The Ruler Reactions

Gay people on national television! This one’s really long. If you read any one thing off this post let it be my analysis of Nath’s bedroom layout. Should I post that on its own, too?

Did they retcon his family to be ginger I’m confused. Oh wait no, I think the dad is, but the mom has brown hair? Curse the way they shade brown hair with orange highlights; it’s confusing, and it doesn’t help that Nath’s hair color right now looks more like his dad’s natural hair than his mom’s.

Nath’s miraculous is like a 〰️ shape

The dad, who I guess doesn’t have a name yet (?), is giving me basic businessman energy based on his outfit. He has a kind of douchey looking suit and aviator sunglasses

Dude their house is MASSIVE where do they even live?!?!? Is this one of those mansions that’s really far from central Paris? Like holy shit it’s huge and in one of the most expensive locations in the world, too. Is Shirel such a famous and successful architect that she’s that rich, or does the dad maybe have a very high-paying job?

Ew so the dad is one of those “I’m fine with gay people, but not everything has to be gay/ I’m okay with the distant, abstract concept of LGBTQ, but I don’t like to actually see it existing openly irl and deny it could apply to the people close to me” people

Local man prefers nonsensical, out-of-character het ship over well-developed and textually intentional same-sex relationship, hundred dead, thousands injured

LMAO Marc has the same exact haircut as his mom. How did two boho hipster special brownie recipe Fleetwood Mac vinyl collection parents have such a Hot Topic son? Must be adopted

^ wait actually unironically might he be? I’m taking a closer look, and usually, they give the characters obviously similar features to their parents. His mom might have green eyes, and her mouth and chin shape look like him as well as maybe the ears, and obv they have the same hair texture. I don’t really see anything in common with the dad, though, and neither of their noses look like Marc’s, plus his skin tone is different from both of them and they have thinner eyebrows than him. We don’t know what color the dad’s hair used to be, but Marc clearly didn’t get it from his mom. It could be that the mom is his bio mom, but the dad is a stepdad?

The mom has a skirt with sun patterns and rainbow earrings. Nice to see her supporting her son’s character design motifs. How much do you wanna bet they all have pun names based on the sky like Sol(omon) or Sunny or Luna or Stella? Im putting all my money down, just look at the (a)Couffaines. I’m sure we’ll get more about them in another episode

Marc and Nathaniel’s moms would look like Ms Frizzle if they fused together

Marinette reminds me of that one Chris Fleming Gayle skit about cleaning the house. “get rid of the couch. We can’t let people know we sit!”

Okay so Diane is literally Nagito Komaeda I see how it is. Write this down for your Danganronpa AUs guys, she’s the ultimate lucky student. Sometimes I think about the early concept where the school they all go to is for elite and talented students… like girl that’s Danganronpa school. And that’s why all the kids are exceptionally good at at least one thing. Diane probably would’ve gotten accepted through some sort of lottery scholarship let’s be real. Side note, I saw the English dub gave her a South African accent which is so cute! They’ve been going off with foreign accents this season in all these different dubs

So Marc really does have makeup on just one eye huh. Idk how I feel about that I mean it’s unique and the lightning bolt is kinda cool. I think I would’ve put the makeup and earring on opposite sides because it feels a bit unbalanced.

To clarify, when she said that ^ I’m pretty sure it meant like the story represents the experiences of all queer people who read it and see themselves in it

Marc’s schoolbag has a tie-dye rainbow flap and the strap is studded like his belt. Nath’s is paint-splattered, and the flap has a comic book POW sunburst with a half-tone pattern and a graffiti tag. Gone are the days of everyone having bags that were the same assets, just randomly recolored in different pastel shades.

Genuinely what is Nathaniel doing all day to get paint splatters all over his overalls, shoes, and bag? That’s one character design trope i do not enjoy because it’s so quirky Pinterest art hoe manic pixie dream girl, and it doesn’t even make sense because he’s almost always shown using pen and pencil, markers, and digital media. Show him painting more murals or something to justify this. Or give him a yellow Kanken, a huge reusable water bottle, and a phone case with a famous Impressionist painting on it idk.

^ also knowing how rich his family is now, the whole messy-on-purpose aesthetic is giving Coachella attendee idk like trust fund baby cosplaying as a Home Depot employee. Does this make any sense

Seeing Ziggy participating in all this and Nath asking for her opinion makes it even weirder that Ivan wasn’t talking to Stompp last time. See, Nath and Sabrina are making the most out of their free dogs.

The big nostrils they gave her are kind of distracting, though, and I feel like they make her less cute? If I were to draw a goat from memory I wouldn’t give it particularly large nostrils

He has the Adrienette fairytale AU art above his desk. “Oh Mariknight, we’re really in it now”

More epic art! This is still Avril Circus, right? I guess they really got into the romantasy genre

So obv the knights represent them, but I’m thinking are the helmets supposed to be like fur and feather themed to nod towards their hero designs? Is that a stretch?

“He’d rather lose his powers than his partner” that’s the line of the day right there ^ we are so coming back to that later as it shows how different Marc and Nath as well as Alya and Nino’s priorities are than Marinette’s

“They can’t lose their powers, it’s not fair” oh this is so foreshadowing. It also reminds me of the overarching idea that as a miraculous holder you can kind of just do whatever you want, and that you can create a third outcome instead of choosing between two bad things

Really interesting how Nath’s room is so huge, but only the tiny, hidden-away corner of his desk is decorated or representative of his personality in any way. The rest of the room is neutral and boring like it’s from a real estate catalogue, and is clearly in his mom’s style rather than his own. That shows how controlling she is and how even in his own bedroom the space represents what she wants without considering him. There’s even an abstract painting with harsh black smears and a bunch of eyes on it? It’s like his parents put that up to make him feel like he’s constantly being observed or scrutinized by them even when they aren’t physically there, which follows him away from home as well. Creepy af and reminds me of that one psychology thing where putting up posters of eyes is supposed to deter people from stealing. He has to shove his true self into one little corner as far from the door’s line of sight as possible where he can block what he’s doing with his back.

And this whole ��true self vs my parents want me to be a certain way” thing is put in the context of homophobia in this episode, but I think it goes deeper than that. His sexuality and career plan are just two examples in what’s likely a constant stream of “hey you’re not existing correctly please fix that”

When Gabriel Agreste in s4 came out I made a post about the juxtaposed shots of Adrien and Marinette’s scenes with how Adrien’s house is oppressively empty and colorless while Marinette’s bedroom and visit to the art room were colorful, crowded, and filled with details full of personality and warmth. They’re doing it again with Marc and Nathaniel’s houses as a parallel to Marinette and Adrien, and showing us the Mariknight art from that episode solidifies the callback. Even then, despite the rest of the house being cold af, Adrien got to have a bunch of colorful games, music, and a TV in his bedroom even though he didn’t really choose which enrichment got thrown into his enclosure. As far as I can tell, Nathaniel just has art supplies. How is Shirel worse than Gabriel in this regard the bar is in hell

Nath rewrote the ending and Marc liked it better hm. He’s also taking poetry class. Before, Nath said he was bad at writing, but it seems like he’s improving. I wonder if they’re moving in the direction of him making solo comics later on. Not saying he and Marc are gonna stop working together or anything, but Nath wants to do this for a living and we don’t have any indication of what Marc wants to do yet, so there’s a chance comics might be a hobby project for him in the future. By which I mean when they’re adults, not like, later this season.

Marc has broken the fourth wall a couple times, he knows he has enough plot armor to jump a supervillain without transforming and not get seriously injured

Transformation! His design eats so hard I’m obsessed, and he’s skipping around like a baby goat. The spiky parts of his hair on the sides kind of look like floppy goat ears and the back of his jacket ends in a little white triangle hanging out that looks like a tail :)

How was he doing all that in that tiny closet? *onlooker sees the closet rattling violently and the legs of a poorly made 3D model clipping in and out of it* and yeah yeah he’s done hiding busting out of the literal closet yeah

I do appreciate a teen coming out story where the character is fully aware of their sexuality beforehand btw. None of that “b-but we’re both boys 🥺” trope just a guy who is openly bi and dating a boy at school but has to hide it at home

Ok this is so nit picky but I do wish they did something to suggest he is bisexual in this episode. Totally understandable to focus on mlm relationships, but I see what I imagine are young kids on the insta side of the fandom get confused about season 1 and assume he “became” gay, or I guess had massive comp-het idk. They might be reinforcing that idea here. I hope there’s something later on at least, like that time Rose joked about kissing both Mari and Adrien.

Also are they… just regular art supplies he’s using or are they real weapons that look like art supplies because his power can’t make magical objects. This is the part of the episode where the hero explains what’s going on between them and the villain very explicitly in case you didn’t get it yet

Phew good thing mind control victims will respond to anyone’s orders

“Adrien is gonna have a villain arc” well it just happened and it’s that he turned into an Axe body spray boy

Oh what the fuck why is Lila calling out Nathaniel by full government name that’s creepy. Is she onto him for potentially being a superhero? Tbf he did transform twice in front of huge windows. And he stuck to the artist shtick a little too hard. If she suspects him then she’s not entirely sure yet? To expand on stuff from earlier, in Daddycop, she tried to akumatize Sabrina after she ran away crying, but didn’t do the same to Nathaniel even though he was arguably more upset. In El Toro de Piedra, there was a suspicious figure stalking Ivan, but I didn’t notice anyone like that here. In both those episodes, she didn’t say anything specific about Sabrina nor Ivan, so what’s going on in this one? Perhaps she was watching him in the scene where he went to destroy the prints?

Another episode where the shitty parents become niceys at the end. Please don’t let them magically be perfect form now on nor Raul nor Emile, let them suck a little but try to be nicer

Ah so the rewritten ending is that the sun and rain knights don’t lose their powers, but combine to create a new power of rainbow? Also mlm on screen kiss but it’s not between real characters. Fair enough, I don’t think this is an appropriate time for a marcnath kiss

There’s something to be said about how wlw relationships are seen as less threatening than mlm in media like girls kissing can be brushed off as cutesy but boys kissing is seen as a weird kink thing, like how the dad was saying mlm romance isn’t deep and sentimental unlike straight romance. In TV-Y7 cartoons in general there have been a good handful of iconic canon wlw moments, but I can’t think of any mlm equivalents other than minor side characters that barely do anything or like, older men who are also background characters and have no romantic subplot because they’re long time partners. In this show they’ve created an in-universe justification for why Marc and Nath are less open about their relationship, but they still continue to be censored far more heavily than Julerose, Zoe, or Caline and Giselle.

YOOO Marc’s disguised miraculous has a cutout design in it like the one in a calligraphy pen that’s cool

REVEAL Nath was gonna be bisexual but not eat hot chip nor lie. This will soooo come back later. When Nino did it, it didn’t exactly have humongous consequences? I mean kind of but not in any way that endangered him nor Alya. That’s what I was saying earlier that Nino and Nath value their relationships more than being a hero. The trouble here is that Lila is being really ominous about Nath, he has a track record of impulsively doing bad things, and he’s recklessly transformed a couple times in this ep alone, so this is… concerning but also cute? And since the comic represents them, instead of giving up their powers after a reveal they’re gonna combine them and make them stronger?

People have been saying there’s gonna be a Myvan one too because of the intro and yeah I agree. Probably even more, like I can’t imagine Luka and Juleka can hide it for long. Marinette will realize that nobody thinks lying to their friends and partners is sustainable. She values being a hero over her relationship because she feels responsible for everything. Like she can’t just quit her job and get replaced at this point, she needs to protect the whole city/world and to her, that’s bigger than her personal life.

Interesting that they’re obscuring Marc’s transformation. Does that suggest his episode is after this? It’s not like it’s a spoiler, we already know what he looks like. Dramatic effect ig. Marc was generally very mature throughout this ep tho, and he jumped into the fight to protect Nath, so idk maybe it came first

Lila already knows who most of the heroes are, but not them. There’s a good chance she will find out and use it against them in the endgame. She does know about Alya and Nino. I predicted after Daddycop that Sabrina might fly under her radar the longest and be key in tricking her a second time.

Important edit: I just noticed the spiderverse-esque comic book effects in his transformation sequence, that’s actually sick. It’s so blink and you’ll miss it and by god I missed it the first time. Nathaniel Kuntzerve or whatever his name is. The goat, like literally

Unimportant edit: it finally hit me who Nath’s dad reminded me of and why he felt so familiar. It’s goddamn Tighten from Megamind. “There is no audience for your comic book, there is no tooth fairy, and there is no Queen of England”.

Fankids Character Charts [1/3]

The kids!! The first 7 out of all the kids getting charts!!! They're going to be divided in three groups because they're too many kiddos now lol.

More detailed info under the cut!

Emmie: Sonadow kid, the one who got my fankid train started! Also, the first Tube Baby! (Here's three posts about it: One, two, three).

Her full name is Emily (meaning "rival"), however, everyone just calls her Emmie (out of universe explanation + in universe explanation).

She has Black Arms DNA, but it's uncertain the lenghts it's effects have on her. They know she had green blood (first shown here) and has access to the Hivemind, which as a baby she used to communicate with Shadow (first shown here), but as she grew older she stopped using it, and now finds it harder to access it.

She, of course, also has Chaos Energy. She has super speed and can perform Chaos Control (here) and turn Super (first shown here), but her super form is highly unstable and quickly becomes similar to Sonic's "Super Fleetway" form (here).

Emmie uses her trusty yoyo to fight (here), complementing her powers and ability in a way to extend the reach of her attacks, rope in her enemies, etc.

Sparks: The oldest of my Blazamy kids, and first Belly Baby in the lineup (here's context).

Sparks has fire powers, similar to Blaze's, though they find them a bit harder to control. They get Blaze, Knuckles and Espio's help to learn to use said powers, since they require a lot of training. Also, again, quite like Blaze, they can turn into Burning Sparks (here), but this form drains their energy pretty fast.

Since Blaze is a princess, Amy, Sparks and Tulip do acquire royalty related tiltes, however, they're very informal and don't hold that much power due to Blaze not wanting them to have any responsability simply because they're related to her. Despite this, Sparks does end up becoming ruler of the Sol Dimension later in the timeline, but by their own volution.

They use a fire sword to fight (here). It would be a simple sword, but they infuse it with their powers for it to become this flaming version of the weapon.

Lash: The oldest of my Scourgiona kids and your local surprise baby representation.

Her main ability is acrobatics, and she has some sort of super speed but it's quite weak compared to Emmie's.

She has both mommy and daddy issues, and spends most of her time at Aim's house, although she grew up with Mareep, Glamour and Stumble. She has two older siblings, and at first she didn't have much of a relationship with them, since they're younger than her and much closer to each other, but eventually Lash steps in and tries to be a part of her siblings' life like their parents should've been.

She starts as more of a "villain", taking the role of your local mean girl next to Mareep and the others, and has a bit of friction with the rest of the kids, but as she starts hanging out more with Aim and Spades, she begins to let that attitude go and tries to be better, eventually joining the Restoration.

Aim: Whispangle kid, selectively mute, and a Belly Baby.

He does archery, which is their main fighting technique, however, during battle, they also use their tail to move around faster and will occasionally team up with Whisper's wisps.

He does not speak, at all, but the others just seem to understand him without him even needing sign language or anything. Also finally giving it a name rather than just saying 'he doesn't speak', they're selectively mute! So yay for it finally having a name!

Bria: Sonina (Sonia x Mina) Belly Baby! Making them Emmie's younger cousin.

They don't fight much, rather serving to give hope and high spirits to those around her! But of course, living in the universe they live in, they know martial arts just in case it's needed, and as self defense.

Even though Bria's hard of hearing, his biggest passion is music. She plays piano and guitar, piano being his main instrument.

Tulip: The youngest of my Blazamy siblings, also a Belly Baby (in universe explanation here).

He hasn't shown any special ability yet, which is something that bothers him. Because of this, he isn't allowed to be around the other kids when there's danger, but he's very sneaky and often gets things to work in his favor anyway (in some strange way, he always knows what to do to get what's best for his interests, hm...)

He has an interest in tarot cards, like Amy, and in these sorts of magic related topics.

Destiny: One and only Code Baby! And Sallicole kid. She's an AI similar to Nicole, but with more advanced and sophisticated technology.

Being an AI, she can easily hack into robots and computers, which helps during battle.

They usually take the leader role very naturally, immediately making a plan on the spot and guiding the rest of the group thanks to her rational thinking nature. However, she's quite shy which makes things a bit difficult for her, her confident side mainly showing when assuming the role of the leader, or when fighting for things they're passionate about.

Destiny is president and leader or a smaller section of the Restoration, which is the training and formation for teenagers. This is where she shines her brightest, leading this group on missions and making their plans of action, as well as organizing their training schedule.

thinking about how different things would have been if Viren had actually used Sorens heart for the spell in the Sol Regem attack.

Fist we have Soren. How did he convince his father to do it? Maybe he let Viren do it, gripping his father’s arm to steady him, accepting his fate. But if he couldn’t convince his father to do it? Maybe he did it himself; raising his own sword, looking Viren in the eye, and making the choice for him. What were his last words? Were they convincing his father to do it, ‘you have to, do whats right for once in your life’ Or maybe he didn’t say anything at all. Maybe he just smiled, making sure the last thing his father saw was that Soren didn’t hate him for it. Did he spend the last seconds of his life thinking about his loved ones he was leaving behind? He thinks of everyone as he draws his sword, thinking of them happy and safe, concentrating on that for strength. As he feels the blade pierce his skin he thinks of everyone hes leaving behind, everything hes loosing, but he knows he wouldn’t have it any other way. He’s happy that his friend’s family will be ok, even if it means they have to be ok without him.

Then we have Viren, obviously him sacrificing himself was character development and i personally really like that he truly became a better person, not forgivable, but better and we saw this by him sacrificing himself and no one even ever finding out. In canon, Viren’s sacrifice was almost poetic; redemption in the shadows, something no one would ever know. Now that thats out of the way, how would using Sorens heart affect Viren? Did he have any last words to Soren? “I… I never wanted this.” or “You were always so much stronger than I realized.” or maybe he says nothing; maybe he can’t speak because his own son is dying in his arms. How did he take Sorens heart? By using his own sons sword? Soren draws his sword silently either shoving it into Virens arms or taking care of it himself. Did he take his own life as well after the spell was completed? Maybe. If not immediately, then eventually. A man like Viren, who was so focused on taking care of his family he destroyed them, wouldn’t be able to bear the weight of that decision forever. If he lives, even for a short time after all of this, he finally understands the price of power. Maybe he just walks away, a broken man, carrying the weight of what he did.

and last we have how everyone else reacted.

Claudia: Maybe she never finds out the truth, Aaravos hides it from her, or forms some kind of twisted lie. Maybe she’s told by Aaravos that Soren died fighting Sol Regem. Shes absolutely shattered. Losing Soren alone would be devastating, but if she knew Viren was responsible? That could go one of two ways: She completely turns on Viren, no longer seeing him as her family. or, the more likely one. She convinces herself it was necessary and doubles down on dark magic, becoming even more ruthless. Trying to make Sorens sacrifice ‘mean’ something.

Corvus: He isn’t the kind of man to cry easily, but he would for Soren. Not just a quiet cry, an absolute gut wrenching cry. People have to physically check if hes breathing ok, his cry is so painful. Because Soren wasn’t just another fallen soldier: he was a friend, his closest friend, someone who deserved so much more than what he got. And I think, more than anything, Corvus would make sure Soren was remembered. Not as Viren’s son, not as the ‘musclehead’ of Katolis, but as the man who was brave, kind, and ultimately, a hero.

Ezran: he would probably grieve the loss in his own quiet way, after a huge breakdown, but I imagine this would harden him as a ruler. He stops letting people be closer to him. Not only was Soren his friend, and trusted guard, but he was Ezrens older brother.

Callum: Soren was one of his closest friends. Callum would be furious at Viren, probably even at Claudia if she defended him. Callum probably feels like he could have saved him. He wishes he could have been there to stop Viren, to convince Soren there was another way. Hell, maybe even sacrifice himself, using his magic to combat the dragon before the battle ever starts.

Rayla: He was a idiot, but he was her idiot. She suspects something’s off. When she finds out the truth, she would hate Viren in a way she never had before. She would spend forever tracking him down, and making sure he is dead, never stopping until she has confirmation. Viren took another family member from her. He took her older brother, she won’t rest until she knows hes gone. A part of her would convince herself that she hated Soren himself, once she knew it was his decision. How could he leave them? how could he choose this? but of course she can never hate him, he had a kind heart and sacrificed himself to save so many lives. Rayla just wishes she could save his life.

i think part of the reason why there’s such a big mischaracterization and flanderization problem in the fandom is because of the overlap between the loreheads and the fgc.

let me explain. slander is part of the fgc. pushing an agenda with to defend your main is part of the fgc. my main is lowtier and honest and your main is hightier and no skill. to the common player a character’s lore is nothing but tidbits of information that can be used for slander. so we’re incentivized to pick up the most out of context and unflattering lore to make your look bad.

it gave us these mainstains such as:

“ky fucked a 3 year old”

“sol gorilla”

“baiken players play one handed”

“johnny chaser” etc etc. these aren’t the worse of it

they’ve no interest in examining their mains as characters within the story which is fine. they’re playing the game.

the problem arises when players that do care about the lore and sees their mains as characters within a story take this slander sincerely. taking the agenda as law. or worse, take it as an accurate reflection of the character. so now the character is completely mischaracterizated by the fandom and the agenda has won because we love repeating the same 3 jokes.

it is pathetically easy to spread misinfo about guilty gear characters. lorewise and gameplay because everyone just believes everything. at least with gameplay info you know you’re being fucked with.

what i mean to say is, when unika drops prepare yourselves for the inevitable, “unika chaser,” and “racist future trunks,” and “may cuck chair” strays if she is cracked. or worse even more bridget slander relating to the ambiguity of unika’s age. because the last 12 years and counting of “ky fucked a 3 year old” jokes were hilarious.

tldr: the fgc is painfully unfunny

This is the most I’ve dared venture into this community and from what I hear the tumblr side is the least extreme.

Greetings. Amy and Cream persuaded me to create this 'blog'. Usually, I would not be so easily convinced to do something as frivolous as this, but... it sounds interesting.

I am Blaze, the current princess of the Sol Empire.

You may refer to me using she/they pronouns.

I live in the Sol Dimension. My empire is the largest kingdom on my planet, and I am its main ruler.

I am the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, which are similar to the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic's dimension.

Dual Rulers Episode 7

”The World is Full of Fighting” Spoilers (At least I’m not writing fake Episodes, kek)

(Props to Tomokazu Sugita for shouting his heart out as Narrator)

Last time, we saw a black sky of Tentacles raining Gear Imps of Death to the land below. All created by Nerville Hammer of the Future!

Sin checks in on a recovering Unika, while the rest of the team assess the dire situation.

Baiken suggests they need to find the source of all these creatures.

Johnny’s not sure if they have the means to make it to the sky with these numbers.

Jack-O’ points out a Multi-dimensional Distortion Barrier, which appears to be blocking any access from aerial approaches.

The black army is growing, but even with state issued Sorcerers they might not have enough.

Leo suggests using the War Relic, but Vernon says it’ll take time to switch targets.

Having heard all this, two Daughters of a Merciless Apocalypse make a critical decision.

Even if their movements are tied, there is still things they can do!

Calvados, a Powerful Twin Rail Cannon, and Travalier “Love” Cannons combine in a powerful energy ray that might actually rival the +40 output Gamma Ray that once fired in 2074!

The Valentines have given their all to the cause!

The ray pierces through legions of imps, striking the barrier directly.

The blast alone has caused the dark tentacles to retreat somewhat, buying everyone more time.

Sin recognizes Ramlethal and Elphelt’s handiwork, even from long distance as they collapse from exhaustion.

An orchestrated long range shot from Illyria to the skies of America… it could have destroyed the continent, but this shot instead has saved lives!

Reinforcements join the fight as the team begins to regroup.

President Vernon looks quietly at the heroes that are now fighting for the world’s fate. Not just Humans, but Gears as well.

It seems the black mass came from a temporal rift, so it’s only a matter of time before a second invasion.

Any damage the mass took is only being regenerated, in less than 10 hours by Jack-O’s estimate.

And of course we’re once again reminded of Jack-O’s Superhuman ability to process information.

Leo reports on the recovery efforts, but it’s slow going with the remaining enemies on ground.

Vernon requests Jack-O’ assist with analysis and mission planning, which she complies.

Meanwhile in a nearby room, Unika is coming to grips with the recent revelations of her existence.

Bridget speaks to Vernon on her behalf, vouching for her character.

Bridget also offers to help as well.

At the same time, Paradigm is grumbling to himself, a seemingly common thing for an old dragon. He’s thanked by Vernon for his assistance, but he replies this threat isn’t limited to one species anymore.

Jack-O’ finished her analysis, and it seems the rift (and the thing inside it) are growing. Not good news.

About the size of a small moon… and way too big a problem!

They’ll have to seriously coordinate to reach the core of this thing to destroy it.

The plan is to use the War Relic (Magic Energy Satellite) , but it currently doesn’t have enough energy reserves (sounds like an Evangelion reference if you ask ME).

And just as I suggested it, they ask nations around the world to donate Magic power to the Satellite, as lights go out across major cities, and power cells get shipped along a “familiar” railway.

Ishiwatari just LOVES Neon Genesis Evangelion, doesn’t he!?

It’s still visually impressive the scale of how fast they respond to donating to the crisis effort.

Sin is working his butt off, but Sol reminds him to take a break, and to talk to Unika (his sister).

Vernon watches as Sin runs past him in the hallway, a boy carrying fate on his shoulders.

Sin was expecting Unika’s room to be locked, but it was open.

Sin reminds Unika, that she isn’t alone, and doesn’t have to carry everything herself. And that she isn’t the same as she once was.

Unika is still not ready to hear Sin’s words, so he takes his leave.

Elsewhere Bridget is helping move supplies, but is suddenly ambushed by a stray Gear Imp!

It strikes, and Bridget just barely manages to dodge to bring out a Yo-Yo Weapon!

Any attacks are easily dodged, however, and countered, sending Bridget flying!

It strikes again, Bridget barely dodges once more.

This time, the Yo-Yo lands, but there’s no damage.

Cornered, Bridget has no means of escape…

Moments later, Unika overhears Medics wheeling Bridget away on a stretcher, wounded and in critical condition.

Unika calls out, in shock and desperation.

A casualty of war.

Many might think War has nothing to do with them, until it hurts someone they care about. Back to Back, Death comes riding on a Midnight train… consciousness slipping to an End.

The realization and weight hits Unika with urgency, and she propels herself to the sky, beyond Sin’s confused calls.

To buy more time, Unika spreads her Azure Wings, to become a Living Magic Amplifier.

Like the OutRage Sol once built, designed to amplify Magic Energy and focus it… a hidden connection between Magic Particle Theory and Gears (a connection inherited from Dizzy).

Unika’s power can further increase the output of the Satellite!

In theory, it will pierce the distortion barrier and Unika won’t be harmed, or so it remains to be seen.

Unika determines there is no other way, thinking on Bridget’s sacrifice.

Unika’s wings spread further as Vernon initiates the firing sequence.

As if her very Magic coalesced in to some kind of subwoofer amp, Unika accepts the world’s energy and converts it.

It is all she can muster, but she directs the energy in to her long rifle.

Like a Twin Buster Rifle, with Black Lightning (like Sin’s Indra), she fires, a shot far worse than any Black Gamma Ray!

The beam erases the tentacles and imps to atoms, and the barrier is breached!

Unika falls, but the dark tentacles catch her, and drag her inside the rift!

Sin calls to Unika, but the rift has already begun to close.

Jack-O’ begins to blame herself, but Paradigm gruffly corrects her, reminding her she’s not a god.

In that extreme situation, they ALL did the best they could.

Sin looks at the skies with worry for Unika, as Sol reminds him she’s his sister, and toughness runs in the family!

Sol, for once, has faith.

Sin asks if they can use the Electromagnetic Pulse Radar to find Unika again.

As fleets gather, Jack-O’ says she’s joining the strike team, to help bring this war to a conclusion.

Gullenkambi Dark: Johnny’s prized airship, once again set to face the fate of the world. The strike team will board it, with Johnny as the pilot, of course!

This time, even Elphelt and Ramlethal are joining the team! A welcome sight. Baiken as well.

Sol has just finished customizing a bullet with Nerville’s Gear Virus. With any luck, it’ll affect him too, as a Gear-variant.

If they can hit the core, that is.

Sin, catching Sol off guard, asks to carry a bullet himself… to bear some of the weight (of killing Gears).

The look in Sin’s eye is dead serious. He’s grown a lot.

As the ships finally reach the edge of the tentacle-filled rift, they begin their opening assault, as imps begin to swarm in the billions.

The tentacles begin to strike at cities, the damage and destruction incalculable.

Soldiers open fire on the imp invaders, civilians flee in fear, legions destroy key Magic relay points. It’s uncertain if the War Relic can even fire again.

At this rate, all life, including Gears, will be annihilated.

The realization hits Sin hard, and he comes to a decision.

He finally understands, and says his mother would do the same.

Soldiers are unable to hold back the invaders with their guns alone, but just as they’re about to be overwhelmed… a massive fist clears the area.

A Gear, with orders to protect them, has arrived.

Sin, now a proper Gear Commander, gives orders across the globe, for Gears to help fight back and protect their world.

All the Gears, dormant for hundreds of years, sealed, unsealed, or otherwise, are given the order to defend the world.

Gears and Humans, fighting alongside one another, with equal purpose.

The world’s Magic energy reserves converges on the War Relic.

The Energy Satellite fires once more, a true LAST RESORT!

The beam once again slices open the rift and distortion barrier, as the Gullenkambi Dark shoots through the gaps in the void.

And what they all see? A face.

A dark twisted amalgamation of Nerville Hammer’s will and ego.

They’ve found their target.

Elphelt and Ramlethal now display their full potential as Valentines.

With Godlike speed, Ramlethal cuts through the darkness, as Elphelt rains her own “Judgement” of fire down! Legions upon Legions are cut apart or blasted to Dust.

Even Johnny can see that looks painful!

Jack-O’ calls out all her servants: Lancers, Magicians, and Knights alike, her own army… and they begin their assault.

Like Kliff Undersn before her, Baiken rebounds on a chain of Magic Tatami Gaeshi, using them as platforms to gain height for a powerful club strike.

Sol’s signature Reversal needn’t be said here, but, I will, anyway!

VOLCANIC VIPER!

Despite cutting a thick tentacle in half with his OutRage, Sol gets sent flying in to floating nearby debris, by another dark limb.

Unfazed, Sol kicks another imp out of his way with a RIOT STAMP!

Baiken and Sin both cut off more “nosehairs”, while Jack-O’ brings out the full power of her “Organ”.

Sin reels back, as Black Lightning gathers in his arm and flag, as legions try to mob him… an RTL Burst.

Tentacles grab him tightly to subdue, but a pair of Chainscythes cuts them to bits!

This time with a weapon in hand, Axl Low warmly greets Sin, confirming that his presence in the battle means the Timeline has ALREADY changed!

Tentacles try to grab Axl, but he nimbly dodges, and bolts away, vanishing in to light.

Johnny hits the thrusters, edging towards the core.

Ramlethal fires Calvados once more, clearing the path, slicing everything like an energy blade! Animo Estingi.

Elphelt fires with her own volley, destroying remnants that were missed.

Pervy tentacles try to grab Elphelt, but in the nick of time, Johnny saves her!

No point in sitting behind the steering wheel anymore!

Every one begins a massive coordinated attack, one after another.

Starting with Sin, they all begin to gather their Magic Energy (Ki) against the Core.

The effort is almost overwhelming, pushing Gear and Human alike to their ultimate limits.

A Ray of Hope pierces the Darkness.

From Illyria, High King Ky Kiske and Queen Dizzy have sent their Magic, using the Central Organ Tower of Illyria Castle to direct their own “Lightning”.

Ky in full Dragon Install, Dizzy with all her power, proud as parents of their son, bonded by hearts no matter the distance, connected as one…

Sin takes his parents’ love, and directs it as power…

As if to pierce a moon, Sol throws Sin his flag… and Sin charges in to the abyss…

. . . . .

I kept thinking about how this Episode alone will be such a tough act to follow.

Guilty Gear isn’t even finished yet, not by a long shot!

So many side characters, so many possibilities with the roster, and the game…

I don’t know if anyone who hasn’t played Guilty Gear for as long as I have will ever understand the true scope and gravitas of this anime, or even the implications and nuances… I want to believe someone somewhere will see it all…

And that it will finally “click” for them.

It isn’t just about a fighting game, or music… it’s about people taking the steps necessary to understand one another, despite so many differences. To overcome life’s challenges and see equals.

The people who argued with me, the people who block others on social media, because they aren’t compatible, or they don’t have it in them yet to fully understand other people. Or just to keep the conversation going despite disagreement.

I really hope someday that everyone will see this series, and come to at least some “level” of understanding.

It doesn’t have to be unity, or perfection, but just a glimpse in to everyone’s unique worlds and struggles, and maybe a helping hand.

The world may be full of Fighting, but we are all Comrades in Arms, on a single planet, in a single galaxy, that may see wider stars and worlds one day.

KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE. KEEP THE FLAG FLYING!

The vote was roughly six to two (don't ask about the math; it's complicated), so I'll be telling what Sonic's various roles are throughout the AUs. I'll be starting with Sonic since he's the easiest. Every AU's axis point is who Sonic switches with, so I know them all. This should be fun

Format:

AU Name (I’ve really gotta name the AUs; if anyone has ideas, lmk) - Role - Description

Liberation - Shadow - In this AU, Aleena united all the tribes on Mobius to form a centralized kingdom. One of the ways she did this was by using her scepter to take her people's chaos energy. With the energy, she made chimeras, fought alien invaders, and kept the peace. She continued doing this well into her pregnancy where she was prophesized to have twins. Imagine everyone's surprise when a third child was born. Her excess use of chaos energy created a conduit of chaos energy inside of her. Unfortunately, Aleena had to send her children away because of a prophecy. Sonia and Manic went to high society and the slums, respectively, but the third child (unnamed) was cast out into space in an asteroid. This asteroid released a sound frequency that Earth's military outpost in space, the ARK, discovered. They brought the asteroid on the ARK as Project Sonic. Tails was already there as Project Tails, so Sonic and Tails became like brothers, and they were Earth's protectors. They also grew close with Commander Abraham Tower (to the point of considering Abraham a father figure). I would explain it further, but I have an entire story where I've delved into L!Sonic's past, so check that out!

Unnamed (Sonic-Tails swap) - Tails - Sonic was born in a village of hedgehogs, but his parents died when he was young, leaving him to be an orphan. He became a ward of the village. He did odd jobs for the village until the day his speed manifested. There were mixed reactions. Many saw him as a freak of nature. Some people were outright terrified of him. The village leaders, however, thought he could be exploited. The 'odd jobs' he had before were suddenly far more dangerous. Sonic did them, however, because he liked running and helping people even if the people he was helping weren't good to him. This all stopped when Tails crashed into his life by literally crashing into him. Tails and Sonic hit it off, especially when Tails started telling Sonic about all of his adventures. They would have parted ways if Tails didn't find out about Sonic's powers. Unlike the villagers, Tails thought it was both amazing and fascinating. The reason Tails adventured so much was to test his inventions, so he wanted to make some for Sonic to test out, too. Sonic followed Tails to his base of operations, and he sort of stayed forever. Sonic frequently adventures with Tails, but he's just as content to stay at home. This Sonic leans more into freedom than he does adventure or amusement. He considers being away from his village and being able to do whatever he wants as his only goal in life. I'm also thinking of making him a scientist who focuses on the study of chaos energy.

Unnamed (Sonic-Blaze swap) - Blaze - Sonic is the crown prince of the Mobian Empire. He was raised to be a dignified and just ruler. While he does succeed for the most part, he still has a sense of wanderlust that carries him to frequently skip his lessons to go adventuring. This attracted the attention of the chaos emeralds. Instead of being their guardian like Blaze is with the Sol emeralds, Sonic is merely their beneficiary. He gets his speed from them along with his adaptability to other forms of power. When Eggman steals an important relic that fractures the dimensions, Sonic goes after him. It is here that he encounters the hero, Blaze. They do fight because (how do I phrase this? Blaze thinks Sonic is too independent. He doesn't rely on anyone. He doesn't tell the people around him when he's running away or where he's going. Unlike canon Blaze who was too responsible, Sonic is too irresponsible, but they were both naturally lonely people that didn't want to admit it). After that, they worked together to stop Eggman and fix their realities. Somehow, some way, he ends up in the future with Shadow, protecting it from someone (I haven't decided yet. Maybe Chaos? And Tikal has Chaos sealed inside her, so she's our stand-in for Elise. Don't grow attached to this; I might change it). Sonic sacrifices himself to seal away this big bad. But then the timeline gets reset, so he's back in his dimension. Blaze and Marine come to the chaos/Mobian dimension. Sonic helps them, and this is where he meets Tails. Sonic is wary of Tails because he's an inventor like Eggman, but they grow close and become like brothers

Unnamed (Sonic-Surge swap) - Surge - His past is unknown. All Sonic knows is that he's been Eggman's captive for as long as he can remember. He believes he was once a regular Mobian, but he's now become a cyborg. Parts of his body have been turned into metal. His speed either came from Eggman or its natural. All Sonic knows is that he wants to be free. Eventually, he manages to escape Eggman, but even when the inventor dies, Sonic remains haunted by visions of him. Unsure what to do, Sonic takes it upon himself to free the world. Unfortunately, he thinks this means killing the villains (or really anyone who revokes the freedom of others), which puts him at odds with the heroes, including Surge. Sonic's programming wants him to kill her, but Sonic himself actually likes Surge so he's able to suppress his violent tendencies. He does not, however, want to be her friend because he views her as an enabler of villains. They have a complicated relationship, to say the least. Sonic's least complicated relationship is with Tails. Although Sonic can't remember if he and Tails were close before Eggman, he's decided Tails is his little brother. More than killing all villains, Sonic wants to protect Tails. He wants Tails to have a better life. He does everything in his power to get Tails to live with more stable people or follow his dreams of inventing machines for others, but Tails is rather unhealthily dependent on Sonic (and technically, Sonic is, too, but he's better at hiding it/pretending he isn't). Tails will stick it out for the kill all villains plan

Unnamed (Sonic-Eggman swap) - Eggman - Sonic is just a Mobian who's living life. In this AU, Eggman never found him and he never found Tails, so he didn't get properly introduced to people until way later in his life. It was too late for nature had already taught him survival of the fittest. Sonic believed that a person should do as much as they can by themselves and for themselves. Now, there is limit. You need nature's help to live, you need clothes, small favors are usually inconsequential. As Sonic learned from people, he came to add the caveat that if you are going to help someone, never do it for free. Do it for repayment in whatever way (monetary, an IOU, etc.) He also believes very strongly in self-actualization. If a person is about to become their truest self, you cannot help them. They have to do that alone or not at all. To this end, he hates Mr. Tinker and his robots. Mr. Tinker just helps people because he wants to- because he can help. Sonic goes out of his way to destroy the robots. He doesn't kill Mr. Tinker, though, because destroying those robots and foiling Mr. Tinker's plans is so amusing to him. So, when he's older, that's when he meets Tails. Sonic accidentally saves him without meaning to, so Sonic demands Tails repay that by doing some stuff for him. Tails stuck around, however, so now he and Sonic are considered a duo. Sonic is abusive, though. He hates when Tails helps him more than he should, and he's not afraid to hit Tails over it

Later in this AU, I was thinking that Tails finally killed Sonic, and Sonic let him because he knew this was Tails self-actualizing. This, unfortunately, only killed his body, so Sonic became a spirit made of chaos energy, and he started fucking up stuff even more lmao

That's it for now. We might have a Sonic-Amy swap soon. I don't know. I'm just throwing around ideas. If you're inspired by something, go ahead. Run with it. not too long after you sent kunikuzushi that message, you see a familiar car approaching you.

you see, kunikuzushi actually has three rules that everyone (even his parents) has to follow whenever they’re going to ride his car:

one, always shake off the dirt off of your shoes before stepping in. especially if it’s raining. he absolutely loathed the idea of getting his precious car dirtied.

“just get in already. the rain might get stronger if you don’t hurry up," he says, awkwardly holding an umbrella over your head so that you won’t get wet as you get in the passenger seat. “but i thought you hated—”

“it’s fine. wiping off the raindrops is more annoying.”

two, never eat or drink anything in his car. the idea of doing so is already enough to make kunikuzushi shudder.

“here’s your drink. i didn’t actually get you coffee though, so that’s just hot chocolate.” the grande sized drink was offered. “huh? i didn’t actually expect you to actually do it, but i asked for coffee," you say, taking a sip. the hot temperature of the drink was enough to make you feel comfortable in the cold weather that the rain is causing.

“and let me guess, if i actually got you coffee, that’d be your third cup today, no?”

silence.

“thought so.”

and last but not least, three. always ask for permission if you want to play music in his car. although this one is simply common decency at this point, kunikuzushi started to get annoyed when your other friends would play music all of a sudden without notifying him first.

“here,” he says, his phone in his hand.

“what am i supposed to do with your phone?”

“play music, obviously. why else would i give it to you right now?”

oh.

“oh. okay, uhm.” it was awkward to say, at least.

this behavior or treatment from him isn’t new. but you didn’t expect to still receive it after... well, everything. scrolling through his list of liked songs on spotify, you decided to just hit shuffle. soon after, the little screen on his car says, “the way you look at me — christian bautista”.

with the calming piano tunes starting to play during the ride, the exhaustion from everything you did today started to sink in, and you eventually started to feel drowsy. choosing to close your eyes a bit, you unknowingly started to doze off.

what you weren’t aware of, though, is that the driver next to you would glance at you from time to time when the light was red. he would switch lanes as well, choosing lanes that would have just a bit of traffic just so he could admire the person next to him sleeping peacefully more.

kunikuzushi was content with this—to have you this close. the distance was enough for him to be sure that he could never love someone else after you.

meanwhile…

“huh? that’s weird. why did kuni turn right? he should’ve gone left since he was taking (name) home.” lyney says, looking at the life 360 of your friend group at the moment.

lynette just looks at his screen and proceeds to drink her tea. “leave them be, lyney. i’m sure kuni knows what he’s doing.”

"Out of Spite" The Nine Sols AU TEDtalk time. The Path of Trials, part 2

Quick reminder what this is post about: All of the Sols saved by Yi need to go trough a trial, tied to their biggest flaw or fear. Two key figures to help them on a spiritual journey is Yi himself and ShuanShuan!

Sols will redeem themselfs, but only some aspect of them change a little. This path of redemption exist not to abolish their sins to apeman or fellow solarians, no.

This is their way to clear karma to oneself, before they join the great tao... or will they?

3. Jiequan - " Trial of Agony"

Listen, guys like Jiequan...well...they can be redeemed. This is their kind of shtick. He is a sadomasachist and this needs more then help from his friends (he also doesn't have any and would NOT listen to any advise!). However, what I like to do with this type of character is giving them a chance to socialize. This is my genuine belief that giving a murderous character a friend circle they can socialize with is a way to show them that they ARE able to act differently. And they will be rewarded for it.

Yet still, Jiequan for me is not that level of bad (not Overlord mtmte level of bad). I think at this point he might learn how to interact with people normally still... i don't think he would change much. Remove his obsessive behaviour - and this is not Jiequan anymore.

Jiequan life is always about to proving a point to someone, troughtout all means nessesery. To prove that he can revive the Jie Kingdom. To prove that he is strong. To prove that you deserve your place at the palace, as the Jie heir.

In his childhood the only way to prove that you worth something is violence. Violence is the only way he resolved all of the problems. Not matter was he enduring it or doing it. It was a way to show that you are strong. That you are the leader. To make people respect you. To listen to you. To bring their attention to you.

Jiequan was a lonely kid. The weak kid. Now? He's no more.

He learnd to love violence. When he was a kid, he tried to prove that he would be а better ruler, he would guide Jie Kingdom to the former glory not only through war campains, but through other means. He endured one beating under the other, always managing to stand back. He survived the pain.

Then he embraced it.

He learnd that many of his peers don't understand the way of words. Only the way of pain. You change or you die, so is the life's rule.

And he changed. He changed all right!

He suffered only to become stronger. Every faliure, every drop of his blood and sweat is a way to become a stronger man. He suffered only to bring pain to his enemies. And enemies of his was the enemies of the Jie.

The pain teached him that he should never give up. The pain is effective way to communicate to everyone because all of the living beings understand it. Well, not like him. They don't learn from the pain, they don't understand that life is an embodiment of the agony itself. And heroes are forged in agony.

Vital interaction with Yi: Yi... Yi understands Jiequan. He feel no guilt over using apeman as a power resource. Yi is rejecting the comfort, working himself hard. He is willing to do anything that matters, if it will secure survival of their race. Jiequan liked that in men.

Yi was a living example of his philoshophy. Everyone turned blind eye to his cold cruelty, they liked the guy anyway. Not that much, yeah, but he had his trusted circle of friends and admirers. Eigong, his mentor, was proud of him. He had a loving family. Colleagues are listening to his advice.

Yet Yi was looking a him with disdain. One night they had a chance to talk about the affect of suffering on brains. It's the fisrt time Yi ever talked to him properly, listend to him. It was a good debate, almost civil, when Yi acknowledged that Jiequan has a point. Started non-stop talking about brain research and whatnot. The more Jiequan listen the more he taught that he was right all along. That severe pain makes people think clearer, show who they really are underneath this facade of a person. He wondered: How Yi looked under his coat of cold blood?

It was point of no return, because this is where his obsession with Yi started to grow big. Jiequan wanted to disect him, simultaneously make the man worse and better at the same time. Bring him pain, make him to finally understand how it would change Yi. Make Yi acknoweledge him. Understand his pain.

And when the opportunity came, after 500 years of trying to piss of Yi for good, he did exactly that. He showed Yi the way of the pain. He saw his eyes burning with hate and agony. This was THE moment of his life. Point of no return.

Yet, the result of the torture was...strange. He expected Yi to fight like a beast (and he did so!), but not to...show mercy. Yi said that he's not like Jiequan and tried to prove it. Still, they both know what he did to poor Goumang.

Yi is a cruel, selfish man. They are alike. Jiequan never stopped to prove this to Yi even after his rescue. Even after he brought little birdie to the pavilion. He even brought the Feng girl, whos only good use was being a money bag for his endless endeavours. Heck, he didn't thought that asking to say hi to old guoshi would grant him an opportunity to do that himself.

And Yi? He tried his best to prove Jiequan wrong. Being patient with him, not breaking his legs when he convinced Abacus that he can be of use. Jiequan even worked with fucking Kuafu (who was strangely happy that "such a cool guy" needs his services, ugh) to make for Yi new rhizomatic weapons. Yi thought Jiequan training with him was a ploy. Made Yi to drop his guard to stab him in a back, because by surviving the fight Jiequan "lost his honour" or some shit.

What Yi didn't like that he enjoyed beathing Jiequan to a pulp. Their trainings were bloody, messy and kind of extatic. After their spars Yi felt himself calmer, strangely calmer. Like they both quench their thirst for blood for a present moment, only to surprise each other next time.

Yi didn't catch the exact time he would offer to help to tend Jiequans wounds. The man always was going to the highest point of pavilion to lick his wounds. Saying that this' but a scratch. Still, asking was worth it. Jiequan looked at him like a scared deer on the road. He refused Yi's attemps to help, quitely bleeding in his corner. Looking like a man on the bring of the death, but strangly happy.

He didn't notice when they became closer, enjoying more quiter moments. When Jiequan tried to sooth his pain, bandage his wounds, saying that it must be hurt everytime to return from the dead, maybe he should kiss it better to...

Wait, what the-

Vital interaction with ShuanShuan: I think at first Jiequan saw ShuanShuan as a tool. A mean to get closer to Yi, his get free from jail card. He really did convince Ruyi that he can teach kid how to defend himself.

ShuanShuan was...reluctant. Their training often ended in agrument that apeman child can make people wish to not fight with him. It turned worse when Yi slipped up and said that thanks to Jiequan Yi stopped to beat bad guy's up and brought more friends (that kid obviously adored). It made Jiequan pissed but he can do nothing about it, because if something happened with little brat Yi would bring down all of the New Kunlun with him. Besides there was a little problem. When kid get hurt he started to cry and Jiequan just...starred at him. He was confused. Jiequan long forgot how is it to cry when you feel the pain. Pain of failing, pain of loosing someone, pain of rejection. It's like... it didn't hurt anymore. Or so he convinced himself.

Because everytime Jiequan fights with Yi ends, ShuanShuan is gently tugging his pants and asks: Does this hurt? Jiequan smiles and says that it's not, he'll manage. Kid was in fact the first who offered him compassion, despite Jiequan hurting Yi. Who seen him nervously waithing for root node to spat ot Yi's bruised body. Share their quiet moments, talking (more like barking at each other, but bickering and being annoying is his way to show affection) or reading toghether. Of how Jiequan follows Yi like a shadow, trying to pry emotions out of him.

One day he lets kid stay. Sleep beside him, while Jiequan trying to stop blood gushing out of his guts.

He might understand why Yi is so protective over the kid. He might understand that maybe, just maybe, it hurts when he sees Ji playin with ShuanShuan more often, then with him in his childhood. It hurts when Yi let someone touch him gently, but not him. It pains him to be alone. It pains there is no one to ease the agony. Both his and Yi's.

They are the same. Isolating themselfs from the others to lick their wounds alone. Jiequan hoped that enduring the pain will make him a better person when, in fact, well, it just isolated him. Sometimes pain is just a pain, it just leaves a scar that never stop hurting. It hurts like hell to be alone.

He wants to be comforted and understood. He wants someone - no, Yi - to tend his wounds. He yearns for Yi to touch him out of the battle, to acknowledge his suffering and say that Yi...that Yi... that Yi loves him. The way he is.

So, he will suffer for Yi. Leaving bloody trail of Dusk Guards behind him, so Yi's path become little easier. So the only person to draw Yi's blood would be Jiequan himself. Enemies won't tend Yi's wounds but he will. He will be the only pain Yi needs to expirience in his life EVER. It's his way of protecting Yi. Besides... Yi is the only one who will make Jiequan's pain feel a little bearable.

4. Ji - " Trial of Apathy"

Before we start talkin about Ji let's get one thing clear: I support the headcanon that Ji was somewhat of the parental figure to Jiequan. This will play a role in this au, so, please keep this information in your head. And also, I belive that at somepoint Ji left Jiequan, probably when he was 15 or 18 y.o. to live in Grotto. ____________________________________________________

Ji lived a long life. Maybe, someone less apathetic to the twists and turns of solarian history would say he had a very exciting life. He's a living piece of history, witnessing the rise and end of the empire of Jie, being on both sides of the war in Turbulent Era. He saw the rise of taosism. He saw the new era of technological advansments on the bring of their civilization last breath. He saw death. He saw life. How people he loved come and go, leaving their mark in history of Penglai, but all of them end up joining tao when the day comes. He mourned, at first. He cried, he felt his heart skip a beat everytime hexagramm shown a grimm future of his loved ones.

Then, he stopped to care. He is not just a seer, but a scribe. Scribes are humble observers of the world. Collecting and preserving history, though, Ji always found it humorous. Doesn't scribes tell story through their own perspective? Well, that was a reason he never became a scribe himself.

Why should he? He is just a "lucky guy". He never wished to live that long or forsee future. He never wanted to build an empire or have his own guild. So, he became a silent observer of life, but, he never found a reason to stay and enjoy it. Not anymore. What people call time is just passing by, like a river that flushed every year no matter was there Ji to witness it or not.

He grew tired of life. It was always twisting and turning, but he lost interest in it long ago. The people he loved are no more here, only remnants of them exist in the books of history. And even this remnants are twisting and turning trough the time and lense of the ones who tells the stories of the past.

Truth is: he's a coward. He could end it a long time ago but he was too apathetic to save someone, what about himself. So, he just waited in Grotto. Writing about memories of the past. Preserving what's left of the Lear's and Jietong's legacies.

Vital interaction with Yi: When the Yi arrives to the Grotto, Ji offers him an insight into the future. Ji sees their battle but not the ending of it. It's unclear. What he see is his own shocked face.

And so, when the time comes Yi refuses to finish his job. He says that someone is waiting for him at the pavilion of Four Seasons. Yi says...that Jiequan waiting for him. Alive and well.

And so, the hexagramm was right. His face, after all those years show his shock, because when he checks the fate of his student, the kid he help to raise, he's death...changed. No longer by the hand of Yi but... well. That is interesting.

Ji smiles. He remembers a sertain someone also was able fool his hexagramms. Yi is reminded him of an old friend so...he might stay. Just for a little longer.

Vital ineraction with ShuanShuan: At the pavilion Ji doing the same as in Grotto. Studying others. Observing how they ineract with each other. Living they daily and monotone lives. It's peaceful, like a meditation. Sometimes he even feel nostalgic when Yi and Jiequan yelling and pining at each other. But he is unaware that someone observing... HIM! Kids are curious by nature and so is ShuanShuan. They just silently observe each other from afar, until the day Yi and Ji having yet another late night philosophical debate. ShuanShuan joining them, saying that they both are the two sides of the same coin. They both can't enjoy what life gives them, cherish it and accept that all people must go one day. That it will always hurt to loose. Ji smiles. Kid is smart for his age and very empathetic. It almost like he magicly can read people like an open book.

And so, Ji start thinking. Then talking to ShuanShuan more, giving him one life riddle after the other, discussing it and debating. They both playing with hexagramm predictions, but it seems like ShuanShuan is actually not taking them seriously. Not because he is not beliving in it, no, quite the opposite. It's just... kid belive that fate is not set in stone. He don't care much about future, living a moment and enjoying company of his new big found family.

Getting more comfortable in pavilion make him pick up the pen again and start writing. Kid is also intrested in it, always watching how Ji's pen making simple words in a beautiful construction of sentences. He practicly pealds Ji to teach him how to write like a proper man of the letters. One day, ShuanShuan propose Ji idea of starting a personal journals and share their notes every evening. When they finally finished their reports ShuanShuan is counfused. With the child's proximity he asks: Why there is nothing written about Ji. Not feelings, not even what happened with him. Why collect notes about others life? This is not what ShuanShuan wanted, he wants to know what happend to Ji, not around the pavilion. He wants to know what he thinks, what he likes, who he cares about. He wants a glimpse of his life.

ShuanShuan says that he's not blaming Ji. Kid thinks Ji's just scared to open up because death hurt him. He understands that feeling, but says, the people around is what make pain sooth a little. They will never replace the ones you loved, but they can bring you joy and happiness too.

Ji laughs. Kid is right. He become so passive that he forgot about himself. Slowly dying inside, becoming the living corpse of a man. Library of the memories and nothing more. Maybe he needs to actually talk to the fellow Sols more. Become friends. And embrace his connections to people.

Still, he can't stop looking at his hexagramms. Asking again and again the same question: How he would die? And the hexagramm only showing him a puddle of blood.

When he asks about the others the hexagramms are adamant they will die. And the New Kunlun will go with them.

He know who will survive and who will die, yet, his own fate is unknown. It's like the hexagramms saying to him that, in fact, he is the one who should decide how his own life ends.

Death is always a surprise, after all. So, until then, he will wait - not in the way of stillness, but making it a last story to tell to his dearest friends - Jietong and Lear - when he too join the great Tao. His own story.

Oh yeah I didn't share my Dual Rulers episode 1 thoughts on here. Not really any spoilers at all, this readmore is mostly a courtesy

Sol Badguy sucks

Unika seems interesting. Verdict is still out

Animation really good

I'm going to throw up if they don't let Jack-O' be cool

Not a whole lot happens that they didn't already show in the trailer so I'm still mostly neutral about everything

My overall expectations for the plot doing anything boundary breaking are low because this thing's gonna be short and it's definitely meant to be a jumping on point for new fans, but Kaihou Norimitsu is writing it do I'm hopeful for it doing something at least a little wacky later

Nerville Hammer was 2D animated while everyone else was 3D

They seemingly did not give the translators a localization guide ("Law Power")

Hey how do you feel about todays dual rulers episode I’ve asked a couple of people and opinions have been a mixed bag so I’m curious

I liked it but I’m really biased towards liking it because sin kiske

i was just about to post about it lol

here's my general thoughts + my new theories

spoilers for Dual Rulers:

its an episode where it felt very exposition heavy (like everything was plot related but not a lot of action). there were certain narrative threads they had to get through and thats kind of what the whole episode felt like. the ep went by so fast for me i was shocked when it was over, it felt like not much actually happened bc it didnt. Of course I luuuuv Sin, he's just so much fun to watch. AND I'M GLAD ELPHELT IS OKAY LMAOO.

the scene with Bridget and Unika aaahhhh 😭😭 it felt so beautiful and yuriful to me i loved that. i wont dig into that rn though.

I love this moment with Sol where he says he was trying to protect Sin from Unika. He cares so much for his boy. He wasn't necessarily doing what he did for the good of everyone, unlike what Sin would do.

Sol is seen making decisions with harsh consequences to protect people he loves-- it reminded me of when Sol was willing to sacrifice the world to save Jack-o.

we also got some new revelations though. Unika is pretty much confirmed to be a time traveler from the future (I WIN MY THEORY WON). Sin is confirmed to be the king of the gears in Dizzy's absence?!?! HONESTLY thats insane to think. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE CAN JUST COMMAND THEM TO KILL THEMSELVES 😭

Obviously Dr Paradigm would probably argue against that, nor do I think Sin would want to do this.

I'm kind of getting the sneaking suspicion that Sin is the cause of second Crusade they spoke of in the future. One of Sin's virtues is that he values life and avoids immoral action-- but the flip side is that he refuses to make any compromise against morality, even if that possibly means endangering even more lives. Not that he's wrong for this, but i envision his good actions having unforeseen consequences. Not to mention, if Sin loses control of his powers, that's likely to be very destructive. Please i really want evil Sin PLEAAAASE. let him suffer for a little bit. Sin is also pretty naive and the fact he thinks he could just stop another Crusade without having ANY reason to back that up, really underscores that naivety, and i think that's gonna bite him in the ass.

Time travel narratives often loop back around so, maybe future Sin, if there is one, is involved in Unika's reality and that new Crusade. I'm also still pondering who her father could be. I think it will be a future version of a character we already know. Hear me out... Gear Maker That Man 2.0. The shadowy nature of this guy just reminds me of the older depictions of Asuka. It's making me wonder.

and an observation about Unika. her powers all seem to relate to animals(gears by extension, since theyre made with animal dna): wings = bird, camouflage = chameleon. Yes the wings feel so similar to Dizzy, but they're a bit off. They feel digital, same with her cloaking. My theory is that Unika's is able to mimic the abilities of gears, using advanced technology. We learned that Unika and whoever she is working with, possess technology not of this era. It's very advanced, with her being able to make a copy of the weapon key just by coming into contact with it for a bit. Who knows what else that technology can mimic? and coming from a time where another Crusade happened, I'm sure they had developed some anti-gear tech.

Could Unika be working with Nerville Hammer? I was hesitant to say at first, bc it seemed too convenient that Unika and Nerville showed up at the wedding together. It seemed like a red herring. But if Nerville was working on anti-gear tech, maybe his research became VERY important in the future, leading to some of the tech that Unika's possesses.

Another point pops up: why are Unika and Sin so similar in their fighting style and powers? If Unika is not directly related to Sin, she might be augmented with Sin's (AND maybe Dizzy's) DNA, to be a kind of super soldier. There's mentions of her life being more special than others, so there is something that makes her uniquely important. Perhaps she has command gear blood in her. Maybe she wasn't born that way? Or maybe she was.

We know Nerville took Dizzy's and Sin's DNA-- likely because they're both Command Gears -- and maybe that was to ensure that in the future humanity had a back up plan against the gears.

This seems to imply that Unika and Nerville are working for the same people, some coalition that has yet to be revealed. I'm excited for that.

Dragon Prince S6 Thoughts

"Sometimes the line between mercy and cruelty can be thin." Aaravos and Startouch Elves

Well holy shit, that opening really went from wholesome Viren (who is alive) hugging Terry and celebrating Aaravos’ supposed “lie” to OH GOD CLAUDIA KILLED A CHILD. God, it's really terrifying seeing Claudia give so much to save her father...it really hits home how Viren felt responsible for leading her down this route. The tragic thing is that I think Viren knows deep inside that as of now, he can't help her...but he hopes he can inspire her to turn back. Despite everything she did, Claudia's actions to save her father were all for nothing. She lost a leg and her soul (it is yet to be seen if her soul can be brought back) and yet by the time she reached home, her father died yet again...this time for good. Claudia's screams were really chilling and sad.

At least, Terry is always there for Claudia...though I'm worried about what will happen to him given Claudia's increasing mental dive into darkness and insanity. He rightfully points out how revenge is different from love and how it drove Aaravos to the deaths of God who knows.

I really love that Viren didn't choose to reveal what he did to heal Soren. It would've just caused Soren more grief and pain. That's one of the most best things Viren could have done before his sacrifice. He carries on the absolute shame (I felt chills when I heard how he obtained the last part of the spell) that he caused rather than “pass it on” so to say to Soren.

Viren’s true death feels fitting for him. All this time everyone close to him ask if he was willing to risk his life for another. Dark Magic has ruined so many lives and yet also saved so man in some cases. There is a price to be paid. But finally, he proved that he was willing to do that rather than find some other way to pay the price or back out. This time he paid the price and did a truly selfless action where nobody had to get hurt...other than him. He lived his whole life choosing what he felt was pragmatic and selfish with only a few moments of his good self showing...he chose to finally die a servant of his home. While Soren will understandably never forgive him for what he did to him and the world, he will remember him for his last act of unselfish genuine goodness and living up to his desires of atonement rather than going back. I also love how his last words are the last words spoken by Harrow to him.

"I am a servant. I am a...servant." Viren's last words

That entire ship episode is so hilarious with the meta-commentary. The Celestial Elves were a really cool sub-ect of Skywing Elves. I also love the parallels between dealing with Ice Behmeath in the present and the Magma Titan in the past. Instead of killing the beast which left people killed, they found what made it so sad and everyone lives.

Also Callum and Rayla are back together! So happy and I wished we didn't have the break-up personally but still finally.

I now understand the Soren and Corvus ship, and I approve.

I'm so happy that Amaya and Janai finally got married at last. Too bad Karim had to ruin all the vibes temporarily, thankfully, the two were able to salvage it. Amaya and Janai truly deserve the world.

The build-up to when Ezran and Corvus realizes the true plan of Karim is really chilling.

S6 really has me lowkey ship Ezran and Aanya haha. Two badass, wise, and compassionate young rulers who lost their parents...speaking off, I can't imagine seeing Ezran in S7 now that he knows his kingdom is destroyed.

Sol Regem really is responsible for the events of the show. While it is dark how he died and it's horrible how he was responsible for his soulmate's death, I can't say he didn't deserve his death at all. He was the one who laid the seeds for humanity's conflict with elves and utterly despises humanity. He literally choked and burned on his own element.

Katolis being destroyed made me sad since it was our primary setting in the human realm for 6 seasons.

The Startouch Elves gave me so many Collector vibes. Aaravos really is the Ardyn of Dragon Prince with a bit of Collector and I'm all here for it. Now all that is needed is for him to get a stylish hat and turn the sky into an eternal darkness. Also, Aaravos was really that big in his natural mortal form...which made S5's horrifying reveal of what he said make a lot of sense.

A major theme of S6 and the show is how revenge won't get you anywhere but further metaphorically drown yourself. Another major theme is love (platonically and romantically), whether familial, platonic, or romantic.

S6 really is an amazing return to form, and it felt like the quality of the first three seasons was consistent. I cannot wait for the final season of this saga. I did hear about them wanting to make three more books and I wonder how they can go from here...but I trust them to do right based on S6.

Day Three of the Ultimate Dragon Prince Rewatch! 🙌🙌

Season three rewatch!

Kinda lowkey head empty but here goes

Rayla turning back to Callum when she’s telling Sol Regem about all the great things about Callum. Like. She didn’t have to do that. She’s supposed to be trying to convince Sol Regem. But also we know Callum is someone who doesn’t always see his worth. And so she’s saying it to his face, which both refutes his claims of not being valuable, and shows that she can say all those things to his face. Which,, it’s not always easy to say something to someone’s face like that. And she did it with a smile on her face and refused to let him get eaten by Sol Regem. Queen 🙌

I love how every scene in ep 2 of Callum and Rayla is just the fluffiest thing how they’re exploring Xadia while literally everyone else is having a bad time

Season Three Episode Three more like OUUUCH WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THAT TO MY HEARTTTTT

So on one hand the flashback of Runaan and Ethari always gets me and cuts me to the core, but today it stung a little less, I’m guessing it’s because I know what happens in season six (I say I’m calm now but I think the second season six releases I’m going to be running around in circles screaming until they reunite)

It’s also not easy for me to watch Soren and Claudia meet Viren in the dungeon. And it’s just. You can see the exact moment that Claudia is sure that her dad did in fact send Soren to kill the princes. Claudia tells him that Soren almost died and Viren YELLS and stretches to the end of the chain, telling them that that it doesn’t matter. And in that moment Claudia can tell that something isn’t right. And although she doesn’t want it to be true, she trusts her brother and her instincts. Unfortunately, Aaravos tells Viren to lie, and so he does. He gaslights Soren to the point it wretches my heart. And Claudia…Claudia does believe Soren. She believes he’s not crazy. But…she still looks up to her father too much. And here he is telling her that he did not send Soren to kill the princes. And so the denial in her goes quiet.

“If my interpretation is correct, which it is,” Kazi you wonderful ruler you 🙌

Janai is all “ugh, you annoy me, human” until her sister threatens to dispose of her, then it’s all “this human is different” and helps that human survive looking into the Light…okay Janai I get it you won’t say you’re in love, no biggie

Man I still don’t agree with all of Nyx’s choices but she is fun to watch

I love the boomerang reference, so for most of the years I’ve watched this show I didn’t watch Avatar, and now that I have seen it I burst out laughing when I heard Jack de Sena in this episode say “boomerang?”

Once again we get the picture that Rayla hasn’t really been allowed to show weakness or vulnerability. But she breaks, and Callum isn’t backing away. And he’s actually not pitying her. He literally tells her to “shut up” and that’s what catches her attention because this hasn’t been his approach so far. And then, just like she did for him, he tells her how amazing she is. And her little laugh when he says that she’s the funniest person he knows…I love it. So cute.

K so. Why is the kid being taken to a cell. Why is the most dangerous guy becoming king when he was just locked up for treason. Huh maybe fictional world kids show politics do mirror real life

YEAHHHH SORENNN HELP OPELLI AND CORVUS AND EZRANNNN

Soren and Callum are the worst liars, especially when guilty. “Of course we’re both here! Why wouldn’t we be?” meets “HORSES NEED HAY. I AM TAKING HAY TO THE HORSES.”

“Dear…Moon Lady” never gets old

Imagine being Ezran though and you meet up again with your brother and the girl you’ve known for like three weeks tops and you’ve left them alone for what can’t be more than five days, and now they’re romantically entangled

“Neolawwwndia.” “Uh, yeah, that’s what I said. NoOdleOodLiA! :D” THIS ALSO NEVER GETS OLD

Actually it’s really funny watching Kasif because he’s flanked by two AuDHD teens and maybe their dad is normal but oh wait he’s…talking to the little bug on his ear.

I love the scene where they’re at the base and Callum is talking through his feelings about seeing Avizandum. And how Zym and Ezran are playing in that area. Rayla talks about how Zym and Ezran going to change things. This is one of a few times where we are shown old wounds that are healing.

I think it’s really important that until now neither Soren or Claudia have seen Viren’s Dark Magic Face til Lux Aurea. Claudia audibly gasps when she sees Viren. It’s probably scary and confusing for her—just like what she was to Ezran last season. And yet she still goes Ezran saw the best in her, and so she’s doing the same with her dad. Soren though…Soren’s seeing the red flags.

So season 1-2 Viren was not afraid of saying that he was afraid/terrified…. But he has much more power now, and when Soren refused to accept the “gift” because he’s afraid, Viren snarls, commanding Soren to come forward. This isn’t the same man who said he was terrified. This is someone who feels unstoppable, someone who has always held his son to too high standards.

Soren leaves, Claudia notices. They’re splintering, but not quite unbreakable yet. But then he asks her to choose, again. She has to choose once again between her dad and someone what she loves. And you can hear it in her voice, she does not want to choose again. You can hear it still haunts her. And then he leaves, and she starts screaming, and my heart breaks 💔 because not only is it heart breaking to watch but also because it means they’ll no longer be on the same side 💔 (her mother told her last time that she needed to stay with Soren…. Things would have turned out much different if she chose to go with him again 😔)

It’s funny to me watching the scene where they’re climbing the storm spire because they’re out of breath and that’s how I am when I’m climbing anything. And they can’t take it, but it’s because their lungs can’t make it. And then they get a breathe spell and then they’re better. Anyways I had undiagnosed asthma until 2023 so this scene always spoke out to me.

Was thinking about Soren having facial hair as he’s riding to the storm spire. I interpret that detail as a demonstration of how he’s been going straight to the storm spire without stopping, but also it’s our first time seeing him with facial hair so I can’t help but think that’s supposed to show that he’s grown.

I love Soren’s speech in episode eight. You can see he’s struggling because what would you do if you just came to tend with your father being the villain? What would you do if you figured out you were manipulated by the person you looked up to the most?

“The only way to stop this is to look evil in the face and say no more.” AHHHHHHHHH THAT LINE WILL FOREVER GO SO HARDDDDD

Callum figuring out the truth about Rayla’s parents for her, freeing her from the burden she’s been carrying…ahhhhhhh my heart

Still one of the most epic battles in all media. Endgame has Iron Man sure, but do they have a baker who takes superhuman soldiers out with a rolling pin and some jelly tarts? I didn’t think so.

The Viren illusion was so cruel for Soren.

Hey. Hey Viren. You are threatening to trap a fifteen year old in a coin, as you are telling her you have others that way (including her parents). I mean you threatened a 9-10 year old like two days ago but like. In your quest to save humanity you have been becoming pretty inhumane yourself.

Rayla throwing herself and Viren off the cliff…we’ve seen this in her since season one. She’s always been willing to sacrifice herself for the dragon prince and the future of Xadia. And it always hits hard when you see her make the choice she knows she can’t come back from.

“Just the four of us. Five of us.” “Just the five of you, huh?” Gahh I love it when everyone is working together

I actually got goosebumps all up and down my arms when Zubeia woke up and because of how happy she was seeing elves and humans working together to bring back her baby. Wholesome ending indeed <3

(Love when Amaya bumps Janai, looks at her reproachfully, Janai scoffs, but then they both smile the second they start holding hands)

Watching Viren in the cave always gives me war flashbacks to when I had to wait 2 1/2 years for the next season to come out.

All in all, love season three! As my friend likes to say, good soup.
