea but I'll just tell you as soon progress is made. IDK when it will be done but hopefully before July since I got plans.

Random au idea 1

It’s currently 1 am, the perfect to rant about this at idea I have. Will something come of it in the future? Maybe depends if I can finish writing my upcoming fanfic.

Oneshot is an indie game where the main character saves the world and dies, or saves themself and the world dies. Unless you delete all the game files, you can’t play again, further pushing the idea of “you only have one shot.”

Why do I bring this up? I remembered what Kafka said to the trailblazer in the beginning of it all. “Choose a path you won’t regret” or something similar, I can’t remember the exact line but it was something about how choices mattered.

So then the brain worms arrived and I came up with an au idea. The trailblazer as Niko while the Stellaron hunters push them to the predetermined path before the Solstice ending. Then for the Solstice Ending, that’s when things get interesting. I still don’t know who the World Machine will be (probably the Aeon of Finality or Eilo). Oh and then the Solstice team will be the Astral Express.

Did one voiceline activate my brain rot for aus? Yes. I’ll think about later on, but for now that’s all I came up with. Sadly, the trailblazer will now be the galactic electrician instead of the galactic baseballer.

Sims 3 Memory Freer

Been kinda busy so I haven't had any sims3 time lately :( but I'm back at it and lookin' at Error 12 again, this time with an ASI file you can use!

Here is a link to the memory "freer", spoilers, it doesn't really free memory. Please read the readme, but basically it just shows a message box/alert when you're getting close to the cap, and has a hotkey (f8) for setting max detail lots to 0 (sometimes helps free memory in a pinch).

To use it you'll either need the smooth patches ASI loader or dxwrapper's (recommended), then just pop it into your Bin directory (make sure LoadPlugins is set to 1 if you're using dxwrapper). I'm also going to update my performance tweaks post to fix some of the now-inaccurate information, but most of the stuff there I still recommend (just not dxvk).

If anyone knows anything that triggers a purge/cleanup lmk! It would fix literally all of this. I've tried traveling to other maps, entering into various editors, changing settings, chanting hymns etc, but nothing seems to work.

Unfortunately nothing I've tried on the memory-freeing front has really panned out, but I still have some avenues that I want to check out. The issue seems to be lot objects not being fully unloaded once the lot is no longer high-detail loaded, which causes memory to balloon over time as more lots are detail loaded.

Here's some things I've tried, in typical rambling fashion, a lot of this will be meaningless to 99% of people:

DXVK…. Nooooooo…. It seems like it does increase overall memory usage. I'm not sure if I've just stuffed a config option up or something, but it seems to have a substantial impact. I'd recommend just sticking with d9 for now, or using dxwrappers 3D9On12 (idk if it actually works tho)

HeapCompact/Clearing working set. Clearing the working set will let you save, however it wont actually remove that memory, you'll just crash instead of getting an Error 12

Obvious memory leaks. Sadly every alloc has a free assigned to it, so there's no easy, obvious memory leaks.

Setting D3DPOOL to DEFAULT, game no like, textures don't display

Manually clearing textures. Kind of worked, but there's no real way to selectively know which textures are safe to unload, because the game often reports things wrong. I might revisit this failing everything else

Deleting cache files/save cleaning. Not a fan, doesn't fix the issue, merely delays it and makes your game look like glitchy garbage in the meantime. If you're going to clean your save, just delete the _objects file in WorldCaches and then mark it as read only. The sims one isn't worth the limbless horrors that await you, and sims load in much faster than objects, which can sit grey'd for minutes (or until you save your game and they all load in at once and crash you)

Various config options and settings. I did find some neat hidden options and some useful settings, but nothing that really has a huge impact. I found ForceHighLODObjects which is what I was looking for in my initial performance tweaks post, which basically cures stutter, at the cost of much higher memory usage. Useless until there's an object free-ing fix, and even then probably a very bad idea on maps like Alpine County.

Anywho, that's it for this post. Remember to always save in the map screen!

Please forgive me if I was wrong or bother you since I know it's a presumptuous request. Anyway, thank you for the help and patience and all your great fanworks of tmnt!

Oh my gosh, I am SO SORRY for forgetting to reply to you sooner! But I'm here now so:

I sadly don't have the story saved. At one point I had 21 or 22 chapters but I deleted them. I thought I will wait until Emerald_Leaves' has finished the said fic. EL did finished their fic BUT did I save it? No, because I was stupid and thought the story would stay in AO3 the rest of our lives :'D It never even crossed my mind EL would go delete their works (which still hurts my heart).

However, if I'm not fully wrong, at least ONE fic from EL is on AO3, thanks to AristaStarfyr! It's called Caro mio ben. I will add link too, hoping Tumblr allows it since in the past there's been issues with links.

I hope this is small comfort to you and others who loved EL's fics.

Faye's Fòdlan Journey: Season 1 - Opening Thoughts

As a reminder, we're starting with Azure Moon first, followed by Verdant Wind, Crimson Flower and lastly Silver Snow.

This was a route order I decided when I asked around for advice on which order to play them (mainly if there was an intended route order like in Fates) and they basically told me "play Azure Moon first, don't play Verdant Wind and Silver Snow next to each other since they're incredibly similar" and something else that made me decide to place Crimson Flower in the third slot. We'll see how well it turns out.

Before starting, I want to make a small note on my past experiences with Fòdlan.

I was there when Three Houses was first announced and I watched all the trailers as well as some Youtubers breaking them down.

But once it got released, I decided to go on hiding to avoid spoilers, which among other things meant unsubscribing to the very bad, not good r/fireemblem subreddit. One thing led to another, I eventually realized Reddit did me more harm than good because at that point I logged in there deliberately to get angry, so I decided to delete it.

Which means, in a way, I have to thank Three Houses to get me out of there, years before Reddit crashed and burned on top of that.

The following years were spent dodging most (but not all, sadly) spoilers, witnessing third-hand reports of flame wars with morbid curiosity (basically it's as if there was a huge wildfire outside and I was in my garden ignoring it while grilling) and being increasingly annoyed that almost every new content felt like it was about Fòdlan. At least before Engage was announced.

So I my feelings coming onto this game are a mix of awe, curiosity, fear and annoyance. I wonder if that makes sense.

Speaking of annoyances, I have to talk about a small pet peeve I have with the cover art.

While I definitely wouldn't call it bad, something about it felt off to me from the moment they revealed it.

It's clear what they were going for, with the house leaders dividing the art into three spaces, but the end results ends up looking a bit goofy, especially with the infamous upside-down Claude (which became a meme from the very beginning) and the Byleths just slapped onto the background of a building even if it doesn't make much sense.

But this is mainly a subjective thing. What isn't subjective, though, is the art error where Claude's bow is misaligned. If you look closely at the center, you'll notice the end of the bow isn't actually ligned up with the rest of it, and now you won't be able to unsee it, bothering you as much as it bothers me. You're welcome, by the way.

But we've delayed the main event for long enough. Let's start the game, shall we?

The first thing you see when starting the game is an empty throne on the left, followed by a quiet rendition on the organ of the Fire Emblem theme. Already it's starting to become clear the tone this game is going for.

Waiting around a bit, the opening of the game starts playing.

First of all- wow, that theme. Edge of Dawn is one of the best vocal tracks of Fire Emblem by far. I remember listening to it on loop when it first got released!

Also I gotta say, I missed the anime-style cutscenes.

While I like the 3D ones these give the game plenty of charm, even if I wish they were a bit more fluid. Honestly, they make a solid argument for a Fire Emblem anime to be released. no the cancelled OVA doesn't count shut up

If this is anything like Echoes, this opening is made of spliced-up future cutscenes. And given a good portion of it shows up again in the intro cutscene, I'd say I'm right.

Returning to the game, we start creating our file and- ooh, boy.

Ignoring the difficulty options for a second, which are the same as every modern Fire Emblem save for Echoes (only difference being that "Lunatic" is now named "Maddening"), it's time for my first big criticism of this game.

Which is ironic, given that it's about all of the text being too. Freaking. ˢᵐᵃˡˡ.

Maybe it's just an impression I have, but back when Three Houses first released, it felt like every AAA company was in a competition to put the tiniest text possible due to the larger screens, with the result that most of the time you have trouble reading it unless you get closer.

This is a huge blunder on accessibility for people with visibility problems, and while it luckily got better especially now that accessibility is a larger focus for most mainstream developers (except, of course, Nintendo), here it still shows its tiny, hugly head.

And remember, the Switch is also a portable console, so there are people who had to read this tiny font on a small screen, so I'd say this is pretty bad. I doubt I'll play Three Houses on portable because of this.

In fact, I feel this is such a problem I will be including alt text on all the screens with dialogue.

Going back to the difficulty options, I will be playing on Normal Classic.

Normal because I'm an impatient scrub, Classic because I like having some form of consequences. Besides, I have Divine Pulse covering my ass.

Hey, I said I was a long-time Fire Emblem player, I never said I was good at it.

With that said, the screen fades to black, and the first proper cutscene begins.

We open on a large, rainy battlefield, in what I assume is the distant past.

Two armies clash against each other, until a human(?) named Nemesis descends from the skies in a burst of flame. Immediately he turns his attention towards his foe, the goddess Seiros.

The two soon begin a duel to the death. Seiros uses a sword and shield which couple with her general design makes me think she might be slightly inspired from Greek culture? Big if true, because from what I know Fire Emblem never took inspiration from Greece.

Nemesis, meanwhile, fights with... the Sword of the Creator?

Huh. Will need to keep a closer eye on that one.

Eventually, Seiros prevails, and in a fit of rage, stabs Nemesis to death over and over, yelling that he took everything she loved.

After felling her *heh* Nemesis, Seiros grabs the Sword of the Creator, lovingly caressing it calling her Mother.

We see the Divine Pulse activate, and all of a sudden we're brought at Best Goddess Sothis' Mind Space, where she notices her new visitor.

So. This intro.

Besides already setting the tone Fòdlan is going for (grand with a lot of death and tragedy and murder), it's interesting how if you're at least a bit savvy with how Fire Emblem stories go, you can already put two and two together with that's happening.

Granted, future games and loose spoilers are kind of helping me, but still. Let me explain.

First of all, Seiros is a goddess. If it wasn't clear from the fact there's a Church named literally after her. And given what most goddesses are in Fire Emblem are and her particular shade of green hair (the same Naga and Tiki and also Mila share), it's clear she's Fòdlan's equivalent of Divine Dragons.

Nemesis, meanwhile, is using a sword made of bones, which are what all of Fòdlan's legendary weapons are made of. And given they are all effective against dragons as Heroes and Engage show...

Well, it doesn't take a genius to realize where those bones come from.

Remember, Falchion is made from a dragon's bone too.

And given what Seiros says, it's likely Nemesis or someone else affiliated with him murdered all of Seiros' loved ones to make legendary weapons of unfathomable power out of them.

The Sword of the Creator seems to be made out of the bones of her mother, on top. No wonder she's pissed.

I am curious about the Divine Pulse transition. Is it just cosmetic to signify a fast-forward, or is there some time fuckery already going on? I guess there's only a way to find out.

Sothis greets us in her own, sassy way, prompting the Avatar creation screen.

And lo and behold, we went from Awakening and Fates' somewhat limited but still extensive customization options to... Just getting to choose the Avatar's gender.

*sigh* Listen. I went on a tangent about this multiple times, so I'll just keep it brief and say that given how restrictive Fire Emblem's dialogue options are, if you're not going to make the Avatar at least visually properly customizable then there's no reason to have an Avatar and all.

Okay. With that tangent aside, let's talk about Byleth's designs.

Male Byleth is my favorite. The outfit looks good and practical for a mercenary, I'm a big fan of the loose sleeves of his jacket (?) and his face looks neutral but serious.

Meanwhile, Female Byleth... well.

I'm sure I'm far from the only one who mentioned this, but between the random holes in her armor just to show more bare skin, her strangely ornate thights and her somewhat younger face with larger eyes... Yeah, it's clear what the designers' priorities were for her.

Also her expression makes her look like a doll. A doll having flashbacks.

I like her hair more, though. So that's that at least.

As a reminder, male Byleth will be used for the first two routes while female Byleth for the last two. But regardless, I will be talking about Byleth in a gender neutral way, safe for cases where I mention a specific gender. Because again, besides romance options, the Avatar's gender really Does Not Matter.

Here we have the first dialogue option, something this game loves to use. I guess it's why Byleth's a silent protagonist, although I doubt it will be worth it.

As a general rule of thumb I like to immerse myself in who I'm playing as, so I will be picking the dialogue options I think Byleth would choose, which will be the highlighted ones in the screenshots.

I know Byleth is nicknamed the Ashen Demon but I don't know how they feel about that moniker yet, so I choose to have them call themselves a mortal.

Sothis then asks Byleth for their name, which for every route will be... Well, Byleth. Not that it's ever said out loud anyway.

Lastly, she asks them about their birthday.

It's interesting to note how here, instead of using our real life Calendar, every month has its Fòdlan counterpart. While this is really neat, I hope they will keep the number along with it because I know I will forget about them otherwise.

Byleth's father and soon-to-be corpse, Jeralt, wakes Byleth from their strange dream.

Apparently, Byleth dreamt about Sothis multiple times, but this is apparently the first time she actually noticed them.

Guess she was asleep for the other nights, that must have been pretty awkward for them. I hope she doesn't snore at least.

The father-and-child duo prepars for another mercenary mission, when they're approached by three inconspicious teenagers who definitely haven't set the Internet on fire for years to come, asking for help.

The problem is of course, bandits. The universal evil of all of Fire Emblem. With a whole group of them on their tail and about to attack a village, the five prepare their counterattack.

Nassau Legacy

Meet Emilia and Oscar Nassau. A newly-wed couple who just moved into the misty town that is Twinbrook.

Emilia and Oscar are high school sweethearts, and still madly in love with one another. They're ready to start their new family, and soon would have their first child; Grey Nassau.

Grey certainly took after his mother, with his gorgeous blonde hair. Soon after Grey, the happy couple would have their second and youngest child, Christina Nassau.

Grey and Christina grew up close. Into adulthood, they always supported one another. While Grey became an acrobat, Christina went to university.

Grey would fall madly in love, too, and have a daughter; Francesca.

Unfortunately, beautiful Francesca glitched out and she and her mother had to be deleted from the save file. In the story, they died in a car crash, leaving Grey devastated.

Grey got remarried after a while, and would have multiple children with his new wife, starting with a daughter; Sol.

Next came a son (whose name I definitely did not forget), and a pair of twins: Courtney and Lydia.

These four siblings also loved their family time together and were quite close.

Unfortunately, Lydia decided to move away with her new fiancee and the couple headed to Isla Paradiso, where the two got married.

Lydia's husband would end up cheating on her, leaving her alone with their two sons.

Lydia eventually got remarried, and would have a third child with her second husband.

Isn't she adorable?

The youngest Nassau siblings from the third generation were so close, they bought a house boat together and started a diving business.

That's where they ended, sadly. But they are gorgeous and iconic.

Ah, mod entitlement. I have some related experience, for me it was mods that I once had published but had to stop. sorry to hijack your post but I have many thoughts lol. I used to mod for Stardew Valley and Fallout 4, then my various illnesses got a lot worse and I had to stop, as I could not keep up with all the updates and did not want to have mods out that could potentially ruin people's saves as they wouldn't work with current versions. Like, it doesn't matter if you write 'this will not work with any version past 1.3' people will still download and then get mad, so I just made them all hidden as that seems reasonable and responsible (and less work for me fielding the panic replies). I had semi hoped at some point I would get back into it, hence hiding and not just deleting. With stardew valley I was lucky in that they were cosmetic only mods, and there was a very sweet modding community, so it was very easy for a handful of modders to take on my work and continue it in updated formats (they reached out to me and I sent them my original image files and gave my blessings, nice and simple and wholesome experiences, they all put me as co author as well even though I wasn't actually fussed). From time to time I'll get a nicely worded dm asking about my old mods and I can just point them to the new versions. Fallout 4 was a whole other ballgame. No one was particularly interested in making updates to my mods- which is completely fair! One of them was a behemoth where I had painstakingly made looksmenu presets and starter character saves for every single named NPC character in the game- literally hundreds of files. Not an easy undertaking. looksmenu (the framwwork from which my mod depended on) and the game updates caused some wild facial glitches, sadly breaking the project. But I would get messages from people asking me to unhide the mods. I explained multiple times why they were hidden. A couple of times people were very polite, wished me well, or asked that I send them the old version on the understanding that it was an old game version and they would have to do work themselves to make them compatible. No problemo, I sent the files a few times that way, nice interactions. But christ I have recieved some vile responses. People get so absolutely livid that I dared to share a mod back in 2017 or whatever and they enjoyed it then and HOW DARE I not make it work 7 years later (you can't find these mods publically searching btw, they had to have stored the url back then, or had the file still installed on their pc, it's not like it's out there teasing people). I've had someone tell me that I should never have published a mod back then if I didn't intend to keep it updated forever???, even after I explained that I had to stop because of unexpected health matters (not that anyone is owed any reason for why I stopped anyway?). I ended up completely deleting the mods rather than just having them hidden because I was sick of it. Even so, I still get the occasional message, and I brace myself every damn time- will today be a reasonable person or an entitled arsehole?

Modders are allowed to have Private Mods

This got me pissed off and I want to make it really damn clear;

You being jealous of someone else's private mod is only YOUR problem! YOU need to cope with your jealousy, and being entitled to the point of throwing a little public tantrum makes you pathetic

I'll just repeat myself; Modding is a creative outlet just like any others

A lot of us spent a lot of time customizing our OCs, be it by manually editing their faces outside of CC options, giving them custom garment appearances that aren't available in the game files, custom bodies and custom refits, etc...

And none of you are entitled to it! We don't owe anyone anything The work we pour into OUR OCs do NOT have to be PUBLIC AT ALL

Do you go up to every writers who write fanfics of their Canon/OC ship because How DARE they portray THEIR oc? You can't project yourself or your own OC into this fic so how DARE they publish it? How dare they flaunt it in your face

Same as artists making master pieces featuring their OCs and not some no-name, blank-face nobodies that people can project into

You realize how stupid and entitled these statements are? It's really similar to how people react to private mods everytime they're told "no, you can't have it"

I'm sorry for random and unrelated question to usual topics (though it has to do with AO3). But basically, is it wrong to save and/share someone's fics on AO3? And I'm talking about downloading pdf files among with others that the site provides - it's still gonna contain all the tags, author notes, author name, warnings, etc...

I saved someone's fics because I loved reading them (and sadly this author has habit of flipping out and deleting everything, only reuploading maybe year later if at all). So I got all of them as pdf files - then someone else talked to me how sad is that the fics are gone. I offered to send the files via email to the person for preservation purposes, but the author was alerted of this and called me toxic etc, telling me that I don't have the rights to share or save (even though every work on AO3 is given the option for download.

Afterwards they did a post on AO3 about how nobody is allowed to save or share their fics.

Maybe I'm the asshole here, but I've seen so many fics disappear off the face of the internet in my lifetime, plus isn't AO3 archive in itself? I just didn't want everything to be gone again.

So yeah, was I justified in my actions of saving / sharing, or should I just do as author says and delete everything? (Side note: They said that they're gonna reupload everything eventually, but they've deleted fics before and reuploaded some, but I hate that this situation is kinda ''now you can read, now you cannot, because I say so''. And the situation isn't even something like ''author is embarrassed of their stories, and want them deleted - Old Shame, if you will'' - it's literally just ''you can't read it because I say so''.

So yeah, which one of us is right? Author, or just someone who loved their stories?

Private person-to-person sharing of deleted fics has been the norm forever.

You want to keep it a bit quiet. Don't throw it in the author's face. Don't post those PDFs somewhere public.

But no, you're not doing anything unusual here if you were just offering to send some PDFs privately to another fan.

I understand that the author is upset by their lack of control over their work. That's a common emotion. But they're naive if they think their fans won't save their work.
