Hey, can I give you my tumblr protip?

In these difficult times, I aggressively block keywords and tags to create a lush safespace where I can look at butts and gif sets of cartoon characters relatively free from worry. But if you filter a keyword, Tumblr will filter any occurance of that string of letters in any context. You could be missing so many posts about "ELONgated sTRUMPets gROWLING" just because you don't want to hear about the latest stupid thing some rich asshole said or did.

So, the trick is to also filter the inoccuous words. If tumblr says a post contains filtered keyword "Elon," scroll on by. But if it says it contains filtered keywords "Elon" and "melon" you can click through to your fruit related content.

This also means you don't have to add multiple iterations of a word! "Nazi" will block all mention of "nazis" and "nazism."

(this tip does not work for filtered tags, only for filtered keywords)

Remember, there is a difference between staying informed and doomscrolling. You're not burying your head in the sand if you choose to have tumblr be your respite. Get your news from reliable news sources and get your fanart of rouge the bat wider than she is tall, with tits to match, on tumblr dot com.

How good is STRQ when it comes to cooking?

woe. strq headcanons be upon thee.

Summer: We already know Summer at least was good at baking, arguably even great since that was one of her primary characteristics for years (and still kinda is 😭). Her desserts are legendary, to the point that they became something of a legend back in their Beacon days. This woman made baking into an art. Literally. She would bake some elaborate over-the-top cake as a hobby if given the tools and time.

But when it comes to anything other than baking? Uh. Well. She can make it look nice, at least, but the taste will either be the blandest thing you have ever tasted or a blend of flavours that REALLY don't mix well together because she decided to 'experiment'. She's not bad. It's edible. Sometimes even great! But her strength lies with desserts.

Taiyang: There has never been a more Grill Dad on Remnant. You put this man in front of a grill, give him some sausages and a pair of tongs and he will deliver the perfectly grilled barbeque you need. If Summer's expertise is dessert, his is dinner. And lunch, and breakfast, and—

Point is, Taiyang puts a lot of care into what he cooks and everyone's dietary needs. He's the one writing a meal plan every week and making sure his team has a balanced diet that compliments their lifestyle. He's shit at desserts but hey, he's packing their lunches for them, he can't be good at everything.

Raven: Surprisingly, pretty... decent? Because of his semblance, Qrow was often left out of hunting, foraging or even cooking in the camp—which was sort of bad seeing as the tribe's 'everybody out for themselves' mentality meant that they were likely hoping he'd just starve. This left Raven as the one who had to cook for the both of them, using what limited materials they had. She learnt all she could about poisonous plants and fungi, what she could find around her that was edible, how to make sure neither of them starved. If Taiyang is the health nut, Raven is the safety nut.

I think her (and Qrow too) would also hate wasting food, given how close they've come to dying of starvation many times before.

Qrow: Has a fear of cooking due to his semblance and many, many incidents in the past. Would much rather stick with 2 minute noodles instead thanks. Though, once someone drags his ass to the kitchen and starts teaching him how to cook, I think he'd be really into it. He'd push himself to learn until his cooking was on par with Taiyang's. The problem is for him to overcome that barrier and also make something that isn't a depression meal.

Just do NOT expect him to wash the dishes. This man will eat soup out of a shoe if he has to.

Hmm yknow I just remembered/realized something

I don't think Atlas always had a military- it's probably obvious to like, anyone else, but I'm like, 90% sure that Mantle/Atlas got rid of its military post Great War like the other kingdoms did. And then, yknow, reinstated it at some point after that happened.

I think this mostly because it's never said that Mantle/Atlas was the exception when everyone got rid of their militaries. Since it's post-war, Atlas reinstating their military wouldn't have been brought up during the 'Great War' video. Mantle refusing to give up their military would've certainly caused some issues and would've been notable enough for Qrow to mention, but clearly that never happened.

This is interesting to me, and makes the most sense, because Oz is like, pretty explicitly anti-military. He wouldn't have let one kingdom keep their military if he had any say, based on the way he acts in terms of discussing the military (calling Ironwoods fleets an 'eyesore', not being happy a foreign kingdoms army is on his doorstep, not using Ironwoods army to his advantage even when it could help except in an emergency, etc). It makes sense for Atlas to put their military back up at a point where Oz has no say, either because he has no power or because he's dead, especially if they were under a new leader/council.

Honestly, I fully believe Oz raised Atlas in hopes the kingdoms innovation would help guide humanity forward and protect people. Unfortunately, I think this ended up being twisted into a military being created, which would be pretty on brand for Atlas.
