I did say I'd post snippets from my fanfic's so here's the first batch. This comes from my first ever posted work Dawn of the Bloodsuckers. Better known as my mbav retelling fic, for context this moment takes place during the cafeteria scene instead of Benny, Ethen and Rory's conversation I extended Erica and Sarah's segment. Since Dakota and her friends were sitting with them and I couldn't find a way to segway into the boys in a way that wouldn't be weird (First time writer woes am I right.) Any way enjoy this little segment more will come and if you're interested fanfic links are in my bio.
*Dakota staring off into space while looking at the table Benny, Ethen and Rory were sitting at.*
Erica: "Dakota? Dakota? Hello" Waves her hand in front of her. "Earth to Dakota!"
Dakota: now shocked out of her daydream "What huh! Sorry I wasn't listening. What were we talking about?"
Erica: "Dakota you've been staring at that table for the past fifteen minutes. Do you have a crush on one of those boys?"
Emily coming forward: "Yeah she does, and she's got it pretty bad too might I just say."
Sarah excitedly: Oh, which one does she like?"
Emily: "She likes that blond haired boy, Rory." She says while pointing to him, "Ever since that incident in Chemistry Class last Monday. Huh, she developed chemistry in the Chemistry Lab... What are the odds."
Erica: "Oh yeah, I heard about that incident, what happened in there?"
Amy (Whose Emily's sister by the way.) "Some Joker thought it would be a good idea to switch the labels of two highly reactive and highly hazardous chemicals. Dakota and Rory were paired up for the assignment. when they poured in the wrong chemical thinking it was the right one it boiled over instead of a simple smoke effect. Thankfully they caught the perpetrator, and no one was hurt. He got suspended for three months."
Emily Unsatisfied: "Well, I think he should've gotten expelled. He's little "prank" could have seriously hurt someone; not to mention it could have hurt Dakota, Thank goodness Rory thought fast and pulled her out of the way. But after those events the rest was history. Not seriously she couldn't focus at all during history class."
Dakota dreamily: "After he pulled me out of the way I looked up into those beautiful blue eyes and in the most cliché romantic movie moment. My heart just stopped. He is so cute I just can't take it!"
Mabel: "Yeah, he is Rory is a total hottie!"
Emily groaning: "Oh you too Mabel?"
Mabel: "Yeah me too, I don't care what anyone thinks. Rory is hot with a capital H! And an O and a T and like fifteen exclamation points!"
(These two have it bad am I right.)
Dakota: "Okay, Mabel that's kind of overdoing it a smidge. He's hot with a capital HOT and five exclamation points."
And scene and yes, I did just remaster this whole thing.

she was a skater girl! | buddy & monkey: double the trouble
another part of the chaos continuing in america but heads up, this is a long one to read!
pairings: leah williamson x reader!monkey x reader!buddy
summary: monkey's menace behaviour ends with drastic consequences in the form of an injury
double the trouble masterlist
thank you to @alotofpockets for the help along the way and also my self doubt when writing.
“I’m bored,” You complain, huffing as you flop back on your best friend's bed once you have entered her room, “I’m so bored. Aren’t you bored?”
You guys have the lucky opportunity to have some free time away from the preseason training for the next game against Chelsea, but you didn’t realise how bored you are now you’ve run out of things to do and technically, you aren’t meant to leave your hotel room but there’s only so many videos on TikTok that you will watch before you go stir crazy.
Kyra looks at you curiously, “What’re you doing here?” She pauses as she shuts her hotel door behind her and looks at you, “I thought you couldn’t leave your hotel room other than training, games and anything else that’s not related to having fun, direct orders from Lord Farquaad herself?”
Technically, Kyra is right.
You’re not meant too, but you’re bored and going crazy alone in the hotel room.
You’re grounded and it sucks, although it’s your own fault for getting so hyper on energy drinks and thinking it was a good idea to play football in the living room.
It was definitely not a good idea at all when the TV ended up getting smashed.
“What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her,” You bite your bottom lip and shrug your shoulders, “Alright so I snuck out, but I’m going to go insane being stuck in that hotel room!”
“You’re bound to get into more trouble for that,” Kyra snickers knowing full well you will no doubt end up in more hot water.
You huff and groan dramatically, “But aren’t you bored?” You sidestep her question and repeat your own.
“I’m bored,” The older girl chuckles in agreement.
“See?” You wave your hand around in gesture, “I’m bored of being stuck in this dumb hotel room. Let’s do something fun!”
“And how do you plan to do that when you can’t leave the hotel?” Kyra questions, making a valid point about things.
You can’t help but grin mischievously at the older girl, “That’s why we’d sneak out of the hotel, duh!”
“I’m not sneaking out of a window.” Kyra remarks, “And what’re we gonna do when we’re out of the hotel?” She wonders, curiously.
You sit up from the bed and shrug your shoulders, “I don’t know, I’m just bored. Buddy’s off with Rory, having some sort of playdate that Le and Beth set up and I can’t be bothered to sit in this hotel, so let’s go out and do something fun!” You insist.
“Okay, sure, you don’t have to convince me twice!” Kyra grins in agreement, taking hold of your hand to pull you up off the bed, “Let’s go– Wait, do we need disguises? Y’know like hats and all that.”
“That’s where I’m already prepared,” You smirk, gesturing to the baseball cap on top of your head and sunglasses in your hand, “Let’s go, let’s go!” You exclaim, throwing your hood up over your hat before all but dragging Kyra out of her hotel room.
“So, where are we going first?” Kyra wonders, her tone curious as the two of you wander around the different shops.
Sneaking out of the hotel with Kyra proves to be easier than you anticipate, there were no girls around in the hotel lobby so it was simple enough to just walk out the door without anybody seeing you.
The crisp air of the city outside feels exhilarating and you can’t help but bounce around in excitement.
“Dunno, let’s just walk around and see what there is,” You respond, sticking your hands in the pocket of your shorts, trying your best to not get recognised because the last thing you want is to be spotted by fans right now.
“Sounds like a plan,” Kyra nods in agreement.
As you stroll around, your gaze falls on a shop window that has vibrant skateboards displayed and your eyes lit up in excitement, “Ky, whoa, looky!” You practically tug the older girl into the store, “Check it out, see how cool it looks? I need it!”
“Wow, that looks cool!” Kyra glances at the skateboard and reluctantly allows you to drag her inside, “You should definitely get one!” She encourages, being the bad influence that she is.
“Right? I have to get it!” You declare, practically vibrating with excitement, “Think of all the different cool tricks that I’m gonna be able to do on it, Ky!” You add, making your way over to the man at the counter to discuss purchasing a skateboard of your own.
“Yer’ it’s totally sick!” Kyra exclaims, “Do you actually have your own bank card right now?” She wonders, amusedly.
“No, of course I don’t,” You huff and slide your wallet out of your pocket, “Lucky enough this is my allowance money that I’ve so kindly been given,” You murmur, sarcastically as you hand the money over the man to pay for your new skateboard.
Kyra snickers in amusement, “I still can’t believe that you don’t have control over your own money.”
“Tell me about it, apparently I’m irresponsible,” You mutter in disagreement, accepting the bag with the board in, “This is totally worth the money spent on it though!”
“Oh yeah, and I’m sure Malfoy’s gonna see it that way,” The older girl smirks knowingly, “She’s totally going to have a heart attack over this.” She adds.
Smirking back at the older girl, you thank the man and walk out the shop, “Yeah, she’s totally gonna freak out about this,” You pause, “I mean I’m already grounded, so what’s the worst that can happen now?”
It turns out a lot worse can happen as you're about to find out.
One minute you’re mucking around on your new skateboard and the next minute, you're on the ground in floods of tears and crying out in pain.
The two of you were successful to make your way back to the hotel without any speculation of your whereabouts and as far as Leah was concerned, you were in your hotel room the whole time staying out of trouble.
Oh boy how wrong she was there, though.
Currently you are with Kyra and goofing off in a quiet corner out the front of the hotel, acting without a care in the world. The evening is cooling down and the city lights cast a soft glow on the pavement.
“Show me what yer’ got skater girl!” Kyra encourages, a smirk plastered on her face in amusement as she watches you on your board.
“She was a skater girl, she said see yer’ later girl!” You goof off and sing aloud playfully while messing about on your new skateboard.
With not much experience on one before, you have been happy enough to pick it up quite quickly without much difficulty.
“Whoa, look at me go,” You exclaim, grinning from ear to ear and having such a blast on it, “This is so cool!”
It was going fine, until it wasn’t.
Until one step and you misjudge the angle so your foot slips awkwardly off the edge of the board.
“Agh, shit!” Feeling your ankle buckle, you collapse to the ground with a jarring thud. There’s a sharp, searing pain radiating through your leg, causing you to cry out in distress, “Shit, ow, my ankle!” You sob, the pain intensifying as you clutch a hold of your ankle, “My ankle!”
“Oh shit— Monkey!” Panic takes over Kyra’s usual playful facial expression as she rushes to your side, “What’d you do?” She questions.
Trying to stand up, it doesn’t end well when you crumple back on the floor while the tears stream down your face, “Ow, it hurts! I… I want my mum. I want my mum!”
Kyra’s eyes widen in panic as she looks around, “Alright, alright. I’ll go get her– Wait here, okay? I won’t be long!” With that, she rushes back into the hotel where she crashes into Steph and Kim in the lobby, “Where’s Leah?”
“Whoa, slow down,” Steph chuckles, slightly taken aback by Kyra’s frantic behavior, “What’s the rush?”
Kyra’s eyes are wide with desperation, “Where’s Leah?” She repeats, her tone sharp and urgent.
Kim furrows her eyebrows in confusion, “Over there,” She gestures to where the blonde is sitting with Lia and Beth while Buddy and Rory play together, “What’s going on?”
“Leah! Leah!” Kyra yells, ignoring Kim and Steph’s questions as she rushes towards Leah, “Leah!”
Leah looks up, a bemused expression on her face when she sees Kyra, “Alright, pest?” she jokes, “What’s goin’ on?”
“You have to come quickly, it’s Monkey!” Kyra exclaims, her voice sounding frantic compared to usual.
“Oh god, what’d she do this time?” Beth jokes, glancing in the direction of the Australian girl.
“It was only a matter of time,” Lia chimes in, amusedly.
“It’s serious, she’s hurt!” Kyra tells them, her voice continuing to sound urgent, “She’s out the front of the hotel, Leah! She needs you!”
Leah’s eyes widen in panic as she darts up from her seat at the mention of Monkey being hurt, “Wha… Beth, Wally, will you… do you girls mind keeping an eye on Buddy for me?” She motions to where her little girl is sat playing contently with Rory, Beth’s little one.
“Of course,” Beth replies to the blonde.
“We got it, go find out what’s wrong with her,” Lia nods in agreement, gesturing for Leah to run off.
“Thanks,” Leah murmurs before she rushes off in the direction to the front of the hotel, “How much trouble can she get in when she’s supposed to be in her hotel room?” She thinks aloud.
Walking outside to find you crumpled up on the ground, Leah gasps in shock, “Oh my God, Monkey!” She crouches down to your level on the ground, too worried now to care that you’re not even in the hotel room like you are supposed to be, “Are you okay?”
“No, it’s… it’s my ankle,” You sob as you clutch a hold of your ankle, the pain feels excruciating, “It… It hurts so much!” You add.
“Wha… What the hell happened?” Leah’s frantic with worry as she tries to see how severe the injury is, “Kyra, quick, go and find someone from the medics team!”
“Uh, s… sure I’m on it,” Kyra mutters, running off to go and find a staff member that is better to help with the situation.
“What’s going on?” Kim wonders, walking out the front of the hotel and furrowing her eyebrows as she sees you on the floor, “What on earth happened? I thought you were supposed to be in your hotel room,” She adds, confused.
“Yeah and that’s what I thought so as well,” Leah murmurs, looking at you with an unamused expression on her face while you wait for Kyra to come back with the medical staff member, “What the hell are you doing outside messing around on a skateboard, eh?” She questions.
“Kyra and I were bored and needed something to do,” You admit through your sobs, the pain only becoming more agonising as time went on, “We snuck out and I brought the skateboard.”
The blonde’s eyes bulge in disbelief, “Are you kidding me, Monkey? You’re supposed to be grounded, in case you have forgotten, and you’re sneaking out to go to god-knows-where!” She pauses her rant, “Yet again you’re wasting your money on things that you don’t need, seriously, Menace?”
“Leah,” Kim interjects, shaking her head, “Now isn’t the time for that. You can come back and discuss this later on but right now, we need to get Monkey to the hospital!”
“No hospital, I’m not… I’m not going there, nuh uh!” Your fear of hospitals is evident and despite the intense pain, your hell bent on going there, “I’m not goin’ there!”
“It might be needed, my girl,” Leah states, sympathising with how you feel.
“Nuh uh, I’m not going there!” You grit your teeth and shake your head in protest, “You can’t make me either!” You add, trying to stand your own ground.
“Alright, alright. Calm down,” Leah states, wrapping her free around you, “How about we just see what the medic staff say and we can figure it out from there?” She suggests, already knowing the possibility of going to the hospital is more likely but she doesn’t want you to get upset about it.
“Okay,” You murmur, nodding your head in agreement as you feel some relief there’s no pressure to go to the hospital.
Little do you know that’s not completely true.
“I heard there’s been an incident,” One of the staff members from the medical team walks over to them with Kyra following behind, “What’s happened here then?”
“Skateboarding mishap,” Kim briefly explains to the member of the medics team who begin to assess the extent of the injury.
“How bad is it?” Leah questions in concern for you as she watches the medic check for signs of a fracture and apply gentle pressure to see how much pain you’re in, “Are we going to need to go to the hospital?”
The medic exhales a sigh and nods slightly, “It looks like it could be a fracture, so I think a trip to the hospital for a full assessment would be beneficial just to be sure,” They pause, “We can look to set up a car to take you there, kid.” She says, speaking directly to you.
You're still sitting crying on the floor and clutching your ankle, “I don’t… I don’t want to go to the hospital!” You wail aloud not caring about making a scene when you’re dead set against the idea of going to the hospital, “I’m not… I’m not going!”
“Hey, hey, it’s okay, I know you’re not a fan of hospital’s Monkey, but we’ve gotta go,” Leah steps in and comforts you to try and ease your upset, “It’s going to be fine, I’ll be there with you as well.”
“No hospital, please,” You whimper in disagreement.
“Monkey, you need to go there,” Kim chimes in as she places her hand gently on your shoulder, “I know you don’t like it, but you have too, alright? You might have really hurt your ankle.”
“I really don’t want too,” You sob tearfully, continuing to shake your head.
“Monkey, we have to go there and see what the severity of the damage is,” Leah exhales a sigh, all too familiar with your dislike for hospitals, “You’re going there whether you like it or not, alright?” She states, putting her foot down on this.
“Are you sure that we have to be here?” You ask, your voice tinged with a mix of frustration and anxiety.
Kim exhales a sigh and nods, “We do, Monkey.” This isn’t the first time you’ve asked the question in the past hour that you’ve been sitting here with Leah and Kim.
You feel bad that Buddy’s back at the hotel being taken care of by Lia, but you guess hospitals aren’t such a fantastic place for little kids.
You’ve always hated hospitals, the whole sterile smell of them and the beeping of the machines does nothing to calm your nerves. Shifting uncomfortably in the plastic chair, you avoid eye contact with the nurses bustling around.
“I don’t like hospitals,” You’re making it evidently clear how much you detest being here and if you had your way then you’d already be up and running out of the hospital, but the only problem being that you couldn’t even put pressure on your damn ankle at the minute.
You really messed up with this one.
“I know that you do,” Leah sighs, her expression a mix of concern, “I’m sorry, my girl, but we have to be here to get your ankle seen too.” She explains, her tone firm but gentle.
“Why?” You huff in disappointment, slumping further into the chair, “Like seriously, it’s not… It doesn’t even hurt that much now,” You insist as you grit your teeth and try to mask the sharp pain still radiating from your ankle, “It’s totally fine. I can walk on it!”
With that, you try to stand up, determined to prove your point that you’re fine, that you don’t need to be here in this horrible hospital
“Don’t you dare,” Leah is quick to tell you before you can fully rise, taking a gentle grip of your wrist, “Sit back down.” She says, her voice leaving no room for further argument.
“Fine,” You murmur in response, knowing that she is serious but the familiar tone of voice that you’ve heard before, “I still don’t think this is necessary though.” You add, reluctantly sinking back down into the chair while the pain in your ankle flares up again as you do.
Leah’s own expression softens as wraps her free arm around your shoulder, “Look, I know you hate the idea of being here and I get it, but you need to let the doctor take a look, okay? We’re staying put until they do,” She pauses, “You could be doing some serious damage to it without you knowing otherwise.”
“So mean,” You grumble under your breath, trying to mask your own anxiety and irritation.
Leah snorts softly, amused despite the situation, “Oh, I’m mean for caring about your welfare, huh?”
“Yes, especially when I’m being forced to sit in this place!” You retort, crossing your arms in a huff.
“This is the best thing for you, Monkey,” Kim chimes in, her voice calm and reassuring as the responsible Captain that she is, “There’s no point trying to argue about it.”
“Don’t like it,” You continue to grumble in protest as you sit there stewing in your discomfort, the minutes feel like hours. You fidget, trying to find a comfortable position, but the pain in your ankle makes it impossible.
Finally, a nurse steps into the hospital waiting room and calls out your name, which makes you cringe when you hear it.
“I hate that name,” You murmur in response, glancing at Leah and Kim with a mixture of resignation and dread, “Please don’t make me go in there,” You add, reluctantly getting up with Leah’s help.
“It’s going to be okay, my girl,” Leah reassures you, keeping a steady hand on your back as you make your way down the hallway to the examination room as Kim follows closely behind.
Most likely in case you try and bolt, but there’s no chance of that happening when you can barely walk without aid.
Inside the room, the doctor greets you with a warm smile, “Hi there! I’m Dr. Patel. So, what seems to be the problem?” She questions, her tone gentle as she gestures for you to sit on the examination table.
“Uh, I was using a skateboard and hurt myself on it,” You mutter, wincing as you carefully lower yourself onto the bed.
Dr. Patel takes a few minutes to examine your ankle with practiced hands, gently probing the area to gauge the extent of your injury while you try and do your best to hide your discomfort, but every touch sends a sharp jolt of pain through your leg.
“Okay, I think we’ll need to get an X-ray to see what’s going on in there,” Dr. Patel decides, standing up straight, “It looks like there might be a fracture, but I’ll know for sure once I’ve had a better look.”
You nod, trying to swallow the lump in your throat. The whole idea of a fracture makes your anxiety spike and your grateful Leah’s there to squeeze your shoulder reassuringly.
“It’s okay, my girl,” Leah says softly, giving you a small, encouraging smile.
Kim nods in agreement, “This is just going to make sure we know exactly what’s going on. You’ll be fine, Monkey.”
The nurse leads you to the X-ray room, where you’re instructed to sit on a padded table and position your ankle under the machine. The cold metal of the machine against your skin sends a shiver down your spine, but you try and stay still as you can.
You’re just grateful that the X-ray technician is quick and efficient, and soon enough, your back in the examination room with Dr. Patel and the images are up on the screen, she takes a few minutes to study them carefully before turning back to you with a calm, reassuring expression.
“So, what’s the damage?” You joke, trying to make light of the situation.
“Well, it looks like you have fractured your ankle,” The doctor confirms, pointing to a thin, clear line running across one of the bones in the image, “It’s a clean break, but it’s definitely going to need proper care to heal.”
You bite your bottom lip and stare at the screen as the reality of the situation sinks in, “So, uh, what happens now then?” You ask, your voice small.
“We’ll need to immobilise the ankle to help it heal properly,” Dr. Patel explains, “That means a cast, crutches and some time off your feet as well. You will also need to see a specialist to make sure everything is healing as it should.”
“We’re only in America for another week or two, we’re in the middle of a preseason tour,” Leah chimes in to tell the doctor on your behalf as she takes your welfare seriously, “Is it possible for her to see a specialist when we’re back in London?” She asks.
Dr. Patel nods in agreement with the blonde, “That should be fine, we can provide you with a detailed report and follow up instructions for your specialist back in London,” She pauses, “It’s crucial to have it monitored regularly, but we can set you up with everything you need to manage it in the meantime.”
Leah lets out a sigh of relief but her concern is still evident, “Okay, so what happens tonight then?” She asks, glancing back at the doctor.
Dr. Patel turns to the nurse standing nearby, “We’ll get the cast put on and then we’ll provide you with a pair of crutches to help you get around,” She explains, “We’ll also make sure you’re comfortable and that you have the proper pain relief.
“Cool,” You murmur, not really sure of what else to say about the situation.
As the nurse prepares the materials for the cast, Leah gently takes a hold of your hand, “I know you’re scared, but we’re here– I’m here, okay? It’s going to be okay.”
“Thanks, Mum,” You say quietly, it’s not often you call Leah by that name but you’re feeling somewhat vulnerable right now as the reality of the situation settles in.
The nurse and Dr. Patel both work efficiently together and soon enough, your ankle is encased in a firm plaster cast and they give you an explanation of how to use your crutches along with how to keep the cast dry and safe, something that Leah and Kim both listen to intently.
“How long do I have to keep this on for?” You grumble, staring down at the newfound cast you now have, “This is totally gonna be a buzzkill,” You add.
The doctor gives you a friendly smile, “You’ll need to keep the cast on for six to eight weeks, which should be enough time for the fracture to heal properly.” She explains.
You let out a small groan, clearly not thrilled by the news, “Six to eight weeks? Ugh, are you serious?” You can’t help but react in the way that you do, this all really sucks, “Can I at least train?”
“No, it’s not a good idea to train or do any physical activity that can put stress on the injury which could lead to complications or a prolonged recovery,” Dr. Patel explains with a sympathetic expression, “I recommend avoiding any strenuous activity or exercise until your ankle is healed and youve been cleared by a specialist.”
“I know it’s not ideal or what you wanted to hear but it’s going to be fine,” Leah wraps her free arm around your shoulder, “You don’t want to cause more damage by hurting yourself, do you?”
“It might be a bit of a hassle now but the time will pass before you know it,” Kim says in a supportive tone, “It’s going to be okay, Monkey. You’re strong enough to deal with this.”
“And perhaps next time you’ll think twice about mucking about on a skateboard,” Leah says with a teasing smile on her face, “Which we still need to talk about at some point,” She reminds you.
With everything in place, Leah helps you to carefully maneuver on the crutches although you feel like Bambi on ice currently with the way you’re hobbling on them.
It’s only when you leave the hospital with the two of them that the true reality of your injury begins to sink in. You’re going to be sitting on the sidelines for at least the next few months and that is a harsh pill to swallow.
“You’re back!” Kyra spots you hobbling through the hotel lobby with Leah and Kim from where she’s sat with Alessia, “Yikes, a cast and crutches? You must’ve properly messed it up then.”
“Yeah, I’m stuck in this thing for at least six weeks,” You huff dramatically, not exactly thrilled about the idea.
“I’ll go and update Jonas and the rest of the staff on the situation,” Kim tells Leah before she heads off in that direction to find your coach, “I’ll come find you both in a bit to check in on the menace.”
Alessia smiles sympathetically at you, “I guess you won’t be using your skateboard anytime soon then, huh?” She jokes.
“No, she definitely won’t be,” Leah interjects, her tone firm as she gives you a pointed look, “Come on, let’s get you up to my hotel room. You need to keep off that ankle and rest, you heard what the doctor said.”
“Why can’t I just go to my own room?” You ask confused, a touch of frustration creeping into your voice.
“Monkey, you’re on crutches and in a cast,” Leah says gently, but firmly, “It’s not exactly a good idea for you to be on your own right now, and this way I can help you.”
“So I’m being babysat, that’s just fantastic,” You mutter, trying to hide your annoyance.
“Call it what you want, but I’m just looking out for you,” Leah replies, her expression softening, “Come on, let’s get you settled in. You can catch up with your partner in crime later.”
“What about Buddy?” You wonder about the whereabouts of your favourite little buddy.
“I already texted Wally on the way back and she’s going to bring her back once we’re settled,” Leah tells you, waving off the girls as the two of you head in the direction of the lift while Kim goes to update Jonas and the rest of the staff on the situation, “I have no doubt she’ll want to draw on your cast as well.”
“Probably,” You agree, shrugging your shoulders.
“And in the meantime, we’re going to talk about this whole mishap,” Leah gestures towards your cast, reminding you of how it happened in the first place.
The prospect of this conversation makes your stomach churn, but you couldn’t really escape it.
Once in Leah’s hotel room, she helps you get comfortable on the bed and arranges some pillows to prop up your leg before she makes everything that you need– pain medication, snacks and plenty of entertainment.
“I know this sucks, but it won’t be forever,” Leah says, settling on the bed beside you, “Now, on a serious note, we need to have that conversation, don’t we?”
The words make your stomach flip in anxiousness, “I… I know it was dumb,” You begin to say.
“It wasn’t just dumb, it was incredibly stupid– What’re you thinking of sneaking out of the hotel, eh? What if something serious happened, or you got hurt? I wouldn’t know where you are!” Leah’s on a full blown rant, making you see the seriousness of things despite you thinking it was a bit of fun, “Regardless of that, you’re meant to be grounded as well. Did you think I was joking about that or something?”
You feel a pang of guilt inside you and nod slowly, “I’m sorry, I… I didn’t think about it properly,” You admit to her, your voice barely above a whisper.
Leah’s gaze softens as she gently brushes a strand of hair from your face, “I love you so much, my girl and it would break my heart if something happened to you in a place you’re not familiar with,” She says with a mix of tenderness and firmness, “And just so we’re clear, you’re most definitely still grounded. Ankle fracture or not.”
“Guess I saw that one coming,” You murmur in response, feeling the sudden exhaustion of the pain meds taking their toll, “I know you’re wanting to have this conversation now and all, but I’m super wiped. So… to be continued?”
“Fine,” Leah reluctantly agrees, seeing the way that your eyes are starting to droop and she takes pity on you, “We’ll talk about this later on.”
The conversation is put on halt and you're grateful as you feel the full effect of the pain meds, and before you know it you’re drifting off to sleep.
It’s only a soft knock on the door that rouses Leah, who opens it to find Buddy standing there with Kim, though the blonde is slightly confused as she thought it was Lia who was bringing Buddy back.
“Mummy!” Buddy’s little arms reach up eagerly to be picked up, “I missed ‘ou so much!” She says, affectionately.
“Oh my little bubba,” Leah bends down to scoop Buddy into a gentle hug, keeping her voice quiet to avoid waking you up, “I missed you too. Did you have fun hanging out with Auntie Wally?”
“Uh huh!” Buddy nods enthusiastically, “Where’s Monkey?”
“She’s right over there, but we need to be very quiet because Monkey’s sleeping,” Leah points gently to your sleeping form on the bed, her voice soft and soothing, “She’s got an ouchie now so we need to be extra careful around her.”
Buddy’s little face scrunches up in concern as her brows knit together, “She’s got an ouchie?”
“Yeah she has, so we’ve got to use our gentle hands,” Leah nods in response, “Can you do that for me, bubba?”
“You got it dude,” Buddy replies, sticking her thumb up as she begins to carefully make her way over to the bed, clambering up onto it beside you as she eyes you with worry, “Love ‘ou, Monkey.” She whispers softly, snuggling close and resting her head gently on your chest while you remain peacefully asleep.
Leah’s heart melts as she watches the two of you as she steps aside to let Kim into the hotel, “I thought Wally was supposed to bring Buddy back?” She asks, confused.
“I stopped by her room and offered instead, I thought it would give me the chance to check in and see how things are as well,” Kim explains, “I’ve updated Jonas about the situation and they’re going to release a statement for the upcoming game against Chelsea.”
“Thanks, Kim,” Leah thanks the Scots woman.
“How’s she doing?” Kim asks softly, looking over at you with concern.
Leah walks over to the bed and carefully adjusts the pillows to make sure you’re comfortable while keeping a watchful eye on Buddy, “Well the pain meds made her tired so we put the conversation about the skateboard on hold,” She pauses, “The main thing now is to make sure she gets better and doesn’t do anything to jeopardise hurting herself in the meantime.”
“You’re doing an amazing job, Le, so just keep doing what you’re doing,” Kim nods sympathetically, “Co-captains, more like co-parenting instead, huh?” She jokes with the blonde.
“Well Jordan can’t be here so I guess you’ve got to step up and take on the responsibility as well,” Leah jokes with the captain.
Kim snorts and shakes her head, “No chance, you’re here this time unlike in Melbourne, she's completely your problem this round,” She declares to the blonde, “I’ll let you to take care of both the girls, but if you need me then don’t be afraid to text and ask for help.”
“Thanks, Kim,” Leah says grateful for the woman as she guides her back out of the hotel room, “Auntie Kimmy’s going now Buddy. You want to come say bye?”
Buddy scrambles off the bed and rushes towards the older woman flinging her arms around her legs, “Bye, Auntie Kimmy!”
“Bye, Buddy. I’ll see you tomorrow,” Kim crouches down to the toddler's level and embraces her in a warm hug, “Be good for your Mummy and help her to look after Monkey as well.”
“I’ll be the best helper!” Buddy insists with a somewhat firm look to show how serious she was before she turns to Leah, “Mummy, can I drop on her cast?” She asks.
Leah can’t help but laugh knowingly, “How about we get you in the bath first and then afterwards you can, huh?”
“Yeah!” Buddy replies in agreement, eager to have a bath so you can come back and draw pretty pictures on her cast.
“Sounds like fun,” Kim jokes, giving Leah a final encouraging nod before she slips out of the room.
Leah watches the door close behind Kim before she turns her attention back to Buddy, who’s practically vibrating with excitement, “Alright, my little bubba. It’s bath time!” She announces cheerfully, gesturing towards the bathroom.
Buddy doesn’t need to be twice before she scampers ahead of Leah as she chatters animatedly about what she’s going to draw on Monkey’s cast. The blonde smiles as she listens to her while she runs the bath, the warmth of Buddy’s enthusiasm filling her heart and providing a much-needed sense of normalcy amid the chaos of the day.
“I’m sure that Monkey will absolutely love whatever you draw on her cast,” Leah tells Buddy, watching her daughter’s eyes light up even more at the thought, “Right, in you go then, bubba,” Helping her into the bath, the little girl immediately starts splashing around with her bath toys that she insisted on bringing from home.
Leah’s pretty sure if Buddy could have brought every single one then she would have done, but she had to draw the line somewhere, besides there was definitely not enough room in the suitcase for them.
“Mummy?” Buddy asks, her voice full of curiosity as she plays with a floating duck, “When is Monkey gonna wake up?”
Leah glances back towards the bed where you’re still fast asleep, “Soon, bubba. Monkey just needs to rest a bit longer because of her ouchie. She’s been through a lot today.” She explains gently.
As Leah’s in the middle of giving Buddy a bath, she doesn’t notice you slowly waking up on the bed. You crack one eye open, just enough to see what’s going on and spot Leah and Buddy busy in the bathroom. That's when a mischievous idea pops into your head and you quickly shut your eyes again, deciding to play along and pretend to be asleep.
Buddy nods, seemingly satisfied with the answer as Leah quickly finishes bathing Buddy before she lifts her out and wraps her in a fluffy towel.
“There we go, all squeaky clean!” Leah says, playfully ruffling Buddy’s damp hair as she dries her off.
Buddy giggles, snuggling into the warmth of the towel, “Now can I draw on Monkey’s cast?” She asks, her eyes wide with anticipation.
“How about first we get you into your jammies,” Leah suggests, leading her back to the room, “Then you can doodle on Monkey’s cast.”
“Yeah!” Buddy squeals excitedly, allowing Leah to help her into her pyjamas before she races over to your side, ready to start drawing on your cast, “Can I wake her up?”
Leah glances over at you, still completely unaware that you’re awake, “Sure, but be gentle, okay?” She says softly, returning to the bathroom to tidy up.
“I can do that, Mummy!” Buddy nods seriously before she climbs up onto the bed beside you, trying to be as gentle as possible. Just as she’s about to nudge you awake, you suddenly let out a playful growl and open your eyes, making Buddy screech and jump back in surprise.
“Roar!” You shout, reaching out to tickle her sides the best you can with the cast on your foot.
“Ah, Monkey!” Buddy squeals with laughter, throwing her little arms around you in a tight hug. “Mummy said you got an ouchie!”
“I do have an ouchie,” You murmur, reminded of the whole incident earlier today which now left you in the situation that you’re in, “So now I’m stuck in this cast, but you know what might help me feel better?”
“What?” Buddy questions, her eyes wide with curiosity.
“If you draw some of your pretty pictures on it,” You suggest with a grin.
Leah steps out of the bathroom, drying her hands on a towel as she notices you're now awake with Buddy nestled against you, “Hey sleepy head. Have a nice nap?” She teases as she walks over to the bed, “I didn’t think those pain meds would knock you out so quickly.”
You laugh faintly, “Yeah they knocked me right out, they’re fantastic to help with my sleep issues. Where were those when I couldn’t sleep the other month?” You joke with the blonde as you see the unimpressed expression on her face, “What? Dark humour makes everything better.”
Leah clicks her tongue in disapproval, “Now is not the time for them kind of jokes, Monkey.”
“When is it then? Cos’ I’m fed up with this cast already,” You grumble in annoyance, poking at the bulky thing on your foot, “Seriously, six weeks? I’m gonna die! Literally, there’s nothing for me to do now!”
“Don’t be so dramatic,” Leah rolls her eyes at your dramatics as she sits on the edge of the bed, “You’re lucky that you’ve got this little artist to keep you entertained at least.”
“I’m gonna make the cast pretty,” Buddy announces with determination, holding out her hand for more colours, “Mummy, I need all the colours!
“Here you go, bubba,” Leah hands over a handful of markers to the 3 year old, starting to doodle on your cast to make it that bit brighter and colourful, “Wow, that looks great already. You know, I think this might be the most colourful cast I’ve seen.” She comments, reaching out to gently brush a strand of Buddy’s hair behind her ear.
“Colourful, Mummy!” Buddy beams a wide smile, glancing at Leah with wide eyes.
“It’s certainly something,” You remark, peering at the masterpiece that your favourite little buddy is creating, “Best leave some room for other people to sign it, Buddy.” You joke, playfully.
“Okay!” Buddy giggles in agreement, continuing with her colourful masterpiece as you watch her with a fond smile, “Make you happy, Monkey!”
“It does make me happy, Buddy,” You nod in agreement and smile softly at the little girl sitting beside you, sticking her little tongue out as she puts her whole focus on the artwork.
Maybe this several weeks wouldn’t be so bad if you have your favourite little buddy to cheer you up after all?

UNREAL UNEARTH - HOZIER WRITING CHALLENGE MASTERLIST
------------------------
If there was one word that was always used in tandem with (Y/n)'s name, it was chaos.
Or messy.
Or clumsy.
Or wild.
Or any other word that could possibly mean the same thing.
Early on, (Y/n) could excuse it as inexperience. Maybe age would tame whatever beast seemed to be roaring in their brain and their chest. Maybe someone would explain the best way to leash an animal that was so much larger than you.
No one ever did.
Instead, (Y/n) ended up alone. Alone, terrified, and as out of control as ever. A cruel hand had been dealt to them when they were far too young. And now, the teenager was left coping with things that most adults could not handle.
Meeting Edwin and Charles had been the first good thing to happen to (Y/n) ever.
(Y/n)'s isolated life was interrupted quite abruptly by the ghosts. A case had brought the detectives to (Y/n)'s doorstep. They had been wearing disguises at the time, but those were quickly put away when they learned that (Y/n) was a witch.
A partnership of sorts formed between the three of them. With Edwin, it was more sternly a working relationship. He rarely found himself in (Y/n)'s home, especially when there was no case that required their assistance.
With Charles, it was very different. Charles would visit whenever he wanted to. He would usually be the first to ask for help, popping in through a mirror in the main room. He'd take the time to look around the small living space. And when there wasn't a case, he would pop in whenever. It was commonly just as (Y/n) was sitting down to eat or read or do anything.
Charles and (Y/n) developed an interesting friendship. A friendship that was resting precariously on held tongues. Anyone could see how close the two had gotten to crossing the line between friendship and whatever was on the other side. Anyone other than the pair. They were both trapped in a state of denial. Maybe that was for the best for a time.
(Y/n)'s chaos had been largely hidden away from the detectives. Some would call it careful. (Y/n) called it lucky. Incredibly lucky.
And then there was the case of Rory.
Rory was a young spirit. A young but troubled spirit. The boys had been contacted by a friend saying that Rory was becoming violent. The goal was to find what was tying the spirit to this plane and to send them to the other side.
It had all been going well. All things considered, anyway.
The only problem was time. There was this terrifying ticking clock between the trio knowing about the case and the risk of Rory attempting to hurt someone.
(Y/n) had only been there to help find what had been keeping Rory tied to this plane.
It had been going fine. Absolutely fine.
And then, (Y/n) lost control.
There was an intense moment where Edwin and Charles ended up being thrown in different directions. (Y/n) had tried to help. To get the spirit to stop for just long enough for the detectives to recover.
It didn't work.
Something else had overwhelmed (Y/n)'s efforts.
Whatever it had been had hit the spirit straight on. It had angered it... a lot. It ran at a terrified and confused (Y/n), causing the young witch to hit the ground, the scrape of the road below them causing a hiss to escape.
"(Y/n)!" Charles ran over first. "You alright?"
(Y/n) nodded as they pushed themselves up.
"What was that," Edwin asked as he walked over. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
"I... I don't know," (Y/n) said quietly. "It just... It just happened."
"It was reckless! You could have gotten yourself hurt and now we have to worry about the spirit being angry enough to hurt someone else!"
"Edwin-" Charles tried to get his friend to relax.
"What is wrong with you?" Edwin snapped before Charles could even try to stop him from asking.
"I... I don't know," (Y/n) murmured. "I don't know."
"Maybe it's best if you removed yourself from this case."
"Edwin!" Charles scolded.
"They're a risk!" Edwin insisted.
"He's right," (Y/n) turned to Charles. "I'll go home. Good luck."
Charles followed (Y/n) down the street. (Y/n)'s car sat alone on the street. Not much in terms of subtlety, but (Y/n) also hadn't been graced with the ability of travelling by mirror.
"(Y/n)," Charles said as he jogged to keep up with their quick steps. "Will you wait for a second?"
"Go back to the case, Charles," (Y/n) replied, not even looking at him.
"No," he stepped in front of them, attempting to block the path to the car. "Not until I know you're alright."
"I'm fine," (Y/n) insisted. "Edwin's right."
"No, he's not," he shook his head.
"Yes, he is. I am a risk. I always have been. I've hidden it well, but this was bound to happen at some point."
"What," he asked.
"A long time ago, when I was still with my family, I had issues like that happen all the time," (Y/n) explained. "I would... Something would overwhelm me, and I'd end up doing something dangerous or destructive. No one ever helped me with it. They expected me to sort it out on my own. And then... I hurt someone. Someone I cared about. I... I ended up being forced to leave. I still never truly learned to control anything. Tonight was proof of that!"
"We can help you-"
"That's not your job!" (Y/n) ran their hands over their face. "It's not worth the risk. I could get someone hurt, I could get myself, I could put you both in danger- none of it is worth it!"
"That's not your choice to make," Charles replied. "Any risk or danger is fine with me. I'm not leaving you alone, (Y/n)."
"You should."
(Y/n) moved around him and got in the car. Charles stepped back and watched the car drive off. He turned to see that Edwin had watched the interaction. Charles glared at him.
"It's for the best-"
"Let's just finish the case," Charles muttered, cutting Edwin off.
The case went by slowly and tensely. Charles was gruffer than Edwin had ever seen him. And Edwin had no right to question him about it. It was his comment that had caused this tension and anger. How was he meant to poke at it as if he had no idea what was going on inside the head of his best friend?
Charles didn't stick around the office once the case was done. Instead, he immediately went to the mirror, climbing through to try and see (Y/n) as soon as possible.
He ended up walking into (Y/n)'s room. He was somewhat expecting them to be there.
"(Y/n)!" Charles called out as he walked through the doorway. He stopped for a moment at the chaos that had taken over the living room.
It had been clear that some kind of fight had broken out. Between whom or what, Charles had no real idea. There were smaller objects thrown, furniture shifted, garbage scattered.
"(Y/n)," Charles called again as he walked around some of the mess. And then, he saw (Y/n) lying on the floor on the far side of the sofa. "(Y/n)!"
He ran over, rolling them on their back. They seemed to be breathing, but they were completely non-responsive.
"Shit!"
He shifted and carried (Y/n) to their room, leaving them on top of the bed's covers before he ran back through the mirror.
"Edwin!" Charles shouted even though Edwin was in the same room as him. "Something's wrong with (Y/n). I... I went to check on them and they were unconscious, and their living room was just destroyed. I don't know what happened."
"They're alive?"
"For now!"
"Come on," Edwin pushed Charles toward the mirror again.
Edwin let out a sigh as he walked over to (Y/n). He carefully lifted their eyelid to see if their eyes were responsive. However, all that was there was complete redness that had taken over. As if the eye had been filled with blood, but none of it was running out or swelling.
"Witchcraft," Edwin muttered. "I think I've read about this. Give me a moment to find the book in the office."
"(Y/n) was attacked by a witch?" Charles asked. Edwin was already through the mirror.
It was a suffocating matter of minutes before Edwin made it back to (Y/n)'s place.
"What is it?"
"If I am correct, then (Y/n) is currently trapped in a dream-like state," Edwin explained. "This dream-like state is keeping (Y/n) in a state of calmness while their brain slowly swells and presses against the skull. If we do not cure it fast enough, the swelling will kill them."
"How do we cure it?"
"We have to find a way to delicately wake (Y/n) from their dream-state. There is a cure that we can make, but it will take time."
"Is there another way? Something faster?"
"In theory," Edwin relented. "One of us could possess them and find a way to manually ease them out of the dream. The cure is our best option. Less risk."
"We don't have the time! We don't know how long (Y/n)'s been like this!"
"Charles, if either one of us chooses to possess them, then we set off alarms in the afterlife. We cannot take this risk."
Charles clenched his jaw.
"I will go get the cure started. Keep an eye on (Y/n)."
Charles did try to listen. He stood by and made sure that (Y/n) was breathing. He made sure that they were comfortable and that they were not suffering too immensely.
But then, he panicked.
He saw (Y/n)'s breaths becoming shallower and shallower. He heard nothing from Edwin. He was too worried to think of the consequences of his actions critically in any capacity.
He closed his eyes. When he opened them again, he was in a field.
He did a circle, trying to find some sign of something or someone. This was (Y/n)'s dream after all. They had to be there somewhere.
He saw something in the distance.
Approaching it, Charles could see a clearly outlined garden with a wooden fence around it. On one end was a gate, on the other end a cabin. A small cabin. The garden was beautiful. Full of flowers in full bloom with a swinging bench seat.
Charles almost chuckled at the vision. Something felt so fitting about something so peaceful being what (Y/n) pictured in a dream. Almost as far from their current life as they could get.
(Y/n) walked out of the cabin a moment later. Their clothes matched the garden. Soft, almost pastel colors. Very perfect, very organized.
He stepped forward, going to get their attention but stopped when he saw himself walking out of the cabin soon after. Well, some dream version of him. The other version of him was dressed exactly the same as he was, but it wasn't him. It couldn't have been him.
He watched as this alternate version of him pulled (Y/n) closer and kissed their head. The pair walked to the swinging bench seat, sitting together. (Y/n) relaxed into the fake Charles's side.
The view made the real Charles freeze where he was.
It felt wrong. Invasive.
He had kept his feelings private for as long as he had known (Y/n). He had been convinced that whatever connection the pair of them had was going to stay stuck in whatever form it was already in. Seeing this was a sign of something different. And he didn't know how to feel about that.
"(Y/n)!" he called from where he stood.
(Y/n) seemed to hear something. They paused and looked around but didn't seem to notice Charles. He could've sworn that they looked directly at him, but their eyes seemed to go right through him. As if he was never there.
(Y/n) leaned back into the seat, smiling as the fake Charles laid a kiss on their cheek as they did so.
The real Charles continued walking forward. He tried to think of a way to "delicately" get (Y/n) out of the dream.
"(Y/n)," he repeated, now standing just outside the gate.
Again, (Y/n) looked around but couldn't seem to spot him and was pulled back into the fake Charles's side.
He opened the gate and walked inside.
Neither (Y/n) nor the fake Charles seemed to acknowledge him in the slightest.
"(Y/n)," he said yet again.
(Y/n) again seemed surprised to hear anything, sitting up straight and going to look around until their eyes landed on Charles. They froze, eyes going wide at the sight of him.
"Hi," he grinned.
(Y/n) looked between him and the fake Charles, who was only looking at (Y/n).
"I'm sorry but I need you to come with me," Charles pressed, holding out his hand.
"What," they asked. "Sorry, but there are two of you. What's going on?"
"That's not me," he explained. "I... I don't know what he is, but he's not me."
(Y/n) stood up, stepping away from the bench. Once they were a few steps away from the real and fake Charles, they turned to look at them. The fake Charles didn't move, as if he were simply a mannequin that had to be moved around. He was staring at the space beside him as if (Y/n) was still there.
"You're in a dream," the real Charles explained. "This whole thing is fake."
(Y/n) ran their hands over their face.
"Do you remember how you got here at all," he asked.
"Yeah, I... I...," they trailed off, finding a blank space where some kind of memory definitely should have been.
"You were attacked," he continued. "Another witch found you and attacked you. You aren't standing outside some cabin in a field. You're lying in bed, unconscious."
There was a long pause before (Y/n) spoke up again, "I remember... I remember getting home. I remember someone being in my living room. It was an old friend..."
"You don't have to explain," Charles stopped them. He drew enough of a conclusion from those few sentences. It was some connection to whoever (Y/n) had hurt. Frankly, he didn't care about that. "We need to go."
He held his hand out to them. They finally took it.
He led them back to the gate to the garden. He didn't have any proof that this plan would work, but he didn't have anything else to go on. He just wanted to make sure (Y/n) had a chance at being okay.
Once (Y/n) stepped through the gate, it felt as if Charles was thrown out of (Y/n)'s mind. Like some explosion had happened.
Charles blinked a few times and spun around as he found himself back in (Y/n)'s room.
He heard (Y/n) grumbling. He grinned.
"Hey," he said quietly, going to sit next to them. "How are you feeling?"
"Fine, I guess," (Y/n) muttered. "My head hurts."
"I'll grab some water-"
"Wait, wait," (Y/n) reached for him as he stood up. He somehow managed to get halfway to the door by the time (Y/n) said anything. "I was... I was stuck in my head."
"And now, you're out."
"You... You popped up. You showed up there. You helped me."
"Yup."
"How?"
He paused for a moment.
"Charles..."
"I... possessed you."
(Y/n) sighed, standing up and placing their head in their hands. "Charles."
"It was to save you-"
"Oh my god!"
"I was trying to help-"
"You possessed me!"
"You need to relax-"
"No!" (Y/n) slapped Charles's hands away as he tried to guide them back to bed. "You possessed me!"
"I know that it's an invasion and it probably feels like you had some privacy violated-"
"My privacy isn't my concern," (Y/n) cut him off. "My concern is that you and Edwin have told me over and over again that possessing people sets off alarms in the afterlife. I don't care how close to death I am; you don't get to take that kind of risk for me."
"That's not just your choice," Charles replied. "I told you before, any risk that I take is my choice. I just saved your life!"
(Y/n) ran their hands over their face as they walked to the window. It was dark out. The moon perched itself perfectly to shine into (Y/n)'s room. There had been countless nights where (Y/n) spent ages just staring up at the sky, somehow feeling less alone when it was in sight.
(Y/n) could hear Charles walking to the window. They saw him out of the corner of their eye.
"I would do it again," he admitted. "No matter how much danger I put myself in. I'll do what I have to in order to save you."
"Why?"
"Because if you died, you wouldn't know how to get away from Death. I'd never see you again," Charles turned to (Y/n), who was still staring out the window. "I can run for eternity. I can escape anything and anyone. And I would do that as long as I knew you were at the end of whatever path I was running. I can't risk not seeing you again. You... You mean too much to me."
Finally, (Y/n) looked over at him.
"I... I love you, (Y/n)," he murmured.
(Y/n) loved him back. They knew that. They had for a long time now. But they couldn't bring themself to say it out loud. It was strange. Charles had seen the dream that (Y/n) had been stuck in. Surely, he knew how (Y/n) felt. So why could they still not admit it to him? Maybe it was they were merely scared of confessing it to themself.
"I'm sorry," Charles said after a few moments of silence. "I shouldn't have said that-"
Charles was cut off when (Y/n) stepped over and kissed him. It was as awkward as one would assume that it would be. It wasn't some perfect, fairytale-like kiss. It was an awkward kiss shared between a person who hadn't been kissed in decades and another who had never been kissed before. And it was short. It lasted a matter of moments before (Y/n) pulled back again. They stared at Charles with wide eyes, as if they had been just as surprised by their actions as he was.
He slowly grinned at them.
(Y/n) looked down for a moment, face becoming warm. "We should... We should get Edwin-"
"In a minute," he muttered.
"Charles-"
He leaned over and kissed them again. When he pulled back, there was a smug smile on his face. "You haven't said it back yet."
"What- oh," (Y/n) felt their face get even warmer as they realized what he meant. "I love you too."
It was quiet. As if it was still some kind of secret that no one other than Charles was allowed to know. Maybe (Y/n) meant for it to be that way.
It was then that Edwin climbed back through the mirror with some jars cradled in his arms.
"Alright, I found some things in the office that should be able to help- oh," Edwin muttered as he saw (Y/n) standing there. "You went through with the possession, I see... Even though I told you not to."
"I panicked," Charles explained.
"I already told him off for it," (Y/n) added.
"I think that (Y/n) should stay at the office for a while. Until we know there's not a threat."
Edwin looked between the pair. "Very well."
"I'll meet you guys there," (Y/n) promised.
(Y/n) felt a kiss get pressed to their head before Charles stepped away. They looked at Edwin, who gave them a shocked look in return.
"Well... I'll see you in a bit," (Y/n) said, trying to ignore the look that they had received.
The ghost boys went to the nearest mirror and climbed through. (Y/n) could hear the two of them muttering to each other. It was going to be a very long visit, (Y/n) could tell.
But (Y/n) couldn't find it in themself to mind much.
It was all worth it to be able to still hear them at all.

Rory Keaner Imagines
-the one where he feels alone.
Rory saw his girlfriend Y/n standing at her locker. He walked up to her with his signature bright smile that rarely left his face
"Hey! Do you wanna hang out?" He asked with a smile. Rory had got blown off by Ethan and Benny again. He didn't really want to admit it but he was lonely. He looked at you as he waited for an answer.
“Sorry Rory, I have to babysit after school.” Y/n says feeling a little bad, but it quickly goes away when she remembers that it’s Rory and he’ll bounce back, by next minute.
Rory's face instantly fell but he nodded "Okay. Just- well- have fun, I guess." He said as his smile faded and he walked away. What had once been his happy mood was now replaced with a deep sinking feeling of worthlessness. He tried to brush it off but it stuck with him all the way to his desk.
Y/n gets to lunch and sits with Ethan, Benny, Erica, and Sarah. Y/n looks over and sees that Rory isn’t here. “Uhm guys have you seen Rory?” Y/n asked.
A wave of silence washes over the entire group as they realize that Rory wasn't there. Benny turns toward the door and stares before speaking "No. But I'm sure he'll be fine."
“But he seems really off today, I don’t thin-“ Y/n tries to finish but they push her concern down.
Ethan sighs and speaks "Look, Y/n/n, I know you care. And I know Rory's a great guy, but he has to learn that there are just some things he can't get involved in." Benny and Sarah nod in agreement. They all look at you with expressions of sympathy but also firm resolve.
She leaves the table and goes to look for Rory. After an agonizingly slow class period, school finally let out. Rory walked toward his locker, a miserable look on his face. He was still thinking about the conversation with the group and his mood had only diminished. He heard footsteps behind him and he turned to see you.
“Rory, uhm are you okay?” Y/n asked concerned for Rory, he was never like this. Rory's expression softened as he looked at you. He managed a small, weary smile "Uh, yeah. Yeah. I'm fine." He replied as best he could. He didn't want to admit he was unhappy. He was very embarrassed by his feelings. The last thing he wanted was to look like a coward Infront of you.
It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Rory was upset “Baby you don’t have to lie to me..you can come over while I’m babysitting,” She says trying to resolve the situation.
Rory blinked a few times in disbelief. This was an opportunity he had been dreaming of but he had been certain he wouldn't be this lucky.
"Really? You mean it?" He asked as a smile spread across his face. He began to walk toward you but stopped as he thought of something. "Are you sure that's okay with the people you're sitting for?"
She nods and smiles. Rory's heart soared at your response. It took everything he had not to wrap his arms around your waist as he replied"Alright then. Lead the way."
They get to the house she’s babysitting for. The parents explain everything and head off. Y/n sits on the couch and Rory joined her. “I’m really sorry, for making you seem unwanted,” she says.
Rory looks over, “It’s okay, I know you didn’t mean to love.” Y/n gets closer, “How about I make it up to you.” She says seductively. Rory chuckles.
She gets on her knees before him, and messes with his belt. He stops her hands, “Baby we can’t,” Rory says. “Yes we can, you just have to be quiet,” Y/n says and takes off his belt and he pulls away his hands and puts them beneath his head. He watched his girlfriend get to work.
She pulls down his jeans so he’s only in his boxers. “Someone’s eager, huh?” Y/n teases. He smirks down at her.
She pulls down his boxers and his member comes out hitting his lower abdomen. Y/n kitten licks his tip, which earns a throaty moan from him. He immediately covers his mouth. Y/n smiles. Such a contradiction, she smiles so sinisterly but still has those innocent eyes.
She takes him fully in her mouth and goes at a slow pace. This earns his hips to buck up and he started fuckign her throat.
She gagged but let him do it. She just sat there as he fucked his cock deeper in her throat. She gags a little. The vibration earning a moan from him.
He started thrusting at a relentless pace, trying to reach his peak. He abuses her throat.
His thrusts get sloppier, and he gets faster. His cock twitching in her mouth. She looks up to see him throwing his head back and he hangs his head low showing that face. The face he made before he came. She loved that face. A little crinkle of his nose and a twitch off his lips. He moans breathily. Y/n pulls away and swallows his load.
He threw his head back. Y/n pulls up his underwear and his pants. He buttoned them and put on his belt. Y/n kissed him passionately. Which he easily returned.
“I’m really sorry,” Y/n says sincerely. “You’re okay, stop saying sorry…let just watch a movie, love.” Rory smiles and turns on a movie.

my heart is so jet lagged | rory monahan
・❥・ summary: a long distance relationship with rory while he’s away filming isn’t the easiest ・❥・word count: 1.5k ・❥・warnings: nothing rly just a couple of swear words maybe ・❥・ authors note: hi i love rory and i wrote this in like an hour so 😭 i had a long distance relationship for two years and they are HARD
Another day, another missed call. It seemed to be happening more often lately. When Rory had first left for England three months ago, there wasn’t a single day that went by where you didn’t spend hours upon hours talking to each other on the phone. There had always been a set schedule and nothing would deter either of you from that. Slowly, as the weeks went by, it got harder and harder for the two of you to abide by that schedule. Either something came up on your end or Rory had to film — it sucked but that was life. Sometimes things didn’t go the way you wanted and you had to adjust to it. So, you tried. Those everyday phone calls turned to barely two a week and now you were lucky if you managed to speak to each other once a week. It was one of the worst feelings in the world feeling like you were losing someone you loved so much.
You had first met Rory two years ago at some Hollywood party you’d tagged along to. Your friend was a PA to the stars and was occasionally invited to those big, fancy shindigs that took place after award shows. The one party you had decided to attend happened to be the one that Rory had. It was a chance encounter — he’d been passing by and making some stupid joke and you’d laughed. Of course, he’d stopped and started chatting to you. That was Rory down to a tee. He was a social butterfly. He could make friends anywhere he went — bonus points if they found him funny. The rest of the night the two of you had drank, laughed, made fun of all the celebrities making idiots of themselves. It really had been a pleasant surprise. You’d half expected everyone there to be stuck up but Rory was far from it. He was a normal, down to Earth guy so it was no shocker when he left that night with your phone number.
Truthfully, you hadn’t expected anything of it but when you got a text from him the next day, you couldn’t have been more thrilled. Things escalated from there. He took you out on dates, you made things official and before you knew it the two of you were moving in together. Life with Rory was fun. Everyday felt like a new adventure, it was impossible to have a boring day when he was around.
That was why you felt so… empty now that he was gone.
The days dragged on. You found yourself feeling more exhausted, more irritated by everything around you. There was no smiling Rory to come home to after a hard day's work to make you feel better. There wasn’t even a phone call anymore. It felt like a heavy weight on your chest constantly weighing you down. The entire relationship was hanging on by a thread at this point and you so badly wanted to hang on to it but would it be better to cut it loose? Was Rory feeling the same way?
Throwing your purse on the couch, you sat down just as your phone rang out. Quickly, you pulled it from your purse, seeing Rory’s name on the screen. Your heart was pounding as you accepted the call.
“Herro!” His cheerful voice sounded out.
You could almost cry with how good it felt to hear his voice. “Rory!”
“Hey, babe. Sorry I’m calling at such a weird time but I wanted to hear your voice,” he stifled back a yawn. You could just picture him sprawled out wherever he was using the back of his to cover up his yawn.
“I… I miss you,” you whispered.
“I miss you, too, baby. You have no idea ho-“ He didn’t finish his sentence but you could hear muffled voices in the background then a second later Rory sighed into the phone. “Sorry, hot stuff, gotta go. I’ll call you again tomorrow. I love you.”
“Yeah, I love you, too,” you sighed. The phone call ended and once again you went to bed that night with a heavy heart.
Rory didn’t call the next day but he had sent a text telling you that he had a busy day on set but he’d try to check in when he could. Everyday without him was getting harder and harder. You knew when he got this big job and was flying across the other side of the ocean that it would be hard. You just didn’t think it would be this hard. Rory was the love of your life, he meant everything to you but sometimes you had to let go of the things you loved. Inside your brain you were fighting every single day between holding on or giving up.
One night when you called and he picked up, you couldn’t handle it anymore, trying to explain how you felt but it all came out in a jumble of words. At first the phone call had been normal — small talk and him telling you about his days but it only made you miss him more so you ended up word vomiting.
“I don’t know if I can keep doing this, Rory. Every single day without you is like a knife to my heart. It hurts and… this isn’t me being selfish because I love you and I’m so, so happy and proud of you for doing what you love but… we’re growing more and more apart every single day. We barely speak and when we do it feels… strained. Maybe…. maybe this isn’t work anymore,” you choked back a sob. If this is what heartbreak felt like then you hated every single second of it. It felt like your heart had been ripped out, stomped on then put back in.
“Babe, no,” Rory instantly panicked. “I know it’s hard b-but we’ll be okay. We can make this work. Please. Please don’t do this.”
Tears were falling freely down your face now. “I… dont know, Rory. I just don’t know.”
“…okay,” he sounded deflated, like his whole world had fallen apart. “I’m sorry.”
The phone call ended and, once again, you went to bed but this time not with a heavy heart but a broken one.
Getting out of bed the next day was hard. All you wanted to do was bury your head in your pillows and sleep the day away. Maybe then you wouldn’t have to think about the hurt in Rory’s voice or how you’d just lost the best thing you’d ever had. A day in bed sounded great but the insistent knocking at the door was enough to make you get out of the comfy confines of your safe haven. Pulling the front door open, you were greeted with the fiery red hair that you were so fond of.
“Ro-“ You started but he stopped you by obnoxiously placing his finger on your lips to shush you.
“Let me talk. By the way, sorry for knocking, couldn’t find my keys and then I tried to climb in through the kitchen window but you’ve locked it which is smart. You’ve always been the smart one. We’re like Pinky and the Brain. You’re the brain and I’m the dumb one that just goes along with everything you do…. okay, I’m rambling,” he laughed half heartedly. “Look, last night, that phone call? It was the worst moment of my life. The feeling of losing you? I never want to experience that shit again. No job is more important than you. I need you to know that you are and always have been the number one thing on my mind. Seriously, what was that thing Taylor Swift said? Living in my head rent free, that’s you.”
“Rory…”
“Not done, babe. I love the shit out of you. So much so that I literally hopped on a plane the second we hung up last night so I could come and see you. I’m honestly not sure what time or day it is right now but that doesn’t matter because I’m here with you. Don’t give up on us… on me. Please.”
The sincerity in his eyes brought tears to yours. The last few weeks really had been an emotional rollercoaster but here he was right in front of you fighting for you. How could you give this man up? “I don’t want to. I just… couldn’t take it. The not talking, the being so far away from each other. I love you so much. I was trying to protect my heart and failing really badly.”
“We’ll make it work, okay?” He stepped inside, kicking the door closed behind him and taking your hands in his. “I can come visit you, you come visit me and we’ll get back to calling each other every night. This isn’t happening again.”
“I like the sound of that,” you smiled.
“Now, what’s it gonna take for a guy to get a kiss after a big romantic gesture like this?” Rory grinned as he grabbed your hips and pulled you into him. With a laugh - and a healed heart - you pressed your lips against his for the first time in months. It felt like home, like everything was going to be okay.

THERE SHE GOES — DEAN F.
⤷ Just tooth-rotting fluff of you talking to Dean Forrester for the first time. ᡣ𐭩
cw: fem!reader, so much fluff and sweetness, just reader being a girl, this is s1 dean since he’s the only i’ve seen, no rory au lmao, unbeta’d so grammar and spelling mistakes are probably there, english is not my first language :,) banner || gif
“Here are the keys, darlin’.” The item jingled in between Ms. Patty’s fingers as it landed on your palms, barely catching it from falling on the piles of snow on the ground. You were never really the graceful one. It took you about a year of living in Stars Hallow to get used to Ms. Patty’s natural whimsicalness and spontaneous energy—you’re not getting any smoother by the days.
You shoved the keys down your pocket, watching as she walked down the small set of stairs. “You’re closing a bit earlier today. Something happened?”
“Tomorrow’s Bid on a Basket, honey! I gotta make my own set for the wonderful event—maybe I’ll be able to enjoy some of my fresh cakes with a fine man,” Ms. Patty winked, giggling to herself. “A lot of people are joinin', I heard. Are you not participating?”
Your mouth contorted into a mixture of a smile and a frown—if that was even possible—as you awkwardly chuckled. “Probably not this time, Ms. Patty.”
As much as you wished to join the fundraiser, most of your free time in the morning was consumed with homework and your jobs. Your mom’s decision to switch jobs last month caused a bit of a financial strain in the family, resulting in you taking on more jobs as she adjusted to her new work.
“I’m working a shift at Luke’s tomorrow. I won’t have the time to make the food and hang out with the lucky bidder.” Your lips formed into a straight line as you looked at her. “Who’s always been my mom, anyway.”
“Don’t be so down, honey. I’m sure there’s a special boy who’s willing to pay for your basket.”
“That’s not—”
“I heard the new boy in your school started working in the grocery store a few weeks ago. Maybe he had some paychecks to spare.”
You snorted at her words. “Ms. Patty, c’mon.”
She had a proud expression as she finally took off, leaving you by yourself at the studio. “See you tomorrow, honey.” You waved goodbye as she left. She was truly an unpredictable woman—you would be lying if you said you didn’t wish to have at least a quarter of her confidence.
You knew of this ‘new boy’ she was talking about. Stars Hallow High School was not big enough for mystery; everyone knows each other if not by name, face, or by being their parents’ friend’s kid. Dean Forester joined a month into the semester, and you were surprised he wasn’t as popular as you expected him to be. But, at the same time, if it weren’t your shared classes with him, you barely saw the boy outside the building.
Lane, one of your childhood friends, was particularly fond of Dean’s friend, Todd. There were moments where you wished you could join on in your friend’s excitement, but—as Lane had commented several times—you were too busy making money to even notice the boys around you. But one single afternoon in between classes, you caught yourself staring far too intensely at Dean when he passed by the hallway when he suddenly met your eyes. You couldn’t recall what you did when it happened, just that it resulted in a startled Lane and a booming sound of your locker closing.
Have you been purposely avoiding him ever since? Yes. It’s not like the two of you talked anyway. Though it didn’t help when you began noticing him in Doose’s market more often than you liked.
You sighed, shaking your head at the one-sided chaos you’ve managed to create in the midst of the boy’s arrival. You weren’t exactly “boy crazy” as Lane’s mom would call the girls in your school, but you’re literally just a girl.
“God forbid I find a guy attractive.” You mumbled to yourself as you began to close the doors of Ms. Patty’s studio. The children had ballet today, so there were twice the amount of tutus inside; an array of pinks, blues, and whites decorated the wooden floors.
As you cleaned up the rest of the clutter, closing boxes and stacking them in the same way you saw them last night, you noticed one particular box was by the door, the heaviest one.
Inside were miscellaneous items (you’re sure some of them were lost as well) and you’ve experienced several aging moments after carrying them all the way to where they should be in the studio—the opposite side of the room.
You stifled a sigh, rolling up the sleeves of your sweater as you crouched down. Whatever was inside the box, new or not, doubled the weight you carried yesterday, and you prayed this wouldn’t be the reason you’ll hurt your back.
Just as you were about to put your hands on the bottom of the box, you heard footsteps on the wooden stairs; one of the hinges on the doors creaked. You had no time to look up and see who it was before you heard the unfamiliar voice.
“Need any help?” Without warning, a face you’ve been dreading to see came into view. His hair fell on both sides of his head as he lowered himself in front of you and the large box.
Dean grinned, his pearly whites showing themselves, and God, why did he have such eye-catching dimples?
You were sure something in your head was short-circuited because of how much you stumbled on your reply. “I- yes, I guess, if you want to- it’s totally up to you, if you want… to help.”
He chuckled at your response, and you can’t really blame him for that, but you decided to ignore the gnawing embarrassment you felt as you laughed along with him. It was the first you’ve ever heard his laugh—his voice in general, actually—and somehow, with your logic, you thought it fitted him perfectly.
You saw his arm move around behind the box in between the two of you, as if looking for something underneath. Dean still had a smile on his face as he readjusted himself on the floor, mimicking your crouched position. It took you by surprise to feel his hand on yours, and you had to fight back the urge to flinch.
“Here, take both of your hands under these corners, and I’ll take the opposite,” Dean instructed, moving your hands into position. You brushed off the thought of how his hands consumed yours. “then we’ll stand up on three.”
You nodded, feeling the weight of the box shift as he adjusted his grip. “One… two… three.” The two of you rose together, the box hovering between you, expectedly heavy but manageable as you moved in sync.
The two of you placed the box on the ground with a huff. You had to stretch your back as you stood up. Dean was doing the same thing, though his expression seemingly filled with amusement. He doesn’t say anything and you raised an eyebrow at this.
“What?” You said, pulling down your sleeves.
Dean shook his head. “It’s nothing. I, um, wasn’t expecting to see you here. Do you work for Ms. Patty?”
You caught the way he changed the subject, but decided to leave it alone for now. “Aren’t we all?”
This caused a chuckle from him as he scratched the back of his neck. “That’s true. I still haven’t thanked her for getting me a job at Doose’s.”
Dean followed you around the studio as you continued to pick up props and tutus off of the floor. He would grab what looked out of place and parroted where you’d place them. You didn’t protest at his presence—as much as you wanted to for the sake of your own mental health—and allowed him to help along. Besides, you didn’t have the heart to kick him out, and while your brain protested, your heart wasn’t exactly against Dean.
“The best thank you you could give her is probably keeping the job she gave you,” you joked and followed up with, “and bid on her basket.”
As you chucked the last baton inside with the others, you turned around and almost bumped into Dean with how close he was.
“Wish I could, but I was told to go do a quick morning shift just in case people would do their last minute baking.” He tilted his head slightly, his voice filled with humor.
“Sounds great. Let me know if you need a morning boost; I’ll be at Luke’s serving the best coffee around.”
Dean nodded, a grin making its way to his face, and said, “I’ll make sure to visit.” There was a few seconds of silence before he picked up his eyes to look at you. “You’re not going to do a basket?”
“No, not this year. Life’s been busting my tail lately, so I don’t really have the time.” You shrugged, putting your hands behind your back as you awkwardly leaned against one of the wooden boxes.
“That’s a shame,” Dean replied, walking over to your side to rest his back on one of the boxes as well. Your shoulders touched—specifically your shoulder against the side of his upper arm—and it all dawned on you at how tall he was.
You turned your head to look at him, failing to hide your surprise when he was already looking over at you.
“A shame? How so?”
“I’d bid the highest, for sure. Just hanging out with your famous cupcakes Lane talked about.”
You’ve recalled several instances in your life when you were physically stunned at a person, but none of them could compare to what’s happening. Dean’s eyes were still on you, waiting for a reaction, a response, literally anything, and yet you just stood there like a flustered child receiving your first love letter.
It’s a lot more important to remember that you’ve never spoken to this boy before. You knew one day your worlds would collide eventually in the small town of Stars Hollow, but you’ve never realized it was happening right under your nose.
And since when Dean and Lane talked?
You and her were always attached to the hip, telling each other every single little detail about the in-between moment of the day when the two of you weren’t together. She’s never mentioned talking to Dean about you.
“You don’t need to spend money to hang out with me.” was the next best thing of a response you could think of. “I mean, you’re doing it right now.”
Dean chuckled, nodding. “Yeah, I guess I am.”
“And if you wanted to try my cookies, try visiting Luke’s,” you added, having a little bit more confidence in your tone this time. “But you have to buy them at the exact time we opened; there’s a reason why Lane calls it famous.”
A grin was on your face as soon as you heard his laugh. Your previous panic seemed to die down as a calm silence washed over you two. The doors to the studio were still wide open, letting in the cold breeze of the night brush past you and Dean.
The sweater you wore didn’t help your spine from shivering. You wore whatever you saw first in your closet when Ms. Patty called, and you weren’t exactly planning to stay for this long.
The sound of rustling made you look over at Dean. “What are you doing?”
He took his leather jacket off of him, that boyish smile on his face again, as he placed it on your shoulder. “I heard it’s going to be especially cold tonight.”
You made no effort to protest as his hands gently tucked the jacket on your shoulders, brushing some of your hair on the back of your ears. The freezing temperature inside the studio only made the heat on your cheeks twice as noticeable.
Dean patted you down, in attempt to warm you up, before retracting his hands to his side. “Better?”
You snuggled further into the leather jacket, taking in the familiar musk you’ve been smelling since the boy got here. “Yeah. Thank you, Dean.”
Maybe skipping one shift at Luke’s wouldn’t hurt.

So you're the neighbour?
Pairing: Slate x shy!reader
YN, a quiet new tenant, meets Slate who isn't so much like her roommates said, charming but notorious neighbour, who seizes an excuse to walk her home, sparking curiosity and unexpected warmth in their budding connection.
Chapter Warning: Contains mild language and flirtation.
You're curled up on the corner of the couch, fingers wrapped around a mug of chamomile tea, listening as Rory and Quinn take turns venting to Reid about the new neighbours. The place feels so much like it did in those cozy shows— the three of you squished together in the mismatched furniture you all pooled money for, the warm tones of fairy lights draping the walls, and the faint scent of Rory's floral candles mingling with Quinn's citrusy hand sanitizer.
“Those idiots blocked our moving truck, Reid!” Rory huffs, crossing her arms and leaning forward as if the proximity makes her point stronger. She’s clearly the most riled up, her voice rising in indignant pitches. “Who even parks like that?”
“Definitely jerks,” Quinn jumps in, raising an eyebrow as she looks over at Rory, as if egging her on. “I mean, how self-centred do you have to be to not realize there’s a giant moving truck behind you?”
You weren’t outside to see the whole ordeal; you'd been buried inside your new bedroom, unpacking boxes and finding space for all your things in the tiny closet. Still, even though you’d missed the confrontation, you’re quietly enjoying the picture they’re painting — a dramatic scene of feisty glares, whispered insults, and exaggerated gestures toward the oblivious guys next door.
Reid, meanwhile, leans back on the armrest, trying and failing to suppress a smile. He's always been a little too amused by Rory and Quinn’s fiery personalities, and now isn’t any different. His gaze shifts to you as you sit, nibbling on the inside of your cheek, debating whether to say something. You want to stand by your friends’ annoyance, but you can't help but think there might be another side to it.
“I mean… maybe they didn’t notice?” you offer softly, looking down at your tea. “It could’ve just been a mistake.”
Quinn raises an eyebrow at you, playful but unconvinced. “You’re way too nice, you know that?”
Rory sighs dramatically, throwing her hands up. “Exactly! That’s why you weren’t out there with us. You’d have been like, ‘Oh no, I’m sure they’ll move it soon,’ and we’d be stuck waiting even longer.”
You blush, glancing over to Reid, who’s now grinning in earnest, clearly entertained by the way you’re trying to defuse things. “What? It’s… possible,” you mumble, feeling your cheeks warm under their teasing. “Maybe they’re just, you know… not used to sharing a driveway?”
Reid chuckles, his gaze softening. “You’re seriously too cute for this world, you know that?” He shakes his head, still smiling as if he can’t believe anyone would defend complete strangers who’d clearly disrupted the day.
The others laugh, too, albeit a little grudgingly, as if your gentleness and hope for the best might actually rub off on them despite themselves. Rory reaches over, patting your knee. “Fine, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, this time. But only because you’re too sweet to argue with.”
Rory stretches her arms overhead and glances at Quinn, who’s tapping her phone, probably searching for a new café to hit up. “Alright, who’s up for coffee?” she asks, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. “Reid’s buying!”
Quinn elbows him with a smirk. “You heard her, Mr. Moneybags. You’re treating.”
Reid rolls his eyes, but a smile plays at the corner of his mouth as he pulls his wallet out, flipping it open. “Lucky me,” he says dryly, though his tone has a playful warmth.
Rory turns to you, a hopeful grin on her face. “Come on, YN, get out of this cave with us.”
You hesitate, wrapping your hands tighter around your now-cold mug. “Oh, I… I actually need to study,” you say, doing your best to sound genuinely disappointed. But it’s only half-true. You do have some reading to catch up on, but really, you just need a little time to recharge after all the unpacking and the roommates' high-energy complaints.
Rory gives you a knowing look, but she just shrugs. “Suit yourself,” she says, though there’s a hint of motherly concern in her eyes, one you’re all too familiar with.
Quinn’s already zipping up her jacket, rolling her eyes fondly. “Classic. Our little introvert needs her quiet time.” She taps the top of your head gently, an affectionate gesture that makes you smile despite yourself.
It’s a bit of a running joke in your apartment. Rory, ever organized and a little bossy, has long been deemed “the mom,” while Quinn, who often takes a rougher, more sarcastic approach, is dubbed “the dad.” Which, of course, makes you “the kid,” a label you don’t mind — at least not when it’s given with such obvious affection.
As the three of them head to the door, Rory calls out over her shoulder, “Alright, kiddo. Don’t cause any trouble while we’re gone.”
Quinn leans against the doorframe, giving you a mock-stern look. “No boys allowed. And definitely no hanging out with those awful neighbours.”
You roll your eyes, laughing despite yourself. “Promise, Dad,” you say, playing along.
Reid laughs as he gives you a small wave, a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. “See you later, YN.”
“Bye Reid.”
With that, they’re gone, and the apartment is quiet once again. You breathe a sigh of relief, settling into the silence. It's peaceful, comforting even, just you and the gentle hum of the fridge in the kitchen, the distant sounds of laughter and footsteps down the hall.
Finally, you can relax, letting the little escape of solitude settle over you like a blanket....
You sink back into the couch, legs stretched out over the cushions as you settle deeper under your blanket. The soft glow of the TV fills the room, the familiar characters and storyline offering a cozy sort of distraction. It’s one of those comfort shows you’ve seen a hundred times, the kind that lets you just relax without thinking too much. You pull your blanket up to your chin, feeling the quiet warmth of the empty apartment.
Just as you’re starting to drift into the story, your phone buzzes with a text from Rory.
Rory: “Hey, kiddo, can you take the trash out? Pretty please? :)”
You sigh, casting a glance toward the trash bag sitting beside the front door, already tied up and ready to go. Typical Rory — somehow managing to organize the place even when she’s not here. You sit up, reluctantly pulling yourself from the couch and shivering a little as the cool air hits you. Slipping into an oversized jumper, you tug the sleeves down over your hands, enjoying the extra warmth. Next come your trusty old Uggs, their plush lining cozy against your feet. You grab the trash bag and twist it in your hand, holding it at arm’s length as you make your way to the front door.
The hallway is quiet, and you’re grateful for it as you shuffle to the elevator at the end of the corridor. The trash bag swings lightly as you walk, its weight surprisingly heavy with the remnants of unpacking — empty boxes, crumpled paper, a few random food containers you’d forgotten about until today.
You press the button, waiting as the ancient elevator creaks its way up. The doors finally slide open with a reluctant groan, and you step inside, hitting the ground floor button. The elevator jolts to life, shuddering slightly as it descends, the fluorescent light overhead flickering ominously. You’ve never trusted this elevator; it feels like it’s one bad day away from breaking down entirely, and each ride is a gamble.
As you ride down, you lean against the wall, watching the floors tick by slowly, each number lighting up with a faint glow. The trash bag feels heavier with each floor, and you’re suddenly eager to be done with this task.
Finally, the doors open with a rusty whine, and you step out, making your way toward the large apartment bin outside. The night air is cool, a slight breeze tugging at your sleeves as you approach the bin.
As you toss the trash bag into the bin, you take a moment to breathe in the cool night air, letting the silence settle around you. Just as you’re about to turn and head back inside, a voice sounds behind you.
“Hey,” the voice says, low and casual.
You jump, spinning around, heart pounding as you clutch the front of your jumper. Standing just a few feet away is a tall guy with a relaxed smile, his hands shoved into the pockets of a well-worn hoodie. His dark hair falls messily over his forehead, and his eyes have a sharp but easy-going glint to them.
“Whoa, sorry! Didn’t mean to scare you,” he says, raising his hands in a placating gesture. His smile softens, a little apologetic but amused. “Didn’t think anyone else would be out here this late.”
You offer a small, awkward laugh, still catching your breath. “No, it’s… it’s fine. Just, um, wasn’t expecting anyone.”
He nods, giving you a quick once-over. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around before. New here?”
You nod, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. “Yeah, I, uh, just moved in.”
He nods, taking that in with a thoughtful look. “Nice. I’m Slate, by the way,” he says, holding out a hand. His voice has an easy warmth to it, and you find yourself relaxing a bit.
You give a small smile as you take his hand, his grip warm and surprisingly gentle. “YN.”
“YN,” he repeats, as if testing the name. “Cool. So, you’re the new neighbour, then?”
It takes you a second, but realization dawns slowly. He’s one of them — the infamous boys your roommates have been complaining about nonstop since you moved in. The ones who blocked the moving truck and left your friends fuming. You blink, a little taken aback, and can’t help a flicker of curiosity as you study him a bit more closely. His expression is friendly, almost inviting, and he seems far too laid-back to match the image your roommates painted.
“You… you live on my floor?” you ask, a little wary.
Slate’s face lights up in recognition, and he lets out a low laugh. “Ahh, so you’re the one with the roommates who were throwing death glares at us the other day?”
You bite back a smile, nodding. “Yeah… they weren’t too happy about the whole moving truck thing.”
He rubs the back of his neck, a sheepish grin crossing his face. “Yeah, I figured Knoxie might’ve been in the way, but… well, sorry about that. He's sorta moody.”
You shrug, feeling a little of your earlier apprehension melt away. “It’s okay. They, um… they just tend to get a little intense about stuff.”
Slate laughs, nodding. “Good to know.” He pauses, glancing back toward the building. “Well, welcome to the building, YN. Guess we’re neighbours.” He flashes you a grin, and you can’t help but smile back, feeling a strange mix of nerves and intrigue.
As Slate starts to walk away, he pauses, glancing back over his shoulder. “Hey, are you heading back in?”
You nod, feeling the slight chill of the night air sinking in and grateful for the thought. “Yeah. Just… finished up with the trash,” you say, gesturing vaguely toward the bin.
“Well, come on, then.” He falls into step beside you, hands in his hoodie pockets, a relaxed smile on his face as you walk toward the building’s entrance.
The two of you step into the quiet lobby, and you press the button for the elevator, feeling the lingering warmth of his presence beside you. The silence between you is oddly comfortable, and you catch yourself stealing glances at him from the corner of your eye, trying to piece together the neighbour your friends have built up into a villain. He looks nothing like the “jerk” they made him out to be. In fact, there’s a boyish charm to his expression, something almost disarming. He look...cute.
As you both wait, an older woman approaches from down the hall, pulling a small cart loaded with grocery bags behind her. Slate notices her at the same moment you do, and, without warning, he reaches out, his hand warm and firm as he grabs your arm and tugs you gently but insistently toward the stairwell door.
“Uh—what are you doing?” you ask, trying to keep up as he guides you to the stairs, his grip firm yet careful.
He just chuckles, pulling open the door to the stairwell. “Trust me, I don’t think we’d survive that elevator ride.”
You glance over your shoulder toward the elevator, watching the woman slowly approach, and it clicks. It’s an old elevator, slow and cramped; it’s likely you’d end up stuck in a painfully long, silent ride with a stranger if you’d waited.
You narrow your eyes at him, intrigued and slightly amused. “So that’s it? You just don’t like crowded elevators?”
He shakes his head, a glint of something mischievous in his eyes as he gestures for you to go first down the stairs. “Honestly? It’s just an excuse,” he says, his voice soft but playful as he follows behind you. “Figured if I took the stairs, I’d get a bit more time talking to a pretty face.”
You feel your cheeks warm, caught off guard by his words. A smile tugs at your lips, and you glance back at him as you descend the first few steps. “Is that so?”
He shrugs, the same easy-going smile on his face. “What can I say? I’m not about to pass up an excuse to walk a neighbour home.”
@azsazz I loved your book soooo much hope you enjoyed this little write up!

You asked, you shall receive. @exuberantocean
🌘Sleepy Doctor Head Canons 🌒
(And more)
♤ 9 barley ever sleeps when he has companions. He'd try to sleep the bare minimum that he could, hence why he was so tired as 10.
♤ 9 will lay with you if you asked, but you're hilarious if you think he's going to sleep. He has too much to think about, and if he falls asleep, there's a chance of grusome nightmares. Yeah, it's not happening, mate, sorry.
♤ When he does sleep its ussually sitting upright. The TARDIS has scolded him multiple times for dozing off while literally standing. He just crosses his arms and nods off like someone's uncle at a boring cookout.
♤ He slept a little more when it was just Rose and Him, but was far too nervous to let her near him when he was asleep in fear he'd hurt her from bad dreams. (He's strangled companions in the past and would be devistated if he did that to her.)
☆10 is a sleepy boy. He doesn't sleep as much as 12 or 14, but he definitely does try to get at least SOME sleep every day(night)
☆If for some reason he can't sleep that long for multiple days in a row, he becomes cranky. He needs at least 4 out of the 24 hours per day, He likes 6 every night (specifically if they're on earths clock) from 2 am to 8 am. Sometimes, he will sleep 8 if he's really tired, but often doesn't because he's far too busy or energetic.
☆ 10 likes sleeping with companions (OI! Knock it off, you nasty animals! Don't make me spray you.) This being said, Rose is definitely his favorite, and she is the only one he feels comfortable with being actually asleep.
☆ Meaning if Rose is not around? You will not catch him deep sleeping. He doesn't trust himself to fully sleep around others yet. He doesn't close off the cuddle pile, though, so anyone can join. As long as Rose is there to calm him if something goes sideways in his head.
☆ He really likes curling up and his hair being played with until he falls asleep. The second you stop stroking his head back cheeks, he likes anywhere, really. He wakes up and whines and asks why'd you stop.
♧ 11 is like trying to get.. well.. an 11 year old to go to sleep. It's going to take some work and some bribing. He's a "naps add up" kind of guy rather than a full term.
♧ Will he sleep in front of others? Yes. Will he also purposly stay up all night so that he doesn't have to chance a nightmare? Yes. Do I see him taking naps with Rory in random sitting upright chairs with his arms crossed and his fez tilted down? Also, yes.
♧ 11 much rather go Go GO than go to bed. When he does actually sleep in a bed, it's usually fully clothed so he can jump up if needed. Stuffies are optional but appreciated.
♧ If your goal is to tire him out for bed? Good luck. The only person who can successfully get him to go to bed is River, and even then, that's only if she plays with his hair and promises to him nothing will happen if he dozes off for an hour or two. That she'll "Watch the universe" for him. When he asks what will happen, she just smiles and says "Spoilers, sweetie. Spoilers."
◇ Despite the fact he jumped out the bedroom window the second anyone wasn't watching him, 12 has come to learn to like beds and sleeps like a mideval peasent whos been struck by plauge.
◇ He snores loudly, breaths heavily, grunts, rolls, kicks, you name it, he does it, but he sleeps with his mouth open, so most times he keeps water near him if hes in a bed. If he's in a chair upright, his snores are much quiter. Maybe it's because he's older, maybe it's because when he nods off, it's more of a passing out rather than a willing thing, so he never gets too deep into the RIM cycle.
◇ He claims that he doesn't enjoy touching or hugging, that he's "not that kind of person," but you can catch him hugging pillows as if they were people he once knew..
◇ If you're really lucky and he's having a bad time, he might ask you to sleep in the same bed with him, but don't expect to be cuddled rather than stared at the entire night.
◇The only person who has succeeded in cuddles is probably Missy, and it was by force. Missy likes her cuddles. (Maayybbee Clara, but he's kind of afraid of crushing her. Time Lords are heavy, you know.)
◇ 12 nods off like a grandpa in church after 2:15 pm. but not nearly as much as 14, and never mid conversation. Mid movie though? Always.
◇If he's having a hard time getting to sleep, he'll litsen to 80s rock.
♡ 13 gets anxious when asked to sleep. She had 20 years' worth of sleep already from Prison. She doesn't want to sleep any time soon. Bunk beds are not cool anymore.
♡ Much like 11, she would rather not sleep unless she has too and would prefer moving on and pushing through then sleeping. She can leave sleep for the next one (which she did)
♡ You can often find her staying up tinkering for multiple nights until she physically crashes while there's a tool in her hand and WHOOPS there goes the TARDIS!! Now something is on fire, but oh well. She'll be fine.
♡ 13 ADORES cuddling and holding hands while laying down. Just don't ask her to go to sleep or else she will become worrisome. She is the type of incarnation that needs to relax enough to fall asleep on her own, without prompt or mention of going to sleep. Yaz has gotten her to fall asleep a few times, and after that, it's cat laws. No moving allowed.
● As mentioned before, 14 is always nodding off in random places. The Noble's entire property is a big spot with the label "SAFE FOR SLEEPING" on it, whether it be the couch with Wilf, in a rocking chair, the kitchen chairs, the lawn chairs outside, up in his room in the attic, hell sometimes you'll catch him on the floor in Rosie's room.
● They *were* talking about homework and UNIT, but he got mid way through a story and passed out on the carpet in which Rosie put a weighted blanket on him and gave him some stuffed animals she made. This is usually how it goes. If he falls asleep anywhere but his own room, he can almost always wake up to a blanket on him (or his coat on him) and at least one plushie.
● About once a week, its not rare for Sylvia to come down in the morning and see him sleeping at the kitchen table in his robe, For Donna to find him snoring on the couch with Wilfred and make a joke about 'which one is grandad?' Or for Shaun to come home only to see a man cuddled up with his wife in their bed. At this point, he doesn't even mind it, just joins right in.
"Night terrors again?"
"Ooh.. yeah, Sorry. He just sort of crawled in."
"Like Rose used too?"
"Exactly like that. But if he comes tellin' me he threw up, I might slap him."
"Well, scoot over, This is my bed too innut?"
●The nighbors used to be concerned about an alien living in Donna's attic, but now they just adore him and give Donna a ring if they get too worried. Bassically, the whole neighborhood is on Doctor Duty. He aint dying on their watch.
"y'ello?"
"Ohh, Hello Donna."
"Hello Marjorie... is this about the doctor?"
"Oh yes Im sorry, I know you said he's alright, but it's been almost 5 hours, and he hasn't budged an inch."
"Alright, one second- OI!! GET UP AND GET YER ARSE INSIDE! YOU'RE SCARING THE NEIGHBORS AGAIN!"
And that's usually when he startles awake and is forced into the house. If he doesn't wake up from that, he gets a slap. If that doesn't wake him up, 15 is called to take care of it.
● Thursdays, he is especially tired because therapy causes him emotional disregulation, and crying that much can make someone tired.
(These specifc Head canons portrayed in "The Man in the Attic" On Ao3)
■ Take one look at this man and tell me if you think he sleeps on a regular schedule or not. The awnser is No. When 15 does sleep, it's either a long time for 1 day or short amounts for multiple days. No in between.
■ He likes sleeping somewhere cozy and dimmed with orange/ yellow lights. I can see him snoozing in the memory Tardis with Ruby. He also goes stargazing with Ruby and sometimes nods off after a few hours of that but him in a bed? Never.
■ Sometimes, he pops by to nap with 14 because what's more therapeutic than cuddling yourself? Can't be snuck up on and attacked if there's an angry red head downstairs willing to fight the ToyMaster himself if he decided to try and wake up her dear friends the Doctor.
■ He enjoys sleeping with someone he knows well enough not to kill him/ will protect him if someone tries. This list so far invovles Ruby, Mel, Himself, (and Rouge if he didn't immediately dip out), possibly Rose if Donna allows it. (Hes kinda scared of her)

Favourite thing you’ve created (or seen created) for the fandom? Darkness comes before the Dawn with the most amazing art by Nosho @creepkinginc and magical words by Sky @transmurderbug and help from Julia @blue-disco-lights
Why is it your favourite? I love everything about it! Mute Mickey speaks to me (pun intended) and I love the raven & fox metaphor for Mickey & Ian. Also, that art, I'm STILL blown away by it, really.
Did it come easily or was it hard to create? the deadline was something I'd rather not repeat 😂 the story itself just came to us, that was amazing 🥰
Last ao3 fic you commented on? The Circus, Hysterical Light, Angel Of Music, Guide And Guardian (Grant To Me Your Glory) - all wonderful and amazing fics! 🧡
Biggest WIP heartache you’ve ever experienced? Reckoner but I have NO doubt at all that it will be concluded one day! 🥰
Favorite trope or head cannon you like included in a fanfic? when they have pets! also any kind of mystical and magical world will draw me in any time.
Least favourite? not a fan of anyone dying.
Secret or surprising kink or trope? is it a surprise that I like them being softies? no? then I don't have an answer for this one 😂
Describe how you feel after you’ve created something new? right after I'm glad to be finished but when I post it online and all stays quiet I convince myself everyone HATES it and I'm a terrible terrible writer who should never write again 😂 anyway, support WIPs and leave comments everyone! 😁
Top hype man you have that always helps you get across the finish line: my besties, Nosho & Sky, Julia always, the discord crew, Alice, Comet, Pie, Nora, Jess, you all help so much!! I'm very lucky to have you all 🧡

“So, my place or yours?”
“What?”
“My place or yours?”
Ethan looked to the side in thought, “Oh! My house is fine, unless you want to do it at yours?”
“I’m fine with that! Now, should we work on the essay before the poster board?”
“Sure, that sounds good to me.”
“Okay, then we’ll do that today and work on the poster board throughout the week. After school today works for you, right?”
“Yep. Um, around what time are you planning on coming? Any time is fine, but you know, just to be prepared."
"I think about five, if that’s fine?"
Ethan nodded, "That works."
-
As soon as he left for lunch, he walked over to the cafeteria to find Benny. He found him and Rory sitting at their usual lunch table.
"Hey." Ethan smiled as he joined Benny and Rory.
Benny looked up from his lunch, "Finally. What took you so long?"
Ethan rolled his eyes, taking a seat in between his friends. "I’m only a minute late."
“Only?”
“So did you get assigned partners in Chemistry?” Rory finally spoke up, accidentally interrupting Benny at the perfect time.
“I did, actually. Y/N. You know them?”
Benny’s eyes widened. “Of course I know Y/N. They’re so hot.”
Rory paused, “Wait, Y/N from our English?”
Benny nodded, and once Rory realized who it was, his eyes widened too. “Man, you’re lucky.”
Ethan scoffed at his friends' reactions. "Well we've been getting along pretty well. They’re really, really smart. And they’re coming over today, actually."
Benny wiggled his eyebrows immediately. "Coming over, huh? Is this a study session or...?"
Ethan nudged Benny. "Come on, man. Obviously a study session. This is like our fourth time talking ever.”
“Ethan. You know you guys have talked way more than that. And you know you have a crush on them.”
“Whatever.”
Rory chimed in, "Well, it sounds like a good time. Just remember to be yourself and use protection."
Ethan choked on air, “Rory, stop saying things like that out of nowhere.”
“Sorry.”
-
As the lunch period ended, the boys went their separate ways to attend their afternoon classes. But Ethan's mind couldn't help but wander to the upcoming study session with you. He was growing more excited with each minute, anticipating the chance to spend time with you outside of school.
He knew the whole point was to do a project, but Benny was right. He did have a crush on you, which only made this study session more nerve-wracking.
The final bell rang, signaling the end of the day, and Ethan hurriedly packed up his stuff. Thoughts of the study session with you consumed his mind, mixing with the butterflies in his stomach. He couldn't shake off the nervousness.
Benny went over to Ethan’s for a bit before going home and helped him clean up his room a bit.
“Stop looking so nervous, you’re gonna freak them out.”
“I am nervous.”
“No shit.”
-
Benny left Ethan’s house at around 4:15, but now it’s 5PM. Ethan smoothed out his hair, clothes, and bed, but it was all off still. It didn’t matter how much he straightened everything out, his heart was racing.
He took a deep breath. Knowing that you could be here at any second made him anxious.
Just as the thought crossed his mind, the doorbell rang. Ethan ran down the stairs, but just as he was about to get to the door, his mother opened it and greeted you, revealing an inviting smile.
Ethan’s mother, who hadn’t been informed about the study session, still invited you in with open arms. She remembered you faintly from Ethan’s thirteenth birthday party.
“What’s your name again, sweetheart?”
“Oh, Y/N, nice to see you again!”
Ethan interrupted quietly, “We’re gonna be working on a chemistry assignment.”
“Oh, okay! I saw the backpack but didn’t even think about it. Good luck, guys!”
You both thanked his mother, but when you reached the top of the stairs, she called out again.
“Ethan! Leave the door a bit open!”
Ethan shut his eyes in embarrassment but you smiled to yourself as you walked behind him.
"Sorry about the door thing."
"Don't worry about it," you replied with a gentle laugh. "It's sweet that she cares. Now, chemistry."
You entered Ethan's room behind him, and sat on the bed as soon as you saw it. His room seemed to reflect his personality almost perfectly, from the neatly arranged books on the shelves to the posters on the walls.
As you unpacked your bag on the bed and ranted about the work, Ethan couldn't help but steal glances at you. He admired how you used your hands as support to what you’re saying. He found himself becoming even more drawn to you by the second.
“Did you hear me?”
“Oh, yeah. Yes.”
“So you think we should burn all of our papers and poster boards from chemistry.”
“Oh, no. Definitely no. Sorry, I’m a little tired.”
You smiled at his gentle expression, “It’s okay. Me too.”
You both laughed, officially breaking the tension in the room.
The fatigue seemed to fade away as you dived into the chemistry assignment. The room seemed to freshen up with new ideas and a few “Google it!”s here and there.
Ethan found different ways to word things while you wrote them down, making it an effective system for the both of you.
-
Time flew by, and before you knew it, the room was soaked in the soft glow of the evening sunset. The chemistry assignment was complete, and a fresh sense of accomplishment filled the air. It was barely six thirty-ish.
As you sat side by side on his bed, a comfortable silence settled between you.
You flopped onto your back and closed your eyes, feeling his eyes on you still.
“I know you’re looking at me.”
You let out a giggle as his words quickly stumbled, keeping your eyes closed as you enjoyed the moment.
“I’m just teasing, Ethan. You can look at me however much you want to.” You opened your eyes now, looking straight into his.
Ethan's cheeks turned a dusty shade of pink, and he tried averting his gaze, but couldn’t despite feeling some embarrassment. He had always struggled with social cues and expressing his emotions well, but with you, he felt comfort that allowed him to be himself.
A shy smile played on his lips. "You’re really pretty."
“You’re prettier.”
“I didn’t mean to be so forward but... I really like spending time with you." Ethan shut his eyes, realizing he did it again.
You smiled softly, "I like spending time with you too, Ethan. You're different from anyone I've met before, in a good way."
His eyes met yours again, and you could see a hint of surprise in them. “I’m just... awkward."
"Well you are, but it's cute." you replied with a playful grin.
Ethan's cheeks flushed a deeper shade of pink, and he shyly scratched the back of his neck. "Thanks, Y/N."
Feeling a surge of courage, you sat up and scooted closer to him on the bed, your shoulders touching now. "You know, Ethan, studying doesn't have to be the only thing we do today."
Ethan’s eyes practically bulged out of his head, "What do you mean?"
You laughed at his teenage boy mind and playfully nudged his shoulder. "I mean, we've been working so hard on this assignment. How about we do something fun? Ooo... or go somewhere?”
"Like where?"
You thought for a moment before an idea popped into your head. "Well, there's a new ice cream parlor that just opened like five minutes away from here. I heard they have some weird ass flavors. Are you down?"
You already stood up and grabbed your stuff, including your keys, waiting for his answer.
"Sure!"
You and Ethan quickly made your way out of his room and down the stairs. Ethan called out a quick, “I’ll be back, mom!”
Ethan's mother glanced at the two of you, “Be back before it’s too dark!” A knowing smile played on her lips, and she waved you both off as you headed out.
The drive to the ice cream parlor was filled with lighthearted conversation and laughter. You exchanged stories about your lives outside of school and laughed with each other easily. It felt natural being with Ethan, and he seemed to relax more now.
Arriving at the ice cream parlor, you both stared at the colorful array of flavors and toppings.
After heavy consideration from the both of you, you made your choices and found a cozy corner to sit at to enjoy your ice creams. He paid for everything despite your arguments.
As you savored the ice cream, the conversation flowed effortlessly once again between you. You talked about some embarrassing moments from your pasts but they didn’t even feel embarrassing any more. With each passing minute, the connection between you deepened, and the initial nervousness and shyness melted away.
As you finished, you grabbed your keys again and looked at him. “I guess I should drive you home, huh?”
Ethan nodded, a hint of disappointment crossing his face.
“Yeah..”
He understood that it was getting late, and you both had responsibilities to tend to, but he really didn’t wanna leave.
As you walked towards the car, Ethan couldn't help but feel a sense of longing. He wanted to spend more time with you, get to know you better, and maybe even explore the possibility of something more than just a study session.
As you drove through the quiet streets, Ethan glanced at you from the corner of his eye, contemplating whether he should make some sort of move or not.
“I’m gonna crash if you keep looking at me. What’s up?”
Ethan's heart skipped a beat at your words, and he quickly turned his attention back to the road, feeling a flush of embarrassment creeping up his neck. He gathered his thoughts, realizing that he had been staring at you without realizing it.
"Sorry, I was just... thinking," he stammered, his voice having a hint of nervousness.
You chuckled softly, glancing at him with a smile. "What were you thinking about?"
Ethan took a deep breath, "Well, I was thinking about how much fun I had today, not just studying but also the ice cream. And... I was wondering if maybe we could do this again sometime?"
A smile spread across your face as you finally pulled up to his house.
"I'd love that, Ethan. I had a great time too."
You both sat in the car for a moment, the engine idling, as the weight of the unspoken tension filled the air. Ethan mustered up some courage, leaning closer to you.
"Can I ask you something?"
You nodded, your heart racing in anticipation. “Yeah.”
He hesitated for a moment, his eyes searching yours for reassurance. "Would it be okay if I kissed you?"
Your heart skipped a beat, and a surge of excitement rushed through your veins. The anticipation hung in the air as you met Ethan's gaze, your eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and desire. The moment felt surreal, and you could feel the tension building between you.
“Y-”
Before you could respond, the sound of a guy yelling disrupted the intimate atmosphere. You both turned your heads towards the noise only to see Benny standing outside of your car, waving his arms frantically.
You hesitantly rolled the passengers side window down.
"Hey, lovebirds! Don't forget about me!" Benny shouted with a shit-eating grin on his face.
Ethan groaned in exasperation, slumping back in his seat. "Benny, seriously? Can't you give us a moment?"
Benny shrugged, still grinning ear to ear. "Sorry, but I couldn't resist. You two were about to have your magical movie moment, weren’t you?”
You couldn't help but laugh at the unexpected interruption. "Well, Benny, you certainly know how to kill the mood."
Benny feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart. "Hey, I'm just here to provide some comic relief. Besides, I thought you two might appreciate an audience for your grand romantic gesture."
Ethan shook his head, trying to hide his amusement. "There was no grand romantic gesture, Benny. We were just having a conversation." You nodded in agreement.
Benny raised an eyebrow suggestively. "Oh, really? Just a conversation, huh? Well, I guess I'll leave you guys to continue your 'conversation' then." Benny began making his way to Ethan’s house, but not without making kissy faces at you two first.
“I’ma be in your room, Ethan.”
“I don’t care!”
“Love you too!” With a final wink, Benny walked away, leaving you and Ethan alone in the car again.
You couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation. "Well, that was unexpected."
Ethan chuckled, his cheeks still tinged with a hint of pink. "Yeah, Benny has a knack for timing, doesn't he?"
You leaned closer to Ethan, a playful glint in your eyes. "So, my place or yours?"
Ethan blinked, momentarily thrown off by the sudden question. "What?"
You smiled softly at his confusion. "I'm just teasing. How about we save that kiss for another time?"
Ethan let out a relieved breath, a smile forming on his lips. "Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. Let’s hang out again soon?”
You nodded in agreement, "I'd like that."
Ethan looked at you one more time, “I guess I’ve gotta go.”
“I guess you do.”
“Goodnight, see you at school.”
“Goodnight!”
As Ethan got out of the car, you watched him walk towards his house, feeling a sense of contentment.
You drove off to your house, while Ethan was being interrogated by a smirking Benny.
"So, how did it go? Did you make your move?"
Ethan shook his head, trying to hide his disappointment. "No, Benny. We were interrupted by you, remember?"
"My bad. But on the first not even date?"
"More than you’ve ever done. But it's fine, we're hanging out again soon."
Benny's eyes lit up with excitement as he ignored the first statement, "That's great news! See, I didn’t ruin everything this time!”
“Now, tell me. What’d it feel like when you almost kissed them?”

Pancakes After a Long Slumber
me writing something who knew that was possible!!! this was for someone on twitter but I thought I'd but it here . ending is kinda rushed don't yell at me alright.
Pairing: Aurora x Mountain
CW: Nothing really, mention of Mountain biting Sunshine, kisses while sleeping, idk what else.
Word Count: 2k
Summary: Mountain has been hibernating for months and now is finally the time for him to wake up. This year is Aurora's turn to wake the sleeping beast from his slumber
Stray rays of morning sun shone through Aurora’s window casting onto her shut eye lids, stirring her awake. She so desperately wanted to go back to bed but knew she couldn’t, as she had a very important duty to-do this morning. She rolled over in her bed towards her nightstand and picked up her phone that was resting on the charger. 8:26, the clock on her phone read and she groaned at the thought of getting up so early. But she happily agreed to this mooring’s task, so she really has no right in complaining.
She rolled out from underneath the plethora of fluffy winter blankets on her bed; blanket she will need to change out soon. A shive ran through her body when her pawed feet hit the cold floor. Aurora opened the door of her room and the smell of pancakes and coffee wafted into her room all the way from the kitchen. When she reached the kitchen, she saw her whole pack sitting around waiting for breakfast to bed ready. Well almost everyone. There was one big earth ghoul missing and who had been missing for months.
At the beginning of October, Mountain had gone into hibernation, and he was determined to hibernate all through hibernation season this year. Past years he had to be woken up early due to tour and other projects around the Abbey, but this year he was finally able to hibernate fully. Every year a different ghoul was chosen to go and wake Mountain up from his slumber and fortunately for Aurora this year was her year.
“Hey Rory, Mount’s pancakes will be done in second.” Swiss said as he flipped over a few pancakes on the oven.
“Thanks, Swissy!” Aurora replied, taking a seat at the table with her fellow ghoulettes.
“Oh, I can’t wait to have Mountain back!” Cumulus exclaimed, holding onto Cirrus’ arm with excitement.
“I know you’re excited Lus, but I’m trying to eat here.” Cirrus pried Cumulus’ claws out of her skin and off her arm.
“I’m sorry, I’m just so excited to see him again.” Cumulus was all but bursting with joy. “You’re so lucky you know Aurora? You get to wake him up and see how cute he looks with his hair all a mess and his sleepy little face.”
“I think she gets it honey,” Cirrus says while petting the back of Cumulus’ hair. “Now remember Aurora, you can’t go in there and just shake him awake and be done with it. We learned that the hard way. Ever wonder why we don’t let Dew wake him up anymore?”
The three ghoulettes turn to see Dew sitting at the kitchen island nursing his cup of black coffee. He feels their eyes on him and turns to hiss at them. Cirrus waves him off and turns to look back at Aurora.
“You need to be gentle with him. It bad to wake him up quickly so just go slow and don’t make and don’t make any quick movements, ok?” Cirrus continues and Aurora nods her head in return.
“You guys make it seem like if I’m not slow, I’ll be attacked.” Aurora chuckles but the immediately stops when she sees the two ghoulettes in front of her exchanging looks. “Will he actually attack me?”
“Most likely not, he doesn’t seem to want to harm any of the ghoulettes.” Cumulus reassured the growing anxiety filling Aurora’s body. “But he will 100% hurt any of the guys.”
“That’s a big fat lie.” Sunshine said while taking her seat next to Aurora with her plate of food. “He bit me last time I did it.”
“That’s because you threw a pillow at him Sunny!” Cumulus scolded.
“I did no such thing! I was wake him up like I always wake him up.” Sunshine said trying to defend herself.
“By throwing a pillow at him?” Cirrus asked
Aurora chuckles watching the madness unfold in front of her until a voice call her name.
“Rora,” Swiss calls, “It’s all ready for you and the big guy.”
She jumps up from her seat and practically runs over to the oven to take the large pile of pancakes. The pile of pancakes was sitting on the countertop right next to the over. Aurora wasn’t sure how many pancakes were on the plate but there had to have been at least 15 possible more. Strawberries, blueberries, and orange slices, drizzled with a bit of honey and topped with a small bit of whipped cream. There was another plate next to it and Aurora assumed it was hers. There were only about 3 pancakes and had strawberries, whipped cream and maple syrup on it. Swiss knew how much she liked strawberries and had a distaste for any other fruit.
“Thanks again Swiss.” Aurora said picking up the two plates of food.
“No problem hon, make sure to give the big guy a hug for us, ok?” Swiss asks while return to his work at the oven. Aurora nods her head and heads out the kitchen straight to Mountain’s room.
After a few paces, Aurora was face to face with the big wooden door that was Mountain’s. There we intricate wood carving, carved in the door much like the rest of the ghoul’s doors. But his door showed images of past earth ghouls and ghoulettes before him all dancing around trees and sitting in flower beds. With her hands being full, Aurora had to use her elbow to open the heavy door. A cold breeze flew out of the room and sent a painful shiver down her spin. When she stepped into the room it was completely covered in darkness, with only faint light shining in from the curtains. Aurora saw the remanence of the long burnt-out fire sitting in the fireplace. She placed the food down on an empty table and walked over to the fire, hoping to bring it back to life. With a little bit of poking, Aurora was able to relight the fire and the temperature in the room immediately went up.
With the fire restored, light filled the room illuminating every surface. Aurora noticed the slightly wilted plants sitting on various tables and shelves. She noticed the dusty, half ridden books in the bookshelf. And finally, she noticed the long tail hanging off the edge of the bed that seemed to grow out from under the pile of blankets on the bed.
Aurora smiled to herself quietly as she walked towards the bed and shucked off slippers. The noises coming from the creature on the bed were low and matched with the breathing rhythm of the blankets. Aurora could hear Mountain’s soft mumbles and groans as he slept. She smiled to herself once again as she slowly climbed into the bed, making sure not to move too quickly. Once she presumed, she was in front of Mountain, Aurora slowly lifted the blankets up revealing the slumbering earth ghoul under them. His dark brown curls lose and draped just above his eyes. His body curled in on itself as he slept. His face was soft and peaceful as pleasant dreams filled his uncurious mind. A shiver ran through Aurora’s body yet again as she started at the earth ghoul in front of her. Even though the fire burned, the room was still freezing cold.
He wouldn’t be mad if I crawled in there with him, right? Aurora thought as her muscles tensed in the frozen air.
But Sunshine said that he bit her once and I don’t want to get bitten.
But it is so cold out here, he’s asleep he wouldn’t notice if you just crawl in there.
Aurora’s thoughts battled between what she should do and in the end warmth won. She slowly but surely crawled in the blanket pile and tucker herself into Mountain’s side. Warmth immediately filled her body again as she let out a pleasant sigh. Aurora laid like that for a few minutes before she started to feel herself falling asleep. But she couldn’t fall asleep, not yet anyways, she had to wake Mountain up it was her job. Part of her felt bad for waking him up but she knows he would probably sleep forever if she didn’t. Aurora looked up at the slumbering ghoul and her heart swelled with joy. She never looks at his face in full. They’re always passing each other in the hallways, staying in the own little corners on stage and occasionally catches glimpse of each other’s faces in Mountain’s candle lit room on lonely nights. But she’s never really saw his beautiful face before. She never saw the freckles that adore his face. She never saw how perfect his hooked nose was. She never saw how angular his jawline was. And she never saw how perfectly thin his cupid’s bow was.
Aurora lifted her hands and started tracing Mountain’s lips with her thump. She leaned forwards and pressed a light kiss to his lips. Even thought Mountain had been asleep for months, he still tasted of honey and fresh river water, Aurora had to get another taste of him. She leaned forwards and pressed her lip to his again, instead of pulling back she moved to press her lips to the inner corner of his mouth. She trailed kisses along his jawline and up to his cheek, then along the bridge of his nose, across his forehead and finally on both of his eyes. Right as Aurora was about to kiss the tip of Mountain’s nose, she felt stirring under her hands and saw his face shifting. It wasn’t long until big dark brown eyes were sleepily staring into her ocean blue ones.
“Well, I’ve certainly never been woken up like this before…” Mountain hummed as he pressed a kiss to the palm Aurora’s hand.
“Did you sleep well, Mounty?” Aurora’s free hand brushed through the messy, tangled brown curls of his head.
“I did, but I missed your beautiful face. Glad it’s here now.” Mountain nuzzled his nose into Aurora’s neck, pulling her close in the process.
“I brought breakfast.” Aurora said, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. “Swiss made pancakes and yours has strawberries and blueberries and orange slices. As well as honey and whipped cream.”
All Mountain could do is hum. Breakfast did sound nice, but he couldn’t care less about it right now. All he cared about was the tiny ghoulette in his arms. Oh, how he had missed Aurora with her strawberry and pine tree scent. He missed catching glimpse of her perfectly round face. He missed sneaking her into his room late at night while everyone is asleep.
“Mountain?” Aurora called bringing Mountain out of whatever daze he was in. “Did you hear me?”
“What did you say?” Mountain lifted his head up just enough to look into her eyes.
“About breakfast, I’m sure it’s getting cold.” Aurora repeated herself.
“Breakfast can wait.” Mountain buried his face back into the crook of her neck. Aurora stared at him dumbfounded at his words. He hadn’t eaten in months, isn’t he starving?
“Aren’t you hungry though, Mountain?” Aurora asked. “You’ve been in this bed for so long, don’t you want to move around?”
“What’s a few more minutes going to do?” Aurora giggled as he spoke into her neck. “Besides why would I want to go anywhere while you’re in my bed?”
Aurora’s face flushed at his words.
“Well alright but only 5 more minutes. You need to eat and I’m hungry.” Aurora said, hands returning to his hair.
“Whatever you say, my princess.” Mountain gripped her tighter, making it so she can leave his warm embrace. The two ghouls stay like that for hours, falling asleep in each other’s warm embrace. It isn’t until later, when Cumulus comes in, is when they wake up and actually eat breakfast. Breakfast that has long gone cold, but they still eat it like its fresh out the oven. They sit in silence as they eat, tucked into each other’s side and tail wrapped around each other. They wouldn’t have it any other way.

super popular gilmore girls takes i disagree with:
”younger jess didn’t deserve younger rory, older rory didn’t deserve older jess”
they both went through rough patches that caused them to hurt people and not be the best versions of themselves but they still were the same people all their lives, there’s no ”chilton rory” and ”yale rory” here. and THE WHOLE APPEAL of rory and jess is that they don’t judge eachother and don’t see eachother the way the rest of the world does. now speaking off…
”chilton rory>yale rory”
rory gets too much shit. can we stop idealizing her child self and start realizing that being a young adult is hard. also words like ungrateful, spoiled and priviliged are thrown around and eh… rory actually seems appreciative of her very humble past and has many lovely qualities like not caring about other people’s opinions and making her own judgement. and you do know that ”she threw away everything her mom gave her” is the argument emily apologists use right? rory remains who she is even after she is thrown into a world of privilige overnight, which is admirable. ofc she has her moments but in general.
”lorelai hated jess because she saw herself in him”
my girl lorelai isn’t self relective enough for this, she hates jess bc he’s a threat to the perfect life she wants for her perfect daughter (a life she didn’t get). she thinks rory is just like her and will go wild if she doesn’t shield her from it. she doesn’t get that rory will have her own experiences that she’s not familiar with and won’t understand. but she will. not everything in rory’s life will have something to do with lorelai’s. which leads me to…
”rory’s love interest xyz represents lorelai’s love interest xyz”
rory and lorelai’s love lives don’t mirror eachother, asp, because they are very different people who want very different things in partners and in life. someone being the best guy for lorelai doesn’t equal a younger version of that guy would be the perfect guy for rory. forced parallels are forced. because of her cold and wealthy childhood, lorelai wants a simple, humble life with a stable and loving guy. rory is drawn to intellectualism and travel, the unknown. different to what both lorelai wants and what the grandparents want (marriage between two freshly ivy league graduated people). i think you know what i’m sayinggg
”rory should have said yes to logan, she loved him”
if logan didn’t understand that this wasn’t something rory wanted, they didn’t have a stable enough foundation to build a life on anyways. yes, she loved him but she didn’t want to get married at 22. i don’t know why people wanted this for rory when it’s just as bad of an idea as dean or lane getting married young.
”jess was disrespectful to lorelai so she had the right to hate him”
ok he was but lorelai feeling entitled to talk to jess about how lucky he was to have been dumped with his uncle a couple of hours ago was just bad. that was not her place, and she shouldn’t have been surprised that he didn’t respond well. and it’s the way she goes about her disliking of him. i just can’t understand people who think an adult yelling at and openly snarking at a teen is anything but immature. i just watched the episode with dean’s ugly bracelet and her calling jess a ”little jerk” to his face is just crazy
”team lorelai/team rory”
i feel like people think that i don’t like lorelai because i’m on jess’ side when they fight but he’s just the exception. i think lorelai can be emotionally intelligent and i’m on her side with her parents, luke, her other bfs, sookie & michel etc. generally i enjoy her more than rory. but unlike a lot of the people who like lorelai, i don’t think she’s always right when she’s fighting with rory. it’s pretty 50/50. i don’t really have an opinion there. i don’t see them as being against each other. and during The Big Fight, i think everyone involved acted horribly. except for jess❤️ ok that’s it.

Hii, not sure if you’re taking requests at the moment, but in case you do, could you please write a headcanon on what it would be like to date Rory keaner? (There is barely any work about him😭😭😭) thank u in advance :D
A/N yess love this and there literally isn’t anything about him and I’ve only found like 3 actually good ones so yeah anyway I’ll get on with it.
What it’s like dating Rory keaner
———————————————————————
He’s obviously a charmer so lots of stupid jokes that you can’t help but laugh at.
He’s always asking you if u need anything. Even if u just told him ur fine he’ll ask again. He just wants you to be comfortable with him.
At first he thought u would be scared of him since he’s a vampire, but when he got enough courage to tell u he was super relieved when u said u didn’t care and that it wasn’t a problem.
(For if u r a vampire) he thought u would be scared of him since he’s a vampire, but when he got enough courage to tell you he was super surprised when u told him u were a vampire to and was scared to tell him.
He will stop doing anything just to be with u. For instance if u call him in the middle of them fighting something he’ll half ass it and sneak off when no one is looking.
Even though the rest of the gang ignores him you’ve always been there. He’ll always thank you for loving him but u always say he doesn’t have to thank u bc ur his gf and best friend and that it’s a given that you’ll love him and stick with him for forever.
He always flaunts u off to others even if you may be insecure/not the beauty standards he tells u that u deserve to be shown off bc ur stunning and who cares what they think bc you bagged the hottest guy at school.
He’s always taking you on dates and buying (he actually just steals everything but u don’t know) you gifts he’ll go out of his way to learn all ur favorite fabrics and other stuff like that just to get u the best clothes
He always makes you feel like the luckiest girl ever he’ll hold your hand and tel u ur beautiful and that he’s so lucky to be with u.
He’s always there to protect u. When a guy is bothering u he’ll swoop in and run the guy off by stupid corny threats.
———————————————————————
Hey sorry this took so long to come out. If u look at my recent post you will know why hope this is ok and what u asked for.
