Since everyone is really into Galizia and Venus this week in my notes, I thought I'd share some reference pages I made for them a while back. Just for a little extra trivia! 😉

**Side note: I still don't really know which sea turtle Venus is or her age, so feel free to speculate. I am kind of leaning towards oldest sibling and Kemp Ridley, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ any is good.

Why, Frida?

This is random, but I haven’t seen it addressed so…

Why the heck does Frida have what seems to be two turtle shells on her shoulder?

Like was it just a hint from the writers that she was a turtle?

Did she kill turtles and keep their shells as trophies for some reason?

Is this just style and not seen as odd to her since she’s a “yokai” and not really a turtle?

Am I the only one that finds this strange?

rise donnie is more confused by the donatello touch than he is by 87 donnie making a trans-dimesnional portal out of things he found in 1980s dumpsters

I don’t know about you guys but I’ve been think about this yesterday, I feel like the rat that Lou Jitsu had with him might be the boys long lost brother. He may also be the Rat King too.

The reason is because of 2003 tmnt, in the series Hamato Yoshi trained an ordinary rat later became a mutant rat. Splinter always love Yoshi as a father and a master. It would make sense that the Rise boys will have a rat brother. He was there when his dad was in the battle Nexus as well when he was captured. So he more likely mutanted in the same ooze that mutated his siblings. Which makes him biologically Splinter’s son. There’s a possibility that he bit Lou Jitsu out of jealousy because he loved his turtle siblings more than him and will later become the Rat King.

That’s my theory, but what do you think?

It’s funny that when the turtle siblings ever got reunited there would be four boys raised in the sewers, a girl who was stranded alone in another dimension for who knows how long and a girl from Uptown Manhattan.

I wonder what that living dynamic would have looked like.

We know that the brothers don’t care for cleanliness (except maybe Donnie) like shown in Shelldon‘s debut episode and we see that Splinter doesn’t really properly discipline them or taught them how to keep their space clean, when we see that he only steps in to tell them to clean up when the mess has already become unmanageable.

Meanwhile I dare to doubt that the cooky sister, who would have been raised by Draxum for a while, would have much of a sense for cleanliness either. Since Draxum‘s plan was for the turtles to be raised as warriors I doubt he would have taken the time to teach her anything beyond that, besides we‘ve all seen Draxum‘s kitchen in the episode „Mystery Meat“. Also I doubt that one would care much about keeping a space clean when you are trapped in another dimension and slowly descending into madness.

As a stark contrast to that we would have Frida/Big Mama‘s assistant who would have been raised by Big Mama and we all know how much Big Mama cares about keeping up appearances. I picture her as the kind of parent that would criticize you over the way you hold your knife at dinner and makes you sit down until you get it right.

So now imagine all of the above sharing a living space. I can see smoke coming out of Donnie‘s lab and cartons of pizza laying around everywhere. I can see Frida chasing Leo around the lair yelling at him to do his goddamn laundry. I can see cooky sis (Camille) laying out a collection of her favorite rocks everywhere, where people trip over them all the time, and I can see Raph picking them up and putting them aside when she isn’t looking so that no one would hurt themselves.

They would be such siblings!

Also a small ramble, but I like to imagine AMVs in my head and sometimes it do be turtles and I absolutely imagine the lost sibling (Camille or the Unnamed Brother) to be vibing in the dimension they’ve been trapped in to this song

It would be along the lines of:

Them unintentionally reaching out to the turtles through their gadgets (maybe over a broadcast of one of Splinter’s shows) - 0 to 25 secs

Two of the turtles along with Draxum trying to find a way to them as Oh no the dimension is closing or something (sibling will be lost forever soon if not rescued asap) - 26 to 47 secs

Sibling vibing in the dimension (probably floating around) and reminiscing of them in the OG dimension with Frida, Draxum and eventually being sent into the unknown. Maybe they get their rescue mission confused with these memories - 48 secs to 1:06 mins

Them getting pulled from the Dimension to safety with them holding onto Draxum who sent them in this world in the first place (Oh, Creator, Please don’t leave me waiting) - 1:07 to 1:24 mins

Them laid on their back, turtle brothers and Draxum nearby as they experience the ground for the first time. Breathe in actual air in the first time in years and they’re able to feel the world around them and see that their rescuers were real. And Probably cries due to how long it’s been of not feeling - 1:24 to 1:55 mins

Big Mama's Assistant who was heavily implied to be one of the turtles missing sister, having a mask that resembles Kabuki Theater face paint foreshadowing her story, in that red was for passionate, young warriors and heroic characters (one of the writers said that she was to be a ninja so serious it was funny ) and the arched lines from the eyes were for noble and serious heros and the mouth like lines where usually for non -human characters I've seen that kind of fanged mouth on demon characters etcetera send tweet I'll edit in my photographic evidence later

does rottmnt donnie dislike touch?

i have rewatched all of rottmnt and am ending this debacle once and for all (at least for me lol)

based on the two seasons, the movie and the comics (tho the comics don't really bring anything to this conversation) i think i have the answer to one of the more controversial topics in this fandom

(no, it's not the yuichi vs usagi debate, usagi obviously wins that no sweat)

so, does donnie dislike touch?

in the series, he is shown being fairly touchy with his siblings throughout the series, with some exceptions i will try to list now, tho not with proper episode names as i am not looking them up, sorry not sorry:

pilot episode, captured by draxum in a cacoon with mikey he's visibly uncomfortable and tries to get away

mikey's solo mission, he doesn't look at any of the and in response to a hug he pats mikey's head with a metal arm from his battle shell.

glued together, he's showing visible discomfort at being forced into close (touching) proximity of his brothers, tho that discomfort is somewhat elevated when they do a second go-round after the sticky foam ball got crushed

that time splinter caught everyone in a trap hanging in the lair (i think it's the forest survival episode?), he's, again, uncomfortable and the first to find a solution to their entrapment, be it on his phone

there's probably more, but that's what i remember from the series and spread out on about 60 episodes it's noticeable, but not a deciding factor, especially since donnie's also seen being fine with touch. now, the movie offers us even more of a look into donnie's relationship with touch. this list will include every instance presented i can think of, in no particular order.

during leo and raph's fight after they lost the key, donnie jumps on raph's back in an attempt to stop him from advancing in the fight, as mikey tries to shield leo. it's a very quick decision and doesn't seem to particularly trouble donnie.

after the kraang come through the portal and the turtles escape-pod out, mikey's panicking and grabbing cj, also causing him distress. donnie grabs mikey under his arms like a plushie and is shown to carry him until leo gets back with a panic attack and news of raph, upon which leo starts at cj with a fight in mind and donnie and mikey keep him away. again, no distress is coming off of donnie, no more than the regular situation call for (although he gets more logic-minded and quiet as the movie goes on with only small donnie moments breaking it up, which seems to be how he reacts to stress, but that'll be in another fever post)

he's touching mikey sometimes during the subway battle, but it's most likely he either didn't notice or didn't care, considering everything else happening in that fight (ps the kraang train is my favorite villainous entity in the franchise, give me more of the kraang train and i will give you my soul)

he's shown very visibly having sensory issues (very relatable) throughout the whole movie because of the kraang. not necessarily to do with touch, oh except for the part when he had to get EATEN BY THE TECHNODROME THROUGH HIS BARELY TOUCHED AT ALL SOFT SHELL which is shown to be a sensory nightmare and awful to touch and yes, i had night terrors if that, thank you very much.

at the very end, they all hug with no visible problems except for the fact that they are on staten island. that is to say, there's one important scene still, it happens before the end, but i wanted to have space to gush about it so here we go.

the famous scene of raph grabbing donnie and mikey flying through the air, yelling "don't worry donnie, it's not a hug, it's a rescue". probably the most important thing said in accordance to donnie's relationship with touch.

in my personal opinion, donnie doesn't mask (i mean look at his behavior) or if he does, he does it, rarely in public and even rarer with just his brothers. so every one of the hamato clan knows at least the most important of donnie's boundaries, especially related to the autism, as it's handled well within their family structure (both donnie's and mikey's autism is) . so, if raph calls out to him to warn about the hug he's giving donnie and treats it like a potential bad thing, there are really only two conclusions we can get to.

one, donnie doesn't like/hates physical contact. disputed by just about everything else in the show, except for the listed above exceptions.

two, donnie being open to touch or not is conditional. and considering the mentioned exceptions and raph's rescue from the movie, there's one similarity we can notice between them.

the touch affecting donnie is happening without his consent and without a form of escape.

(except for when donnie's hugged by mikey in his solo mission episode, but considering he's already kind of detached, i'm assuming he's just not up to it and so he uses his robotic extra arms to give comfort instead of ignoring his little brother which aww)

that's the uncomfortable part, the unpredictability and lack of a way to detach himself. aka, donnie's just like me for real. lmao.

donnie probably doesn't mind touch and welcomes it, but needs to be in control of the process and be able to leave if he gets overwhelmed. and his family knows that, hence raph's words in the movie that led so many people astray...

this might just be another evidence of how well donnie is written as an autistic character, both with his low empathy not being demonized and not preventing him from creating bonds (tho sometimes making it difficult) and the fact that the most common opinion of autistic people (that they hate touch, which is something a psychiatrist brought up as evidence of me not being autistic) doesn't apply to everyone.

as a summary, rottmnt donnie is probably the best version of donnie right now and he doesn't hate touching, he just has to touch on his own terms. extremely valid, extremely relatable.

Future Frida

So, I’m sure we all know how Casey’s overall design is very turtles inspired.

Leo is seen in the blue armor and the mask stripes, Donnie is seen in the purple shoulder thing and in his gadgets/ genius built apparel, Mikey is seen in the knee pads, and maybe some Raph influence with the arm bandages (but most theorize that Casey never really knew Raph, and I think I agree but still).

I believe, however, that during the Q&A with Ron Corcillo it was said that it was likely that Frida would team up with the turtles in the apocalyptic future (I only saw the Q&A through screenshots so please correct me if I’m wrong). This is further solidified in the fact that during the future scene at the beginning of the movie, there’s a shot of a dead Big Mama who was assuredly part of the Kraang resistance with the turtles and died fighting (maybe I’m just making assumptions but this works for me so I’ve accepted it as truth hahaha).

So then, how would we know if Frida really did have an influence on Casey? Well, going back to the outfit thing they do have a similarity.

White mask with red markings? Interesting choice, Casey… (and yeah I know the markings are from Leo but still why so similar to Frida?)

(Oh, and if his mask has been explained a different way in canon and I just forgot about it, let’s just ignore that hahaha)

Ok, so here's what I gathered from the 40th anniversary ROTTMNT comic:

This isn't the original apocalyptic timeline; this is either a timeline where they succeeded in beating the Krang during the apocalypse (aka the Good Future), or the canon future timeline after the end of the movie (that will inevitably change bc of this intervention)

Everyone still dresses in their apocalypse fits in a non-apocalyptic future for some reason

Mikey's expedited aging due to his magic must be an inevitability no matter what's going on in the future 😔

If the movie takes place in 2020, then Splinter canonically dies of some illness 4 years after the movie (would be have died in later seasons??)

Renet is canon in rise, and she's Mikey's mentor?? Or maybe just an ally they met that helped him with his magic?? (why isn't Barry teaching him? He's alive)

The comic ends with "Hard Pause" instead of the typical "The End"; this story gave us closure for what we lost and for what could've been, jic this really is the last time we see these guys, but the show's not technically over so there's always hope that it could return some day

ROTTMNT Curiosities Part.5

The ideas of making and ending the series through IDW comic would be easy to do

Wedding Smashers: Ghostbear marries his fiancé Ghostpepper, a Chupacabra yokai. Raph and Mikey crash their wedding dressed as their aliases Shadybug and Dr. Rude.

Dog Dale Afternoon: April finds out that Baba Yaga cursed Dale to be a werewolf, but he doesn't know what's happening to him, Donnie shows up to “help him,” and be his doctor.

Shred Dead Redemption: Screenwriter Sheldon Vella shared the first board of his showing the brothers chasing the cupcake van called Fire and Icing in Turtle Tank. Unfortunately, a piece of cardboard (Donnie's cloaking device) blocking the front windshield causes the Tank to crash gracelessly into a Lou Jitsu poster.

Warren Stone 2: Warren Stone is cut in half again, but this time the lower half of him becomes a different Warren sporting a beard and shaved head. Warren Stone II ends up becoming a competent and dangerous enemy for the turtles. Realizing that Warren is upset, Warren II has taken his title of "The Turtles' Greatest Enemy", April helps Warren regain his charm.

Gourd Almighty: A comedic episode about Donnie trying to grow the world's largest pumpkin for a contest.

T-Hex: It was going to be about Mikey wanting a robotic toy with a "boopable snoot." After getting the toy he turns out to be not as innocent as he seems.

Lost Goat: Draxum leaves after having a fight with the family (Turtles and Splinter). As he does so, he is abducted by the foot. While trying to rescue Draxum, the family has no choice but to resolve their issues regarding him.

Goyles just wants to have fun: Huggin and Muggin are confused when they find Draxum working in a school cafeteria. Draxum asks Leo and Donnie to help improve his image so as not to lose the respect he once had for the Goyles.

Rampaging Raph: Raph comes to Draxum for help after getting trapped in his enormous mystical form. He is ashamed of not having mastered his mystical powers like his brothers. Draxum ends up splitting Raph and his mystical power, which then becomes a problem when the Red Hulk turns red and begins crushing the city, getting stronger with each hit. To save the city, Raph has to confess and ask his brothers for help.

The Island of Dr. Noe: Hunter/dentist Dr. Noe kidnaps Raph and Leo and takes them to his home island. The doctor wants Raph's tooth in his tooth collection.

Toddler Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mikey becomes the oldest when his siblings turn into little turtles after being attacked by an immortal mutant jellyfish bank robber. 163.There is a small chance that Such TMNT and Rise exist at the same time. 164.Production ties were a little over a year from premise. About 8 weeks from premise to draft record, about 12 for a storyboard, 8 for final animation, with design happening all the time. 6 months for full animation, music, etc. 165. You always interacted a lot with the design team when writing 166.Here is the board with the episodes of the series (in season 2), although some are jokes 167.Although Netflix supported Rise for the movie, it is not Ron or Russ's decision whether the series will continue or not, but they want it to continue supporting 168. Tmnt facts that are canon cause i said so:

All Leo's are sci-fi fans of varying degrees of old sci-fi series/movies

But MM!Leo thinks the old movies are old and thus has no major franchise to obsess over, he is just big into any of the more modern movies of the genre: I'm thinking Interstellar, Blade Runner, idk many more. And then he started watching Final Space and eventually got into Futurama.

But he still would think the other Leo's are old and a bit lame for enjoying old anime so much.

All the Donnie's and Leo's are the musical fans, but that doesn't mean that Raph and Mikey can't enjoy a musical too! Especially 2003!Raph who grew up watching shit like high school musical and teen beach movie with Leo and Donnie.

The 2003 boys all teamed up to sit on Mikey and tape Mikey's mouth shut cause he would dramatically and badly sing the songs otherwise.

2018 crew are hard into Hamilton of course while 2012 have a knock off version of it that flopped but Mikey loves.

2003 have a musical version of Lost Boys and Faries that could possibly be comparable with some rap songs and some emotional ballads.

Bayverse and MM have batman while 2018 have a weird mixture of some irl media and some really obvious knock offs. 2012 has Wingnut and Silber sentry as comics to replace Marvel and DC in their universe and we all know how 2003 is on superheroes.

All the Mikey's are naturally talented at drawing apart from 2012 who's skills apparently just got transferred to literally every single one of his siblings.

2012!Mikey's writing looks like chickenscratch and his drawings are chaotic in an abstract art kinda way, while 12!Leo can draw anime, 12!Karai is decent at drawing anything reallt, 12!Donnie preffers skatching items and backgrounds rather than people and 12!Raph is the one who does art the most in the fam.

The 1987 turtles are stuck in 1987 and have been since 1987. They like crossovers for the change of pace but 87!Raph and 87!Donnie very much dislike how other turtles have treated them in the past so take any and ever chance to fuck with their alternates in retaliation, feigning innocence well enough that they keep getting away with blatantly insulting their iterations to their face.

Leo is the tea drinker in the family across iterations but most of the iterations don't drink coffee - rottmnt gets into coffee wars (sans Leo and Splinter) but other than that 2007!Donnie and Bayverse!Raph are the only rabid coffee drinkers.

most of the Donnies drink energy drinks if they want a caffeine boost - the nonbinaries and their Monster especially.

The MM kids aren't allowed coffee because Splinter read a watched of child-raising YouTube videos and banned it. Of course that doesn't stop them from sneaking out. MM!Donnie is trying to convince him to allow coffee while MM!Raph just sneaks in his energy drinks.

2003!Casey was convinced the turtles were adults for at LEAST the first month into their friendship.

The ampunt Mikey wears stickers is directly proportional to the amount of leeway Splinter gives him - with the used-to-be-human Splinters being more strict on not personalising his weapon while the used-to-be-rat Splinters such as MM gives the go ahead.

The outlines of this rule are 03!Splinter and 18!Splinter of course who have entirely different ways of handling their adhd child.

And then there is bayverse!Splinter who said fuck the stickers, yes of course my 15-year-old children can have tattoos.

(And yes I firmly believe they were 15 in the first movie, and I attribute their tattoos to Splinter not really seeing the harm in it, or caring much as long as it won't hurt them.)

18!Leo is biologically the eldest but no one knows this apart from Draxum who will never tell at this point. Splinter aged them based on size.

On the other hand, 03!Leo is the biological youngest but only Donnie knows this (science shit to find it out) and will never tell anyone because he found out that 03!Mikey hatched first and that information can never be allowed to get to the turtle in question.

2012 Casey is transfem but doesn't know it yet and 2018 Casey is what 12!Casey will look like at 20.

All Donnie's watch anime and all Mikey's watch horror movies - despite how much they may or may not scream at the horror movies.

07!Mikey sells art online and 07!Leo becomes a language tutor in their 20's. Ironic as 12!Raph attempts to sell art online but becomes too emotionally attached to his work and 12!Donnie attempts to tutor for a time but is a terrible teacher.

Leo is a basketball or baseball fan, Raph likes wrestling and basketball, Donnie will partake in basketball or volleyball and Mikey prefers dancing but is open to playing anything... just not watching.

Splinter always watched the tennis, becuase his grandmother did. Leo likes to put it on but doesn't like playing it.

Mikey will forever be confused why the others enjoy watching sport. This stemms from when he was 12 and trying to watch his cartoons and Splinter would always take control of the TV during the Olympics. Mikey is still very salty and has an agenda against the Olympics and any other big sports match on their communal TV.

All the Leo's before 2012 just didnt use the Internet or any electronics as a kid and thus struggles with electronics massively.

Conversely 2012 and 2018 Leo were both on tumblr as kids and read fanfic about Space Heros and Jupiter Jim respectively.

And in addition: Donnie was on the Internet far too much as a kid.

(12!Donnie will never tell but 12!Mikey befriending Chris Bradford on Facebook hit a bit too close to home.)

After Don, Raph is the best at mechanics, other than 18!Raph who is kinda shit at them.

Splinter taught all of the turtles first aid but Raph and Mikey are patched up the most by the other two, which leads to the other two being more confident and skilled at first aid.

Leo's first aid experience is very much similar to an army medic, using improvisation based on his prior knowledge without any of the proper hospital procedure while Donnie's is much more based on his research into medicine and thus much more clinical.

The outliers are the 18!kids cause Donnie finds biological shit kinda disgusting unless he HAS to do it.

And then there is the 87!turtles who don't really get hurt for longer than an episode's run time. Despite this every single one of them are able to accurately and skillfully carry out any medical procedure should the need arise becuase cartoon logic and convenience. It is a skill they have and its usually 87!Donnie ordering them about while 87!Raph plays nurse.

Mikey and Raph spray paint together sometimes in all iterations other than 87.

87!Mikey and 87!Leo have never kmowingly committed a crime.

Mikey looks up to Leo most out of his siblings, and Leo would look up to Mikey in turn if he could get over the jealousy towards his youngest brother.

There is not a single itteration where Leo doesn't sometimes kinda wish he could be more like Mikey - he has never voiced these feelings and hates that he feels this jealousy.

If you wake Leo up from sleeping he will be alert, a bit grumpy about it, but will never turn you away. He rarely gets a full good night's sleep anyways, ans becuase of this he is prime target to bother when he is awake... up until they turn 14 where Leo gets into the habit of pretending to be asleep so Mikey doesn't bother him and starts meditating until he falls asleep.

The prior headcannon excludes rottmnt and mutant mayhem.

Mikey starts bothering Donnie more and joins him in the lab late at night a lot.

If you dare to disturb Raph's beauty sleep you will get a pillow to the face and a shouting to at the least.

Everyone of the turtles loves Kung Fu Panda or whatever similar movie exists in their world. They won't admit it but its because Poe reminds them of Mikey.

Raph maintains that he doesn't like physical contact much to get out of hugging the sweaty humans in his life. He is actually fairly chill with hugs he just hates the feeling of sweat on his scales so much, and learnt that the hard way when Casey brought him in for a hug after a fight and he shoved him off and blustered a bit. But any of his siblings hugging him is fine, he only ever shoves them off out of annoyance.

Donnie is the least huggy turtle, but he will sometimes lean his full body weight on April - which is fine in most iterations but some cannot handle the weight, I'm looking at Bayverse.
