Hi there! I’ve been searching for days and have yet to find what I’m looking for, so I wanted to try sending some details here. I’m looking for a fic where Tony is married off to Steve and sent away to live in Steve’s land, and it’s an AU set in what I could only assume is some fictionalized pre-Europe European setting (think pre-Arthurian time period). I don’t remember many specifics from the fic (which is why it’s been so hard to find), but I do remember that Tony ended up basically inventing a water heater (using fire that boiled the water maybe? But not like manually? It might have been magic) that Steve had him incorporate all over the kingdom or colony or what have you. I remember tony was really excited about being able to build because his father wouldn’t let him actually incorporate any of his engineering into life in his home kingdom. I think Tony may have also been making other new and improved tools/weapons (?) for Steve’s land. I can’t recall if it was an ABO fic or something similar, but I think it’s fairly likely that it was given the context i remember. I’m sorry I don’t have more to go on. Thank you regardless of if it’s found or not, I really truly appreciate any effort!

In regards to you receiving comments about supposed mistakes in your stories...Delete them. If something someone says takes the joy out of your writing, get rid of it. Who cares if they thought they were helping? The fact of the matter is, criticism, constructive or otherwise, is never actually constructive if it's not asked for.

I know it can be hard to put those comments aside, and for some reason all the kind comments I receive can be easily overwhelmed by one bad one, but I try to remember: Don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice.

Your stories are your own first, and a gift to share with others second. Only a very rude person would point out flaws in a gift, well meaning or no.

That's exactly what I do! Delete them, I mean, even if they've also put in positive commentary along with criticism.

It just got to me because this person in particular said that since I hadn't explicitly stated that I didn't want that kind of criticism, they assumed I was okay with it. And it just got to me like, since when did the default switch from "only give criticism when it's asked for" to "you didn't say you didn't want it so I'm going to assume you do". It's a really weird tonal shift in fandom that bothers me, and I think I might start explicitly saying I DON'T want criticism when I post stuff since apparently that's a thing we have to do now.

The tussock caterpillar pic reminded me of when I was in the woods in my teens and I thought I had been stung by a hornet or something, only the pain didn't abate at all and actually incresed. After searching, I found a very fuzzy, light brown catterpillar on my pants. When I say I have never known agony like whatever that thing left on my hand, I am not exaggerating. It was horrendous. The little guy sure was cute 10/10, but still... -100/10 on the hug rating. I would not recommend touching...

It maybe was a puss caterpillar? Which is a southern flannel moth. They look like this:

Hickory tussocks, on the other hand, are generally white or beige with black tufts and usually only cause a mild rash in some people. They look like this:

But I tell people to be cautious when touching all fuzzy caterpillars if you aren’t 100% sure on the identification just to be safe.

I saw your post about watching different versions of A Christmas Carol and wondered, have you ever watched Scrooge? The one with Albert Finney from 1970 I think? If you haven't, you definitely should! It's a musical and it is amazing!

I’ve got that one on my DVR because my parents refused to watch a second Christmas Carol in the same day, but I have seen it before.

So Tony and Rhodey's first date is a trip to a planetarium. They both love the stars and space, but Rhodey realises Tony has never been to one because his parents never bothered to take him.

When Tony agrees to a date, Rhodey keeps the destination a surprise, though secretly he is a little worried Tony will think it's lame.

He doesn't.

Instead, he grins at Rhodey and shyly takes his hand in the dark, staring up at the planets and stars gliding across the domed ceiling.

Years later, whenever people ask what they did for their first date, Tony will only smile and answer, "Rhodey gave me the stars."

“It’s not mean,” Tony said, looking at her with wide, wounded eyes. “The little old ladies are having tons of fun.”

“But Steve isn’t,” Sharon said. Tony followed her gaze to where a miserable-looking Steve was dancing his twenty-ninth dance of the night. His current companion was an eighty-seven year old woman who took every chance she could to pinch Steve’s butt. Tony had counted nine pinches so far.

“Steve’s the one who insisted we come,” Bucky said, tossing back a glass of champagne. “He deserves what he gets.”

“It’s good P.R.,” Tony added. “Celebrate the new year by having a dance with Captain America? The papers will be eating it up.”

Sharon frowned at him. “Tony.”

Tony sighed. “Fine. Be that way. Alright, Snowflake. Are we going with rude billionaire wants arm candy back, or wounded veteran needs support of both boyfriends to ride out the night?”

Bucky considered this for a moment. “Rude billionaire,” he said after a moment. “Last time I pulled the wounded veteran shtick, some lady tried to take me back to her bedroom to make me feel like a ‘real man’.”

Sharon smirked into her glass. “Is my cousin not enough for you, Bucky?”

“Okay you two,” Tony said. He leaned in towards Bucky, pulling him into a slow, lingering kiss that would turn a few heads. If he was being the rude billionaire, he was gonna do it in style.

Then he handed his glass to Sharon and cut through the crowd, heading for Steve. Just as the dance ended and Steve was politely bowing to his partner (eleven pinches total), Tony rudely cut in on the next woman.

“Sorry, this one is mine,” Tony said loudly, plastering himself to Steve’s front. He dragged Steve into a filthy hot kiss that left Steve looking a little dazed, before towing his other boyfriend back to the relative safety of Sharon and Bucky.

Summary: In 1867, Tony Stark flees New York after refusing to marry the alpha his parents chose for him. His money runs out in the small kingdom of Dacia, ruled over by King Steven of the Rogers line. Somehow, and he’s not entirely sure how, he ends up accepting the position of nanny to the king’s four children: Harley, Peter, Sarah, and Morgan.

Tony bonds with the children easily but their father is harder to get to know. Steve is still grieving his wife’s death four years earlier. His continued mourning has turned the once bright halls into dark and somber shadows of their former glory. Tony isn’t entirely certain what he can do but he knows that he has to do something or else the whole country, so attuned to their leader, will sink into despair.
