More Digimon Tinfoil Hat Theory Time

Remember a while back when I speculated that Kiyoshiro’s father may be Ryoma Mogami from Digimon Hunters? Well after I came up with that crazy theory I asked myself- who would Kiyoshiro’s mother be in this scenario? At first, I was just thinking some random girl the audience had never seen before, but then I remembered Mizuki. 

Think about it, she and Kiyoshiro both have blue eyes (granted, they’re different shades of blue, but still), and Mizuki is associated with aquatic Digimon like Kiyoshiro is. 

Of course, Ryoma and Mizuki never interacted like at all, so for them to be a couple would be pretty weird, but they don’t neccessarily need to have a serious romantic relationship. Since Xros Wars and Hunters seems to set in the early new 10s or the late 2000s, and this “Ryoma is Kiyoshiro’s father” theory came from me hoping that Ghost Game will immediately lead into a “Digimon Next Gen” story where Hiro and his team meet up with the children of the previous heroes (which means this hypothetical next gen series probably would take place no more than several years after the 02 epilogue which was set in either 2027 or 2028, meaning that “Digimon Next Gen” would take no later than 2033), the timeline seems to add up to Kiyoshiro being the product of a college tryst (that may or may not have involved alcohol or being trapped in an underwater cave where they were running low on oxygen).

It didn't occur to me until after my initial reblog, but if they were to do a some sort of crossover sequel that revealed that Kiyoshiro is indeed the son of Ryouma Mogami (and possibly Mizuki) from Digimon Hunters (or if someone wanted to write a fanfic exploring the idea), there are a couple of ways to handwave the above ID stuff

Time travel- Digimon Hunters established (or at least heavily implied) that time travel is possible in the Digimon multiverse.

have a flashback (set some time after episode 40 of Ghost Game) where Hiro takes a good look at his ID and go "hey wait a minute, they got my birth-year wrong. How did I not notice this sooner?"- the first episode of Ghost Game established that his dad disappeared around the same time Hiro started middle school, so it's definitely possible that Hiro would be too preoccupied with that to notice a typo on his new student ID

Hiro was born in May 2009. The exact date is still a mystery, i suppose? But the user also points out a few options: 11-14-17-19.

My guess is that the smudged number is actually 14. In 2022 the only episode close to one of those dates is The Crimson Banquet, which aired on May 15.

My logic? Going by the fact Masaru's birthday is on April 2 -- same date the first episode aired -- and Haru's is on July 1 -- there was an episode airing in that date, and it was when the last ED of the series, Perfect World debuted -- i suspect Hiro's birthday could be hinted by the episode air date which is closest to either of those options.

And because that smudge makes me think it's a "4" and not "1", "7" or "9".

Some color palette funny talk, from an amateur artist who just likes coloring and study colors from time to time

Ok so a friend came talking about Daigo and Meiko's hair colors being depicted as black, but actually not being totally a black shade at all -- Meiko's hair has blue highlights and Daigo's green highlights. So she wondered if Rui's hair meant to not be purple but silver.

Her question was "Can you explain why you think Rui's hair is purple and not silver?"

And I found that curious, because Rui's purple is more pale than other characters like Miyako, Mirei, Sayo, etc... But my brain still interprets Rui's hair as purple.

To be honest, color is a thing that changes depending on the palette, what you have to be careful is what this user here pointed out about local colors and perceived contrast (something i didn't know UNTIL a couple of days ago! but i think i had some idea of that even without knowing its technical name!!?) -- so you can still be accurate to its palette even when drastically changing the color palette.

For example, Ichijouji Ken's hair had been depicted as either indigo blue, deep purple/blue and pitch black with gray highlights in many types of media, because in anime (gen) deep blue/purple/green hair usually corresponds to real life's black hair.

So, could Rui's hair color be translated to silver?

My answer is no. Because usually silver hair is depicted as a light grey white-ish shade of either cyan or green -- this kind of thing varies. It can be easily mistook with grey and white hair in anime, but grey hair is more darker and white is more off-white-ish than what is supposed to be translated to silver hair.

The biggest example i can give for now is Silver from Sonic series:

Silver fur is... well, silver. You can see how it varies from art-to-art and is not a dark grey or a full white shade. Yes, all of those are from Sonic Team's in-house artists.

White in anime is usually consistent in color palettes -- Check Rouge (from Sonic franchise as well) and see how her white fur is constantly consistent -- it's either a full white color in some artworks, or an off-white shade.

And grey hair in anime is also consistent in its color, it's a more darker grayish color or a light gray color, but it does not vary that much like silver hair does. It might be just my own interpretation, but Mogami Ryouma's and Higashimitarai Kiyoshiro's hair color translate to me as grey and not silver at all:

(but remember when i said Ken's hair CHANGES in some merch/material? well... Kiyoshiro's hair also varies in art/merch which this rule is applied AS WELL -- so maybe i'm not sure about Kiyocchi, but Ryouma's definitely supposed to be gray-ish imo...?)

Rui's hair is depicted as a consistent pale purple in everywhere -- unless the Imperialdramon space in 02TB, which his hair and everything inside that place goes into pink and purple-tones (oh i love that scene a ton!!)

Therefore my brain does not interpret it as silver -- because 1) it's not even a grayish off-white shade of purple local color that varies from art-to-art like SilverTH; 2) if it was supposed to be silver they wouldn't have even made it purple-ish in the first instance; 3) this purple is consistent with most of the merch/material, so yeah, purple.

Sep/2018 & Jan/2019 → July/2023

Art style evolved since 2018, and with this some design quirks on them as well. Instead of making a separate post for each of them… I will post them together, since they were planned to be a “trio of misfits”.

First rough idea was “I need to make a new character to fill the Fragment of Light” in my DigiTimeLines project. Soleil came first, as the mysterious yet suspicious vessel for “Homeostasis” – which was my trying to work with ▽ back in time until i decided this wouldn’t work with Adv/02 lore and started to just plot new ideas based on  ▽ concepts. So, this “Homeostasis” who keeps in touch with Soleil? Might not be the real one. I won’t spoil stuff in-progress sorry.

Soleil was inspired by a Kamen Rider Fourze character (you can notice it by the space naming + the “uniform”) – Sakuta Ryuusei/Kamen Rider Meteor, which is one of my favorite secondary Riders in the entire franchise. I’m not spoiling Fourze, but if you watched it you’ll notice the similarities soon. Besides Ryuusei, I also got driven back into Xros Wars Hunters arc and got some inspiration from Mogami Ryouma for his classy and smug style. I think if Soleil had a voice actor… It would probably be shared with Ryouma’s – because I like this character and enjoyed his VA in Hunters (who’s also Simon from TTGL). Ah, the Detective Ichijouji blog-and-story Soleil has aged up a little more – So he’s not a 14yo there!!

As for Lune… She came later in the same month. She was supposed to be the “psychic girl” with the Fragment of Energy and be Soleil’s ally-and-best-friend. Her design was inspired by another Fourze character, Nadeshiko/Kamen Rider Nadeshiko. Despite the appearance being quite inspired by Nadeshiko… Her personality is… not much. She could’ve gotten Amano Nene’s vibes more often – she’s a mysterious girl, yet she advocates for pacific methods and found interesting Daichi’s ways to challenge Soleil-and-”Homeo” justice. Besides that, she… She doesn’t like to cross the line, and this is why she’s the only person (besides Étoile) who can stop Soleil from going off the rails. But she has her own issues too!! She only follows what she thinks is right and correct. 

Étoile was the last, and his entire existence is a SPOILER for both projects featuring him. Despite using male pronouns, Étoile is enby and it might make sense once you learn more about him. His design is based on a Beyblade character whose name I only know by “Kenny”. He’s also paired with a Pokomon/Viximon subspecies, and its name is Renard.

Ah, the Detective Ichijouji blog-and-story Soleil has aged up a little more – So they’re not their original ages there!!

Can I quick scream about the presence of an Akari in this series? I use that name all the time for my OCs, and I loved how mature she was in this season. But anyway!

Me waiting for episode 43 of Ghost Game: I wonder if this episode will provide more insight into Kiyoshiro’s past and/or stuff I can warp into evidence to support my tinfoil theory that Kiyoshiro’s father is Ryoma Mogami from Hunters.

So heeey, this had been my idea since day one, back in 2012. In the AU Ryouma would be like… Erm, this thing. I apologize for making it creepy but… this kind of light/soft body horror is okayish for me.

(also i like masked villains and heroes since i was a kid… or else i’d not have had a wild crush on toku heroes and… AHEM… Medabots’ Phantom Renegade (Henry/Hikaru), which is the insp for Daisuke’s role.)

Ryouma and Psychemon/Astamon, alongside Ren and Airu (+ their mons) were recruited by Bagramon to investigate Quartzmon, but it ended with Quartzmon corrupting Ryouma once they found it. Like i said before in the previous posts about the AU, Quartzmon is a parasite. Not only did he corrupt Pseychemon, but he also managed to take control over Ryouma’s body and then turn him into this… thing.

Quartzmon changes Ryouma’s body and mind, and also in the DigiQuartz/Digital World he gains this very… creepy appearance (don’t worry, it’s a mask and a hood, nothing terrifying i swear)

Also, he refers to himself by "Quartz-kid."

Bagramon does know Ryouma is the host, but he does not know how to catch him, because he kept getting away. Also, the DigiQuartz is his ‘habitat’ so… Bagramon decided to just focus on recruiting people to combat the digimon running amok, and trying to find the mysterious 7th hero who inherited the will and power from the previous heroes from the Legend.
