mdceleste: September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and it's an important reminder that cancer does not discriminate and is on the rise. While brilliant minds are working hard to unearth a cure, Ronald McDonald House New York provides around-the-clock care and support for kids and families who travel to NYC for treatment. It's a privilege to work with them to create some happy moments and special memories while they're far from home and battling unimaginable hardship. I want to thank Sebastian for always thinking of the kids and asking how he can help. Don has also gone above & beyond to help raise money and awareness for RMH-NY and last week they came out to spend a fun-filled day with the families. These are some of my favorite behind-the-scenes moments from our summer sundae event. The afternoon was filled with so much laughter and I can't thank them enough for their love, patience, time, and kindness. Normally, I stay positive on social media, but this makes me mad. #McDonalds will donate ONE PENNY from every Happy Meal sold to The Ronald McDonald House. ONE WHOLE CENT from something they charge $4.69-$5.99 for. So, SO generous... they might contribute several DIMES every day!

I don't know how many New Zealanders are on here and I know a lot of regular people are struggling to make ends meet but I wanted to put this out there

This is the Ronald McDonald house

In the last year my own child has been in and out of Hospital a couple of times for very devastating reasons

When I was staying there I met all sorts of different kinds of Parents with Children in many different health situations, some having stayed there for many months at a time....it was incredibly beneficial to have the company of others who understood the stress involved as a parent in similar circumstances

I was fortunate enough to have this as a place to go when I needed to be nearby to Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand

Without it I would not have been able to be there for 80% of what I needed to be when my child was going through a health crisis

Currently due to the cost of living and the lack of donations they are struggling intensely to keep up with demand and are operating almost at capacity

So if you were looking for a place to donate to I would like to put this forward as an option for your consideration

I can personally attest to the necessity for places like these for parents to have easier access to being nearby to support their children while receiving treatment

Any support you may be willing to offer is appreciated

@rmhnewyork: Last week our families enjoyed a special surprise when actor @imsebastianstan and celebrity trainer @donsaladino joined us for a fun-filled afternoon on our terrace. Adding our own healthy twist on an ice cream sundae party, the kids made frozen acai bowls and Don and Sebastian happily jumped in to help serve all the delicious toppings!
