Eddie Munson who is a badass until you ask him to kill a spider.

“What are you doing?” He’d ask, standing in the doorway of the bathroom while you’re standing on the edge of the bathtub, staring at the floor.

“There’s a spider, it’s big and hairy. please, kill it,” you’d whine, looking at him as the spider crawled around more and more.

“So am i but you don’t seem to want me killed,” he’d smirk, cocky ass grin on his face as you rolled your eyes. “Where is it?”

You’d point to the giant spider crawling around the floor, Eddie’s eyes meeting the little black ball of fuzz that was crawling around the floor.

A scream would leave his mouth as he would jump up next to you on the bathtub, wrapping his arms around you. “No, fuck that; you kill him. you found him, right? So you get to kill him.”

“No! I’m not touching that thing,” you’d complain, watching it continue to crawl around. Eddie would stare at the spider with wide eyes, watching it come closer and closer.

“My god, it’s coming closer. It must smell fear,” Eddie would comment, shuddering in his spot.

“Eddie, please, what happened to my big strong boyfriend?” You’d ask, looking at him.

“He’s not that big and strong when there’s a fucking tarantula in his bathroom. Oh, my god. Burn the house down; it’s his now, we’re moving out.”

And after hours of bickering back and forth with Eddie, continuously watching the spider crawl around the floor, Gareth shows up at your house for a movie night. He walks towards the bathroom and stops in his tracks when he sees you and Eddie standing on the edge of the bathtub arguing.

“…What are you two doing?” Gareth would ask, raising an eyebrow.

And both you and Eddie would point to the spider and yell “kill it!” at the same time.

And once Gareth sees what you’re pointing at he’d giggle, “it’s just a little spider, guys, fucking chill,” and he’d lean down and grab the spider and pick it up in his hands and walk towards the door with it to let it live and be free in the wild and you and Eddie are sighing and stepping down from the bathtub as you watch Gareth walk away with the spider.

“That’s messed up, i can’t believe i used to have a crush on him,” you’d comment, watching him walk away before Eddie would nod and reply with a,

“Yeah, me neither. What did I ever see in him?” Which would leave you staring at your boyfriend with a raised eyebrow and a look of shock on your face.

“…What?”

“Yeah, i don’t know either, maybe it’s the hair,” Eddie would reply, stepping out of the bathroom as he walked towards the living room, leaving you alone in the bathroom.

“…What?!”

how did the wild robot go

OH MY GOD

i came in expecting “robot fox and bird found family in a forest” and i GOT “robot fox and bird found family in a forest” but SO MUCH BETTER????

all the spoilers every spoiler

yknow stories that are like “how am i supposed to live after that?” like Undertale Yellow or Brokeback mountain? yeah this is the opposite of that. and that’s exactly what i needed after being hyperfixating on uty for months.

some random thoughts i have are:

HRNRTHHFHFJFJGHTH. AUGH. WHAT DO I EVEN SAY…

i was crying since before the middle of the movie. and i didn’t sob at the ending. it was so good, the strong hard parts made me really cry but it kept getting hopeful again. i just.

I felt so seen by so much of that movie. I’m autistic, raised in a quite dysfunctional family and always depending on escaping with fantasy like undertale and fnaf, so i never had any real friends until 6th grade. Watching Brightbill (a runt) being raised by Roz and Fink (two already outcast members of the island with no friends) all because of their own flaws and accidents made me feel so… real. seen. I’ve never felt so represented. a dysfunctional, loving family, built on mistakes and trying to fit in and fulfill their purpose. trying to find the people they belong with.

Similarly but not exactly the same, the found family aspect. Again, as functional as they can be for a runt goose, a manipulative fox and a hunk of metal. but they were all stuck in a place where they can only try their best and take care of each other. that’s literally me and my friends bro. it’s like finding someone so different that you completely click with after a while. you get to watch everyone change and grow with each other.

one of my favorites things was the titular Wild Robot, Roz. GODDDD WHERE DO I START….

Roz showed up somewhere new, not knowing how anything worked, and just followed how she was programmed. She was feared, hated for just doing what she knew. Eventually she sat and waited and watched and learned what she could. When she woke back up, everyone still hated her. She did her best, she could now communicate, but it led her into a bad spot in which she did what she always knew and ended up, with a little help from others in a similar spot, finding those who loved her. In the end, learning how to connect and helping them do what they needed to led her to connecting with others, and being accepted for being kind by those who were not.

now replace Roz with Indigo and read that again, maybe don’t read it as literally but like. THAT WAS JUST MY ENTIRE MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE???? HELLO????

one last thing because GOD THIS MOVIE IS SO FANTASTIC THERES SO MANY THINGS I CANT EVEN THINK OF EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT THIS MOVIEEEEE

the art and music. dear god. this movie is so fucking good at being a movie. the art, environment, composition, EVERYTHING IN THIS MOVIE IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. it’s stunning, every single shot i just wanted to dig my teeth into, it’s such a beautiful movie.

the framing and pacing and music and colors and emotion throughout the entire movie is just phenomenal. everything is just so fucking good.

i wish i could say more but i’d need to rewatch it. i just can’t think about it right now i need to let it soak into my autism sponge brain. expect Axis, Guardener and Roz drawings tonight.

Do we know how long it takes for Roz to recharge?

This scene has been replaying in my head for while(and the WHOLE movie tbh) cause it felt almost out of place. Red foxes on average sleep about 9 hours and goslings sleep way less. If robots recharge as long as phone recharges(or even more since she's running on batteries compared to her intended full strength) she most likely "sleeps" for much longer(Car batteries take 24 hours to recharge) cause of sci-fi high tech battery stuff. I think she said she runs on solar power too but I can't find anything like that online.

Do you think Fink panicked when roz took so long to wake up? Brightbill was up for probably hours, do you think he woke up Fink when his mom didn't wake up after calling and pecking at her? Fink, knowing that big animals sleep for long periods of time compared to smaller animals, probably just took over parenting and took them out for food. They probably come back a few times and leave when they see she's still "asleep". Does fink start to panic but keeps a brave face when the sun set but Roz still wont wake up? Does he think(hope) she just went into hibernation at a weird time and they didn't tell them?

The relief they both felt was probably massive when Roz finally woke up, even if one of them hids it better under snarky comments about laziness and how it was unfair that he had to look over the runt without payment and how we should go fishing to pay for this unbearable crime.
