Have you written anything Lee, Clem, and Sarah? like Lee managed to survive to season 2?
oooo I’ve done a lot of ‘what ifs’ but never one with lee!!! I hope you enjoy, I wanted to play around with the context of this one :)
Surprisingly, Carlos and Lee didn’t mesh at first.
They vaguely respected the other,
Purely because they, too, were raising a child,
But that was the extent of it.
Because of that child, they kept their distance from one another.
It was the only way to ensure Clementine’s safety.
It had to be the way to ensure Sarah’s.
Milling about the ski lodge, Lee always had an eye out,
Glancing cautiously out the windows,
Trying to get a better read of the new members of their group.
“I feel ya,” Kenny said,
Approaching Lee from behind,
And settling a hand on one of his shoulders.
“It’s weird to trust folks these days.”
Lee turned to look at him.
“But these are good people,” Kenny began, “I promise.”
“I’ll hold you to that,” was all Lee said.
Later that evening, Sarita wandered into the living room,
A large box in her arms,
Grinning from ear to ear.
“What’s that?” Clementine used hesitantly,
Going closer to inspect it.
“Christmas decorations,” Sarita said proudly.
From upstairs, Sarah heard the commotion and looked over the railing.
“To decorate our tree. Sound fun?”
Clem smiled, excited to do a nostalgic task again.
“Really?” Sarah said from upstairs.
It caught their attention from downstairs.
“Want to help us?” Sarita asked.
Sarah’s eyes lit up,
And she scurried down the stairs.
As she went, she missed a step,
Almost tumbling down,
Before Lee swooped in and caught her from behind.
“Careful, now,” Lee said,
Carlos watched from the bottom of the steps, hesitant,
Ready to jump in himself.
He calmed down when Lee stepped in,
Thankful,
And giving a small nod to show it.
Lee gave one back.
Gradually, Carlos and Lee seemed to naturally trade off roles.
Carlos would watch over Clementine’s back,
Just like Lee would watch over Sarah’s.
Rough time had passed.
Enough trust was built.
Carlos could never forget the way Lee went out of his way for Sarah,
For everyone.
Once, when a swarm hit the lodge,
With Sarah and Nick outside hauling in firewood.
Lee threw himself between Sarah and a walker,
Slaying it,
Then scooping her up and running inside.
Later that night, Lee tucked the two in,
Smiling, he ensured Sarah had a blanket to her chin.
He pulled Clementine’s up to her nose,
Just the way she liked it,
Then went downstairs.
By the time he got down to the main floor, Carlos cleared his throat,
Looking for his attention.
Lee spotted him at one of the tables,
Two glasses sitting in front of him.
By the time Lee got closer, he could see it was whiskey,
Two glasses,
One in front of Carlos,
One that he slid toward Lee.
“Don’t ask where I found it,” He said with a smirk.
Lee grinned.
“You deserve it.”
Lee could see the genuine appreciation in his eyes,
And took a seat.
They clinked their glasses.
“To Sarah and Clem,” Carlos said.
Lee felt his chest grow warm.
It was  a familiar sensation:
That of family.
“To Sarah and Clem,” Lee repeated.
Then, they both sipped away.
For the rest of the time, maybe it could be this way.
Even if it was temporary, it was worth it.
Purely for moments like this.

do you have any personal headcannons for what some of the ericson kids home lifes were like?
Louis: He had a very privileged upbringing but also grew up in a very controlling household. Image is everything. Everything that he did was watched and critiqued by his dad and if he wan't good enough he didn't receive love and affirmation. His mom didn't agree with his dad's way of parenting but she didn't speak up for Louis. Louis' lack of self confidence and self love were caused by his upbringing.
Violet: She had a horrible upbringing. She had some people that were safe to her like her grandparents and her mom as well when she wasn't completely burnt out. But her dad was an abusive drunk who made her childhood hell. She had pockets of time where it was safe like being at her grandparents but the rest of the time she was in an intense abusive setting that she felt like she would never escape. Her defenses and the walls she puts up around people are an outcome of her life growing up.
Sophie, Minnie and Tenn: They had a really good home life. Their parents were really nice and loving but they died and for years the three of them were tossed around in the foster system. No one wanted to adopted three kids and as a result they ended up at Ericson because the system didn't know what to do with them.
Omar: He had very strict, hardworking parents so his home life had very much the same mindset. His parents loved him but didn't necessary like him. They blamed their inability to connect to be something wrong with him. Those "problems" being his quietness and lack of showing strong emotions. Thus they sent him to Ericson.
Aasim: He lived in a household that held him to very high expectations. He went above and beyond in reaching those but he could not hold back his love of fire. He ended up setting something on fire in the neighborhood and greatly pissed off the neighbors who threatened to sue unless his parents sent him somewhere.
Ruby: She had a very loving and accepting household. Her mom passed away when she was young which left her with her dad and her many brothers. Most of the time everything was great but once her anger issues started showing up then problems started happening. She punched a kid so hard they pissed themself all over the playground and so Ruby was sent to Ericson to learn how to be a proper lady.
Brody: She had the most normal, boring upbrining. She lived in a very plain household. Her parents had a kid because "that's what couples do" and so there was always a disconnect between her and her parents. Her anxiety was something very alien to them and they couldn't relate. When her anxiety kept getting worse they kept getting more frustrated and decided to send her to a school to "fix" it.
Mitch: He grew up in a low income household. His mom passed away when he was young and so his dad tried his best to raise him but it was a struggle. His dad had his hands full with just trying to get bread on the table so when Mitch started picking fights over neighborhood kids teasing him about his face and when he blew something up his dad didn't know what else to do but send him away.
Willy: He grew up with a more conservative family. So when he started touching himself they thought he was possessed by the devil. Prayers and church weren't working and they found a brochure for Ericson so they sent him there, partly to try and help him and partly to get rid of him because they were creeped out by him.
Marlon: A very all American household, white picket fence, working class but getting by, very patriotic. His dad voted for Trump. His mom didn't vote because that's not a woman's place. It was a miracle he turned out pretty okay. He had bad anxiety around things surrounding school like tests and sports. So one day he decided to steal a car to blow off some steam. He got caught with that stolen car that he took for a joyride. So to Ericson he went!

Do you have any last name headcanons?
I think Clementine's would be Crawford (based on the scrapped internal name for her)
Kenny Hammon (+ Katjaa and Duck)
Lilly's actually would've been Caul if they stuck with her originally being Lilly Caul from the novels and the comic. I still HC her and Larry with that last name to this day.
Carley's would probably be Vigil (after her VA, because slay <;3)
Doug is based on Doug Tobacco, a former Telltale employee, but I feel like our Doug would've probably Jones
(Gonna hop on over to S4)
When I came up with these I was thinking of a Modern/No Apocalypse AU, so:
Louis would be a Sullivan to me.
Marlon gives off Anderson.
Violet gives Thompson vibes.
Tenn and his sisters give Rodgers energy.
Ruby is from the South like me so I HC her with a name like Harrison or Simmons.
Aasim is based on Telltale's Aasim Zubair, but I HC him with the name Barman.
Omar is a God, so I bless thee with the surname Hendricks (and NOT because it a reference to Kendrick Lamar)
Mitch gets the last name Williamson, because my best friend growing up had that last name lol
Willy gets Johnson because it's a double entendre lol.
(BONUS) - Luke gets Porter because we like Scott Porter here lol - Nick would probably be Randall, like his Uncle Pete because I doubt his mother was married. - And I dubbed Travis "Hoffmann" because why not, kek.

Season one crew with a reader who is like Katniss Everdeen, even using a bow and arrow.
✧˖° s1 gang x reader like katniss everdeen
pairing - season 1 gang x g/n!reader
era - season 1/motel gang
summary - twdg s1 gang with reader who’s like katniss everdeen
warnings - weapons, zombies, mention of lee’s death
a/n - i love the hunger games sm !! hope you enjoy :)
lee
Tumblr media
when he meets you he thinks you’re so cool
especially if you’re younger like katniss is (16-17)
when he sees that you can handle a bow really well he thinks you’re even cooler
he probably starts sending you out of the motel more since he knows you can handle yourself outside
clem probably begs him to let you teach her how to use a bow
and he gets so annoyed at her for it😭
“lee can you pleaseeeee let y/n teach me? pleasssseeee!?!?”
kenny
Tumblr media
he really likes you when he gets to know you
but he probably thought you were trying to be some edgy teen at first💀
when he sees you use your bow he’s really impressed
probably asks you about it all the time
just like clem, duck will probably ask you to teach him how to use your bow but kenny doesn’t let him
so he probably just ends up taking it when no one’s looking and tries using it
kenny got SO mad at him
and apologized to you profusely
carley
Tumblr media
when she meets you at first she probably just thinks you’re another ben
but when she sees how well you handle your bow
she immediately is impressed
she likes practicing weapons with you (when you guys find extra ammo, ofc)
since she’s really good at using her gun she can relate to you
probably asks you to teach her how to use your bow
she actually is surprisingly pretty good at it
katjaa
Tumblr media
she probably met you briefly when lee and kenny took you back to the motel
she was happy another person joined
probably heard about how you act from kenny
and heard him rambling on about your bow
so she finally decides to talk to you
and she ends up really admiring you and your skills with your bow
asks you a lot of questions about it
always makes sure you’re safe with it
ben
Tumblr media
i wanna say ben would admire you but let’s be honest here, he definitely is jealous of you
not really jealous of YOU but jealous of how the others treat you
poor kid gets borderline bullied by everyone else in the group😭
he probably ends up asking you how to use your bow
and when you show him he probably finds a way to mess up (sorry ben)
but eventually he might be decent at it
probably steers clear of you as much as he possibly can because he’s so jealous of you
but secretly, he does admire your skills and attitude

What do you think Brody got sent to Ericson for? What about Tenn and the twins? Marlon and Omar?
oohhhh this is a good question!
brody: i think she got sent because of her anxiety. her parents thought smth was wrong with her whenever she got her panic attacks
tenn, minnie & sophie: this is a toughie. i feel like they actually did nothing wrong, they were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. smth happened and their parents were all 'oh! our kids are actually not okay! off to ericson they go!'
marlon: i'd say smth related to his anger. like it got way out of hand and his parents couldn't take it anymore
omar: hmmmm i like to think that he was super quiet as a kid, like hardly talked at all, and his parents thought smth was wrong with him so they said 'off to ericson you go!'

Do you have any headcanons for twdg characters and what they did before the apocalypse?
I think this is more for the elder characters so let's try:
The St. John's were ranchers and farmers obviously, but I think Andy was probably more into heading into the city every now and then.
Luke and Nick were known to be unemployed, I think they lived pretty close to each other with their families. The families were very working class though, so they weren't in a crazy rush especially with their "business" failing.
Ben Paul was probably an alright academic, I like to think that he would try to talk with Clem and Duck about things at the Motor Inn, maybe how school was or what their favorite subjects are.
Speaking of Duck, he would like to bug his father A LOT about the times of fish or all that stuff that he'd check on, but then Duck would totally forget the next day.
We know that Aasim was "cured" right before the apocalypse, but I can assume that the rest of the Ericson's students were either in the middle or nowhere near the "cured" mantle.
Christa wasn't the biggest people person, so I'm not really set on like a job for her, but she seems like a working woman. Omid was super into the "thrill of life" nonsense, and was definitely a little more energetic than he seems in the series. Christa always joked that he'd get himself arrested one day with his reckless driving.
I think Molly was probably in university but would skip her classes often, claiming she was "in no rush to graduate". She'd go out on her own often around the state even, keeping in touch with her sister and even sneaking her out sometimes.
I wish I could think of more but I have a headache 😭 uhhh we'll get back to it soon

Javier Garcia HC's because why not? (Some things are most likely OOC)
Bisexual (Canon), Transmasc and Polyamorous (both HC).
Autistic + hard of hearing (My man shot a gun right beside the same ear TWICE)
Dating tripp and jesus (Tall, big muscles, beards, this man definitely has a type-)
Cat person all the way, can and will adopt any stray cat he sees
He has a massive sweet tooth and his favorite dessert is pudding. But he also loves latino cuisine with his favorites being nachos, Ropa Vieja, Arroz con pollo and Tamales
Can't cook for shit, never let him inside the kitchen
Lets clem and mariana paint his nails, and sometimes he even lets them doll up his face a little
One time, he lost a bet to tripp and conrad during a game and had to wear a dress for the entire day. At first he felt embarrassed as hell, but as time went by he actually grew to enjoy wearing it, heck some people (including david surprisingly) actually complimented him about it! Needless to say, this was when javi realized he was GNC
(Pre transition) Javi used to bind with ace bandages for awhile because he didn’t have enough money to buy a proper binder until David bought one for him
Started taking HRT when he was 16
Hates hot weather and prefers the cold, he loves snuggling up by the fireplace while drinking a nice cup of hot chocolate with his two giant boyfriends
used to hate his freckles because when he was younger some asshole kid called them ugly. However, after a little reassurance from david he started to grow fond of them. Tripp and jesus love planting small kisses on them whenever they get the chance
Had an emo phase when he was in middle school
Has a tooth gap
Taught gabe and mariana how to play baseball when they were little
Infodumps about baseball A LOT, stims in multiple different ways, and whenever he feels overstimulated mariana would usually lend him her headphones and tape player so he could cool off for awhile
Since he’s HOH, they’ll be times when he has difficulty hearing certain things, so he communicates through sign language sometimes
He also uses sign language to communicate whenever he feels over/under-stimulated, this is due to him going nonverbal when overwhelmed or underwhelmed
Does NOT fully forgive Eleanor, and probably won’t be anytime soon
GARCIA BROTHERLY FLUFF TIME!
He and David are slowly staring to rekindle their relationship, they’ll be times when they meet up on one of the rooftops of one of Richmond’s buildings at night and just talk about random stuff, be it from current events or past memories, while staring up at the stars and enjoying each other’s company
One time, some random douchebag kept bothering javi about his past with gambling, and David just walked up to the guy and fucking decks him in the jaw
David tended to tease javi from time to time whenever javi would gush about Jesus and Tripp. And when javi announced he was dating them, David couldn’t help but feel a little overprotective
He and David would speak spanish when having a conversation somtimes
David was the classic older brother when they were growing up: Pranking javi, putting things out of reach for him, calling dibs on everything first, you name it!
I HC that David was actually pretty good at baseball as a kid, that’s one reason why javi really got into it as well
David was the first person javi came out to as trans, bi AND neurodivergent
After the whole new frontier fiasco, David started to have nightmares about nearly killing javi back at the water tower and would wake up screaming his name with tears in his eye. One night javi caught him having one of these nightmares and when he was able to wake him up, David just broke down in his embrace while apologizing over and over again and javi would just hold him and encouraged him to let it all out.
(possible part 2! Let me know what yall think)

"You know, reds a good color on you."
Season : 2
Context : Snowball fight, that's it, just something very soft
Luke x GN reader
●~●~●~●~● ~ ●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●
It's been years after the apocalypse started, long and tiresome years. It was hard to believe New Year was just a few weeks away... Well, and along with Christmas..
"Hey- HEy- HEY!" Some yelling was heard from the outside of the house. What the hell was going on now? You made your way to the front door, opening it to see none other than Nick laying face first in the snow with Luke trying to piece together a snowman that seemed to fall apart. God, they really did act like children sometimes... More than the actual children.
"What the hell are you guys doing now??" You questioned while leaning against the doorframe while looking down at the two. Glancing over to Nick, who seemed to pick himself back up from out of the snow, that still seemed to be coming down. "We got bored.." The male said as he picked up his hat, shaking it off before putting it back on.
"You BOTH were supposed to be hunting." You spoke while shooting a glance at Luke, assuming it was his idea. "When no animals showed up, we got tired of standin' there.." Luke finally spoke, placing the torso of the snowman back onto the body while doing so. "You're so tense lately, loosen up for a change we'll be fine, we got enough food to last us all winter and then some." Luke added.
He was right, but that didn't change the fact that they weren't doing their job. "Loosen up?? Are you serious right now? Luke, I can't just loose -" You had begun to lecture before getting cut off by a snowball hitting your shoulder. You looked to Nick, who just put his arms up in defense before pointing to Luke. So, you looked to him next, a cocky look plastered onto his face as you felt the remaining snow fall off of your shoulder.
He really knew how to piss you off, huh? Once the snow fell, you took a deep breath before looking at the snow that was gathered onto the deck railing. Making another glance to Luke, who was just smiling like an absolute idiot.
"You know, you're pretty cute when you look like you wanna slam my head into the nearest tree!" He exclaimed while laughing slightly. Getting caught off guard by the snowball that hit him directly in the face, from none other than you. Now you let out a laugh while you watched Luke struggle to get the snow completely off of his face, listening to the small string of curses he left behind while doing so.
You took Luke's moment of distraction as a chance to swiftly make your way off the deck, hiding behind a nearby tree. Preparing another snowball to throw with a confident look plastered onto your face. You couldn't help but notice the sun was beginning to set. This fight would have to be quick. Luckily, Luke wasn't a hard person to fight in a snowball fight. His aim wasn't the best, and you could easily overpower him with your words and flirty remarks alone.
You shaped the snowball as you looked at it for a moment, a quiet laugh soon escaping your lips as you looked behind the tree. Just to notice, Luke wasn't even there anymore, just Nick finishing the snowman. Rather confused, you look to the ground. There was no trail in sight in the snow. "What the..." All was quiet for a few moments before a loud yell belonging to Luke nearly made you jump ten feet in the air. You turn around back behind the tree to look up at the county boy with a huff, "Fucks sake Luke!" you scolded with a sigh.
Meanwhile, Luke just laughed, even up close he still looked as dumb as ever. But in an endearing way. "I didn't know your voice went that high, you know if it went any higher it could almost pass as a mouse." Luke spoke with a soft tone in his voice, filled with comfort and warmth. You two were so close together already you hadn't even realized that he moved in a little more, to the point your cold noses were slightly touching. Looking over the others face, you couldn't help but notice he seemed to be as red as a cherry. "You know, reds a good color on you."
That remark alone made Lukes eyes widen slightly, meeting your gaze. He looked anxious but excited. "Is this... okay with you?" He asked quietly, almost like you two were exchanging secrets back and forth. A smile made its way onto your face as you snaked your hand around to the back of the others neck, noticing how Luke shut his eyes, expecting a kiss of sorts. Just to be met with a snowball getting mushed into his face once again. You couldn't help but laugh at the shocked expression that made its way onto Luke's face, and when he saw you laugh? He couldn't help but laugh too before dusting the snow off. "C'mon, it's getting late, and the temperature is dropping. Wouldn't want you to get a cold now." He said with a smile as he intertwined his cold fingers with your warm ones. "Looks like Nick already went in." You said aloud mainly to yourself as the both of you walked back up the deck and into the house.

Smoking the devils lettuce with Mitch (TWDG)
Tumblr media
Super dumb idea but I need to write my thoughts. Also yes I based some of these of my own experiences shhh!
Sorry if there are any mistakes, there too many words here to reread 💀
Dont smoke kids. If ya do do it safely please.
You’ve smoked weed before (sorry if you havent but this is the way it’s gonna go this time)
Mitch had only once stole a cig from his dad when he was a child.
He hated it and started chocking
However he told everyone he smoked the whole thing without coughing once-
You most likely found a ten bag with some normal cigs when scavenging about and obviously you where stoked!
You could make about 4 joints with it
But heres the big question
To share or Not to share?
You knew you couldn’t let everyone know! I mean Jesus Ruby would kill you.
But this is a treat for staying alive ok?
You sat in your room preparing the joints
Meanwhile, Mitch walked past your room and could notice a horrid stench Coming from inside.
He knocked on and opened your door while coving his nose
“Shit What the fuck is going on in here??”
Oh shit…probs should of put a candle out or use some air freshener…
“Oh hey Mitch…🙂”
“What the fuck is that?”
“…a joint…”
“Holy shit a real one?”
“Well duh.”
“Rad…”
You (being very nice and generous) offered to share it with him!
He agreed exitedly but you can tell he was a little nervous
He closed the door behind him and sat next to you
You light the first joint and take a few drags then hand it over to Mitch
He tried to put on a cool bad boy act but his hand was shaking
“You know weed is very over exaggerated in most TV shows and movies right? You’ll just feel dizzy then after a few minutes you’ll feel more relaxed.”
Mitch nodded and relaxed a bit before taking a drag
A few more drags later and you both start to feel it kicking in
I doubt he’d be paranoid as long as you both are smoking indoors, if you guys ever did it outdoors he’d be freaking out (seeing walkers and hearing noises and such)
And I don’t think he’d throw up he felt a bit sick the first time but not enough to throw up
After the first joint is over he really mellows out!
He’d put on some music and just unwind
Like I said before, as long as he’s indoors he’s just a quiet high kinda guy
He’s so relaxed and calm unlike his usual hot headed self
He’d only get the giggles if you guys where smoking the weed That’s for ya body and Not your head (soz im proper stupid and don’t know the actual terms lmao)
After you guys finish the joints you both use a whole bottle of spray on deodorant to try to cover up the smell
It’s still painfully obvious tho
He wouldn’t really want to leave Ericssons but he would if you really wanted too
Most of the time you two end up walking around Ericsson life Ring to music (And trying to hide from everyone)
Also idk how but if you two ever get your hands on a sugary drink you both take turns drinking it SO you can feel your get all tingly lmao!
Also omfg when the munchies kick in you two are kinda fucked.
You two try and sneak into where Omar keeps any ingredients and shit and Just scran it all
“I feel so weird…I can taste the food but i cant feel anything in my stomach…it doesn’t even feel like I have a stomach.”
“Yep…me too mitch.😌”
Also one last thing, you two got caught.
And you got shouted at…ALOT
By ruby ofc.
Have funnn :)

Howdy! I was wondering if you have any head cannons on Clem and Janes post S2 (I just love both of them so much) thank you!
I don't!! you ask and you shall receive:
enjoy :)
Jane didn't want to see Clementine as a kid she was in control of.
She saw her as a sister.
Clementine reminded her so much of Jaime.
But a stronger version of Jaime.
One who was fighting to live.
One who wanted to live.
It was Jane's responsibility to ensure that happened.
Howe's was their safest bet for the time being.
Plenty of supplies, a secure building,
And a place where AJ could be kept alive.
Despite it all, Jane still felt closed off.
She didn't want to open up too much to Clementine.
It would only make the inevitable hurt more.
Viewing Clem as an ally rather than someone she needed to care for made it easier.
Somehow.
But she knew it didn't make it easier on Clementine.
Occasionally, AJ's crying would wake them up during the night.
"Can you deal with him?"
"Why me?" Clementine would counter.
"Because I did it yesterday."
Clementine groaned and sat up,
Wandering over to AJ's corner to hold him,
Then left the room to get him a bottle.
It was moments like these that Jane was glad she didn't view Clementine as a responsibility.
Throughout the day, they took turns.
One person would leave to gather supplies outside of Howe's limits,
The other would stay with AJ,
Weapon loaded,
Ready to shoot if an intruder came through.
Jane always gave a sigh of relief when she returned and the two were intact.
Somehow, every single day she grew more fond of the two.
She couldn't seem to force the feeling down.
A part of her didn't want to.
Clementine ended up hating Jane's cooking,
So she insisted on making it herself every night.
"You're such a brat," Jane teased through a laugh.
Clem rolled her eyes.
"At least I'm not trying to poison you."
"Hey-" Jane scoffed,
Laughing at the child's audacity.
It was moments like this -
The playful teasing -
That Jane felt like the world,
For a moment,
Was normal.
That the world wasn't crumbling at their feet.
After dinner was Jane's favorite part of the day.
Just as the sun was setting,
And the birds stopped their screeching,
Jane relaxed in one of Howe's rooms,
Watching Clementine stand by the window,
The sunset making her skin glow,
As she sang a lullaby to AJ.
It was those moments when Jane felt truly at peace.
Sometimes, in the middle of the night,
When the two were fast asleep,
Jane would just watch them,
Smiling to herself.
She didn't know what she would do without them.
She didn't know if she could ever have a reason to survive again if she lost them.
Watching Clementine sleep made her smile,
Brushing some of her curly hair out of her face.
Yeah.
This is what made life worth fighting for.
Moments like this.

We were watching the new documentary on Netflix called The Program: Cons, Cults and Kidnappings which is about survivors of a boarding school's abusive tactics and brainwashing methods. It made us ponder how Ericson was the same type of school and from what we hear from the Ericson kids they probably experienced some of the same abuse and brainwashing as the real-life survivors of the Academy at Ivy Ridge.
One of the common tactics that Ivy Ridge used was to victim blame and turn all fault back onto the students even for tragedies that they had no part in causing. That led us to wonder how much of Louis and Violet's backstories which they tell Clem in Episode 3 are accurate and how much of these confessions are tainted by the school's brainwashing. Considering Louis and Violet were about 10 and 11 when they got abandoned at Ericson, they would be especially susceptible to internalizing the school's narrative surrounding their actions.
For Violet, her recollection of how she responded to her grandmother's death could have been twisted by the school. After all, the school financial benefits from keeping kids there as long as possible so why not make Violet believe she's incapable of regular human emotions and a freak? Instead of helping Violet piece together how adverse circumstances might have led her to develop emotional shields the school likely pushed the narrative that she was fundamentally broken. Though Violet grew up in poverty, it could be that her schooling was paid for by the state as sometimes happens with students seen as "problem" cases. This would make her a walking meal ticket and holding onto her indefinitely probably wouldn't have been caught by government bureaucracy for years.
For Louis, the truth of the narrative is a bit harder to piece together. According to Louis he was the sole architect of a master plan to outwit both of his parents for over a year. This black and white narrative where only Louis would be to blame for his parents' divorce fits in with how these types of "reform" schools will break down children. For example in the documentary one girl was told that she was to blame for her father's death in a car accident even though she was only five at the time. It feels likely - especially considering the details we get of how authoritarian Louis' father was - that Louis was not the sole cause of the divorce. Even in the most amicable of divorces children can tend to blame themselves for their parents breaking up. Considering that Lous describe his family as "stupid rich", Ericson probably wanted to hold onto him for as long as possible and make him and his parents believe he was a complete monster.
We'll probably never know for sure how much truth or fiction lie within Violet and Louis' stories but we thought this would be an interesting facet to consider since we hadn't seen it discussed before.

Diablo III x TWDG
While I'm playing Diablo III (again), in Expert Mode this time though, I somehow rediscovered my love for this game, since now the enemies are actually challenging again. I can feel this fear and excitement that I felt when I played it for the first time (which was years ago) and the little addition I made just makes it more fun. Even though Marlon regularly gives me heartattacks, because he loses too much dicipline or gets tanked by some boss monster.
What I also did, was analyze the three companions, that you can take with you on the journey you make. I noticed before that they had quite good character arcs, but if you take the time to listen to literally every single word they say, you can see how much input they have in their own stories.
And that's why I took it upon myself, to develop this funny little crossover further and give the companions TWDG personas as well, as you might have noticed xD I'm a sucker for unreasonable and weird crossovers, okay, leave me be.
I've been playing as the Demon Hunter for a few months now again, since that class is by far my favorite (although I love all the classes), and, well, I called that specific Demon Hunter Marlon. Of course, the companions all got blessed with a TWDG persona as well, so... there.
Anyway, here are some things I noticed, it's just me babbling about this game and how much I love Diablo and TWDG, so feel free to skip through this xD It's mostly stuff I noticed, a summary and some minor headcanons.
(SPOILERS ahead)
Louis aka Lyndon the Scoundrel
-He was by far the most entertaining. Louis basically says something in literally any situation, he's constantly making jokes and mocks our enemies, which is quite refreshing. And close to the real Louis in TWDG.
-Since Louis is an archer himself here, it can be a bit difficult to get out of crazy situations, because he cannot give you the backup that Aasim might give you. Aasim may charge in and stun opponents, while Louis has to remain in the distance and try to hit something. Which he does quite well, not gonna lie, but before I got the blocker technique for him, I basically had to do most of the work, if we wanted to make a run for it xD
-His story is amazing. He's a thief from a big, rich city in... the north, I think? Together with his older brother, who was a royal guard, he managed to stage some heists, where they would rob something and he'd tell his bro about the time and date, so he could arrest them (but Louis of course magically disappeared before they could get him too). Then they split up the collected money.
-Louis falls in love with a woman though, that is only interested in his brother. He's jealous, tries to cover it up and continues to decieve the local guards with his bro. But one time, his big brother shows up too early and that raises suspicion. Louis can escape, but his brother gets arrested.
-Feeling guilty for it, and for lusting after his wife, Louis flees and tries to make a living as a thief in Tristram, sending a lot of the money he gets to his brother in prison. Only as the story progresses, he finds out that his brother was killed because of him, as some sort of revenge. And they leave us with a frikin' cliffhanger too, because Marlon and Louis plan on hunting the murderer of his brother, but the game never lets us do it xD
-Anyway, Louis is a delight to be around, especially when in camp, because he's constantly getting on Aasim's nerves for being too stiff and 'boring'.
-Even though he's a thief, he has a very clear idea of what's right and wrong (unlike someone else, cough) and right after claiming that he hates children, he plays with some in the camp, so... he has a bigger heart than it seems. Wayyy bigger.
-Don't make him angry. It's not like Louis is shouting or anything, that's more Aasim's or Marlon's part, but Louis is just creepy when he's angry. He sounds as if he's gonna come back at night to slit your throat, which completely contradicts the rest of his cheery and up-beat character.
-He's quite determined and is eager to not let his fear shine through, even though we're literally facing the Angel of Death itself at the end of the game. Louis is questioning the reason for our journey quite a lot actually, but he never seems to really doubt the cause, you know? It's like he's trying to make Marlon think about what he's actually doing with his life, because that guy is all about fighting and working, never giving himself time to enjoy the actual friendships he's made, unlike Louis.
-It's just so funny how optimistic and sarcastic he is. He tries to lighten up the mood any chance he gets and even though he flirts with almost every single woman we meet, it's nothing too serious and usually just earns him a smack to the head from Marlon.
-I have no idea why, but I LOVE the scene where Louis curses out Imperius, the archangel of valor, for being a dick to Marlon. Louis is standing in the face of annihilation, since Imperius could easily kill him with one snap of his fingers, Louis not being a Nephalim like Marlon, but he doesn't give a shit and tells that guy to go kiss his ass.
-Louis appears to be the most human of them all. He's just trying to live his life, while also helping to save the world, but what makes him so human are his reactions towards certain things done by Maghda's council (aka Lilly, heh). Or when he reacts to entering the halls of agony, he's shocked to see what the former king established and shows his disgust, while Brody and Aasim try to keep calm and focused. He allows his feelings to run free.
-His relationship with Marlon changes greatly over time. At first, the're not necessarily fond of each other, Marlon not liking his background as a thief and fearing betrayal, while Louis thinks of him as arrogant and slowminded. But in time, they become great friends and even though Marlon has to drag him out of a tavern once in a while, Louis is an important ally to him, especially when talking about optimism and Louis' living-in-the-moment-philosophy. In the end, Marlon almost becomes a brother for Louis and vice versa. He even offers Louis a very big amount of his own gold to send to his brother, before they find out about his death.
Brody aka Eirena the Enchantress
-Brody is a very sweet character, in either of the games (well, before the slight panicattack she had in TWDG). She's kinda confused, since she's been born 500 years in the past, but she's curious and wants to learn as much as she can about the world she's been sent to.
-Her story is quite sad as well. Brody was a young magician in Caldeum, the juwel of the east, the big city in the even bigger desert. And she learned some quite powerful spells from a group of other magicians. Only to dicover, that they were a cult trying to summon demons, so she and her sisters slaughtered them all to save the city.
-Brody and her sisters were cursed by the last remaining cultist though and almost died, when a mysterious prophet appeared and saved them. He trained them properly and gave them the order, to go to sleep in tombs and wake up in another time to search for a hero and accompany them on their journey. Well, that worked out well so far, but Brody was the only one to survive the sleep stage and woke up again.
-She's quite young, I think she's around 21/22 other than Marlon, Louis and Aasim, who are all around 25-30. Which is quite confusing, since she should be wayyy older. But it makes her kinda naive and vulnerable too, since she's used to her own old world and doesn't yet understand all the dangers, that come with this new one. That's why she seeks Marlon's advice a lot.
-Funny sidefact, Brody doesn't like rain, which is kinda ironic considering the weather in TWDG when she's killed.
-In battle, she's a quite formidable foe, since her spells can make enemies fight for you, which is coming in handy very often. Especially since she can also somewhat control boss monsters for a short amount of time.
-Brody needs to keep her distance just as much as Louis needs to, but unlike Louis, she has a few techniques up her sleeve to escape difficult situations via big clouds of magic dust or just plain explosions. That makes it easier to run away, since she can distract enemies, especially with the mindcontrol thing. Demons will prefer to fight the controlled monster over fighting Marlon, which is pretty interesting, and useful of course.
-Other than Louis, she has a very calming effect on Marlon. When they are out on a journey together, they tend to get into deeptalk a lot more ( and I mean A LOT), especially about how they feel inwardly when fighting. Marlon seems to enjoy her company and openly asks her questions, which is different than with Louis, where it's the thief that bugs him with the questions.
-Brody is like a puppy, really. Whenever she sees something new, she gets excited and want to examine it, until Marlon tells her to let go of the magic jemstone that holds three demons in it...
-She feels a lot like some part of her got lost over time, while she was sleeping. That's a big part of their conversations in game, since Marlon feels kind of the same, having lost his entire family to demons at a young age. So they try to comfort each other by saying that it's just something everybody has to live with in a way and that they'll find a way to compensate for the emptiness.
-Brody is... well, she doesn't realize anything when it comes to love. Which is quite adorable. She doesn't know what a flirt is, so even when Louis jokingly tries to seduce her, she answers honestly and without any thoughts in the back of her mind, as if it's a totally normal conversation.
-She openly states that she sees Marlon as her big brother, to which he answers, that he doesn't mind, but she should never ask him about romantic advice, because he doesn't have the slightest idea. Brody admits, that she thought about marriage a few times already, but also states, that it 'isn't for her', implying, that romance in general may be something, she just doesn't quite understand. Which is obvious, to be honest.
-Ironically, her specialty are illusions. She can see right through them and even create her own, using her magic staff and a little focus-mirror, because she gets easily distracted. Even in Diablo III, Brody's a dreamer and gets quite affected by the misery and despair of others. She even pities the cultists, stating that it must have been great sorrow that made them join this organization.
-Brody was actually the only one of her sisters to ever wake up, because the prophet who trained them saw great potential in her. He gave the remaining sisters a choice, either leave the sisterhood and live out their lives, or help ensure, that Brody would wake up in the right time and place. There was one of her sisters, Lysa, who envied her for being the chosen one (even though Brody didn't even know about this) and tried to kill her in her sleep. The remaining sisters gave their lives to protect her, but Lysa managed to lure Brody into her trap after she had accompanied Marlon for a while.
-Lysa got defeated by them in the Lair of the Prophet, which left Brody with a feeling of senselessness, not knowing if the sacrifice her sisters made, was worth it. Marlon can comfort her though by telling her, that the prophet chose her for a reason and that her sisters believed in her so much, that they gave their own lives for her. That Lysa let her envy take over, wasn't Brody's fault and she should be glad, that she was able to free her sister from the grasp of the demons. That moment made me kinda sad for the TWDG Marlon and Brody, since they could've had conversations like this too, trying to make the others feelings of guilt disappear. But nooo, someone had to be a dick about it.
-After her special companion quest, she decides to become the leader of a new organization and continue on with the cause of the prophet, who helped her so many years ago. It shows, that she's willing to change directions and think about something new, just like she was in TWDG, but this time, Marlon actually helps her instead of punishing her for it.
-Brody is very kind and passionate, she is probably the most affected by unjust acts and betrayal. Louis and Aasim are so used to it, that they kind of expect it around every corner and Marlon... well, he hunts the witch Adria, who betrays the gang, for over three acts, and... yeah... it's wild. But I don't have to mention, that she's great with kids, right?
Aasim aka Komrac the Templar
-Ohhhh boy, Aasim.
-He's actually the first of the companions we find, and he makes it very clear from the beginning, that he doesn't follow Marlon, because he likes him so much. In fact, Aasim even states later, that he despised Marlon from the start, because he seemed to be driven by hate and anger. Which is true, to be honest.
-Aasim takes the longest to warm up to Marlon and vice versa. They had a pretty rough start, being quite cold towards each other, until Aasim accompanied him on a few journeys and they got to talk about their respective orders.
-Aasim is my favorite of them battle wise, because unlike Marlon he can actually take a hit or two. He's quite tanky and just yeets himself into battle, fueled by the strong belief in his order and the light he defends.
-Also he's pretty useful when I need to get out of a sticky situation, he'll create a diversion and lets me escape, then he follows after stunning the enemy. We literally don't have to worry about him since he is pretty much invulnerable, so... good job, Aasim, keep it up.
-His story is a tragic one, like the other two companion stories. Aasim was a pretty bad guy before he got captured by the holy order of the templars. They 'purified' him by whipping him until he was unconcious and the pain made him forget his past.
-Then he was sent out to do good and bring the light back to the earth. That definitely worked well, since he literally threatened Marlon into a deal, so that he can keep his foliants and holy scripts to himself. After finding out about the real intentions of his order and that he was basically used to gain more power, he decides to fight his former brothers, accompanied by Marlon.
-Let's just say, that fight... doesn't end well for the order.
-Almost everyone in camp says, that they think he's pretty grim, but has a good heart. Which is literally what Aasim is in TWDG, I was a bit proud. And yes, he took his time to come out of his shell, but he revealed himself to be courageous and proud as well and... a little bit stoic, hot-headed even.
-But Aasim seems to be pretty brutal as well. He once asked Marlon, while they were both hunting that witch Adria, how long she'd last if he held her head under one of those blood pools. Which is fairly disturbing, but also kinda fits him. And of course Marlon got pretty excited about that.
-Aasim is... quite angry. He's more similar to Marlon in that case, without even realizing it. They both share this untamed fury and love to rush into battle, although for different reasons. The one reason they share though, is protecting the innocent, which is honorable and... Aasim was kinda cute talking to those kids in Caldeum.
-He may not be as childish and sarcastic as Louis is, but he loves mocking the enemy, which is very entertaining on its own. If... well, if we survive, that is. One of his skills is taunting the enemy. One of his SKILLS.
-He hates Louis. And funny thing, in Diablo, he actually has a thing for Brody. A little inconvenient, since she doesn't realize it at all, but at least he tells her about his feelings with enough encouragement from Marlon. That backfires, but eh. It was adorable.
-The comments he made about the sand in his boots, when they walked through the deserts? Urgh. Aasim, please don't turn into Anakin Skywalker, yes, the sand gets everywhere, especially when you fight nasty hordes of monsters.
-I dunno, but his relationship to Marlon stays quite platonic and distant over the whole course of the game. He thanks him for helping him with his order and Marlon actively tries to let him find a new direction in life, but apart from that, the only thing really connecting the two, is their desire to protect the weak. And I think that makes him a great character all on his own, because there are only subtle moments, where you can hear, that he actually cares a lot about his teammembers. It shows when he's fighting and solving conflicts.
-And the fact that his special trinket is actually a book. Like, come on.
Now, for the final part, a little bit about the main character himself
Marlon aka The Nephalim/Demon Hunter
-I still need to draw him.
-I actually started this just for fun, but simply by naming my first character on my new account Marlon, that guy became something special. And what could fit him better, than a dark, mysterious Demon Hunter with a crossbow?
-I know, he isn't that dark and mysterious in TWDG, that's why I'm glad he has the top notch character development in Diablo, thanks Blizzard.
-Starting off with a tragic backstory, his family got butchered by the demons and after fleeing with his younger sister, she succumbed to madness and fell in the river. He tried to grab her, but didn't have the strength to pull her out, so she died and he was left alone with his fears and sorrows. Almost giving in to the darkness himself, Marlon was rescued by a group of survivors, who taught him how to handle numerous weapons and traps, so he could defend himself.
-That's when he decided to dedicate his life to saving the innocent and defend the weak, leading him to Tristram, where the fallen star had caused the dead to rise. And that's where the fun begins.
-Because he appears to be quite arrogant towards the local residents, at least when he first meets them. Marlon knows, he's powerful now and has skills, that others could only dream of, making him a bit of a nuissance at first. He's commited and doesn't falter, even in the middle of a seemingly unwinnable fight. His anger and hatred drive him forward, which is why people in Tristram are a bit intimidated at first.
-It's his height too. I swear, he was tall in TWDG, but in Diablo? That.... how? It's probably the armor, but even his little sister's ghost states later, that he has grown a lot since they last met. Well, it's been a long time, but still.
-His bad side comes out often in the beginning of the game. He's seen some real shit, like, real real shit, and to an extend, he's proud of it, because it gave him power and it made him resistant to certain psychological pain. But that also gives him more of that bounty hunter atmosphere, he's just there for the loot, for the sake of killing. Later, Marlon establishes himself as the hero, that defies the laws of nature and can punch his way through literal hell to safe humanity, but it... it takes a looong time 'till he reaches that point. Which is cool, it makes the character development even greater.
-His moral compass is a fucking roulette wheel. Like I mentioned earlier, it's funny how Louis is the thief and supposed scoundrel, while Marlon is way more vindictive and says pretty questionable things from time to time.
-BUT that starts to change once Deckard Cain dies. One of the more important characters in the game (actually one of THE more important characters in the game), Deckard helps him greatly in achieving his goal and it's only through him, that the mystery of Tyrael's fall from the heavens can be solved. His sacrifice is the first character death, that really stings and it takes its toll on Marlon too.
-And after that, Marlon starts to care about his partners more, asking them about their personal life (that's up to the player of course, but here the really interesting infomration can be asked) and trying to help them solve their own problems. Even though he can barely solve his own.
-Marlon is, uhm... quite vulnerable out there to be honest. I mean, it's his class, Demon Hunters aren't supposed to hit hard, it's all about arrows, traps and such for them. Which is why his fighting style is a lot of shadow magic, and I mean a lot. Crowfeet traps, flips and illusions, even posessed animals like wolves and spiders, that come to his aid. And of course, don't forget the angry flesh-eating plant, Rosie. Still, it's very cool to play as a Demon Hunter, especially since you gotta be strategic and quick on your feet (which I am not, but ergh, whatever). And that hail of arrows? Geez.
-Marlon is SO bad at following his own advice. He runs around in camp, talking to all the people and his friends, saying that a life isn't worth anything without friendship and kindness. And then he gets back into his corner of darkness and soaks himself in self-pity, not talking to either of them about his own past, AT ALL.
-He's somehow constantly torn between loving to be something special but at the same time just wanting to be normal, so that others don't run from him.
-That's also another point where he connects with Brody. Both are something unnusual, she's from a completely different time, while he is the child of an angel and a demon, so people are bound to stare at them. They even have a little talk about it and both seem kinda sad, knowing that wherever they go, they won't find a place to call home, since this feeling of being different will hang over them.
-I swear the scene where he saw his little sister again in the Realm of Death, I cried my eyes out. He blames himself entirely for her death and the fact, that his hatred is actually directed towards Marlon himself is even more heartbreaking.
-Oh, how he hates Imperius. Funny thing is though, Louis has to defend him, since Marlon is just getting tired of arguing with the archangel, until Louis calls him out for it xD
-Like his TWDG counterpart, he despises people without gratitude and tells them that to the face. That mayor in Tristram, that didn't move his wagon, because he was afraid of the dead outside? Yeah, he literally told him to go to hell for his cowardice. Which is quite ironic...
-But he told many people in the game to go to hell, so...
-Marlon gets pretty irritated when people can see through him. Well, like his TWDG counterpart. When Myriam started to talk about his feelings and the guilt he carries with him, he gets so frustrated, he can only slightly insult her before he runs away.
-May I mention, that for a short period of time, he was some kind of grim reaper? Having the power of the dead? So he could harm Malthael?
-The whole reason behind the Demon Hunter is, that in order to fight what you hate, you have to overcome your own fears. That's why Marlon can face almost every danger, that is in front of him, even the Devil and the Angel of Death. But nobody can teach you how to face your own feelings of guilt and that's the only thing Marlon literally cannot cope with. When Leah dies, he hunts Adria for the next three acts of the game, and even after he killed her, he still feels guilty for not seeing through her lies. That's the tragedy of both his characters, in Diablo and in TWDG, when he fails, he just can't deal with the loss and the guilt, so he does things, that are either unreasonable or only bring peace for a short amount of time.
-And we don't want to talk about the fact, that he must feel REALLY tired after Malthael got destroyed and Tyrael basically told him, that all the souls of the seven evils are free again. I felt pretty stupid when that happened, this whole game was basically for nothing, thanks.
-The armor he can wear is ridiculous. There is no way he can move fast with this amount of steel on him. But it looks cool, so...
-I love this quote from the Demon Hunter Trailer
"As long as I'm here, they are the prey. And I am the Hunter."
Gives me chills every time. And kinda fits his character in TWDG as well, he wants to be the big brother, the guardian, you know?
-It's, uhm... interesting how easily he gets startled whenever someone he likes does something 'bad'. Like, when Haedrig, the blacksmith, told him about his wife and that she was imprisoned for using magic spells, Marlon was so shocked, Haedrig didn't allow him to talk to him for a few days. Adorable, but confusing, since he's fighting people, that are way worse.
-I dunno, but apart from playing big brother for almost everyone except Aasim, he acts like a big child sometimes. When Brody warns him about an illusion in the desert the first time they meet, he snaps back at her, saying that he knows a trap when he sees one. First, no, he doesn't, second, when Brody shows him the illusion, he acts all casual about it, quickly asking stuff about her powers instead of admitting, that he was just too proud to accept help.
This was such a fun experience, I even considered doing this again with Violet as a Necromancer or Mitch as a Barbarian. Or James as a Crusader? Any suggestions?
Well, that's all for me today, I'm gonna start my preparations for the finals this semester now, so... until July then ^^
Have fun and stay safe out there!

louis seems like the kind of guy to only have sisters. like he’d probably have two older than him and one younger than him. and he’s already such a good older brother seeing how he treats aj so imagine how he’d be with a little sister. omg he’d probably play dolls with her whenever she asked, let her paint his nails, and play dress up with her🙁he’s so cutie. and with his older sisters he’d probably be soooo annoying, especially if they brought boys over. he’d probably try to intimidate them or something doing stupid little threatening gestures that never worked. or he’d show them geoff, like squeezing in between his sister and some guy to talk about the latest tricks he taught geoff.
i’m a firm believer in girl dad and girl brother louis supremacy and you should be too!!
