kwangjungmoonau:
Na-Young had spoiled Kwang-Jung when he lived with her. She got up early every morning to make him special breakfasts that included little smiley faces or special drinks inspired by her knowledge as a shaman. She gave him lunches that she made sure would last him until when he got home. Snacks were special and intricate. Dinner was generally lighter, but she made sure every meal was special in some way. Rice and Injeolmi were constantly available to Kwang while he grew up. No one ever cooked quite as good as his mother did in Kwang’s mind. When he ate elsewhere, he always kept in mind that it would never compare to the perfection of his mother’s cooking.
Spoiled rotten to the core when it came to food had made Kwang picky when it came to food, and it was at its worst when he knew Jamie. He would pick at food that wasn’t perfect, he’d refuse to eat certain foods at certain restaurants (because it wasn’t ‘good enough’), and he’d complain quietly to Jamie when he didn’t like something. He wouldn’t make a loud noise, of course, if he didn’t like something, but looking back Kwang knew it had made him annoying to have to eat with. Looking back he wouldn’t have tried to eat with him, because the burden of having to find a place was always on the other person even though he was the picky eater.
Interpol had kicked any pickiness out of Kwang the moment he decided that he was willing to do undercover missions. How could he care about what he was going to eat when he had no choices really? He could either starve, or he could eat the food that seemed gross to him. Eventually, after a bunch of times of having to do that, Kwang began to find ways to cope with how things tasted, and this lead to eventually Kwang not really caring too much about what he had to eat. Everything was fine as long as he was able to get full.
Undercover missions had the same effect on a lot of things including his sleeping arrangements. Kwang learned to get ten minutes of sleep every hour to try to make up for lost sleep sometimes. He learned how to sleep in incredibly small and crowded situations. He could sometimes sleep in loud situations though After everything with Geneva, Kwang wasn’t sure if he could do that anymore. Most beneficial to Kwang was that he now could sleep no matter where he was. He could sleep lying awkwardly, sitting up, and even standing up if he was leaning safely enough on something. All Kwang ever needed was something to comfortably lay his head on.
So Jamie’s concern about where he was sleeping confused him at first, but then he remembered that most people wouldn’t have liked sleeping on a couch. “A bed wouldn’t be bad. I would enjoy a place to go through paperwork though, so I look forward to that.”
Her arched brow as he mentioned that he wasn’t super picky anymore made him snicker a bit before continuing what he was saying about dried food. As she began to ask about why he did that, he considered telling her, but then she continued to talk, causing him to focus on her. He began to type both of their orders on his phone as he listened to her. Once she finished ordering, he called one of the guards that were going over old evidence, and he told him their order before telling the guard to use a fake name, cover his face, and to use the fake credit card.
Finally, Kwang turned back to Jamie who was now sitting on the couch petting her dog. He shook his head as she began to apologize about the couch before trying to hide a snicker as she asked about him losing his sense of caring about bed quality either. “Don’t worry about it. The couch was fine. I don’t care where I have to sleep as long as I can lay my head down. I spent a lot of time undercover, and I didn’t have much of a choice about the quality of what I got. The food that I got had to last me the months I might be where I was, and sometimes I had to sleep standing up or sleeping in the trunk of cars to make up for lost sleep. I’m fine with whatever. I wish I could remember all the things I’ve adjusted to, but… if you’re used to it do you notice it?” He asked with a laugh before sitting on the couch near her.
“Though, I will admit that freeze dried cheesecake mix is…” He shivered a bit remembering the paste that came out of that, “Horrifying. So at least I still have some sort of taste?” He asked with a laugh.
Tumblr media
“A bed wouldn’t be bad. I would enjoy a place to go through paperwork though, so I look forward to that.” He said and, in that moment, Jamie Kwon’s brain started to plan out on how she could change one of the rooms and transform it into a proper office where Kwang could work and feel like he had a place of his own in her house to peacefully go through emails, paperwork and even have meetings without the barks of Shadow making him move to another room. Jamie’s attention was pulled back towards Kwang as the man began to talk again telling her not to worry about him having to sleep on the couch before he explained why he had no issue sleeping pretty much anywhere he could find and eat what was available during his undercover missions.
“I’m fine with whatever. I wish I could remember all the things I’ve adjusted to, but… if you’re used to it do you notice it?” He said and she laughed softly with him before nodding.
“I suppose you’re right. I adjusted to dancing in high heels for endless hours and even sleeping in a car when we were first starting to do small concerts and we didn’t have enough budget. However, my situation was nowhere near as bad as yours, and I probably sound like a brat right now trying to relate so I’ll just say: I can only imagine.” She said with a small chuckle as she shook her head before she moved her legs up on the couch, her knees near her chest as one of her arms rested on the upper part of the couch and then rested her head on her hand, so this way her body would be facing his side. The woman smiled a little bit as he began to talk about some dried cheesecake mix, laughing a bit as he shivered but wrinkled up her nose a little as he finally said how horrible it tasted and laughed. Hearing him laugh like that filled her heart with a special kind of warmth that spread across her body and caused her smile to grow a little more before she let out another laugh of her own. Ever since they were in Europe, Kwang had been incredibly tense and busy as he tried to keep her and her friends safe before he had to work with a team to organize the group’s reallocation to Los Angeles; rounds of security, planning and supervising the installation of protocols and security systems. There wasn’t much time for them to sit down and laugh like they were doing it at the moment.
“Well, that only adds you needing to try a really great cheesecake soon.” She said laughing softly still, before studying his face for a second as she smiled again, “It’s good to hear you laugh again. I know you’re here to protect me and the other girls but you need time to relax a little bit too. As hard as I know that can be.” She said with a smile, “And I guess that something else I can help with. If you allow me too, for old times’ sake. Will you be up for the challenge, Moon?” She added grinning a little more.

kwangjungmoonau:
Arms outreached, long dark hair fluttering in the air, long legs bent at the knee kicking at the air haunted Kwang’s nights lately. Her desperate plea to be let down always started the dream, and her piercing sharp scream as she fell woke Kwang up in a cold sweat. His heart was always racing just like the moment he first noticed something was wrong. Jamie’s face seemed to slow down time in the dream, and the main thing that haunts Kwang is the sheer fear he could see in her face as she looked up the second as the cord gave out. Kwang could not shake the way she froze that second. He had seen so many awful things in his life, and somehow watching Jamie helpless to her fate threw all of the gates that Kwang set up open- letting free all of the fears and traumas Kwang tried to hide away.
Lately, his nights were restless with frightening alternatives to what could have happened that night if Kwang hadn’t been so lucky. Twice he had gotten his chance to know Jamie like how he wanted to know her. Once he let her go, and in the dreams the second chance he froze as he watched Jamie fall through the air. Again and again he attempted to will his body to move in the dream. He’d desperately scream inside of his mind to move and nothing would happen. He eventually would give in and simply try to force himself to open his mouth, and he would get to that point but when he’d attempt to yell nothing would come out of his mouth. He’d grind and push and desperately cry in the back of his mind to no avail. Again and again he suffered through impotently watching Jamie’ crash towards the ground while doing nothing.
His brain couldn’t seem to completely believe that Kwang had somehow managed to not only move, but to get under Jamie in time to keep her from being harmed. It didn’t seem to remember how Kwang heard Jamie’s little giggle soon after behind a door he normally wasn’t allowed through. Neither did it remember how Jamie’s eyes combed down his body when he walked into the room to let the girls know that their manager had finally authorized the girls finally cancelling their concert, and that he needed them to be ready to leave the stage in five minutes. Had Jamie ever looked at him like that before? He knew it didn’t mean anything. If it meant something, Jamie likely would have told him (or so he told himself). Still, even though his dreams couldn’t seem to remember how her eyes darkened as he rolled up his sleeves, he relished in the small victory. At least he had saved Jamie long enough for her, to seem to notice him as something more than the boring boy at home. That was something to be proud of… he supposed. Though, he didn’t try to think about it too much. False hope was too painful to bear.
When he had nights when the dreams haunted him, Kwang went to go find where Jamie was, and he did security checks on her. He did a radius security check for his own comfort starting with her bedroom. He’d make sure her windows were locked and that the alarms were still active. He’d make sure that Jamie had a weapon left near her bed, and that her phone was charging (that was not just for security reasons but because it was nice). Sometimes, he’d put a water bottle beside her bed. He then would move to her bedroom door that he’d make sure was able to properly bolt should Jamie need it. He’d then check on the door he had installed that would lock down the upstairs should Jamie need it. He then checked to make sure all the window alarms were working, and he’d check on all of the cameras. While doing so, he’d do surprise checks on the other houses to make sure that they were on their toes. He would then check on the front door to make sure the dead bolt, two locks, chain, and mechanical device that blocked the door still was working. He last would check on her basement that he had been using as an imperfect shelter should Jamie need it. This process was enough to convince Kwang’s mind that Jamie was safe, and so he’d then lay on the couch in the living room to listen to hear when Jamie got up.
Lately, Kwang had been sleeping on the couch in Jamie’s home telling her that he wanted to sleep there, but it was more due to Kwang being unwilling to intrude on Jamie’s space. Unfortunately, as he worked on the case more he realized this case was going to last much longer than he thought, and he needed more time to be able to work on it. More than that he needed a comfortable place to sleep and work that was close to Jamie without bothering her too much. He had considered a hotel, but that was still far enough away that Jamie could be hurt or easily kidnapped. Kwang didn’t want to risk it, and so he gave in to asking her if he could sleep within her home. He knew it might be rude since they had just started to get to know each other again, but he hoped she’d understand the risk of it all.
He frowned for a moment as Jamie began to grin towards him wondering if she thought that he was joking, but then as she began to speak he began to understand not only that response but Jamie herself a bit better. Jamie saw their meeting as not two people getting to know each other all over again. Jamie seemed to see them as the same two people in essence, and that they only needed to catch up- or so it seemed from her response. He thought that she wouldn’t want him to assume she was the same person or that he had any right to think that he knew anything about her now, but finally Kwang realized Jamie saw him as the same person as was in Seoul.
Unfortunately, Kwang didn’t know that person that well anymore, but at the moment that wasn’t important. What was important was that Jamie agreed to let him stay inside of her home, “I can take the room down the hall near the window, so I can be closest to that weak spot.” That- and it was the room furthest from Jamie. Much less anxiety about closing her in. “Glad I can make you feel safe.” He admitted before focusing on what she said about dinner. “I’m not super picky anymore. You spend several months eating dried food from boxes and you sort of lose any sense of caring too much about quality.” He shrugged before adding, “Watermelon soju is still my favorite. I’ll order- for your safety. I’m getting mandu as an appetizer for the both of us, and Bibimbap for myself. Do you know what you might want? I’ll also get sweet Tteokbokki if they have it.” He grinned as he pulled out his phone to get one of the other agents to go pick up the food and pay for it with cash.
Tumblr media
“I can take the room down the hall near the window, so I can be closest to that weak spot.” Kwang finally said after she gladly agreed to let him stay at her house.
“It’s okay. Wherever you feel the most comfortable really. My main concern is you getting proper sleep for once.” She said as she looked back at him and gave him a small warm smile. Jamie wasn’t oblivious of all the hard work Kwang had done in order to care for her, several mornings she would wake up and a bottle of water would be at the table next to her bed, at times she would wake up thinking her phone would be completely dead as she was sure she had forgotten to charge it the night before, open windows suddenly closed off overnight. He’s just doing his job, Jamie repeated over and over as she felt that familiar spark in her chest fluttering again whenever she got to see his face the next day. At eighteen, Jamie quickly developed feelings for Kwang Jung Moon, feelings that she didn’t precisely shared with him as she was young and a little shy to make the first move, thinking that if he ever saw her differently he would have told her something. But always, the young woman had felt there was something between them and ten years later, that same feeling sparked.
“I’m not super picky anymore.” He said causing Jamie to look up from her phone to his face with an eyebrow raise and an expression of surprise and disbelief but choose not to joke as he continued to speak, “You spend several months eating dried food from boxes and you sort of lose any sense of caring too much about quality.” He added.
“Why would you..- okay that’s a story I have to hear later on, I guess.” She said with a chuckle, “However, I’m going to make you get that sense back though.” She said with a grin before handing him her phone so he would look at the number of the restaurant she was talking about, and then smiled again as he admitted his favorite flavor for soju hadn’t changed. “I still like the grapefruit one that most. And Bulgogi would be great.. also some kimchi and maybe a little bit of rice would be even better...” She said with a grin before she took her phone back and watched him move away just a few steps as he began to talk on the phone. After watching him from behind for a couple of second, Jamie looked down at Shadow who was looking up at her with his head tilted to the side. “I know, right?” She mumbled before chuckling glancing at Kwang one last time before she walked over to the couch and sat down, bouncing a little bit as she realized how uncomfortable the couch was.
“How on earth have you been sleeping here? The floor of my first apartment was more comfortable than this.” She said laughing as she stood up and looked down at the couch, “I’m sorry I haven’t been here in a long time. The beds are better I swear. Or have you lost all sense of quality for that as well? You have to make me a list you know? Of things I need to help get back for you.” She said with a grin.

kwangjungmoonau:
The long haul was all that Kwang had ever known when it came to his job. He never got a job that was a simple sting operation. It took Kwang several months to break all of his cases. It took working with several organizations, often going undercover, sometimes doing several stake outs where he had to do things that most others would quit jobs over, and spending weeks worth of time going over paperwork again and again until the details made some sort of sense. It was never easy. That was why Kwang took the cases. He didn’t want the ones that were obvious. He wanted the cases that required putting several different frameworks into a machine and trying to combine all of them to find out which of the possibilities worked out the best. That was what Kwang was the best at.
The Mamamoo case was a relatively young case compared to what Kwang was used to, but somehow it felt longer than any of the cases that he had ever done before. Somehow having to face Jamie every single day made the case so much harder than any other case. He wanted to give her a new answer every single day, but he couldn’t do so most of the time. He was still having to wait on the information from local police stations, and that was taking a bit of time due to jurisdiction and internet safety laws. Again and again he had to tell Jamie and her friends that he was having to wait while he went over the same information again and again and again.
Then to add to that stress was what happened in Paris. Kwang and Jamie both had insisted that it was not a good idea to continue the tour, but the investors and their managers had insisted on them going forward. Kwang even insisted that Interpol was sure that the next stadium was likely to be targeted, but the agency completely shrugged him off. Every day up until the concert, Kwang had nervously tried to go over every single detail to make sure that nothing happened. A task that was a million little parts that realistically no two people could really do. Kwang had asked for back up, but at the time the Paris police were crushed with protests against a new law that Macron had passed.
Then the night of Kwang was doing rounds while Jamie was preparing to fly around in the harness. While in the back, Kwang noticed something in the lights glaring on the steel ropes that held up Jamie. Unsure what it was, Kwang began to run towards the stage to warn them, but he was so far away that they couldn’t hear him at the time. Kwang began to shout in his walkie talkie, but Savannah was further than he was. As Jamie launched in the air, he could hear the groaning overhead. Kwang was too focused on Jamie to think too hard about what was happening. The inevitable snap came, and Kwang quickly rushed where he felt Jamie would fall. Thankfully, Jamie was both lightweight and not too far in the air enough to hurt him. His knees buckled a bit, but other than that he was able to catch her- rather gracelessly. Still, she was safe.
At the same time, Kwang heard Savannah cursing about someone in the back trying to get into backstage. Finally, the tour was cancelled in its totality.
Finally, Kwang could focus on security for the girls. He was assigned six people other than Savannah which meant he could assign three of them to the other girls, two to doing the annoying paperwork of getting the evidence, and one of them to work between Savannah and him. He planned out watches, putting out cameras, coming up with directions for the girls, planning self defense training with their bodies and also with a taser, and how to get the girls safely around Los Angeles. This was something Kwang was great at, and it showed in how most of the girls didn’t complain about having Interpol around them. The main complaint seemed to be that they missed their parents which Kwang was going to allow in two weeks once he was able to make sure that all of their homes were impenetrable.
That day Kwang was having security alarms installed in the home, and he was talking to people about making a panic room installed in the basement of all of the girl’s homes. Jamie’s was the one he was the most familiar with, so he started with that. Once in Jamie’s living room he pointed to each corner of the high roof, “The roof is high, and so the room needs to be able to bear a lot of weight. The roof is composite, but I know some of it is concrete. Therefore, we need to accommodate for that. I need bomb proof. I need nuclear bomb proof. I need to know that no matter what happens whoever is in that room will survive.”
“Understood. The package you paid for will cover that. You understand that getting under any rubble is not the room’s responsibility right?” The technician asked.
“Yeah, I understand. Thanks.”
With that Kwang walked the man out of the door talking about how it will be paid for, and then walked the man to his car outside of the gate that Kwang locked once again.
As he walked back in Jamie’s home, he jumped a bit at the sound of her asking him a question before turning to her with curiosity written on his face. “No, no more security. This is my case due to the organization involved. I’m the lead on the case. As far as food, write down everything that you want, and then we will either order it online or someone will pick it up for you. Anything that requires you to go out on a routine will be taken care of by different agents using different names every time.” He went to her fridge and sighed as he realized that she really didn’t have any food, “We can order dinner if you’d like. Though, we’ll have to send it somewhere else, and then we’ll bring it here.” He turned to her. “I actually have a question for you. We’d like to have someone on the inside of the house at all times watching you. It would mean that we can get to you faster. However, we also don’t want to invade your privacy. Would you mind if I stayed in one of the rooms in the house? If not, that’s fine. We can establish a base somewhere on your property to get to you fast.”
Tumblr media
The day the first Paris concert was supposed to take place, Jamie was rehearsing with the group while Kwang, several other Interpol agents, the police and the extra security her agency had agreed to bring in order to keep them save walked around trying to make sure everything was in deed safe and perfect for the concert that night. After singing one of her solo songs, the woman walked to a certain spot of the stage where usually she got her harness strapped on to fly around the arena, she had done it many times before but suddenly she felt something in her chest telling her something was wrong; the woman even tugged on the ropes a little to make sure they were okay before nodding towards the staff to indicate she was ready to test it but as she began to be lifted in the air she looked to the other side of the stage and noticed how Kwang was running towards where she was, it took only a second for her to hear the first ripping sound of the ropes causing her to look up finally her eyes spotting how the harness was breaking. “Get me down!!” She screamed, looking towards the technician feeling the ropes break enough that her body dropped down a bit before finally it snapped completely allowing gravity to pull her down as she screamed. Then she felt a pair of arms catching her, hands gripping on her as Kwang caught her keeping her from getting really injured. The singer only was left with bruises from the harness friction as she dropped down in the air the first time before finally falling down but it left everyone shaken up enough that the concert was finally cancelled after that.
“Was anyone else a little turned on when he caught you?” Hyejin said the moment the four singers went back to their dressing room to grab her things and get back to their hotel.
“Hyejin! Jamie protested as she looked at the youngest member and shook her head a little bit before laughing slightly.
“What?! I'm just saying what we were all thinking.” She insisted before Wheein and Byul agreed to the statement causing Jamie’s cheeks to blush furiously at the thought.
“What? Oh… come on guys! He….” She started saying but trailed off as she shook her head and turned to stuff things in her bag so they wouldn’t see how she was smiling. “He,” She said a moment later, turning to her friends as she placed a strand of hair behind her ear, “He… was just doing his job. So… that is… yeah it was, I’m kind of sweating a little bit just by thinking about it. Now shush!” She said laughing softly again before her eyes looked towards the door as there was a knock, “Come in?” She said before Kwang showed through the door causing the girls to grin or purse her lips to keep themselves from grinning too much. Her eyes roamed all over his face down his jawline towards his shoulders and his arms that seemed to look even more defined as he rolled up his sleeve while he spoke. “Mhm… yep. Ready in five. Okay…” She said softly, trying her best to focus on something else but Kwang was too distracting, she was surprised her brain actually registered what he was saying. Everyday, Jamie had to remind herself not to stare at Kwang Jung Moon as he worked around her but every day, she couldn’t help but get drawn in by the way his teeth showed as he smiled at her. She couldn’t help but notice how her body seemed to naturally lean closer as he placed a hand behind her small back to keep people away from her when he was walking her somewhere; every damn day was a struggle to keep her eyes away from the most attractive man she had ever seen in her life.
“No, no more security…” Kwang said before stating that since it was under his jurisdiction, he was taking the lead on everything revolving her case. As he continued to talk, Jamie jumped on the kitchen counter to sit down while she drank her water and once more, she couldn’t help but follow his every move as he walked towards the fridge and mentioned they could order something for dinner before turning to her which immediately forced her to compose herself and look from his back to his face. “I actually have a question for you.” He said causing Jamie to arch an eyebrow a bit wondering what he wanted to ask before he went on to explain how it was recommended someone to stay with her for security and safety purposes before finally asking If he could stay with her, “If not, that’s fine. We can establish a base somewhere on your property to get to you fast.” He added making it impossible for her to stop the grin that spread across her lips and showed her teeth.
“Let me see if I got this right.” She said sitting up straight and tilted her head to the side as she continued to smile and look at him, “You’ve passed out drunk in my very tiny apartment back in Seoul ages ago and you think I might feel uncomfortable if you stayed here now?” She teased, “Of course, Moon. I…” she started but paused for a second as she took a small breath, “I don’t think I’d have let you stay anywhere else if I’m honest.” She said smiling at him for a second before she looked down as she jumped off the counter, “also for dinner, I happen to know this really good Korean restaurant. I swear the food is actually good… maybe not as good as your mother’s super-secret tteokbokki recipe but it’s pretty good.” She said with a chuckle before she walked towards the living room to look for her cellphone, “They also any flavor of soju you can think of.” She said softly, glancing back at the tall man with a grin before looking ahead as she reached the living room and spotted her phone on the couch.
“So, how does that sound to you?”

LA || Mwon
It had been almost three weeks since the London bombing but it felt like it had been months instead as several events happened worsening the safety situation for all four Mamamoo members, their staff and their fans. The first week after the attack the group had been focusing in making then right decisions, mourn the loss of the lives of innocents during that night, negotiate with investors and their label to decide the closing of their tour which was supposed to happen in Paris... a closing that never quite happen as the stage and equipment the girls used for their performance was messed with and even though the security was increased in an attempt to keep everyone safe, someone broke into the backstage almost reaching the girls. This finally forced the label and investors to cancel the last two concerts because it was simply unsafe for everyone involved. After figuring out where each girl would stay, while who ever was responsible for targeting them was caught, and issuing statements to apologize to the public and announce the break the group would take from their careers; Jamie finally got into a private plane heading to Los Ángeles until further notice.
Sun shined bright, the summer heat caused a couple of beads of sweat to gather on her forehead as she stood by the edge of the pool glancing at the view of the trees that surrounded her house in the hills with a glimpse of the city in the far distance. For twelve years, Jamie had felt her life was on a constant move; from becoming a training to preparing for the groups debut and then working on one album after the other, it felt like for the first time in over a decade her busy schedule had come to a stop, but this time it was not a simple vacation, it was not a break while working in music knowing next year she would’ve releasing something else. It was a full stop for undefined time. Her German Shepard, Shadow barked as it ran around the big space outside before stopping by the singer, he moved his head so it would be under her hand, asking for some pets before he looked up at her with big dark eyes causing Jamie to smile a little bit.
“I’m okay. I promise.” She said softly as she scratched behind his ears before bending down to kiss the top of his head and then walking back inside the house with him following her. There were a couple of people in her house that day as Kwang had insisted on the improvement of her security system which he was supervising. Her newly dyed dark curls bounced on he ponytail as she entered the house, leaving her shoes at the entrance before she walked further in and headed towards the source of voices talking; Kwang giving some pointers on something just as she entered the room he was in and stood the the door frame watching him for a second as he was walking the workers towards exist and watched them go past the gate before walking back in.
“Everything good?” She asked with soft smile before nodding as he responded and she started walking towards the kitchen. “I think I need to go grocery shopping, i only have water.” She said with a small laugh as she opened the fridge and took two bottles of water and gave one to Kwang before opening hers and taking a sip. “So now what? Do we hire more security?... do you have to go back?” She asked feeling slight panic blooming in her chest at the thought of Kwang having to go away again.

kwangjungmoonau:
Again and again over the years Kwang attempted to perfect how he let people know bad news. He tried to cushion it, but then he felt like he was treating the victim like a baby when they were anything other. He tried telling them exactly how things were, but then he felt like he had done more damage than was necessary. Eventually, Kwang fell into telling people bad news how he would have wanted to hear it. He’d want it honestly without any kind of malice or without a cutting edge. He’d want someone to treat him like an adult, but an adult that understood undertones and who might analyze every word that is said.
That last part was why sometimes Kwang said too much to people. He found that at the end of the day most people found it either helpful or charming. They never found it harmful… at least when Kwnag did it, because Kwang knew what things not to tell victims- unless of course that they asked for it. Often, Kwang wanted people to fully understand what he was saying, so then they’d be able to take what he said as carefully as possible. When people had all the information that was useful, Kwang found that most of them made the best decision possible.
He felt this to be even more true with Jamie Kwon. She was intelligent enough to fully grasp something, and he didn’t worry that Jamie would completely melt down and freak out. Jamie was so much stronger than she realized. Kwang was sure that she might cry, and he knew that she’d worry about her family and pets if she had any. That was why he immediately let her know that no living being had been harmed (other than maybe plants). Jamie could take what he was saying, but he wanted it to be as easy for her as possible. He needed Jamie to be brave when the rest of her team could not be at the time (which was completely understandable).
The answers that Jamie was looking for were obscured to Kwang at the moment. There were a million threads that Kwang needed to chase down, but in a day there had been so much carnage that Kwang didn’t have time to look at all of the details. It could be an angry fan that joined the terrorist organization. It could be to get the media attention for the organization. It could be due to one of the girl’s relationship with someone. It could simply be due to who would upset someone else the most. There were so many options, and Kwang needed more time.
However, Jamie needed something to hold onto at the moment. The questions that followed were easier to answer though, and Kwang decided to tackle them to give Jamie a sense of control. Because at the end of the day, the girls had the right to make the choice. “Well… it is up to you guys. However, we would not suggest going back to Korea where it’s relatively small, and we would easily be spotted. We can protect you three in group activities, but… a concert is more difficult. I don’t know if we’re going to be able to protect a whole stadium of people.” He admitted, “But it is the choice of you guys for that. As far as hiding, you don’t have to. We could protect you in a relatively large city, and we could do a great job protecting you in a small city if you kept away from people entirely.”
He paused as she began to talk about her parents. “It’s unlikely that the terrorists are coming after your parents. We have sent agents to each of your parents’ homes at the moment, but them attacking your private home is sending a message. It’s about one of you. It is a good idea to keep them away for now. Once you get back to a stable place, we’d likely be able to protect them more.”
Tumblr media
“We would not suggest going back to Korea.” Kwang said. Seoul had been Jamie’s home since she was eighteen, even if at time she might feel lonely because she was really far away from her family, the woman had build a life there; she had friends she could trust and turn to whenever she needed to, she had an apartment that up until that day was safe and perfect for her as it wasn’t too small but not too large that would make her feel even lonelier as the only companionship she had in that apartment was her dog Shadow. Jamie had found her favorite places to eat, her go to grocery store, bars and even nearby destinations to get away from the bustling city to relax and disconnect. She knew the other three members had been born and raise in South Korea, being not allowed to go back home after such a traumatic experience was going to hit theme even harder.
The closing of the tour on the other hand, in Jamie’s mind, it was an easy call; cancel the last two tour dates was the safest decision for everyone, she didn’t want to put more people in danger yet, she knew it would be a more difficult negotiation as it not only involved the group but also their record label, the venue and business people who had invested in the tour. The singer could already feel her head starting to hurt at the thought of endless meetings and phone calls to decide what to do with the rest of the tour. Yet, the woman seemed to relax a little bit as Kwang reassured her that their families were safe and that there was no reason to think the could be targeting them.
“Okay.” She said softly as Kwang finished speaking, “I’ll talk to the girls tomorrow, if you guys let me. They are not going to take this easy... specially Wheein, she’s the most sensitive out of the four of us. I’ll tell them in the morning. Then the next concerts it’s a discussion we have to have with our manager, the label and the investors; I think it’ll be good to have one of you in those meetings, it’ll help us convince them the concerts need to be cancelled or rescheduled.” She said with a heavy sigh as she laid her back on the bed and rubbed her temples for a few seconds. “I’m exhausted and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep.” She said taking a small breath before looking down at Kwang who was still sitting in front of her. “I’m glad you’re here...” she said softly before she sat back up to face him, “I’m not sure I’d be this calm if it weren’t for you.”

kwangjungmoonau:
Sometimes when people around him had something bad happen to them Kwang’s first reaction was to think, “… so what?” It wasn’t because he didn’t care. Kwang did care about the people in his life. Unfortunately, it was the effect of his job. Every day he saw things that most humans simply could not imagine. He talked to people who would never be ‘normal’ again, because they had gotten so used to tragedy in their lives. When Kwang talked to the people in his day to day life, he sometimes wondered why they cared so much about those things. Were they really that bad compared to what was out there? At the end of the day, would the bad news change them the way that they think it will, or would they essentially get to be the same person after a couple of months?
His friendship with Geneva had helped Kwang with that a lot, because he felt comfortable enough with her to say what he really thought instead of lying because he felt bad for thinking what he did. At the end of the day, he knew what he thought was mean, but for a while Kwang wondered if deep down that he was right. What if all the sadness that he felt when bad things happened was selfish and self-centered? What if all of the nations hoarding wealth had humans that were too self-centered to realize that their problems were infinitesimal compared to those in other nations?
Then Geneva had a miscarriage while on a mission with Kwang, and suddenly he realized his pity party was only hurting those that he cared about. The miscarriage had been so sudden that it shocked Kwang and her both. Geneva had not even known that she was pregnant at the time, but then suddenly in the middle of a crowd Geneva fell to her knees and began to cry. Then Kwang noticed red blooming on Geneva’s skirt. In a panic, Kwang rushed her to a hospital, and sitting outside in the waiting room Kwang realized the truth was that all problems were bad. Any pain deserved to be felt, and there could be no judgement for how bad it hurt the person. There needed to be balance in how one responded. But Geneva’s miscarriage mattered.
With Jamie, though, he didn’t hesitate. He didn’t even think for a moment that what she was experiencing was small. Somehow it was easy for Kwang to understand Jamie’s pain without needing to shrink it. He knew he could never fully grasp what it was like to have that many people’s lives in his hands. He had been responsible for slightly more than thirty at once, but that couldn’t compare to packed stadiums. She wasn’t actually responsible for their safety (that was the police, the company hosting the event, and their security), but he understood why she took responsibility in her head even if it wasn’t logical. Emotions weren’t logical, and they were going to come to their own conclusions.
Kwang knew that no security of a musician could have prepared for a terrorist attack that was as organized as that one was. How could they? The terrorists that attacked Jamie’s musical group were sophisticated, and Kwang was convinced that they were playing at a long haul. This was the first step to start pulling someone or something into a trap. It had to be someone important if they were acting that bold.
None of that mattered at the moment though, and Kwang focused on holding Jamie close while he allowed her to experience her emotions. He wasn’t going to try to speed her through crying or try to convince her to find some way to be okay with what happened. At the end of the day, she shouldn’t have. If Jamie felt okay about what happened, Kwang would know there was something wrong with her. Jamie needed to be allowed to be human and feel the fear, sadness, grief, rage, and exhaustion that came with enormous trauma like what Jamie was going through.
So he held her close to his chest. One hand pressed her head against his chest near his heart, and the other wrapped around her waist keeping her close to him. He didn’t say anything after reassuring her, and instead he attempted to rock her only slightly to simulate something that most people associated with motherly safety. He laid his cheek on the top of her head and simply carried her body in his arms, so she could focus on the enormous emotions that she was likely experiencing.
As she cried, Kwang’s chest hurt knowing that there was nothing he really could do to make this better. Nothing he said or did would make this okay. Nothing he said or did would ever be able to make Jamie feel completely safe again. Kwang felt a bit helpless at the sight and sound of the tsunami of emotions that were crashing down on Jamie. All he could do was hold onto her and be a rock to protect her from the worst of it. He hurt for his old friend. He wanted to do something- anything to help her. He would have done anything to make her feel okay again.
He was unsure how long they were like that as Jamie fell apart in his arms, but eventually she pulled back and wiped at her face.
Kwang’s dark eyebrows pulled together at the sight of her fawn skin by a berry pink blush from crying. He reached out and carefully removed a tear, but was quick about it as they were no longer close. His eyes darted anywhere but at her eyes falling on the berry blush, the round ears, and even the bubblegum pink curls. He wasn’t sure why he couldn’t face her eyes at the moment. Maybe he was afraid of what he would find there. Maybe he felt he was too weak to face what he might find there. Even without looking at her eyes, he felt a tug in his chest. A tug he desperately wanted to go away to save Jamie from him being weird with her, but it was so strong. He knew he couldn’t survive looking in her eyes at the moment.
As Jamie touched the center of his forehead near his scar, he almost flinched back, but he quickly stilled so as not to upset her. Touch always felt strange for Kwang, and so instinctively he flinched away almost expecting it to be someone reaching out to harm him. But his brain was quick enough to catch him before he did something to make Jamie feel like he didn’t like her touching him. He raised an eyebrow as he told him that he should stop worrying before quipping back with a teasing grin, “Worrying is my profession. Are you saying I’m ugly cause I’m good at my job?”
His brain begged him to lean into her touch, but his logic reminded him that Jamie was in pain. She was likely anchoring herself to something that felt safe.
So the knock on the door was an appreciated reprieve, because the closer Jamie got to him the less he was sure he could keep up his walls.
Silently, Kwang walked to the door to find Savannah at the door holding up her phone for him to read the text which he quickly began to read as Jamie excused her. Once Jamie was gone, Kwang looked up at Savannah. “That quick? Right after each other?”
Savannah walked in, closed the door, and nodded, “Yeah, it looks like they’re the targets. I haven’t told any of them yet, because we had to get one of the girls to take Benedryl to calm down. I was close to calling for a medic for the young woman. She was turning blue from hyperventilating at first, and… how do you… emotions? Anyways, one of the police officers helped calm her down enough that she took some Benedryl… or a lot- a safe amount. I’m thinking we should tell the ring leader-” Savannah looked towards the bathroom door, “so there is at least one logical brain in the room. The other one was talking something stupid like going to the houses of the families.”
“I think you’re right. I’ll tell Ms. Kwon about what happened. Do you think we should get them together in the morning to talk about what happened?”
“Yeah, hopefully they’ll make the right choice. I’m going to go babysit the others.”
Kwang rubbed his temple. “Security. It’s called Security Savannah.”
“Boring either way. See you in the morning.”
He sighed and turned to look in his bag for a phone charger. As he looked, he heard Jamie ask if anything came up. “Yeah, we… kind of have a situation.” He plugged his phone into the wall before turning to her. “We haven’t told your friends, yet because one of them had to sort of be sedated enough to calm down. We’re hoping telling you first before telling them might give you a chance to be a logical voice when we tell them. So…” He grabbed the chair from the desk before sitting in front of her. “All of your apartments were set on fire today. Your pets and family members are safe, but… the terrorist left their playing card. They didn’t target your family homes, but they targeted you guys’ private homes saying it’s not about your family. We… think… they’re after one or all of you guys for some reason.”
Tumblr media
Jamie sat down on the bed as she continue to brush her hair while watching Kwang plug his phone to his charger as he confirmed that there was an update on the attack, “we kind of had a situation” he said making her arch an eyebrow as she set her hair brush aside and one of her hands moved to grab the ring that was dangling from her necklace. The ring had been a gift her father made her before she left to South Korea, a silver ring with the birth stones of Jamie, her brother and her parents just sons she would remember that they were always there with her even in the distance. “We haven’t told your friends, yet because one of them had to sort of be sedated enough to calm down.” He said and she took a small breath knowing that Wheein was probably the one who had to get sedated as she was the most sensitive out of the four group members. Immediately made a note to ask if she could see her the following morning just to check on her and the other members, as the leader of the group Jamie had always took on a motherly/big sister type of role; often caring for them, making sure they were on time for work and encouraging them when they were going through difficult times. However her thoughts were brought back to Kwang as he took a chair and sat in front of her.
“All of your apartments were set on fire today.” He started and Jamie’s eyes widened as her other hand moved to lay flat on her stomach while the other remained by her chest as a million questions started to flood her mind. “Your pets and family members are safe, but... the terrorist left their playing card. They didn’t target your family homes, but they targeted you guys’ private homes saying it’s not about your family. We… think… they’re after one or all of you guys for some reason.” He said.
“I...” Jamie started saying before pausing to close her eyes briefly as she shook her head. “I don’t get it...” she said softly before looking back at him, “Kwang we are musicians, we- why would a terrorist group target us?? It’s... crazy.” She said running a hand through her hair, “ we’re not politicians... we-I... I mean there had been threads before of haters or crazy fans in the past but those had been investigated and deal with. A terrorist group... this doesn’t make any sense... though I guess they don’t need much of a motive to target someone.” She said, sighing heavily. “Should we go home? Should we cancel all group activities? Should we go into hiding?” She asked, as she began to wonder what the best and safest move was. Before her thoughts immediately went to her own family, she knew her parents wanted to be with her in this time but she didn’t want them around her in case something happened.
“My parents wanted to come I need to call them, I don’t want them here... what if something happens...” she said looking at him as the weight of the truth finally sinked in, there was no question or confusion anymore; Jamie and the other three members were in real danger, someone was trying to hurt them, even kill them to make some sort of point or statement and so then, for the first time since she was twelve years old, Jamie began to lose all sense of safety.

kwangjungmoonau:
Light conversations in the car were supposed to lighten the gravity of the news that was to come. Kwang knew how to deliver bad news better than most people. He often was the one to have to face angry families when their children didn’t come home. He knew how to let people know it wasn’t their fault, and he knew how to take their anger without assuming the responsibility for their anger. He knew exactly how he wanted Jamie to hear the news, so she would get the chance to grieve just like everyone else without a million eyes on her asking her to perform misery for them. All Kwang wanted was an hour at most to give Jamie a heads up. He hadn’t been asking for much.
Of course, as was the life of Jamie Kwon nothing went the way that Kwang planned. Sure, he could get the reporter fired (which he was), but nothing he did would save Jamie from the trauma of having a stranger drop that on her unexpectedly. There was nothing Kwang could do to make that woman pay for what she had done. At the end of the day, she’d likely tweet herself as a ‘freedom of speech’ savior and get even more attention. All he could do was make sure any news station he had worked with knew the woman didn’t respect law enforcement.
Once finally in their room, Kwang immediately began to set up the room, so that he could properly watch over Jamie while he listened to her cry. He wanted to console her, but he couldn’t console her knowing that he could be putting her life at risk. First, he dead bolted the door, then he put a piece of furniture against the door. He left only half of the curtain open so that Kwang could see through the window for any criminals. Plus, he liked to have an escape himself if need be. Once everything was secure, Kwang finally walked back towards Jamie.
“We’re not sure right now. There are a lot of people in critical care right now… officially… there are seven.” Kwang would not lie to Jamie no matter how painful it was to her. How was she to trust him when he was telling the truth if he lied to her all the time? He grabbed her from the chair and pulled her to sit on the edge of one of the beds as he hugged her. “I know it doesn’t. It might never make sense.” He admitted. “All the things terrorists do are evil inherently, and evil doesn’t always make sense. Sometimes, evil does whatever comes off the top of their head. This… this is an attempt to make you, and your fans afraid enough to give into whatever comes next. They want to scare you into submission by acting so irrational that you’ll do anything to stop them. I… I know none of that is any kind of comfort.” He admitted as he pulled her closer. “Just know… you and your friends did nothing to deserve this. You did nothing to provoke this. Nothing any of you could have ever done could have caused this, and any reporter that tries to pin any kind of responsibility on you is inhuman.”
Tumblr media
The pain exploding in Jamie’s chest made her place a hand on her chest and gripped on her own top as each cry made it harder for her to breathe. It was so unfair, so cruel, so impossibly dark that the singer couldn’t bare the thought of reality; she wanted badly to escape it, to closer her eyes and wake up somewhere else, another time perhaps when things were easier and less painful. A time where she didn’t feel such guilt for something her logical brain knew had no reason for existence, the other part of her brain though and her heart couldn’t help but feel guilty for what had happened to those people who only where there innocently and unknowingly risking their lives to watch them perform. Maybe they could’ve been more careful with security? Maybe there was a way for them to prevent this, was it possible? Was it possible that somehow one of them could’ve done or seen something to prevent the loss of those lives?
The questions that invaded her mind were slowly pushed away after Kwang moved her and wrapped his arms around her, speaking words of comfort; “This… this is an attempt to make you, and your fans afraid enough to give into whatever comes next…” He said as she continued to cry with her face buried in her hands as he held her close to his chest, Jamie’s hands moved gently from under her face and traveled to grip on the sides of his jacket as she focused on his words, trying hard to make her brain and heart understand what he was saying and finally come to terms with the fact that there was nobody else to blame to the people who planned and caused the pain. “Just know… you and your friends did nothing to deserve this. You did nothing to provoke this. Nothing any of you could have ever done could have caused this, and any reporter that tries to pin any kind of responsibility on you is inhuman.” He said, each words eased the intensity of her cries little by little until silence was all there was between them, her hands remaining holding his jacket until the emotional and physical exhaustion began to catch up with her and finally her hands gave up and gently rested on his sides as she took small and slow intakes of air to regulate her breathing that was causing her chest to move up and down erratically. The woman focused on the warmth his chest emanated, the sound of his breathing as he held her close to him still; how his heartbeat sounded like a drum that brought peace and comfort to the painful reality that was outside that hotel room.
Several moments passed before the woman slowly began to pull back, just enough to be able to wipe the tears that stained her face and finally looked up at him. Dark concerned eyes looked back at her, transporting her back to a decade before when they were just a couple of twenty-year-old whispering secrets to one another. Jamie heart began to beat a little faster as the time slowed down around her while her eyes slowly scanned his face taking in every detail; like how his jawline seemingly got sharper with the years but his eyes remained the same, there was some sadness showing through his dark orbs but that was something that he carried around since they were young. There was a small line barely starting to show across his forehead which caused her to smile a little bit as she saw what later in the future, she knew would be wrinkle, her hand moved up and her fingers gently brushed against the line as she smiled softly, “You have to worry less.” She said softly, her voice still breaking slightly because of how much she had cried just moments before. Her finger moved from his forehead tracing a path from his forehead to the side of his face and jawline, stopping for a second right at his chin.
“How does he still make me feel the same?” She wondered in her mind as she looked at him but remained silent as she felt her body wanting to move closer to him as if he was the center of the earth pulling her with his gravity. It was then when a knock on the door caused the both of them to jump slightly and pull back from each other a little more as they looked towards the door. Jamie cleared her throat slowly and placed a strand of hair behind her ear while Kwang stood up and walked towards the door to check who it was before she stood up as well and folded her arms over her torso while she glanced towards the door as the man opening only to reveal his Interpol partner wanting to talk to him about something. The singer then sat back down and removed her boots before standing up again to grab the bag her assistant gave her back at the police station to pull out the change of clean clothes to prepare to take a shower. “I’m going to go ahead and shower, while… you two talk.” She said softly smiling gently at the woman before looking quickly at Kwang then grabbed her clothes and headed towards the bathroom, closing the door behind her and placing her clothes on a table near the shower and began to take off her concert outfit. After showering, Jamie came out of the bathroom wearing black sweatpants glancing around for a quick second until she spotted Kwang as she walked towards her bag to put her clothes inside the bag before grabbing a hairbrush to untangle her hair.
“Is everything okay? Anything came up?” She asked softly as she turned to look at him with concerned eyes, thinking perhaps his partner had found something new.
