Reminds me of a roundabout in the capital of Nicaragua. (Several years ago.) My first roundabout ever, and it was FIVE LANES and PEOPLE WERE WALKING IN BETWEEN THE CARS SELLING FOOD!

(It was related to some political event, but I am not sure what it was.)

The driver was calm, but I was scared. AAAAHHH!!!

Easily, one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.

Years later, my town got roundabouts. A single lane for each, but it was a new concept to town. They have one that overlaps with a rail road track. The first week, I saw headlight fragments on the street. Haven't seen a lot of issues since.

It is such an odd concept when you are new to them, but as long as you can watch your surroundings, pay attention to the other drivers, and go in the correct direction, you can also face and conquer roundabouts!

The rock makes more sense after reading the tags.

I would like to ask Lavinia about her rock collection. favorite rocks, most special rocks? How did the collection start?

Lavinia's rock collection started when she first started gardening. She would pick up stones around town or in the desert to separate her beds and mark where her plantings are. Over time, she started to pay more attention to the rocks she was picking up, getting more choosy, and going out to look for them specifically.

When she had more rocks than her garden feasibly needed, she just started piling them up and making little cairns and sculptures. The most unusual or interesting ones went into her jewelry box. When she traveled, she would look for new types of rocks. One day, she bought a rock identification book, hoping to figure out the name of some crystals she'd picked up on a cave tour (not allowed. she had to sneak them out past the guide).

The book not only answered her questions, but also informed her of the existence of rock collecting conventions and contests. Lavinia had never really thought of what she was doing as a hobby, but this was interesting and oh, there was one not too far away in just a few months. Why not take a trip and see how it is?
