FLORIDA HRT CRISIS: SB 254, effective May 17 2023, banned nearly all new HRT prescriptions and refills of existing prescriptions for trans adults, for up to 6 more weeks or until “emergency” state-mandated consent forms are published by the Boards of Medicine.
Trans care bans were never about “protecting children” — they were about making all trans existence completely impossible. See for yourself.

Say it with me now.
Enslaved 👏🏼 people 👏🏼 did👏🏼 not👏🏼 benefit 👏🏼from👏🏼 slavery!
The "skills they acquired" were things they already fucking knew.
Those skills were being taught, handed down and being used for centuries all across Africa.
To demonish centuries worth of their history to when they were enslaved is disgusting.
White people didn't teach em shit.
They wouldn't have been exploited and trafficked round the world if they didn't have no skills.
How dare you, how dare you try to brush aside 12+ generations of enslavement and brand it as "education."
Oh their were people who benefitted from slavery alright but it weren't the enslaved.

So. That Florida Bathroom Bill, huh?
TW: bathroom bills, transphobia, internalized transphobia.
I ain’t beating around the bush. I will be using strong language here. If that ain’t your cup of tea or if you’re just here for my usual brand of gay fanart and fic, it’s okay to scroll past this post. Really. I won’t judge. This is one doozy of a vent.
For the people in my DMs asking me if I’m okay (as a trans person in Florida considering recent bathroom bill bullshit) I’m just… sitting here with an exasperated sigh.
It’s funny that the first time I hear of this is from a DM from someone on the other side of the world. I’ve been deliberately avoiding lgbt Florida news for some time because the more I think about it, the harder it is to be civil in transphobic conversations.
Last night I was deadnamed in front of a few people, and today at my graduation I’ll likely be deadnamed in front of a whole convention center. That’s what I get for not changing my name legally, huh. Oh well. Didn’t wanna go through all the paperwork just yet (in case I go for a different name) so I’m stuck with the one I’m sure I don’t want.
So again, I try not to think about it.
But yeah. It sucks.
Honestly? The bathroom bill doesn’t change much for me. It’s still the same shit as always.
The one time I went into the men’s restroom, I freaked out a cis guy so badly (poor dude was genuinely scared of ME accusing HIM of something bad) that I never did that again.
As for women’s restrooms (the one I most frequently use) that’s a whole other deal. Most days, I don’t pass. I’ll just go out and say that. I have a high voice, boobs, and a bit of hips. Some days I dress really feminine too, so it only makes sense. No one here is going to buy “see I LOOK like a woman but no see I’m secretly a ‘man but not quite’ inside but I wear makeup as a kind of exaggerated cosplay of a gender I am NOT, y’see?”
I don’t want to have a nuanced discussion of gender in the bathroom. Most people 30+ in age don’t even know what non-binary is and barely get the concept of trans. As much as I love being and educator and advocate, after a long road trip I want to piss and get on with my life. Also cis men have told me the horror stories of male bathrooms (how do you get shit ON the ceiling????) and then I’m thankful to have been “born a woman” or whatever.
Most days I don’t think about it too hard. But on my more dysphoric days or when on the blessed days I do genuinely pass more masc - when I go into the bathroom looking like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I genuinely don’t know which bathroom to use.
It’s embarrassing. Especially when there’s no family restroom available. And when I go to the women’s restroom, I sometimes get these looks. Brief, surreptitious glances they think I don’t notice. To ease tensions, I lift my pitch and give a compliment. I even puff out my (binded) breasts slightly as if to say, “Yes, I have tits and a pussy, does that soothe your cisnormative and petty fears that I would assault you?”
Jesus, some days I wish I could say that quote outright. But I can’t, and I know it’s not fair to them. They’re scared, I get it. I remind them of a traumatic experience. Sometimes, certain people who have nothing to do a trauma invoke fears of it unintentionally by raising their voices or saying something off or even existing. But that’s MY responsibility to fucking deal with that. Other people can’t help existing.
By and large, people with transphobic tendencies here are usually nice. Beyond, nice even. They’ll help you host a spontaneous ice cream party. They’ll buy you allergy meds when you’re choking. They’ll take you in after your mother kicked you out. Like I said, genuinely sweet and kind people.
Which makes it harder when they accuse trans people of transitioning to skirt military drafts, to cheat at sports, to deal with mommy issues. When they equate gays to sex crimes (yes, the ones you’re thinking of). When they refuse to call you your full name. When they call you a baby who refuses to clean her pooped diapers.
I try to be nice. But by god, is my patience waning…
By. Fucking. god.
I’m tired of the way it’s affected me. Making me feel worth less than cis folks, like my feelings matter less. Even worse, I hate how it makes me jealous and spiteful towards younger trans folks in better situations. Younger trans folk I don’t understand. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not an excuse to mistreat them the way I was mistreated. And I’m genuinely glad that they’re living a better life. I have to work on these thoughts, it’s my responsibility. It would be nice, though, to live in a world where I could devote more energy to celebrating our collective existence instead of surviving it.
That being said, I’m grateful for the people here and in person who have stuck by my guns. The people who check in on my when shit gets worse in terms of politics.
What helps most?
What really helps is when people get mad WITH me. For so long I was told my anger was something to be stowed away, to be quietly extinguished with calm words or relieved by some masturbatory exercise of civil discourse. You know. Where you get off to talking civilly but don’t actually get anywhere and you still have to live in a world that was just as transphobic as before. I just want people to be pissed WITH me. To share in my anger and frustration. To join me as I slam the desk, flip the table, and cry to the heavens,
This fucking sucks
Right now this matters to me even more than action. These check ins, sharing in my anger - it helps, it really does. Makes me feel less alone in the world.

the links in this text all lead to german websites
so yeah, there is this "march for life" by some idiot pro-lifers in Cologne this saturday. Not a new group, they are also in my city a well-known fundamentalist group. bad. very bad, even. also (but not only) because there are many far-right idiots in these groups
but the worst part, the german conservative party CDU calls for taking part in the march
wtf guys, what the hell is wrong with you. where is the self-proclaimed "brandmauer" against the right-wing? burnt down? apparently.
stop cooperating with right-wingers, meeting republicans such as ron desantis and the afd. in communal politics and in states' and federal politics. we know about the vote with fdp and afd for less taxes in thuringia. and we know about ur meeting called the "full meeting of the true hive mind"
u are killing people. women, lgbtqia+ people, ethnic minorities, disabled people, children, etc
and we will not forgive you for allowing the right-wing to take back power

People really need to talk about how Desantis tortured people at Guantanamo more....
TLDW:  Desantis oversaw torture at Guantanamo.  He would gain the trust of prisoners over time and then ask them about their biggest fears.  He would then report back and the torturers would use the information of the prisoners fears to personalize their torture.  Desantis would watch and laugh while this happened.

These "expert" pediatricians were paid by a far-right legal group to come up with evidence to attack the WPATH transgender standards of care
What this is: Leaked documents show the anti-LGBT legal group Alliance Defending Freedom paying manufactured experts to attack WPATH’s transgender standards of care, asking them to find evidence for harmful anti-trans myths that they knew were baseless and unsubstantiated. This is an original finding and report by Zinnia Jones (she/her), a transgender Florida resident of 11 years whose access to HRT is now jeopardized by the enactment of state law and policy based on work from these same experts.
Detailed summary: From 2019 onward, states across the US have been faced with an intensely active wave of reused anti-trans experts, recurring characters who keep repeating the same spurious arguments against gender-affirming care in court cases, legislatures, and other policy bodies. Where did they come from, and why did this start happening?
Due to the Florida-based anti-LGBT hate group American College of Pediatricians choosing to set one of their Google Drive folders to be publicly viewable by anyone, files were released this month showing the contents of their staff’s communications and other working notes over several years.
These documents included records of the Alliance Defending Freedom - another hate group who are also responsible for bringing the mifepristone case with ACP as a plaintiff - approaching ACP's leaders in 2018 and 2019 to offer them a grant of $10,000 or more. The ADF wanted the pediatricians “to draft a white paper that refutes the WPATH Standards of Care”, “for use in litigation and should also benefit many other allies at State and Federal Level”.
ACP’s president Quentin Van Meter and executive director Michelle Cretella promptly got to work on this “Special Project”, and the ADF hosted expert witness workshops at ACP's conferences. ACP members including Van Meter went on to present anti-trans testimony in several ADF-litigated cases and ADF-involved trans youth care bans.
In May 2022, Van Meter authored a sham report for Florida Medicaid to justify their trans coverage exclusion, mostly drawing from previous ACP position statements; court filings later revealed Michelle Cretella was recommended by the Florida governor’s office, and she pointed the way to all the other anti-trans experts hired by Florida in 2022 to support the Medicaid exclusion of transition care.
One notable document found in the ACP’s drive contains “Transgender Research Requests”, with the ADF asking Cretella and other ACP leaders to “substantiate” now-commonplace anti-trans talking points. These included bizarre claims by the ADF such as “it is normal during adolescence for children to go through a phase when they identify (to some degree) with the opposite sex”, and “For those who have undergone hormone therapy and genital change surgery, a paper that says they are no happier (and perhaps worse off if the research supports it)”.
The ADF was asking this anti-trans group to come up with anything that could support the arguments they were already planning to make.
This appears to be one of the very sites where those baseless myths about suicide, social contagion and other supposed harms, now regularly repeated in court cases and testimony and uncritically accepted by the mainstream right wing, were conceived and gestated.
These same experts then substantially reused these work products in their reports for Florida Medicaid, a public health agency whose accepted standards determination process is supposed to be a transparent and open-ended evaluation of peer-reviewed medical evidence.
Altogether, these documents appear to demonstrate a paid smear by a hate group and right-wing law firm against a leading professional transgender healthcare organization following the best available evidence and medical practices, as well as misconduct on the part of ACP experts who reused this work in their reports for a Florida public health agency.

First of all I'm so sorry you're going through such gender anxiety and stress, only to be triggered by the research you're trying to do to protect yourself. But secondly, now you have *me* stressed. I'm in a fairly liberal state so I have to admit I might not know what's going on in other states right, but are trans rights actually under attack right now?? My Testosterone has been harder to acquire the last few months, but I was told it was a shortage issue. Now I have my doubts ...
( Tumbler forced a read more so TDLR: medical transitioning is now BANNED in Florida under medicaid )
Ok so you should be fine for now. I, however, am in Florida. And unfortunately a lot of people are vastly uneducated about how Gov Ron Desantis who wants to run for president has officially convinced the board of state healthcare that ALL medical transition for children AND ADULTS should be BANNED UNDER MEDICADE IN FLORIDA. AND SUCCEEDED IN ENFORCING THE BILL BACK IN JANUARY THIS YEAR.
The fact that Tumblr didn't even show up for this when we lost the battle back in January is absolutely fucking appalling. I'm actually shocked no one seems to care at all. Probably because it only effects the disabled and poor trans folk.
There were many articles written when it happened. But this is the only one I can find right now since Google is trying to shift the focus off the fact this happened and is trying to cover it up with articles about recent bans on trans youth transitioning ( pushing the ' they're after your kids ' narrative to invalidate us yet again ) EVEN THIS ARTICLE TRIES TO WORD IT LIKE ITS ONLY FOR TRANS YOUTH BUT IT EFFECTS ADULTS AS WELL. It's not until half way through the article that they admit the truth which I will place here ABOVE the link
Tumblr media
Genuinely guys I know it's hard to keep up with politics but please help us
