Hey y'all. If you're seeing this--I'm alive.
After some burn out, I'm getting back on track. So, hopefully I will post stuff here regularly. I also put up a TikTok to show stuff and will probably post later of it. I don't have a good cam or editing skills so, the first vids are gonna be a little cheesy Ig.
In the meantime, here's me messing around my pose skeleton with my latest acquisition of mini brands toys. 💖

Here is a Goblin mech miniature from Lancer that I have painted as a proof of concept before moving onto the other mechs.

This year's Orktober slate is a treat and really, really old.
Orc Girls on Roller Skates and a couple of '97 Shoota Boys. There's also a Gorkamorka-era Truck, not pictured.
Tumblr media
Orc Girls on Roller Skates with Uzis was a set made by Dark Horse Miniatures back in 1985. These and several others tied into an RPG called "Excursion into the Bizarre," which I have zero experience with. Dark Horse is mostly remembered for producing the first-ever licensed product for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 1984. By 1987, Dark Horse was sold to Goldring which also promptly went out of business.

Kitbashed this Everest together for Lancer a while ago, and having recently played through Titanfall 2 again, decided on the basic BT look after I couldn't decide how to paint him
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tried to mimic the official Everest design I've seen floating around, but I'm partial to the blocky style head so I stole that from a Battletech Highlander
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually a lot is from Battletech, the legs are an Assassin and the Torso is a Black Knight. I love the Vladof guns from Borderlands so I found one of those for my assault rifle, and the arms are from the free mech set Filamentio released. I think that's most of it...

Oh shoutout to Death Ray Designs for their shark mouth nose art and industrial decals, they're great

This is The Fantastic Worlds of Grenadier Supplement (2018), which was produced with a near-identical cover as, well, a supplement to the first volume, The Fantastic Worlds of Grenadier. I don’t have the first one (but very much would like to, if you have a copy you don’t want!) but I assume it is sort of a history of Grenadier, one of the biggest producers of fantasy miniatures in the ’80s and ’90s.
This volume is largely dedicated to ephemera left out of the first book. There are catalog pages, many in pretty high resolution color (surprising, considering the low-end printing of the era), depicting many photos of miniatures and box covers. There’s an interview with Grenadier’s PR manager, Kim Eastland (probably better known as a prolific author for TSR). While at Grenadier in 1981 (at age 19!), Eastland founded The Grenadier Bulletin, a fantastic newsletter than ran intermittently through the ’80s and into the ’90s.
This is just pure catnip for me. I think, if push comes to shove, Grenadier produced the majority of my favorite miniatures. Most of the ones I bought back in the ’90s (and then left unpainted) were Grenadier. Most of the stuff I’ve painted (since I finally took up painting miniatures back in 2022) have been Grenadier. So a book of Grenadier eye candy? That’s going to hit home for me in a big way.
For real, Terrence Gunn, reprint this and the first volume!

Don’t think I’ve ever posted my deciduous tree mass production method. Just a poker chip, golf tee, hot glue, and moss.

I recently put together a 16 page fake video game strategy guide! You can get it for free on itch. It's a prototype for a much larger project.
All figurines and frames are were made by hand by me. Each one took at least a couple hours to put together. Check it out, and let me know what you think!

First Lancer: Battletech AU Mini!
I’ve been running a Lancer campaign with some friends for about a year and a half now, and naturally the parasite in my brain has compelled me to come up with Battletech AU versions of their characters - and then to actually paint minis for them. I finally finished the first of four today, representing local neutral evil music festival girl SSC castoff mercenary Channeary Dovei (callsign: LOVEDAY)! Given her status as a backline Pegasus pilot and love for freaky looking mechs, I decided that only the Pack Hunter would do (AU Lore below pictures).

(Drawing and Retrograde Sprite by @aenysanus)
Channeary (Solaris VII Gladiator, Clan Sea Fox)
During the Wars of Reaving, the homeworld Clans employed pervasive rhetoric depicting the invader Clans as “corrupted” by the Inner Sphere - decadent, distracted from the ideals of Kerensky, no longer cleaving to clan tradition. Similar rhetoric is deployed by hardline members of Clans like Jade Falcon to describe the Clans that have altered their ways to survive and thrive in the inner sphere; in particular Clan Sea Fox. These are, of course, propagandistic nonsense - which doesn’t stop Channeary from perfectly embodying them.
Channeary is a walking subversion of almost every stereotype about clanner Mechwarriors - she’s hedonistic, avaricious, entirely selfish, unconcerned with “honour” (never bothered to earn a Bloodname) and bad at taking orders. The parts of the stereotype she lives up to are being an utterly deadly ranged combatant and an unabashed technofetishist. These traits, taken together, made Channeary a natural fit for Clan Sea Fox’s “Babyface” initiative - to establish a Clan-sponsored stable of gladiators on Solaris VII in order to advertise their ‘mechs and weapons systems. It’s a role Channeary has taken to with aplomb, eagerly living the rockstar lifestyle of an arena champion complete with groupies and exotic drugs. Her pink Pack Hunter is a crowd favourite - the frame may be a Wolf-in-Exile design, but hers mounts Sea Fox weaponry (as well as uses Sea Fox paint). Its thin armor matters little to Channeary, who never was one for an up-close fight, and she delights in landing devastating shots on distracted opponents. The ‘mech is her pride and joy, and almost all of her promos are shot in its cockpit - extra convenient, given her obligation to remind the viewers that the best ER PPCs are manufactured by Clan Sea Fox.
In-Game:
Battlemech: Pack Hunter (Standard)
Gunnery/Piloting: 2/5
Skills: Sniper

I always space out on posting wips but I'm building a castle rn and it's large
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The base is fairly simple- I built it out of pizza boxes and could probably make up a pattern for it easy if I ever wanted to build another one. Currently gluing individual craft foam bricks all over it.
I cut up a bunch of plastic packaging for the windows and drew the lines on with an oil based paint pen. (sticks the best) The stained glass is gloss gel (soft) mixed with a teeny tiny bit of paint.
I still wanna build some platforms for the inside and string lights all through the thing- there'll be torches on the front and the towers will light up 🔥
Gotta trust the process lol

Here’s another Chaos Dwarf from Checkpoint Miniatures. I picture this guy as a ranger and guide, leading people across Moor and Fen and into the deepest woodlands.
