So like, there's this awesome game with a fuckload of potential with servers named after Celtic and other pagan gods. It's called Pax Dei. It got review bombed so hard by players in early access, but it was a game that is still in development as early access games should be. Like, it currently sits as an mmo, with no currency whatsoever, but players still trade and value goods, resources, and materials differently enough to facilitate trade.

For example, I traded a bunch of tier 2 logs for a massive crate of beer.

It's incredibly grindy if you're a builder, smith, or basically any sort of tradesperson. As a result, the game remains somewhat pvp focused, especially with that being the best resource gathering area which holds the best magic items as well, which are items used to craft magical armor, weapons, etc, which allow you to cast magic or have magical properties. It's honestly confusing as hell if you go in blind, which is why I've stayed out of magic entirely which is why I'm an armorsmith (and have put 92 hours into a game that came out last month and only meeting my clan last week in a [currently] very clan driven game).

It's genuinely great without currency, and they're adding a (supposedly) hard currency in the coming updates. Supposedly silver, which is going to be limited in quantity with a very high starting spawn. So the combat experts that currently exist in game that gather together for pvp are going to make a mint facilitating trade between pvp zones, especially if they also hire out as guides for travelers without a pre-planned route. Clans typically consist of like 5-10 people (again, for like the 10th time, currently, I expect a whole fuckload to change as the game develops, like lore doesn't even really exist in game yet). I genuinely think this game is gonna outdo WoW in our lifetime as a gaming phenomenon if people legitimately give it a chance while keeping in mind that it's literally playable in development on UE5 and you're seeing a legitimately incomplete product.

I honestly don't care who all plays, currently, the server I'm at is at max pop, meaning no new characters can be put on it, yet. I just want the game to get fuckhuge, and the only way that's gonna happen is if it gets a lot of players. I can say this in earnest, don't look at what it is right now, look at what it is a week from when you start playing, a month, however long. When roleplay servers expand, which they very well may considering it was filled by people trying to get away from the survival servers because the rp servers are legitimately better since the roleplayers generally take pride in whatever craft they choose, and as a result get better at it faster since they're willing to trade for or gather buttloads of resources.

It's not free, but it's $40 for the base edition, which if you're not planning on leading a clan, is all you really need. Servers are likely to expand if they get the funding, and by that I mean grow in player count and number. If you are planning on leading a clan, then you'll need an additional $50, because you'll want the extra plots and maybe the additional furniture and structures (which are purely decorative). Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of pay to win features, and this would seem like one, if the build height limit wasn't crazy tall and the height of most practical crafting stuff wasn't usually pretty short. It's vanity and expansionism only, but everyone gets a plot, from which you can use it to expand your clan's land, or for a little home, or a shop even, or really, whatever, maybe a combination of them. I used two of mine to build a temple and one for a watchtower/kitchen/brewry/tiny forge/charcoal kiln. And it's only up to the third floor in a 4x3 floor area.

Seriously, it's awesome as long as you're not trying to play up some high fantasy stuff and can be and act like a human. There's plans for map wipes during development, which may reset characters for all I know, on top of that, their alpha only had one server per available region, and that went up to (I believe but don't feel like checking for an already too long game review) 6. Most players have 1-2 characters, and as a result, the rp and survival communities are kind of intertwined, but not really. I have one character I play. I've only played the game for about a week with any sort of effort or real daily time to speak of, and I've unwittingly put 92 hours into it. When I say it's a legitimately good game that got shit tier early reviews from some idiots that didn't understand what early access is supposed to be and when it's being used as it's intended, I mean it. The grindyness of it has been significantly reduced in the last couple weeks, and the game came out last month. The stack sizes of a lot of items went up this week. It's legitimately being worked on regularly, with patches coming up regularly and big ones coming up occasionally. Like I said earlier, there's expansions planned that add massive, literally game changing, features. Honestly, the devs are likely going to reorganize the server layouts to favor roleplayers more than survival gamers because it's working itself out to be a top tier mmorpg.

Get in early, figure the game out, and if characters aren't deleted ever, maybe even get yourself maxxed out in everything and be massively OP when it exits early access. I legitimately feel like it's going to be a hit if people review it with the knowledge it's legitimately using the term early access properly, while already being awesome.

Transformers Sims Au

Hey! So I'm migrating something I started on my transformers rp blog to here! Seeing as how this is my blog for all of my art, personal, and gaming junk I figure this is where it belongs now. Plus I've gone through and redone basically everything anyway so I figure it's a good idea to start over fresh.

This is basically my take on a humanformers AU except I built it in the sims. So it's a sims/humanformers Au for the transformers. Hope that makes sense to everyone! These are just my opinions on the type of styles and homes I think the bots would live in if they were human. It shouldn't really be taken seriously, I'm just doing this for fun and to practice my interior decorating skills.

This is the masterpost! Below you'll find the links to the various cities/neighborhoods which will have the various mechs listed within them. Houses that are finished and posted will be linked to. Otherwise I'll just have a label for them that says who lives where and a map that indicates as such. This is an on-going project so check back in often as I'll be updating it constantly!

It had been a while since Hieronymous Brine left solitude in search of souls. He didn't need them, and, for a while, he didn't even want them. But when noises of civilization encroached on his hiding place, he decided to investigate.

It sounded like many people; not an entire town, but a decent sized group. It'd be easy to pick off one person out of many if any of their souls looked enticing enough. As Brine neared the source of the sound, he ducked behind a tree to watch. People were digging and moving the land en masse: terraforming. Even better; an overworked mortal would be all the easier to whisk away.

But wait. Brine squinted at one of the people hauling dirt and enjoying themselves in the process.

What was curious was not the fact that this was a half-enderman he was looking at, but the fact that it had not one, not two, but seven souls in it. That couldn't be right. But then again, if it was right... that'd make for a great and easy haul.

Brine considered his next course of action. While he remained unnoticed now, how would he gain their attention without causing a scene? Hm...

The half-enderman was the closest person to him, so perhaps a simple noise might garner their attention. Brine grabbed a loose branch from the tree he hid behind and snapped it a bit loudly in his hands. He quickly dropped the stick afterward, so as to pretend he had merely stepped on it, and ducked back behind the tree, mostly. 'Accidentally' drawing attention was far less suspicious.

This was my first time drawing any kind of bunny looking character so I hope I did ok 😅

Anyway yeah, Techno's actually really invested in the game, he's also pretty good at rp! He's around people he knows he can trust so he's less awkward because he knows the won't judge him

At the beginning of the campaign Pax is in a position somewhat similar to Techno himself, being that they live in the woods with a bunch of animals.

The thing that actually prompts them to become a proper adventurer is that an displacer beast kitten he had taken in after finding it alone and injured was confiscated(stolen) by a religious research institution (cult, it's a cult, it just doesn't want admit it's a cult)

And uh Pax wasn't particularly down for that shit. So, obvious answer is kitten heist. This becomes a problem because Pax does not have the skills for that, or like... connections. They're a hermit and don't talk to like... Anyone generally. He is friends with a druid named Astra though (Astra is Wren's character btw). And she's more connected.

That's how they meet Juli and Niki's character Nyx(who is an arcane trickster rogue).

Juli actually has a connection to the cult because she was hired by them to do alchemy and stuff, but after hearing about the kittennaping and also about various other crimes committed (a lot of them stealing creatures or knowledge, with some people trafficking on the side) through Nyx (who has a large network of other thieves, assassin and various other criminal underworld stuff) she nopes all the way out of that job.

Anyway yeah... that's how the party starts to form. But back to more Pax specific stuff!

Pax is probably the second most responsible person in the party after Astra. And they both sort of accidentally become the parent figures of the group. Everyone else is chaos incarnate(Juli, Nyx, Clyde(Phil's character, joins the party with Juli because he's an old family friend of hers and has been traveling around with her)) or trauma town(Moon, Coal(Ranboo's character, they're and escaped experiment from the cult, she joins not too long after the party's formation)).

Pax definitely just wanted to get his cat back but realized they needed to destroy a cult and got attached to the dumbasses they're doing so with

Also, Pax didn't mention to the party that the cat he was rescuing was a displacer beast, they always just refered to her as his cat by her name, "Erebus" or more commonly than her full name by her nickname "Ere"

In the middle of the night, PAX made his way through the forest with a single torch and an inventory of dirt. He'd hope this would work. That the Brine was a mob who was more active at night like the others.

When he found a secluded spot, PAX built a quick 5x5 dirt hut, set the torch up, and finalized the build with a door. PAX wasn't sure hoe the summoning would work and wanted to be prepared. So he stepped inside, closed the door, and tried to focus.

He just needed to say his name, right? PAX dug out a crumpled piece of parchment with scribbled letters from his pocket and squinted in the dark.

"Hhhhh...Her... Hare.... Hey-ron-ė-moose? -mus? -mouse? Brine?"

it’s gorgeous. I love the visual world building with the planet’s surface with the moving mountains, the wildlife, the tracks, the architecture. I want an art book of this film. Give it to me Hasbro!

the soundtrack slaps

the friendship between Optimus and Megatron is the best part

they take a lot of lore established from many continuities and it has a lot of references for fans

the miners don’t have T-cogs and are treated as a lower caste

no humans. It takes place on cybertron and not just the first ten minutes.

the negatives

the pacing is rushed and writers won’t let a scene slow down and breathe. Everyone needs a one liner lest the kids get bored.

the plot twist is obvious, but it’s a kids movie

certain characters are one note and not developed enough

I think they dropped the ball with the Optimus/megatron rivalry which is the crux of the plot. Spoilers below

Transformers One markets itself as the prequel to the transformers franchise, the origin of Optimus prime and megatron's legendary rivalry and the war for cybertron.

the plot centers around the disappearance of the original primes in the Great War with the quintessons and the shortage of energon ever since the Matrix of leadership went missing. Orion Pax and D-16 are both miner bots, the lowest caste of transformers who are forged without T-cogs and therefore can’t transform. A long series of shenanigans lead to them going on a quest to find the lost matrix of leadership and discovering Sentinel Prime lied to everyone. He killed the primes and made himself ruler of cybertron, making a deal with quintessons by supplying them with energon, and have kept the miner bots subservient to him by removing their T-cogs before they’re even brought online.

Now, the problem I have with the Optimus/megatron rivalry is how they choose to deal with this reveal. Optimus wants to broadcast Sentinel’s betrayal to the public and cause a revolution, while Megatron is fueled by rage at the truth of his eternal servitude and just wants revenge on Sentinel Prime.

and I know this movie is for a younger audience, but I feel like it simplifies the conflict too much, to the point Megatron is clearly in the wrong and Optimus’ plan actually saves the planet (yeah the planet is fine. Energon starts flowing again and the newly formed decepticons are exiled from the planet. Because Optimus said so)

as I was leaving the cinema I was rewriting the second half of the plot in my head. Coming up with a scenario where Megatron’s side held more weight and didnt reduce him to a mindless killing machine.

what if Optimus’ plan wasn’t so straight forward? What if the broadcast would cause conflict that would cause a civil war, and they have to figure out how to best approach this? What if Optimus wants them to be slow and cautious in order to prevent the most amount of bloodshed, but Megatron is impatient. He wants to rescue as many miners as quickly as possible, miners who are dying to meet the increase energon quota. He wants to lead the revolution now and overthrow Sentinel Prime, but Optimus is thinking about the bots who ignorantly side with Sentinel’s propaganda, and the civilians who will get stuck in the crossfire.

it might be too complex for a kids movie, but the entire premise of the movie isn't even about the origin of Optimus and Megatron’s longstanding rivalry and their clashing ideology. Megatron just doesn’t like the way Optimus goes about exposing Sentinel and wants to feel powerful now he’s gained power of his own. His turn to extremism was rushed, him gaining his army was rushed, and his friends-to-enemies dynamic with Optimus was rushed.

there was no reason for megatron not to go along with Optimus’ original plan from the beginning and them having their fallout in the aftermath, especially when the movie did a good job establishing Megatron’s suspicion of corrupt figureheads. Seeing Orion be chosen by the matrix of leadership and becoming yet another Prime could lead to intriguing commentary with how Megatron wants to tear down the system, and Optimus taking the title of Prime is just him repeating the cycle when they should be dismantling the system entirely. No more primes!
