Fancasting for a Trigun live-action tv series/movie!! I know we got just Trigun Stampede, but we can’t let Cowboy Bebop get a live action and not Trigun right??

For all my selections I would say about 75-80% are actors I have seen in one or more of their most well known roles. For anyone else I narrowed down to 2-4 options and I did extra research into their filmography, interviews to hear their voices and general vibe, etc. And I also looked at what kind of roles they trended towards—sci-fi/fantasy and superhero media giving them bonus points.

See below for info about the actors and my runner up choices for each character. I included tidbits like their age, height, and notable roles.

For Vash and Knives I wanted to first look for real life identical twins. After some research, I believe I found a fitting pair. Cole and Dylan Sprouse, best know for their childhood roles in the Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Although I don’t think I knew their adult roles as well as their Zack and Cody days, that real twin dynamic just adds that extra layer.

Of the two, I found Cole having a softer look, and lately it appears he’s been going with black hair which seemed fitting if we think about black-haired Vash at the end of TriMax. Dylan’s look has just that different sharpness and edginess that I slotted him to Knives.

Ruby Cruz (Kit Tanthalos, Disney+’s Willow) is a very talented young woman and recently made a feature length movie debut as Hazel Callahan in Bottoms (2023) and will be starring in an upcoming rom-com The Threesome. (See notes about edit below.)

Milly was a tricky one for me. I have a couple of runners up below. My current pick is Mina Sundwall, especially for her role as Penny Robinson in Netflix’s space family drama Lost in Space.

Although I’m on board with the HC that Wolfwood is Latinx, I had to go with famous werewolf Jacob Black from Twilight, Taylor Lautner. I got a couple other choices below too.

Liam Hemsworth (or Chris idkkkk). Nuff said?

Rem was a bit hard to choose. I had to go with Candice Patton as a personal big fan of her role as Iris West in The Flash as a DC fan. She has just the right oh-crap-I-have-kids-I-am-not-prepared-at-all motherly acting vibe down pat that is essential for Rem.

Despite the fact that Christopher Daniel Barnes is always smiling in photos, his breath of filmography makes him such a good fit for wise Drunkle Roberto.

Being so effing hyped about Nicholas playing Lex Luthor in Superman Legacies (2025) he has the perfect mix of heroic and villain roles for Legato’s psychotic righteousness. And he’s already had blue hair (and fur all over his whole body) as Hank “Beast” McCoy, c’mon too easy.

Zazie Beetz… that couldn’t have been a coincidence? Like Studio Orange must have know about this actress when they worked on the Beast’s revamped design. For a second option I’d probably pick a child/adolescent actor but Zazie can pretty much take whatever form they want, so why not both? Edit: I’m going with Scarlett (Trixie from Lucifer). Very very talent young woman. She’s funny, smart, sassy.

My Trans-Lesbian-Awakening Characters lol

Haruka Tenoh (Sailor Moon)

I believe Haruka was my first introduction to a lesbian and gender nonconforming (gnc) character! Discovering she was a girl along with Usagi and Minako blew my mind. The idea of a masc presenting girl was a revelation and I also found the fact other girls were attracted to her to be enviable, even when I watched the English version where her queerness was erased.

Trixie Tang (The Fairly Odd Parents)

The episode "The Boy Who Would Be Queen" was cathartic for young me. Although the episode was about overcoming gender stereotypes, Trixie's story felt relatable from a trans perspective. Her male persona outside of school and her interests in doing "boy stuff" but feeling pressured to maintain a feminine image for social acceptance resonated with me deeply. It's a shame we never got to see this side of Trixie outside the one episode.

Kaoru Matsubara (Powerpuff Girls Z)

I remember her introduction was her dodging a flock of fan girls on her skateboard. I was immediately pleased that the anime version of my favourite Powerpuff girl was that of a womanizing gender-bending skater girl lol. I felt annoyed along with her that she was forced to wear a skirt in her magical girl form.

Yui Goido (The World God Only Knows)

Even with her out-of-nowhere appearance in the second season, I was immediately enthralled by her princely demeanor and the way she casually blurred gender roles. I had to read her arc in the manga that was tragically skipped over and it screamed trans. Yui's conflict was her being forced to be traditionally feminine. Her body swapping and getting to live as a boy seemed to have given her gender euphoria that when she returned to her body, she started wearing the boys' school uniform, changed her hair to make it more androgynous, and started using "boku" to refer to herself (which is a masculine pronoun). Her personality also becomes a lot more confident, it's like watching a trans masc person finally be able to be themselves! The show may not appeal to me now but Yui was a big comfort character.

Mettaton (Undertale)

Mettaton's unique and subtle trans story felt so palpable to me that it made me resonate strongly with his character. When I learnt about his backstory, I felt genuine sympathy for him and his cousins. I love his charisma and how much queer energy he exudes!

Pearl (Steven Universe)

Pearl will always be a deeply important character to me for how much she contributed to my queer actualization. I think it's because I grew up with her as the cartoon series ran throughout my entire teenhood that she has been the most pivotal character for me. Getting to see this character who epitomized lesbianism and growth felt integral to my understanding of the queer community and myself.

Surface Bound: The worlds are flipped; Slugterrian born characters are now humans living on the surface and Eli lived in Slugterra until he was 15. He is half elf and moves to the surface to find his missing dad

Grimfate: The aftermath of the Twisted Ends episode 'A Sting in Time'. Eli has lost all his friends and has become cold and distant.

Future; 17 - 20 years into the future post Twisted Ends, Eli is now a father to his and Trixie's kids.

Good question! I didn't come up with like, concrete role swaps for everyone because, again, I have never actually watched Lazytown so 95% of my knowledge comes from the theme song and various memes, but to quickly go over what I did come up with:

same Guy who talked about redemption. I remember this youtuber by the name of DWK. Who did mlp (yes ponies) parody analysis videos..no he didn't analyze parodies but made parodies that look like analysis videos.

So he hates Discord but, is a fan of characters like Sunset and Starlight. With the all three being reformed villains. I'm not going make you read me talk about ponies so I'll try to be quick. DWK sees a difference between reformation and redemption the first one being the change of sides not exactly changing for the better but now on the side of good. The latter of redeemed meaning being not only have they switch sides but are doing what they can to be better people.

Back to pony stuff he dislikes cause while he reforms he doesn't change, not to say he doesn't make friends again this is the pony show but his personality stays the same. The other two on the other hand both reform and redeem themselves.

It's not a easy road, as not everyone will forgive them and the planet understandably hates them still, but its doing what's right.

However if you want characters to realise what they did in the past is wrong, try to reach out to others, and attempt to help others in similar situations atone, or find common ground with them then the Sunset and Starlight routes are best for you. Personally I don't see an issue with either path, the latter is more traditional whilist the former is a lot harder to write.

I’m guessing that like how Molly distracted him in canon and forced him to use barriers to hold up the dino, in the AU boss fight the gang has to get him to overextend so that he can’t spin/control all his saw blade barriers/etc at the same time…. good thing Gio is very small and fast! haha! elaborating on the Feenie Trixie swap. as said before, the roughhouses are now a dynasty of villains and evil sorcerers, and the fleecities are still rich but no longer magical girls. Now, in the original, the Roughhouses had criminal notoriety and the Fleecities were a magical force of good. If the Roughhouses are a magical force of evil and the Fleecities are non-magical but rich. If that is the case and they gain criminal notoriety, they become a rich non-magical force of good with criminial notoriety. What im saying is: The Fleecities are Batman. Phoenica Fleecity is Robin.

New Swap: Banzai Blasters and the evil forces of the Songstress. The Banzai Blasters are now the Songbird Sorcerers, basically the Blasters but now purple and magic and music themed. Calliope Blyndeff is, as opposed to Martin's all play and no work bumbling idiot, is an all work and no play always correct ruthless pragmatist joyless busybody manager.

more elaboration on Lorelai and Molly swap. Lorelai and Molly have their ages swapped btw. As Martin, the former toymaker has died, the role of toymaker goes to Lorelai Blyndeff, who cannot keep up with the demands set by her mother. As opposed to Lorelai's unhealthy coping mechanism of escapism through fantasy, Molly's unhealthy coping mechanism is a rotating combination of constantly distracting herself from the trauma with productivity, leading to becoming an academic overachiever, and self-numbing sensory deprivatory sleep, where she uses her epithet to go basically completely comatose and can only be woken by lorelai doing her dream bubble thing or whatever to go on a journey to the center of the mind to pull her out. Molly is basically either running at full steam overworking herself or shes completely powered off. Either way, she mostly spends her time alone in silence either studying or sleeping. Molly believes she doesnt have time for friends, and thus ends up a friendless loner. Man how is she worse off compared to ee molly. i feel bad for her. Hey remember how Lorelai's epithet caused Calliope's death in base ee? tack on self hatred issues onto the list of things wrong with scs molly blyndeff because she 100% believes she killed martin. girl is NOT having a good time. She's emotionanally detached from the rest of the family but still depends on them, pretty much the same as base ee Lorelai.

AU where Celestia becomes Daybreaker due to emotional distance from her subjects, as opposed to Luna w/ her dreamwalking. This causes a major butterfly effect.

Twilight Sparkle sees the original timeline, including how she became the ruler of Equestria, through a magic mirror. Going mad with power, she gets Sunset's role. But instead of Twilight's role, Sunset gets Rarity's, Rarity gets Starlight's, Starlight gets Moondancer's, Moondancer gets Trixie's, and Trixie gets Twilight's. Twilight Velvet also agreed to a lavender marriage with Night Light which then resulted in the Sparkle siblings. Trixie is the lovechild of Twilight Velvet and Jackpot.

Sunburst and Sweetie Belle also swap roles and, of course, ages. Cloudy Quartz and Pinkie Pie are both pegasi, but still live on the rock farm. Fluttershy is an earth pony born to the Cakes (no ageswap) as Yellow Velvet Cake.

Spike's egg is returned to the Dragon Lands after Twilight fails her entrance exam, but he returns later in the series. Rather than the "molting" process seen in the show, Spike is a drake (a type of wingless dragon). Trixie instead hatches a blue winged dragon that she names Barbara- Barb for short.

A lot of Celestia/Luna role swaps I've seen take the "Winter Moon Celebration" route, so instead the "Summer Sun" Celebration becomes the "Dark Sun" Celebration, after the second OP of Persona 5: the Animation. That's also the name of the AU

Celestia had become Daybreaker and was banished instead. Less than a thousand years later, Trixie had become Luna's student instead of Twilight, and at some point, together with Derpy, Carrot Top, Raindrops, Lyra, and Cheerilee, they became the Element Bearers.
