Listen, I have no idea where I can get that information, I'm too stupid 🤪. It's probably "Alternate Universe" because canon can fuck off, lol. Also "mutual pining" because, you know, 👌.
Have a wonderful 2025, guys! Much love!

I wrote a fic back in like 2017 or something where a long lost sugden brother who was the result of a fling Jack had rocks up in the village after his mum died
if they want story ideas, i've got about 200 robron fics they can use for inspiration!
Only in my fic the guy was straight - though everyone did think he was robert's new bf.
does that make me more creative than the ED writers?

20 Questions for Fic Writers
@rmd-writes tagged me and I like remembering that I write...
How many works do you have on ao3? 78
What's your total ao3 word count? 955,606. Feels like I should do something big for word 100,000
What fandoms do you write for? Past: Days of Our Lives, Emmerdale, and Glee Current: RWRB, 911 Lone Star
Top five fics by kudos: Every nation ought to have a right to provide for its own happiness (FirstPrince) The tender things are those we fold away (Tarlos) Tell all the truth but tell it slant, Success in circuit lies (Tarlos) But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep (Tarlos) Want (Robron)
Do you respond to comments? I try to, although logging in my AO3 to do this showed me how many messages I have in my inbox so... ish?
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I tend to favour happier endings but I guess I could say that Rumours has an angsty ended, what with both of the characters dead. Although it was at the end of a long and happy life together so... not that angsty?
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? They're all happy, but all of my FirstPrince ones will have the happiest of happy endings for Henry because he deserves more than anything.
Do you get hate on fics? Not really. Closest I got was people basically yelling at me for not doing a thing in a fic which I'd outlined in part 2? 3? could never happen. So lots of "WHY DON'T YOU WRITE THIS?" and me going, "...because I won't?"
Do you write smut? I dabble. More of a fade to black kinda girl.
Craziest crossover: Don't really do them.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated? I have, and being asked was the biggest honour ever.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? I did once, writing mirror chapters of a fic with someone. (We each wrote a different perspective on an event.)
All time favourite ship? Don't make me choose between my babies.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I have a Tarlos WiP just... sitting there. And I don't know if I'm going to get the love for them back.
What are your writing strengths? idk, finishing something?
What are your writing weaknesses? idk, not writing?
Thoughts on dialogue in another language? If it works, then I will do it. Fun fact: I once had a couple of characters have a conversation in front of the two main characters in French. I deliberately didn't provide a translation because one of the two didn't know what was being said and the reveal wouldn't come until the next part. Got yelled at for that too. (Like, the internet is right there.)
First fandom you wrote in? Like... ever? Lord knows.
Favourite fic you've written? I've got ones I'm really proud of for various reasons. Vows (Glee) because it was the first big one I'd done and it landed REALLY well, Exponential (Emmerdale) because it was structurally a challenge, In the burned house I am eating breakfast (911 Lone Star) because, well, I just love it.
No idea who is left to do this so tagging my writer crushes:

Hey girl, idk if this matters to u but like once a year I remember about your robron fics and it literally makes me so happy lol just letting you know your fics still have shooters out here (currently reading the police/detective one(my fave))
Basically what I'm saying is you'll have to pull robron from my cold, dead hands lmao
Hope you're having a nice day 😊 X
omg pal you have no idea how much this matters to me!!! this is the kindest message to receive thank u 🥹🥹
i don’t think i ever said it on here but the bulk of my robron fic was written during a really awful time in my life and it was my greatest distraction so knowing that distraction brings joy literal years later is so cool
(i have a few of those robron fics i want to come back and finish i swear)

Those pictures of Danny and Ryan hcihiherfr, like they actually have laptops out and are discussing their 'next chapter'. i know this is probably me clowning but very interesting i think.....
Any ideas on Danny and Ryan's new chapter? I mean of course I'm hoping it's something to do with Robron reuniting, but I have a feeling it won't be emmerdale related. Though I wouldn't complain if it was hahaha.
Maybe they're writing some barely concealed AU robron fan fic where they change the names to turn it into a movie. Haha
Probably not.
I mean I'm sure we'd all love it to have something to do with robron, I did joke about them doing a robron rewatch podcast since those are all the rage these days, but who knows what it will be. Probably just writing together maybe?
Whatever it is, I hope it actually becomes something and selfishly, I hope it involves them on screen together in some fashion because I miss it.
But mostly, I'm just happy to see them meeting up at all cause I like knowing that they're friends and I do love some content crumbs!

Hi Bobbie, thank you for your help last time. If you can help with a Robron fics I am looking for. The only thing I remembered. Aaron and Robert were been chase by their family in the street. Robert had injured back and while he was swimming in their home swimming pool he was hurting and Aaron was in the kitchen saw it and jumped rescue him. They had a nice house. Adam was also against them where he pushed Robert against a door or a wall and got back hurt again. Hope you can help with it. Thanks in advance
Hiya, based on the above, nothing is ringing a bell unfortunately. It might be a fic that has since been deleted or I haven’t come across as of yet.
If anyone has an idea which fic this may be, please feel free to repost or comment. Thanks!

Through a mother’s eyes
For @robron-fic-ideas. Happy Wedding 2.0 anniversary!!!
“Sarah, do you have a minute?” She wasn’t surprised to see Aaron on her doorstep one afternoon, more surprised that Robert wasn’t with him than anything, but they often called in if they were passing. This seemed different somehow, but she couldn’t put her finger on why.
“Oh yes, of course love. Come on in. What can I do for you then?” He looked nervous and she couldn’t help but smile. That even after all this time he didn’t know where to put himself in her home. “Sit down then.”
“It’s about Robert.”
“He’s alright isn’t he? He told me he was off to Harrogate for some new deal or other.”
“He’s fine. I…I wanted to talk to you.” She relaxes a little at his words but she can’t help but notice how he’s not in the slightest relaxed.
“Well I have nothing doing, so I’m all ears. Do you want a cuppa first?” He nods, checking his watch again and she busies herself with the kettle, keeping an eye on him. She noticed he kept checking his pocket and finally it dawned on her why he might be here. “There we are. So…what was it you wanted to talk to me about?”
“Me and Robert.”
“Oh you’ve not had another row have you?” She asks, trying to keep the amusement out of her voice. Their arguments were fairly legendary in the village, explosive and short lived but perfect fodder for village gossips because the two of them didn’t understand the word private.
“No. It’s…well…I wanted to ask you something, because you’re all Robert’s got and…well there’s Vic of course…and Andy…”
“Aaron love, you’re going to hyperventilate or something.”
“Sorry. Well, you know I love Robert and how he’s been there for me.” She smiles because of course she does.
“You’ve been there for him too love, you know that.”
“Maybe. Bet you wish sometimes that he’d never met me.”
“Don’t be daft. Besides, no one else would put up with him!”
“I know it’s been rocky, but I…I love him and…I wanted to ask you…” She watched him fiddle with whatever was in his pocket again and decided to put him out of his misery or they’d be here all night.
“Aaron…are you asking my permission to marry Robert?” He stares at her wide eyed and for a minute she thinks maybe she’s wrong until he grins sheepishly and nods. “And if I say no?”
“I’d ask him anyway.” She can’t help but laugh at the determination in his voice.
“Then you have your answer love. Now, more importantly, when are you going to do it? And how?”
*****
It’s funny, the memories that come back to you, but as she waves him off, standing on the doorstep, Sarah can remember the first time she met Aaron. A little scrap of a thing turning up at the school gates, hand in Robert’s, being led along by her headstrong boy.
“Is it alright if Aaron comes home for tea, mum? He’s my new best friend.”
She’d nodded, not asking what had happened to Ben, the boy Robert had declared his best friend only a few weeks ago. In her heart she knows that Robert had been upset when he’d talked about him not having a Mum. He’d not really said as much but Ben hadn’t been invited for tea since and he barely mentioned him anymore.
The two of them had chattered non stop all the way back to the farm, well Robert had, poor Aaron barely got a word in edgeways but he seemed happy enough, laughing along at Robert’s jokes.
Jack had shown them round the farm before tea, the two of them sharing a look over their heads at Aaron’s wide eyed gaze at all the animals. Robert was telling him about them all, showing off really but it was harmless. Aaron was hanging on every word.
When it was time to take Aaron home she’d thought he would burst into tears, Robert too until they promised Aaron could stay over at the weekend, as long as it was alright with his Mum.
The two of them were inseparable from that day on, through the first years of primary school, Aaron almost a permanent fixture at the farm through the holidays every year, until one day he stopped turning up at the gate with Robert.
“He doesn’t go to this school any more.”
It was all she could get out of Robert. They tried calling the number they had for Aaron’s Mum because he was so upset, but it was unobtainable. He closed himself off a bit that day, nothing she or Jack could do to shake him out of it and he didn’t bring anyone else home in place of Aaron so they stopped asking. The next few years were a mix of fights and disagreements, losing the farm, Robert hearing all of it, doing his best to keep it from his little sister, the one person who could now get a proper smile out of him. When Andy joined their family she’d hoped it would be different but the rows just got worse, Andy loving the farm when Robert wanted nothing more than to run away as far as he could.
She worried about him, always on his own, head stuck in a book most days. She’d like to think it was her influence but she knew the truth. He was working his socks off to get good grades, the only way he had to escape the farm. He didn’t want to carry on the family tradition like Jack insisted, causing rows so furious it felt like the foundations were shaking. Nothing she said could get through to either of them.
It was his fifth year at school when he came home one day, big smile on his face, opening the door properly to reveal a lad about his age who looked familiar.
“You remember Aaron don’t you Mum? Can he stay for tea?”
Within an hour it was like Aaron had never been away, the two of them laughing and joking across the table. She couldn’t help but study Aaron across the table, he looked older than he should, only really relaxing when Robert was talking. She’d shook herself, resolving to stop looking for trouble. Robert was happy, that was all that mattered.
That summer something changed between he and Jack. Neither one of them would talk to her, Robert shutting himself in his room, barely even venturing out for meals, and Jack was in a black temper for days. The next day Robert was nowhere to be found, a bag of his stuff taken, his prized books gone from his desk and she was beside herself, incensed when Jack seemed unbothered.
“It’s alright Mrs Sugden, he’s with me. He’s safe.”
No matter how many times she told him to call her Sarah he never did. It was sweet really. She knew everyone in the village thought he was a tearaway and she supposed he was, but she saw a different side and besides, he made Robert happy so he couldn’t be so bad.
She relaxed a little, knew he was safe with Aaron and eventually he’d come to her. She needed to just give him time.
She found out in the end what had happened and her heart broke for her little boy and she tried her best to make him see how wrong his Dad had been. She could tell it was futile, he believed every word and it made her hate Jack for hurting his son that way.
They never made it up, him and Jack, she’s not sure they even spoke another word to each other before he died. He’d come to live in the village with her and Vic after the marriage broke down. He’d run again when she told him, after the phone call from Annie. She knew where he’d go, knew he’d be safe.
Aaron opened the door to the pub, letting her in straight away, Robert on the sofa, games controller abandoned beside him, eyes red and not from staring at the screen. He didn’t want to talk, she knew him well enough to know that so she followed Aaron into the kitchen.
“He won’t talk to me. I only just managed to get out of him what was wrong.”
“That boy has every bit of his father’s stubbornness. There’s no good forcing him, he’ll talk to you though, when he’s ready, like he did before. Just look after him for me.”
Like the rest of the village she’d been shocked and upset when Robert had told her that Aaron had tried to kill himself in the garage, not long after. He’d found him and the look on his face when she found him pacing the hospital corridor broke her heart.
“Why couldn’t he tell me Mum?”
She couldn’t answer him, could only hold him as he cried on her shoulder for his friend. She wished the answers came as easy as they had when he’d been little.
In the end they’d fallen back into their usual friendship easy enough, even if Robert did turn into a mother hen for a while.
She had an inkling that Aaron had feelings for her boy, thought that maybe it was mutual even if Robert wouldn’t or couldn’t admit that to himself yet. She saw the way they would look at each other when the other wasn’t watching, how what they said mattered more than anyone else.
She watched as Robert married Chrissie a few years later, Andy by his side instead of Aaron, watched him smile and dance with his beautiful new wife, oblivious to the man in the corner whose heart was breaking into little pieces. No one was more shocked than her when Robert had asked Andy to be best man, even Aaron. She knew there had been a distance between them for a while, since he’d met Chrissie. He’d been so single minded, the new job, impressing her father in a bid to be the son his late father wanted, that there was no room for Aaron. It wasn’t her place to interfere no matter how much she longed to.
All she could do was watch as they drifted further apart and hope one day her son would see sense.
She was sure he knew even though Aaron had never told him how he felt. In fact she was sure Robert still felt the same way but the words from years before had left their mark and he was still doing all he could to make his Dad proud, even though he was no longer there to see.
She liked Chrissie, she did, but she knew Robert, could tell there was something not right, he wasn’t completely happy and maybe it was inevitable that their marriage would fail before they’d even marked a year off on the calendar. He’d come home, tail between his legs, dropping his bags on the table, guilt all over his face as he told her about Rebecca.
He’d been a bit like a lost pup after that, moping around the house under her feet for weeks. There was no Aaron to take his mind off anything. He’d fled to France with some rugby player that turned up in the village, not long after Robert had left with his new wife, coming as close as ever to revealing his true feelings.
“I can’t watch them around the place, all happy and in love. It’s better this way.”
He’d told her the morning he’d left when she’d asked him outright whether he loved Robert. She’d wanted to tell Robert he was leaving but Aaron wouldn’t let her saying it was for the best that he didn’t know.
When Aaron finally came home Robert had kept away, stubborn as ever.
“He left. He hasn’t tried to contact me.”
“Maybe you should think on why that is.”
He’d been annoyed with her that day but he had to figure it out for himself, had to overcome Jack’s words. She could only hope he would.
She’d thought maybe once the divorce was settled that he and Aaron might find their way to each other but instead they just wandered round the village ignoring each other. She knew Aaron’s Dad had turned up and he clearly wasn’t happy about it, but that didn’t explain why he was avoiding Robert.
It was a week or so later when she’d been stopped by Chas, frantic because Aaron had disappeared. At the time she’d not thought much of it, he was an adult after all, but then Robert didn’t come home until the next evening and she’d never seen him look so lost.
“I don’t know how to help him Mum.”
She couldn’t get any details from him, not then but it had all come out and in the midst of her heartbreak for Aaron and her anger at what he’d been through, she couldn’t help but be proud of how Robert had been there for him.
Eventually they’d got together but it seemed like they were more off than on for months, until they were over and Robert wouldn’t tell her anything about why.
It had been late one night when it all changed. Aaron had turned up on her doorstep saying those exact words, soaked to the skin from the rain as she ushered him inside.
The stupid feud with Andy had ended up with Robert getting shot. Aaron had been there he said, they’d been arguing. It was all they seemed to do these days, the two of them too determined to be right about everything  to ever get anywhere.
They’d sat together in the waiting room, looking up every time someone walked past, hoping it would be a doctor with news, hopefully good.
“You still love him don’t you?”
“I never stopped. Even when he winds me up.”
“So tell him.”
She thought he’d ignored her, he’d gone from the hospital as soon as he found out Robert would be ok and she didn’t see him again until the two of them walked into the pub together not long after Robert was discharged. Nobody else would probably notice the difference but she did, the little touches on Robert’s arm, Robert’s hand on his back as they pushed past the crowd of people.
She waited, hoping they would tell her but in the end her impatience ran out when they were in the corner booth at the back of the pub, no one else nearby.
“Do you boys have something to tell me?”
*****
“Mum! I can’t find my tie!”
“It’s on your…oh honestly.” She grumbled, climbing the stairs up to the room Robert had stayed in the night before. At least that had been the plan. He might think because she was getting older that she was stupid, but she could hear the door creak open and shut well enough, and she could see him walking up the lane to Mill too. “I left it on your bed while you were in the shower. Look it’s right there.”
“Oh. Yeah, sorry.” He’s dressed, waistcoat hanging undone and shirt collar up around his ears as he stared out of the window.
“What’s wrong?” As she steps further into the room she sees what it is he’s staring at. “He’s not here any more Robert.”
“He is, up here.” He points a finger at his head, still staring out of the window at the graveyard.
“You’re the only one who can get rid of him. You know he was wrong, and I know that doesn’t help, but he was, and you’re getting married to the man you love, the man you’ve loved for years despite all your protests to the contrary.”
“Do you think he ever would’ve accepted it?”
“You know I can’t answer that love. You’re happy and maybe that would’ve been enough for him, but, and this sounds harsh, your Dad doesn’t matter. It’s what you think that is the only important thing.” He shrugs. “Does Aaron know you still feel like this.”
“Yeah. He said the same as you.”
“I always said that boy had sense. He loves you, loves you so much he came here and asked for my permission to marry you.”
“He…he did?”
“Yeah. I had to have a little fun, and I asked him what he’d do if I said no.”
“And?” He sits on the side of the bed, running the tie through his fingers, a small grin on his face.
“He said he’d ask you anyway. Don’t you see, he doesn’t care what anyone thinks. He loves you and that’s all that matters.” He nods but won’t meet her gaze. “So, get that tie on, or you’re going to be late.”
*****
“I call upon these persons here present, to witness that I, Robert Jacob Sugden, do take you, Aaron Dingle, to be my lawful wedded husband.”
She’s watched them go through a lot in their lives, and she’s been proud, not just of Robert, but she doesn’t think she’s ever been prouder of her son than watching him marry the love of his life in front of the whole village.

Robron + Pride & Prejudice
For @robron-fic-ideas
Happy Fandom Compliment Day!
When I saw that I had you for my fandom complimentee, I could not have been more excited. You’re always so kind and thoughtful in your interactions with others, but more importantly, at least to me, you’re intent on making the world a better and kinder place than it currently is. And that’s not just for yourself, but for those who might not get opportunities afforded to them because of circumstance and the cards that life has dealt them. Not many people think about that, but the fact that you do heartens me. Because, as you well know, the world is not always kind, but people like you make it better.
But you’re not just extending that kind of support and big-heartedness out into the real world, you’re also doing it on here for all of us in this fandom. Every time I see one of your reblogs or comments, it’s always in support of someone and just boosting them up, or even, and these are my favourite moments, adding some valuable insight into things. You even dedicated your whole blog to celebrating and generating different ideas for the Robron fandom so we get as many wonderful and rich fics as possible!
I’ve enjoyed every conversation we’ve had thus far, and getting to see what you’ve read, as definitely inspired me to add a few titles to my already long reading pile, but I know when I eventually get to them, my life will be all the richer.
With that in mind, when I saw that post about what you want from a dream Robron AU, I knew I had to make you something that best reflected both our shared love of this masterpiece of a novel and celebrated why it spoke to you specifically. In doing so, I found so many lovely quotes that applied to both Darcy and Lizzie, but also Robert and Aaron! I settled on this quote in particular because I think it really speaks to Robert’s inability to contain his love for Aaron, as well as Aaron’s inability to resist his feelings for Robert; it’s a perfect summation of the start of their relationship and the strength of the feelings that have led us to this point.
Thank you so much for being your lovely self and for joining this fandom, I really cannot wait to get to know you more!

I tried vibing some sunshine your way! I'm in England and we don't seem to get much of it these days, so maybe that's why it put me in such a good mood today.
I'm the same as you, only got into 911 properly after 7x04 (though I'd watched lonestar since the beginning - apparently everyone hates Rob Lowe but I still see him as Sam Seaborn from the west wing (one of my all time fav shows) 😂).
I've got no idea why there are so many interviews either, and maybe it's adding to how bad some of them are? Like it's diluting whatever messages Tim et al are trying to convey because they're doing it every week and there's only so many teasers you can keep coming up with?
If the current plot resolves with Tommy coming back by hiatus, or by the end of 8B, then the earlier interviews about hurdles to overcome, deepening the relationship, their romance being a romcom, Oliver saying he likes slow burns, etc etc will all make sense - but then the intervening interviews since then will look like total bullshit/outright lying? Idk, I know alot of interviews are by buddie 'journalists' and words can be misquoted and written with a bias, but some of them still seemed pretty clear the current relationship is over. Plus there's the interviews mentioning plots to come that definitely never happened, so I think I'm just back to wanting to ignore them as they cause too much unnecessary stress.
Plus why focus on the stress when the fic and speculation is fun. I've enjoyed mpreg before but never this much 🤣, for me it's the combo with the angst of a breakup makeup that makes it just chefs kiss.
And finally a robron question as I am pretty out the loop with it, do you think there's any chance of Ryan coming back on the horizon??
Sunshine from England?? No wonder it didn't work! That's too rare to send over!
I never watched Rob Lowe in anything before Lone Star really. Not REALLY. sometimes i see things and i'm like 'wait... he was in that???" - i did see some gifs (i think) of him and lisa edelstein in another show where they *also* played a couple. I don't remember what show that was though. But yeah -i've always preferred lone star over the OG. Even now every monday is like "oh hiii babies!!" And i don't think the fandom is as fucking rancid as the og fandom can be. (not the bucktommy fandom - i love everyone in this club, but you know what i mean) I've never seen anyone so *violently* hate tarlos and send hate to Rafa or Ronen just because they're not the person they think the other half of the couple should be with. Even my fellow Nancy/Marjan shippers (all 5 of us) who don't want Nancy with Mateo don't go around harassing Jules.
ANYWAYS - the interviews are bullshit. I mean Tim teased tension between henren and madney over mara, he teased eddie being the third wheel and buck not having time for him, he teased buck leaning on Tommy with the Gerrard of it all - none of that happened. And if you look at the quotes from Lou's interview especially it's more up in the air like "i have a job lined up, i'm going back to SWAT, and a few other things coming up and if they call me to come back i hope i'll have time" he never said he definitely 100% will never ever ever come back as Tommy. That's what the buddie baiting "journalists" turned it into.
And yes speculation is half the fun! I mean how many speculation fics has this fandom written the past six months? Or this-never-happened fix its. Or Tommy-was-there-after-all- fics. Keep 'em coming people! I'm not keen on mpreg fics though but hey if you're all having fun with them - have at it! I know how to blacklist and keep scrolling ;)
As for Ryan coming back... I REALLY hope so... but realistically speaking... i don't think so. But if emmerdale wanted to prove me wrong and give me Robert Sugden back for Christmas, i wouldn't hate that! just FYI @ soap gods

B, J and M please
B: What was the first fandom you read fic in? Which was the first you wrote fic for?
I... have no idea. First time I remember really being aware of fanfic was Star Trek so I'm going to go with that for reading, and I want to say writing too?
Yes, I am fandom old. Although it was TNG, not TOS. I'm not that old.
J: What’s your favorite fanfic trope? Have you written it?
I wrote an accidental marriage fic for Klaine, "Vows", that had an element of fake relationship in it and tbh those tropes are still my jam. I love me a soulmate trope and I think the closest I got to that was the Robron fic "Rumours".
M: What’s the weirdest AU scenario you’ve ever come up with? Did it turn into a story?
I think the weirdest one is the one I am currently polling on as to whether I do the reveal. It's not the most unusal by fandom terms but it is for me...
Second weirdest was a Klaine AU, "Dreaming of You", in which everyone has some kind of psychic skill and Kurt ends up developing a rare one.

Okay I have to get this stupid fic idea out of my head:
What if ftm!Aaron goes through all the struggles of transitioning. He takes his T shots and does all sorts of sports, constantly pushing his body beyond its limits, because this body, he hates.
Aaron works at his uncle‘s garage to save money for his top surgery, when Emmerdale‘s lost son, Robert Sugden suddenly returns out of nothing.
He is immediately intrigued by the grumpy, younger man who keeps him on arms length.
As chance would have it, he discovers Aaron‘s secret. It‘s the beginning of a slowly blossoming friendship with ups and downs between the men.
In the end both will have to overcome stereotypes, prejudices and inner struggles to realise that true love conquers all.

Daddy's first pride
This is probably terrible, if so I'm sorry. From the Ana'verse.
"Plain iced cupcakes with different flags or rainbow icing." Robert announced as Aaron walked in the door with Ana on his hip and Seb following, making a beeline for his toys, giving his Dad a half hearted wave, as usual too interested in playing than anything else.
"Is this a quiz or..." He sets Ana down on the floor having picked her up from Sarah. He just stares at his husband, surrounded by recipe books, tapping away on his laptop, Sara in her bouncy chair in front of him fast asleep.
"For Pride. I can't make my mind up. Which do you think would be better?"
"Can we go back to the beginning, because I feel like I've walked in halfway through the series."
"Charles came in the cafe today, he's organising Pride in the village and he asked me to get involved." Aaron hasn't seen Robert look so eager about anything for ages, not since he came out of prison and he smiles along with him. "He's asked all local businesses for sponsorship or to be involved. I'm doing refreshments and stuff."
"When is it?"
"Next month. He said he'd called at the yard but couldn't make you hear." He goes back to scrolling on his laptop. "What do you think of these?"
"Must've had the crusher going." He shakes his head and picks his way through the mess surrounding Robert before he can sit down, lifting Ana onto his lap. "I can't hear a thing with that going you know that. What am I looking at?"
"Cookies. Maybe Mum could ice them, you know, all the different flags?"
"Yeah, why not. You know I'm the wrong person to ask, all I care about is if they taste nice."
"Idiot." He leans over to kiss him, closing his laptop. "I've put tea in early because there's a meeting at the village hall at six."
"About?"
"Pride, Aaron! I'm on the committee so I have to be on time. So you'll have to do bath time and that. I'll be home before they go to bed."
"There's a committee?"
"Yes. It all has to be arranged. You can help if you want. Mum's already volunteered, and there's Matty, Ethan, Charles, Nicola and Vic, oh and your Gran." He couldn't help smiling because he'd not seen Robert this animated in ages even if he truly couldn't remember any conversation they'd had about any of this.
"I'm not one for meetings am I, but I can do heavy lifting and that." He hesitates, not wanting to dampen Robert's mood one bit.
"What?"
"Nothing, it's just...you've never really seemed interested in going to pride or 'owt." Robert looks down and he instantly feels bad. "Oi, it's not a criticism, I just wondered...you seem to be going at this hell for leather that's all. Did you want to go before or...?"
"Not really...I, nearly went once, in London. Chickened out at the last minute, worried someone from work might see me and just know which was daft I know, and when you and me got together, something always seemed to get in the way. I just thought...I know who I am now, and I'm happy. That's something to celebrate, isn't it?"
"Yeah, course. Be my first time too." He winks making Robert laugh. "Right, so, what else have you got planned?"
--------
"Robert!" It's only been a week and Aaron is wishing the days away so he can have his husband, and his house back. He's come home to a living room full of boxes.
"Oh, you're home. You're early."
"I thought I'd sack it off for the day and we could go to the pub for tea with the kids. I didn't expect to come home to...well this."
"Daddy look!" All of a sudden Seb emerges from behind the pile of boxes with what looks like a door curtain trailing behind him.
"Very nice mate. Robert what is all this."
"Ah...well..." Robert scratches his head as he untangles Seb from the decoration he's wrapped himelf in. "The thing is, I'm kinda in charge now."
"How come?"
"It was meant to be Andrea, although if you ask me she only agreed because she thinks it'll keep her in with Charles." Aaron nods, even though he really has no idea what he's talking about, but then Robert's always been more into village gossip than him. "Anyway she's cried off, I don't know, some kind of drama with Jamie again, and well Charles needed the help."
"And you agreed."
"He was stuck!"
Robert and Charles have struck up a kind of friendship since Robert came home, and Aaron knows that he's confided in him, stuff he doesn't want to tell Aaron, or things he needs to sort out before he does.
"Right, so basically the house is going to be a store room for the next fortnight?"
"No, I'm moving it all over to the village hall, but it needed checking, and Mum was going to help but then Ana wanted to go to the swings so she took her, and Sara."
"I'm helping!" Seb pipes up, with his head inside another box as Robert shook his head.
"Well how about you help me and Daddy move these boxes and then we can go and get some tea?"
"Chips?"
"If you get your head out of that box and stop spreading stuff everywhere then maybe."
--------
The next few weeks are a flurry of plans, of Robert having daily brainwaves or panics about one thing or another, and his phone is constantly lighting up with WhatsApp messages, but finally it's the evening before and he thinks Robert has calmed down. He's at one final committee meeting leaving Aaron in charge of the kids tea.
"You alright mate?" Seb's pushing his pasta around the plate rather than eating.
"Where's Daddy?"
"He's at his meeting, you know sorting things for tomorrow. He won't be long."
"What's Pride?" He says after pushing a few more bits of pasta around. He supposes he shouldn't be surprised Seb's asking, it's all they've spoken about for the last month or so after all.
"Well in some places it's like a big parade and it's full of colour and everyone's happy. Emmerdale's a bit small for a parade though ain't it, so it's just going to be like a big party with music and face paints and food and all sorts of things."
"Oh."
"What's up mate?"
"Oscar, at school, he said havin' two Daddies is weird." Aaron's never head of this Oscar, and he has to remind himself it wasn't the kids fault that he obviously hadn't been taught properly.
"Do you think it's weird?"
"No. You and Daddy both play with my trucks and take me on the swings."
"Exactly, some boys and girls have a Mummy and Daddy, like Eve, some have two Mummies like Moses and Johnny, and some like you, Ana and Sara have two Daddies. But all of you have fun, and everyone loves you, so it's not weird. Oscar maybe just doesn't understand hey?"
"But I had Mummy too." Aaron let out a breath, it'd been a good while since he'd mentioned Rebecca, other than saying goodnight to her photo every night. He wished Robert was here, he was always better at dealing with it than him.
"Yeah, well, Moses has a Daddy too doesn't he? A family can be made up of whoever, and still be the same as everyone elses. Do you understand?"
"I think so. And pride is like a party?"
"Yeah, celebrating the fact that people like me and Daddy can be together and stuff."
"But...why?"
"Because years ago we wouldn't have been allowed to get married or be together and some people still think we shouldn't."
"That's silly."
"Yes it is. Really silly."
"Can we go see Daddy?" Aaron smiles, and nods, happy that Seb's satisfied with his answer.
It's a bit of a struggle, managing the three of them, but eventually he gets Seb to push Sara in her chair, while he carries Ana, and they're heading towards the village. Suddenly Seb stops, mouth open and Aaron stops fiddling with Ana's cardigan to see what's wrong.
"Wow." Main Street is literally awash with colour and Seb's eyes are as wide as Christmas. "Look Daddy!"
"I am mate. Cool huh?" He can see Robert in the distance, with Charles and he nudges Seb to carry on walking, smile growing wider as they gets closer to his husband, seeing how happy he is.
"Daddy! Everything's pretty!" Seb all but abandons the buggy to run the last few metres to Robert who immediately picks him up and sits him on his shoulders.
"What do you think young man?" Charles asks him and Seb giggles. He likes Charles, had crazed them to be allowed to go to the after school club he'd set up in the village.
"I like the colours! Daddy said that Pride is cos he and Daddy are allowed to get married. Is that right?"
"Something like that yes. Do you remember we talked about it last week at after school club?"
"When we coloured in?"
"That's right. All of your drawings are hanging up in the church so maybe you can show your Daddies tomorrow."
"OK!"
"Come on chatterbox, let Charles get home."
"He's fine. I'll leave you to it. It looks really good Robert, you've done a great job getting everyone organised, especially last minute."
They take a slow walk home once Robert's done one last check of everything. Aaron's just happy to wait, happy to watch him. It's been a strange couple of years since he came out of prison, ups and downs along the way and he knows Robert's struggled with village events sometimes, feeling as though people are watching him, judging him. Seeing him taking such a delight in organising everything hopefully means he finally feels properly back at home.
"You ready?" Finally finished he kisses Aaron, Seb resting against his shoulder, suddenly tired. "It does look ok, right?"
"Yeah. Proper proud of you I am."
--------
"She's sleeping again." Aaron clicks off the light and slips into bed beside him, not getting any response from his husband. "You ok?"
"Hmm? Yeah. It's just..."
"What?"
"Charles asked me if I'd say something tomorrow."
"Ok, and...you don't want to? I'm sure he'd understand."
"No I do but...I don't know what to say."
"Just say whatever comes to mind. You don't have to make a big speech, just welcome everyone. He wouldn't have asked you if he didn't think you could."
"I just...it has to be perfect."
"Robert, it already is. Look at what you've done, the village looks amazin', and tomorrow is going to be brilliant and that's down to you."
"People helped."
"Yeah, but they wouldn't without you geeing them up. It's all set up now...you get to enjoy yourself."
"Mmm, love you, you know. I'm glad I didn't go that time in London, I'm glad my first pride is with you."
"Soppy git."
--------
"Right, I'm ready." He's barely set a foot on the bottom stair when Robert stops him.
"No."
"What do you mean no?"
"You are not wearing all black. I will suffer it the rest of the year, but not today."
"Why the hell not? Last I checked it was a free country and I can wear whatever I want."
"No Daddy. You has to wear colour! It's the rule." Aaron bends down to Seb who has his arms crossed, mimicking Robert.
"Oh is it? Well I heard that it's the rule to tickle little boys until they shouted me to stop!"
"No! Daddy, stop it! Daddy help me!"
"Seb's right." Aaron stops tickling his son to frown at his annoying husband. Robert's wearing a t-shirt with PRIDE emblazoned across the front in the colours of the bisexual flag and before he can ask what he considers colourful enough he's handing him a bag. "I got you this."
He glares at him a moment longer, pulling what looks like a t-shirt from the bag.
"I knew you wouldn't actually wear proper colour so I got it made up in black." The shirt has 'love wins' across the front made to look like rainbow paint splatters. "Will it do?"
"Fine." He sighs, but he's smiling.
"I, er, I also got these, for the kids." He hands him three more shirts each saying the same thing. "You like 'em?"
"Perfect. Right then, I'll get changed, you can sort them, and then finally we can go!"
Fifteen minutes they're off, Seb running ahead, while Aaron has Aaron on his shoulders, little hands clutching at his hair. Robert's behind them, stopping to adjust Sara's sunhat.
"Seb hang on mate." He stopped at the top of the drive until Robert catches him up.
"Oh my God."
Main Street was full of people, and Aaron couldn't wipe the smile from his face.
"Look what you did."
"Yeah." He sounds stunned.
In the crush, the lose each other after a little while, and it's not until he hears Charles announcing Robert's name that he knows where he is. Making his way to the stage that's been set up next to the church he stands to one side with Sara's pushchair, Ana still on his shoulders. He can see Seb at the side of the stage with Vic so he's happy to stay where he is.
"Um...I don't quite know what to say. When Charles talked about this, I don't think any of us expected quite so many people. Er, it took me a long time to accept who I was, that, um, that I'm bisexual, that it's ok...Fifteen years actually, and now I'm married to the most wonderful man in the world and we've got three kids, and I'm happy. It's been a hell of a journey but I'm truly happy. Anyway I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's ok to not know, to take your time, to go at your own speed...so, have a wonderful day everyone!"
Aaron can barely hear himself think at the cheer, the whistle as Robert steps off the stage, picking Seb up and kissing him as he goes.
It takes a while but eventually they find each other and he sees that Seb had convinced his Daddy to let him get his face painted, cheeks perfectly matching his t-shirt that proclaims 'my daddies love me' with both a pride flag and bisexual flag.
"Was it ok?" Robert asks as Aaron moves Ana so she's standing with Seb, holding onto his hand.
"Did you hear them? It was perfect." He kisses him before hugging him tight. "Love you so much."
"Love you too."
"Daddy I'm hungry! Can we get a cookie from Ganma now?"
He laughs into Robert's neck as the moment's broken. It didn't matter, the whole day has been perfect from start to finish.

Robron week day 1: Monday April 19 - Meet Ugly + "That was not an explanation." (I’m most definitely winging this so, we’ll see!) ____
Aaron didn’t mind being Vic’s date to her brothers wedding. Vic’s ex boyfriend was going to be there, and she needed some moral support, and Aaron liked the option of free booze, so he’d told Vic he’d go.
Of course, when they got there, the country house was far more luxurious than he’d imagined. “Doing well for himself is he?” Aaron asked Vic. “Your brother.”
“He’s marrying money,” Vic said, rolling her eyes. “I just hope he’s happy.” Aaron nodded, then smiled as Vic had brought him a drink. “Thanks. For coming, I don’t really want to see Max on my own.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Aaron said. “You look amazing.” Vic smiled. People were gathering for the ceremony and Aaron stood above it on almost a balcony area, just looking down at the people.
“Do I know you?” Aaron turned to see a tall blond man in a suit looking at him. He was very good looking, his slightly crooked nose only adding to the impression.
“Should you?” Aaron asked.
“You’re here for Chrissie then?” he asked.
“No, I’m a plus one,” Aaron said. “Free booze and I’m there.” The man huffed a laugh.
“No wedding ring though.” The question was pointed and Aaron looked at the man with renewed interest. Was he... yeah, he was.
“Nope,” Aaron said easily. “Very single. I’m here with a friend.”
“Ah.” The blond kept staring at him and Aaron couldn’t help but smile slightly. He was definitely being checked out. The stranger liked what he saw and grabbed Aaron’s hand. “Follow me.” Aaron let himself be pulled around the corner and gasped when this man kissed him, hand cupping his face as he pushed their bodies together.
Aaron moaned, hands on his waist, trying to touch as much of him as he could. Sometimes, being gay in a small village, he went without sex far more often than he’d like, and this touch was just igniting everything he wanted. The man kissed down his neck and Aaron whimpered, fingers in his messy blond hair. He felt incredible.
“Robert, there you are!” The man stepped away from Aaron, trying to pretend he wasn’t flushed as Vic came around the corner. Aaron was dazed, then put it together. Robert? Robert’s wedding, THAT Robert? “You’re going to be late!” Vic said.
“I’ll be there in a second.”
“Seems like you forgot to tell me something important,” Aaron said, walking away, lips bruised by Robert’s kiss and heart sinking.
