Beginner Witch's Guide: Crystals
Today's witchy lesson is on crystals! Specifically, crystal shapes and their meanings, types of crystals and their meanings, and what you can use crystals for in your practice!
---
Basic Crystals and Their Meanings:
Clear Quartz -> Clear quartz is known for its ability to amplify intention and magnify the energy of other stones around it
Selenite -> Selenite is good for cleansing and purifying the area and objects around it
Amethyst -> Amethyst provides a peaceful and relaxing energy
Carnelian -> Carnelian is known for boosting creative energy and allowing for better creative flow
Rose Quartz -> Rose quartz is known for supporting and amplifying love of all kinds (self love, romantic love, platonic love, etc.)
Pyrite -> Pyrite (also known as 'Fool's Gold') is known for drawing in success and fortune
Obsidian -> Obsidian sucks in negative energy from the surrounding space providing protection from unwanted energies and negativity
---
Crystal Shapes and Meanings:
Cube -> Cube shaped crystals are often tied to grounding and would be good to use during meditation or meditative spellwork.
Sphere -> Sphere shaped crystals are thought to be more balanced with the energy they emit, splitting it evenly in all directions. They are good to use in grounding work (like meditation) or for protective spells/energy.
Pyramids -> Pyramid shaped crystals are most commonly associated with the idea of communing with celestial bodies or with the universe. Pyramid shaped crystals would be beneficial to use in deity worship or working with deities for spellwork.
Tower/Point -> Tower and point shaped crystals are known to amplify intention and point it in a certain direction. In my opinion, they are the most universally helpful shape and so can be used for a variety of spells.
Palm Stones -> Palm Stones are flat disks of stone that can be placed in one's palm and are often used to provide soothing energy. When placed in the palm they can be rubbed to provide therapeutic relief in moments of anxiety.
Cluster -> A cluster is a mix between a sphere and a point. The energy is emitted in all directions, but not evenly. They are most beneficial for spells and powers you want amplified, but don't need to be even or concentrated in one particular area.
---
General Crystal Tips:
When purchasing crystals, make sure the ones you are buying are coming from reputable, ethical sources and are actual crystals!
Before letting any crystal come in contact with the sun or with water, make sure it is safe to do. Some crystals are known to leech harmful chemicals or elements into water when submerged while some will just erode away in minutes. Some crystals can also fade if left in direct sunlight for a long time (amethyst is one of these so keep that in mind!)
If you do not like working with crystals, think something works better for you than crystals, or simply are just not interested in working with crystals, they are not necessary for the craft! Crystals (like any other witchy tool) are optional but can not only provide useful energies or attributes, but also just look super cool and are great to put on altars or in spaces around your home!
---
Well, that's all for my beginners guide to crystals! There are so many more crystals out there with their own unique shapes, attributes and energies that I suggest going and doing more research as you start to collect crystals! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out, I love talking to people and love making new friends <3
Valete my friends! :3

THE MORRIGAN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHO IS SHE?
The Morrigan is a triple goddess from Irish mythology who is associated with war, fate, and sovereignty. According to myth, she is often depicted as a crow or raven, and is said to appear in both a positive and negative guise, sometimes as a nurturing mother and other times as a destructive force. She is said to be the phantom queen of the Danaan People, the ancestral spirits of Ireland, and is sometimes depicted as a powerful seer or prophetic figure.
BASIC INFO:
Appearance: the Morrigan is often depicted as a fierce and powerful woman wearing a long, flowing black cloak or gown, and sometimes with feathers or a crown of feathers. She is also commonly associated with a black crow, which is said to be her messenger and the vessel of her power. Her appearance is usually associated with darkness and mystery, embodying the enigma and unpredictability of war and fate.
Personality: she has a complex and multi-faceted personality, often embodying multiple aspects of femininity. She is said to encompass aspects of the traditional maiden, mother, and crone archetypes, representing youthful zeal, maternal nurturing, and wise counsel, respectively. She is also known for her vengeful and bloodthirsty streak, embodying the brutal and ruthless nature of war and the chaos of fate. Despite her fierce and sometimes fearsome reputation, she is also viewed as a powerful protector and defender of the Irish people.
Symbols: cloak, spear, chariot, sword, and shield
Goddess of: magic, war, battle, life, death, sovereignty, fresh water, destiny, prophecy, and fate
Culture: Celtic
Plants and trees: willow, aspen, rowan, snapdragon, hawthorn, yew, belladonna, mugwort, rose, and nightshade (do not consume, handle with care!)
Crystals: ravenite, yeomanite, schorl, arsenopyrite, harlequin opal, black opal, skye marble, pyrolusite, biotite, feldspar, black agate, hematite, smoky quartz, bloodstone, onyx, charoite, black obsidian, labradorite, shungite, and black tourmaline
Animals: crow, raven, horse, eel, rook, serpent, and wolf
Incense: frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, rose, cedar, juniper, and dragon’s blood
Practices: death witchcraft, spirit work, divination, shadow work, ancestor worship, psychic abilities, and necromancy
Colours: red, black, white, blue, and green
Numbers: 3 and 6
Zodiac: Scorpio
Tarot: The High Priestess, The Tower, Queen of Swords, The Devil, Justice, and Death
Planet: Moon
Days: Monday, Imbolc, Lammas, Mabon, Samhain, Halloween, and full moons
Parents: Cailitin and Ernmas
Siblings: Ériu, Banba, Fódla, Gnim, Coscar, Fiacha, and Oll
Partner: The Dagda and an unnamed shapeshifting goddess
Children: Mechi
MISC:
Crows and ravens: the Morrigan is often associated with crows or ravens due to her nature as a deity of death, fate, and transformation. In Irish mythology, crows or ravens were often seen as messengers between the worlds of the living and the dead, and could be seen as omens of impending change or transformation. For the Morrigan, these birds served as her messengers and helped her carry out her duties as a deity of war, fate, and the supernatural. Additionally, the Morrigan herself was sometimes depicted as a crow or raven in the form of a woman.
Death: she is often associated with death because she is seen as a deity of fate and transformation, which can include death and rebirth. In Irish mythology, she is often depicted as a battle goddess who wields a spear or sword, and is seen as a bringer of violence and change. She is also associated with the concept of death as a natural and inevitable part of life, and is sometimes seen as a guide for the souls of the dead as they cross over to the afterlife.
War: in Irish mythology, she was often seen as a fierce and powerful warrior, who would appear in the form of a crow or raven to guide and aid the soldiers of the Tuatha de Danann, a group of gods and mythological beings. She was often invoked by soldiers in order to bring them victory in battle and could also be seen as a symbol of the chaos and destruction that can occur during war.
Triple goddess: she is often associated with the triple goddess archetype due to her connection with the number three and her role as a goddess of transformation and female empowerment. In Celtic mythology, the number three was often seen as sacred and powerful, and the Morrigan is sometimes depicted as embodying these three aspects of femininity: maiden, mother, and crone. This association reflects her nature as a powerful and multifaceted deity who encompasses the different phases of a woman's life, from youth and fertility to wisdom and maturity.
Samhain: in Celtic mythology, Samhain is believed to be a time when the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead becomes thin, allowing the spirits of the deceased to return to the world of the living. The Morrigan, as a goddess of death and transformation, is seen as playing an important role during this time, guiding and assisting the souls of the dead on their journey to the afterlife.
Magic: was seen as a powerful force that could wield the energy and power of these natural forces, and the Morrigan was often invoked as a source of magical power and insight during certain rituals and spells. Additionally, the Morrigan is sometimes depicted as a sorcerous figure in some myths, casting spells or curses and using her supernatural abilities to influence events on the mortal plane.
FACTS ABOUT THE MORRIGAN:
She owns a herd of enchanted and magical cattle.
Contrary to some interpretations, the Morrigan is not necessarily seen as an evil or destructive deity. In many myths, she is depicted as a protective and wise figure who aids and guides heroes on their journeys.
She is sometimes portrayed as a shape-shifter, able to take on the form of a crow or other animals.
The Morrigan is often associated with the number three, representing the three aspects of maiden, mother, and crone.
She is also associated with the Fae and the Banshee—a creature that generally takes on the form of an old woman who wails in mourning to announce the coming death of someone in the family.
The name "Morrigan" comes from Old Irish and means "phantom queen" or "great queen."
She is often associated with ravens or crows, which were seen as her messengers between the worlds of the living and the dead.
The Morrigan is known for appearing in the form of a woman with long, flowing hair, sometimes carrying a spear and/or a shield.

When I think of Pink and Rose, I always sort of thought of her as a cautionary tale about what can happen when you have really dangerously low self esteem. And also the environment that can create that situation and the toxicity that can emerge from that environment.
—Rebecca Sugar, Q&A The Art of Steven Universe
[Image description] Five gifs of Steven Universe scenes lined up one after another.
The first gif is a close-up of Rose Quartz’s face from the episode “Now We are Only Falling Apart”. She seems sorrowful and her eyes glisten as she speaks. The yellow subtitles say: “When I think of Pink and Rose,”
The second gif shows Pink Diamond’s profile side with her head down. It’s the from episode “Can’t Go Back”. Only her dark outline is visible against a very light background; there are no details, she’s merely a shadow. She raises her head and opens her mouth to say something, looking up to Blue Diamond. Blue is out of frame. She immediately interrupts Pink by lifting her much larger hand in front of Pink’s face, which is the only visible part of Blue’s body (her hand is twice as big as Pink’s face). Pink pauses and lowers her head again, looking down at the ground. The yellow subtitles say: “I always sort of thought of her as a cautionary tale”
The third gif is from “Change Your Mind”. It shows Pink Diamond looking up to someone who’s beyond the frame. She’s in the tower the Diamonds would lock her in when they wanted to punish her. Her facial expression is sad, regretful. She lowers her head and closes her eyes. A single tear falls from her right eye. She opens her eyes again, looking down at the ground. The subtitles say: “about what can happen when you have really dangerously low self esteem.”
The fourth gif shows Stevonnie dressed in Pink Diamond’s clothes in the episode “Together Alone”. One of Yellow Diamond’s hand hold them by the middle of their body, lifting them up from the ground and taking them out of frame. The frame goes black and then the shape of light pouring out of a opening door is visible on the ground. Stevonnie is brusquely thrown on said ground. The subtitles say: “And also the environment that can create that situation”
The fifth gif starts with a close-up of Stevonnie’s hand in the “Jungle Moon” flashback. There is a mirror in front of them and their reflection shows Pink Diamond instead of Stevonnie. Their hand is clenched in fist as it trembles. Then the frames pulls out to show Pink’s reflection in the mirror in its entirety; at first, her face is shadowed. She pulls her arm back and punches the mirror, shattering her own reflection. Her face becomes visible: her teeth is bared in a snarl and her brows are furrowed in anger. It’s an ugly, raw expression. The subtitles say: “and the toxicity that can emerge from that environment.” [End ID]

Tumblr media
As I am a fellow enthusiast of pink things and an overanalyzing sap who got too deep in a Steven Universe box set marathon, I am feeling things about this giant rosy space goddess again. Specifically, I am hung up on just how good the character design is for both phases of Pink’s/Rose’s existence.
(Ramble below)
For reference, let’s look at them as-is in the show.
Tumblr media
Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz may come from the same color palette, but the composition of their looks is so beautifully, perfectly, utterly opposite.
We look at Pink. Despite towering over the average gem, she’s still laughably tiny compared to her fellow Diamonds. She could stand in the palm of their hand. Fitting, as she has the proportions and appearance of a doll. She is lithe and dainty, and though she is a pretty pink pixie of a figure, she’s also dressed in the most ridiculous and childish costume out of all the Diamonds. It’s a hodgepodge of clashing saturated rose tones, silly harlequin flourishes and the general outline of something a little girl would put together in play. And to the Diamonds, however much they care for her, however many millennia passed, she is a child and always will be to them. One who they treat alternately as a cheerful pet or a toy to be shut back in her box if she makes a mess. There is nothing in her design that suggests a character to be taken seriously. At a glance, she’s only a bubbly bauble there to sing and dance if you wind a key in her back.
(On that note, shout out to the casting decision of having Susan Egan voice her/Rose Quartz. What a retroactive audio whiplash to hear that rich grown woman’s voice come out of a character who looks like she should have a chirpy adolescent soprano piping out of her.)
Now turn to Rose Quartz, the visual Pink ultimately chooses to live in for the rest of her life. Certainly no Diamond-sized stature here, but she does have a physique that looms over and out-bulks the majority of gems in the cast. She is gorgeous but imposing. But more importantly, she looks far more mature and so much simpler. The puffy cotton candy cloud of hair is swapped for intense and weighty curls. The elfin face has been rounded and made fuller. The big bright eyes are now perpetually half-lidded and dark. The elaborate and outlandish form-hugging costume is switched out for an airy uncomplicated gown. Even the funny little ballet slippers and their pom-poms have been banished in favor of bare feet.
Give or take the longer process of inner growth and development, we see Pink Diamond put real effort behind using her new appearance to wholly shed the person she has been so long: A person ignored, belittled, imprisoned and infantilized for thousands and thousands of years. An eternal little girl-pet-toy, unable to protect what she loves from those who claim to love her, never an equal to her family or anything but a figure to mindlessly nod and smile for among Homeworld’s gems, Yes, my Diamond. Rose Quartz in her final shape is Pink putting her (new) foot down and turning her back on that history.
Rose Quartz is a woman, the Matron to Pink’s overstayed Maiden. A leader. A threat. Serene and stately. An enigma even to her closest friends and bitterest enemies rather than the prancing and bombastic Diamond she once was.
The character design is part of the storytelling for all the gems in the series, but this? This contrast is a story in itself.
(Psst, if you want some art of your own, I've got a Ko-Fi over yonder.)

How Can You Improve Your Health in the New Year? Pick-a-Card Reading
(Tarot & Oracle)
Because we're all about self improvement over here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Cards
The Tower (Reversed)
Temperance (Reversed)
Knight of Wands
Immediately I got that this pile might want to focus on their mental health. I feel like this pile might really struggle with anxiety but with the tower in reverse I feel like you worry needlessly most times. But you're just so afraid that the one time you relax could be the time that things fall apart. With temperance in reverse and the knight of wands I feel like you try to regulate your emotions and calm down but the moment something seems like it might go wrong you go back into freak out mode.
Oracle Cards
Rose Quartz: Love - Heart Chakra
Malachite: Nature - Heart Chakra
Cinnabar: Business - Sacral Chakra
With the rose quartz crystal coming out I feel like you need to show yourself more love when you face these moments of anxiety instead of trying to make yourself snap out of it. The malachite crystal has to do with the heart chakra and nature in this deck, getting out into nature may help to make you feel more emotionally stable. Cinnabar is associated with business and the sacral chakra in this deck, this makes me think some of the anxiety you may be feeling could be about work. Consider working with these crystals to help balance your heart and sacral chakras. The sacral chakra is actually connected to the emotions and I also consider the heart chakra to be closely associated with emotions. If you decide to use cinnabar please use extreme caution, be careful with malachite as well.
Tumblr media
Cards
4 of Cups
6 of Swords
5 of Swords
I feel like this pile's main focus needs to be on physical health. Some of the people in this pile might already be into physical fitness and for those people I feel like you do workouts that you don't really like for the sake of weight loss or just because you think it's a workout you should be doing. But with the 4 of Cups I feel like there are other workouts that you could be doing that you would actually enjoy but you aren't looking into any other form of exercise. I also feel like this pile could really struggle with body image, the coming year (2025) is really the time to try and release that and realize that you don't have to be at war with your body. Your job is not to make your body look a particular way (especially not a way that is impossible to achieve without extreme behaviors) your job is to make sure that you keep your body as healthy as you can.
Oracle Cards
Seraphinite: Honesty - Heart & Third Eye Chakras
Obsidian: Obsidian - Root Chakra
Dioptase: Direction - Heart Chakra
I feel like with the honesty card (seraphinite) you are being called to look at yourself, really look at yourself and see yourself for who you are. Beyond your body, beyond other's perceptions of you, beyond what you've been told you are based on other family members. Really look into your heart and soul and begin living your life from your soul and not based on your physical appearance.
Tumblr media
Cards
4 of Pentacles
3 of Cups
The Empress (Reversed)
This pile might want to work on their financial health in the New Year. The first thing I'm hearing is you don't have to be at every brunch or outing your friends have because it's really starting to add up. For a very small group of people that chose this pile, I feel like you might enjoy clubbing often and it's becoming quite expensive. And I feel like everyone in this pile really enjoys going out but instead of going somewhere where you have to spend money look for more inexpensive options. Instead of going for a boozy brunch consider meeting up with your friends at a coffee shop, or going for a picnic in the park, or find affordable or free events in your area that you can go to. But whatever you do, you might really want to consider saving more of your money.
Oracle Cards
Peridot: Teach - Heart Chakra
Carnelian: Self-Confidence - Root & Sacral Chakras
Malachite: Nature - Heart Chakra
With this first card (Peridot) I feel like some of you could be teachers but I mostly feel like by you taking on this new attitude of financial responsibility. That you'll teach those around you how to be more financially responsible too. I feel that you feeling like you have control over your finances will give you a boost of confidence. I feel like malachite will help you to manifest more money but also help you during this time of going from someone that used to be somewhat financially irresponsible to someone that knows how to manage their money well.
I hope this reading resonated with you and please feel free to let me know which pile you chose! And please get professional help to improve your health if you think you need it. 🩷

The DIFFERENCE between Pink and Lucifer
Tumblr media
While both were essentially the runts/children of their oppressors, one at least had a reason why they didn't stand for what happened.
Themes of Mental Illness
Pink Diamond
Growing up in an oppressive empire that coddled her and treated her like a kid, Pink always wanted to be something else, and make something out of herself, but due to her status as "the court jester" she was increasingly sidelined and often ridiculed by her sisters and mother for being what she is, a child.
Pink had self worth issues, she as emotionally abused, neglected and even abused in general. Being locked up in a tower whenever she had done something a child would do made her feel alone.
Due to the mistreatments and lack of acknowledgement or care, Pink began to regress to the only thing she was known for, which caused even more negativity, even if she was getting attention she didn't care if it was negative or positive she wanted people to notice her.
It all accumulated when Pink finally got Earth and set her sights on what she was put on Homeworld for, but when she decided to check Earth herself and saw all the life forms on the planet she quickly changed her mind wanting to instead save the Earth.
Due to her oppressors being very strict and literally predicting what they said that she would do, she created a distraction, Rose Quartz which led to her doing a be all end all to The Diamonds interest in Earth and ended up ending herself to make someone who could not live through the mistakes she made, she thought by ending herself and rebirthing herself that she would mean something.
Rose was a complicated character with severe issues, that suffered from self-esteem and abuse but we learned all of that backwards while the same can't be said for Lucifer.
Lucifer Magne/Morningstar
Compared to Pink, Lucifer grew up well, although he always thought outside the box and due to this, caused annoyances in the long run. In the sense he stole Adam's first wife Lilith and caused ruckus throughout Heaven, while the show tries to paint Heaven as bad as Hell, it's no way in comparison to what Pink went through at all, due to the fact of one thing:
Lucifer brought most of his actions onto himself.
Lucifer actively acted beligirent as an adult, while causing disruption and unlike Pink had deserved his punishment one way or another, even if he was ambitious Lucifer lacked the reasoning behind his "ideas" other than LOLXDRANDOM SPUR OF THE MOMENT! >-<.
The final straw that ended up happening to Lucifer was being sent below after trolling Eve and this finally ended with Heaven sending him down.
Now the narrative basically tries to claim this man who MOST CERTAINLY older than the VA for him, was or is depressed. The problem?
Depression is poorly added in.
I feel like the depression was added in to add sympathy points with no better way of giving him fake brownie rep, as someone with depression the inclusivity of depression was just as jarring as Pentious attempting suicide in the leaks with the fact and knowledge that Pentious was based off of someone who tried to attempt and the fact Pentious DIDN'T succeed in the end is what makes me mad.
The fact that the person who made this show cannot understand mental health while causing the most amount of K/D in a Fandom because of her stans being rabid is enough to tell me she does not care for mental health.
VivziePop made Lucifer unbearable for me for that exact reason, instead of interviewing or getting to know people (like me) with depression , she portrayed him as a sad miserable old man trying to get by without his wife and daughter when he could just reach the fuck out.
Ruling over their respective empire/kingdom
While Pink was a child, she had no idea how to run an empire which landed her as a jester for important ballroom events, and when she was given Earth she was finally able to do her actual job until the reveal she was killing lifeforms on Earth decided to beg them to stop it, but her pleads fell on deaf ears and she took matters into her own hands.
Lucifer's ruling ended just as he started, his "depression arc" ended up happening and left the work to his wife because he didn't want to be responsible for his own actions. Lucifer is a lazy bum who did something bad, instead of being received the applause he wanted, was banished from Heaven alongside his cronies and now he is depressed.
