What are the biggest fears of the townspeople in Stardew Valley?
Ok, this is a very interesting question. I tried to take into account the canonical fears of people (the same Abigail and Harvey), as they have dialogues that reveal their fears. Thanks for the ask, dear anon, and enjoy!
Warning: there are references to various phobias as well as sad and unpleasant moments. There is no detailed description but still it is worth warning, it may be unpleasant for someone to read.
Rats. Haley is terribly afraid of rats. Huge and scary rodents almost the size of Haley's handbag ... Eeeeeeep, gross!
To be buried alive in a pile of stones in the mines, to die of starvation or wounds, so that later your soul wanders through these very mines like a damned spirit... For Marlon, this is probably the worst fate that he would not wish even an enemy.
Acrophobia made it impossible for Harvey to follow his dream of becoming a pilot, and to this day he has to face problems due to his fear of heights.
Kent fears that the war with the Gotoro Empire will knock on the door of Stardew Valley, the home of his family and friends.
For Shane, the worst thing is if something happens to his dearest niece. Given that they live close to the forest where wolves and bears live...
Clowns... Penny stays away from the man with the clown make-up at every Stardew Valley Fair.
No matter how much Clint grumbles about his work as a blacksmith and about Pelican Town residents, his biggest fear is being alone. Especially dying alone.
The mere thought of going to the doctor brings panic to poor Vincent's face. And if he needs to get a flu shot, then all the glass and windows will crack from loud crying.
Needles. Bummer, why does Sam need to take medicine not in the form of bitter pills, but as an injection? Of course, he's not as scared as his younger brother, but his mom said that Sam cried a lot louder at the doctor's appointment when he was a child.
Poor Jas is terrified of the dark and won't be able to sleep in her room without her nightlight and plush bunny.
Every day, the Wizard needs to check the seal on his wife's hut, for he is afraid that she, in a fit of revenge, will still be able to unleash her wrath on the innocent inhabitants of Stardew Valley. If this happens, he will never forgive himself.
Sebastian has always loved watching the sea, but swimming in the sea - no thanks. One unpleasant incident in childhood, in which he almost drowned in sea water, discourages the desire to swim even in adulthood.
A huge crowd of people is what Leah fears the most, because she knows many true stories when an uncontrollable crowd in a panic can accidentally knock a person to the ground and trample.
Once Pierre visited an exhibition of vintage dolls in Zuzu city with his wife and said to himself: never again. Why dolls? He himself cannot answer.
Snakes for Marnie. And it doesn't matter if they're poisonous or not. Just the sight of a snake makes her break out in a cold sweat.
Abigail is a brave girl, but spiders have always been her weakness. And the fact that there are monster spiders in the mines... Brrr!
No one argues that good-natured Emily loves animals very much, but the sight of a huge predator like a bear or a pack of wolves causes her only piercing fear. And no wonder, these are wild animals.
For Jodi, it's the fear of food poisoning. An even greater fear is that you will be poisoned by your own cooked food. Even more - if her husband and sons were poisoned at the same time. She always checks five times to see if there are any accidental insects or something else in the dough or in the soup.
Who would have thought that Elliott has signs of lyssophobia. Although he is a very creative and philosophical person, among such people there are often individuals who are afraid to go crazy.
More than once or twice Demetrius refused Sebastian and Mary to have a puppy in the house. And this is not because he is harmful, but because he is terribly afraid of them (the dogs, not the kids).
George is afraid of what is inevitable and, sooner or later, will come to everyone without exception - old age.
It's not for nothing that Robin scolds her husband strongly when he almost set a fire in their house due to an unsuccessful experiment - the prospect of being burned alive in an inexorable flame in his own house scares the town carpenter the most. She treated the wood of their house for the sake of seriousness to minimize the possibility of a fire.
Maru can't stand honey, and that's because honey is the sweet nectar from honeycombs, one of the triggers of her trypophobia.
Sea sirens strike terror into the heart of every sailor, and Willy is no exception. An insidious angelic voice that cannot be resisted will pull you and your ship to the bottom, to be eaten by fish. Some mermaids are kind, but the old sea wolf knows what these sea demons can be.
There is no greater nightmare for Alex than the return of his biological father to the Pelican Town.
Somehow, I got the feeling that Lewis has signs of technophobia. All these gadgets, computers and newfangled smartphones cause him irritation, and then fear when he is forced to use one of them.
Poor Evelyn's heart was broken when she buried her daughter, and she fears more than anything that she will have to bury her grandson too... No mother/grandmother should bury their precious children.
The fear of tall objects, buildings, statues is one of the reasons why Gus decided to settle in a calm Valley, and not work as a cook in a huge metropolis.

don't know if you do ask but got curious what some of your favorite things about Marlon and also maybe your favorite pics of him in game
AAAA love this ask, thank you so much anon!!! I love Marlon and I will take any opportunity there is to gush about him!
Marlon is devoted, he’s got a good heart and wears it right on his sleeve. Take one good look at him and you see someone who’s (trying) to keep it all together. He was genuinely so passionate when talking about how well fortified Ericson’s had become. It was endearing seeing how much he boasted to Clementine about running the place and how he and all the other kids had worked so hard over the years to protect the school.
He is a tragic character, and although only appearing in one episode, you can sense there is more to him than meets the eye. He is someone who has been weighed down by responsibility and by the world he was forced to grow up in. These kids had been sheltered, most of their lives had been spent surviving at the school. The teachers and other staff they'd looked up to… the ones that were entrusted to take care of them had abandoned them, leaving them for dead. As a result, they had no adult figure to look up to and seek guidance from.
Who could they lean on now?
This is where Marlon comes in; I like how despite his feelings of sorrow and betrayal, he decided to step up and take action, even though he was just as scared and confused as the other kids. It highlights just how much he cares for his friends; he doesn’t want to see them suffer and live in fear. It's a scary world out there; practically anywhere they go, it could mean death. However, as determined as ever, Marlon strives to make the best of their situation, and they work together to make Ericson the home that they never truly had before the apocalypse. The fondness in Louis' voice when he talks about him is really heartwarming and goes to show how dedicated he was when playing into the leader role.
Marlon is a person who will do anything in his position to protect his friend's safety. As the self-proclaimed leader of the abandoned boarding school, he goes to great lengths to ensure that everyone is well fed and has a good night’s sleep. When he speaks with Clementine, you can see the desperation in his eyes; shouldering so much responsibility alone for so many years is hard. Despite his doubts that cloud him, he attempts to make it work with the limited resources they have.
The situation involving the twins is extremely heartbreaking from both perspectives. Some people paint Marlon as this “heartless villain” who will just willingly hand over his friends like it’s nothing. I want to pose some questions. Do you think he wanted to hand them over? Did you think he hasn’t gone days upon days without sleeping? Wrecked with the guilt of his decision? Spending hours trying to come up with some sort of rescue plan to get them back? It doesn’t erase the fact that he knew these kids… he grew up with them in this fucked up world. He’s literally still a kid himself! What was he to do in a situation where all he had was a gun practically pointed at him by adults who could easily overpower them? Perhaps he could’ve handed himself over, however what would happen then? They’d just come back anyways and take the rest of the kids without a second thought.
At the end of the day, he wanted to be a good leader and good friend to everyone at the school. He kept all his worries and stress to himself so that the spirits of the school weren't weighed down because of him. He was so insistent that everyone abided by the safe zone rule so much to avoid any conflicts that could disrupt the peace they made for themselves. Thus, these built up emotions/worries caused his eventual downfall and he died thinking that all his friends potentially hated him for what he did. Watching those hurt and dejected looks on their faces when being confronted.. especially the look of sadness from his best friend. It hurt more than anything. I love how they handled Marlon, even if I wished he and many others had more screen time to truly shine, the amount of impact they had is worth it. Also many love towards his va Ray Chase, he put in his all with that performance!!!! 👏
A bit of a side note as well: Marlon had broken his own rule regarding the safe zone as he managed to save Clementine and AJ outside the train station. Why was he out there in the first place? I believe that he was actually planning to scout the Delta from afar, finding any weak spots necessary before making a solid rescue plan to get Sophie and Minnie back. No one else was with Marlon at the time as far as we know, only him and Rosie when he refers to "when we found you." I could be wrong but that’s what I’d like to think.
As far as picture wise go I have a few of them! Mainly love the ones where he’s smiling!!!

Hi Lexi
What do you think of partially blinded Vi? You never seem to draw her that way, and I kind of just wanted to know what do you think of it as a certified Vi lover.
I personally think that while something like this can be "cool" (as in, being beneficial to the character design), it's handled quite poor for Vi and it just looks a bit... ungrateful. Simply doesn't look good, doesn't fit her personality or character (am I missing something?) and it doesn't seem to fit or suit her...unlike Kenny's iconic eyepatch. To me, it has become a pivotal thing in his design to a degree in which Kenny with both eyes seems a bit odd looking. I see it as a symbol which stands for Ken being a martyr and all he's lost and sacrificed. He is all about family and helping those he loved, his loved ones truly were the "apple of his eye". It all makes sense, doesn't it?
But for Vi, it's excatly the opposite. I'm just so sorry to see her like this. 😭😭😭 I don't think it makes sense in any way. Louis losing his tongue because he's so talkative and "won't shut up" does kind of make sense, but I cant help but see Violet losing sight as kind of lazy writing. "We need something bad happening to her!!! suffer the children!!!'- the writers exclaimed.
i think vi losing her eyesight is incredibly impactful on her character and i honestly dont understand why some people say its lazy writing. especially since it was foreshadowed multiple times. vi losing her eyesight i think is even more impactful on her character than louis losing his tongue because at least louis still has his music to express himself and uplift spirits through (and its not like he cant communicate At All. his note still makes clem laugh). the reason i dont draw blind vi very often is because of how sad it is to me. for multiple reasons
violets whole thing is wanting to be able to protect the people she cares about, and feels immense grief and guilt about the times she feels shes failed them (thinks if she had been there with the twins that day that she couldve done something to save them. feels she failed everyone taken by the raiders. is scared of failing clem too "if something happened to you because of me? i cant lose you too. i wont". its why she cant leave minnie after shooting her. and a kidnapped vi attacks clem because she doesnt want anyone else to get hurt. hell it even ties back to her grandma and feeling guilty about not doing anything for her)
so for her to lose her eyesight? she took pride in her ability to fight and now she cant do that anymore. cant protect the people she loves. and as someone who started the season as an isolated loner, it forces her to rely on those around her for help, stripping her of her independence (and her independence is what allowed her to stand up against the group for clem when it came to the marlon situation in ep2). a blinded vi is forced into accepting community, whereas a saved violet accepts it on her own. her and clem turn ericsons into the home violet could never see it as
the other reason blind vi makes me so sad is that it is Directly a result of clems actions. kidnapped vi had nothing and wanted nothing to do with the bomb, and yet shes the ONLY ONE who gets hurt by it. clem choosing to let vi be taken means clem both breaks her heart, and then burns out her eyes. louis and his tongue is between him and lilly and was a choice THEY each made outside of clems direct influence (even if it was clem who inspired him to speak up, it is ultimately his choice to keep talking, and lilly hurts him for it. its sad he gets punished for a character moment, but clem had no direct hand in him losing his tongue. its why hes not angry to see her in the cell. he doesnt blame clem for what happened), but the way vi is feeling in that cell is DIRECTLY due to clems actions. vi feels like clem abandoned her after she had put herself on the line for her multiple times. she always had clems back but clem didnt have hers. clem is the one who planted the bomb and vi gets caught in the blast. clem hurts her emotionally And physically. and vi apologizes for getting upset (she tries to apologize on the beach too before theyre forced out in the cart, so she felt wrong for those actions immediately even tho they were understandable. lilly and minnie used her moment of weakness to get in her head. she just wanted everyone to be safe)
kidnapped blinded vi is just so incredibly sad to me, especially when you compare her to a fully realized violet. a violet who has come into herself, has confidence, has opened up, has stopped pushing people away out of fear and lets herself love again. shes a leader. a fighter. a protector. and those are all things a blinded violet loses
neither vi losing her eyes or louis losing his tongue is supposed to add anything to their characters. its about what theyve lost. both of them have important parts of their identity stripped away from them after being taken by the delta. its supposed to be sad. heartbreaking. regrettable. unfortunate. they have not gained anything by their time at the delta, only lost important parts of themselves to it
#twdg#like idk to me kennys eyepatch symbolizes his descent into madness. its the impact carver had on him#hes 'lost his sight' hes losing his way. becoming a danger to the people he says he cares about#kenny gets waaaay too much forgiveness in the fandom and i cant take it honestly. his motivations dont justify his actions#i dont hate him but god do i hate the way the fandom talks about him#esp when certain kenny stans ignore all the protagonists and hate all the women/anyone who opposes a protagonists views/actions#EXCEPT for kenny for some reason???? like when he opposes lee its fine but no one else can do it#you cannot deny hes a scary man by the end of s2 regardless of his motivations and people loooooove to handwave it away#i hate that 'family is family' crap#have none of you ever had a family member do something so horrible that you cut them out of your life completely?#HES NOT EVEN BLOOD FAMILY like that idea doesnt even apply here!!#the whole point of that phrase is that you cant choose who youre related to. twdg is LITERALLY about choosing your family#s3 is the one that makes a point to address blood relations and what worth they have#ok unexpected kenny rant over sorry but boy does the overwhelming kenny love get to me sometimes. there are other characters#sorry i hope this doesnt sound directed at you personally its just the overwhelming fan opinion i see and it drives me mad#where is the NUANCE??#replies with lexi#plamglam

big fat May post, my main sve farmer!!! art is May over the years, ive talked about her here before briefly but not much
rest of the post under the cut is essentially her backstory, it ended up being WAY longer than i thought it would be though so be warned lol
basic run down of her life pre-farm, is she was average in every sense of the word essentially. she basically had nothing exceptional going for her. she lived in the suburbs outside of zuzu city for a majority of her childhood before going to a cheap 2 year college and eventually working at joja. however, she knew nobody at zuzu city nor was she good at socializing at all. it basically caused her to become a hermit, she would hardly ever go outside aside to go to work and she had a terrible sleep schedule as well as diet, she was overworked and underpaid at joja so she couldn't afford much good or healthy food (she also picks up sign language as a way to avoid social interaction after a while). after basically 4 years of this, she decides to read her grandpa's letter and boom!!! stardew plot happens
she started off kinda terrible at farming ngl, like may legit grew up in peak urban area and she saw barely any plant life, now you expect bro to be a farmer?? LMFAO funny joke bro. having a hard time breaking out of her former hermit lifestyle, she barely talks to anyone outside of small talk with lewis, marnie, pierre, and robin, and those 4 are only because its essential for her job, and lewis is because he knew her grandfather. yippie!!! she went out to the country to start a new life and it really isn't that different from her lonely, sad, former one!!!! may was initially hoping this move would be a cure for all her problems, but seeing that she's still the same person as before, and doesn't have a magical effortless personality glow up does go thru a sort of arc of resenting herself. other villagers try to talk to her but she doesn't really try to manage anything further than small talk. She does have a sort of mutual understanding with sebastian because of both of their introverted natures, as well as geeky interests that may especially got into over her years of being a social recluse.
This all changes when she gets into the adventurers guild, and i mean actually get into it, when marlon first offered for her to adventure into the caves full of monsters, she initially brushed it off thinking he was exaggerating. “monsters were just some made up story that only existed years and years ago, they’re practically extinct now!” which was basically may’s thought process, as the city intentionally covers up any news coverage related to any magical or monster related topics. may learns this is very much not the truth the hard way. rip bozo, deserved tbh. After this encounter, she starts frequenting the caves much more often for the adrenaline rush, a way to escape the thoughts plaguing her that she really needed to fix herself, not just her environment. She frequents the guild for more supplies and ends up talking (generous term for her nods and hm’s) more to marlon and gil. At first the two of them do wonder about her quietness, but they’re both used to eccentric characters from other guilds so they’re not too bothered by it. marlon even picks up on some sign language for her to use with him when she doesn’t want to talk. The wizard also becomes quite used to her behavior, being even more accustomed to unconventional characters, he even knows sign language so she primarily uses it to talk to him!! may finally finds people more like her in the form of adventurers and mages, it sort of clicks in her head when she starts to learn a bit of magic with rasmodius. her love for the adrenaline rush of adventuring turns to a genuine love of adventuring itself. She also meets krobus and IMMEDIATELY clicks with him, and spends a dubious amount of time in the sewers because of it (the villagers start giving her weird looks for going into the sewers so much so she starts going in through the forest entrance). bro smells terrible. by her second year in stardew, krobus and may end up becoming roommates. he doesn’t mind her silence, though she does become comfortable talking to him more often.
Also i wanted to show in the art of her getting progressively more muscular from her work as well as tanner, if any y’all notice her scars forming over the years kudos to u lol. She also cuts her hair year 4 but decides to grow it out again by year 7.. i should also prooooobably address her relationship with lance, considering she does get married to him later on. but i kiiinnddaaa wanna write a small fic about that ngl. i will work up to it or write another post on this later lol. but this is getting too long so i’ll end it at year 3. also she totally fucks with isaac. she may be quiet and socially inept but she fucks with people sooo much. devious in nature

Hello!
Could I get, Marlon and Louis, who has an S/O whose really good with kids and is generally very soft? Like maybe when Clem and AJ first get there, they calm AJ down while Clem's out. Or they've always been really good with Tenn and Willy, even when no one else really knows what to do with them.
Just a thought! I think it'd be cute 😊
Hey! This is adorable, I hope you like this!
He would love how sweet you are to kids
You two are a good mixture of personalities
Let’s say Clem goes on a run and AJ gets sad that she’s gone
And you help calm him down
Marlon absolutely loves how soft spoken you are towards AJ
He would adore watching you talk to the kids
Especially Willy and Tenn since their only friends are really Violet and Mitch
He loves how kind you are to everybody
This man ADORES you!!!!
He loves how soft spoken you are with the kids
He is just as sweet to you as you are to him
If you were to calm AJ down, he would love you 100x more than he already did
He loves when you hang out and cheer up the kids and he definitely goes with you
He loves your personality so much
You and his personalities match so well
Overall, he loves how sweet you are to everybody and how kind you are to the kids

OMG Talk about an episode. I Can't Believe Marlon is leaving Death in Paradise!!! This is a HUGE shock. I swear it's become a bad habit now when a character leaves, there is no heads-up anymore from the cast they're leaving ahead of their exit.
I really love Marlon and this past season has shown him at his best and brightest so it really makes me sad that he's leaving. Since the start of the season, I could tell right away how much Marlon has come so far in his journey on the show and I'm so proud of him. Although what I especially love is how everyone expressed how proud they are of him from start to finish throughout the whole episode, the commissioner in particular. Plus that hug in the end was so sweet!
It was so unexpected and I'm so sad to say goodbye to such a beloved character.

Fun with a New Pen
I got a ten-color pen over the weekend, and I've loved using it so far. I wanted to show it off a bit, and I had an idea today.
I've been obsessing over mothy's Seven Deadly Sins series of Vocaloid songs, so I decided to draw all the sinners today.
Duke Cherubim "Sateriasis" Venomania
I want his outfit. Give me his outfit. Let me be fancy like him.
His song is catchy as all heck and is one of my favorites of the whole series (especially ryusouta's cover, holy crap it's good). Weird for a repulsed aroace, I know, but it is what it is.
Super sad backstory that I can relate to in some ways. I wasn't locked in a basement for all my childhood or anything, but I was teased for my appearance quite a bit, even by some of my loved ones.
He can fly???
Banica Conchita
Gorgeous design
Has awesome powers
Ate herself just to save her child and became the new demon of gluttony in the process. That's metal as all heck.
Her song has an awesome instrumental, and the lyrics are nice and subtly horrifying.
Riliane Lucifen d'Autriche
Needed her own page because of how stupid frilly her dress is
Seriously, we get it. You're royalty. But make yourself easier to draw.
Least favorite song in the series, but I don't hate it. I love ryusouta's cover of the Velvet Mix, though.
Another super sad story, especially with Servant of Evil for extra context. Who could've guessed? Poor Kagamines can't catch a break.
Margarita Blankenheim
I used to hate her song for some reason, but I love it now. Both the melody and the instrumental are gorgeous.
Didn't deserve such a crappy husband
She has a special gift for you.
Actually a doll possessed by Eve Moonlit for some reason? What even is this series??? (Even though I love it dearly)
Kayo Sudou
Scariest song in my opinion. It may go on a bit longer than I'd like, but the way the story builds is terrifying.
Color-changing scissors that totally aren't stained with blood
Was kind of doomed from the start since her mom was the demon of envy. I'll give her credit for trying, though.
Very talented tailor, for what it's worth
Gallerian Marlon
👌
Another song with an awesome instrumental. The key changes make me feel extra evil when I listen to it. And the gavels. Oh my gosh, the gavels.
Poor dude went crazy over a spoon.
We all know he's Nemesis' dad, but they're also half-siblings? And neither of them had any idea?? What the actual heck, Ma--???
Nemesis Sudou
Also has one of my favorite songs (no, I'm totally not biased toward the Internet Co. Vocaloids, what are you talking about--). It's super dramatic and bold, and the key change at the end really gives it--and the whole series--a sense of finality.
Didn't even want a contract with the demon of wrath, but hey, she got a cool pet octopus out of it.
Her backstory hits me right in the feels. Seriously, being ordered by your estranged father to kill your lover--and not even having any idea that he's your father until after the fact? Ouch.
Becoming a dictator may have been a bit much, though
And the moral of the story is: listen to ryusouta's covers of these songs. (No, but seriously, they're awesome.) And the Evillious Chronicles is a crazy series, but the Vocaloid fandom wouldn't be the same without it.

summer rolled around and Ori was Never happier than now! after throwing away all the joja spam mail they got, they spent all morning sitting between the wild flowers but then got to work on building the big summer farm they envisioned !small steps though so they started with 10 seeds of each plant available from Pierre!
after that they set out on their first task for the adventure guild, they got tasked to aid with the research wing of the guild led by Marlon's nephews Gabriel and Zennia!
Gabriel asked Ori to look for something called a slime Gem in the mines amongst the slimes as it will aid him in his studies of Slime behaviors
it took Ori two days to find the slime gem and gave it to Gabriel who concluded that this gem was imbued with some sort of magic that he needs to research more! Gabriel said he would send them a letter when has any breakthrough with the gem.
the next day after watering the plants ori looked through thier mail and sad that their dad has sent them a lovely message ( and 500 gold ! ) feeling more optimistic than ever Ori for the first time in a long time felt happy! they were still weary of the days to come especially with this new life of dangerous adventuring but nothing cant be fixed with pats and scritches of the lovely snooch the pooch <3

This is the Buddy for January 16th.
I mentioned Jim Steranko yesterday, who tragically turned into a a right wing extremist on Twitter in old age. And on June 15th, I talked about Neal Adams, another comics artist who also became known as quite a nutjob, although under an entirely different context - and going off in an entirely different direction.
It's sad, but it's part of life - in fact, it's expected since political movements nowadays are kind of designed to brainwash people and get them hooked on hatred. Seeing someone fall down the rabbit hole of extremism, especially online, is seeing them be both a victim and a weapon of this system. And even if I don't want to let creatives like Steranko and Adams off the hook, it's still a pity.
The same thing happened to J. K. Rowling. I was a huge Harry Potter fan when the books were coming out - at least for the first half of the story, the later books and the ending were kind of disappointing - and it's depressing to see what she's metamorphosed into. Even before the internet, something similar happened to Al Capp, in the 1970ies.
In J. K. Rowling's case, a lot of former fans talked about how important it was to separate the art from the artist, and how they still enjoyed the Harry Potter books despite their minor flaws, and the author's major flaws. Although the issue wasn't politics but ego and talent, Star Wars fans felt the same way about George Lucas. Looking back at the Potter books, I can't help but think "that's it? That's the wonderful piece of literature people felt was so important they were heartbroken when the author turned out to be a raving loonie?"
But still, I have fond memories of the book. And of Neal Adams, or Star Wars, John Cleese, Roald Dahl, Marlon Brando, Graham Linehan... I see them more as victims of the culture war than anything else. Tough times.
This has nothing to do with today's Buddy, though... other than the fact I used the same Inkscape technique I used on June 15th (the Adams birthday one) to make the smoke coming out of his cigarette. I like the all-red coloring. Back in the Silver Age of comics, it was common to see background characters or figures in abstract images being covered in a single color (usually magenta because they used the CMYK model, and cyan was reserved for the background) but we never see it anymore, nowadays. People think it's lazy.

I don't have the slightest idea, what it is about this game.
But Telltale Games managed to bring a form of atmosphere to life, that gives me the chills, every single time I see certain things in the game. And it's so different for each scene, in which this happens.
But what's the best about this game, is that it brings me to show emotions. There are very few games, that can actually manage to bring me to tears or laugh at the top of my lungs, and this is one of it.
The fact, that this game can compete with Undertale, Red Dead Redemption and Half Life, at least on my personal list of 'Best Games I ever played', is incredible.
I've played a lot of different video games in my not-so-long-life now, from a very young age on.
Pokémon, Wolfenstein, Metal Gear, Sonic the Hedgehog, Far Cry, you name it, I've probably played or at least seen it.
And yeah, there are only so many games, that brought me to the verge of tears. This one here even managed it three different times in a row.
When Lee died.
When Kenny wanted to leave us in front of that gate.
And at the end of Season Four.
That's a new record. I mean, yeah, I tend to get emotional in the scenes, where the developers want us to get emotional, but it's not like I cry every time a bunny dies in a game.
As I mentioned, there are scenes, where the emotion isn't even sadness, but... something else and I can't quite describe it, but I like it.
When Minnie starts singing on that bridge, I swear, I had goosebumps and was thrilled to fight her (especially because the frikin' bow said 'One last fight' to me right before that and I hated it). I fucking screamed when I lost that bow.
That look Marlon has in his eyes, when we call him pathetic? Gets me every time. I even talked about it to my best friend, the fact that a pair of eyes can make me feel so weird, like I just destroyed a whole life, it's... I dunno, the impact is there and I can clearly see it. My actions have consequences. And I get a physical effect, because my stomach hurts every time I pick that option (and I'm sorry for every single time, Marlon).
The moment we let go of Ben in the belltower? Jesus. I am broken afterwards. The first time I played this game, I was so desperate when I let go of him. I couldn't even move.
I gotta admit, I only played Lee's death scene one time in my entire life. And the reason why is that I know I'm gonna cry again. Somehow the scene that makes me cry even more though, is when Kenny almost leaves us at that gate with AJ. I swear... that scenes is probably one of the most emotional ones I ever saw in video games and I kid you not, I was crying for five minutes after I finished that season.
Luke in the ice? That was a what the fuck moment, yes. But for me personally, the look he gives us when we decide to sit with Kenny instead of him is even worse. I dunno what it is, but for real, I can't deal with hurting people emotionally. Not in video games, not in real life.
And then there is this scene with the cannibals. Everybody's dead, we fight the last of the brothers and he yells at us to come back and finish the business. I decided to kill him the first time, because my sister and I were very pumped up and pissed, but when I replayed it with one of my best friends, he decided to let him stay alive, which was... worse. That soundtrack 'Bitter Revenge' that plays in the background, seeing all these walkers rush in there, his mother crawling out of the house... Christ, that was horrible. I think we were really quiet for a few seconds after that, just taking in that scene, while trying to process it.
Last but not least. The end. The fucking light. The fucking leaves that fall to the ground. Clementine coming in on her crutches. I can't. I just love it. When the camera goes over all the people we lost in the last season, Marlon, Brody, Mitch, Tenn/Violet/Louis, I get the same feeling I got when Snake killed The Boss and the flowers turned red. It's just so final. They won't come back, ever, but somehow, in a way, they had such an impact on the story, that they kinda carry this whole thing with this one shot of the graves. I... forgive me, I have no idea how to talk xD
Of course, there are a lot more of these scenes, I just wanted to name a few that came to my mind right now. This game is amazing in any way.
I don't care that sometimes Lee spins around like a beyblade. I don't care, that Marlon looks like a puppet on strings in that confrontation scene. I don't give two shits about how Louis dreadlocks move, if they even move at all.
This game is a masterpiece, because it affected me emotionally like no other game before, except Red Dead Redemption, and maybe Metal Gear Solid 3, but considering the fact, that both of these games are WAY bigger than TWDG and had a lot more people with a WAY bigger budget behind them, TWDG is still one of the best.
.....
.....
And for fucks sake, Telltale Games gave me wide neck T-Shirt Marlon in Road to Survival, so my thirsty self is content as well.
Just joking. I'm not that desperate.
No, wait, I am.
I'm so looking forward to the frikin holidays. Imma draw a lot. And write a lot. And possibly cry a lot.

How would Magnus and Marlon, being sort of mentor figures, respond if the farmer admitted to not taking care of themself simply because farmer doesn’t care about their health? They routinely pass out from exhaustion and admit it’s because they don’t care enough to get back to bed. And don’t eat except for an occasional cave carrot in the mines. Very obviously not hydrating (the only drinks in SDV are mayo, tea, and coffee). They also preform dangerous acts just for money.
Bonus if there’s a Magnus reaction for his S/O farmer.
Oooh, the angst one! Sure thing 😊 Thanks for you ask! 💕
⚠️ Warning: self-neglect
_________________________________________
"......"
"...Kid, you need help."
Both Marlon and Magnus don't know how they should react to such a statement from their friend and student. Total incomprehension, sadness at Farmer's condition, anger at Farmer for allowing themself to be treated like that.... and anger at themselves for not noticing Farmer's problem earlier.
But on the other hand - what can they do? Farmer clearly has mental health problems, and that's a problem beyond the comprehension of a one-eyed adventurer and wizard. Especially since Farmer was an adult, and made this decision on their own. But still, they couldn't let it go...
Marlon is very attached to his young member of the Guild, so he will try to find out their reason for such irresponsible attitude to their health and help to the best of his ability. But if Farmer will not listen to him... Well, Marlon is seriously considering temporarily suspending Farmer from their duties as an adventurer. The decision hasn't been made yet, but the Guild leader is consulting with the same Magnus and Gil.
No, he doesn't want to expel and banish Farmer, but this... it's not normal. Their mental instability, which affects their physical health as well, could fail them at the worst possible moment. Too weak to hold a sword and be killed by a monster's claws, faint in the middle of a battle or far from civilisation where no one can help you, starvation... Not to mention the fact that they might thus let down their colleagues or the people they have agreed to accompany on adventures.
A harsh but necessary decision. The old adventurer himself will keep an eye on them, offering a helping hand and asking the locals how Farmer is doing. But Marlon also believes that if the Farmer doesn't want help, no one can help them forcibly.
Magnus is of the same opinion as Marlon in terms of restricting Farmer from assignments and magic lessons until they find help for themselves. Naturally, like the one-eyed adventurer himself, the wizard won't just leave his student alone, and will even recommend a therapist from the non-magical world who can help them. In the meantime... Rasmodius will advise them to refrain from all magic and adventure, to focus on their health, both physical and mental.
If Magnus is the Farmer's boyfriend/husband, naturally the wizard will be involved head over heels in solving the problem, because seeing his love in such a state.... It breaks his heart. Things might get to the point where Magnus is seriously considering wondering if someone has cursed Farmer, because.... Drinking mayonnaise and eating half-rotten carrots might be someone's spell as a cruel joke (*cough* A hint of a curse from his ex-wife, the Bitch Witch).

i just think a "friended/romanced + saved + trust aj" violet does such a good job rounding out the plot and characters of S4 and i dont say that lightly
she walls people off out of fear just like S3 clem did and learned to grow out of through the compassion of others. feeling like she could have done more to save minnie being what initially makes her step up to lead, but her accepting her love for clem (and clem choosing to save her) is what leads to her Truly accepting the school and everyone inside it as her Home and gives her something to fight for ("i tried my damnedest not to care about either of you. and i still couldnt tell you why." "i know where youre coming from. after losing so many people, sometimes its easier to keep everyone at arms length." "and then you wonder why you fight so hard to stay alive. i dont wonder anymore."). this being the reasoning behind violets detachment from the school, as well as a negative home life impacting her idea of what a home even was. but together they turn ericson from a prison into the home theyve BOTH been looking for, renaming it together, and envisioning it for the future together. the two of them understand each other deeply, from what theyve lost to how its affected them and the poor ways theyve decided to react to it. but through their support of the other, they BOTH get to evolve into more relaxed and confident versions of themselves, who know Exactly what theyre fighting for
her troubled relationship with brody and getting to learn more about what happened with the twins/violets reaction to it and how she ultimately blames herself/brodys guilt about her part in it and how she misses violet. getting the chance to mend that relationship before its too late. the 3 of them becoming closer because of it. and getting to develop clems friendship with brody leads to a more impactful moment later in the basement
her relationship with tenn reflecting clems relationship with aj, in the way they both made the decision to look after their respective boys after their primary guardians died (ajs parents, tenns sisters). both of them can understand the responsibilities they have taken upon themselves, and how hard it can be to do right. the 4 of them become a tight knit group quickly. especially in EP2 as vi supports clem while tenn supports aj through the marlon fiasco
her confused relationship with minerva introducing interesting conflict both within her relationship with clem (who has her own personal conflict with minerva, which vi still ties into through her relationship with both minnie and tenn) and the over arching plot, which has themes of learning when to let someone go because they are no longer who they once were (clem and lilly "we were family once", mitch about ms martin "you get all caught up in who people used to be, and you cant deal with whats in front of you", violet about minnie "the real minnie? shes been gone this whole time and i have to stop mourning her")
having a saved violet on the boat expanding the conversation with minerva about her motivations with the delta. violet apologizing for never looking for her, minnie saying she knows she would have but that its too late now, so sure this is just the way things have to be. getting to hear minnie say "you can be rewarded, just like i am", giving us insight into her character. and clem getting the last word before she rams the door down, her and violet fighting minnie Together. and violet saves clems life, making the Choice to shoot minerva, which in and of itself is a huge moment for violets character in regards to her relationship with both minnie And clem
and aj shooting tenn on the bridge brings things full circle, by putting violet in the same position louis was in EP2, where aj has killed the most important person to her, in an effort to save her life, and now she must reckon with those feelings the same way louis had to about marlon. not so easy now is it violet? ("so youre mad, but sad" "can i be that for a while?" "yeah, its ok")
just... ough... violets whole character just fits into Everything so well, but in a way that elevates the characters and plots around her, while also developing her into her own
#plus tenn dying with minnie feels like looking at a clem and aj Bad End and that feels intentional#and vi being there fighting minnie for tenns life....the boy she took it upon herself to look out for.. and losing him 😭#ALSO i feel like the whole point of S4 is raising aj into someone clem trusts. like did you do a good job raising him or not??#like through the decisions i made i Did naturally trust him in that cave. but after seeing other routes i can def see why some didnt#but even if clem doesnt trust him in that cave he still proves later in the barn that he knows when to make his own call#its more about what clem has to lose/how long it takes for her to trust aj. he knows what hes doing now. clem says as much#none of this is me saying picking louis' route is BAD. im just pointing out the ways violets works on so many levels for me#esp since the season is already so short. all of this really helps to flesh out the plot and side characters in those 4 eps#but anyway this is why i cant stand violet slander especially when people say she was underdeveloped compared to other characters#i just think youre not paying attention to her#but what else is new for female characters#twdg#it speaks

I am kinda curious what you think about all my characters now 👀

Tagged by lovely @themirokai. I didn't realise how much i wanted to journal some stuff out until now. thanks 👍.
Current time: 1:35am. which is not actually that late as i am live laugh loving in my nocturnal era. still plenty of time to watch a movie.
Current mood: creatively fraught. i want to get back into creative writing but I've gone so long without completing a project it feels hopeless. waiting on divine intervention at this point.
Current activity: vibing. (when i posted this originally it kept the previous description. i no longer remember what i was doing)
Currently thinking about: i really hope i don't get fired. also i need to clean more. also i need to do more admin. anxiety abounds.
Current favorite song: anything by MF Doom. 90s era. when i crack and swing back to whiny indie girl ballads its always gotta be Presumably Dead Arm by Sidney Gish though.
Currently reading: A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James. its a fairly hefty book about Bob Marley. im loving its versatile writing style and the portrait it paints of the rationale behind sexual violence but i definetly feel like im missing a lot of Jamaican political context. sometimes it feels like a book you should be handed a textbook for before you start, but thats a fault of mine and not the authors. I was previously trying to force myself though Pride and Prejudice but i just cant. Im usually a sucker for classic lit but that era just doesnt do it for me. sad.
Currently watching: im planning on watching the summer i turned pretty before i go to bed. no tv shows right now though. only chick flicks.
Current favourite character: im thinking a lot about everyone from the Sandman series. especially our titular boy. the cheekbones stick out in the mind. im desperately fighting back against another batfam phase. refixating on Tim Drake and Jason Todd would entail a lot more comics and bad movie adaptations than im comfortable with right now.
Current WIPs: i have a lot of unfinished paintings in my sketchbook right now. we wont talk about my writing wips. can a messy room count as a wip? thats the projects taking up most of my emotional space right now
Tagging my favourite (cough: only) mutuals here. no obligations at all, ignore this at your own discretion. @mammoneythegreat @fandoms-incorrect-quotes

I've started dipping into Emmerdale a bit more again this week and I don't know whether you agree, but I feel Lucy's hatred and lack of belief in the Al affair really shows in her performance in the aftermath. The powerful performances from her are really missing, especially when you consider how strong she usually is as an actor, and part of me wonders if it's because she finds it OOC for Chas. (though I think she and the producers believed Chaddy were a golden couple and you know how I feel about that!!!)
I haven't really read anything from her about the story but I can see what you mean. If she doesn't like the story, that makes sense. I said after Thursday that I wished there had been more fireworks in the reveal and that it all just felt kind of sad now but I think you might be on to something about Lucy's performance. It is a little lackluster.
It feels a bit like Natalie J Robb in the aftermath of the Nate affair reveal where Moira was just like "I don't know why I cheated" and it felt really strongly like Natalie didn't know either and that the whole story was ridiculous.
Except this story with Chas has been a long time coming for me. I mean once upon a time when the first spoiler about Chas and Paddy maybe getting back together came out, I thought, that could be fun perhaps. Aaron's parents getting together. Chas had seemingly come a long way since those days when they were last attempting to date. In 2016/early 2017, Chas was at her peak. She was a not only a pretty good character, she had become a better parent to Aaron and she had been a good friend to Paddy for years. It seemed like it could work.
Of course they immediately killed it with all that cursed nonsense and then the six month break followed by her just throwing herself at him and it seeming like Paddy was settling for her when he really wanted Rhona back. Then they were pretty much doomed. And then cue the Grace story which absolutely destroyed them for me even more. Like I know everyone outside of this fandom sees that story as this super tragic time for Chas and Paddy and I mean, sure, it was. It was an awful thing to go through but that's where Chas started majorly backsliding as a character.
She started becoming very "me me me" again but in a way that she could justify and moralize because she was experiencing this tragedy and trauma, but it's not something she afforded to anyone else. She was terrible to Charity after everything she was going through with Bails. She was terrible to Aaron after Robert went to prison. She was terrible to Paddy after Grace died because he wasn't grieving the way she wanted him to. It was all about her and what she wanted and needed and everyone else be damned.
I was glad Paddy brought up that they should have ended things after Grace because he was right. She treated him like garbage then. And then after Eve was born and they did that whole thing of Paddy leaving her in the car because he needed to take Marlon to the hospital, she was horrible to him then too when he already felt bad enough. And we had the whole lockdown episode where it seemed like there was no real way forward for them. They did the first almost affair with her and Al. And then truly she just became a selfish hypocritical monster even more than she ever had before.
She always acted annoyed by Paddy's mere presence. He was basically just an inconvenience to her. Her behavior towards Charity after the break up with Vanessa and her sleeping with Al once was horrible. She forced her out of her business and tried to kick her out of the family several times. Lisa dying was the worst thing for Chas because it kind of gave her license to step up and be the head of the Dingles because let's be honest, Cain never wanted the job. Just the way she treated Paddy, Charity, Aaron, Liv, Faith etc was awful.
And she was truly horrible with Faith at the end. Just the amount of times she pushed Faith to do something she didn't want to do just because Chas wanted it for selfish reasons was terrible. She never wanted to listen to what Faith wanted and needed because everything was always all about her.
Everything leading up to this downfall for Chas has been well earned and for me, entirely in character if we're basing it on the last five years. Like maybe 2016 Chas wouldn't have done this but she hasn't been that character in a long time.
I don't know, like people keep trying to point out that everyone else has cheated too, and that's true, but it's not so much the affair but all of Chas's behavior surrounding it and for the last few years that just make it all so much worse.
But Chas not being able to be content with safe and dependable and always needing something/someone more exciting and sabotaging a good thing to get it, consequences be damned? That's exactly Chas's character. It just took her longer to come back to that. Such is the nature of Soap, sure, but also I still feel like it's completely in character.
This is a very long rant. Haha. Sorry. I have a lot of feelings about Chas's character clearly.
But back to the original question, I can definitely see what you mean. I agree, I do think she thought the Chaddy partnership was great. Perhaps because she felt like Chas had grown as a character or because she just liked working with Dom. So I feel like maybe it's hard to let this go and that shows in her performance. I wonder if it will get better if they eventually have Chas trying to make real amends and acknowledging all of the wrong she's done lately. Perhaps she'll like that journey better.
