I’ve being thinking for a while now to creat a character based on one of the Hamato lost sisters.

And as much as I like Frida’s idea of being big mama’s assistant- I was more drawn to the mysterious lost sister in another dimension

So I’ve started to design and develop her a bit (this is just first draft ideas)

She won’t be sharing the same universe as Yummi, because in this AU the movie never took place :) I’ll call it “the lost sisters” AU or something but only focus on Teri for the time being :)

She’s a blind flat back sea turtle , and her main story will revolve around Druxam

OH HEY LOOK ITS THE OTHER BROTHER SISTER SPLINTER MENTIONED

I am riding this trans sister headcanon full speed ahead. Especially bc it perfectly solves the inconsistencies between Ron and Andy (both mentioned a brother/sister). And bc I think it's silly to get another brother turtle boo

So here's my take on her if nickelodeon ever came up to me and asked me to design the second lost sister! She's based on a Suwannee snapping turtle. Tried my best to not make her look like a raph reskin. She has longer legs and shorter plastron compared to raph. But I def took inspo on his body type. We were missing bigger/wider shapes with the addition of Frida. Raph got lonely, so I made him a big sister. She is a couple inches taller than him. And yes I stole Venus's braided mask tails.

She needs an artist name and I'm open for suggestions. I'm headcanoning that people used to call her Spike bc of her appearance, but after meeting the bros and Frida, she chooses a different name for herself.

If I were in the writers room, I'd prob take what Ron said about the other lost sister; her being either isolated or banished somewhere which results in her coming off as "a little cray cray" and having a difficult time interacting with others. A little unhinged if you will but in a "I haven't had human interaction in years" with maybe a little no understanding of boundaries. But who knows, her personality and backstory could be anything since we have little info on the second lost sibling.

I pretty much made her in a couple hours so this is very much a first draft that I'm treating like a final one

Why, Frida?

This is random, but I haven’t seen it addressed so…

Why the heck does Frida have what seems to be two turtle shells on her shoulder?

Like was it just a hint from the writers that she was a turtle?

Did she kill turtles and keep their shells as trophies for some reason?

Is this just style and not seen as odd to her since she’s a “yokai” and not really a turtle?

Am I the only one that finds this strange?

I think it’s save to say that the turtle brothers were raised and trained with the intention that in a fight their priority is to protect themselves and their brothers while also not causing lethal damage to their opponent. We see this in several instances, like when Leo accidentally cuts Warren Stone in half everyone is visibly horrified or when they are chasing down Splinter and Meatsweats in their tank the other three don’t hesitate to step in when Donnie wants to use a weapon that would cause excessive harm and they don’t hide their displeasure about it to Donnie either.

I theorize that Frida would be the opposite of that. Why should she care if she causes serious injuries to her opponent? And if she does, good, another reminder why they shouldn‘t have gotten in her way in the first place. Dragging an unnecessary fight out for too long would mean losing precious time that could be spent completing her mission and, what, in favor of someone who just tried to bite her head off? I believe her mentality would be more along the lines of „Your first strike should be your last“.

Them joining forces in a fight would be interesting since it pretty much would be the brothers, who were taught to fight to protect not to cause harm, fighting alongside their sister Frida „killshots-only“ Hamato.

A bit of a hot take; I hope if Frida gets introduced properly with an official name, it will be something other than Frida?

(omg this rant became so long please read it tho i’m going insane)

I hope so because I feel like it would characterize her life (assumably) being raised by Big Mama a bit more, since her design tastes as we see through her hotel’s decor leans a lot towards old money art deco motifs combined with gothic architecture. I feel like Frida Kahlo’s primitivism and surrealism would be a bit out of character? Or at least a missed opportunity for some characterization.

(Okay maybe it’s not quite gothic but idc, let me speak-)

See here all the difference between Big Mama’s taste and Frida Kahlo’s paintings, I’m not saying she wouldn’t like her work, I just think that if Big Mama designs all her estates with such a clear creative vision & what seems to be her own personal tastes (*cough cough* old money ass fashion sense *cough cough*) I feel like she’d be more knowledgeable and/or more partial to a different area of the art world for Kahlo to be enough of her favorite to name her personal assistant/maybe I hope surrogate daughter after her?

I like to think if Big Mama named her after some artists she personally liked, I think she might lean more towards artists from the art deco scene like Tamara de Lempicka, or Sonia Delaunay.

Or maybe gothic architects could give her a name truer to the hidden city and battle nexus architecture that she’d’ve been surrounded by her whole life. All those gargoyles and sprawling jagged designs once you push past the illusion of Big Mama’s normal hotel front make such a dichotomy! Julia Morgan (the lady who designed California’s Hearst Castle which, “mixes Spanish Colonial, Gothic, Neo-Classical and Mediterranean Revival style all in one property.” I think that would be such a good combination of styles to reference with Big Mama’s choice on what to name this person omg) and Odile Decq are such pretty names!!

I love Odile Decq’s personal style and work on one particular building sm, the Phantom Restaurant of the Garnier Opera.

LIKE OMG THAT JUST SCREEAAAMMMS BIG MAMA, she would absolutely name a girl after the lady who’d design that and you cannot convince me otherwise. And Odile would fit in with “Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael” so well omg. And look at this woman, look at her style, she NEEDS a ninja turtle named after her omg.

And finally, a bit controversial but I never really liked the name Frida in the first place?

Don’t get me wrong, her work is legendarily meaningful and skillful. It’s just that in recent years, she’s been packaged and sold as this “girlboss feminist icon” because of her suffering, and because of that, her image in pop culture has kind of been watered down to the point where it feels like if they were to name her Frida, i’d think like, all the thought that went into it would be, “okay she’s a girl, what girl painters do we know?” Which (although well intentioned-) kinda feels like reverting back to stereotyping her as “the girl one” even though that’s what they were trying to avoid by not naming her Venus? If that makes sense? So I’m glad her name isn’t concrete yet lol.

And OMG I WANT HER NAME TO BE ODILE SO BAD NOW YOU DONT EVEN KNOW💖✨💝‼️✨ I only found her work literally as I was typing this but I just love that building and how much Big Mama would absolutely love that building, she needs to be named Odile, look at her face, that’s an Odile face <3

hello rise community, how do we feel about those lost turtle sisters, huh?

me and my friend @nokmietarchive may have spent like every other moment since the twitter q&a thinking about these two so i have decided to post some art for once, please enjoy :)!

Frida

Frida is of course Big Mama's assistant, an overly serious girl and the oldest turtle (though Raph is still the biggest lol). Hyper-competent with a lot of unresolved trauma regarding her relationship with her mother, she struggles to express her emotions in a healthy way well after leaving behind her white mask and black cloak. She was extremely reluctant to join the Mad Dogs after witnessing Leo's unserious behaviour, and struggles to connect with the boys.

Frida is skilled in many forms of armed and unarmed combat, and wields a Naginata. She's a sea turtle, her colour is ooze green, and her shape is diamonds! She has little diamond-shaped orangey scales beneath her mask.

Misc fun facts!:

We purposefully made Frida's face shape similar to that of BMA's mask, and her mask tails are similar to the shape of BMA's hood

She does not immediately move in with the Mad Dogs, who are all too loud and rowdy for her only-child-until-recently self

She and Georgia share a special, "messed up childhood" sort of bond that only two screwed up sisters can understand

She does still wear the pauldron from her BMA days, but I didn't want to draw them, lol, sorry...

Raph respects her, and is also a little scared of her

Georgia

Georgia, affectionately nicknamed Georgie by her brothers, is the littlest of the turtle siblings (though no one knows if she's any younger than Mikey). She spent her formative years trapped in an alternate dimension, surviving alone on a Kraang planet. Thankfully, her infancy with Baron Draxum prepared her to survive even the harshest environments! Unfortunately, her survival didn't come without some small sacrifices...

Georgie is a scrappy survivalist - wielding twin Kama, she's opportunistic and unpredictable in a fight, and has perfected the ninja art of disappearing. She's a diamondback terrapin, her colour is Kraang-blood magenta, and her shape is droplets! She has three white spots on either side of her eyes, and swirl patterns on her carapace.

Misc fun facts!:

She will chew on anything if given the opportunity, including her own hands and plastron.

She has a Donnietech Hypoallergenic Antibacterial Complex Polymer G-Grade Plastrochew Plate (Silentchew™ edition) that was developed specially for her.

Her favourite food of all time is anything leafy and/or green - cabbage, lettuce, whatever. Just whole heads of the stuff.

Having her and Draxum in the same room is detrimental to his health. She's fine though.

She is very easily overstimulated and overwhelmed by large crowds and the bustle of the city.

The lost sister our boys never got. She’s in the first episode! Blink and you’ll miss her. We were robbed. The creators talked about the boys finding their sisters in season 3. I’m so pissed. 😤😩😭

Our girl who was stuck for years in another dimension has a very small understanding of jokes and sarcasm- or finds very odd things funny (think like StarFire from teen titans)

I added some freckles to mimic stars on her skin with the moon spot on her forehead ✨🌕✨

She’s slightly taller then Mikey but shorter then Leo and Donnie :)

Also I realized the flatbacks are kinda soft shell lol

What if I…?

Big Mama turns to retrieve an item from her desk then returns to lower it to Jennika’s front. In her hands is a white mask with red, sharp eye slits and thin line markings mimicking sharp teeth. Below the mask sits dark-colored attire folded neatly into a square.

Jennika looks at the mask then up at Big Mama, curiosity evident in her expression as she outstretches her hands.

Big Mama placed the mask in Jennika’s hands as she said, “This is for those dreadful stripes of yours, my turtley-boo.”

Jennika forced her shoulders to remain in their place, but hearing those words from her mother hurt. She thought her stripes were unique, she thought they were pretty, she thought Big Mama liked them too.

But if this was the price for Big Mama’s affection, then she will gladly hide her face away forever.

And what if…?

Venus trembles before the spider yokai, but her hardened gaze doesn’t falter—not even when the woman leans forward to cup a thumb and finger under the young turtle’s chin to look up. Her gaze doesn’t break as Big Mama forces her to look left and right, up and down.

Big Mama’s hand jerks Venus away, almost shoving the musk turtle away.

“How would you like to earn your dues?” Big Mama asks as she steps back and looks around the shack. Her expression shows she’s not at all amused by the decor—or lack thereof.

Venus watches Big Mama with a cautious eye, setting aside her comic to give the spider yokai her full attention.

“Jenny wants me to stay home,” Venus reminds Big Mama. Her fist tightens at her side, urging herself to remember Jennika’s words that are ingrained into her mind.

Big Mama spins on her heel, the smile on her face more skin-crawling than before.

“But is that what you want, Small One?”

For now this idea sits in my drafts as Estranged, but I still need to do my “research” on these two before anything is set and stone. It’s hard to find info on their characters that won’t lead to me diving deep into IDW and forgetting what I originally came for.

I have a synopsis written out for this idea but it’s still a work in progress.

Anyways, for now it’s Painted Turtle Jennika and Eastern Musk Turtle Venus.

The New (and improved) Camille Reference!!!

Cami is a Galapagos Tortoise with albinism, which would put her as being much bigger than Raph buuuut she was a bit of a sickly child and experienced a major lack of nutrients bc of stuff so she’s currently about Mikey height!

Spider’s Web Widens Masterpost

Anything I may have said before about Cami could be completely different now… she really went through it… But EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE on the one hand I didn’t think I’d get this done so fast but on the other I’m having a bunch of ideas and the inability to have unfinished wips so I should’ve expected this. I actually really like how she turned and while I will miss old Cami design (rip forever) and definitely prefer the new one, for now at least.

I’ve never read the idw comics but her look was inspired somewhat by Lita from that. I’d figured out I wanted her color to be pink so I figured I’d incorporate that more in her design.

Also I just scripted the animatic that is gonna introduce her part of the story and OOOOOOH BOY am I excited ^^ I’m a huge fan of Draxum as a parent so you may be able to deduce how that’s gonna start nyehehe and you know feel free to ask me any questions bc as you can see I’m feeling chatty and would love to talk about girly or anything else tbh

Bit of hindsight: Back when the Ooze was still in Beta, Draxum experimented different formulas on test subjects before nailing the right combination that granted sentiency in new mutants (in season 2, the Yokai in the lab look and act animal-like. He needed mutants with human intelligence to train them as soldiers).

OC was the successful test subject from which Draxum refined the Ooze ‘s formula before mutating the turtles from Lou Jitsu’s DNA. They were never meant to be a fighter, but Draxum kept them around as an assistant before Huginn and Muninn came in for the hard jobs.

Lou escapes with the turtles and takes OC along, and Splinter raises them with the turtles.

Anyways: *frees Raph from Eldest Daughter Syndrome and dumps it on OC* Here you go, my child. Be free.
