Thorin approached Bilbo trying to grasp onto him only for his hand to slide straight through him. His eyes widened even more. No! This wasn’t right! What kind of magic is this? Thorin met Bilbo’s eyes. Desperation against misery and vowed he would do whatever he could for their burglar. Before he could utter a word though, boots clamored down the steps towards them.

“Thorin! Are you okay?”

“We heard a shout!”

“We’re done here!” He called back. “We…Bilbo is…”

He decided not to finish that thought. They would find out for themselves soon enough after all. Dwalin was the first to reach him.

Tea did not seem to be the preferred drink of the Ereborians judging by the way they guzzled his ale. Although, there was a nice silver-haired one who preened over Bilbo’s camomile. Bilbo learned that their appetites could rival his own, and he frequently made trips into town to pick up more food. By the time he returned that evening, he was completely over having aliens in his home, on his planet for that matter.

“So why the Arkenstone?” Bilbo asked the older one who at least seemed courteous enough to have a conversation with.

Before he could answer Bilbo, the king interrupted with a sneer.
