It happened all in a blink, one minute at the hangar the next they're rapidly approaching the drop zone. Already lost on the immaculate space inside the plane. 'Makarov' clearly took care of his posessions. It was quiet with the not so quiet bantering in Russian in the cockpit. Clearly the black haired Russian was still annoyed about the shift in schedule. It wasn't really their fault they were late, Soap had just eaten a bad burrito and was paying for it. Even with Kate almost begging them to not be late. Small wonder after meeting the testy pilot.

"Comrades, drop in five. Get ready." Andre would hum over the headsets. Hardly needed with how quiet the interior was.

"Back on schedule..." Makarov would mumble, his accent prickling at the Captains neck. It was almost like a low rumble or... A purr.

It took a moment for the Captain to shake himself of that sensation, pushing himself up. "Roger. Preparing to drop. Gaz, Soap, Ghost. Remember the plan. In and out, we got fifteen minutes. And I'm sure, Mister Makarov will not be happy if we're a moment late."

The low affirmitory rumble would vibrate through the headset, seems he was on the right fo-

"We will be leaving at twenty three hundred hours. No later. You're late. You're left behind." Makarov would growl out, as if already expecting it.

"Two minutes comrades!" Andre would push himself up, moving to the back of the plane. Slamming his fist into the hatch button, immediately receiving a shout from up front. Right in everyone's ears through the comms.

"Andre!" Makarov hissed, hearing the loud bang.

"Come now Vlad, you know soldiers like a flare for the dramatic." Andre would laugh out, moving to begin adjusting everyone's chutes without prompting. Or permission. Russians truly were an entirely different breed.

"За моими вещами не так уж и плохо ухаживают, их нужно «ударить»…" Makarov would grumble under his breath. "Drop in twenty." (My things are not so poorly taken care of you need to 'hit' them...)

"Be safe comrades!" Andre would laugh out, holding his hand in gesture of the lowered ramp. "Say goodbye Vlad."

"Постарайтесь не сломать ногу." Makarov woud huff, rolling his eyes as he began hitting his switches and flips. (Try not to break your leg.)

"Twenty three hundred. Got it. We won't be late." The Captain said with a nod before nodding to his men, all three bolting off the carrier a long with the Captain.

Dick, back from an undercover mission: "All right, fill me in. Tell me everything I missed."

Steph: "Won't take long. Only three things happened. Jason chipped his tooth and had a lisp for a week."

Jason: "Lithen up, theeven. I'm Thorry, did I thay thumthing amuthing to you? Anther me, you thun of a birth!"

Duke: "Number two, Stephanie and Damian wore the same outfit to work one day."

Steph: "How does it look better on you?"

Jason: "And Bruce banned headphones while masks are on, due to the Tim Incident."

Tim, rolling his eyes, shouting across the Cave: "I like listening to music sometimes! Patrol gets boring!"

Anyone who is interested in Eldritch Horror as a genre needs to watch Burrow’s End. Aabria is giving us a master class in what makes Eldritch Horror so scary. It’s not just that there’s a big scary monster that has the wrong number of limbs or eyes (although we are getting that in the form of the hazmat suits), nor is it the wrongness of the effects of the creatures (which we get in the parasitic chipmunks), it’s how much bigger everything is than the stoats.

It’s the concept of witnessing something so much above and beyond your comprehension that you can’t describe it. It’s trying to explain what that thing is when you don’t have the vocabulary, and how strange things become when you have to dumb down what you saw so others can understand. Having to say things like “non-bear” and “blue sun���. It’s trying to explain what reading is when there’s no concept of a written language with letters. How unsettling things are when you can’t understand.

We even get the root of Eldritch Madness in Thorn. He seems strange, sketchy, and even unstable to his family, not because he’s actually “mad” but because he witnessed something incomprehensible. He understands something fundamental about the world that no one else can grasp unless they’ve also witnessed it.

Everything about this, even the pieces of the puzzle that the audience can put together with their own experiences, is made unsettling and strange.

I feel like a see a lot of speculation about ‘the Sun King and The Lady are the real bad guys of the story’ and ‘maybe Sarcean wasn’t so bad after all’ kind of stuff…

And I think there is definitely more going on between them that makes the story less light vs dark, black vs white. But I also think that the overall story kind of plays with nature vs. nurture (or circumstance) and that in one context someone can do “evil” and in another do “good”. I don’t think it’s bad thing if Sarcean was a bad guy who did bad things, like making and using the collar, like killing all those people. Of course I believe it’s more nuanced than a black and white, light and dark, good and bad. But just because there’s nuance doesn’t mean the rolls flip and that secretly the whole time the light were the real bad guys and the dark was fighting the good fight.

I feel like if that is the case then it might neglect all the inner turmoil the characters have had to go through to try and understand their rolls in this new old world. If Sarcean maybe actually had a point and was doing the right thing, then Will’s battle with himself and his desires doesn’t mean as much because he’s not actually fighting any dark impulses

My thoughts on reversal in Reverse: 1999 (Global Friendly)

I want to define the structures of reversal in the game because of how people tend to mix up death and reversal. Its a topic that I wanted to discuss here for a while, and one of the reasons why I talked about the "Storm" in the first place.

First of all, reversal and death are not synonymous, but they are at the very least somewhat connected. Reversal from the "Storm" is simply what it is, it reverses a person to their previous form and position from a previous point in time. The "Storm" can also potentially revive or remove people from physical existence if the era sees fit. (i.e. it would take out people who weren't alive from a certain time as well as revive those who were)

However, because the "Storm" tends to also distort time, it also distorts people as well. One case that supports this is that Marcus points out that the figures present in the Secession building are physically different compared to the photos she was provided with in the Foundation.

Additionally, because the essences of people—alive or not—are physically recreated, they are recreated as who they were in the set era. Like how we know Isolde and Kakania as who they are now, are rather than who they were in the 1912 era, when Heinrich last interacted with them. (Since the Heinrich came from 1912 (1999+6) rather than 1913 (1999+8) )

When it comes to death, the case is different. The only way the "Storm" can kill someone is if a part of their physical bodies—distorted or not—are preserved in an immunity zone. For example, its stated that Paulina's hand was preserved after the second "Storm," but she was not encountered during the 80s era and forward, a point in time here she would have supposedly been alive as a child. Another would be that all of the geometric forms created from the deceased Apeiron members (that died in the 1987 "Storm") were maintained in the Island during 1977.

In short, a person needs to be physically reversed in entirety to have a chance to be seen elsewhere in the timeline.

This is also why the survivors of all the "Storms" cannot find their past selves. For those from the first, they were never reversed anyway. And those who were picked up from the subsequent "Storms" are already preserved in an immunity zone, and thus they cannot be reversed and recreated anymore.

The only case I'm not sure of is the scenario of someone from a certain era dies during the "Storm" countdown and is reversed in a different one. (i.e. Hoffman) I'm not sure what would happen to them, but my main assumption is that their essence becomes distorted in time and cannot be properly restored.

It also doesn't explain the disappearances that occurred in each reversal. (Mainly how amounts of Foundation branch members increasingly go missing in each era) Although, I don't want to make these as points of debate at the moment because god I hate how convoluted time is here.

For the Schneider fans out there, she would have been reversed normally since she was reversed in an incomplete immunity zone. (the suitcase) However she won't come back as 1:1, since she was reversed to a point where she would've been really young. (as in, 2 years old in 1913) Even with how we're in 1990 now, the circumstances would still be different and it makes it impossible for Vertin and co. to cross paths with her.
